"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Guest Host: Alison Stewart
Topics/Guests:
"Another Day Off"
It's a downer for every dingbat.
Olby once more from Countdown does scat.
He likes teenage sexpots
more than finding Rove plots.
Keith just had to see Emmy with Kat.
Well this wouldn't be a good night for KO,1st he might have to talk about the released Fox newsmen then about the fact that Plame's name was revealed by Richard Armitage not by Rove as part of a plan by Bush and Company to get back at Wilson.
However he is missing out on the first night of the MSM Bush bash over Katrina,You know where not only did Bush cause the hurricane because he didn't sign the Kyoto treaty but also had the Levees blown up to kill all the poor and black people there.
KO's going to have to make up for lost time when he gets back.he might even stop going after O'Reilly to do it...Nah he'll find time to bash Bill too.
Love on the rocks
Ain't no big surprise
Just pour me a drink
and I'll tell ya some lies...
Olby has more days off than a pregnant school teacher! Come on Keith.....get back to work. We all miss your bright orange glow each night.
I see Bills off tonight too so this is the battle of the Guest Host..I wonder what happens if Stewart's ratings are higher than KO's againts O'Reilly's replacement?
Breaking News:
NBC sources report that Countdown host Keith Olbermann has admitted that he, and not John Mark Karr, actually murdered Johnbenet Ramsey. Boulder, Colorado, police sources report that Olbermann was taken into custody after e-mails from the MSNBC personality implicated him in "loving" little children like Johnbenet, and that the police say that evidence found during a search of Olbermann's home showed that he was in Boulder on Christmas Day, 1996.
OMIGOD!!!!
So KO's been in LA for like 3 weeks now, and apparently doesn't do Friday or Monday shows anymore.
How exactly is this supposed to be the cornerstone of the network, and build "traction."
Ratings are down and losing grounds to the 3 other news networks (and occassionally CNBC).
Obviously when Danny Boy said that the network would build around CD he meant that all their shows would now focus on celebrity gossip and attacking the other cable news networks. Not literally CD which appears to be more of a hobby for Mr. Olbermann, now that his "stellar" ratings are in the tank.
Get a life you bunch of redneck losers.
I think CBS News didn't bother to cover Steve and Olaf's release yesterday, either. Maybe Keith can get a job over there.
I think I'm gonna go to church and pray for all of the liberals who don't have Jesus' love.
America is a CHRISTIAN COUNTRY DAMN IT!!!
All of you non-christian weirdos are going rot in an eternal hell when your time comes. You are so stupid you don't even see it.
Jesus and the bible teach love and acceptance, but not of liberal views. I'm pretty sure if Jesus was alive today he would take a shotgun to your liberal, nigger-lovin, welfare-collecting asses.
I know Olbermann wasn't on tonight or Friday but is it still safe to assume that no reporting was done on the Fox news employees and Ray Nagin's latest quote?
The NYT on forced conversion:
"JERUSALEM, Aug. 27 — Two journalists kidnapped in Gaza were released unharmed on Sunday after being forced at gunpoint to say on a videotape that they had converted to Islam (emphasis added).
Dean Barnett response:
Interesting locution there, “released unharmed,” no? This comes from the newspaper that believes that a Christmas crèche or a prayer uttered before a high school football game is a violation of the highest order. And yet being forced to adopt another faith at the point of a gun doesn’t rise to the level of “harm” in the Times’ judgment.
Omri Ceren response:
You idiot! You total blistering idiot! Being forced to convert is a harm. It might be the oldest harm short of death - being forced to renounce your faith and your god. Millions of people - literally millions - have died rather than deign to utter words that would force them to give up their faith. No wonder liberal journalists are utterly baffled by fully half of the United States - they don't think having to give up your religion is harmful. We are beyond certain that if Muslim prisoners at Gitmo were forced to convert away from Islam as a condition of their release, the New York Times would not be putting the phrase "released unharmed" into their lede.
Did countdown cover Steve Centanni release? KO is probably lending his "credibilty" to some Hollywood movie nobody will want to see.
I scanned thru tonight's Countdown and didn't see anything about the released newsmen. Countdown viewers would probably have been perplexed about their release, since Olby never reported that they were taken in the first place.
Obviously when Danny Boy said that the network would build around CD he meant that all their shows would now focus on celebrity gossip and attacking the other cable news networks. Not literally CD which appears to be more of a hobby for Mr. Olbermann, now that his "stellar" ratings are in the tank.
****************************************************
I think "build around CD" means the same as " rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic".
I had heard several months ago that Microsoft was or has gotten out of their venture w/ NBC and the NBC is supposed to change the name from MSNBC to NBCNews Channel or NBC Cable News something like that. Has anyone heard that and does anyone know when this name change might happen? Thanks.
Agent Orange is on a secret assignment to dig up dirt on BOR.
Or checking his kiddie porn sites.
Hey Rcox or Jdollar i think y'all should delete the drive by post by the Liberal using the name "anonymous" and posting a caricature of what liberal think conservatives are.
When libs have no arguments, they go into childish parody mode
too true david. then they use their own slander to malign the websites they hate.
Why should anything be deleted? I think it's good that everyone be exposed for who and what they are. The ONE thing I agree with liberals on is that censorship is for cowards.
As an aside, I'm not surprised that today's "conservatives" (who mostly favor bigger government, more intrusion, more welfare) would be as cowardly on the issue of censorship as they are on the REAL issues that are sending this country into the toilet. You "conservatives" will note that your "conservative" president just reduced a bunch of spending for 2006...how? By deciding today to delay payments of government bills for a few weeks so it shows up on the next fiscal year. What a joke.
GW Bush is the best friend the illegal Mestizo ever had, why? Because he wants even dumber, cheaper labor than is already available.
A conservative that votes republican is a hypocrite.
I read a book by Nietzsche
who summed up old keith just so peachy
"the christian god's dead,
so put a towel on your head,
gnash your teeth for Bill-O, and act preachy."
I read a book by Kitty Kelly,
who channeled the negro child in her belly,
"Bill Clinton is god!"
But isn't it odd?
For the stain on that dress wasn't jelly.

Dude,
There are practical realities here. When somoeone runs around a website writing stuff with the n-word plastered everywhere, it is bad for business. People don't want to be associated with a site that allows that crap, and lefties can use the quotes to defame a site, possibly even getting it banned from Google and the like.
You are correct about spending, but that is a universal problem in Government. People who spend alot tend to make friends and get elected. Libertarian ideals are great, but I don't see many libertarians in office. You run on your platform and see how far you get. And of course vote your conscience, and enjoy the Democrat administration that you end up with. I'm sure democrats will spend less than W!
Well he has outspent all of them elected in the last 80 years.
I don't understand, Orion. Conservatives are for more welfare? That one needs explanation.
I'm offended at the johnny dollar's usage of the word "scat" in this thread.
"Olby once more from Countdown does scat."
I post over at newsmutts as user Scat sometimes and Olbermann did NOT "do" me.
Why the personal attack johnny?
;)
Orion: "Well he has outspent all of them elected in the last 80 years."
Address the Congress pal. You are angry at the electorate for voting for congressmen who spend, and that is fine. Why not start a grass-roots campaign to educate the masses instead of blaming a website and its patrons? Bush could get his ass handed to him by vetoing more, but he has enough on his plate with the retards in Congress as it is.
Just as I predicted, Olbermann was not the highest rated show on MSNBC in August in the 25-54 key demo, that honor went to the 11pm Hour of "MSNBC Investigates". Olbermann had 167, MSNBC Investigates had 179. Olbermann was also clobbered in the key demo by Paula Zahn who had 256 to Olbermann's 167 and O'Reilly's 536. And by the way, he TIED for 2nd place in the 25-54 ratings with the 10pm-12am "MSNBC Investigates" so he can't even rightfully claim a clear 2nd place win in the demos at MSNBC for the month of August.
In the overall ratings, however, it does appear he still had the most watched show on the network, although he's only pulling in 431 overall compared to Zahn's 784 and O'Reilly's 2100.
"I don't understand, Orion. Conservatives are for more welfare? That one needs explanation."
No, CONSERVATIVES are not for more welfare. I think you are missing the distinction I am trying to make, probably because you have been brainwashed by what passes for political debate in this country. REPUBLICONS are for more welfare. How? They support expanding the welfare class by admitting more poor minorities to the country and growing the ones we have. We shall know them by their deeds. They can fake conservatism all they want. Last 6 years, all 3 houses controlled by Republicans, greatest growth in spending in history, largest influx of illegals in history, largest growth in minorities in history. You can blame it on the Republicon president and his 0 vetoes, the Republicon Senate, the Repubicon house, whatever you want. We shall know them by their deeds. A hundred billion dollars now to put New Orleans, (our chocolate city) back the way it was.
I'm not nearly as scared of a term or two of democraps as I am of there truly being NO conservative party anymore if this is allowed to continue. Straight out, THE DEMOCRAPS WERE MORE CONSERVATIVE THAN THIS GARBAGE.
"I'm sure democrats will spend less than W!"
Yeah, ha ha....except THEY DID SPEND LESS. WAY LESS. WAY WAY WAY LESS. Is this the "practical realities" you are talking about voting? If even 10% of people voted their conscience this Republicon party would wake up. Some people won't join something until it is already a fact, because they are natural followers. It's ok, you can join my party later.
Orion,
My friend, if libertarians would stop with the legalizing drugs and prostitution schtick, and get a little stronger on defense, they could conceivably win. Much like the greens, though, they can't pull away from the fringe.
"My friend, if libertarians would stop with the legalizing drugs and prostitution schtick, and get a little stronger on defense,"
Yes, and it would be even easier if they dropped the fiscal responsibility and anti-immigration "schtick." You know, like the Republicons did. As for getting stronger on defense, if you call spending all our lives, treasure, and energy trying to please Israel and ending up fumbling away every ball to Iran...well, let's just say we were alot stronger on defense when we were "weaker" on defense. Better learn Spanish and Ebonics, my friend, because if you keep voting Republicon they are going to be the national languages.

Is that why 39 republicans and 0 democrats voted for English to be the national language?
http://itre.cis.upenn.edu/~myl/languagelog/archives/003164.html
Man, Olby must have put in overtime in LA with the chicky....even though the newsletter said he'd be back today, today's letter says that he's off again.
Is that why 39 republicans and 0 democrats voted for English to be the national language?
And once again we have someone engaging in selective ommission...
The text of the article states that sixty-three Senators voted for the provision (52 Republicans and 11 Democrats), which was attached to an immigration reform bill.
The 39 Republicans you speak of rejected a second amendment to the same immigration reform bill that added the phrase "English is the common and unifying language of the United States, and to preserve and enhance the role of the English language."
Abrams: we demand Opie, we demand Opie, we demand Opie.
Annihilated by O'Reilly, hammered by Zahn, losing to years' old jail house rock docus, wining only the race with Ms. Grace for last place.
Get him back to NYC - there's so much more damage he can do. 10th job in 20 years. His most successful career move was being unemployed.
Bring back the orange cornerstone of MSNBC. He's running in contention for being America's # 1 unnatural disaster. Don't I repeat, don't lose him to the cartoon network doing voice overs. Tom Cruise, Karl Rove, Mister Bush - after three days I already feel I'm out of touch with America.

You apparently did not understand the context of the article. It described how "common and unifying" was the democrats' weaker response to the republicans' "national" wording in the bills. It continues to say that the democrats are SOFTER on the language debate, as in "softened to placate moderates".
FTFA:
"Immediately after the vote on Inhofe's amendment came another vote, this time for a less binding amendment to the immigration bill sponsored by Sen. Ken Salazar (D-CO). The purpose of Salazar's amendment was "to declare that English is the common and unifying language of the United States, and to preserve and enhance the role of the English language."
It's all irrelevant anyway. No matter how many times Conservative Republicans try to ram it through, there will never be a vote on making English the "official" language of the United States.
Graceful retreat, don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.
Making a national language in name means nothing. That is exactly the kind of thing Republicons do. Great, english is the national language, and 90% of the population is hispanic and black because they continually vote for policies that increase these populations.
They talk on and on about gay marriage everytime an election is coming. Do they DO anything? No. If they did, would it matter? No, every one of there proposals is just talk. Meanwhile look at the makeup of the country, look at the spending, look at the welfare.
We shall know them by their deeds.
Making a English the national language does not "mean nothing".
It means that legal immigrants would have to demonstrate an understanding of the English language, which is not the case presently.
from http://www.govtrack.us/congress/amendment.xpd?session=109&amdt=s4064 -
"(c) GOALS FOR CITIZENSHIP TEST REDESIGN.--The Department of Homeland Security shall establish as goals of the testing process designed to comply with provisions of [8 U.S.C. 1423 (a)] that prospective citizens:
1. demonstrate a sufficient understanding of the English language for usage in everyday life;
2. demonstrate an understanding of American common values and traditions, including the principles of the Constitution of the United States, the Pledge of Allegiance, respect for the flag of the United States, the National Anthem, and voting in public elections;
3. demonstrate an understanding of the history of the United States, including the key events, key persons, key ideas, and key documents that shaped the institutions and democratic heritage of the United States;
4. demonstrate an attachment to the principles of the Constitution of the United States and the well being and happiness of the people of the United States; and
5. Demonstrate an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship in the United States."
Above post is by me.
i actually like allison stewart. if abrams was smart, he'd can olby and put allison in a primetime slot instead of midday oblivion. Give her a real news show too, The Most is no good. Then again, msnbc doesn't do real news shows anymore (Hardball being the exception). How the hell can Joe Scarborough allow himself to talk about celebrity crap for forty five minutes every night. He is the only recent politician on the goddamn network. That's the fast track to getting replaced by msnbc docudramas. Tucker has always sucked but at least the PTI format The Situation had (along with Rachel Maddow) made it interesting
