Overheard on IMUS this morning, in a conversation about who should be the next chairperson of the DNC:
Bernard McGurk: "What about Keith Olbermann?"

Imus on MSNBC is positively the BEST show on cable news. Imus does the most interesting and hilarious interviews. It's a free-wheeling hoot.
I love Bernie and Charles. Seinfeld didn't have wittier or smarter characters.
I've tried to watch Imus, I really have. And I agree that his interviews are generally good. The show can be amusing, but to equate the snickers I get from Imus with the deep belly laughs Seinfeld gives me is like calling Beef Jerky Filet Mignon. (And I consider both satisying in their own ways).
My big problem with Imus is watching a radio show. To me, it's much better if you just listen...watching it can be painful. And I'm only addessing the format, not its political content, which as a lib, I also find at times to be like fingernails on a chalkboard. I do appreciate his efforts to present both sides. He's not a single-issue guy. When he's mad, he can be a bit mean-spirited, but he can also be quite gracious.
Another thing that bugs me is the way Imus stammers. He swallows words, mumbles and at times, it almost sounds like he's gargling. Great pipes, though. He should open his mouth more. I suppose to fans, that all of this is endearing. It's IMUS, and this is his brand of entertainment. But as a former radio guy, it crawls up my spine.
