"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Guest Host: Brian Unger
Topics/Guests:
Comedian Brian Unger, substituting for comedian and prolific emailer Keith Olbermann, led off with the President's press conferece. He said Bush was trying to "sell the idea that everything's beginning to come up roses" in Iraq. That led into a report from David Gregory who said the President "repeatedly resisted the temptation" to sound optimistic. Who you gonna believe, the clown or the correspondent? Maybe this is Countdown's attempt at "fair and balanced".
The FEMA segment was about fraudulent claims after the hurricanes. Unmentioned were the complaints back at the time that the amount of the aid was too small, and it wasn't coming fast enough. Surprise, surprise, the faster you hand out government money, the less accurately you can screen who gets it.
Finally, in talking to Slater, the ex-Comedy Channel entertainer ticked off some of "Karl Rove's work", including "managing the death of Zarqawi". See? It really was another Karl Rove trick!!
The only Countdown left is the Countdown to Cancellation. I say we start a cancellation pool. I pick July as the month Keith gets the bad news.
I pick August. Nice and hot and sweating. Do these people even realize how terrible they act? Ok dumb question.
Bryant Gumble just grimaced. Willard Scott called Rita Cosby and they both had a good laugh.
The O-mann knows time is rapidly running out. Keef is down in Nawlins gettin' himself one of them FEMA sex changes and some FEMA porn all the while puking over a balcony as he screams for someone to throw him some beads as he bears his chest. Holy schnikeys!
From TVAbuser:
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/msnbc/jeff_zucker_wants_more_emphasis_on_crime_lots_of_repeats_on_msnbc_38461.asp#email
"Jeff Zucker Wants "More Emphasis On Crime & Lots Of Repeats" On MSNBC"
. . . Sources say the two Alpha males clashed on their visions for the network -- Zucker wanted more emphasis on crime and lots of repeats; Kaplan wanted more fresh news. Big Rick is about a foot taller than Zucker, but Zucker outranks him.
Well, finally a guy with vision! Talk about the blind leading the blind and retarded! In its current state MSLSD is atrocious. I agree that a step above the current situation would involve repeats and crime specials. However, what kind of mind thinks that is a best case scenario! Goes to show ya the mindset at MBC proper is to use MSLSD as a source of money to run the main network. What happens at MSLSD is irrelevant as long as it doesn't cause problems. Given Krazy Keith's recent PR debacles, I see trouble brewing. Perhaps the final Meltdown is near?
NBC EXECUTIVES MEET OVER MORE OLBERMANN EMAILS SET FOR PUBLICATION, SAY SOURCES... DEVELOPING...
Drudge reports MSNBC execs meeting over more soon to be public emails. Poor Keith. We should discuss who next this site should cover once Keith exits stage left. In defense of Keith's issues with women, I did see he was complimentary of Renee Richards.
He never does a show again for MSNBC.
The writing is on the wall on this.
He's going after co-workers in a very crude fashion.
He assured his viewers(ie moonbats) of a pending indictment of Rove, stirring up an already ignorant and belligerent crowd and was completely wrong.
The diatribe that Keith wants to give ON AIR about Rove is something that MSNBC really doesn't need if they are going to have any access during an election year. The last thing they need is another Rathergate.
Russert is stabbing Keith in the back right now, smartly so.
Keith probably wants his contract paid in full-so he can say technically he wasn't fired, but he also wants to go to another medium(risking his ESPN radio gig) like Air America. MSNBC would love to get rid of him, but they don't want to be paying him while he instantly goes to another outlet and spews all over them. Can't wait to hear his rants about Matthews.
MSNBC will wind up firing him, or tape delaying him by about 12 hours. Right now, the execs at MSNBC are scanning their contracts, figuring out if he violated for his cracks on Cosby.
Keith and his running O'Reilly feud? See Howard Stern/ John deBella. Not an original bone in Keith's body.
Oops. Meant "bares," if anyone could bear it.
WW-
Nice ff tag.
Thanks. I shudder to think what Hollywood would do to the character.
Olbermann is depressed, his hero Zarqawi is dead and his show will be cancelled! Al-Jazeera is hiring!
Judging by had bad they butchered the first one, we'll never see ff2.
I made a killing off of MVL, when they announced in 01/02 they were going to do Spiderman.
Considering that Marvel has 4 of the top ten 3 day openings...
Their library is expansive. Motley Fool and Jim Kramer are in love with MVL. The problem is that the price has been stagnant for about 2 years.
Still a safe long term bet.
Actually #2 is on its way, fast track style, "immediately" following SM3 next year.
Galactus, the Silver Surfer, the whole shebang.
He's retooling the show with Abrams to make it a more serious news show. They'll get rid of the "stories my producers are making me do" and other fluff. Get ready for Countdown 2.0.
When are we gonna catch osama?? Will it be between Oct 2006, and Oct 2008??? I think sooo........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------====================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================22222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222221111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111?
Tee hee.

Assuming Lloyd Groves morning article the NY Daly News is correct and Mr. SprayCanTanMans emails are valid ("Go****your mother"), can we assume KO will name HIMSELF worst person in the world for actions he certainly would condemn in others???
Somehow, the above quote worked better for Joe Pesci in Goodfellas than for KO.
You can?t imagine how disappointed I was to hear that you actual write emails back to people who email you. I have been writing you for years and you never write back. I?ve seen your ratings and watched your show on occasion. The only question I have and the one question I have been asking for years but never get an answer is??. Who do you blow to be able to stay on the air? It?s a simple question, just a name or maybe just say the position of the person at MSNBC. Please respond.
SixStringBassPlayer,
Trust me, they're valid.
Just wondering if he'll look direclty into the camera, ala he did when talk ing about Coulter, red eyes barely visible becasue of the eyebrows covering much of his face, and say just what a dispicable human being he is - but I'll take odds he doesn't see airtime again
Actually the guest host does a better job with the Opie show than Opie does. - Proves an earlier point that a monkey could have done the show better - and probably had 3xs the ratings.
Bets are Opie is off to Air America & Media Matters to do their sports reporting - one 15 sec bit every four hours but ...the "places" have lsots of women and the noty saiur ehis stupidier than a suitcase of bricks comment will stand - though the kill yourself e-mails will be highly regarded
Brian Unger is aware that this week is his job interview to carry on " Countdown" with a new host. Kaplan and Co were smart not to name it " The Olbermann Show" .
I wouldn't count Olbermann out just yet. He's merely insulted former FOX News personality, Rita Cosby, and kicked Rick Kaplan while Kaplan's down...
It's not like Olbermann is dumb enough to have dissed Tim Russert or anything...
HOWEVER, if MSNBC does decide to encourage Olbermann to make the decision to 'move forward in my career' or 'return to my first love of sports' ... will this blog become "Unger Watch"?
I know I have reserved the web address "CouricWatch" Cecilia! (Actually I haven't but somebody should).
Nah...KFK,
It just wouldn't be the same.
Couric IS partisan and she is dumber than a refrigerator crate full of rocks... but she doesn't have the chilling malevolence of a Olbermann.
She's just a perky cheerleader for limosine liberalism.
That is true, but give her a chance -- she might surprise you.
We need a unified thread on the recent developments. I am on the "Rita" thread while you are on this one, and I can't stop myself. It is just too much fun.
Based on the very trivial criteria it takes to be WPITW, Olby is absolutely the Worst Person in the World!!
Also, I move for someone to create a Howard Dean Watch site. Sure he doesn't have his own show (thank God) but he's in the same vein as Olby; a dangerous, lying, and (to borrow "C's" adjective) malevolent far-left Liberal who seems to be on the same path of self-destruction as Olby.
Meltdown is now in the dead pool
Keith tossed out like a dull tool
"I'm sorry" said Keith
Hall Of Fame I bequeath
A fitting end for the cowardly fool
I've never seen so many people in such a small place hate one person they've never met before. Someone needs to come in here and do a case study on "How to tell your ass from a hole in the ground."
Nonfactor,
I've never met you either, but you make it pretty clear that you're an utter putz.
Hey Nonfactor:
I think it's pretty clear we know Olbfuscatemann. There's plenty of evidence of him in front of and behind the camera) that he's a complete dick.
My brother's a complete dick, but that doesn't mean that he deserves to be a victim of blind hate. You guys here take it to a new, and obscene level.
Nonfactor:
We don't know your brother but face it, we know Olby. I don't need to have a drink with him to know what a S.O.B. he is. He's proven that time and again. Are you saying what we have been witness to is not his persona? Is he acting?
What makes you think he is any different that what he presents? He surely doesn't warrant the benefit of doubt with all that we've seen so why does he get it from you Nonfactor?

Hate? I'd compare any discussion here to an Atrios message board.
`we know Olby. I don't need to have a drink with him to know what a S.O.B. he is.`
come on. i`m not about to apologize for KO, but the guys at the top are all pretty much ascerbic and full of themselves and arguably a bunch of S.O.B.`s -- O`Reilly, Limbaugh, Scarborough, Mathews, Rather, Cheney, Carville, Atwater, etc.
how do you think they got to the top in the first place?
Nonfactor -
Sounds like you and your brother have a lot in common. It must run in the family.
You raise a good point Anon but I've never been so sure about someone being an SOB as Olby (except for maybe Hitler or Stalin). And don't start with the "you said Olby is as bad as Hitler" comments. That's not my point. Bottom line...Olby has zero integrity and I don't need to hang out with him to know that.
Richard Morin in the WaPo has a story on a report that is going to send the MSM into a tizzy. I saw it via Romenesko. Greg Sheffield linked it on Newsbusters.
What's Black and White and Red All Over?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/06/14/AR2006061402025.html
More ink equals more blood, claim two economists who say that newspaper coverage of terrorist incidents leads directly to more attacks.
It's a macabre example of win-win in what economists call a "common-interest game," say Bruno S. Frey of the University of Zurich and Dominic Rohner of Cambridge University.
"Both the media and terrorists benefit from terrorist incidents," their study contends. Terrorists get free publicity for themselves and their cause. The media, meanwhile, make money "as reports of terror attacks increase newspaper sales and the number of television viewers."
The actual report is available as a PDF file here:

Bob,
It's nothing these media clowns don't know already. I am amazed this made it into the Washington Post.
KFK, maybe it wasn't for the MSM. Maybe this is a case of the WaPo writing an article for us.
Scott,
I don't read WaPo enough to know. These things usually end up in the WSJ or online. If they are trying their hand at reporting the news instead of what they want the news to be, more power to 'em.
KFK, guess I should have written "rare case." But you got the point.
I think Bob's point was that the MSM will now have to come up with arguments to dispute the article/defend themselves.
Good luck!
