How will the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann cover today's big news? Based on his track record, and theories all over the blue blogs (some of Olby's favorite "news" sources), possibilities include:
And who will be Olby's experts? John Dean? O'Donnell? Al Franken? Michael Musto? Use up our valuable bandwidth with your comments, predictions, and limericks!
It's amazing, I thought of the same thing as your last bullet point. The day after the "Defeatocrats" line up behind their nominee in CT, the terrorists are out and about! It's a conspiracy!
Predict tonights Opie quotes:
Opie:
* Do you think this, um, maybe, could I say overblown to help Mister Bush's ratings, these things seem top pop up at the most opportune times
* Do you think this maybe would not have happened, I mean, could have been avodied, ike, lets say, like um Katrina, had Mister Bush not been in Crawford on vacation
* Do you think maybe, um, Anne Coulter is somehow, maybe indirectly resposponsible, for this so called terror even
* Yes there was a so called terror event in the UK - but the number one story on Meltdown tonight is Suri Cruise, apparently this child does exist and Vanity Fair may have the pictures. to that we turn to...
Dean, Fineman, Milbanks, Liar Crazy Liar O'Donnell, Musto -
"well, I think you have a good point there Keif
Johnny, I think it may be a while before we see John Dean on Countdown again. It may have occurred to Dean that he could be seen by five times as many people if he was on O'Reilly's show. Keith may never forgive him for that.
As for which theory Keith will use to discredit today's news, I think he'll opt for his "it wasn't much of a threat" routine. He'll mock the terrorists by trying to claim that they're just a bunch of amateurs. It seems that your other theories may be too much of a stretch, even for Krazy Keith. But then again...
Keith got a thought in his head
When he saw the threat level was red
I'll never grow weary
Of conspiracy theory
So soon after Joe lost to Ted
Well, he'll do the usual contradictory approach where he has to turn logic on its head in order to attack the White House.
So, as noted above, he'll try to frame the questioning around the "amateur hour" issue and attempt to portray these individuals as incompetent types who got in over their heads.
But given his track record, he'll then definitely take the "Didn't Blair invite this by aligning himself with Bush?" approach?
E.g., "How much of this growing unrest among young British Muslims has to do with Blair being Bush's poodle or lapdog?"
So, on the one hand the threat has been exagerrated and in the next instance the danger has been multiplied by the Bush Administration's policies.
The he'll get in a couple of cheap shots against Rove claiming that this will be used by Lord Karl in his "McCarthyite attacks" against critics.
Gotta' have a McCarthy reference.
Same old, same old.

You guys um idiots are missing some news stories about your hero KEITH OLBERMANN. The ADL didn't give 2 craps about the"Nazi salute" until you gentlemen, um leftist pigs filled their email box with crap.
CC:
Wonder how TVN is handling that news.
I believe the Wolffeman, Craig Crawford, David Brock and Kos will also be part of his "balanced" panel tonight. I throw my choice behind the "timing" meme.
Also, I'm sure Olby will tie in a Mel Gibson reference.
Olberdone will say:
Bush/Blair, IRAQ and Israel are creating all this anger in the Muslim world.
His guest will be any combo of Ray McGovern, Joe Wilson, Michael Scheuer, Pat Buchenwald, Thomas Ricks, Ward Churchill.
KO tonight:
Keith: "To be sure, at least to some, this comes as a welcome, some would say serendipitous, even convenient, surprise to Mr. Bush. Should we be surprised anymore that such events occur on the heels of the upset, some would say, groundbreaking victory, for democrats in Connecticut and how that portends for the runup to the elections this coming fall? To answer that question, we turn to Howard Fineman. Good evening."
Fineman: "Good evening, Keith."
KO: "Well it would seem that, given the recent polls regarding the war in Iraq, the landslide win by Ned Lamont over the perceived political lapdog of Mr. Bush, that being Mr. Liebermann, and the general impending sense of doom for this administration, that things like this seem to happen, if not purposefully, at least conveniently for the right wing neocons, some would say 'nuts' in this country, given that they've been pounding the "the sky is falling" meme for some time now. Should we, as a nation, indeed, as individuals, read anything more into this than what meets the eye, or is something more intrepid, possibly even diabolical afoot, or, as Shakespeare once famously wrote, "Is something rotten in the state of Denmark."
Howard: You bring up some salient points, Keith.
KO: As always, much thanks for your time.
Hey Matticus:
You are right on except Blubbermann would say, "great thanks". I only say this because it annoys the living shit out of me.
KO will turn this into Bush is distracted in Iraq - he should be more focused on the "real" terrorist threats.
Also, isn't Bush on vaction? shouldn't he have flown to the white house, etc.
Keith: Isn't it true that the mess in Iraq.... and the disproportionate response by Israel..... killing all those civilian...
(KO will say NOTHING about the hundreds of Hezbo missiles launched toward civilians each day)
...What is taking Israel so long...They are losooooosing the war.
...Condi and Bush are at odds...warmongering.... diversion from the real problem in Iraq
KO will turn this into Bush is distracted in Iraq - he should be more focused on the "real" terrorist threats.
Bush IS distracted - three years and nearly $300 billion later and the situation there is worse than it was when we rolled in.
And why should the Preisdent be crowing anyway? The U.S. wasn't involved in the investigation. It was the British (who have been hyper-vigilant since the bad old days with the IRA) and the Pakistanis (who mainly provided background) who foiled the plot. All the reports that have surfaced do not indicate any U.S agency had a hand in this. So the president talking about "making us more safe" is empty words because we could have been at pre-9/11 levels and the attack would have been foiled anyway.
Wrong answer Anon!
Bush Bush Bush...ACLU is mounting a case to spring the bad guys!!!
Anon-
non sequitur
We should start Olby drinking games for nights such as this. My initial contribution of moments or statements worthy of a shot:
-Olby questions the timing
-One of Olby’s “balanced” panel questions the timing
-Olby asks if the plot was real
-Olby blames Iraq/Lebanon/Afghanistan for this
-Olby asks if this is a wag the dog scenario
-Olby mentions the CT race in context of this story
How about downing a shot every time the Laughing Stagehand forces a pre-planned guffaw at one of Orange Boy's lame attempts at humor?
Olby says “Hornets Nest”
Lefty Liberals Shuster or Milbank appear
Olby ponders What is taking Israel soooo long.
Wow. Non sequitur from me;
Breaking news: Hugo Chavez says Castro in 'great battle for life'....
Maybe #1 for KO?
Based on the slant CNN is already promoting, I will predict Olby will tout that there is no evidence this is linked to Al Qaeda.
I feel obliged to repost this without the misspelled words.
Keith got a thought in his head
When he saw the threat level turned red
He'll never grow weary
Of conspiracy theory
So soon after Joe lost to Ned
My prediction for tonight: Krazy Keith the Sports Comedian will pose the theory that this major terror plot was planned to coincide with Bush's long " August vacation".
How about is our incompetent policy in the middle east creating a greater terrorist threat?
Yes, Olby might try that one as well. Good point!!
What Did Bush Know, When Did He Know It and Why Did He Withhold It?
Another good point. Bush was behind this UK terrorist plot!!

or how about, I thought we were fighting them there so we wouldn't have to fight them here?
I just thought of another one:
Why haven't we seen the photos of the areested guys? How do we know they aren't Rovebots carrying out orders to distract from Nedrenaline in CT?
Dang.
I meant "arrested".
Lieberman Loses Because Of Ties To Bush = TERROR ALERT!
Yeah, just in time to swallow the news cycle like Joe swallowed Shrub, "Yo" Blair snarls air traffic everywhere with a terra terra plot. Do you get the timing here? Israel is building Hezbollah into a mythic warrior, Iraq is a continuing disaster, Joementum connects the entire news cycle to Bush's failures, so we JUST GOTTA have a terra terra alert!
I know just how obsessed British intelligence has been with the Lieberman/Lamont race and how obvious it is they timed their announcement to coincide with his defeat in the Democratic primary.
the last time British "intelligence" thought they were thwarting a terrorist, they shot and killed an innocent Brazilian tourist.
just like the "terrorist" cell the FBI uncovered in FLA -- the entrapped amateurs who lived in a storage unit.
just like the poor slob who was shot and killed on the plane by Miami air marshalls -- he didn't have a bomb, and never claimed to.
"Yo" Blair is Bush's lapdog.
Everthing is going exactly according to plan.
the U.S. move into Iraq was coordinated with Britain.
Israel's move into Lebanon was coordinated with the U.S.
this "mother of them all" bombing story was coordinated with the last 100 days of the midterm elections.
Bush can't run on Afghanistan -- it's reverted to a narco state.
Bush can't run on Iraq -- it's a fucking mess.
Bush can't run on his approval ratings -- it's still stuck in the high thirties.
The only issue that polls well for republicans is their politics-of-fear WAR ON TERROR which they've sold to losers like you.
So with less than a 100 days left to go for the midterms, and quickly on the heals of a Liebermann loss, guess who gets dragged out into the news with a timely terror alert: Al Qaeda.
how convenient.
It's ratings time! Guess who's fourth overall yet again?

Great insight in your post at 5:48 there, Anon. But you forgot the most important thing:
Bush can't run on anything -- he's in the middle of his second term and has 2 years left, no matter what.
Just like the Dems ran against Reagan for 16 years, it looks like now they have moved on to W.
If Rove, or Mehlman, or whoever were trying to "drag out al-Qaeda" for the elections, wouldn't they have done it in this country, so the Repubs could claim victory?
The paranoia and logic of the left astounds.
Placing Bets-
Who would like to place bets on whether or not "Mister" Olbermann will where either an American or UK lapel pin on his suit tonite?
Sorry guys, i have the winner:
about 10 seconds into the broadcast he will go into:
1984, orwell, terrorist as Emmanuel Goldstein,
Bush set it up or Its Bush's Fault,
Its because of the war in Iraq,
Lets Fire Don Rummsfeld
Gee, Johnny, I think Olby hit every bullet point in your show summary before his intro to the show was complete.
Do you believe this guy keeps calling it "an alleged plot", and "we don't know if this is real or not." Olby would report a moon landing as if it was filmed in some hollywood studio. MSNBC should be ashamed to call it a news network.
Whoever said Olby is an Islamo-Fascist sympathizer is correct. I'm waiting for him to sing the praises of Hezbollah at any minute. I can't believe his take on this situation. Dan Abrams should be hiding under his desk in shame.
Sieg Heil, Olby, you loon.
Jonathan Alter is actually being fair tonight.
Purported threat? What planet is Olby on?
The scary thing is some people may use that boob, Olbie as real news.
Ulbernut is a Jihadi sympathizer. He's Pro Iran and anti Israel. He's a sick demented man.If he wasn't so vile, I'd pity that fool!
Ulbernut is a Jihadi sympathizer. He's Pro Iran and anti Israel. He's a sick demented man.If he wasn't so vile, I'd pity that fool!
I told you to prove it or shut up. You didn't prove it, SO SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!
I told you to prove it or shut up. You didn't prove it, SO SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!
YOU prove that Olby's not a Jihadist butt-buddy. If you can't prove he's not, SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!
YOU prove that Olby's not a Jihadist butt-buddy.
I don't have to. He made the claim, so he has to prove it. Otherwise, he's just wasting his breath and my time.
Anyone see TVNewser today? Brian Stelter is now quoting "The Nation" on his site. At least he's beginning to admit that he's a liberal activist who hates Fox News (and CNN) and wants to publicly beg MSNBC for a position as much as possible before he graduates from a sub-par journalism school.
The funniest occurance will be when MSNBC folds before he graduates, or just as he starts his job. Then he'll be pleading with CNN or FOX to hire him, and they won't touch him with a ten-foot pole.
What a joke that kid is.
BUSH BACKERS MAY ABANDON REPUBLICANS
WASHINGTON (AP) - Republicans determined to win in November are up against a troublesome trend -- growing opposition to President Bush. An Associated Press-Ipsos poll conducted this week found the president's approval rating has dropped to 33 percent, matching his all-time low in May. His [mis]handling of nearly every issue, from the Iraq war to foreign policy, contributed to the president's decline around the nation, even in the Republican-friendly South.
More sobering for the GOP are the number of voters who backed Bush in 2004 who are ready to vote Democratic in the fall's congressional elections -- 19 percent. Two years after giving the Republican president another term, more than half of these voters -- 57 percent -- disapprove of the job Bush is doing.
but hey, don't worry, wingnuts. Bush'll get a nice bump out of this latest terror alert ... all the way into the upper thirties. yowza.
Very telling that you use an AP (arabic press) news slug. About as reliable as KO or Dana Milbank.
