I have changed my mind. The future of television news is a reverse countdown show, where the "number five" story is the feature story and is often completely independent of the days events.

A grand alternative to the boring fact-based "news" shows out there where current events are the driving force, this new type of show turns news into entertainment without all the annoying details.

Imagine how cool you will look when you say, "I watch the news!" And yet you get to be entertained and know all about TomKat and Brangelina without hearing from boring people like Bush and Rumsfeld! Imagine how wildly studly you will look when you are able to weave a conspiracy theory at a party Keith-style! Wahoo!

Dan Abrams is following the "Branch Davidian" model of cable news channel management. It is a simple formula. You take a crazy zealot with terrible mental problems and make him the hope of your network. You simultaneously ignore the reality you have wrought (terrible ratings, inappropriate e-mails, solicitation from work of sexual photos from a viewer, the constant presentation of inaccurate or false news).

It takes a special type of moron to allow this to happen, hence the choice of Dopey Dan Abrams to head up MSLSD.
