Olbermann Watch, "persecuting" Keith since 2004

    April 5, 2006
C-SPAN Slashes Price on Olbermann DVD

C-SPAN announced today they are dropping prices on its unwatchable "Q&A with Keith Olbermann" video. Prices have been cut from $29.95 to $19.95.

The govertment affairs cable network has been stuck for weeks with a warehouse full of Keith Olbermann DVDs and VHS tapes. Our inside sources say KO fans will be best advised to wait for the summer clearance when the DVDs will be sold as drink coasters - $1.99 for a case of 24.

Given the scintillating topics covered, it's hard to understand why the videos are not sellling:

In an interview about television journalism, Mr. Olbermann talked about his childhood, his early love for broadcasting, his principles, specific shows he has hosted, and networks where he worked, including FOX and MSNBC. He emphasized the role of ratings in broadcasting and cable television, and talked about the ratings effects of the Monica Lewinsky scandal and the death of Princess Diana. He also talked about his health problems.

Gee, why is it no surprise that C-Span reports "Customers who bought this product also purchased..."

"25th Anniversary of Reagan Assassination Attempt"

Ah, the good old days for the loony left.

Gee, why is it no surprise that C-Span reports "Customers who bought this product also purchased..."

"25th Anniversary of Reagan Assassination Attempt

    Ouch.

I guess they watch it and watch it and watch hoping that one of these times Hinckley will finally get that bastard Reagan.

Speaking of Reagan, was anyone else listening to Garrison Keillor on the Saturday that Reagan died? Keillor stopped the show and announced the death.

And the audience cheered and applauded.

    Double ouch.

Appears that some of the audience may be posting here.

    SMG

"In an interview about television journalism, Mr. Olbermann talked about..."

Isn't it improper to use "journalism" and "Olbermann" in the same sentence?

What a hilarious satirical site! Does Keith know about it? I hope so. I've bookmarked you, right next to Jesus' General. You could take a few tips from him to make your satire funnier. Keep it up!

    Ariadne,

Of course Keith knows about it - reading it, making noises about taking legal action for past posts, trying to get people fired for posting on it, complaining to TV critics that we are "persecuting" him. He is obesseed with ANYONE who dares critize him.

If you watch Countdown and read OlbermannWatch you will see that Keith routinely makes changes to Countdown based on our critque of his show. As the largest Keith Olbermann web site online, Keith has little choice but to bow to our dictates.

"bow to our dictates"? aren't you full of yourself, and full of shit as well. "Keith routinely makes changes to Countdown based on our critique of his show." you truly are living in a fantasy world of your own design, you and the entire republican party. or as was commented before on another page:

"the faith-based (not reality-based) "ditto heads" of the republican right lead the way in ignoring the facts-on-the-ground to further their opportunitistic and unprincipled pursuit to tell others how to live in their petty, insecure, narrow-minded, bigoted, sexist, nationalistic view of how the world should work.

you ignore the facts on the ground in Iraq, New Orleans, global warming, oil dependence, and especially at ground zero. all in the name of pushing their narrow-minded fear-based views on others and making a buck.

you should be ashamed of yourselves for supporting moron bush and the entire republican party in the first place, and for continuing to do so in light of the countless ways they have discredited this country, abridged our liberties, and endangered the entire world. you truly are a fool's fool, and can't even see it, or as someone once said, "The thing about bad people is, they don't know that they're bad."

Anyone else notice that "All videos are produced on demand after the order is placed" (they don't have a "warehouse full" of anything) and that EVERY Q&A video is "on sale"? (including those with Bill Kristol and Laura Ingraham). Could anyone actually be so deluded that such simple facts elude them? Sadly, the idiocy of some right-wringers makes it so difficult to tell if it's someone from the right wanting to be taken seriously or someone from the left mocking the "truthiness" of the wingnuts.

    Mr. Cox

That was brutal!...... But I liked it!

    Dave,
What liberties of your have been taken away.
Can you name for me 5 liberties that Bush took away from you? Also, the World has always been a mess. We have very little to do with that.
The Rise of Militarist China and Islamo-Fascism is what's screwing up the world.
I agree that we are too dependant on foreign oil, but Clinton did nothing about that too. Please think for yourself and not repeat Stalinist-Nazi style group thinking.
Give me 5 personal liberties that you were able to do before Bush came into power that you can't do now?

    @ O'Lielly

Is that the bar for Republicans? Not tryin to be partisan but if 5 liberties were named thats 4 too many but you're fine with 1 thru 4 and 5 equalling an objection, I guess

and by changing the subject to Clinton that does nothing but to say "Bush is wrong...well...So was Clinton"

Its not even a defense, its a distraction

Bush 41 did it too....Regan did it too and on and on

There once lived a host and a fool
From both sides of his mouth did he drool
    Another day, another dolor
    For he of curious color
    Krazy Keith... the left-wing tool

Loss of liberties brought to you by the fascist administration's Fatherland Security Department and the (un)Patriot Act:

-- Passports to get RFID chip implants.
-- Group warns bill contains national ID.
-- FBI's right to personal info from libraries.
-- FBI's right to secretly demand financial records.
-- HHS rules govt can access medical information.
-- Surveillance of legal-assembly protesters by FBI.
-- Bypassed FISA court illegal warrantless wiretaps.
    -- Homeland employment verification database.
-- Military's national recruiting database system.

Just to name a few ... and that took me just a couple minutes. Not to mention all the data mining that's going on (i.e., convicted/pardoned felon Poindexter's Total Information Awareness project). but then again all the morons at this site probably believe that "Patriots don't need Privacy". so much for the fourth amendement.

"Also, the World has always been a mess. We have very little to do with that."

what a stupid thing to say ... you people really are idiots.

Krazy Keith only asks to be taken seriously. Is that so wrong? The hilarious "Ted Baxter" voice ( I know it's supposed to be the voice of Ted Baxter, KK makes that clear every time he uses it) is one of the greatest devices ever used on a serious NEWS SHOW. The guy laughing just off camera thinks so too. Oh, and isn't Krazy-eyed Keith calling O'Reilly " The Giant Head" akin to Dom Deluise calling Paul Prudhomme " A Big Fat Guy" ? Krazy Keith, look in a mirror! Human heads don't get much bigger. Rumor is Tim Burton is in talks with Olbermann, Krazy-Eyes might star in some movie about headless corpses and jack-o-lanterns. I hope KK gets to use that funny voice on the big screen!

    Keith talks about:

"his childhood, his early love for broadcasting, his principles, specific shows he has hosted, and networks where he worked, including FOX and MSNBC"

I bet the involved discussion of his principles lasted all of ten seconds. How can you discuss something you don't have? Did he discuss what it is like to live in the fourth dimension as well?

    As for:

"Customers who bought this product also purchased...25th Anniversary of Reagan Assassination Attempt"

It should really say "THE customer who bought this also purchased . . ." and I bet Keith was that customer.

I don?t get this site? What the heck is going on? Keith Olberman is one of maybe two journalists that report actual facts, and you hate him? Wow, you know what your problem is you (and most Republicans) think that fact=librul. The fact is, a fact is something real or a real occurrence. I like how you (and most Republicans) look past facts and muddy the waters. Much like this post? your post is about a fucking video that is on sale. Now that?s news!!!!! (sarcastic) Then you go ahead and back your argument up with conjecture (not facts) making the story more empty than the headline.

Just to help you out, here are some examples:
?unwatchable ?Q&A with Keith Olbermann? video? ? your opinion, should be noted that this is not a fact. Did you take high school journalism? When trying to portray KO as an insufficient journalist, try not breaking all the tried and true methods of journalism, k?

?Our inside sources say KO fans will be best advised to wait for the summer clearance when the DVDs will be sold as drink coasters - $1.99 for a case of 24.?- obvious lie and not really funny to me, I might add.

Not sure what the 25th Anniversary of Reagan Assassination Attempt has to do with anything, are you trying to say that liberals like history and fact? I don?t get it.

The fact is there are many reasons that the video is on sale. Could be an overstock. Could be that they charge more for new videos, once they?re old, they lower the price. Could be that nobody?s buying it.

Start posting some fact and maybe, maybe you?ll have yourself a somewhat reputable website helpful to viewers.

I liked Keith even when he was a local sports guy (and I don't like sports). Some of you can't seem to stand that there are broadcasters willing to shine a light on the fetid cesspool of political machinations without first checking party talking points. Methinks thou doth protest too much.

I also enjoyed his C-SPAN Q&A. Who would have guessed a bump on the noggin would render one permanently unable to drive a car (and he lived in LA fer chrissakes!)?

    Johnny Dollar-

Maybe you should create a list of Olbermann's top ten lies and/or distortions. Perhaps the people who claim Krazy Keith reports facts need to be spoon fed.

Olbermann fans, ask yourelf, and try to be honest, the following question: Why hasn't he mentioned the name of Cynthia McKinney or the incident with the capital police? Every other major news outlet has. Now, heres where you must be intellectually dishonest: Were it a GOP congressperson involved in the same incident, would not Keith Olbermann be talking of it every night?
Let's call a spade a spade here. Olbermann is a mouthpiece for the left and doesn't deserve to be taken seriously. P.S. I see he has fallen below Nancy Grace again in the ratings. Poor Keith.

    Yo Dave,

If Dana Milbank, KO's butt-boy (aka go-to-guy), thinks KO is not to be taken seriously why should you?

    ObserverDan:
Way to illustrate the rather tenuous grasp conservatives so often have on facts (or reality for that matter). On the March 29 edition of Countdown Olbermann DID mention the Cynthia McKinney incident (transcript here: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12079639/), and in fact she was one of the nominees for "Worst Person in the World." Here's what KO said:
"Runner-up Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, the Democrat of Georgia, U.S. Capitol Police considering whether to press charges against her after an incident today at the Longworth House office building. An officer said he did not recognize the congresswoman when she entered the building and went around metal detectors which members are allowed to do. When he caught up to her and grabbed her arm he says she swung and punched him in the chest."

Care to be man enough own up to the simple fact that you were WRONG?

Ah yes! He mentioned McKinney once on the day she punched the cop, then mentioned her one other time in the process of bashing a conservative who said something stupid about her hairstyle!

Never mind the multiple press conferences and allegations since the punch was thrown, as McKinney acts like a nut and her fellow congresspeople run for cover! After all, Keith mentioned it once and that is enough. He never does multiple stories on the same subject. Just look at the "great leak case" and Scooter Libby!

I must have blinked at the wrong moment. I missed the lone reference to McKinney. My argument is still valid, were this a GOP scandal, Krazyeyes Keith would be all over it wall to wall!

    Lance,

While it may be true "there are broadcasters willing to shine a light on the fetid cesspool of political machinations without first checking party talking points", KO ain't one of them.

This site has documented numerous examples of Keith lifting material directly from left-wing web sites and parroting left-wing talking points. Sites include AmeriBlog, CrooksandLiars.com, Raw Story, Democrats.com. Shall I go on?

    Dave,
A few of those things you mentioned aren't law and the rest is for law enforcement.
Tell me 5 things you can do before Bush got elected that you can't do now?
If this is Fascist stae then why aren't there death squads hunting people like you down?
Come on give me 5 real freedoms you lost, not abstract things that don't effect anyones life.
    Stop your Maoist group thinking.

You may feel that it's a valid argument, but it's one with no support or evidence backing it up (believing something isn't the same thing as an actual fact, although I suppose that among conservatives it does have a air of truthiness). The truth is, McKinney isn't that big of a story. Not because she's a democrat, but because a member of Congress getting into a scuffle with a security guard isn't in same league as, say, for example, the outing of a CIA operative for the sole purpose of political payback.

    Seven Minutes...

    SEVEN Minutes...

    SEVEN MINUTES...

That's how long OUR PRESIDENT Bush sat after being told our country was under attack. In the nuclear era, during an attack on our country, OUR PRESIDENT JUST SAT THERE! It's something that he's good at - sitting there doing nothing - as with Katrina. Bush is just bad for the country period. How can ANYONE defend him after watching him just sat in that classroom reading a stupid story?!! I've heard it said that he did it to reassure the kids - but that's just crazy! The kids didn't know what was going on - BUT BUSH DID!!

Republicans, Bush doesn't DESERVE your support. He doesn't DESERVE your respect, for he has none for you.

Republicans want to make this about Democrats vs. Republicans, but that's just a smoke screen. It has nothing to do with something as trivial as that.

How could anyone - ANYONE - defend a President, be he Democrat or Republican, who DID NOTHING for SEVEN MINUTES after being told our country was under attack?

Find a more worthy person to support as for a Republican President. Someone such as John McCain. Bush and Rove tore that man's world apart in the election. McCain didn't deserve it. McCain wouldve made a MUCH BETTER - a hundred times better - President. I happen to like McCain and wouldve voted for him. And as long as he wakes up and stops pandering to the far right radical religious community (like Jerry Falwell), McCain will have my vote in 2008. Why? Because I don't see a strong Democrat candidate that I like. I always thought of McCain as a moderate Republican - but lately he has me worried the way he fawns all over people like Jerry Falwell.

But anyway, my point is, why attack anyone as a "liberal Democrat" just because they criticize Bush? Bush DESERVES to be criticized! He's not a good President and he's been horrible for this country. Why do you think there is such a divide between Democrats and Republicans right now? If it had been someone like McCain as President, you wouldn't have seen this huge gulf between moderate Republicans and Democrats. MOST people are in the middle when it comes to their personal beliefs and politics. Not all Democrats are "liberal" and not all Republicans are "radical". This country's beliefs are moderate. It took a radical President to open up such a marked chasm and split our country apart.

In this country people have a right to speak up - no matter if the person next to you hates what you're saying. Bush has made it a rule that to speak up - even if you're a Republican - then you're labeled a "liberal" Democrat and opened to scorn, hate, ridicule and even being called a traitor.

Stop placing blame on "liberal" Democrats or even on "radical" Republicans and place the blame where it belongs - on the shoulders of George W. Bush.

Holy crap, you're actually serious about this site making an impact? "no choice but to bow to our dictates." That's even funnier! Oh well, thanks for the laugh regardless.

    Yeah....good luck with this.

    >>If this is Fascist stae then why aren't there death squads hunting people like you down?
Come on give me 5 real freedoms you lost, not abstract things that don't effect anyones life.

So I guess if there aren't death squads everything is just hunky-dory. A lot of what's in the Constitution are "abstract things," but that doesn't make it meaningless or not worth fighting for. The simple fact that we have a president that believes that he has the right to detain people without charge for as long as he wants scares the S*** out of me even if I'm not the one sitting in jail.

Just who is he detaining? American citizens? People caught on the battlefield? Do you even know you moron?

Jose Padilla is an American citizen arrested on American soil (Chicago). For the first three years of his detention was held without charge and without access to his lawyer or family. The only reason he was charged with anything is because the courts refused to go along with an imperial presidency.

Ah! Your pal the dirty bomber eh? Here is my response:

    http://www.nationalreview.com/lowry/lowry062002.asp

Julian Epstein wrote in the Washington Post last week, "Pursuant to the Geneva conventions and ample precedent in U.S. law, the Bush administration is well within its rights to detain those properly determined to be lawful or unlawful combatants until the conclusion of the armed conflict, and only then to try them in a properly constituted military tribunal, a military court or in civilian courts."

Lawrence Tribe was slightly more sour in the New York Times but nonetheless wrote that "releasing captured soldiers who belong to an enemy force committed to the murder of American civilians — whether that force is the army of a nation-state or of a transnational organization like Al Qaeda — is suicidal."

You want to release this maniac, do so where you live. I don't need a dirty bomb exploding in my back yard.

As for the remaining detainees caught on the battlefield, I'm sure you don't care if they get released and run back to kill our troops, but enough sane people in this country do.

Wanna talk about Olbermann by the way?

FREE PADILLA! After all, all he did was this:

Padilla, an American citizen and multiple prior felon with a juvenile murder conviction on his résumé, moved to Egypt and adopted militant Islam after being released from prison following a 1991 Florida weapons conviction. According to information proffered by the government to the federal district court, he traveled through the Middle East, eventually teaming up with al Qaeda in Afghanistan. In 2001 — long after bin Laden had already declared war against the United States, simultaneously bombed our embassies in Kenya and Tanzania (killing well over 200), and attacked the U.S.S. Cole in Yemen (killing 17 of our military personnel) — Padilla is said to have proposed to one of bin Laden's most intimate aides, the infamous Abu Zubaydeh, a plan to steal radioactive material within the United States in order to build a dirty bomb (or "radiological dispersal device"). Al Qaeda made available a safe house in Lahore, Pakistan, for research on the project, provided Padilla with the necessary training for this and other terror operations, and then dispatched him to the United States to make mayhem.

    You guys are idiots.

The Padilla legal case is complex. What is known is that the president believes that he can detain an American citizen indefinitely, without charge. That's scary. If Bush had his way, the president could just call anyone an enemy combatant and throw them in jail WITHOUT JUDICIAL OVERSIGHT. I'm fully aware of what Padilla is accused of, but that really doesn't matter (particularly since without a court hearing there is no way of knowing if the accusations have merit). Bush tried his best to circumvent the judicial process and the Constitution. That's the important point.

The loonies think Olby's a sage
    And react with hysterical rage
    When critics reveal
    The facts he conceals
And the tan of a color so strange

Love the pic of Groucho Marx currently at the top of the page!!

ANOTHER Homeland Security guy gets busted for child pornography?!

Does Bush vet anybody for any job in this administration, or is it all just buddy after buddy after buddy who gets in (Brownie), who gets the contracts (Dubia, Halliburton)? One big Harriet Miers administration.

But this one really takes the cake. The head of Operation Predator was a child sex predator? Jesus Christ people. I'd like to know how this guy got his job.

...that law enforcement agent, Frank Figueroa, used to run Operation Predator.

The victim, a 16-year-old girl, said Figueroa pulled up a leg of his shorts, exposed himself and masturbated for about 10 minutes, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Just MOTS (more of the same) from the bushies. These guys are all chummy and shit togeth. Frat boy types. Priveledged spoiled upbringing types. Think the Duke lacrosse team. Think Skull and Bones. Think George Bush on coke for half his life. They're all a--holes. Typical republicans. So the pedophiles from Homeland Security are no big surprise.

Please, I know it's off topic but does anyone know what the hell they were talking about last night concerning Olberman and the Washington post. Thanks, Eddie

    Anonymous (aka "Padilla lover") scribbled:

"The Padilla legal case is complex."

Very profound indeed! He or she further elucidated:

"I'm fully aware of what Padilla is accused of, but that really doesn't matter (particularly since without a court hearing there is no way of knowing if the accusations have merit). . ."

And there you have it. It "doesn't matter" what Padilla is accused of. Anyone dumb enough to state that is unworthy of consuming oxygen. It very much DOES MATTER.

To all the Leftists except Trekkie,
You guys talk about freedoms being taken away, name for me 5 things you can do before Bush that you can't do now?
You guys can't because there are no freedoms that have been taken away.
We have the freedom of Speech, the Right to bear Arms, Freedom of Religion and economic freedoms.
the fact is we are far from a dictatorship, if this was one all you Lefties would be killed by Death Squads and thrown in Detention centers.
The fact is the argument brought up by Dave is really intellectually stupid!

Off the top of my head I'll answer for the lefties. Let see, perhaps attend a publicly funded political event without fear of being arrested or somesuch? Or maybe criticize the Prez or Reps without fear that I might be considered a terrorist and incarcerated without anyone knowing it or having a lawyer? Or maybe be in the wrong place at the wrong time and automatically arrested and held without any proof of wrongdoing? That's just off the top of my head!

I love the new labels...that way ppl already knows what to call ppl, instead of actual debate

cant defend it, then mock it and hope ppl dont notice

    lame

without fear of being arrested..... without fear that I might be considered

So having "fear" that something may happen is the same thing as having your civil liberties taken away?

You're afraid that "you might be arrested" or afraid that "you might be considered...."

No actual liberties have been denied you. You're just "afraid" that possibly something may happen to you?

Let me add that the decision by the Administration to hold Padilla without charges was a gross violation of the law. That was indefensible. So, I'm certainly not an apologist for the White House.

However, I do think that these claims that our liberties have been taken away are a little over the top. Compared to the actions of other Presidents during war, Bush's curtailment of liberties has been (nearly) non-existent. Far more egregious things were done, as we all know, by FDR or Wilson or even Truman (the Steel Mills cases) than by Bush.

Obviously because previous executives did "bad" things doesn't excuse the "bad" thing by current presidents. But it's good to keep a bit of a historical perspective here, it seems to me.

    SteveMG,
You see the leftists know that no freedoms have been taken away. They just say this because in Marxist philosophy if a lie is repeated often enough people begin to think it's true. They know there lying. Thanks for backing me up on this.

This webiste is typical of a "radical" type Republican who retorts to name calling rather than deal with the facts. I've seen nothing in your site but name calling and gossip. You've done nothing to dispute the facts that KO presents every night.

Why is it that only these far-right radical blogs are the primary ones who either take off dissenting view points or tag little nasty names at the top of each post they don't agree with?

You call tell the owner of this blog is a far-right Republican and not a moderate Republican, because he has decided to do name calling on a blog where he invites dialogue! But I guess he meant ONLY for viewpoints that reflect his are allowed to post unmolested.

Talk about crying partisan attacks when he is just like those Republicans who play a game of "Screw the facts! Since HE said something I don't like, it's my duty to be as nasty as possible – so there!"

    Stupid and childish.

How do you expect anyone to take you seriously when all you do is tag partisan names above people's posts?

Far-right Republicans are losing ground fast when they ignore what the people have to say. Americans are waking up and realizing that no amount of name calling covers up the fact that Republicans in the House, Senate, and the White House are incompetent.

And as much as some Republicans hate Democrats, they are starting to say in NO WAY did Democrats screwed things up THIS BAD during their first six years in control!

Republicans look to the Reagan years as their moment of shining glory, but they see that the Bush years will be known as how they crashed and burned.

Why doesn't some of those moderates (both Republican and Democrat) get some backbone and start listening to the American people?

Poor Bush. Our poor leader! He didn't do anything! How was he to know?

I guess it's not considered noble for a President to take responsibility for his actions! As the most powerful man in the world - how was HE to know anything important that has happened in his terms?

It would be like a Captain who won't take responsibility for his ship and when it hits an iceberg - oh well! It was his fault!

Make way! Make way! You there! Get out of that lifeboat! This lifeboat is reserved for the CAPTAIN!

Ever notice how libs always fall back on the refrain of "Why is it that only these far-right radical blogs are the primary ones who either take off dissenting view points or tag little nasty names at the top of each post they don't agree with?" It is so familiar because they put it (or some variation of it) on every Conservative website.

Ever tried to get a dissenting comment posted on HuffPo, DU or KOS. Won't happen.

Maybe a lib (Alishye) can explain why (when the majority of comments on here lately are by libs) they keep crying that their comments aren't posted.

Could it be you're too busy parroting Micheal Moore's talking points on multiple topics here to actually think about what you're writing?

    You can't be 38417 serious?!?
