Always looking for a way to turn a story into a KO mention, Kristi Turnquist barely breaks a sweat in working Keith into her column on Mel Gibson.

I'm not proud of turning off NPR's coverage of the Middle East to watch MSNBC's "Countdown With Keith Olbermann" prattle on about a Hollywood big shot's public relations disaster. But for a few minutes, it was nice to pretend it was the most pressing issue of the day.

Olbermann was snarkily embarrassed about his own show's coverage of "our nation's continuing dependence on Mel Gibson developments." But in between the show's reports of the deaths of women and children in Lebanon, Israel and Iraq, I knew what Olbermann meant when he ruefully said: "Would that all the stories were about Mel Gibson."
