UPDATE: Cornell is now censoring comments on their website in reponse to this post. See update below for more.
In this article The Ultimate Trip, Senior Editor Kyle Sheahen produces what reads like a drug-addled caricature of one of those MSM KO Bandwagon articles we love to highlight here at Olbermann Watch. This is SO BAD it's actually funny. A "must read".
More than 10 years after Murrow's See It Now program exposed Senator McCarthy's corruption, Keith Olbermann '79 graduated from our beloved Cornell.
Besides the fact that McCarthy was never accused of "corruption" and that Murrow did not "expose" McCarthy , the famous "confrontation" between Murrow and McCarthy took place in 1954.
Today, Olbermann is one of the most respected journalists in the country.
OMFG. This kid really is delusional. I seriously doubt even Keith would agree with this claim.
His Countdown with Keith Olbermann routinely trumps industry vets like Paula Zahn at CNN for the cable news ratings crown.
The sad thing is that this "Ivy Leaguer" actually thinks this is true. For the record, Countdown has on a handful occassions gotten a bigger audience than Zahn over the past three years. I am not going to run the numbers but the figure is probably something like 99.5% of the time Zahn beats Olbermann.
As for the "cable news ratings crown", Olbermann has NEVER EVER NOT ONE TIME EVER had the top rated cable news show in the hour, in the demo or overall. That this "senior editor" might actually think this is true is a sad commentary on the state of education in the United States. That said, he sounds like he has a real future working for a mainsteam newspaper.
It only gets worse...
...in the over-hyped playland of sports broadcasting, Olbermann was a child with the biggest names and most expensive toys in sports at his disposal. And he looked miserably out of place.
As St. Paul said, "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. But, when I became a man, I put away the things of a child."
Olbermann has now become a man.
Ummm. This is joke, right?
Nope, Kyle continues..
Olbermann has emerged as a heavy-hitting news reporter
Ol' Fat Ass may be "Heavy" but not "heavy-hitting" and certainly not a "a heavy-hitting news reporter".
Olbermann was there on Sept. 11, 2001, in New York for 40 days of continuous reporting.
Keith may have been in New York that today but, as I recall it, he was not REPORTING from the WTC site on 9/11. He took a job with ABC News in order to report from the WTC site AFTER the 9/11 attacks.
He was in Iraq in 2003 when the United States launched its invasion.
This is too easy. Just add your own observations here while I go get a paper towel to wipe the coffee I just spit all over my keyboard when I read this line.
he has weathered intimidation and threats from the likes of Bill O'Reilly and the New York Post.
You think we would have heard if O'Reilly or the Post threatened Keith. You can only wonder what this kid is possibly thinking about.
Olbermann gave up every kid's fantasy in order to truly serve his country. He traded the Little League World Series for Mark Foley, the Final Four for evangelical voters and the Oakland Raiders for the White House
On the five-year anniversary of Sept. 11 last month, Olbermann stood among the ruins of the World Trade Center and delivered a damning condemnation of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the rest.
I don't recall Olbermann mentioning Cheney, Rumsfeld or "the rest" not do I recall Keith standing "among the ruins" of the World Trade Center. In fact, I don't recall there being any "ruins" at all because the last remnants of the World Trade Center were hauled out of "the pit" in June, 2002 (9 months after 9/11). Also, Keith broadcast from a roof top overlooking the WTC site
This piece is so shoddy that not only should the editor of the school paper terminate this guy's column but the kid's parents should demand a refund of his tuition. It almost seems impossible that someone could be so stupid. That this kid got into Cornell should give home to every C student in high school today.
UPDATE: In keeping with a long-standing Ivy League tradition, Cornell's student newspaper is now censoring comments to an error-filled, fact-challenged left-wing rant. Comments WERE acceptable on the Cornell Sun web site right up until Olbermann Watch linked the piece, pointed its many errors and mocked the writer and the paper.
