Had I been a tinfoil hatter, today's Countdown would have really depressed me...

BBV to KO... BBV to KO... KO, Please Pick Up Your Tin Foil Hat at The Isle #3
What is this? "Mars Attacks", or possibly some 1950's B-movie? Where is the Dr. Who music, and for that matter, where is the Dr. Who?
Keith, you really have to stick to the message. Repeat after me: "There must be a recount. Ohio went to Kerry. No really it did." Who cares about those SUVs losing the front wheels?!?! Did you forget whom you work for? Hint: It is not a magazine, and it is not called "Consumer Reports". It is M S N B C and you are the only reporter that is running with that story. Why is it getting only two minutes of your time?
Is Scott Peterson's sentence more important than Bush stealing Ohio from under Kerry's nose? Come on, there must be a reason you zoomed onto Jesse Jackson's face! He had something very important to say, didn't he? Why did not you interview him? Remember, you have to keep talking about "disenfranchised democratic voters", not the cell phones on the airplanes!
I wonder if KO's retisence is due to the fact that nothing new happened in the Ohio recount story yesterday? Certainly he could have made something up, right? Is this how handle a 'slow news day?'
Paul,
Olbermann once worked in a Ohio election story by talking about how electronic voting can be affected by static cling...
And that KO mentioned how electronic voting can be affected by static cling proves what, exactly? Although I missed KO's report of it, I saw that story here in Columbus, Ohio on local media outlets. Do you know where it originated? I don't. Even so, I don't see how it relates to my point.
Paul,
Sorry. Didnt' mean you to take my response seriuosly.
I was being facetious in response to your point that the reason Countdown has slowed down on the Ohio vote stories is because there is no "new" news. Like...when has THAT ever stopped Olbermann... :D
Cecilia,
Sorry I took it literally. I do tend to take things too seriously.
I'm less convinced of KO's agenda than many of those who post here but am certainly open to dissent on the subject, so long as we respect one another.
Thanks,
Paul,
Are you serious? I mean we can disagree over the VoteFraud story but you don't seriously mean to say that Keith doesn't have agenda. He runs the most left-wing broadcast this side of PBS.
Or maybe you don't read anything into Countdown featuring one negative story about the Bush administration after another?
Bob,
I don't "read anything into Countdown". That you do is precisely why you host this site. I didn't say KO was without an agenda, I said I was less convinced of it that many who post here.
Regarding KO's longitudinal proximity relative to PBS, I once worked for an NPR affiliate. The news I read was straight from the wires. I picked whatever stories I wanted to report.
In 4 years, I was never coerced, cajoled or influenced to lean in any direction. Now, that was radio, in the late`70s, in Waterloo, Iowa...at least a gazillion cow pies from national (albeit cable)TV. Even so, I doubt that KO has similar freedom.
I'm curious about who in news you like to watch and/or listen to? Who, from the the national media, do you feel is objective? Who's your model?
Again, thanks.
Off the top of my head...national news anchors that I like are Tom Brokaw, Lester Holt, Brian Williams, Brit Hume...Aaron Brown in SMALL doses....Jim Lehrer (I know Newshour is "good for me" but it is often a snoozefest)
Hume is "right" but SAYS SO regularly unlike many of the supposedly objective anchors.
Again, we agree, except that to me, Holt's a bit of a light-weight and I prefer Hume in small doses--at least I respect his candor about his leanings. Lehrer is a snore, but I feel he's he's credible.
Thanks,
From what I've seen Hume covers a story or an issue from EVERY angle-- right, left, and in between. Guests are questioned from all sides, however you are aware of how Hume personally feels.
The only MSM guy who is knowledgeable of libertarian, conservative, and liberal ideology, able to articulate guestions from these views/arguments, AND does not seem to take sides, is Tim Russert.
