It's Sunday, October 8th, and there are just three days remaining in the David Shuster Countdown to the resignation of Speaker Hastert. As we wait to see if this will be another Slippery Shuster Karl Rove Moment, we are pleased to present a short soundbite about the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann, courtesy of The Great One, Mark Levin.
On his Friday program, Mr Levin was sounding off about media bias, and when that topic comes up, it is inevitable that the discussion turns to Krazy Keith--poster boy for propaganda and spin. Here, for your listening pleasure, is an mp3 clip:
Levin hits the nail on the head, when he says Chris Mathews is pretending to be a journalist and the countdown to no news.
So he calls some people "dumb" and "shmucks". It's not really a strong argument. I don't think Matthews, Olbermann or Scarborough claim to be journalists. They would have the same title as Mr. Levin, commentator. The differences there should be plain to see. Anyone who thinks that Hardball, Countdown or Scarborough Country are news programs, is, unfortunately, not very bright. It's unfortunate that you are using this as an example of the voices against Olbermann. It just doesn't seem very intelligent.
Chris Mathews thinks he is a journalist. So does Keith Olbermann. They are both on a twenty four hour "news" channel. If MSNBC wants to stop calling itself a news channel, and start calling themselves an opinion channel, then Levin would have nothing to complain about.
Hannity and Colmes obviously presents both sides to any issue. When O'Reilly states his opinion, he typically prefaces it with remarks stating such.
When liberal newscasters state their opinion, they typically preface it with, "most people would agree/state/argue...that ____ ____ ____."
They fill in the blanks with thier opinions.
Olberdouche certainly considers himself a journo. Hell he was introduced as a journo on Letterman.
Also, Fox News has the cajones to interview people with opposing opinions to thiers. KO typically only interviews his friends, or others that have similar opinions to his.
Anyone who thinks that Hardball, Countdown or Scarborough Country are news programs, is, unfortunately, not very bright.
Oh, you mean for instance people who go the MSNBC website and find that Meltdown is proclaimed to be a "news" show and that Orange Boy is the "anchor" of such "news" show. Once again another Olbermann sycophant know nothing has wandered in here mouthing off about something they know nothing about
I'm assuming a staffer from MSNBC killed his dog a few years ago. What an attitude he has, and all he comes off across is as an angry whiney man who can't do anything about his problems.
Well, you guys proved me wrong by citing examples of their statements of journalistic pedigree. Just because someone is introduced as a journalist on Letterman, doesn't make them a journalist. If I were to state that Bill O'Reilly is a Republican doesn't make it so. I think it's safe to say that O'Reilly is a commentator as well. I don't fault him for being a commentator nor do I fault Olbermann for his commentary, I take it with a grain of salt and realize that shows that are cluttered with personal takes on issues (which are prevalent on MSNBC and FOX) can no longer be viewed as journalism. Once opinion is introduced it becomes opinion or editorial. I don't see anything wrong with editorials or opinion, I just don't consider in actual reporting. Journalists should present facts and only facts. This is the only distinction I'm trying to make.
It's Sunday and I wonder who is pumping sperm up Keith Anally's shit chute this weekend? Dana Spermbank maybe? How about the the lispy, dainty Richard Wolffe?
(Doesn't Keith now refer to Bill O'Reilly as Bill Orally?)
I see where you're going with your statement. I would almost concede the point with you on O'Reilly, but not until the MSM comes clean on thier daily bias reporting, ever since I have been paying attention.
The righties only have 1 news channel, the lefties have the 3 networks and at least three other 24 hour "newschannels". It's no wonder Fox News is kicking butt in the ratings.
Also, it seems every major newspaper out there has a left leaning agenda. I guess this is why the righties feel the need for conservative radio talk. The lefties don't need it, as they can get thier charge of political opinions from just reading thier local paper.
"G Monster", you assert "Fox News has the cajones to interview people with opposing opinions to thiers." I question your assertion.
Did Fox News, for example, include any Democrats in today's talk shows?
Are you able to support your assertion that Fox News provides a Democrat to oppose every Republican they interview?
Geez, you guys have been great with the name-calling for years, but the facts are pretty tough on you. And the hypocrisy is actually hilarious - KO claims to be a journalist because he's on a "24 hour news channel"? By that ridiculous standard, BO and Hannity are journalists.
Look, you shallow putzes consider any news that displeases you to be "left." That's why Fox et al will always have great ratings - the nation is full of morons who rush to BO, Hannity, Hume and Rush (unless "Wheel of Fortune" or "Two and a Half Men" is on.) There's no shortage of idiots willing to agree that insisting on warrants for wiretaps is the same as objecting to listening in on terrorist communications. Trouble is, reality - and this nation's fundemental principles, thank God - are full of bad news for youz.
Yes, KO can be sanctimonious and strident at times, but that's bad hair compared to that lying SoS in the White House characterizing all who oppose his incompetence as "pro-terrorist" and appeasers. If you nutjobs spent half the time watching CSPAN and keeping your mouth shut as you do fretting over KO, you'd stop watching FAUX News and start being angry about things that are worth getting mad about; This administration's daily assault on the Constitution, and the pandering and corruption that permeate Congress.
Alas, that's unlikely. Tough for people to look at the record and admit they've made big mistakes (Just ask Rumsfeld). It's easier to fume and foam, attack dissenters and do so by issuing ingenious labels like "Olberdouche" and "Keith Anally" Wow. Your 8th grade educations were put to good use.
Dear G Monster, I have to take strong exception with the following:
Also, Fox News has the cajones to interview people with opposing opinions to thiers.
I could write a book but will limit myself to only two brave cajone bearing heros. And you dare to speak Fox News in the same breath.
My heart swells and my emotions spill over when I think of Arianna Huffington standing in her homeland in the streets of Budapest, arm raised screaming TRUTH TO POWER at the RUSSIAN TANKS.
Sir, I assure you she was only wearing a light reflecting shielded hoop skirt to conceal her huge goldplated cajones. This brave young girl has grown to a woman now. Like Queen Bodaecia fighting the EVIL ROMAN EMPIRE Arianna is bravely putting herself between us and THE EVIIIIL BUSH EMPIRE.
The truth can now be told. Ramsey Clark, standing in the streets of Bagdad in 1990, shaking with righteous indignation speaking TRUTH TO POWER to the new Emperor's father in Washington was only standing behind a wheelbarrow because with age his had grown too large to support.
Sir, have you no shame? How DARE you compare these saints to the station that can not be spoken. I could go on but it is the time for me to light the candles at their shrine and give thanks to those that are speaking TRUTH TO POWER for a poor pitiful fool like me.

To all and sundry, I got a server error message and wound up posting twice. Very sorry. Don,t you hate that. Like when you ram a model of the Empire State Buiding up your nose. Don't you hate that.

I want to move this site to its own server. It costs about $200/month. I am not going to LOSE money running this site so if I can start getting ads to support that cost I will move the site which will mean faster processing and less errors when posting.
Dear Mt. Cox, I don't think it is that big of a problem. My guess is the overwhelming multiple posts are from the most rabid Olberloons.
I am a neophyte to the world of PCs and blogs and this has only happened to me once.
The first post I made showed three or four times later. Shortly thereafter I read a post that mentioned as an afterthought how to avoid it. Refresh and check.
I'm sure it was me. My son is planning to reinstall everything this week because its acting so funny.
My advice is to keep the 200 or so. With a daughter starting college you well might find yourself poorer than youv'e been in many years.

You know what? We are just not as tolerant of opposing views as we once were...I used to watch firing line when I was little...I love Keith and think he is great!
We are not loons....we just love our country and want our government to behave ethically...............
Janet Hawkins,
Arianna Huffington, Ramsey Clark. Those are your heros? No wonder you like KO. Good Luck in your endeavors. Fox News is the only news I watch.
I wonder where the piece of paper Swas on the Hastert watch that Shuster is so fond of waving like he did in the "Countdown to Rove's Indictment".
That "indictment sheet" is probably as fake as those soapflakes KO sent himself.
Hey thanks for linking to my blog hiliting Countdown and the great job Keith is doing. I appreciate the Google Juice!
Olbermann and I love underage kids!
G monster, I said in part:
Arianna Huffington standing in her homeland in the streets of Budapest, arm raised screaming TRUTH TO POWER at the RUSSIAN TANKS......only wearing her light shielding reflective hoop skirt to conceal her huge gold plated cajones
G monster, you hurt my feelings. It was SARCASISM!
Please, someone, anyone tell me the world has not been so Olbylooned that my post could have been perceived as anything but sarcastism..
This makes me feel that I don't belong in the world.

Let's be honest, with the exception of CNN, are there really any other cable news networks that actually employ real journalists? I know Fox News doesn't have any. Most of these guys are just talking heads.
The thing about Olbermann that separates him from the likes of Hannity and O'Reilly, is that he can think. Hannity is a parrot for the GOP who makes Joseph Goebbels blush look like a neophyte when it comes to spinning propoganda. O'Reilly is just a clown; people watch his show for the comedy value...kind of like Saturday Night Live.
In the big scheme of things, it doesn't really matter because the GOP is going down next month, and I don't mean on 16 year old male pages! The only people who will be supporting them at this stage of the game are their core base: uneducated, superstitiuous, and toothless hillbillies living in rural America.
"I want to move this site to its own server. It costs about $200/month."
First, switch to WordPress. No rebuilding, so the server won't have to work as much & things are a lot quicker. Did I mention no rebuilding?
NO way a site that is prominently text oriented should have to cost that much (unless you're Andrew Sullivan & you need to pay for an intern to scope out only the sychophantic e-mails and a month long vacation). You can switch to WP & get a top-of-the-line account (I'm thinking ehostpros, which is my provider) for less than $20/month.
***Let's be honest, with the exception of CNN, are there really any other cable news networks that actually employ real journalists?****
Idiot alert.
I meant "was", not "Swas". Sorry.
i have more than one site.
i am looking at drupal
"The thing about Olbermann that separates him from the likes of Hannity and O'Reilly, is that he can think."
Bwahahah!
Yes. The "Worst Person In The World" segment is typical of this, er, "thinking."
He's a washed up tourteet's-addled sportscaster playing a political commentator on a channel that few people watch.
Janet Hawkins,
I'm sorry, I didn't realize your post was sarcasm.
I have seen Arianna spout off on the O'Reilly show and have a very low opinion of her.
I had to google Ramsey Clark and didn't find him to be of my liking either.
How many times, just this week, did Olby utter variations of "...on this newscast."? It'd be easy to find, just check the transcripts.
Olby claims to be an anchor of a newscast. Not a commentator. That's why he raises such a fuss about his "Special Comments." Claiming that he "rarely gives his opinion, but must now because..." whatever his excuse is.
The Olby defenders really need to have a meeting so they are all on the same page as KO. When your defenses contradict KO's own claims, it doesn't help your cause.
Actually, not only does Olby claim to be a journalist, the man insanely compaires himself to Edward R. Murrow, and thinks he's "Non-Partisan" and 'Fair".
Actually, not only does Olby claim to be a journalist, the man insanely compaires himself to Edward R. Murrow, and thinks he's "Non-Partisan" and "Fair".
Indeed, most other networks have opposing views because, OH MY GOD GUESS WHAT!!
Conflict is compelling and intersting to watch. It's not just fair, but a practical facet of any TV program.
Of course some people just get off on being a choir to their orange faced Preacher.
MSNBC is no doubt liberal bias at the extreme and over the top. It's even worse they do this for ratings. The funny thing is nobody is watching their program in any big numbers. Anyone who watches their show is already brainwashed by liberals and they will not attract any Fox viewers with their garbage. Olberman is a sacrificial offering by MSNBC because they know they can not beat Bill. MSNBC is almost dead last in the ratings. Their assumption that Fox News is Conservative so it gives them the right to back liberals is as comical as watching willie point that crooked finger in the air. ANybody with any sense knows Fox may lean to the right but most of their show host are fair minded. Nobody, even Sean, is close to Olberman. Olberman has held several jobs over the past few years and sooner or later MSNBC will buckle and Olby will be looking for another job.
I cannot think of one time I have seen a conservative on KO show!!! Hannity and Comes always has at least one person on each side of the aisle. Just because Hannity usually mops the floor with Comes ins't Hannity's fault. Sean Hannity freely admits he is a conservative. BO admits he leans to the right. KO thinks he is not biased at all!!! Give me a break! KO is to the left of Crazy Howard Dean (scream)
Brad
This Levin clip is the funniest thing I have ever heard LMAO fantastic !
Mark Levin is a pile of crap...
infamous and deplorable? the despicable, vile, immoral self-righteous liars (Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, Rice, DeLay, Ney, Abramoff, Hastert, Foley, the list goes on, and on, and on) and war profiteers on the right and in the White house define "infamous and deplorable" and have for the past 6 years.
I wonder if that dickhead Olbermann realizes that Bill O'Reilly is probably appreciating all the free publicity he gets from him. KO does not play well with others, hell, he does'nt even get along with the people he works with. He pisses and moans continuously about free speech getting suppressed and does'nt even consider the fact that in any totalitarian society, he would have been shot a long time ago.
