"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith Olbermann
Topics/Guests:
Herr Olbermann boomed his way through the opening spiel: Kerry's personal (on a web page) apology, why "Mister" Bush "should apologize to the troops", a plug for tonight's Speshul Komment [1], and Ann Coulter under investigation. The apology was the top story, with Olby predictably framing the whole war of words as a "deliberate misinterpretation" of a joke, and plugging his Speshul Komment [2]. KO played a clip of Kerry being self-serving with Don Imus (no, not the part when Imus tells him to just "stop"--you know Keith better than that!).
Olby showed a chart about growing sectarian violence in Iraq, without noting that it was a snapshot of the situation at the height of Ramadan fighting, and that since then the violence has been decreased and a current chart would look very different. Fineman, Pundit for All Occasions, made predictions about Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity milking the Kerry kerfuffle. He said "it's clear" Kerry was trying to joke, and the White House took the ball and ran with it. Then Howie went off the reservation a bit, blaming Kerry's handling of the situation for extending its news cycle viability. Olbermoronn brought up Rumsfeld and Cheney being kept for the rest of the term, and (Rule #1) asked if it was bad for Republicans and good for Democrats. Fineman delivered: "I think it is". Naturally, he got great thansked.
After a plug for the Speshul Komment [3], the #4 story was politics. Cue the multiple-discredited David Shuster. Republicans lose 17-25 in the House. Virginia finds Webb "slightly ahead of George Allen according to the latest polls". Karl Rove is certain to be indicted. Wait a second. Back up there. Webb is ahead in the latest polls? How can this be, when a survey released just today shows George Allen up by three points? Slippery Shuster delivers again. Since his "report" included at least one identifiable nugget of genuine misinformation, he naturally got great thanksed by The Great and Powerful Olb.
After oddball, Olby teased his Speshul Komment [4] then came to the #3 story of the day: "roughed up". All Mike Stark wanted to do is "ask his senator a question": "did you spit on your first wife?" (Clearly one of the burning issues of the day.) Olbermoronn never addressed any issues of trespass, instead characterizing the altercation as "manhandling" and possibly "outright assault". Stark himself took the seat of honor for a probing, incisive interview.
Stop the tivo! "Fat Ass" Olbermann is on his high horse about a heckler being roughed up? He's so outraged that he devotes an entire segment to the incident, even bringing on the Kossack "victim" for a supine, fawning interview? He must really object to this sort of tactic. Well, that depends. Recall his friend Al Franken, at a Howard Dean event? Stuart Smalley took it on himself to grab a heckler, slam him to the ground, and have him ejected. Tim Russert was there and watched with admiration. How did Monkeymann cover this fracas? Did he interview the protestor? Did he rail about "manhandling" and "outright assault"? Um, not exactly. Truth be told, Edward R Olbermann never reported that "manhandling" and "outright assault" at all.
But we digress. KO speculated about how thick the glass was and was it "possible" he could have gone through it? (Note to Olby: anything is possible.) The obligatory Bill O'Reilly references were included, several blue blogs were dutifully plugged, Herr Olbermann read passages from a book by Allen's estranged sister, and--needless to say--no one from the Allen campaign was permitted to appear. Gee, if only Stark had been a victim of Al Franken. This interview would never have run at all!
Another plug for the SK [5], there was some rerun video from the network mothership, followed by "Coultergeist" and her voting residence, Madonna, and a plug for the SK [6] about "the President's latest lie". In the "worst person" segment, Republicans and Diebold got named, along with free advertising for HBO's documentary with Bev Harris. Yes, the same Bev Harris that Olbermann once ridiculed, but now devotes precious airtime to plugging. Monkeymann knows where his blue blog bread is buttered.
And finally, held for the last possible Nielsen minute, the latest Speshul Komment [see APPENDIX below]. Complete with head moves, stentorian tones, one "sir" after another--and the obligatory turns to Camera 3 at the precisely scripted moments. Most bizarre moment: Rev Olbermann attempted to blame Republicans for the anthrax attacks by claiming they were aimed at "critics of your administration". Um, like the Murdoch-owned New York Post?!? Update: Oh, wait. He's not talking about the real anthrax attacks. He's only worked up about the fake one that he got. It matters not to him that within days of his fake anthrax letter, another one was received at a California radio station. KO never talks about that. Why? Because it's a conservative talk station. They are not "critics of the administration". So there goes another Krazy Keith Konspiracy shot all to hell.
Olby bent over backwards to concoct the most benign possible interpretation for the words of John Kerry. This is a deference and a benefit of the doubt he has never extended to Ann Coulter. Or John Gibson. Or Trent Lott? Or Rush Limbaugh. Or Bill O'Reilly. Or "Mister" Bush. The root of Keith's Speshul Komment is encapsulated here:
Mr. Bush and his minions responded, by appearing to be too stupid to realize that they had been called stupid. They demanded Kerry apologize to the troops in Iraq.
Stupid. It's "stupid" to be critical of what Kerry said. It's "stupid" to take what Kerry said as referring to the troops. It's "stupid" to ask him to apologize. So who, exactly, is the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann calling "stupid"? This is just a partial list:
Keith Olbermann would have you believe all of these people are minions of "Mister" Bush. All of them are stupid, but Edward R Olbermann has a monopoly on the truth. Even after a decidedly bipartisan outcry erupted over Kerry's statements, Olbermoronn bent over backwards to whitewash them. Even after Kerry himself issued an apology, KO ridiculed the very notion that anyone should request one. You want "stupid"? That's stupid.
Quiescent canines: The Pentagon is opening an investigation into leaks of classified information that could even lead to criminal charges, but KO didn't bother to report on it. Likewise, he's reluctant to relay any negative news about his hero Hugo Chavez, so he spiked the news that Venezuela is now out of the race for a seat on the UN Security Council. So quickly did Olby lose interest in the California wild fires that he hasn't even done the minimal follow-up regarding the arrest made yesterday. Oops, no time for that. And the discredited sports guy still has avoided any mention of Harold Ford's (D) outlandish claim that Democrats love the Lord, but Republicans don't. But the biggest dog that didn't bark is a photograph, a photograph that fearless, ace journalist Keith Olbermann didn't dare show:

Those "stupid" US troops. Why does Keith Olbermann hate them?
Olbermann's book The book that bears Olbermann's name sunk even further to #440 in sales at amazon, while Mr Bill's "Culture Warrior" is #11. At Barnes & Noble, the OlbyTome circles the drain at #2,405, while O'Reilly's best-seller stands at #22. Meltdown had a good night on Tuesday, making it into second place, even though The Factor more than doubled Olby's audience. Tonight's MisterMeter reading: 10 [SEVERE]
APPENDIX: Keith's Speshul Komment:
On the 22nd of May, 1856, as the deteriorating American political system veered toward the edge of the cliff, U.S. Rep. Preston Brooks of South Carolina shuffled into the Senate of this nation, his leg stiff from an old dueling injury, supported by a cane. And he looked for the familiar figure of the prominent senator from Massachusetts, Charles Sumner.
Brooks found Sumner at his desk, mailing out copies of a speech he had delivered three days earlier -- a speech against slavery.
The congressman matter-of-factly raised his walking stick in midair and smashed its metal point across the senator's head.
Congressman Brooks hit his victim repeatedly. Sen. Sumner somehow got to his feet and tried to flee. Brooks chased him and delivered untold blows to Sumner's head. Even though Sumner lay unconscious and bleeding on the Senate floor, Brooks finally stopped beating him only because his cane finally broke.
Others will cite John Brown's attack on the arsenal at Harper's Ferry as the exact point after which the Civil War became inevitable.
In point of fact, it might have been the moment, not when Brooks broke his cane over the prostrate body of Sen. Sumner -- but when voters in Brooks' district started sending him new canes.
Tonight, we almost wonder to whom President Bush will send the next new cane.
There is tonight no political division in this country that he and his party will not exploit, nor have not exploited; no anxiety that he and his party will not inflame.
There is no line this president has not crossed -- nor will not cross -- to keep one political party in power.
He has spread any and every fear among us in a desperate effort to avoid that which he most fears -- some check, some balance against what has become not an imperial, but a unilateral presidency.
And now it is evident that it no longer matters to him whether that effort to avoid the judgment of the people is subtle and nuanced or laughably transparent.
Sen. John Kerry called him out Monday.
He did it two years too late.
He had been too cordial -- just as Vice President Gore had been too cordial in 2000, just as millions of us have been too cordial ever since.
Sen. Kerry, as you well know, spoke at a college in Southern California. With bitter humor he told the students that he had been in Texas the day before, that President Bush used to live in that state, but that now he lives in the state of denial.
He said the trip had reminded him about the value of education -- that "if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you can get stuck in Iraq."
The senator, in essence, called Mr. Bush stupid.
The context was unmistakable: Texas; the state of denial; stuck in Iraq. No interpretation required.
And Mr. Bush and his minions responded by appearing to be too stupid to realize that they had been called stupid.
They demanded Kerry apologize to the troops in Iraq.
And so he now has.
That phrase -- "appearing to be too stupid" -- is used deliberately, Mr. Bush.
Because there are only three possibilities here.
One, sir, is that you are far more stupid than the worst of your critics have suggested; that you could not follow the construction of a simple sentence; that you could not recognize your own life story when it was deftly summarized; that you could not perceive it was the sad ledger of your presidency that was being recounted.
This, of course, compliments you, Mr. Bush, because even those who do not "make the most of it," who do not "study hard," who do not "do their homework," and who do not "make an effort to be smart" might still just be stupid, but honest.
No, the first option, sir, is, at best, improbable. You are not honest.
The second option is that you and those who work for you deliberately twisted what Sen. Kerry said to fit your political template; that you decided to take advantage of it, to once again pretend that the attacks, solely about your own incompetence, were in fact attacks on the troops or even on the nation itself.
The third possibility is, obviously, the nightmare scenario: that the first two options are in some way conflated.
That it is both politically convenient for you and personally satisfying to you, to confuse yourself with the country for which, sir, you work.
A brief reminder, Mr. Bush: You are not the United States of America.
You are merely a politician whose entire legacy will have been a willingness to make anything political; to have, in this case, refused to acknowledge that the insult wasn't about the troops, and that the insult was not even truly about you either, that the insult, in fact, is you.
So now John Kerry has apologized to the troops; apologized for the Republicans' deliberate distortions.
Thus, the president will now begin the apologies he owes our troops, right?
This president must apologize to the troops for having suggested, six weeks ago, that the chaos in Iraq, the death and the carnage, the slaughtered Iraqi civilians and the dead American service personnel, will, to history, "look like just a comma."
This president must apologize to the troops because the intelligence he claims led us into Iraq proved to be undeniably and irredeemably wrong.
This president must apologize to the troops for having laughed about the failure of that intelligence at a banquet while our troops were in harm's way.
This president must apologize to the troops because the streets of Iraq were not strewn with flowers and its residents did not greet them as liberators.
This president must apologize to the troops because his administration ran out of "plan" after barely two months.
This president must apologize to the troops for getting 2,815 of them killed.
This president must apologize to the troops for getting this country into a war without a clue.
And Mr. Bush owes us an apology for this destructive and omnivorous presidency.
We will not receive them, of course.
This president never apologizes.
Not to the troops.
Not to the people.
Nor will those henchmen who have echoed him.
In calling him a "stuffed suit," Sen. Kerry was wrong about the press secretary.
Mr. Snow's words and conduct, falsely earnest and earnestly false, suggest he is not "stuffed," he is inflated.
And in leaving him out of the equation, Sen. Kerry gave an unwarranted pass to his old friend Sen. John McCain, who should be ashamed of himself tonight.
He rolled over and pretended Kerry had said what he obviously had not.
Only, the symbolic stick he broke over Kerry's head came in a context even more disturbing.
Mr. McCain demanded the apology while electioneering for a Republican congressional candidate in Illinois.
He was speaking of how often he had been to Walter Reed Hospital to see the wounded Iraq veterans, of how "many of them have lost limbs."
He said all this while demanding that the voters of Illinois reject a candidate who is not only a wounded Iraq veteran, but who lost two limbs there, Tammy Duckworth.
Support some of the wounded veterans. But bad-mouth the Democratic one.
And exploit all the veterans and all the still-serving personnel in a cheap and tawdry political trick to try to bury the truth: that John Kerry said the president had been stupid.
And to continue this slander as late as this morning -- as biased or gullible or lazy newscasters nodded in sleep-walking assent.
Sen. McCain became a front man in a collective lie to break sticks over the heads of Democrats -- one of them his friend, another his fellow veteran, legless, for whom he should weep and applaud or at minimum about whom he should stay quiet.
That was beneath the senator from Arizona.
And it was all because of an imaginary insult to the troops that his party cynically manufactured out of a desperation and a futility as deep as that of Congressman Brooks, when he went hunting for Sen. Sumner.
This is our beloved country now as you have redefined it, Mr. Bush.
Get a tortured Vietnam veteran to attack a decorated Vietnam veteran in defense of military personnel whom that decorated veteran did not insult.
Or, get your henchmen to take advantage of the evil lingering dregs of the fear of miscegenation in Tennessee, in your party's advertisements against Harold Ford.
Or, get the satellites who orbit around you, like Rush Limbaugh, to exploit the illness -- and the bipartisanship -- of Michael J. Fox. Yes, get someone to make fun of the cripple.
Oh, and sir, don't forget to drag your own wife into it.
"It's always easy," she said of Mr. Fox's commercials -- and she used this phrase twice -- "to manipulate people's feelings."
Where on earth might the first lady have gotten that idea, Mr. President?
From your endless manipulation of people's feelings about terrorism?
"However they put it," you said Monday of the Democrats, on the subject of Iraq, "their approach comes down to this: The terrorists win, and America loses."
No manipulation of feelings there.
No manipulation of the charlatans of your administration into the only truth-tellers.
No shocked outrage at the Kerry insult that wasn't; no subtle smile as the first lady silently sticks the knife in Michael J. Fox's back; no attempt on the campaign trail to bury the reality that you have already assured that the terrorists are winning.
Winning in Iraq, sir.
Winning in America, sir.
There we have chaos -- joint U.S.-Iraqi checkpoints at Sadr City, the base of the radical Shiite militias, and the Americans have been ordered out by the prime minister of Iraq … and our secretary of defense doesn't even know about it!
And here we have deliberate, systematic, institutionalized lying and smearing and terrorizing -- a code of deceit that somehow permits a president to say, "If you listen carefully for a Democrat plan for success, they don't have one."
Permits him to say this while his plan in Iraq has amounted to a twisted version of the advice once offered to Lyndon Johnson about his Iraq, called Vietnam.
Instead of "declare victory and get out" we now have "declare victory and stay indefinitely."
And also here -- we have institutionalized the terrorizing of the opposition.
True domestic terror:
Critics of your administration in the media receive letters filled with fake anthrax.
Braying newspapers applaud or laugh or reveal details the FBI wished kept quiet, and thus impede or ruin the investigation.
A series of reactionary columnists encourages treason charges against a newspaper that published "national security information" that was openly available on the Internet.
One radio critic receives a letter threatening the revelation of as much personal information about her as can be obtained and expressing the hope that someone will then shoot her with an AK-47 machine gun.
And finally, a critic of an incumbent Republican senator, a critic armed with nothing but words, is attacked by the senator's supporters and thrown to the floor in full view of television cameras as if someone really did want to re-enact the intent -- and the rage -- of the day Preston Brooks found Sen. Charles Sumner.
Of course, Mr. President, you did none of these things.
You instructed no one to mail the fake anthrax, nor undermine the FBI's case, nor call for the execution of the editors of the New York Times, nor threaten to assassinate Stephanie Miller, nor beat up a man yelling at Sen. George Allen, nor have the first lady knife Michael J. Fox, nor tell John McCain to lie about John Kerry.
No, you did not.
And the genius of the thing is the same as in King Henry's rhetorical question about Archbishop Thomas Becket: "Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?"
All you have to do, sir, is hand out enough new canes.
"Trump's pole is too big."
-KO, 11/1/06
Real classy Keith.
I thought I would get in on this thread early, since I wasn't responded to by radmod and factoryqueen on the other thread:
Since you seem to criticize the namecalling on this site, do you also criticize Mr. Olbermann's name calling??
I anxiously await your response.
Harold Ford Jr. is a minion of Mister Bush? Hilary Clinton is a minion of Mr.Bush?
(cue the Twilight Zone music)
Graphic on the Wing Nut...
"Assaulted by Allen Campaign"
Judge Olbermann finds the Allen Campaign GUILTY.
Ah,, a nice, long, special comment... KO will be all over the internets tomorrow with what the right cannot handle.. the pure, unfiltered truth. Keith is god,, all praise keith.
Alone in his never-finished, already decaying anchor desk, aloof, seldom visited, never photographed by the NY Post’s Page 6, Citizen Keith continued to direct his falling empire ... vainly attempting to sway through “Special Comment”, as he once did, the destinies of a left-wing moonbat nation that has ceased to listen to him ... ceased to trust him...
Why no mention of the comments made on Mr. Stark's website regarding his attempt only to cause a scene with Sen. Allen?
Also, funny how he talks about Sen. Allen's former wife disparaging him, instead of saying that, in fact, she was refuting the baseless accusations made by Stark.
You also have to love Keith's concern over how thick the glass was...and if poor Mr. Stark was going to get thrown through it.
Per Keith's "Special Comment":
Keith has been "too cordial" to the President.
Oh wow.....
Minion, n:
1. An obsequious follower or dependent; a sycophant.
2. A subordinate official, especially a servile one.
3. One who is highly esteemed or favored; a darling.
According to Professor Olbermann, Hillary Clinton and Harold Ford Jr. are Bush minions?
Twilight Zone Olbermann.
To stupid to know they are stupid. Yep.
Good news" Olbermann's Tuesday ratings were 855,000 - coming up!
More from Keith:
The President "deliberately twisted words to fit their political template"
Does anyone remember "it's unacceptable to think"???
Mr Bush, the insult is you !!
what a whacko
There he goes.....out where the buses don't run.
More from Keith:
"This President never apologizes"
pot...meet kettle....
Watching the latest "Special Comment"... all kidding aside, Keith is truly unhinged. Seriously. Koo-Koo bananas.
Caught KO briefly during his 'Special Comments' segment and all I needed to hear was "Mr. Bush" and back to CNN I went. Does anyone know if Keith refers to Bill Clinton as "Mr. Clinton"? I gonna assume no.
Senator McCain...the front man in a collective lie....Gospel of Olby.
1st lady sticks a knife in the back of Michael J Fox....
...his head is gonna explode
More from Keith:
"The terrorists are winning in America, Sir!!!"
Yeah boy...
"To stupid to know they are stupid. Yep."
Well, KO didn't call them "stupid". He called them "minions" or obsequious followers of Bush.
Who believes that Hillary Clinton slavishly follows what Bush tells her to do?
Absurdly silly.
And of course, the president sent the soap flakes. Yes, in Olbyworld. What the hell is this moron talking about?
*WhEw*
I feel like I need a bath...
Dude - who wants to watch Olbermann when we have Lebron James on ESPN?
The sacrifices you make are astounding!
Thank you Keith for standing up for America.
Law Student Steve: As unhinged as Rush Limbaugh, Jim Cramer, Nancy Grace, Glenn Beck, Conan O' Brien, FOX Friends', Neil Cavuto, Michael Savage, David Letterman, Ann Coulter,...
Keith's show ends...and the first words from Scarborough's show have the Wolffe Man, of all people, claiming that Kerry's words are GOOD for democrats.
What is this world coming to?
Dude - who wants to watch Olbermann when we have Lebron James on ESPN?
The sacrifices you make are astounding!
"Rush Limbaugh, Jim Cramer, Nancy Grace, Glenn Beck, Conan O' Brien, FOX Friends', Neil Cavuto, Michael Savage, David Letterman, Ann Coulter,..."
Which of those folks calls themselves "news anchors" who has "no political agenda"?
No, OWUB, as unhinged as Al Frankin, Randi Rhodes, Ed Shutlz, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, Mauren Dowd, I could go on...
Conan O'Brien and David Letterman? Are you kidding? Are you saying they're conservative?
You know, the best thing about watching one of Olbermann's "Special Comments" is thinking about the searing cognitive feedback that the stunted goons at Olbermannwatch are experiencing as they do the same. I bet it feels like getting stabbed in the gut.
Ohboy: No one specific --- but one thing for sure --- they never admit to being "entertainers, now do they ?
"What is this world coming to?"
It's senses, Mike; it's senses.
No, Sir... it feels like watching the Mad Hatter babble giberish. Up is down. Down is up. In Olbyword, we're through the looking glass people.
"What is this world coming to?"
It's senses, Mike; it's senses.
Law Student: It is when they shy away from politics is when you know something is up... up right...
"I bet it feels like getting stabbed in the gut"
Actually, it's the same feeling one gets when watching the seven clowns get out of the tiny car in a circus.
Amusing silliness.
I would like to talk, representing all those veterans, and say that several months ago in Detroit, we had an investigation at which over 150 honorably discharged and many very highly decorated veterans testified to war crimes committed in Southeast Asia, not isolated incidents but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command.
It is impossible to describe to you exactly what did happen in Detroit, the emotions in the room, the feelings of the men who were reliving their experiences in Vietnam, but they did. They relived the absolute horror of what this country, in a sense, made them do.
They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, tape wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the country side of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.
No, OWUB, as unhinged as Al Frankin, Randi Rhodes, Ed Shutlz, ABC...
=========================
That is funny... ABC organized a blackout against Air America... it had over 50 different business (sic) enterprieses within. SIC is for the fact that they can not be businesses if they want to opt out from a franchise ...
Ohboy,
Well, I've never come across a website dedicated to naysaying, slander, and abusive ridicule of clowns. You must have a shitty time at the circus.
...last post for the night (I'll waste HOURS responding to Olbyloons!)
In this latest "Short-bus Special Comment", Keith perfectly illustrates why this site exists- to point out the blatant hypocracy of Keith Olbermann.
He screams how the NY Post prints details of his alleged antrax attack- in direct violation of F.B.I. requests. Yet, he remains silent when the NY Times (routinely!) publishes national security secrets, including intelligence gathering methods and investigations.
Bottom line in Olbyword = Liberals good, Conservatives = evil, Hitler-like, puppy-kicking monsters.
We get it.
Goodnight.
"Well, I've never come across a website dedicated to naysaying, slander, and abusive ridicule of clowns."
I guess you're the expert on clowns here.
Congrats.
No surprise, then, that you're a fan of Mr. Olbermann.
Talk to a certain celebrity with Parkinsons' disease then you will know that it is not puppies that get kicked when they are down.
Steve: "Conservatives = evil, Hitler-like, puppy-kicking monsters." You need to change that to 'Neocons' - then you would be 100% correct.
There was never anything 'Conservative' about doing a pre-emptive invasion and occupation of a country that did not attack us, or really even threaten us in any credible way.
oooh - zing!
Did I hear Fineman say with a straight face that the Republicans are wearing out this Kerry story ...lol. Now that is funny. Krazy Keith wrote the book on wearing out story's!
Stark looked and sounded like a kook.
Keith olbermann appeared as if he was about to have a nervous breakdown. I thought he was going to go crazy and be sent to a mental Asylum.
To Mike and beefsteak,
There's nothing Liberal about support Islamic Fascists!
"To Mike and beefsteak,
There's nothing Liberal about support Islamic Fascists!"
Absolutely, I could not agree more.
I watched herr olbermann with the sound turned off.
He looked absolutely evil. He's scarier than anyone.
Did he forget his meds?
"Thank you Keith for standing up for America." - codas
Sounds more like "standing up TO America," in fulfillment of the leftist-socialist-internationalist agenda, if you ask me . . . and of course, the double-standard over Kerry's latest manifestation of his condescending contempt of our people in uniform (dating back to his slanderous 1971 Senate Foreign Relations Committee testimony) viz the media's reaction and spin on that vs., say, any "gaffe" from "Mister" Bush or George 'Macaca' Allen or anyone with an "R" next to his or her name, is nothing short of barf-inducing. If what Kerry said truly was a "joke," then pigs actually can fly.
I watched herr olbermann with the sound turned off.
He looked absolutely evil. He's scarier than anyone.
Did he forget his meds?
...okay, okay- ONE more post- just for you OWUB and Liberal Mike (not to be confused with Mike from Ohio)...
Liberal Mike- did you NOT read my answer to your ridiculous post? How many U.N. resolutions do you need before you actually enforce them? SEVENTEEN (17!)? You remember- that whole "rush to war" that took 12 YEARS... Sadam had to abide by the terms of the original Gulf War to continue to exist. He didn't. Sometimes, we bombed him (like Clinton did- was THAT okay? They didn't attack us or threaten us in any way... so was it okay when Clinton bombed him? Just asking). Finally, after SEVENTEEN (17!) U.N. resolutions; each one authorizing the use of force to remove him from power (and we see how well they worked), President Bush decided to use force to remove him from power.
OWUB- Michael J. Fox has admitted that when he testified before congress, he stopped taking his medication so that the effects of his disease were more visible, and garner sympathy. I have since seen him ACTING on shows such as Boston Legal... guess what, NO SHAKING. Now- to garner attention (and sympathy?) he's shaking on camera to attack a republican. When someone points this out, its "kicking him when he's down?"
I love how Liberals use "victims" to make their point... look, it's poor Michael J. Fox, its poor Cindy Sheehan, its poor Jersey Girls... they're victims- let's let them attack our political opponents but they BETTER DARE NOT TRY TO REFUTE WHAT THEY SAY!!!! For God sake- they're VICTIMS!!!! Don't kick them when they're down!
Now, goodnight. For real.
Red Wolf:
That is where your delusions are getting to you. I don't know a single liberal who has "supported Islamic Facists"! Hell, I'm not even a Liberal - or wasn't until this incredibly stupid war thing started. It's YOUR side that is creating more and more of them....kind of like a self fulfilling prophecy.
Yeah, Liberal Mike... OUR SIDE is creating "more and more" Islamic Facists. Because on September 10th, 2001- they were just peace loving, hand holding, flower picking, easy to get along with, regular folks.
Its our fault. Got it.
After naming Diebold the worst person in the world -Krazy said "i guess that learned um"
For supposedly being the "smartest guy in the room" or under a desk maybe its Krazy Keith thats Stupid. It kinda reminded me of when Jon Carry said "is this where i can get me a huntin license". Biggest Boobs of the world unite together.
"Did I hear Fineman say with a straight face that the Republicans are wearing out this Kerry story ...lol. Now that is funny. Krazy Keith wrote the book on wearing out story's!"
Like the Mark Foley story which Keith and his cohorts and counterparts at ABCBSNBCNN ad nauseam, as well as the Howard Dean-George Soros-ABC axis, likewise beat a la the proverbial dead horse throughout the last month, perhaps?
"Yes, get someone to make fun of the cripple."
Mmmm....Keith Olbermann uses the word, "cripple."
Pronunciation: 'krip-&l
Function: noun
sometimes offensive : a lame or partly disabled individual.
I don't know what to say! Are you positive KO really called Mr. Fox......a CRIPPLE, J$?
It stopped me dead in my tracks. What an arrogant, condescending, elitist wind-bag has Olbermann turned into?
Where does he get off calling a guy with Parkinsons Disease A CRIPPLE!!!!!
Can anyone answer me? Pleeeeeeeeease!
Stevey boy:
You need to study your recent history a little better. We RUSHED the damned war, even threw out the inspectors so we could get it on before it got too hot.
I challenge you again to show how they were a legitimate threat to us, or how this was a 'conservative' idea, and PUULLEESSE stop hiding behind enforcing UN Resolutions! 'UN' meant "United Nations", not United States. If we couldn't get the rest of the UN to go along with it, we had no business taking this dubious task on by ourselves.
"Its our fault. Got it."
Well...yeah. At least according to every federal intelligence agency of the United States, our foreign policy - specifically in Iraq - has fueled an extremist recruitment surge that has increase the number of Al Qeada members by 150% in the past three years.
Liberal Mike said: "We RUSHED the damned war, even threw out the inspectors so we could get it on before it got too hot."
Really? Really, Mike? WE threw out the inspectors? WE did that? And here, all this time, I thought it was SADAM who did that. Silly me. You know, the same Samdam who only let the inspectors inspect where and when he wanted them to.
"If we couldn't get the rest of the UN to go along with it, we had no business taking this dubious task on by ourselves." First of all, the UN was the international body that gave us resolution after resolution to Sadam- each one authorizing the use of force to remove him from power. And its the libs who love the UN, remember? The U.N. (like the libs) are SOOOOOO effective in dealing with murderous dictators. Why, if one commits genocide, they'll send a strongly worded letter to them!
Mike, you're a moron.
cee, you are being obtuse. Olbermann was not calling Fox a cripple, he was identifying Rush's behavior and motives as "making fun of the criple".
C'mon, you have know that you're totally full of shit on this one.
Oh, and uh... Liberal Mike- you didn't answer my question- was it okay when Clinton bombed Saddam in concurrence with the same UN resolutions? Or do you reserve your self-righteous condemnation for conservative presidents?
Sir Loin of Crap said: "has fueled an extremist recruitment surge that has increase the number of Al Qeada members by 150% in the past three years" Question for you: What "fueled" them before 9/11? What "fueled" them each and every time they attacked us under Clinton? Why - if their numbers are so high and they are so "fueled" haven't they attacked us since?
I breathlessly await your reply...
Steve:
We were attacked by 19 radicals and their leaders. The top 2 guys of this organization are still sitting fat and happy, laughing at us in fact, while we turned our attention to a nation that had nothing to do with it. Just imagine if we had actually turned even half the resources we squandered in Iraq to catching them?
Can't you see that we did EXACTLY what our enemy wanted us to do when we invaded Iraq? Saddam was their enemy too, and we eliminated him for them. Since when is doing what our enemy wants us to do good strategy?
Stevey:
So, when you can't debate with facts, you turn to insults!
You are the damned moron and your posts prove it. I told you that you need to study up on recent history. Yes Stevey, WE threw them out just before we invaded...again, so we could get the invasion going before it got too hot.
You, Sir idiot, are referring to Saddam having thrown them out a couple of years earlier under Clinton's watch. The inspectors had gone back in under US pressure and literally had the run of the place just before the invasion.
Weren't you paying attention during the run up to the war, or were you too young? I can assure that that I was paying attention, and a lot of what people believe, say, and report
is wrong.
Can't you see that we did EXACTLY what our enemy wanted us to do when we invaded Iraq? Saddam was their enemy too, and we eliminated him for them. Since when is doing what our enemy wants us to do good strategy?

Mike, I hate to say it and seem so negative, but you will eventualy see that "seeing logic" has no place with some of these people. They are convinced of their total rightness in every way and every day. No matter the circumstances. Good strategy makes no diference. There is only them and the olbyloons. That is anyone if knows how wrong they have been about everything.
krazy keith thinks that freedom of speech ends if you disagree with someone who lost their legs in a war. he thinks that if you do not vote for someone who has lost limbs in iraq you are unpatriotic. how dare you limit john McCain's freedom of speech sir.
Mike- I at least applaud you for (attempting) a coherent argument. There wasn't a single BUSH IS HITLER or NEOCON reference in your entire post. Good job.
That said, we were repeated attacked by Islamic Facists under Clinton, over and over again. Osama Bin Laden is on tape as saying- after Somalia- that the US Administration (aka Clinton) doesn't have the stomach to fight back.
Love him or hate him, Bush fought back. Now, its a shame that Al Qidea doesn't live in a country called Al Qideastan, and its a pitty that Saddam and his sadistic sons found the "Wonka" ticket of US military power by refusing to allow inspectors to do their jobs unfettered, but that's how its played out.
Since 9/11- the US homeland has not been attacked. For me, that's a great strategy.
Seriously- someone else chat with these guys- I've GOT to go study!
Goodnight.
Law Student,
What do you call it when one side in a global conflict, within a year and a half of having a demand made of them by an adversary, completely and explicitly satisfies this demand to the very letter? How would you succinctly label such an act?
And what do you call it when this party to the conflict simultaneously abandons the fight against the adversary that had posed the demand?

Steve (again - boy this is getting old):
As for you question about Clinton bombing Saddam. What was there to get upset about? He didn't invade and OCCUPY the place. Boy was that stupid! With bombing, you have something called an "exit strategy".
By the way student Steve, if you really are a law student, I suggest you go to your library and pull some of the newspapers from early 2003 and even late 2002. You might just modify some of your perceptions a little.
"A brief reminder, Mr. Bush: You are not the United States of America."
Well, if PRESIDENT Bush isn't the United States of America, then I guess I'm not either. Only the sacred and holy Mr. O is.
I've called my local NBC affiliate and have told them that I will no longer watch my local NBC news as long as Wannabee Murrow is on MSNBC.
Olbermann is the funniest thing on the tube. He puts Maher, Stewart, and Colbert to shame. Why is this so? Because Leftist dingbats are funny only when they are trying to be serious. When they are trying to be funny they are just lame.

The fact that the homeland has not been attacked since 911 is not an arguement! It's amazing so many people have accepted this as having any validity!
OK, please tell me when the last attack PRIOR to 911 occurred. I believe you will find it was about 8 long years (it's only been 5 1/2 years since 911). All other attacks occurred on foreign soil. They were trying to PROVOKE us. Afghanistan should have been enough of a challenge for us, now we have to worry about that war too because we are spread so thin.
I got news for you Ohboy:
My government is not just the President, and his men. My government includes ALL of the government, including the Democrats who are supposed to be part of the process but have been excluded by the Republicans as of late.

Mike, I suggest you do a little studying of your own. Any embassy of any country is by international law an extension of the country it represents. Within the confines of an embassy, the government of the nation representd is supreme.
A US naval vessel is also an extension of the country it defends. Remember Pearl Harbor. Not a state in 1941 but FDR and every other American knew that AMERICA had been attacked because it was a US naval base and US warships.
I have read on occasion that Khobar Towers could be considered an extension of our country.
So, I would state that this is the longest period that we have not been attacked since the early 90's.

The troops have access to the same information as those taking Sen. Kerry's side. So, all you Kerry defenders do believe that the troops are uneducated, thus cheering on Kerry for his unintended (Freudian slip) point. Concerning Michael J. Olby left his guts out there. You have to admire that.
Mike, removed from a country prior to the beginning of hostilities is what you meant. I thought you emphatically stated several times that the US threw them out.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't they international inspectors and removed by the UN?

OK Janet:
If you are going to stretch the definition of attack on US soil to Khobar Towers, then I would have to say we are now being attacked every single day in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Hawaii was also a US territory (as opposed to an embassy).
As you know that arguement is almost always used in reference to "US soil". Very few who accept that arguement would include Embassy attacks as "US soil". Your ARE stretching it a bit, you know.
I should have added Don Imus to the list of bad media personalities... He was way too rude to John Kerry!

What about the time Bill Clinton went to War with Iraq in 1998 by saying this:
"Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors."

What really got me about Keith's "Special Comment" was his bashing of John McCain. John McCain is supporting a candidate whose opponent happens to be disabled. Keith believes that John McCain shouldn't be doing that for some reason. Then there's Keith's hypocracy involving media leaks. Keith is okay with newspapers splashing national security secrets on there front page. But when a newspaper prints a story about Keith, it's "Special Comment" time.

You did or did not agree with Clinton's action in 1998 and you did or did not believe that Iraq had WMDs in 1998?
Explain how a 4 day bombing is really NOT a War.
If containment was working, why did Congress pass the Authorization to Use Force in 2002 and the UN unanimously pass RES 1441 warning Iraq that it was still not in compliance?
Once side note: France hadn't attacked us during WWII when we invaded Normandy to fight Germany...another country who had not attacked us.
Phil,
What's the occasion? Tonight, are you celebrating your first beer? Treason, my pitiable left wing looney, is about giving aid and comfort to the enemy in time of war. It's not about some liberalesque induced notion of standing up for what you believe to be right. Jane Fonda sitting on an NVA artillery piece was treasonous yet she was doing what she thought was right. Here's a tip. Consult your brain before putting your thoughts in words. Or someday someone may walk up to you and say, Phil, my man, you've just won a one way ticket to the local witless protection program.

John...E:
So whats your point. Kerry made a mistake, and frankly, should have kept his mouth shut. I happen to believe he never learned how to tell a joke. Some Dems have defended him, others have criticized him. So what - what's your point? Does a political party have to march in lock step to be legitimate?
The last time I checked, John Kerry wasn't on the ballot.
I don't know if I have ever heard the answer to why the majority of Dems supported the war in Iraq initially. What information did Pres. Bush have that the Intelligence committee did not? I can understand the argument that the war was poorly prosecuted, but what is the basis for the argument that we should not have ever attacked (not from those who were against it- like Pat Buchanon who would have made a really strong president- by the way)? Maybe that is why Hillary R. Clinton has avoided the issue.

Er, Phil, I was responding to Olberdope's point (actually his high-larious rant) that this is all being ginned up by Bush and his minions and that they are really stoooopid for thinking that what Kerry said is what he really meant.
My point is that Kerry did say something stupid and wrong and that more than us mouth-breathing evil rethuglicans think so..
Apparently, according to Phil, Olberfreak is allowed to spew and spin hundreds of words in defense of Kerry and here on Olbermann Watch we're not supposed to comment?
OK, whatever.
sharm:
Very good question and a very good post. Others on this site have labeled me a "Liberal", but I have a lot of respect and admiration for Patrick Buchanon. He is a true conservative in every sense of the word, and unlike most of today's conservatives, really seems to care about America and the middle class.
Why did many Dems support the war? This is a question that should be asked. I don't think Hillary or Kerry should ever be a front runner because of this very question.
I think I have an answer though: They were weak during a time of great fear and patriotic fever, and their judgments became clouded in an attempt to stay within the prevailing political atmosphere. I don't think this is a characteristic we want in a President.
Why arn't we looking more seriously at people like Senator Russ Feingold? He never wavered on this issue, and as I understand it, he even lectured the Senate by saying "you will rue the day that you voted to give this President the right to go to war".
I think one more thing should be said about that war vote. I think many in Congress didn't neessarily know we were going to war, no matter what. Some were voting yes with the assumption that invading would ONLY be done as a last resort. If it had been common knowledge that they were going in come hell or high water, I wonder if the vote would have been the same?
It was funny seeing Keith Olbermann shake and appear on the verge of a nervous breakdown!
Mike,
Pat Buchanan is a racist bigot Nazi.
Mike, your not agreeing with a law doesn't alter its pertinence to this discussion. An embassy is de facto a sovereign state within a state. I considered the embassy attacks a direct attack on the US then and I still do.
A US naval vessel is in the same category. I believed it when it happened and I still believe it now.
As to the Khobar Towers, I said I have heard it ARGUED on OCCASION that those attacks could also be considered in the same light.
I made the point re Hawaii to illustrate that your only considering the two attacks on the WTC Towers as an attack on the US is too narrow. Technically, there is a difference btween the US and US territories. For example, would you consider an attack on a Samoan office building an attack on the US, or not? Guam? Puerto Rico? I would.
Your equating fighting in a war zone with attacks on US soil and US civilians is a bit of a stretch, don't you think. This is war. Our troops know the danger and are acquiting themselves well. That is why I support the War on Terror and the ongoing battles in Iraq and Afghanistan.
All the other attacks on us were sneak attacks on a nation that didn't know it was at war. Since 9/11 the rules have changed.
If the Islmofascists launched a successful attack against another US embassy, our five year respite would be over.

It is indeed amazing how inarticulate and mean spirited conservative bloggers are. Most of the conservative blogs I have read are poorly written with disgraceful grammer and sentences. These blogs simply reflect the fact that most of the writers and commentatators are poorly read and do not think for themselves. I doubt most understand what Keith Olbermann is talking about or understand what Conservatism is about.
For any sane person (Republican or Democrat) to defend an incompetent, intellectually bankrupt presidency on the basis of maintaining conservative values is repugnant. To send husbands, brothers, sons, and daughters to fight a dishonest war, defend it as fighting for freedom, and sell the whole idea to gullible conservatives is basically dishonest, whichever way you look at it.

Drudge gives NO information about the photo (what branch are these guys? what division? what city are they in?)
I'm not saying they're NOT in Iraq, but WHO exactly is saying they ARE?
If I were going to show this photo, I'd sure as hell need more information than what we have so far, but I guess Marky Dollar has no problem with irresponsible journalism if it were to advance his side of the story.
Keith was my high school classmate. Let's just say that those of us who knew him when he was doing massive amounts of acid and physically assaulting gilrs from the Masters Academy, that nothing Keith does now suprises us. People might also be interested to know that Keith was recently denied a seat on his high school board of trustees because a lot of people who know him best are squeamish about his propensity for soliciting young girls. I give Keith a year before he finally takes the fall on a stat rape charge.

Keith is getting more unhinged every day. It is so funny to watch! I almost expected to see a spring or gear pop out of his forehead. He is the King of Comedy.

First of all before you get too full of yourself (a la John Kerry), please look back at the history of some of the liberal posters at this site...for one, you can pretty much count on Loin-y boy to use his favorite perjoitive "bumblefuck" much less any other curse words
Secondly, your side of the aisle seems to think that any republican is consevative/facist/neocon without considering any other position along the spectrum, so some of us don't care how you define conservativism.
Finally, I feel it is completely intellectually dishonest of you to think that anyone who favors a republican line of thought must therefore be poorly read and unable to make up his or her own mind and therefore is some sort of Karl Rove-ian robot.
The only person in your list who is truly a newsman is Chris Wallace. The others you mention are merely political pundits, this includes your hero KO...hoever, all but KO admit they have anagenda (thus the pundit label)...please show in any way shape or form that KO is a newsman and not stooge for the Liberal dems
As the first person to bring up the double standard with Franklin and Allen's people..it still amazes me how KO can sit there and let this guy go on about how wrong it was to stop his heckling but not to say anything when Al did it ..but then this is KO and being a big hypocrite comes easy for him..just like bashing Bush for the Kerry remarks while ignoring all the Dems who called on Kerry to say he was sorry to the troops.
But going after McCain and Ms Bush thats really going off the deep end...afterall KO dose know that McCain is also disabled due to the real torture he faced as a pow?..and if anyone else used the word crippled in this pc age they would be racked over the coals..of course this is the same guy that used a nazi salute and called a Jew a monkey and hasn't been called on it by MSNBC so I guess thats ok.
cox&balls-
this photo has been on most major media outlets...the first place i saw it was CNN...but your right, cnn is a bastion of right wing hatchet men so it must be fake
Did I say it was a fake? No.
Can you prove to me that its not? No.
I am here to once again give my thanks for this site. Tonight my Hero Keith Olbermann, once again slammed the cowards who never took up arms to defend their country like America's finest are doing in Iraq as we read and write here. The cowards that litter the Republican crime machine could give a shit about our soldiers or their families.
This site has, all be it small, has contributed to the audience of Keith Olbermann being even larger than it already is.
Keep up the good work here. Keith rules and this site does a great job of bringing more and more viewers to his show to share with Keith the outrage we all feel for the Bush/Republican crime machine's actions in sending more than 2000 of America's finest to their death for control of a sovereign nation's oil supply. And then exploiting them in desperate attempts to hold onto their dwindling political and criminal power.
Our nation has never been hated more around the world at any point in time before now. Bush and the pin heads that blindly support him are traitors to this nation. They have no respect for democracy and the freedom of the press that democracy requires to function. Fox News is the envy of any communist media outlets in China or N.Korea. The pin heads that respect cowards like Hannity and Rush Lipbaulm can squirm in their seats as they listen to a real man slam the Republican crime machine the way Mr. Olbermann did tonight.
Feeling full of pride for having Keith on my side.
Good luck and good night!
Coward Watch says "Our nation has never been hated more around the world at any point in time before now." BS!
Please name those countries who used to love us before but hate us now. I say there aren't any.
For a guy to claim he is the modern incarnation not only of ER Murrow but now Thomas Beckett is just downright sad.

Now go away in shame? OhBoy got the quote entirely wrong, gave the wrong interpretation, and cited the wrong speech (a State of the Union being far more impressive than a graduation(?) speech). (BTW his later links were to the same speech you had and one unreferenced link which I suspect was an interpretation and not a quote)
Clinton did not say ""You cannot say you love your country but hate your government." That is entirely different from "there is nothing patriotic about ... pretending that you love your country but despise your government."
Can you not see the difference? Clinton did not say that loving your country and hating a particular administration are opposites. If you had bothered to read the whole thing you would see that he was talking about the American Republican form of government, not 'a' particular administration. The despise your government line referred to the earlier "the the Bill of Rights, the separation of powers, access to the courts, the right to take your case to the country through the media, and the right to vote people in or out of office on a regular basis."
The speech was in reference to the uber-right Christian conservative nutcases (OKC bombers) who despise the government that has slowly changed over the last 200+ years. You know the secession guys who spout "you'll take my guns away over my dead body," and "praise the lord and pass the ammunition."
Now "just the truth", go away in shame.
How much of a simpleton do you have to be know that all the Dems who asked Kerry to apologize did so to end the despicable low life exploitation of this event by Bush et all. They all know Kerry clearly meant to slam Bush instead of the thousands of troops Kerry has tirelessly worked to protect from the Republican crime machine. The delusional spin you pin heads put on this is an easy shoot down. You need to listen to Kerry and do your home work. No Dem thinks Kerry was dissing the troops instead of slamming the clown you call your president. Keep trying you make me laugh. This is backfiring and will hurt Republican scum bags that have jumped on this no-brainer band wagon.
November 7th is coming, you best get running.
Hail Keith, he is my Hero!

This is deep and so insightful, you are good. Perhaps you can demonstrate where anything Keith said is not inline with exactly what the majority of this nation feels about the Republican crime machine.
Pathetic!
Keith rules, fools drool!
With all the Dems like Hillary and Harold Ford and Murtha agreeing with us maybe we Republicans should rethink our position on the Kerry "stupid people get sent to Iraq" deal.
Janet:
Will you allow me to commend you? Yours is the best defense of the war supporter's position I have seen on this site, although I strongly disagree that attacking Iraq made any sense at all. You also articulated a defense of the "we haven't been attacked in 5 years" position better than I have heard anywhere. I will have to think about that one.
I would like to add that after 911, no matter who was in charge, security and awareness would have been raised to a level that made it far more difficult for the radicals to do something that "big" again. For arguements sake, lets assume the "fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here" position actually does have some merit.....did that really merit us attacking a country that did not attack us just to create a closer target? And is it fair to expect our troops to assume ALL of the risk indefinitely regarding Islamic Radicals?
When all is said and done, the problem I have with most liberals is that even if their own mother's lives were on the line, they wouldn't fight to defend this country. They're unpatriotic, America-hating cowards who for some sick, perverted reason want the U.S. to lose the war on terror. Duty. Honor. Country. These are words to live by. Words the democratic party no longer knows the meaning of.
"Please name those countries who used to love us before but hate us now. I say there aren't any. "
Another delusion comment from a know nothing muncher in the peanut gallery.
Before Bush, Egypt had a growing western, and yes even American tourist industry. Not anymore. You want to be a tourist there or Morocco, how about Beirut? These and many other places in the middle east were growing American tourist destination up until Bush and his criminal string pullers took over.
As soon as Bush began his saber rattling with the fake WMD garbage all of Europe was saying Bush was full of shit and demanding their government not join the "coalition" to go after Sadam. The day Bush took office our nations reputation began the down hill slide we are sailing on today. It is common for Americans traveling abroad to lie and say they are Canadians so as to avoid hostilities. Common practice and well known.
Now lets take into consideration the daily news in every nation on this planet with the exception of our Big Brother corporate owned media that never shows mothers and fathers and children crying over blood covered bodies in blood lying in pools of blood in the streets of Iraq. Does your pin head brain think this is over looked by more than a billion Muslims that in the past feared the islamists but now better understand their rage. You have a clue what the media abroad shows daily of this debacle? Any at all?
You are an a--hole to be so insensitive to the horror and suffering of the survivors of the more than a hundred thousand dead Iraqi's at the hands of an American policy to go in and destabilize a nation that never attacked us.
You are an a--hole and people like you are why more foreigners hate more than our government but increasingly hate us. You and your pin head minions are true a--holes.
Please name those countries who used to love us before but hate us now. I say there aren't any.

Oh, I don't know, France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, the entire Middle East, Russia ...
"Three years and two wars later, attitudes toward America have hardened still further. A worldwide poll taken last March found that the United States' favorability ratings have fallen to critical levels, dropping precipitously in most West European countries and to 5 percent in Jordan."
http://www.cfr.org/publication/7559/antiantiamericans.html
Now, of course, I cited a source, but really I shouldn't have had to - do you really believe that we are not much more hated under Bush than before Bush? Indeed, I remember that many Europeans loved America enough beforehand that they wanted Clinton to run for SecGen of the UN because he was so very, very popular.
Bill Force, you are too cruel. Your accurate description of the left will soon be a "hate crime" if Nancy Pelosi becomes speaker of the house. God forbid!
I had better vote twice this year.
And ...
"Jeff Laurenti at the Century Foundation. Senator, public opinion polling in dozens of countries around the world has shown a startling collapse of support and sympathy for the United States in the past five years. I mean, in Europe, the United States is rated equal with North Korea as the most dangerous country in the world for global peace and security. In the Muslim world, we range from a high 22 percent favorability in Morocco to 7 percent in Jordan."
http://www.cfr.org/publication/9390/real_security_in_a_post911_world.html
"When all is said and done, the problem I have with most liberals is that even if their own mother's lives were on the line, they wouldn't fight to defend this country. What a crock of shit. A coward is one who buckles out of fear. Bush and the Republican crime machine manufactured the excuse to go into Iraq and only a Rush Lipbaulm fool would fail to see this.
That "duty" to country if you had a clue of your nations history and what it was founded on was to never let your government control you but a true American controls his government. Are you trying to tell me that you are anything but a coward for sucking up the garbage Bush and Rove spoon feed you through that fat disgusting pig Rush Lipbaulm and the biggest pussy on TV, Hannity about "be afraid be very afraid" mantra of the Republican party. Who do you think this coward crap is aimed at? Liberals? I think not. It is aimed at cowards like you. This is propaganda for cowards not for real men who despise a government that sends America's finest into battle for reasons that are pure bull shit lies. You have a clue how many Republican congressman are going to loose their seats to Veterans of the Gulf and Iraq war? Any clue at all? You are coward with no clue what it means to fight for what your for fathers gave their lives for. Uneducated hillbillies are the easiest fools to shoot down. Try again, your a true traitor to your country and the men who where the uniform. Coward!
Thanks, Radmod.
The future Islamic Republic Of France, where the intifada continues each and every day, with a couple hundred or so torched. The French Press can only refer to the rioters as "miscreants". In the Holland the director Van Gogh was murdered by a "guess who"? The native people of all the northern european countries you mentioned are leftist dingbats(much like yourself), watching helplessly as they are taken over by the Islamics. Russia was never our friend. If you think Putin is into the democracy thing then you need to get a clue. People who hate the USA are either dingbats or the enemy.

So let's get this strait. Nations that have Muslims committing crimes in their nation, despicable crimes, do hate us more. What you are saying means what? That you are admitting that America is more hated but it doesn't matter because they have Muslims committing crimes in their nations? What the hell kind of garbage is this? Can't any of you pin heads ever make a lick of sense? Answer, of course not, anyone educated in the Limbaugh/Hannity school for cowards via the mantra "be afraid, be very afraid" have no ability to argue shit against hard reality.
keep trying,
Cowards!
Cranky coward,
I can't start to understand why you hate America.
Likewise, when John Kerry ran for President, I didn't think his sick, perverted vision for America would sell. His self inflicted wounds that won him purple hearts and an early out of country after four months were ticking time bombs that Paul Hoffman and the other Swifties exposed to all of America. He was and is unfit for command.
Now Kerry's devotion to the extremist left looney wing of the democratic party, and his hate for George Bush and the rest of us with values based on duty, honor and country are likely to sink Democratic hopes of a significant election victory. Rove and Bush are too smart for you. Their belief in the future of a strong vibrant America is too much for you dark-siders too accept.
My suggestion: forget politics, invest all your money in AAPL. And discover what it means to live the American dream.
Time is running out tonight. So if anymore of you pin heads want stick your neck out now is the time. I gotta get to bed. I'm old and broken and need my beauty sleep.
Keith Kicked ass tonight and all the celebrating has tuckered me out.
I've gotta plow the back 40 in the morning.
"self inflicted wounds that won him purple hearts"
Nice try. You want to tell me about hating America then tell me about 2000 plus dead of America's finest sent into a war under a lie by a man who was AOL from the champaign reserves. Then tell me about Cheney's many deferments and the long list of Republican leaders like Hastert all failed to serve their nation yet think nothing of sending our countries finest men and woman into battle on the cheap so they could give tax breaks to richest families in America. Your garbage Rove created lies about "self inflicted wounds" demonstrates that you are nothing but a coward and have no respect for the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States military. You are a discrace to the country and the flag. Typical Coward!
Cranky,
You are right. You need a good night's sleep. Maybe when you wake up in the morning you'll appreciate what a great country we live in. And the wonder of being able to breathe free air. Kerry accused our guys of war crimes when they were POW's in Hanoi. No one will ever forgive him for that. Just ask John McCain. Sleep tight.
Good Night
It's really sad to see what's happened to MSNBC over the past few months. I watched that channel all the time. Now it's like watching a train wreck. Not only have they thrown away any attempt at being nonpartisan, but they've gone so far to the left that the two main shows (Hardball and Countdown) only appeal to the extreme liberal lunatic fringe.
"If you were alive through the sixties and were surounded by Vietnam vets in your daily life like I was then you would know how rediculous your Rove created perspective on Kerry is. The man is a hero to far more people than any top Republican leader except for McCain who I will vote for. McCain is Kerry true friend and this will show in the up coming years. You have a narrow understanding of history. Go back to school.
Now it is good night. You didn't really think I was going to give you the last word did you?
Don't forget to set your alarm.
Duty. Honor. Country. These are words to live by. Words the democratic party no longer knows the meaning of.

I justed wanted to know how long have you been home from Iraq? Please share some of your experience with us. Teach the world about duty and honor. Start right here with your war experience.
All the way from Australia...
Thank God for K.O. he's a genius, erudite, plain speaking and he gets it right. He's not bad on the eyes, either.
It's going to be a pleasure next week hearing name after name of repelicans that bit the dust. And there will be many true conservatives who will be rejoicing along with me. And Keith of course.
I was a lousy soldier. Hardly could get my m-14 together without help.
Now I'm a Republican operative. Under the radar internet stuff.
Worked to help Swifties in last campaign. And did some anti Kerry stuff with Michael Connelly.
This campaign, nobody's asked me to do anything so I've been played lots of golf.
If you want to know about DH and C, ask a hero. I'm just a writer.
You instructed no one to mail the fake anthrax, nor undermine the FBI's case
******************************
But KO you joked about O'Reilly being warned by the same FBI that he and other FOX people where on a terrorist hit list.
, nor call for the execution of the editors of the New York Times, nor threaten to assassinate Stephanie Miller,
************************
But KO you had no problem with Air America making jokes about killing Bush nor where you upset about a movie showing the killing of Bush.
nor beat up a man yelling at Sen. George Allen,
************************************************
But KO you had no problem with Al Fraklin attacking an heckler at a Howard Dean event.
nor have the first lady knife Michael J. Fox
**********************************************
But KO you failed to mention that Fox has admitted to using his illness to try to affect debate and that he didn't even read the plan he's supporting and doesn't know anything about the cloning part of the plan..in short he was being used.
nor tell John McCain to lie about John Kerry.
******************************************
But KO you fail to mention all the Dems like Hillary who have also called on Kerry to apologize ..are they lying too?
So spare us your fake outrage KO.
Keith continues to provide a great service to America. Keep up the good work Keith. The election will bring us closer to true democracy. The end of the long Republican dominance of this great country will be a welcome relief from a corrupted and self serving policy.
Mike, thanks for the response. Re our not being justified in invading Iraq I think you should go back at least fifteen years and at least consider the following:
1. Technically we signed a cease fire with Iraq in 1991. Hostilities never really ceased because from day one Iraq continually violated the terms, such as using radar on our planes enforcing the no fly zone. Many Iraqi's were killed when our fighters took the radar stations out.
2. You can go back to the mid nineties and up to January 2001 and find numerous remarks by Clinton, Gore, high ranking cabinet officers and both dem and repub senators saying the exact same things about Iraq that Bush et al and senators from both sides of the aisle said post 9/11. It was a continuous unbroken tenet of both administrations and both sides of the congressional divide.
3. Many foreign governments were making similar statements during that time.
4. Most foreign intelligence agencies, including mid east countries and the Israelis, all had essentially identical positions: that Iraq was actively pursuing nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. And they were convinced Saddam was maybe as little as ten years or less from success.
5. This invasion was backed up with multiple U. N. resolutions.
6. The U. S. congress authorized the invasion based on the very same evidence for the leaders (both majority and minority) of both houses, members of the intelligence committees that the administration had.
Although I am certain that the international intelligence community overestimated the threat, much of it was correct. We know Saddam not only had chemical weapons, he used them on the Kurds in the north. It is a theory of mine that due to the long buildup to the invasion Saddam had time to hide some of what he did have.
I suuported and still support the Battle of Iraq because Iraq was involved with terrorist training and support. Please notice, just as every administration official I ever heard address this, I did not say was actively connected with 9/11. And what the terrorist need more than anything else is sovereign states to protect, conceal and support them. I compare it to political money. It is fungible.
And, the most important reason I support the Battle in Iraq and BELIEVE in it with all my heart and soul, is that Iraq is the militarily stategic country in the mid east. It is the key (think Poland between Germany and Russia) the stability of Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Kuwait. To say nothing of Israel. Leave a power vacuum in Iraq and Iran has free rein to the major oil reseves of the world. And once it is nuclear capable, that is truly a frightening scenario.
And please don't counter with that worn out canard that Bush is a war criminal because he wanted Iraqi oil so he and his friends can get rich by stealing Iraqi oil. They could have gotten rich a lot easier by joining in the U. N. oil for food fraud.
And I also am convinced that eventually we would have faced the situation re Iran being nuclear and over running the area if we had not acted preemptively. And how much worse off we would be. The only country we would have strategically would be Kuwait, a country the size of New Jersey perched on the edge of the Arabian Peninsular. That's not a war I would want to fight if we can avoid it.
Do I have disagreements with the administration with some of their tactics. I sure do. We are facing an enemy just as barbaric, and maybe even more so, as we faced in WW II. And developing the right tactics is a lot harder because of the amorphous nature of the enemy.
But I am convinced that if the John Kerrys, Charlie Rangels, Harry Reids and Nancy Pelosis of this world were in charge that that is exactly what would happen to us.
I look forward to your reply.
Janet Hawkins

Thanks Hackley Pete for your background on Krazy Keith. Why am I not surprised he spent a lot of time ingesting drugs as a youth? It explains oh so very much about him.
By the way, wonder what the Olybloons who believe he actually gives a damn about the bile he's spewing would say if they knew within seconds of his rant ending last night he was bidding on Ebay?
I’m no far right wing nut job, in fact I’ve been a Democrat most of my life. This Olbermann guy is way out there. He shows allot of the characteristics of a speed-head. He is paranoid, sees a conspiracy at every turn and seems to have a distorted view of the world.
To show you how much our world has changed. A guy like Obly saying what he’s saying would have been put in a straightjacket and be going on a little vacation right about now. Instead he gets his own T.V. show.
PS. He had himself pretty worked up towards the end of his “speech”. You know is distorted speech about distortions!
Who said this: "Well, it's pretty standard fare in political discourse. You misconstrue what somebody said. You isolate a statement, you lend your interpretation to it and then feign moral outrage." in reference to the Kerry statement a couple of days ago?
Give up? Republican Dick Armey...
Whining neocons are funny to watch...especially when America isn't buying the fertilizer that they are selling...
Isn't General Electric (parent company of NBC) partially responsible for Countdown and Uberloon's nightly tirades? Evidently, GE shareholders approve of Keith's vile comments.
Boycotting GE and all it's subsidiaries until Countdown is cancelled or Keith is terminated is a good way to send the signal to GE in terms ($$$) they can understand.
The writing style of "coward watch" is similar to that Colorado Bob guy who doesn't even allow dissenting views on his site.
Did Olberdouche pop cialis instead of prozac last night? He looked and sounded demented.
Did Olberdouche pop cialis instead of prozac last night? He looked and sounded demented.
Hackley Pete: Do you have stories of any specific incidents regarding girls and Olbermann while in school? It certainly does shed light on what he likes to call his long string of "unfortunate incidents" with women.
Olbermann's words (you really cannot argue with them):
"...So now John Kerry has apologized to the troops; apologized for the Republicans' deliberate distortions.
Thus the President will now begin the apologies he owes our troops, right?
This President must apologize to the troops — for having suggested, six weeks ago, that the chaos in Iraq, the death and the carnage, the slaughtered Iraqi civilians and the dead American service personnel, will, to history, quote "look like just a comma."
This President must apologize to the troops — because the intelligence he claims led us into Iraq proved to be undeniably and irredeemably wrong.
This President must apologize to the troops — for having laughed about the failure of that intelligence, at a banquet, while our troops were in harm's way.
This President must apologize to the troops — because the streets of Iraq were not strewn with flowers and its residents did not greet them as liberators.
This President must apologize to the troops — because his administration ran out of "plan" after barely two months.
This President must apologize to the troops — for getting 2,815 of them killed.
This President must apologize to the troops — for getting this country into a war without a clue.
And Mr. Bush owes us an apology… for this destructive and omnivorous presidency.
—
We will not receive them, of course..."
ratboy-
"Olbermann's words (you really cannot argue with them)"
you are not serious right?
once again your self description of blind fits perfectly
from Kerry's site:
"I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended."
---
OMG...what a truly heartfelt apology ...I regret that you people heard what I was saying to a bunch of students who agree with me that if your too stupid for school you end up in the military...I regret we had to come up with that "you people misinterpreted me" defense, then the I botched the line, then I botched the line but it was a joke...but I will not apololgize but now I am apologizing kind of...IF you were offended, but you shouldn't have been because i don't mean the things I say unless I do plus, why would you be offended, you're too stupid to comprehend me...which is probably why you elected the idiot who did better than me at my own school, but I call him an idiot anyway ...am i still rambling in my monotone so no one will be able to understand me like that hypnotoad on futurama....
Don't forget this pearl of wisdom from the Kerry the lefty war hero when he went on Face the Nation Sunday, December 4, 2005. "And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the--of--the historical customs,
religious customs." If you can't find the clip online look at every terrorist propoganda website for it. They reprinted it often to show how bad us amercians are. Shut up lefties.
from Kerry's site:
"I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended."
I don't see what your problem is. It was obvious he was talking about Bush. People used a misstatement on his part to make it seem he was insulting the troops. He apoligized if they took offence. What do you want?
Two days later- loser... he is a pompous ass and you look even dumber for defending his words.
Loser is a word that will be spread around pretty nicely in less than a week.
Take the senate and you can gloat... but odds are your won't so you'll have to deal with half your predictions coming true. Don't forget 2004 when you spent two weeks gloating and then the next two weeks in your bed mumbling - "what happened?"
LawStudent:
You need to get out more often. A short list of Liberals who have directly supported Islamofascism include Joseph Biden, Keith Ellison and the good folks at CAIR amongst many others. For the list of those who indirectly support Islamofascism, just look at those who voted against the fence...
"What happened?" is that a large portion of the American public lost their senses after 911. Fear can do that. They are awake to the reality of what has been going on for the last 5 years. A political party has manipulated it's own agenda into the mainstream by using fear and has gotten fat in the process. Thankfully their are enough conservatives out there who are pushing for a cleansing of the horible poor excuse for leadership in this country. Yes, I said conservatives. It is not just liberals who smell the stench, although they smelled first.
connor,
I note that you didn't try to refute anything that I posted...
Neocons talking a good fight, but running at the same time...
Olbrmann's nightly rants and "special comment" have become more disjointed and child like with each airing. His sophomoric special comments have the intellectual and analytical weight of a C+ high school student's oral report. MSNBC, Dan Abrams and Olbermann have clearly decided that crossing the line of news and news commentary and jumping into the abyss of pure tabloid and make believe commentary is the future of MSNBC however short lived it may be.
186,
So disjointed and child-like that you neocons can do nothing but offer ad hominems in reply...
If Olbermann is wrong, prove it...refute what he says...
blind rat- maybe you should start reading the pages and pages of refuting that is done after every show. Olby doesn not tell the truth- he lies every show.
How about, if Olbermann is right he provide a few fact to his content-free rants...
So disjointed and child-like that you neocons can do nothing but offer ad hominems in reply...
If Olbermann is wrong, prove it...refute what he says...

They can't, and they won't. Discredit the message by discrediting the messager is all they know how to do. That's why they use terms like Olbyloon and Olbytard. They need to believe that people who are not with them are mental. It is the last wall of defence for them.
John e,
I posted a large part of one of Olbermann's recent monologues above. That would be a good place to start...
"This president must apologize to the troops because the streets of Iraq were not strewn with flowers and its residents did not greet them as liberators." Nice short term memory. Initially the troops were heralded. Do you losers live in a vacuum.
"Critics of your administration in the media receive letters filled with fake anthrax." And non critics too. SLANT
Heralded?
They did drum up enough support to fill a single city block and managed to keep MOST of the news footage from showing the lack of interest...
Certainly, the Iraqis want us out now. I wonder why...
Heralded?

"Drummed up".? another conspiracy - huh blindrat? Do you read 1984 every night before you lay on your futon alone.
Ad hominems = losing argument...
Out of ammo already, son? You do know that the majority of Iraqis want us out of Iraq, don't you? You do know that the insurgency gets stronger all of the time. That doesn't seem like a welcome...
Only Bush could've turned a nation that had to suffer under Saddam against the people that liberated them from the dictator...
Maybe this story isn't over. I've been thoroughly persuaded by John Derbyshire and Christopher Hitchens that John Kerry's words were indeed a botched joke. The clincher for me was the actual prepared text, which I confess I hadn't seen till I watched the Daily Show (where I tend to get the news these days) last night. The actual text was that if you didn't work hard, "you end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq. Just ask President Bush."
Now, I may be typical of many people's real-time response to this piece of "news." When I first heard the remarks, I cringed and was appalled. When I saw the context, I could see what Kerry might have meant, but also saw the need for him to apologize for the way his spoken remarks could have plausibly been misinterpreted. I stand by that. But now I also see the prepared remarks in black and white, I have a third wave of sentiment. I agree with Jay Nordlinger here:
When you see Kerry's prepared text — I guess you would have to accept it as authentic — you can see precisely what Kerry meant: Bush is stupid, he has always been a slacker, that left him unprepared to lead in Iraq, blah, blah, blah.
So the debate over what Kerry actually meant is now over.
Now what do I next remember? I remember that the president vehemently went after Kerry, as did McCain. Now, when a president decides to do such a thing, his staff have examined the upsides and downsides every which way. They are paid to know any possible backfire for the remarks. And Rove is very smart. So this much I now know: knowing full well that he was deeply distorting Kerry's meaning, the president used the quote full-bore to impugn Kerry's commitment to the troops - and to help turn the base against the Democrats.
I know it's politics. I'm not naive. But it's also revealing about someone's character that he could authorize and exploit such a thing. Most fair-minded people will have to concede that, in retrospect, this was a very, very, very low blow. It hadn't sunk in for me till last night how low. In retrospect, this incident says much more about Bush than about Kerry. I'll bet I'm not the only one mulling that over this morning.
Fine, ratboy, I will do what you never do and refute
Olbermann's words (you really cannot argue with them) [BS, WELL , TECHNICALLLY YOOOUUUU CAN'T, WE CAN]:
"...So now John Kerry has apologized to the troops;[IF you were offended...why wouldn't they have been after being directly called uneducated] apologized for the Republicans' deliberate distortions.[Yeah, all they had to do was use the exact quote...how distorted can you get]
Thus the President will now begin the apologies he owes our troops, right?
This President must apologize to the troops — for having suggested, six weeks ago, that the chaos in Iraq, the death and the carnage, the slaughtered Iraqi civilians and the dead American service personnel, will, to history, quote "look like just a comma." [Not my choice of words, but I see no need to apologize for this comment]
This President must apologize to the troops — because the intelligence he claims led us into Iraq proved to be undeniably and irredeemably wrong.[so your saying Bush has to apologize for all the intelligence gathered by various agencies throughout the world including your infallible BJ CLinton that all pointed to weapons of mass destruction, only minor items of which have been recovered, but still no trace of their destruction exists although they wee seem by UN weapons inspectors...sorry no again]
This President must apologize to the troops — for having laughed about the failure of that intelligence, at a banquet, while our troops were in harm's way. [bush has to apologize? you guys and your pundits have made US intelligence the butt of innumerable jokes, but Bush has to apologize for 1? sorry, no]
This President must apologize to the troops — because the streets of Iraq were not strewn with flowers and its residents did not greet them as liberators. [excuse me?...wtf?...give me a frakking break...no, ALL the people of Iraq did not...this was never promised nor guaranteed, and many Iraqis HAVE been grateful and expressed it...ask the troops who have been there who have been repeatedly "great thanksed", but the MSM does not want to report on those items...how does it help their agenda for electing Libs and it would be too boring to report how soldiers helped build a school, repair a hospital, etc---once again, sorry, no]
This President must apologize to the troops — because his administration ran out of "plan" after barely two months.[you can prove this of course, right?]
This President must apologize to the troops — for getting 2,815 of them killed.[the same way kennedy and johnson apologized for all the vietnam war dead? bush has personally and privately declared his sympathies for most families losses to date]
This President must apologize to the troops — for getting this country into a war without a clue.[once again, pure hyperbole, not to mention a contradiction unto itself...did't you just say he had a plan for at least 2 months...sorry, no again]
And Mr. Bush owes us an apology… for this destructive and omnivorous presidency.
[not all people view his presidency as destructive and omnivorous as a description for a presidency? I think ko is strictly trying to sound high minded by using big words...and don't go into the whole metaphor thing, because hey we haven't eaten Canada, Mexico, United Islamic France, Russia, China, blah blah blah...sorry once again no]
—
We will not receive them, of course..."
[because they are not necessary based on your accusations]

how about KO apologizing to Laura Bush? please show me where she knifed Fox? talk about taking a statement and misrepresenting it! "It's always easy to manipulate people's feelings." is a true statement and KO tries to do it all the time by acting all high and mighty during his special-ed comments by shouting SIR, acting like he is talking directly to the president, and especially the meaningful obligatory turns to Camera 3 at the precisely scripted moments...or has scary uncle KO figured out it was here who sent him the free sample of Borax?
Ad hominems = losing argument...

CONGARTULATIONS BLINDRAT! You finally admit that KO has all kinds of losing arguments! (since most of his attacks are ad hominems that is) Next thing you know, you'll be voting for moderate democrats that are part of the evil DLC founded by Karl Rove!
"This President must apologize to the troops — because the intelligence he claims led us into Iraq proved to be undeniably and irredeemably wrong.[so your saying Bush has to apologize for all the intelligence gathered by various agencies throughout the world including your infallible BJ CLinton that all pointed to weapons of mass destruction, only minor items of which have been recovered, but still no trace of their destruction exists although they wee seem by UN weapons inspectors...sorry no again]"
Sorry son, but you seem to have a pretty poor memory. I hope that it doesn't keep you from having a full life. Most folks remember the Downing Street Memo, Joe Wilson's report and, of course, the admission of one of Bush's own that Bush wanted Iraq tied to 9/11...Too bad you didn't have the mental capacity to hold those memories for four whole years, son...
"This President must apologize to the troops — for having laughed about the failure of that intelligence, at a banquet, while our troops were in harm's way. [bush has to apologize? you guys and your pundits have made US intelligence the butt of innumerable jokes, but Bush has to apologize for 1? sorry, no]"
We guys aren't the ones who sent young men to their deaths over the failure of Bush to look at intelligence that conflicted with his predetermined invasion, child. Laughing about something like that is something that a wartime deserter might do; however, I would imagine that he would have to be shameless to do it...
I'll let you chew on those for a while, son...
I finally placed it….that feeling I get when Im watch’in “Keith’s Comments”. It’s the same feeling I get when I stumble across Pat Robertson when I’m flipp’in around. When I listen to Pat Im saying GEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ about a 100 times… The same GEZZZZZZZZZZ I say when Keiths “all bent up”.
So you leftwing Nutjobs, Fruitcakes, Wackos have got your own “little Pat Robertson” 700 club. Its called COUNTDOWN.
So don’t kid yourself your as dumb and gullible as the folks you like to rip on.
The actual text was that if you didn't work hard, "you end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq. Just ask President Bush."
----
Nice to see it only took a day or so for the a copy of the "prepared remarks" to come out...and how bad of a speaker do you have to be to leave out whole chunks like "getting us" and "in a war" and "Just ask President Bush." I thought Kerry was supposed to be sooo smart, a great orator and debator...but per the vids of the speech, did not look like he was flummoxed or felt he had misstated anything...he in fact looks deeply satisfied with the line as it was and the crowd's response to it.
So let's try this at home...
I say " Liberals are great for America" but my prepared remarks actually say (and how could anyone possibley misinterpret this): Radical stuffed shirt Liberals are great for America to use in gound up form to our fertilize farm land.
Seriously the real problem that we have here is a bunch of old washed up hippies who are trying to relive their youth. Iraq is NOT VIETNAM, Bush is NOT NIXON and these folks need to GROW-UP A LITTLE
Thanks for your words of wisdom, connor; however, since Kerry served, I really don't think that he would denigrate himself in that manner...
And, we both know that a prepared speech would hardly contain such political suicide. It is simply the last gasp of the neocon girls who have nothing left and just want to distract...
Even Dick Armey agreed that Kerry meant nothing of the sort...
Brian,
Bush is not Nixon. Nixon was competent...
Kerry served alright. He's a pussy just like you blindrat and keith olby.
""When the chips were down you could not count on John Kerry," said Lt. j.g. Larry Thurlow. "John Kerry is no war hero," said Lt. Bob Elder. Some of the charges referred to the anti-war testimony Kerry gave before Congress.
But John O'Neill, the officer who took over command of Kerry's Swift boat after Kerry left Vietnam, raised some specific questions about the incident for which Kerry received his most significant award, the Silver Star:
"In the Silver Star incident, John Kerry's citation reflects that he charged into a numerically superior force, and into intense fire," O'Neill told ABC News in an August 2004 interview. "But the actual facts are that there was a single kid there who had fired a rocket, who popped up, and John Kerry with his gunboat, with or without a number of troops, depending on who you talk to, plopped in front of the kid. The kid was wounded in the legs by machine gun fire, and as he ran off, John Kerry jumped off the boat and shot the kid in the back."
blindrat is so witty... and definitely unemployed. He spends more time here than any liberal. Don't forget to cash that govt. check today blind boy. No wonder you want the Dems in power. They'll raise that the sum of your monthly check and give you more reason to sit on your ass and spew haterd.
brick is my favorite Chickenhawk!
She thinks that the perfect eyewitness to Kerry's war service was people who weren't anywhere near him at the time...
She is a good dog!
To Nixon's credit he was also a self made man that became president and not some boarding school rich kid from Connecticut like Bush.
Brick: "Kerry served alright. He's a pussy just like you blindrat and keith olby."
So youre saying that whoever served is a pussy? You owe all of those who served in the military an apology.
Anonymous: Instead of insulting Blindrat, say something constructive - oh, but that would mean you actually have something constructive to say.
The fact that you right wing conservativs are so blind to the headgames that are being played makes me pity you.
Constructive Comment: Drop your people magazine and switch off Bill O'Reilly - go read a history book. You might learn something.
Anon,
Instead of waiting for them to learn to read, perhaps they should get someone to read a history book to them...
I'm truly shocked at how big this Kerry non-story has become. I guess this is how the right passes time between missing/dead young blondes.
rat......your refutation at 1244 is laughable at best since you respond back to only two of my responses...and then cite Joe Wilson of all people...talk about discredited! and as far as your second point...see the congressional record for the vote and see that democrats voted to go there
next...
no response to my laura bush comment?
plus...its nice that you so completely show why people despise liberals like yourself...the condescending attitude and self-righteousness you display while ignoring items left and right
go ahead and call me son if you want...I am a proud to be a reflection of my father who you do not measure up to in the least in what you have shown in your posts...the fact that you wish I was your son only proves how much you must loathe your own values...and as far as my memory, its fine thanks for asking...I remember how your kind treated Nixon at the time and calling him competent was the last thing you were doing...PS: prove bush's incompetence by the way as all you guys claim he is...oh and prove stupid too...since these must be facts and not ad hominem attacks since you guys claim you don't make those they MUST be eaily provable beyond a reasonable doubt
indierik,
How could this story be bigger than, say, the one about half a billion dollars worth of weapons missing in Iraq?...
Apparently, Bush has decided to hedge his bets by supporting both sides...
Great Summary as always Mr. Johnny Dollar.
Always a good read.
Olby is leaving his guts out there between now and election day. He's a modern day Howard Beal and a throwback to Charlie Kane....
"Citizen Keith" and his "Olbyganda" are truly living in democratic Xanadu. Such the darling of the NY cocktail circuit. I can see the standing ovation as he struts in Elaine's on the Upper East Side to hang out with all the left-leaning blue bloods.
Citizen Keith...What would we do without him?
Sadly, he's cutting into my O'Reilly time because he's so damn crazy. Thankfully, I do not have a tv meter in my home.
I can only hope that we are treated to more special comments. And what of NBC News? How sad and pathetic is this one-sided time slot for a once-proud news division? I see no other point of view on this tv program except KO's and his fellow legion of brown nosers.
Truly amazing that NBC News has chosen this approach. They must be selling a lot of commercials...worshipping at the alter of greed.
Sadly, there are people out there that believe in Olby, love Olby, follow Olby like some new fandangled religion.
The guys a prince. He does have balls for the things he says. It is Olby's right to spew "Olbyganda".
Surely, America can figure this thing out.
you gotta love these liberal hypocrites who keep saying such nice things about nixon...rat...my memory is fine I think yours and rik are faltering...check the historical record to see what you guys thought about nixon
PS: since you whining libs seem to take as fact that Bush is stupid and incompetent...please prove beyond any reasonable doubt he is...think of this as the chance to show us the way of your wisdom instead of just being condescending like rat
Golly connor,
When your refutation is "I don't see any reason for Bush to apologize" it is kind of difficult to have anything to say to such a non-response. Maybe if you had actually stated something it might've been easier. I didn't draw attention to it out of respect for your memory problems (Joe Wilson turned out to be right, son)...
I'm not aware of any Laura Bush comment. And, your post didn't shed any light on what it is...
Anyway, you did disregard my response to your weak "refutation" of Olbermann. Typical of your kind, son.
Although it is nice to hear that you respect your father so much...
connor,
I missed your post about Bush being imcompetent. Hmmm...
He has given us:
Two lost wars...
Record deficits...
Record trade deficits...
A North Korea that was enriching Uranium again...
A larger more active Al Qaeda...
A better relationship with the country responsible for 9/11...
A president that cannot answer questions that he doesn't know about beforehand...
Soldiers who had to write home for body armor for the first three years of the Iraq conflict...
Hundreds of millions of missing tax-payer dollars from Iraq...
Record drug production in Afghanistan...
That would be enough for a court, eh son?
"I'm truly shocked at how big this Kerry non-story has become."
Why? The say-anything party has to say something to polarize the electorate and motivate the troops. What can they possibly say? "Uh, we've fucked up everything we've touched, but please just stay the course and send even more of us to congress so we can have this disfunctional one-party rule forever?" That didn't seem to be going over so well. So they'd rather try to replay the 2004 election and vietnam. Who can blame them. Anything but reality for these guys. The saddest part is McCain is now pretty clearly one of them. That guy has the worst timing in the world.
Gotta sober up some time.
Feechie, I like that "Citizen Keith" bit. I may steal it from you.
It's telling that the biased, eeevil Fox is covering election night with journalists anchoring. A-Mess-NBC is putting far-left Olbermann on as "co-anchor" with another Democrat. I wonder what the reaction would be if Fox decided to let Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity anchor election night coverage?
I was hoping you would use it.... :-)
Please feel free to use it as you wish.
It will be interesting so see how NBC plays out Olby on election night and beyond.
How does this guy morph back into a "journalist"?
Yes, yes, I know...he never was a journalist to begin with!.
Thank god someone is watching out for this Olbermann fellow - good work on the blog. He's clearly a threat to . . . recalcitrant Bush supporters everywhere?
You are ridiculous.
"I wonder what the reaction would be if Fox decided to let Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity anchor election night coverage?"- J$
Would it really make a difference if they used them as opposed to the "fair and balanced" Britt Hume?
"PS: since you whining libs seem to take as fact that Bush is stupid and incompetent...please prove beyond any reasonable doubt he is...think of this as the chance to show us the way of your wisdom instead of just being condescending like rat"
No prob. In order to fight Islamic extremism, Bush has embarked on a botched unilateralist policy that has radically strengthened the hand of the #1 state Islamic extremist actor, Iran. He has simultaeously eroded the unity of world opinion, weakened and stretched our military to the point of giving back gains in Afghanistan, and has relinquished our moral standing and corrupted our intelligence structure by approving torture and inhumane treatment. All this on a bad risk that very possibly wouldn't have had much upside had it worked. And looking at it now I'm not sure there is any way it could have worked. It was based on almost magical thinking and totally ignored practical history.
So that to me constitutes pretty sound proof that that the man is either stupid or possessed of a kind of extreme simplicity and laziness that cannot easily be distinguished from stupidity. Stupid is as stupid does. And in about a week, stupid is going to get his ass handed to him.
Now there will be no way to prove this thesis "beyond a reasonable doubt" in your mind if you are a partisan and aren't really interested in the topic but rather in a fight. Suffice to say no one could have predicted on September 12 just what a weak position we would be in today. It has been an incredible downward spiral. Maybe you can find a way to blame it on the democratic party, or liberals, or the MSM, or gay marriage or whatever. I think it goes right to the top.
I'm not aware of any Laura Bush comment. And, your post didn't shed any light on what it is...
Posted by: blindrat at November 2, 2006 01:57 PM
---don't you read anything here?.....ok blind...scan up near the top of the page...now read KO special-ed comment and find this:
"No shocked outrage at the Kerry insult that wasn't; no subtle smile as the first lady silently sticks the knife in Michael J. Fox's back; no attempt on the campaign trail to bury the reality that you have already assured that the terrorists are winning."
ya know its getting tiresome pointing things out to you guys...if you can't or worse yet refuse to read what you are even arguing about...then there will be no validity to anything you bring up
and as for this:
Anyway, you did disregard my response to your weak "refutation" of . Typical of your kind {you must mean liberals as that is most of what you guys do here anyway..so now I am a liberal!}
Would it really make a difference if they used them as opposed to the "fair and balanced" Britt Hume?
*** The bottom line that leftys fails to understand is that these guys like Hume, Wallace, Bill Hemmer, Williams, Van Sustern....all got their credentials at other news organizations.
The fact that more and more democrats are breaking down and appearing on Fox should tell you something about the integrity of Fox news.
LF
Any one see Dancing with the Stars last night? Its much more fun that this boring politics stuff.
You old people are soo dumb and boring. Just don't vote - duh. Remember when you didn't care about this stuff and just wanted to meet up with your friends. That's what I still do.
P.S. Anyone who responds after this is a loser who smells like old people sitting in their urine in an overheated nursing home - especially connor and blindrat.
Anarchy Now!
I predict that in the coming weeks he will let loose with some choice expletives on air and then even PMSNBC will have to suspend or fire him.
Laura Bush did knife Michael J. Fox. Essentially, she stated that any opinion that he expressed, on video tape, would be simply playing upon people's emotions...
Kinda like Bush, when talking about Iraq, kept saying "9/11 attacks" even though the two, according to him, weren't related...
I predict that in the coming weeks he will let loose with some choice expletives on air and then even PMSNBC will have to suspend or fire him.

Proof? Would that be like proving beyond a reasonable doubt that Sadam had WMD's or nuclear weapons capability? Or would that be like proving beyond a reasonable doubt that Sadam was working with Alqeada? But let's face it most Americans are deciding how they vote for politicians based on viewing them on screen. Yes how they vote should matter but let's face it Carl Rove knows better than anyone that TV spots are how elections are won. So with this in mind do I have to list every Youtube link showing Bush stumbling like an idiot when has no teleprompter to read from? My favorite is the one where he can't say "Fool me once shame on me, fool me... fool me again..."
The guy ran every business his father friends set him up in right into the ground. The idea that "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" is required to prove the sky is blue is about far into living in denial as one can get - which is how most Republican voters are today.

Ask your grandkids who K-Fed is. And if you look it up yourself don't do Myspace. Everyone there is as old as you two and just trolling for sex with 8th graders.

Please tell us what are the democrats going to DO
The world of denial that people like O'conner live in is astonishing. Every one of his points are spin and can easily be refuted, but the space & time to do all of that simply isn't available here.
His funniest talking points were....(1) - our need "to enforce UN resolutions", even though most of the UN was against it. Uh, Conner; who appointed us judge, jury, and enforcer regarding Iraq UN resolutions? I guess we only enforce UN resolutions selectively? Come to think of it, isn't your side the one that doesn't even LIKE the UN?........(2) - Tax cuts for the rich having produced record tax revenue. Prove it! This is just a talking point, and you know it! If what you say is true, we should still have the surplus that Mr. Clinton left us with, but you know darn well that we are still at near record deficits.
Yes, Conner, this is a GREAT econony....if you happen to be wealthy, are a CEO, or work in the investment field, and even that is being fueled by borrowed money in one form or another. The rest of Americans are simply being left behind. How will you feel in 10 - 20 years when China owns half of America?

A former gay male escort is going public on the eve of Colorado voting on two ballot issues relating to gay marriage, claiming a three-year sexual relationship with a prominent Colorado Springs pastor who has been an outspoken opponent of same-sex unions.
A Denver resident identifying himself as Mike Jones said he had a sexual relationship with Ted Haggard, founder of the 14,000-member New Life Church and president of the National Association of Evangelicals.
During an appearance today on the Peter Boyles show on KHOW 630 AM radio, Jones said "After sitting back and contemplating this issue, the biggest reason (for exposing it) is being a gay man all my life, I have experience with my friends, some great sadness of people that were in a relationship through the years" and were not able to enjoy the same rights and privileges as a married man and woman.
"I felt it was my responsibility to my fellow brothers and sisters, that I had to take a stand, and I cannot sit back anymore and hear (what) to me is an anti-gay message."
KUSA Channel 9 spoke to Haggard yesterday outside his Colorado Springs home, and he told a reporter Jones was lying.
"I’ve never had a gay relationship with anybody, and I’m steady with my wife. I’m faithful to my wife," said Haggard.
Jones on Thursday said that the denial is a lie.
"Yes he is (lying)," said Jones. "He had a relationship with me. We had gay sex."
Jones also said during his appearance with Boyles that he was paid money by Haggard, who made frequent trips to Denver for sexual liaisons, that he has recorded voicemails and a letter from Haggard, and that he had also witnessed Haggard use methamphetamine.
Jones offered to take a polygraph examination concerning his claim, and Boyles said that will occur Friday during his morning radio show.
I am still waiting to hear from you re debate.
Stupid is anyone like you who actually believes that Kerry or anyone would go out of his/her way to discredit the troops. Not a single person on this planet would think of that except Mr. Rove who got the minions together including McCain who has stooped to an all time low. If you think that Kerry is Jon Stewart, look again. He is not. And like most of your rhetoric. Why not look at the entire tape. He was calling Mr. W Stupid which is exactly the point.

"Please tell us what are the democrats going to DO"
Vague question? Not really we can safely assume you are asking what the many Gulf and Iraqi war vets who ran and won as Democrats are going to do when set up shop in the ex Republican congressman's office they take over. The list is long and I won't bother to address the number one Rove talking point: "The Democrats have no plan" this works with uneducated hillbillies who let Rush (the pig) and Hannity (the pussy) tell them how to think but as we will see on the 7th it doesn't work with real Americans who think for themselves.
The Democrats will do what the Republicans wouldn't do - represent the people who put them in office instead of pimping and whoring to big businesses that line their pockets.
Now if you think you can respond by listing some recent Democrats who are under investigation for such things, 10 to 1 says your pea brain will pretend the Republican list is somehow not eons longer. Where is Tom Delay when you need him? Out pimping and whoring our democracy to the highest bidder of course. Sleazy slime Texas style is common place in today's Republican crime machine.
Your attempt to partially state the most common Rush (the fat pig) Lipbaulm's talking point is indicative of the limitations of your ability to think on your own. You are an idiot and it shows!
coward...now that the rant is done...please answer the question and tell us what dems want/plan to do if/when elected

I badly want to see a little balance and oversight returned to our federal government, but I am not at all overconfident about this! My feeling is that ALL of us, with the exception of the EXTREME far right should actually want us to return to a two party system where policy is set by BOTH parties. Polls seem to bear this out......BUT:
Turnout is going to be the key to this very important election. If the 70% or so that believes we are on the wrong track has a low turn out, and the other 30% has a high turn out, the majority will not get their way.
SO Dems and Independants;.......PLEASE VOTE, especially if you are in a state with a hotly contested Congressional race!
Here's your plan, genius:
"In order for us to accomplish that we must win the election. In our first week in power, Democrats will make America safer by passing legislation to enact the bipartisan, independent 9/11 Commission recommendations. Democrats will expand economic opportunity for Americans by passing legislation to raise the minimum wage. This is all in the first week. Democrats will provide affordable health care for all Americans and we will begin by making prescription drugs affordable. Democrats will broaden opportunity and we will begin by cutting in half the interest rate on student loans. Democrats will energize America by declaring energy independence, and we will begin by rolling back the multi-billion dollar subsidies for Big Oil. That’s just the first week.
...Democrats will accomplish this with civility, honesty, and fiscal responsibility because on the very first day, we will pass a reform package, Honest Leadership, Open Government, to make the most corrupt, closed Congress in history into the most open and honest one. We will pass our civility package, which will turn the Congress into an arena of ideas instead of an auction house where legislation goes to the highest bidder.
We will pay-as-you-go; no new deficit spending. If American families are expected to balance their checkbooks, so too should the Congress of the United States.
...As we talk about a new direction for America, I think one place that a new direction is needed is the war in Iraq. The President continues to say that the situation in Iraq is improving. But just because he wishes it does not make it so. This week, we have reached the tragic milestone of having lost more than 2,500 of our brave troops. This is in addition to more than 18,000 of our troops who have been wounded, more than half permanently, and that doesn’t even count the mental health needs that our troops will have. Improving? I don’t think so.
...Congressman Jack Murtha has a plan, and I quote, ‘that the forces involved [in Iraq] are redeployed at the earliest practicable date.’ That is not cut and run, that is at the earliest practicable date, and I am proud to support the Murtha plan. The Murtha plan has been endorsed by more than 100 of my House Democratic colleagues.
There are only two directions to take in Iraq: Bush’s plan of staying the course to let a future President to sweep up after, or the Murtha plan to change the direction of that course. I support the Murtha plan."
Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader, June 2006.

That is a talking point of the republicans connor. Over and over asking what are they gonna do. What was the republican plan again? It keeps changing. Democracy. WMD's. Stable Iraq. Stay the course, no I am not about that. Why do you fall for it? Your boys had no plan but to win elections. And since they have no scrupples they do that well. They cannot lead. They have led this country right into a ditch.

Oh please! You bore me.
This is the exact same response the talking heads on the Republican side do on every cable news show that features a side by side Dem and Repub disscusion on the issues. The same old Rove play book comment number one and each time the Democratic person on the show tirelessly plays the game and goes along listing in order of priority what the Dem plans are. But if your ignorant ass is stuck watching Faux News with Hannity and the other sloths Murdoch props on Fox then you wouldn't have a clue. And you don't.
Number one the Dems will role back the tax break for the richest one percent of billionaire buddies of the Bush crime family. Number two raise the minimum wage that despite the huge increase in the costs of medical care and pharmaceuticals not to mention housing, the Republicans refuse to raise the mim-wage. 3rd ,hold hearings on Iraq and force Bush to end his "stay the course" suicide mission with the lives America's finest (by a bunch draft dodging deferral coward chicken hawks).
I could go on but that would put and end to your delusion that (as Rush says a 100 times a day)"the Democrats have no plan!"

Hmmm. Let's see Opie is a character of the longest running show ever on TV. The Andy Griffith Show has always been on one channel or another continuously since it began. Opie is one the most widely recognizable and well loved symbols of what America used to be all about - the ability to be free. To use his name for derogatory purposes can be taken only one way, a slight on Opie. Looks like you are out of touch with what real Americans admire.
But to your comment above that Mr. Olbermann appeals to the "far far left". One thing is for sure, you don't have a loved one in Iraq because on a daily basis Mr. Olbermann addresses the vile nature about how Bush uses America's finest in uniform for his own political purposes despite the fact the "war" was lost long ago when the chicken hawks refused to listen to the generals that new a thing or two about how to execute a battle plan. The constant failure of all you Hannity and Rush Lipbaulm ditto head phonies to ever get it right just keeps going right over your heads simply because you all suffer from a severe case of rectal cranial inversions. Turn off Fox News and Rush and get a real education. You are a disgrace to our democracy!
Codas! Hey there! I really gotta go for now but will answer quickly and be on my way...
It is a talking point for R's because they found that they were not getting an answer to the question. If responded too they would not have it as a talking point anymore, yes?
The R plan at the beginning of W's first term was lower taxes which has worked...in September 2006 record tax revenues were collected...want a source search the NYT or WSJ.
Also, tried to fix broken schools...only problem was, in effort to be bipartisan, called on Teddy to help and to this day I do not feel it has worked, but the Dems blame W and forget about Teddy's help...at least something is being tried, though. My teacher wife saw nothing progressive happening in the prior administration that claimed to do everything "for the children"
Wanted to calm down the rhetoric in Washington and try to unite the opposing sides...see bringing in Teddy to help on Education bill...see working with Clinton (ie Katrina) and other overtures only to be slapped upside the head and called names from before he even set foot in the white house
that is just the start of reasons I originally voted for him

JERUSALEM – "Everybody has an opinion about next Tuesday's midterm congressional election in the U.S. – including senior terrorist leaders interviewed by WND who say they hope Americans sweep the Democrats into power because of the party's position on withdrawing from Iraq, a move, as they see it, that ensures victory for the worldwide Islamic resistance."

You make claims that have no basis in anything but Limbaugh rhetoric. Total garbage. Every bit of your verbatim quoting of Limbaugh and Hannity is so typical. I would like to see you back up one claim you have made with anything other than mere claims.
On everyone of these talk shows I mentioned previously when ever the Democratic person mentions reversing tax breaks for the richest people the response is always identical by every person who's there as a Republican. They pretend the audience is stupid and say "See they intend to raise YOUR taxes." As though the Dem person didn't say only the richest one percent.
Under one of greatest and most widely loved modern day presidents, President Bill Clinton, we managed just fine in this nation to raise up a robust economy without the billionaires having the huge tax breaks Bush gave them.
Now I know you are going to say Clinton left Bush a falling economy. Excuses, excuses. None of it justifies running our national debt into record numbers and then claim you've fixed a failing economy. Bullshit, it is all done on the backs of our children who are going to be stuck with this debt. Your an ass!
It never fails that simpletons simply, and because they've listened over and over and over to Limbaugh and Hannity, simply repeat the same garbage that has no bases in fact, as a response to any politician who dares to take office and implement policy that serves the people instead of the richest corporations who the Republicans have pimped and whored our democracy to.
You are a disgrace!

Wow! The deficit has been a problem for years? Yeah, but it went from a thirty year low to a record high under Bush...
A lost war is one like Afghanistan, where we control less than half the country or Iraq, where even our generals call it a lost war...
9/11 was funded and carried out by Bush's buddies, the Saudis...
All of the money that Bush asked for for the Iraq war was given to him...

Now, according to your last post, they are going to try to play that same damned filthy card again! Is there NO depth the right wing will not sink to win an election?

Hundreds of millions more have likely been misspent. As usual, well-connected contractors like Halliburton and Kellogg, Brown and Root have been the beneficiaries."
"By willfully failing to exercise any oversight over reconstruction efforts in Iraq, this Republican Congress has endangered the lives of Iraqi civilians, put our troops at risk, and made it far less likely that Iraq will become a stable state in the near future," Slaughter said."

President of National Association of Evangelicals accused of 3-year sexual relationship with gay hooker, and of taking drugs
by John in DC - 11/02/2006 11:03:00 AM
UPDATE: This guy is reportedly as important as James Dobson:
The press tends to regard Dobson as the most powerful evangelical Christian in America, but Pastor Ted is at least his equal.
UPDATE: Here is how big this story is.
Christian evangelical leader Ted Haggard... one of the nation's most influential evangelical Christians, whose overstuffed agenda includes a weekly conference call to the White House.
He also claims to have direct access to George Bush:
"We have direct access," says Mr. Haggard, senior pastor of the giant New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colo. "I can call [Mr. Goeglein], he'll take my concern to the president and get back to me in 24 hours."
And he's virulently anti-gay. This guy was on TIME's list of the 25 most influential evangelicals in America. It doesn't get any bigger than this. And he's from Colorado. Wonder what Marilyn Musgrave has to say about this?
From 9News in Denver:
A gay man and admitted male escort claims he has had an ongoing sexual relationship with a well-known Evangelical pastor from Colorado Springs.
Mike Jones told '9 Wants to Know' Investigative Reporter Paula Woodward he has had a "sexual business" relationship with Pastor Ted Haggard for the past three years.
Haggard is the founder and senior leader of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs. The church has 14,000 members.
He is also president of the National Association of Evangelicals, an organization that represents millions of people.
Haggard is married with five children and an outspoken critic of gay marriage....
Jones started talking to 9 Wants to Know two months ago. He claims Haggard has been paying him for sex over the past three years, even though Haggard preaches that homosexuality is a sin.
Jones also claims Haggard used methamphetamine in his presence on several occasions....
Former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw profiled Haggard in 2005 in a series on mega-churches. Haggard was also listed by Time magazine as one of the 25 most influential Evangelicals in America last year.

And yet he still get his ass handed to him ever night by O'Reilly.
Mr. Coward Watch,
Let me give a more precise statement.
Please name those countries who used to love us but hate us now, whose opinions we should care about.
I presume that you would give the same answer.
There two groups of counties that "hate us more". One group consists of those countries in 'Old Europe'. They hate us because they are dingbats. I don't care what they think.
Let's look at one of those countries, namely, France. This country did not support the Iraq deal. One would think that their Muslim population would cut them some slack. "Frenchy Infidels, we commend your rejection of the American Crusaders. We will reward you as follows: When our grandchildren outnumber your grandchildren and become the majority of voters in France, and abolish the Parliament, and establish Sharia law in the new Islamic Republic of France, we will let you live. But first, please show your good faith by begining at once, to stone to death all harlots, pork eaters, alcohol drinkers, and sexual deviants." But no, that is not what is happening in France. Instead, the Intifada continues each and every day. Mr. Coward Watch, please explain.
Regarding the second group of countries that "hate us more", meaning Arab/Muslim countries. Well, they are what I like to refer to as "the enemy". I expect them to hate us. And any Muslim who claims that they used to love us but now hate is is a lier. If they ever hate us they always hated us. When they claimed that they loved us they were merely "sleepers".
God am I laughing,

"Be afraid be very afraid." It never ends. The cowards are so predictable. If the Democrats win we all will be praying in the mosques. And then the sky will fall.
The funniest part of this fear mongering garbage by the coward KfK is the part: "...including senior terrorist leaders interviewed by WND who say they hope Americans sweep the Democrats into power..."
Well that was dumb of them hey? To tell the whole world that the "terrorist leaders" want the Dems to win. The cat's out of the bag now. Boy those "terrorist leaders" sure are dumb. Uhhh dumb? Then why have we failed to defeat them? Oh yea that is Clintons fault right? Bush he's the "war president" he never fails to defeat stupid "terrorist leaders."
And can Bush have these terrorist leaders who give news conferences apprehended? Guess not.
Any fool can suck up this kind of garbage all day long. The only enemy of democracy who wants the Dems to loose are the billionaires across this planet who Bush and the Republican crime machine pimped and whored our democracy off too. It's too bad we have no Christians anywhere in this discussion that have "faith" of any kind in anything but war and invasion of a sovereign nations that never did jack shit to us. Faith in war and mass killing of hundreds of thousands of innocent men women and children simply so they feel "safe" from the boogie straw man the Bush/Rove crime machine manufactured. Get a hold of yourself (slapping sounds across the face.)
15 Saudi's based in Afghanistan kill 3000 Americans on American soil and ignorant dumb asses like you feel safe when Bush takes this event and turns into a quagmire in Iraq that ends up killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people, that in turn enrages hundreds of millions more to hate us, not to mention more than 2000 of America's finest dead and you post this fear mongering garbage. Get a clue, you look like a fool!
After watching post from the right on this site for weeks, one thing becomes clear: They don't have any problem at all with a President becoming a king, as long as they believe he is on their side.
"... they hate us because they are dingbats. I don't care what they think."

Uhhh... try as you may to appear like you have some faint potential for intellectual discourse here but when you begin like this you put front and center how shallow you are. Having opinions about "hate" is something I don't take lightly. This nation is not yours to throw to the dogs of your choice. I do care what any human being thinks of the country I love and respect, respect mainly because I don't take lightly the sacrifices so many have made to keep my country great, strong and free.
No democracy can survive without freedom of speech. Our media from home town newspapers to every major news outlet is owned by big business that have zero interest in anything but profits. When scum bags like Limbaugh can make millions putting his rhetorical skills to work filling uneducated working class people's minds full of garbage and then to confront the product of his work in the form you take is repulsive to me. Your casual disregard for hatred of this nation makes you scum.
You can now fuck off, you are a traitor to our democracy and a huge coward!
This site is hilarious! You can tell when a guy really gets to people when they spend money to create a WEB SITE devoted to bashing him!

That is because they didn't study hard in school and do their home work, especially their American History home work. They have no clue of the value of democracy and think nothing of supporting politicians that pimp and whore their religion or their country's political system.
Lazy cowards sit back and let Limbaugh and Hannity do their thing with "Clinton this and Clinton that..." Clinton goes away and because they can't feel like they are a man unless they are a remember of group that attacks a person together they pick Mr. Olbermann out simply because he is passionate about our democracy and our nation. It is a by product of the Klan Kulture that was brought into the fold of the Republican party soon after segregation turned the bible belt upside down. The Dixiecrats flipped and became Republican in mass under when Regan was running for office. The pimps and whores of Evangelical religion lead the way parting the political scene and lead their people to the promise land of Carl Rove and Co. Mark Foley, Tom DeLay, Abramhoff and the rest.
Pimps and whores, pimps and whores. They do nothing but act like the Borg of Limbaugh as Republican pimps sell of our democracy to scum like Rupert Murdoch and the highest bidders.
Uneducated Limbaugh ditto heads!
I can't stay here forever so I will sign off for now and let the rats have run of the store floor scraping for crumbs in my absence.
You guys need to abandon your beliefs that perception is reality. Jesus and democracy are not yours to pimp for momentary feelings of power. Intellectual honesty is your only path!

How about reading the article loonies! It is not the "Bush administration" saying this stuff you clowns. It is the TERRORISTS! Man, you guys are criminally insane. Here are some nice excerpts that I'm sure we'll see on "Meltdown" (from http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=52747):
“Of course Americans should vote Democrat,” Jihad Jaara, a senior member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group and the infamous leader of the 2002 siege of Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity, told WND.
“This is why American Muslims will support the Democrats, because there is an atmosphere in America that encourages those who want to withdraw from Iraq. It is time that the American people support those who want to take them out of this Iraqi mud,” said Jaara, speaking to WND from exile in Ireland, where he was sent as part of an internationally brokered deal that ended the church siege.
Jaara was the chief in Bethlehem of the Brigades, the declared “military wing” of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party. Together with the Islamic Jihad terror group, the Brigades has taken responsibility for every suicide bombing inside Israel the past two years, including an attack in Tel Aviv in April that killed American teenager Daniel Wultz and nine Israelis.
Muhammad Saadi, a senior leader of Islamic Jihad in the northern West Bank town of Jenin, said the Democrats’ talk of withdrawal from Iraq makes him feel “proud.”
“As Arabs and Muslims we feel proud of this talk,” he told WND. “Very proud from the great successes of the Iraqi resistance. This success that brought the big superpower of the world to discuss a possible withdrawal.”
Abu Abdullah, a leader of Hamas’ military wing in the Gaza Strip, said the policy of withdrawal “proves the strategy of the resistance is the right strategy against the occupation.”

So why did Kerry apologize if it was "deliberate distortions" by the republicans? Does he not have the spine to stick behind his comments?

I don't give a tinkers damn what party ANY foreigner thinks should win the election. I have no clue how representative the opinions of these fanatics actually is, nor do I care.
It would be criminal for any party or spokesman (self appointed or otherwise), to use this kind of opinions from abroad to try to influence our elections.
Way to address the facts there, "Mike." The TERRORISTS are saying your party is encouraging them, and the terrorists are telling you they want Democrats to win. Bush is not saying it, nor is Cheney, nor is Rove -- the terrorists are saying it directly.
No alarm bells going off there Mikey? None? Yeah, I thought so.

Uhhh... yea so what! You're dam right Muslims have a strategy of resistance. So you are saying Muslims are willing to fight and die to defend what they believe in. You want to try to defend why Bush put America's finest men and women into Iraq, a nation that never attacked us and had nothing to do with 911? If so I would love to hear it. I guarantee you it will be the easiest thing to shred the moment you post a response.
You seem to think there is some political significance in stating the obvious - that the Democratic party is more liked around the world than the Republican crime machine who daily defend the slaughter of more than 100 thousand innocent Iraqi men, women, and children? Is it supposed to be a surprise that a billion Muslims have more hate for Republicans than Democrats? You're a frigging genius!
What you are suffering from is fear of those you hate. The identical thing the Klan suffered from during segregation. The Klan new revenge was a bitch. Maybe if you weren't such a coward you would have less hate in your heart
No faith in being a good human being you turn to fear and hate. You're an embarrassment to the country and our democracy.
I am different. I have faith that being something other than a hating coward like you, we can achieve more. Rather than sucking up all the garbage cable news and Rush feed you perhaps you might try to understand why a billion Muslims hate the west. Get a fucking education instead of posting Klan like garbage that is nothing more than fear mongering garbage by a coward!

The "facts"?
Fact, Bush lost this war the day he ignored his top generals and dismissed the Iraqi military and sent too few troops into a nation people that have a long history of sectarian violence.
Bush did it on the cheap so he could give hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks to the richest people and corporations in our country.
They idea that you would say, "No alarm bells going off there Mikey? None? Yeah, I thought so."
Demonstrates that you have a grotesquely over blown view of your ability to debate. Pathetic.
"Alarm bells" is the key words here - clear indication of a coward overcome by fear.
Try again fool!

So why did Kerry apologize if it was "deliberate distortions" by the republicans? Does he not have the spine to stick behind his comments?
Posted by: Anonymous at November 2, 2006 06:43 PM"
Spine? You're joking right? The guy is a decorated war veteran who wore the uniform and fought under fire. You think coward chicken hawks Bush and Cheney have a clue what it means to earn two purple hearts in combat?
Kerry apologized to end the political exploitation of misspoken line that omitted the word "us" as in "you gets 'us' stuck in Iraq..." referring to the idiot Bush who cheated his way through school, business and politics all on his father's name, and ended up creating the quagmire in Iraq with more than 2000 of America's finest dead and hundreds of millions of more Muslims hating us because Bush's war has killed more than 100 thousand innocent Iraqi men, women and children dead.
But you know this perfectly well. But because you are a coward, you try to tear down a decorated veteran of a foreign war and defend a party stuffed with cowards who never served in uniform. Bush was AOL and Cheney got deferral after deferral. I will not for the umpteenth time list the long list of Republican officials who never served. But I will say the coward Rush Limbaugh never did. That can't be said enough!
You're a coward!
I think Keith is great! He clearly points out just how corrupt and hypocritical the Bush administration is and how 6 years of no oversite has caused our country to turn into something that is not recognizable let alone American. I can't wait for my opportunity on November 7th to help change the course we have been on. Please join me and vote Democratic!!
Wow! Brent Bozell is quite the whiney child, isn't he? Personally, I think that Bush and his brown-shirts should have been outed on national television a long time ago. It is long overdue...
Consider it payback for Ann Coulter and Pat Robertson...
Oops- I mean join me and vote republican as democrats are dumbasses. My bad.
Coward Watch: Don't forget when you list Kerry's credentials, to add that he came in second in a presidential election because his fellow veterans voted overwhelming for Bush. Loser!
Rather be a coward than a loser... Impeach Kerry- Oh thats right. He lost! He Lost. He lost- like Gors did 4 years earlier. LOSERS!
Keith......What an A$$ H@le
Brent Bozell says..."Mr. Olbermann’s comments are beyond partisan. They are radically extreme and hateful. If any conservative even came close to the tenor and bitterness of Mr. Olbermann’s rhetoric, the liberal media would assail them as hate-mongers who are dividing the country. And if he worked for a network, he’d be fired immediately – or look at Michael Savage who, incidentally, was fired from MSNBC. But when a leftist like Mr. Olbermann spews his venom, the liberal media say … nothing."
"If any conservative came close", has this guy ever heard of Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, or Mark Levin. These people spew hate filled comments towards people all the time. They attack people dying of terminal illnesses, women who have lost their husbands to a terrorist attack, and anyone else they figure has an agenda that they do not agree with. Olbermann at least saves his venom for people who are in power. People seem so offended that someone could be so upset at the president and government to say these things. They call him extreme, a wacko. If the democrats were in power he would be saying the same stuff. I don't think any of you cared when Keith would get all over Clinton for lying to a grand jury. But now he gets all over Bush for lying to the American people about the war in Iraq and people think he is extreme. He isn't extreme, please look at the polls to see he is more aligned with current voter feelings then the people who attack him for being extreme. So the liberal press is supposed to attack him for criticizing the president and his administration. I'm sure they would if he wished for someone in the administration to die, or expressed joyous glee if Bush had to deal with a personal tragedy in the family. He is not attacking people who have been forced to deal with circumstances beyond their control like disease or the death of loved ones. He attacks people who made decisions and choices that he feels have hurt and degraded this country. Again the majority of people in this country agree with him according to the polls.
As far as Mr. Savage goes, he got fired not for insulting the president but by calling a gay caller a sodomite and saying he should die of aids. That is by leaps and bounds way worse than anything Keith Olbermann has ever said about anyone.
""If any conservative came close", has this guy ever heard of Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, or Mark Levin. These people spew hate filled comments towards people all the time."
Uhhh... Dude, your making too much sense, slow down take it easy. The social space cadets that frequent this site can't process so much truth at once. They will have no way to respond in a manner that matches the truths you tell, as a result they will act as though you didn't and respond with material that completely ignores your point.
Good Luck

You noticed that to huh.
Ok this is for now, I have an appointment for a flu shot but I will back to dance with yall later tonight.
Pay attention to the beauty of this one:
"Coward Watch: Don't forget when you list Kerry's credentials, to add that he came in second in a presidential election because his fellow veterans voted overwhelming for Bush. Loser! " Posted by: benson at November 3, 2006 11:46 AM"
The overwhelming majority of key local elections of newly elected Democrats to the House and the Senate will be Gulf and Iraqi War veterans. Why? Because as Mr. Benson so eloquently points out your a "loser" when you are not on the side of America's finest men and women that wear the uniform of the United States of America. In a contrast using Mr. Benson's truth, the Republican leaders are overwhelmingly draft dodgers, AOL, and deferment cowards who approve of Bush (AOL) - the lowest favorability of a president in office in modern times. No one knows better than the veterans and the family's of veteran's who have lost their lives in Bush's quagmire, who is on the veteran's side - there fellow veterans!
So come Nov 7th be sure to keep a sharp eye out for verification of the brilliant Mr. Benson's truth that "losers" are those that veterans don't support.
Thank you Mr Benson, you've done well

COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN - NOVEMBER 1, 2006
"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith Olbermann
Topics/Guests:
SEN. KERRY (D-MASS.) FIRESTORM: Howard Fineman, Newsweek senior Washington correspondent and MSNBC political analyst
6 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY: David Shuster, MSNBC correspondent
GEORGE ALLEN INCIDENT: Mike Stark, liberal blogger
The Reuters News Agency is stupid (reported Kerry "saying college students could 'get stuck in Iraq' if they do not study hard.")
The Pasadena Star-News is stupid (as above).
Harold Ford (D) is stupid ("he needs to apologize")
Hillary Clinton (D) is stupid ("inappropriate")
John Murtha (D) is stupid (Kerry "needs to explain")
Claire McCaskill (D) is stupid ("a dumb thing to say and he should apologize")
Jon Tester (D) is stupid ("just plain stupid; he owes our troops and their families and apology")
Bruce Braley (D) is stupid (cancelled a Kerry appearance over "inappropriate" comments)
Mary Landrieu (D) is stupid ("careless, callous, and hurtful")
General Wesley Clark (D) is stupid ("a bad comment")
The American Legion is stupid ("false and outrageous...he should apologize")
The AmVets are stupid ("ridiculous and appalling...apologize immediately")
Paul Reickhoff, executive director of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, an honored Countdown guest just two days ago, now suddenly is stupid ("Kerry should issue an immediate apology for his misguided and inappropriate remarks")

2. A subordinate official, especially a servile one.
3. One who is highly esteemed or favored; a darling.

If what Kerry said truly was a "joke," then pigs actually can fly.

...okay, okay- ONE more post- just for you OWUB and Liberal Mike (not to be confused with Mike from Ohio)...
For real.

Posted by: Mike at November 1, 2006 09:37 PM

Well...yeah. At least according to every federal intelligence agency of the United States, our foreign policy - specifically in Iraq - has fueled an extremist recruitment surge that has increase the number of Al Qeada members by 150% in the past three years.

Posted by: Mike at November 1, 2006 09:48 PM

Mike, I suggest you do a little studying of your own. Any embassy of any country is by international law an extension of the country it represents. Within the confines of an embassy, the government of the nation representd is supreme.
A US naval vessel is also an extension of the country it defends. Remember Pearl Harbor. Not a state in 1941 but FDR and every other American knew that AMERICA had been attacked because it was a US naval base and US warships.
I have read on occasion that Khobar Towers could be considered an extension of our country.
So, I would state that this is the longest period that we have not been attacked since the early 90's.

Bill Force:
So you are an example of how many in the right wing think! You are pathetic:
You don't even understand the definition of treason. Treason is following your government no matter what, even when they are wrong and in the process of marching us right over the cliff. It is VERY patriotic to stand up for what you believe to be right. That IS America, and that is what made America great. Take this away, and we have nothing!
No, you couldn't be more wrong...Olbermann is a patriot in the truest sense of the word.

Ramrod:
I was mistaken that he he said it in the 1995 SOTU. Mea culpa.
He made this comment several times in different permutations. Most notably at an address at Michigan State University.

'Truth'
Are you really comparing Clinton's 1998 bombing to the present situation? Clinton's policy was containment....guess what, it was working!
To those who keep wanting to compare limited bombing attacks to invading and occupying a country (that didn't attack us)....please stop, you sound ridiculous.

President Clinton again:
"There is nothing patriotic about hating your government, or pretending you can hate your government but love your country...How dare you suggest that we in the freest nation on earth live in tyranny...

A current list of Mister Bush's stupid minions (Democrats all)...
Rep. Harold Ford
"He needs to apologize to our troops"
Sen. Hillary Clinton
“What Sen. Kerry said was inappropriate”
Gov. Janet Napolitano
“It's just wrong"
U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez
“I think his comments were inappropriate”
New Jersey Senate President Richard Codey
“I think it's offensive”
Senate candidate Jon Tester
“Senator Kerry's remarks were poorly worded and just plain stupid”
North Carolina State Democratic Party chairman Jerry Meek
“John Kerry's botched joke was wrong and he should apologize”
Congressional candidate Bruce Braley
"I believe that Senator Kerry's brief statement was inappropriate”
Congressional candidate John Pavich
“I believe he should apologize to the brave men and women in service.”

Thanks!!! I watched KO tonight for the first time for no reason in particular and couldn't turn away. I can't fathom how someone so dillusional, as he is, could actually hold down a position on a major network. I can't see him continuing on for much longer after that rediculous display of "stupidity." He must've spent his younger years in an opium den.

Very good question and a very good post. Others on this site have labeled me a "Liberal", but I have a lot of respect and admiration for Patrick Buchanon. He is a true conservative in every sense of the word, and unlike most
Uhhh that last post was a total mistake not meant to happen. Hopefully the sys op can fix it.
