Brian writes "I love watching The O'Reilly Factor. And I love watching Countdown with Keith Olbermann. And I love when there's a hint of competition between the two."
And Brian's idea of "competition"?
According to TVN, "At 8:45pm, MSNBC had 244,000 and FNC had 240,000 demo viewers" so by OlbyLoon logic Keith Olbermann "beat" Bill O'Reilly last Friday.
Let me see if I have this right. A several months old tape of The O'Reilly Factor runs on the Friday before the Fourth of July Weekend against a live version of Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Fox News beats MSNBC in the time slot, and beats them in the supposedly "all-important" demo but the news over at TVN is "Olbermann Beats O'Reilly" with a note that "they used to call it a fluke when Countdown started taking 15 minute chunks from Paula Zahn too."
And Brian claims to be insulted that he would be accused of being an Olby-Loving, Fox hater?
Becky at Relevent Torture calls it a fleeting triumph and notes "Confucius say, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
In related OlbyLoon news, after outscoring the top-rated Italian team in the second quarter of their Group E match up, the U.S. Soccer Team was awarded the FIFA World Cup. Elsewhere, Melky Cabrera of The New York Yankees moved into a first-place tie with Lou Gehrig yesterday on the list of all-time Grand Slam home runs, hit on a single pitch, during a regular season game, with three men on base. And finally, Al Gore announced he will not seek a third-term as President of the United States.
Clearly, viewers of the O'Reilly Factor decrease throughout the hour because they're so old they can't stay awake until 9:00.
Brian>> "I love watching The O'Reilly Factor. And I love watching Countdown with Keith Olbermann. And I love when there's a hint of competition between the two."
Me: Sickened by the thought of this misguided fool writhing in ecstasy between satin sheets as he watches both programs whilst slathering himself in baby oil, fantasizing...
Eck.
It ought to be Norah O'Donnell and Kiran Chetry...

LIBERAL COMPASSION or HATE SPEECH you decide.
I was just over at Never Revelent nor True! And my post has to be approved by some Olby fanatic? Oh yeah like I'll see it up there later. Who's runs things over there Jim Jones kid sister?. Hey I just wanted to say that I was real impressed how Olby beat the seven week old factor rerun for fifteen minutes.(yeah sure) But did anybody notice how low Olby's numbers were for the first fifteen minutes. Even his kool-aid drinking spuds can't handle his over the edge POLITICO PSYCHO BABBLE!
And really Olby Loons the reason for the strong showing for the last 15 minutes is just you guys having a giant Krazy Keith Kozmic circle jerk, (with Brian at TVN the pivot man) hoping he makes Bill worst person that night.
Again, thanks to J.D. and R.C. for keeping a true free speech site!
We should Nuke Islam and Liberals hate America and babies!
Weee! I'm scooter. Weeee!
Hey look at me everybody, I'm a trolling bitch!
I love the smell of Keith Olbermann in the morning, he smells, smells like, well like my ASS!
Great picking apart of TVNewser's endless spin. People really are laughing at that website these days, it's hilarious how the kid claims to not have any bias. Reminds me of good old Keith Olbermann himself. Oh, if anyone is interested in joining the Keith Olbermann fan club, contact Brian Stelter.
Remember, TVN posted the forthisreliefmuchthanks.blogspot.com nightmare on his site for about 20 minutes before pulling it down. Guess he didn't follow protocol and give MSNBC's P.R. office a chance to check it over first.
The kid at TVNewser is patting himself on the back for an article in USA Today. Guess it's just a coincidence that the only news executive quoted is from MSNBC, and the only nightly news anchor quoted is from NBC. Think it's because he gift-wraps ratings spin for them every single day? Naaaaah.
MY FAVORITE PART IS HOW HE DISPUTES THE NUMBERS USA TODAY GIVES ABOUT THE NUMBER OF HITS ON HIS SITE, JUST LIKE HE TRIES TO SPIN OLBERMANN'S RATINGS BY LISTING SOME SELECT 'DEMO' FIRST. WHAT A JOKE THIS KID IS! SURE, HE'LL GET A JOB AT MSNBC IF IT'S STILL IN EXISTENCE, BUT WHO WOULD WANT THAT JOB?!?
The fact that his site got 260,000 hits last month (sorry kid, USA Today's numbers are a bit more reliable than yours!) brings some troubling facts about TV news to light. Why on earth would TV professionals want to get their news about the industry from someone who's never worked a single day in it?
I'm struck by the timing of this article, as well as the use of BW and especially DA quotes.
Recently, TVN's rating manipulation has been the subject of scrutiny by OW and other sites. Isn't it odd that now there is an article, pumped up by Williams and Abrams, that says what a great guy and what a great blog. Trying to build some support for the "success" of Countdown, are we?
CD w/KO beats BOR in key demo!
(for, er, 15 minutes, BOR was a re-run, only by 4,000 viewers)
WHOOO-HOOO!!!
Great work kid, you'll go far in this business!
I usually steer cleer of commenting, but I should correct Ben's comment from this evening. The numbers in the article were provided to USA Today by mediabistro, but the writer confused unique visitors and page views. The site recorded 260,000 uniques and 800,000 page views in June.
It's not a matter of whose numbers are more "reliable," as you put it; there's only one set of numbers, and those are the ones recorded by mediabistro's servers.
Thanks for reading.
Right, just like there are one set of ratings for TV News that every newspaper and industry site reports, yet you choose to only publish the 25-54 demographic numbers on your front page because it makes MSNBC look more competitive with CNN and FOX News.
To be clear, MSNBC still loses, but it's just not as lopsided. And after TVNewser starts pumping up the numbers it wants him too, Dan Abrams and Brian Williams praise him in an article. Does anyone see a pattern here?
LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT. OLBERMANN FINISHES DEAD LAST IN RATINGS LAST FRIDAY NIGHT (INCLUDING IN THE SUDDENLY IMPORTANT "DEMO") AND TVNEWSER SAYS NOTHING? ANYONE REMEMBER THIS?

And of course it's completely beyond the realm of possibility that his numbers are mostly correct most of the time and you're just a petty, partisan a--hole. Naaaaaaah.
"you're just a petty, partisan a--hole."
As opposed to the fair, let's-hear-both-of-the-story, Olbermann? Idiot.
