Olbermann Watch, "persecuting" Keith since 2004

October 28, 2006
The Olbersaurus

As a service to our readers, the Olbermann Watch Research Division has assembled a comprehensive glossary of terms used by Keith Olbermann for his smears, insults, and personal attacks. Please do not use this particular comments thread as a stream-of-consciousness smorgasboard for whatever comes into your head. Off-topic ramblings will be periodically deleted, so don't bother writing them, or replying to them. Please use this space for discussion of the Keith Koncordance.

Are you not including names Herr Olbersturmfuhrer uses? Example: Ted Baxter

That's a fair point. The committee will take it under consideration.

In Between Pies - slur against overweight people who are more successful than Olby (namely Roger Ailes).

Pot, Meet Kettle - Criticism leveled by clear-thinkers against Olby when he insults others for behavior that either he has committed or is committing. Olby-Watchers use this term A LOT.

This is a most-excellent and highly useful tool for Clear Thinkers. I'm sure it will also be useful for the Olby-apologists the next time they demand proof for Olby's slurs and insults.

As an addendum to my 1;29 comment, Olby-Watchers also use "Pot, Meet Kettle" when Olby calls others "fat ass." Apparently he must not own a mirror. Or a clue.

What about the use of SIR in the exclamatory? e.g. "you lied, sir!"

-used with the intention to belittle or disparage in the hopes undercutting ones rank or office.

When he says Jeeeeeeeesus, that is a kick. There are a lot of Christians who believe using that term is offensive. Of course, Olby denies that it is using the Lord's name in vain and even brought on a libnut clergyman to defend his position.

my only comment right now is that Rita Cosby should be the one wearing the "I'm with stupid " shirt.
here is to the the codex olbermannanus!
man on dog is one of olber-poofs favorite in refferring to Rick Santorum- we know how little kiethy loves being a fag -hag. Hey who need s a family when you have Hilary to take care of you right?

Include Man on Fan for Olby.

Man on Coed also might apply.

Well if you're going that route, even better than Man on Coed would be: babysitter.

So true. I stand corrected.

I am interested in the clinical study part. He gets a 100 full-score on childbride. He definitely needs some help.

this is a VERY interesting list and I enjoyed reading it.

unfortunately, this website is as close as I can stand to get to the "toxic" Keith Olbermann.

I don't know how you guys stand it watching his show every night, but I appreciate that you do, and that you provide feedback like the above on a nightly basis.

What a service..

The "toxic" Keith Olbermann is in another dimension entirely I agree, but I'm so insulated, I also can't stand Chris Matthews, Don Imus, Wolf Blitzer, Bill Scheider, just say anyone on MSNBC or CNN. If it's on, I FREAK out.

I haven't watched the broadcast networks CBS, NBS, ABC since Watergate. I was a very early "alternative media" refugee from the leftist propogandists in the MSM.

God, I can't imagine watching a whole hour of Keith Olbermann. Thank you for allowing me a place to vent my hate for someone I've never seen but know well.

How about "this is the finger I write the show with" and "for this relief much thanks."

How about calling this list The Olbersaurus?

I like Olbersaurus.

Here kitty kitty kitty, here kitty kitty kitty

Here Kitty, Kitty - Phrase used by Olby to insult and "call out" his enemies (chiefly BOR). It has the same meaning as the vulgar term for a female reproductive body part. Olby says "Here Kitty, Kitty" because if Olby actally called someone the more vulgar term, he would get his "fat ass" kicked.

Johnny,

Olbermann has also worn the "internets" Bushism to death.

He's now poised to wear down "the google" as well.

Olby says "Here Kitty, Kitty" because if Olby actally called someone the more vulgar term, he would get his "fat ass" kicked.

Who would do it?

I stumbled , happily, across OW about six weeks ago. Tried to watch Countdown a few times but my gag reflex drove me away.

Please tell me Olbuffoon did not use the word c**t on air.

I like Olbersaurus also. Brings to mind the era when dumb beasts roamed the land, n'est ce pas.

Janet Hawkins
AKA Grammie

> Please tell me Olbuffoon did not use the word c**t on air.

No that was in an email to a viewer.

I have deleted several comments that not only weren't about the Olbersaurus, they weren't even about Olbermann! Ã…nyone whose stuff got deleted and doesn't understand why, just read the first comment in this thread. Thank you so much.

remarkable - word used to describe books coming entirely and solely from the left side of the aisle; example: John Dean's "Conservatives without conscience", Tom Ricks's "Fiasco"

expert - word used to describe someone who parrots anything coming from the host's mouth; example: Jonathan Turley

And, for honorable mention:

left wing - Sorry, no known evidence of that phrase....only familiar with right wing.

liberal - See left wing

Great Thanks - Valediction given to anyone who agrees and supports all words spoken by host of show; Example: 99% of all guests ever (not including Jackie Mason or John Ashcroft)

Bill Orally - grade-school play on words to attack competitors exponentially successful than you; Example: Bill O'Reilly

Corruption - Words used to describe the actions of conservatives, and conservatives alone. NOTE: This cannot, I repeat, cannot, refer to the actions of anyone on the left (Jefferson, Menendez, Reid, BJ Clinton, etc; Example: Plamegate, "Republican Sex Scandal", etc...

Coultergeist - Slanderous reference to conservative author, due to jealousy of having significantly inferior book sales results; Example: Ann Coulter

Purported - Adjective used to describe the war of terror in all examples, except for receipt of laundry soap at residence of host; Example: See virtually every episode.

Republican Pundit - See "Lock Ness Monster", or "Bigfoot", While being discussed at length repeatedly, there is no known verification of their existence, outside of the nightly reference in Media Matters minute.

There's also the "thanks code" with Olbermann.

Thanks= 1.I invited you on to parrot my opinions and you've gone and rebutted them.

2. You're a conservative, libertarian, or Republican and you're on to voice a difference you have with Administration policy.

Many thanks= You've agreed with every word I said in the set-up for this segment.

Great thanks= 1. You've not only agreed with every word I've said, you've cast the situation, Repubican, or Bushie in a worse light than I have.

2. You've agreed with my set-up and you are some cultural or liberral icon-- John Dean and/or notable person in the industry-- Carl Bernstein, so I want to suck up.

The Falafel Guy---An attack on Bill O'Reilly. Krazy Keith no longer uses this personal attack because it has come to light that the tan man himself is a premature ejaculator and an overall dud in the sack.

Purported - Adjective used to describe the war of terror in all examples, except for receipt of laundry soap at residence of host; Example: See virtually every episode.

Posted by: Ohio Mike at October 29, 2006 08:05 AM"

We have a winner! DEAD-ON, brother!

Ratings-- Any discussion of ratings by the Krazy One is bizzaro world ratings. Once a month the tan-man claims to be up double digits in the ratings yet continues to settle near the bottom of the cable news race. Olbermann is one sensational murder trial away from Nancy Grace mopping the floor with forth place Keith.

Cecelia,

Thanks for the kind words...make me blush, why don't you?....my personal favorite was the analogy of "Republican pundit" to "Loch Ness Monster" or "Bigfoot".

I have one more for you:

Voting irregularities - Phrase used to describe or explain away democratic defeats in elections. NOTE: Must ALWAYS and ONLY be used in reference to states carried by Republican candidates; Example: 2004 Ohio general election results, 2004 Florida panhandle counties, etc...

I am on a roll here:

Dirty Campaign Ads - Ads run by either Republican candidates, or conservative organizations, during election years. NOTE: This CANNOT refer to any democratic ad, under any circumstance; Example: See Countdown between now and election day 2006 for numerous examples.

Man-Tan: An applied, artificial, orange skin hue popularized by narcissists and gay men. Example: Keith on "The Big Show"

Wronger: not in agreement with OlbySpin. Example: emails from Keith

Much Thanks: form of apology for sexual inadequacy and premature ejaculation. Example: Karma Bites

And the hits just keep on coming:

"Stories my producers are forcing me to cover" - Items of minimal societal importance, thereby using up valuable air time that could otherwise go towards apologizing for previous reporting innaccuracies (see Pujols, Albert), stock market index successes (see DJIA), or any other assorted news item which could be viewed as positive in any way, shape, or form to the administration; Example: Paris Hilton, Cruise News, Madonna adoptions, Lindsay Lohan, or anything involving either TMZ or Michael Musto

Milbank & Shuster--- Partisan hacks put forth by MSNBC as objective analyst. Their sources are always "Anonymous, High Ranking,Unnamed, and Unidentified". These sources always back up the liberal point of view...See Wilson/Plame

Sen. Chucky Schumer---Teflon. Aides of Chucky were caught red handed falsely obtaining the credit information of Michael Steele. The MSM barely covered. In fact in many articles written about this criminal activity you will NOT even find Schumers name. If Chucky were republican he would have been ruined, forced to answer questions about his involvement and possible forced to resign!!!

...but Ann Coulter DOES have a blue-ribbon adam's apple. Just look for yourself.

Great contribution to the thread, Sir Loin of Beef. Your insight is extremely valuable....

talk about Coulter's so called adams appleall you leftards want she is still right about EVERYTHING especially liberals being a--holes.

What is the point of the lexicon exactly? It can't be that misogyny or overly personal attacks are offensive. You could fill up a lot more pages than this with Glenn Beck's or Chris Matthew's attacks on Hillary Clinton alone. So, really, what's the statement here?

Btw, I have to respect this discussion group for not deleteing Jury Duty's ramblings the way Ohio Mike predicted.

Don't speak too soon. I will be deleting off-topic comments periodically. Why is it that we can't have ONE thread that sticks to the topic?

This is great fun. Many thanks R. Cox and J$.

I second something on the line of:

Guide to OlbyLoons

Habitats, Habits and Habeus Corpus

It could take the form of a booklet or an addendum to the Keith Konkordance. A few entries I would suggest:

OLBYLOON

* appearance - no credible sightings yet due to preference to operate from the bathtub, under furniture, in caves in Pakistan and Afghanistan and their tendency to operate under aliases.

* fers - the natural longing of all loons to impress KO and other loons with their superior skill at using loon tactics.

* habitat - everywhere in the universe except in the open.

* habeas corpus - a rallying call for the Loons. Guaranteed to bring large flocks flying in, making a lot of noise, crapping all over the place and then fly out crooning to each other that they care. Some have contended it is actually a mating call (see below) There is, however, no proof of that.

* mating call - no credible reports. See 'appearance' above. This is considered a good thing by geneticists around the world.

* lexiloon - consists mainly of words banned in polite society and is heavily laced with derogatory adjectives and nouns. See below.

TACTICS

* tactics - consist mainly of the following elements:
1. Change the subject to anyone else who has made a perceived or actual mistake. Frequently characterized by no limititations on time. It is also not confined to the germane or true.

2. Accuse anyone who disagrees, especially OW fans, of as many intellectual, moral and sexual perversions as you can. Only limited by how much typing the loon's fingers will tolerate.

3. Tar those who disagree, again concentrating on OW fans, with being a eviiiiil Karl Rove plant, a brain dead parrot, mouthpiece for anyone Loons dislike, etc.

4. Use the KO Omniscient Reading Method.
This allows the Loon to ascribe unlimited false meanings to anything ever written.

LEXILOON

* mostly self explanatory words when used by a Loon in reference to a OW fan or anyone who disagrees with them. Not a complete list yet.

*bitch
*mad bitch
*crazy bitch
*homo
*homophobe
*rascist
*pediophile
*inbred
*incest and incestuous
*c**t
*barbaric c**t
*bestiality
*imbecile
*baby killer
*Nazi
*fascist
*Christonazi - My cap.Loons rarely capitalize this word.
*fundy right wing - Fill in the blank. Frequently followed by nut, pervert, homophobe, hypocrite, etc.
*schill
*mean, mean spirited - Frequenly used to accuse others of wanting painfull deadly diseases to never be cured.
*christian - As used by Loons in the context of: Christians are worse than the Islamic terrorists.

FERS

*onefer - Response incorporating only one tactic. For example the following responses to the simple innoxious statement that M J Fox's ad was misleading. A 'onefer' response would be any of the following:

1. Bush made General Powell lie to the UN.

2. You stupid inbred fascist.

3. Why can't you think for yourself and quit parroting Karl Rove.

4. How dare you try to shred the constitution and deny me the right to speak.

*twofer: combine any of the two above. Think Chinese restaurent. One from column A and one from column B. Such as: You stupid inbred fascist. Why can't you think for yourself and quit parroting Karl Rove.

*threefer: combine any three of the statements above. You stupid inbred fascist. Why can't you think for yourself and quit parroting Karl Rove. Bush made General Powell lie to the UN.

*fourfer: The goal of all Loons. Use all four tactics in one paragraph. Bush made General Powell lie to the UN. How dare you try to shred the constitution and deny me the right to speak.

I have heard that some believe the fourfer can be orgasmic for those Loons who are adept at using their Lexiloon limitless and creative words.

I don't know if anyone else will enjoy this. I hope some do. In any event, I had a wonderfull time doing it.

R. Cox and JS, if I didn't before, let me do it now. Thanks, many thanks, great thanks. And in case I haven't made myself clear, I will close this with

Many great thanks,

Janet Hawkins
AKA Grammie

Another batch of off-topic comments and replies to them have been nuked. You want to ramble, there are a dozen other threads where anything goes. This one is to discuss the Keith Koncordance, which may soon be officially titled the Olbersaurus (even though it's not really a thesaurus).

Ohio Mike,

We're not worthy!... Love the voter irregularities.

I have one:

"lies"--- policies not endorsed by Keith Olbermann...

Set-Up: What OlbySpin deems as an inappropriate question. Example: Chris Wallace's interview with Bill Clinton

What's a city dweller who is lino'd around town to do to overcompensate for his short comings? Can't buy a big truck or Corvette.....hand out GIANT checks to former presidents!

Firstly

Lastly

True, they are legit words, but do you know anyone else who actually uses them?

Thanks for providing the very entertaining and largely accurate listing of Keith's word selection along with specific examples of their applications. I think he's great......he's entertaining, accurate, informative and obviously very capable of pushing the correct buttons as he calls-out the "repugant right". Please keep up the great work Keith!

Repugnant Right????
I am a disillusioned Democrat.
A refugee from that party!

It's not about Republican or Democrat....it's about right or wrong. I think that maybe you're just disillusioned....

on the pipe again lightning???

Stay the course.

Everyday that KO is on MSNBC, he drops the stations credibility a notch. I've long known that the MSM was unfair and unbalanced. I am so glad there is Fox News.

And the mouth on that KO. He should wash it out with soap. And howcome KO can't find a woman in his age zone?

Imagine if someone on the right called people all those names. They rip on O'Reilly for being hard on his guests at times, but KO's name calling and character assassination is hideous, pathetic and sophomoric. Like most liberals, KO has an an inferiority complex. He can't have a reasonable discussion on the issues, so he resorts to tactics that would get him fired and banned if he was a conservative.

"Thanks for your time." Generally made to a guest who disagreed with KO's talking points on a particular topic, usually cutting short a segment. Rarely heard. Example, Col. Jack Jacobs on most appearances.

"I am so glad there is Fox News."

I hope you were being sarcastic there, G Monster. Fox News is the MSM. An entire network of it, in fact. Olbermann has one television show, whereas Fox star O'Reilly (who is a commentator, not a newscaster like Olbermann) even has a radio show. Olbermann isn't any more mainstream than Stewart and Colbert are.

I'm wondering why none of these words are cited for the times Olbermann used them, and why commentary for WHY he uses them is so readily available. Couldn't someone else write a similar list with things like...

fallafel - Bill O'Reilly has a small penis, which is why he mentioned it in a lewd comment to a female coworker.

"Why is it that we can't have ONE thread that sticks to the topic?"

Because, Johnny, your topics suck and reflect poorly on your intellect and personal honor. We're just trying to help.

"Set-Up: What OlbySpin deems as an inappropriate question. Example: Chris Wallace's interview with Bill Clinton"

I was one of over 20,000 people who sent emails to Wallace requesting that he ask the same question to Condi that he had asked of Clinton ("why didn't your administration do more to catch bin Laden following the attack on the Cole"). Seeing as how our intelligence agencies did not unequivocally attribute the attacks to bin Laden until early 2001, it would seem that the Bush admninistration might have been expected to intensify efforts during their eight months in office prior to 9/11. Wallacehad told Clinton that the reason he was aking this question was due to a large number of viewer emails, so we thought we'd play the free-market news game that Fox operates and try to get a relevant question posed to the Secretary of State.

Guess what; Wallace asked Condi nothing of the sort. He's a little pet sycophant, nothing more.
Liberal media? Wake up. Why is it that NBC refuses to air the Dixie Chicks' add for "shut up and sing"?

Hey Prick,

The Generals refused promotion and retired so that they COULD speak out. I too wish they had done it sooner, but perhaps the enormity of the disaster and the true intractibility of the Pentagon leadership dawned on them slowly.

The military is not democratic, in case you were unaware. It relies on strict adherance to the chain of command, which, if broken down, could be disastrous for US defensive capabilitites. That's why Kevin Tillman waited until he was discharged to cast his recent allegations.

That's why we are supposed to have grown-up executive leadership and intensive oversight from congress in regard to the military - because we the people act en loco parentis in regard to our military; they cannot and should not politically defend themselves. This is why the cynical abuse of our troops stands as such a vile crime perpetrated by Bush and his sissy pirate crew.

Olbermann is like a breath of fresh air. Can anyone really refute (with FACTS, that is- not the usual right-wing innuendo and repeated "urban myths") anything he reports? It's a nightly dose of reality, and I must admit, a damn entertaining smack-down of the frat boys currently in power. And his ratings are growing to boot!

Actually, the Olbersaurus sounds like a large, prehistoric reptile with a brain the size of a walnut and an ego the size of the Yucatan meteor strike crater. Died off due to being born 130 million years before the invention of Viagra.

Nice "Dick-tionary" JD.

I am disappointed...I just got home from work, and noticed that zero of my submissions have been accepted into The Olbersaurus.

Tsk tsk tsk....

I vote to include the pronoun "I" in the Olbersaurus.

Considering how often segments begin with a reference to "I know" so and so, "I was at" such and such event, "I am" the posterchild for Media Matters, "I did" such a great job for my last 20 or so employers, "I" seems to be his favorite word to date.

As soon as "I" is muttered, viewers know that another round of self-promoting is starting again.

Another one belonging in the Olbersaurus: YOO HOO.

A YOO HOO is a diversionary verb meant to distract from any form of stupidity by swerving to an implausible explanation in order to cover up the misdeed.

Recognized as a modernized version of crossing one's fingers behind one's back while telling a lie as a way to absolve oneself of any responsibility for said falsehood.

Used in a sentence: "Boy, that Nazi salute sure could have gotten me in trouble, but I yoo hooed out of it."

Historical information: Can be traced back to July 2006 during an Olbermann Tonight show appearance.

divisive - not in agreement with OlbySpin. Example: "Mister Bush's rhetoric was divisive..."

I just heard a couple commentaries by olbermann and decided to search for more info about him. Just by listening to him I could tell that he was what most would consider either liberal or anti-Bush. I looked at this site to see what the opposing voice is.

I must say that I am amazed that most of the posts have to do with bashing him personally and getting upset that he disrespects people like Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly. I am not trying to defend him because I have not seen enough of his shows to form an opinion and I believe that like EVERY other journalist, he has a biased point of view and sometimes goes over the edge.

I do find it refreshing that he uses clips to demonstrate his point though. Too many times politicians spin what they say and the networks never show us the original footage for us to decide so we are forced to visit the Internet to find clarity. I wish more news was presented in the way Olbermann does his segments (although I wish the clips he uses were longer and had some context) because he lists his commentary with facts that we can see and hear for ourselves.

I'm troubled by this thread. Seems this guy is trying to squash criticism of Brian Stelter. How did TVN/MSNBC get to him?
