The blue blogs who rally behind Keith Olbermann have sent a torrent of Olby Defenders to these pages. Some of them call names. Others post irrelevancies. Some of them adopt a more intelligent approach and address the points of controversy revolving around the "journalism" of Keith Olbermann.
Our synopsis of Tuesday's Countdown raised several specific issues with Mr Olbermann and his "newscast". Yet his defenders have suddenly been struck mute. Nobody wants to make an argument for the extremely specious reportage on Tuesday's Hour of Spin. Perhaps we need a new posting, and a new thread, to smoke out Olby's Army. Olbermann Watch wants to hear an honest analysis of these questions:
HELLOOOOOOOO, Olbermann supporters?? Anyone home today? All I hear is the steady chirp of the crickets. I see it this way. Keith, it will be a rare day indeed when a person of your station brings down, even by a mere peg, a bona fide journalist of the stature of Brit Hume. Keith, you thought you had him yesterday. You blew it. You missed by a country mile. Will you aknowledge your misfire? If you do, your credibility will actually increase in my eyes. Here's your chance.
If Olbermann will not have Hitchens on his show to fulfill this basic tenet of fair reporting, should he not have him on to let him respond to Wilson's attacks?
Considering Hitchens' writings, he probably try to spin the latest "theory" - that the discredited "yellowcake" document was actually disinformation designed to distance Niger from a real visit by Iraqi officials.
Not to mention Hitchens prefers diatribes to dialogues, which makes him better suited for O'Reilly or Scarborough.
The only evidence he cited was that the guy behind the scheme made phone calls to a general number at the White House.
You left out the part about all of the calls occurring in the three days around the 2002 election. That's what makes the evidence circumstantial.
Is it responsible reporting to claim phone calls prove the White House was involved in a crime?
I think it's hyperbole, but with this White House's track record of doing things that seem dubious at best...
Should Keith Olbermann correct the record on tonight's Countdown and apologize for smearing his more successful competitor?
Guven the evidence, I would have to say yes.
With yet another mis-quote (remember the "9 times the viewers" remark he made such hay of)when will KO be forced to nominate himself for WPITW? At least he should be worser tonight for this one.
I have more faith in KEITH than any talking head om fox or cnn. KEITH give the news the others give their opionions, kids, there is a BIG differents in that and when or if you grow up you will hopfully know the truth.
I like "Countdown", but you're right, it is biased as all get out. I can't excuse it nor defend its lack of objectivity. But with Fox News being similarly biased nearly 24 hours a day, it's nice to have a show with a different take on cable news.
The fact is Olbermann is used to saying things unchallenged. Hitchens would eat him for lunch and destroy his world view with reality.
Countdown is a reflection of its host, KO. In a word -- Boring.
At under 400,000 viewers, is anybody really even watching this show.
boring is in the eye of the beholder. 150K watch him every night and swoon to his breathtaking grasp of the issues and poignant comment. keith tells the truth and we love him for it. you guys spread lies and hate him for it. it's as simple as that.
DOH! Gotcha Bobby! I doesn't just SEEMS that way, now does it?
I guess Gotcha is referring to this exchange which I gather he wants me to share here:
================
Oh, a name caller, no less. Darth Coulter has taught you well! Maybe it does just SEEMS that way .. whoops, check that grammar, big guy!
"or does it just SEEMS that way?"
