Like others, I took note of what appeared to be an accusation that Fox News had hacked Keith Olbermann's email in Beth Harris's article on KO's comments in Pasadena yesterday about his email being hacked and somehow that being tied to Fox News. I was hesistant to post on this line until I had a chance to check into further. I emailed Harris and checked around with my sources. I have yet to hear back from the AP but a source provided this transcript of Olby's comments:
I'm always the guy who doesn't keep his head down and bangs into walls and overheads and such. I never worry about the consequences of it. ... There have been some abuses. There have been -- my e-mails have been hacked into. My phone number has been distributed at Fox. I mean, there have been some really kind of invasive things, but if you sit down and you talk about it, well, they're annoying things, and that's about it.
It's pretty clear KO was NOT saying that someone from Fox News hacked into his e-mail account. I'm still not clear what it means that his phone number was distributed at Fox and I'd be fascinated to know how Olby would know this or whether he can back it up.
As to the hacked email account - is this yet another trail balloon floated in some vain hope of distancing himself from OlbyEmailGate? Is Keith now saying he did not write the "vituperative" emails for which he later apologized? Was the Cosby/suitecase full of rocks crack a set up from a maleavolent hacker? Or is this all just one more stop on the KO Oblivion Express?
Ed. Note: I changed the time stamp on this post so that the Olbermann Nazi Salute story would be at the top of the page as we begin a new week - that is THE story for now and I liked how that Olby Salute photo looked at the top of the page.
Keith may think he can get away with e-mail abuse by claiming his account was hacked. He might want to talk to all the people who have been fired from their jobs for e-mail indescretion and see how well that defense works before trying it, however.
Keith better wake up and realize he is dealing with computers now, not gullible leftist maniacs. Computers don't believe in conspiracy theories. They prefer binary.
Poor, poor Keith. He has made his own rope, tied his own slip-knot, placed his head in the loop, jumped up on a stool, thrown the free end of the rope over a roof-beam, all the while daring everyone whom he has attacked (all million of them) to push him.
Keith should have lived 2,400 years ago -- Sophocles would have written a killer play about him.
Olber uses a bit of semantic engineering (a Nazi tactic according to Victor Frankle in Man's Search for meaning) to say "email hacking" and Fox News in the same breath.
The AP reported should have questioned him about that. Was that an attempt to tie the two or was it a real attempt to list "abuses"?
Given Obly's track record, it looks like a slick way to tie the two and then have the ability to parse it later and disconnecting the two. (A Clinton fav.)
Either way, he should have to prove both allegations before they are reported. If there was hacking going on at MSNBC, there should be an FCC investigation? FBI? What? Internal? Whatever, there would be a paper trail for that investigation.
If a TV anchor's email is hacked into that is a crime and a story.
If Olby's phone number was dustributed at Fox . . . he should have to explain that. His work number? His home phone? His cell phone? If so, which one, all?
If so, what did those who received the distributions of his number do? Did they disimminate them? Did they send them to Robert Cox so he could post them and cause trouble for Keith?
Are those things "invasive" are they illegal? Why the word games.
I think the only thing invasive is his you know what into a groupie who felt abused.
This looks like a cover-up

UPDATE: OlbyWatch Radio - I will be live on the Pat Campbell radio show at 8:05 to 8:20AM ET to discuss KO, his Nazi salute and all things Olby. Pat's blog is here. There is a live stream here(you have to register but it's free).
So how does Olbermann explain this one away. The Rita emails were from September of 2005. The ones that were posted from here were more recent and over a period of time right? So is he going to claim that a hacker had access to his account for MONTHS on end?
And why do you apologize for something you didn't do? Wouldn't they have floated the "hacker" line earlier in the game and NOT had him apologize?
Why aren't the police investigating this criminal invasion of his PC?
I'd say this was going over like a lead balloon.

Forgot to add this: So is the "Someone hacked into my email" excuse like "the dog ate my homework?" in Olbyspeak?
You've let your ridiculous hatred of Olbermann get to you. He said his e-mail was hacked into, not that the infamous e-mails weren't from him.
I am asking a question - why IS he telling reporters that his email account was hacked AT ALL. He has not spoken to the press since the whole OlbyEmailGate broke. It seems reasonable to wonder what his intent was in floating this claim.
Another conspiracy maybe? Why is he telling people his phone number was distributed AT ALL? Maybe because he wants to.
KO is a liar, he routinely lies about all kinds of things...this would be just one more occasion.
The man is a neurotic lunatic. If someone had REALLY hacked his email he would have reported it immediately and then probably emailed ten fans to tell them about it.
I've been a KO fan for a long time, even had my own go-rounds with people here at OW (Cox included). My personal opinion, for what it's worth, is the the great KO is headed for a nervous break-down of some kind. He's out there, way out there. You can count me as one less fan of Olbermann.

The reason we ask questions about his emails being hacked into is that KO brought it up. It was brought up in the same breath of evil-doers at Fox news distributing his phone number (he claims). It is important because KO sent some pretty awful emails and may have used his email to seduce a viewer.
Since KO has set the standard for persecution of a rival host (BO anbd the LOOO-FRA) then it seems fair to know WTF this guy is talking about.
It also is relevant because many of of beleive the MSM ignores bad behavior by those whith whom it agrees politcally and attacks those with whom it (in general) disagrees.
The Rathergate story was brought about by the blogosphere. Without Little Green Footballs and others, the phoney documents would not have been challenged. Without the blogosphere the American public would have been deceived as to the authenticity of those documents. One can argue the affect of the story, etc, but without doubt and challenge, CBS did a poor job with Burkett and Barnes and the rest of the Texas democrat mafia.
In the 1990s there were those after Clinton. None of it stuck until . . . well, it stuck to the blue dress.
The issue is a double standard. O'Reilly gets attacked on a regualer basis because of his likely indescressions. KO does many of those attacks.
Then, when KO does something with a fan, and goes ballistic in his emails to dissenters, the MSM, for the most part ignores it.
It takes (again) the blogsphere to expose it.
Look, if Olby does a segment for the worst person in the world, then fine. If he excludes himself for doing a Nazi salute and for sending vile emails, how does he have any credibility to call BO, or Ann Coulter the worst person in the world?
Answer: He does not have any moral authority. His own words and actions are simply exposing that hypocracy.

My guess is that the AP reporterette has not answered your emails, right Robert?
That would be correct Big Man.
I can email her boss about it but I don't know that I care that much. I got the story here.
I can tell you that there were lots of folks who took that story to mean that KO was saying his email was hacked BY FOX.
Quit pretending like you've uncovered and exposed one of the biggest scandals in television history.
She is still on the story . . . she has the byline on the Roger Ailes response.
And to Nonfacor: Why do lefties always order others around? Can I tell you to "Quit being a dick?" No, you'd be offended. I won't do it because I cannot stop you from being a dick, so telling you to 'quit it' would be useless.
Can I tell you to "Quit being a dick?" No, you'd be offended.
Offended by the lack of thought put into an insult? Yes. The difference between what I said and what you said is that I'm not name-calling. The ability you have to set up a straw man argument is astounding.
Non
Not only am I not "pretending" like I have "uncovered and exposed one of the biggest scandals in television history", I am saying nothing remotely like that.
If you will go re-read my post, I am knocking down a claim made by some bloggers and blog-readers - including some commenters on this site - that Keith said his email was hacked BY FOX. The AP story by Beth Harris does not actually say that but the language, in my opinion, is not precise and could be interpreted to mean that KO said that Fox hacked his email.
What I did was contact someone who was present at the KO Presser, asked them for their account plus a copy of the official transcript. I then posted the transcript and explained that as "fun" as it might be to believe that KO was claiming that Fox News had hacked his email account, the confusion was in the AP report and not in what Keith actually said.
In other words, I have done the OPPOSITE of what you are now accusing me of doing.
In light of the recent kerfluffle over Keith and his emails, his apology, and his statement that he would no longer respond to fan emails, it seems relevant to this site to square his claim that his email was hacked with recent events. If I had been there I would have asked a follow up question as to when this alleged hacking had occurred, how he knew it had occurred, how long his email was compromised and was he putting forward this claim as an explanation of the recent email incidents.

Mr. Cox,
I'm also very interested to find out the truth regarding his hacked email. As someone who exchanged very personal emails with him, it disturbs me that they can be in the hands of strangers.
But to be honest, I don't believe his email was hacked into. Why would they go after a low-rated cable news anchor, when they could've easily hacked into Tim Russert's account?
It's possibly just a way for him to clean his hands of any future embarrassing emails that may pop up.
I hope you're able to get to the bottom of this.
So in other words, Mr. Cox, this is just a "fun" conspiracy that you'll try to harp on for who knows how long.

Look,
non-factor, I was simply trying to show that in your imperative sentence, you had the implication that this is a "non-factor". By doing so you did, in fact, imply an insult. It was an insult to Mr. Cox.
True, you did not "name-call". However, you did the same thing without name-calling. The intent was the same, the tactic different.
Words is fun? Language is keen, huh?

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ( OCD ) is a disorder whose symptoms are obsessions (persistent and irrational thoughts) and compulsions ( uncontrollable and repetitive acts ), which seem to be defenses against anxieties. Symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder are categorized primarily as obsessions or compulsions. According to DSM-IV, obsessions are reoccurring persistent thoughts or images that a person finds to be disturbing as well as intrusive and inappropriate. These thoughts or images are exaggerated fears and anxieties that have no basis in reality.
Big Man - I think you are new to this site so you don't know that Nonfactor is a troll. A friendly, harmless troll but a troll nonetheless so the kind of dialog you are attempting is not likely to bear fruit.
Now just to show that I do not follow my own advice...

I do believe Wikipedia is a liberally biased website and have engaged Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales on this topic privately via e-mail, face to face in a conference and publicly in a debate on the PBS.org site. Are you bringing this up because it has some relevance to Olbermann? Or that YOU don't think it has a liberal bias. I should note that Jimmy wrote me the other day that he feels the Gun Politics entry is biased right which may be the case because I don't know much about that subject.
I do not think TVNewser is "evil" but I have my own experience with Brian and know him for the hack that he is.
I don't recall ever saying or thinking that KO is a terrorist but I sure wouldn't want to be stuck in an elevator with him.
As for KO "blaming Fox News" for hacking his emails, I have already pointed out to you that I was the person who specifically shot this idea down by getting the transcript of the event, posting it and stating unequivocally that Keith did not say that.
So let's add that up...you are right, wrong, wrong, wrong.
Wow! You are getting better :-)
"Big Man - I think you are new to this site so you don't know that Nonfactor is a troll. A friendly, harmless troll but a troll nonetheless ..."
yeah, right. Non's been handing your head to you OlbyWatchers for a while now. Amazingly, he's also pretty good at keeping a level head, all the while revealing your empty-headed comments for what they are, time and again.

"so the kind of dialog you are attempting is not likely to bear fruit"
i do agree on that point, though. the residents here at OW are too stupid to comprehend/fomulate/bear fruitful discussion.
Here's more good Opie Press from the NY Daily News. Chief Opie on roll, everyone stupid, him smart. Chief Opie not have many moons left on TV, Chief Opie burn many bridge
Bag it, Keith .... Bob Raissman
Keith Olbermann believes he has discovered a major source of A-Rod's problems. And that would be "the New York newspapers." On ESPN-1050 yesterday, Olbermann not only called the tabloids out, but took the local print media to task for the way it has covered the Yankees this season.
He said "the New York newspapers" had not "stooped" to "an all-time low," but were close to it.
Olbermann's analysis is credible. For when it comes to stooping to an all-time low he is quite the authority.
After all it was Olbermann who, on the June 20 edition of "The Dan Patrick Show," called Carolina Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos Jr. a "douchebag

How would you diagnose Keith Olbermann's obsessive, compusive bahviors?
1) fixating on O'Reilly, perhaps to his own career peril
2) using corporate assets (Ailes' term) for personal vendettas and using same said assets to gratify his sexualy appetites
3) Using Ann Coulter's sexual organs and the IQ of such to insult critical emailers
4) Physically destroying an Ann Coulter action figure on air
5) constant lies about ratings, i.e. changing the rules to make his ratings look better than what decades of industry standards have set out as success
6) getting fired from every job because of a rufusal to "change his style"
7)having a segment for "Worst Person in the World" that excludes two forms of people (a) Keith Olbermann and (b) terrorists
So, in your OCD definition, take the time to look up meglamania. Look up 'projection'.
Keith is an ill man and I mean in a clinical sense.
"How would you diagnose Keith Olbermann's obsessive, compusive bahviors?"
Bob: I think Barry Bonds is obsessive compulsive.
Ray: Mark McGuire is obsessive compulsive too!

Olbermann: I can lie anytime I want and I will have like-minded people to defend me.
Cox: This Olbermann guy is a kook and a liar. I will prove it because it is easy and I enjoy it and it serves people who don't have time to parse all of Olby's lies
Anonymous: A pox on both your houses!!! Both things are moral equivelants (one being cable news anchor, the other a common citizen).
Anonymous: (Inner monolog) I showed those tiny minds a thing or two!! Crap, what will I say when they ask me why I participate in educating these damn tiny minds. Anyway, their minds are sooooo tiny they will never notice.
Talk about tiny mind.

Homerun . . . I, too emailed Beth Harris for a clarificaiton but never heard back. I also posited a theory that KO was using a trick, a word game to connect the alleged email hacking to Fox news by using those things is a laundry list of "invations" so that the reader (hearer) would conncect the two.
For AP to run a correction is a big, big deal. They usually don't.
Now, for the real answers to these questions
Who hacked into his email (if anyone)
Why did he bring it up (trial baloon?)
Was his phone number distributed at Fox?
Does he have proof?
Was it his work number? home? cell? the secret cell that only his "poontang" uses?
If his number was distributed, how was it done?
Email? Fax to everyone? Word of mouth? If anyone received it, what did they do with it? Why is it relevant? Has he received prank (or is it crank?) calls?
Do Fox news employees call him up and mock him?
If these things are simply annoying and not invasive, why bring it up?
Does he want a pity party?
I want to know if these things happend, if they happened on a small scale (like his weenie-according to the groupie he nailed) is he exagerating? (again, ask the groupie) If so, why?
Does he have his Viagra prescription leaked to the press? Are these things THAT invasive? Rush, for his privacy had a doctor give him erection pills in the doctor's name, that was leaked to the media before it was even investigated.
So, does KO just not know what to say or how to act in public? A Nazi salute followed by remarks he cannot (so far) support with facts or evidence.
Well, the AP correction is a good step. I am amazed. But, I bet the reporterette has not returned your emails. Mine either.
