At least part of your ranking is how "clean" your site is. When spammers throw a billion links on here, they are effectively altering your rank. Google has bounced sites for abusive posts from users.
You mean the "definitive" site that has the 9,999 fake "members" signed up but mysteriously only has about 5 posters? Have you been to that train wreck?
