It was just Monday when Olby used Countdown for his own personal reply to columnist Lloyd Grove. You will recall he made the columnist and assistant his "worst persons in the world" because Olby didn't like the selection of C-SPAN interview quotes they used in the "Lowdown" column. KO's bizarre, off-the-wall attack, on national television yet, did not go unnoticed.
In today's New York Daily News, Mr Grove replies, referring to our Olby as "Krazy Keith" and suggesting he try the "insanity defense". It's a delicious item from someone who really gets the essence of Olby.
Wow, what will Keith do now? He might be back in the fetal position as we speak!! Unlike our Bill O, Mr Grove has plenty of guts to immediately counter any further attacks KO might lob. Interesting!!

So, let me get this straight: A guy, mad at Keith for picking him and his assistant out for Worser and Worst persons in the world, resorts to personal attacks on Olbermann?
Okay, good for him.. I guess..
NY Daily News? Who???
I like the OlbermannWatch site... generally well-written. But who is the NY Daily News, and it takes a lot of chutzpah to say Olbermann is the third-ranked show with one-sixth the size of O'Reilly when the NY daily news is not even a blip on the newsscene and has a fraction of the readership of the NYT.
> who is the NY Daily News
Well, Keith considered them so important and influential that he took several precious minutes away from Tom Cruise, Barry Bonds, and Michael Musto in order to slam them. And important enough that he scurried over to his "blog" to demand they be fired. If he had taken his own advice (the "clever" reponse is "just to ignore") it would have been over. But now he's gone and started a feud with a columnist who isn't afraid to name names and dish the dirt. The fun may be just beginning.
Lloyd Grove is utterly useless.
#1. Although I thoroughly enjoyed Lloyd Grove's commentary, I must object to his use of the "Krazy Keith" sobriquet without giving me, KfK (Krazy for Keithtm) a "hat tip." Perhaps he knows nothing of me, but in today's society, that is no excuse. Therefore, I name Lloyd Grove worst and best person in the world simultaneously!
#2. So much juicy gossip! Fetal position, written requests before speaking to staff, former bosses calling him a "pathetic figure"! Will his wig-bearer rat him out next?
#3. The New York Daily News circulates to 729,124 people DAILY and is the #6 DAILY NEWSPAPER IN THE US. For comparison, Keith dribbles out to 200,000 people daily. See for yourself:

'Bout time somebody called keith out for his behavior! Could this be his "McCarthy moment?" Lloyd may as well have written:
"Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"
Oh the irony and the joy!
We just bought a dog an it's a cross breed. If Opie were a cross breed I would say he is 50 % Geraldo, 50 % Howard Dean, resulting in a breed of "thing" that should be anywhere but on major network primetime news cast.
There are much more appropriate places for him to spin his lunancy. NBC should be ashamed - he belongs in some "move-on.org " officer role
Why don't you spend your time taking potshots at those who truly deserve it...i.e., Rush Limbaugh, Bill Pinhead O'Reilly, Hannity and Colmes and their ilk instead of picking on Keith?
Keith is the most entertaining newsperson on TV and incredibly brilliant. Perhaps that's why you're so jealous of him. I'll bet he does NOT wear a rug and even if he did, so what? It's what's inside his gorgeous head that counts, not what's on the outside!
I caught a good part of the interview on C-SPAN. Just happened on it.
Was going to comment eariler on it, but haven't had time.
In particular, I was not impressed by much of it except what he said about his approach to journalism. Which was "attack power".
Hmmmm. He said he wasn't a liberal. He just attacks power. Because he attacked Clinton and Monica he shouldn't be called a liberal. That's proof, he said.
Hard hitting journalism. Or just hitting journalism.
I may go back and count Monday's attack count...
Him and his Leftists ilk have embarrased us Patriotic Liberals. On behalf of us genuine Liberals who can disagree with you on the right without hate, I apologize.
I also renounce Trekkie, Nonfactor and Swashhead.
Johnny:
Just curious if you know the "creepy insinuations about my twentysomething associate's long and rewarding service at MSNBC before I hired her away" that Keith made?
Jim
From the transcript:
But our winner tonight, Katherine Thompson. She writes the column with Lloyd Grove. Or he‘s her assistant, maybe, I‘m not sure.
She used to work here at MSNBC. And when she left nobody cried. Now she‘s writing stuff, inaccurate, journalistically reckless stuff about people that work here and at MSNBC as well. The conflict of interest is as bad as anything I‘ve seen in journalism.
I like the part where Olby is criticizing her for journalistic recklessness. Priceless!!
Here's the "attack power" quote from the Q&A interview transcript at C-SPAN --
"As I said seven, eight years ago, I spent 228 consecutive hours of television, right to the last day even though I wanted to get out of it, right to the last day, the last show, 10 minutes to air Im rewriting the copy to make it a little bit more punchy, because, you know, we went out after -- YOU GO AFTER POWER, YOU DON'T GO AFTER A REPUBLICAN OR A DEMOCRAT."
Caps are mine for emphasis.
The 228 is the amount of time devoted to Clinton and Monica L.
Olby begs this upon himself. His childish behavior and inability to stop himself from shooting his mouth off facilitate his undoing. I see that Lloyd Grove still has a job despite your efforts to remove him, Oh Great and Powerful Olbywan. I'm sure Grove has a bigger audience, too. Olby's enormous ego and pomposity know no bounds. He can dish it out, but he can't take it.
1) Didn't KO work for FOX? What about HIS conflict of interest???
2) Aren't these newspaper folks just "punching-up" at KO???
3) What happened to his advice of ignoring the flicking of a little finger???
"the clever response, the cynical and brilliant response is to just ignore."
Olbermann is an insane loser!
1) Didn't KO work for FOX? What about HIS conflict of interest???
He worked for Fox Sports. As far as I know, the Sports division and the News division are completely independent entities (like the Fox News division is independent from the Fox entertainment division).

So GB did ANY of these folks work for "KO" or "Countdown", or just MSNBC? I think it's more than just spliting hairs to try and justify a difference in comparisons to "Fox Sports" and "Fox News" when he worked for Murdock either way. He (KO) stated there was a "conflict of interest" for these people to write about him and most REASONABLE people would see the same thing is HIS actions. But if you feel it's different when KO does it you a more than free to feel that way. I personally feel it's a linear comparison.
Trekkie,
I know my heroes cower under their desks, attack inferiors, and demand written requests before speaking to people. Didn't Captain Kirk do that too?
Funny how TVNewser hasn't covered this story! It is a nice juicy one. I know they read the Daily News today because they REFERENCE IT IN THEIR MONICA CROWLEY COVERAGE! Did they just miss this anti-Keith tirade? Or did they decide that it is bad for Keith and should be shelved? Geee. . .hmmmm. . . I wonder!
Everybody SEND TIPS ON THIS STORY TO TVNEWSER!
http://mediabistro.com/tvnewser/
I sent one. If the story is ignored, we have pretty strong (additional) circumstantial evidence of Olbfuscation from that site! After all, the O'Reilly feud and O'Reilly phonegate story and Olby's rants on CSPAN all get the royal treatment over there -- why not this story?
TVNewser is an embarrassment. The 20 year-old kid who runs it is pretty close to Olbermann, that's no secret. He panders to him all the time and is clearly looking for a job, even though it's doubtful that Countdown will still be on-air when he graduates. If you do a count on the stories he posts, almost every positive Olbermann story from liberal columnists or blogs will be showcased. If there's criticism of him, you'll rarely find it there. Some guy e-mailed TVNewser earlier in the week (it's published there) and also pointed out that no positive O'Reilly stories make it to his site either, only attacks from left-wingers and such. Another good example, there were many tough articles blasting David Gregory after his silly grandstanding during the Cheney hunting 'story' that did not make the site, yet a fluff piece on him being an "potential anchor" was splashed all over his page today. I guess that's why TVNewser is relatively popular among press people, it's the same liberal nonsense that permeates most TV newsrooms on a daily basis.
Trekkie Knocked out for the count.
Once again.
Loser!
Check out this pathetic response from the TVNewser kid. Takes Olbermann's side completely, as predicted.
--------------
Several anonymous tipsters have criticized me for "ignoring" yesterday's N.Y. Daily News column by Lloyd Grove. In the piece, Grove attacks "Krazy Keith" Olbermann for naming him the "Worst Person in the World" on Tuesday.
"How about some fair and balanced cable news coverage, or is Olby only covered when he looks good?," one person wrote. "If you don't post the Grove column you are a hypocrit," another said, spelling the word hypocrite wrong.
These readers apparently didn't notice that I have ignored the entire Olbermann/Grove spat. Last week, Grove wrote about an affair involving NBC Nightly News employees.
Then on Monday, Grove took Olbermann's C-SPAN statements out of context, concluding that the MSNBC anchor "deeply distrusts the top brass at NBC and its parent company, General Electric."
And on Tuesday, Grove reported on Alison Stewart's engagement to MSNBC VP Bill Wolff.
You'll notice that I never posted any of this. To me, the most interesting thing about Grove's NBC obsession was the fact that his fun and affable assistant, Katherine Thomson, used to work at MSNBC. I thought about pointing this out on the blog, but chose not to.
On Monday afternoon, Olbermann blogged about it, calling it an "extraordinary conflict of interest" that "wouldn't have gotten past the editor of my 4th Grade Class Newspaper."
Grove responded with some insults on Wednesday. Trying to avoid this story does not make me an "Olbermann sympathizer" or any of the nasty insults tossed my way via e-mail in the last 24 hours. It just demonstrates my desire to stay a little bit above it, whenever possible.
Anyone who reads TVNewser knows what a pathetic, anemic attempt this is to "explain" why he didn't post the item when it first ran in the NYDN. Oh, and TVNewser NEVER misspells words. If this item were about Bill O'Reilly, Anderson Cooper or any other Fox or CNN personality, TVNewser would have run gleefully to his PC to post it at the top of the page with a banner headline and graphics. Then he would have spent the next several days running reax articles. I'm glad you got the entire text of the item before Brian could be instructed to remove it from the site.
Trekkie is intellectually a Gnome!
He has backed out of evry challenge!
TVNewser's smear campaign continues. It sure looks like this kid is "staying above the insults." Two posts later, he defends Judge Edward Cashman. Remember, this is the judge who let a child rapist walk away with probation before caving to O'Reilly's relentless pressure and changing the sentence.
Sure, TVNewser, you are real fair.

"Well, Stephen, He's An Idiot"
I finally downloaded the Tuesday night edition of Comedy Central's Colbert Report, with guest Keith Olbermann. You may have already read about this, but here are some highlights, since I'm sure it will be referenced by someone at some point..
COLBERT: Why do you have a problem with my hero, papa bear Bill O'Reilly? You guys have been going at it, hammer and tongs.
OLBERMANN: Well Stephen, he's an idiot.
[APPLAUSE]
COLBERT: You say that like it's a bad thing. I think he sees the world simply, okay? Without all your complicated facts.
[LAUGHER]
Did i nail ya?
OLBERMANN: We're both saying the same thing, he's an idiot! So, yes, I agree with you, yes.
A great laugh line came a moment later:
COLBERT: ...The only thing that is not inconsistent [with O'Reilly] is the only thing that matters: that he feels he's right...do you sometimes think you're wrong? Have you ever said, I might have been wrong on this?
OLBERMANN: Oh yes--
COLBERT: Then why should i listen to you? You're sometimes wrong!
OLBERMANN: Ahhhh, I see.
COLBERT: How can I trust -- you didn't know you were wrong at the time. How can I know that you're that you're right this time? I...I...you're just shooting yourself in the foot.
OLBERMANN: I just, I just, I misread that day the list of instructions that I get every morning at 9 a.m. from Hillary Clinton, and I just screwed it up, that's the problem.
[LAUGHTER]
To be fair, NewsBusters didn't think it was very funny...

WOW! I might start buying the Daily News again.
