In case you hadn't notice, TVN has turned into CouricNewser over the past week. I hadn't because I don't read the site but an anonymous email tipster writes "TVN uncritically printed this anonymous emailer's comment":
"> "Katie's eyes looked odd -- worse in HD -- and the story selection and story count was poor..."
One problem, CBS News is not broadcast in High Definition!
Whoops. Isn't this something TVN ought to know?
HDTV Magazine reports...
Katie Couric, the $15 million a year news anchor, did her best last night to earn her keep and launch a new era in CBS network news. The reviews for the highly anticipated effort have been decidedly mixed. But how, I ask, could a new era in network news be declared without the addition of HDTV? Why didn't CBS add HDTV to their network news at this most auspicious time?
In fact, according to Robert Seidel, CBS's Vice President, Advanced Technology/Engineering, who is quoted in the piece, CBS News will not be in High-Def for many years to come.
I agree, too much Couric news, way too much. But it's nothing to get your panties in a bunch.
NF,
You think my post about is about the amount of Couric coverage on TVN? Try reading the headline. As for as Couric, I like Katie. What's not to like?
Non
Robert is not getting his panties in a bunch he is pointing out tvnewser prints e-mails without checking the facts. Or something that tvnewser should know since he is a well (supposed) respected tv news blogger.
If we would like to talk about people getting their panties in a bunch. And I haven't seen you do this but, those Loons that stick on the two year old O'Reilly loofah and fallafal comments. It's time to bring the comments a little more closer to real time. Unless thats all they have.
Hey, It's Perkie Katie, America's sweetheart, I don't watch her. We will see where shes at in ratings a month from now.
Here are some of TVNewser's greatest 'e-mailer' hits from the past couple of weeks. It's pretty obvious that Stelter has set up hotmail accounts and is now e-mailing himself.
On low-rated MSNBC being dropped from XM Radio:
"This is kind of disappointing," an e-mailer says. "It was nice to have CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, Fox News and Headline News all available."
On MSNBC's new graphics:
"The new MSNBC graphics look great," one e-mailer says.
And my absolute favorite:
"So few news people today ask the hard questions let alone speak truth to power," an e-mailer says. "Olbermann stood up for free speech and all American citizens..."
"Robert is not getting his panties in a bunch..."
I wasn't suggesting he was.
NON!
You said Robert shouldn't get his panties in a bunch.
I said he didn't get his panties in a bunch.
You say tomato, I say tomato!
TVNewser posting about Katie Couric is nothing to get your panties in a bunch about. I wasn't saying anyone was, just that it wasn't a big enough story to care a lot about. If Mr. Cox would have made a few more posts about the same exact subject then I would say that he's "getting his panties in a bunch."
Did you look at the site the beginning of the week? Hourly posts titled "12 hours to Katie", "11 hours to Katie" etc. Jesus, you'd think the guy was in CBS's pocket instead of MSNBC's.
Here's journalism at its finest:
A piece from NewsDay.com that describes the relationship between Olbermann bud David Brock and Senator Hillary Clinton. We read of Sen. Clinton's support for Brock's six-figure non-profit Sorros-site Media Matters... and we learn about the warm gratitude Sen Clinton feels toward David...
'"David is immensely valuable to Hillary," says a wealthy Democrat with ties to Brock, speaking anonymously. "It's like having your former prosecutor running around saying you were wrongfully prosecuted. He's living proof the right wing is out to get Hillary. ... I don't think anyone really trusts him. He'll never get a job in the [Hillary Clinton] White House, but he's useful."'
She wouldn't actually work with him...but Senator Clinton finds David Brock "useful"...
David Brock and Olbermann find each other useful.
Senator Reid finds Olbermann ....useful...
What more could a truth-seeking journalist ask for....

There's just no defense for Brian Stelter. Today, he ignored more negative news for MSNBC, and even as Drudge picks up on it, refuses to mention Matthews/Shuster/Gregory/Olbermann eating crow on the CIA leak 'story'. It's funny to see someone ruin their career before it even starts. Keep it up, college boy.
