On Monday, TVNewser falsely reported that FNC's Bridget Quinn is on maternity leave. A short while later, ICN spoke to FNC communicated with FNC directly and reported "Brigitte Quinn is not on maternity leave, as was incorrectly reported by the TV Newser blog. Quinn asked to have her hours cut back so that she may deal with a personal family issue. Her request has been granted, so viewers will see less of her each week on FNC."
This is hardly the first time a TVN rumor report has turned out badly - and likely won't be the last since TVN routinely publishes unsubstantiated, anonymous "tips" without bothering to fact-check them first. To his credit, at least this time Brian used a strikethough to correct the post instead of simply deleting it. Maybe next time he will link to the source of the correction and thank the source for providing the CORRECT information as is considered good form in the blogging community.
Mr. Cox,
I came across a worse piece of journalism written by someone named "Diego Vasquez", in "Media Life". This genius writes of Olbermann's "recent ratings surge", and notes that O'Reilly "more than doubles MSNBC's ratings in the hour". (I guess the concept of O'Reilly beating Olbermann by a factor of 7 or 8 is too painful to comprehend.)
I am having Outlook problems and cannot write a letter to these people, but I sure believe the obvious innacuracies should be corrected. Could you or someone else try to contact them to correct their errors? (And feel free to delete my post; I wasn't sure where else it could go). Thanks.

Another Robert Cox obsession. He's moved on from wikipedia and found another site. Let the crusades begin!
Not to worry Non, I am still keeping an eye on Wikipedia too.

The characteristic which defines the Bush movement, the glue which binds it together and enables and fuels all of the abuses, is the vicious, limitless methods used to attack and demonize the "Enemy," which encompasses anyone -- foreign or domestic -- threatening to their movement. What defines and motivates this movement are not any political ideas or strategic objectives, but instead, it is the bloodthirsty, ritualistic attacks on the Enemy de jour -- the Terrorist, the Communist, the Illegal Immigrant, the Secularist, and most of all, the "Liberal."

Are you kidding me? Voicing an opinion on a blog about a pudgy cable news blogger is "limitless"? You better get out a math book and read the definition of "limit." As for "vicious," you can not be serious. Wearing a mask of someone while throwing out a Nazi salute is vicious, not commenting on the ethics or lack thereof employed by an overweight college goofus with a hard-on for Krazy Keith Olbermann!

no, someone did not write that. no wonder it's so difficult to have a conversation at this site.
man, you people are stupid. nearly every single post is misunderstood or misinterpreted, or met with non-sequiturs or hyperbole.
I agree anonymous. Maybe personal family business is Foxspeak for "in the family way" which is a nice, Leave it to Beaver reference to being pregnant.
Brian was just trying to bring Fox's terminology up to the rest of the internet world
Missy,
I wrote to the Editor of MediaLife and the author of the piece you linked. Now, hold your breath waiting for a reply and/or correction.

Mr. [Diego] Vasquez,
I read your recent article on Keith Olbermann where you speculate as to the cause "'Countdown’s' recent ratings surge".
I have to wonder if you are aware that from their peak during and immediately after the 2006 Winter Olympics, parts of which were broadcast on MSNBC, the ratings for Countdown with Keith Olbermann have been in steady DECLINE over the past four months.
Over the past two months he had dropped back into fourth place in a three network race (he is also behind Nancy Grace on HLN). In order to make itself seem more competitive, the PR department at MSNBC has taken to promoting Countdown's ratings in the "25-54 Demo"; Countdown has now slipped back to behind Paula Zahn in the much-touted demo.
As I cover Keith Olbermann on my site, I am sure my readers would be fascinated to learn more about this "recent ratings surge" to which you refer?
