You may recall that back in November, Keith Olbermann named Fox News Channel "worst persons in the world", because they paid Tom DeLay's expenses so he could appear on Fox News Sunday. We noted at the time that Meet the Press has done the exact same thing.
Today, the Austin American-Statesman (via TVNewser) confirms that our call of "hypocrisy!" was justified:
NBC's "Meet the Press" occasionally digs deep, paying $9,550 in travel costs to interview Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., in 2000 and $9,000 to question Rep. Henry Hyde, R-Ill., in person in 2001. "Face the Nation" and "This Week" also have chartered flights, spokeswomen said.
Keith Olbermann: Worst "Journalist" in the World!
Olbylogic: Fox is worse because they paid Delay $15,000! They only paid Durbin #9,550!
Meltdown: All the news that's fit to twist.
Several times, while reading this board, I've pondered who I would least want to irritate.
Jack Bauer of tv's "24" or Johnny Dollar?
C, you could never irritate me. You're my Chloe O'Brien! ;)
Thanks, Johnny. I think...
Hey everybody! Head on over to Rush's site. I think our Jill made it on the show. Does she live in Ithaca????? It's under the heading of you never argue with an idiot. judge for you're self.
Puck,
They all sound like they're from Planet Stupid.
This is off topic from Olby, but I was watching a recent update regarding the latest murder case ( the mother and baby allegedly killed by the husband who fled to UK ) "He's not a suspect, still only a "Person of Interest". ( Remember way back when, when the police would say "we have a number of suspects - or, the spouse is always a suspect ) I remember over a couple years ago when a police detective explained in great legal detail why they no longer declare suspects as suspects, but only as a person of interest. Basically it limits their ability to question / investigate them, etc. But all the media continues to make a distinction between the two, i.e. "At this point the husband is not a suspect, but only a person of interest." Don't they realize the police are never going to declare him a suspect. Just a pet peeve of mine to see all the media do this.
