It's one thing for journalist Cal Thomas on MSNBC's competing network to remind us that no one watches Countdown with Keith Olbermann. But it must have stung for Keith to have heard it said this morning from one of his own colleagues at MSNBC.
At about 6:38 AM EST during his MSNBC morning program, Imus expressed disdain for Olbermann's comedy bit on Monday's Countdown comparing the Pope's blessing to Ashlee Simpson lip-sync debacle on SNL (mentioned in Johnny Dollar's Olby Guide Monday, with transcripts likely available by Tuesday afternoon) .
Imus described Keith's bit and how the in-studio sycophants chuckled. He thought the whole deal was in poor taste and a disrespectful excercise to get laughs at the expense of the head of the Catholic religion, who had almost died recently. Imus lashed back at KO, saying that "fortunately" (perhaps for Christians and MSNBC execs alike), no one watches Keith's show.
When the king of bad taste humor reprimands you for gratuitously bad taste, then you have an idea just how low you went. This is the second time in recent weeks in which Imus razzed Olbermann on the latter's modest viewership. He made similar comments just prior to his move to MSNBC's Secaucus studio.
You need to lighten up on Mr. Olbermann a tad.
From what I've seen, and I'm a regular
viewer of Countdown (only when Keith is hosting, of course), he does not lean too far one way or the other, in his presentation of the days events.
Keith always comes across in an unbiased manor.
And on the subject of his so called sarcasim and 'bad taste' jokes,
HERE'S A QUARTER, GO OUT AND BUY A SENSE OF HUMOR !
If you had a sense of humor, you'd see his jokes are just that- JOKES.
Levity, obviously meant to lighten up the otherwise depressing events of the day.
They should not be seen as personal jabs at anyone, or any party, they should be seen for what they are, wit, humor.
(just for the record, I voted for Mr. Bush)
What do you want me to say? Gee, you're right we've been to hard on Keith?
This site is OlbermannWatch, dude. It's all Keith criticism, all the time. Do you write letters to ESPN complaining that they don't air enough World War II documentaries? Or to the Playboy channel for not running enough evangelical prayer services on Sundays? Maybe you don't like The Movie Channel running all those damn movies!
You claim that you voted for Bush, watch Keith all the time and did not get the sense that KO had an opinion on the outcome of the election?
I know the KO-lovers on this site all hate me but I think they and I could all agree that what folks on the left like about Keith is that he is "their" guy on cable news.
I find chronic irony in this site's basic MO, which is to endlessly monitor, indict and insult KO. And why? Because, according to you, he's an essentially dishonest, covert, diabolically left-leaning pundit in anchor-man's clothing. Of course, since you make no pretense regarding your conservative bend, you have total license to assault Olbermann when, in fact, you and your contributors are every bit as biased as KO (if not more). But heck, you admit it, so that's okay. AS IF "honesty" about your intentions excuses your character assassinations, slander, etc. Your self-righteous declaration of purpose permits you to engage in all manner of hateful behaviour, some of which is the very behaviour you accuse KO of practicing and then some. For instance, except for his constant ridicule of O'Reilly, I think your criticism of KO is far more mean-spirited than what he levies against other "targets" on "Countdown".
Further, you and your merry band of righties act as though every liberal has an Olby shrine in his or her home, yet when I tell my liberal friends that I post on Olbywatch, they often say "who's he?" Please explain just why it is you think he's our hero? And in doing so, can we please stay away from the Ohio vote? Is that possible?
Most are aware of Michael Moore--many are srarting to recognize Franken or Al Schultz from Air America, but alot of folks remember Olby only from ESPN. Yet you insist he's a liberal icon. Why?
I gotta' wonder if there's something else going on between you and KO? Did he once kick sand in your face on the Jersey shore, diss your sister, or steal your milk money?
What gives, Bob?
Stop harrassing young women that live alone, and take down the dangerous and threatening information about her family
Nobody watches Imus either-it's a face made solely for radio. Sort of how no one would read this amusing little blog if Mr. O's name wasn't attached.
D,
If you don't stop this nonsense, I'm gonna have to turn republican. Now, you don't want that on your conscience, do you? PLEASE STOP. Just think of all the debreifing I'd have to undergo. I'm not young. I don't have the stamina I once had. I don't want to actually BELIEVE FOX NEWS!Have mercy on me and my family. I implore you as a democrat. Please stop.
But it's so much fun Paul. I mean, why put up a site if he didn't want comments right--so I'm commenting. Exercising my freedom of free speech. Like right now--I feel compelled to say "Koo Koo Ka Choo."
