Open thread for election night. As the returns come in, waste our valuable bandwidth with your observations, excuses, and I-told-you-sos.
First exit poll results show surges inconsistent with recently published surveys. Corruption rates as a key issue. Late deciders breaking 60-40 Democrat.
Turnovers:
House: Dems take control
Senate: Dems +5:
Key Races:
FLASH: Washington Post withdraws its projection of Cardin victory; Michael Barone sees no reason for them to do so.

TVNewser started off by claiming David Shuster had some sort of 'scoop' about 'voter intimidation' this morning. Keep in mind, Brian Stelter never once said a word about Shuster's "I am convinced Karl Rove will be indicted" comment. Now, he has a poll up asking who has the best election coverage and BIG SURPRISE! MSNBC is sweeping it across the board. Guess the kid knows who his fans are.
Thanks, Bill O' Lielly!!! That seed remark got us a new window for comments !!!!!
Scarborough just mentioned the inaccuracies of exit polling in '04 and how the media crowned Kerry by 5:00 PM. Matthews thanked Joe for that "damper".
Damper for whom, Chris?
Man... I got to make no predictions thanks to titular bickering :-(
RedState:
YOUR bias is showing. He probably meant "bummer" for the media, because they got it wrong.
did I just hear Dickless Gregory say a "poor Economy" is against the Republicans???
What will MSNBC do if the Dems aren't victorious???
My anonymous high ranking unnamed unidentified sources say MessNBC will say the republicans CHEATED!!!!!!
Also a Tucker/Krazy Keith profile shot reveals two chubby dudes !!!
Listen to how "HAPPY" Krazy sounds announcing the Ohio Gov. race results... incredible.
olbermann needs to get some new suits, his always look so cheap, kinda like him. I keep flippin back and forth between Britt and msnbc but can't stay on msnbc cuz spittin matthews and olbermann just make me ill and I just finished dinner.
Chris and Keith look and sound like they are doing their own show sitting at the same anchordesk.
Keith should wear a bright blue suit tonight. Oops, Katie forgets about that, too busy to check on Britney Spears' "breaking news".
Except, Krazy doesn't speak to "panels" or anyone that might say anything other than his echo chamber on Meltdown!
Chris and Olby are oil and water. The first hour of the MS broadcast was god-awful. Chris is doing all the work. Olby is a prop. If he doesn't have a script, he's lost.
Vote for the party that will be able to repair Britney Spears/Kevin Federline's damaged marriage (Conservative Party !?!?!)
Told you it is a very bad choice to put these two guys together. Keith cannot pair with anyone except Dan Patrick. You are definitely right, without script, without teleprompter, he is totally lost. He cannot do hardball style show, he will yell at the guest or will tell the guest how dumb he/she is.
Chris Matthews could not do a Countdown-type show, either. He has not enough consistency to sustain a full hour by himself, and he flip-flops between parties, as well!
Chris said: "I can't read that BIG FACE of yours..." to Gov. Richardson. I guess "Fat Ass" is coming next from Krazy, ala Roger Ailes?
Gov. Richardson, thinks to himself: Huh-ype GASP!!! What did he just call me?!?!? I am insulted!!! I should get into my private jet and fly away into the night sky!!!
The Krazy tan man is lost without the answers to the questions beforehand.
It is funny to watch the krazy wheels in motions trying to come up with something prolific and witty to say each time it is his turn to talk.
I doubt Chris would want to do a Countdown-type show.
Please --- tonight is a night with the pfernuss essence of alcohol. If an anchor is a little studdery here or there, it is not neccessarily the fault of the host.
////////// DEFFENDING FOX NEWS! \\\\\\\\\\\\
I guess that is the same going for the lady over at FOX News who confused Barrack Obama for Harold Ford, Jr. Although, she actually made a snafu. You are all nitpicking, here!
OWUB is right... why, even Teddy (hic-up) Kennedy even called Barrack Obama "Osama Bama"!
For all the "I love Olbernut" and "I hate O'Reilly" folks... you'll note that FoxNews does not have its NUMBER ONE commentator on tonight... only the "real news" folks.
On the other side- MSLSD has the Chris and Krazy show.
I can understand why Matthews is there, but Olby? He's wallpaper at this point.
The reason FOX does not want to play Hannity, Hume, or O'Rielly, is because when the results start coming in, they do not want anybody seeing the guy falling down and crying out "OOOOOOOHHHH WHYYYYYYYY!!!..."On air...
Chrus is the most neutral of all the anchormen at MSNBC, he is not flip-flopping between parties. And we all know he is a Democrat.
OWUB... while your last remark was quite funny (despite my politics!), I only mention that O'Reilly et al are not on- but Krazy is.
Olberloons love to spout that Keith is NOT a journalist (despite what KEITH says) but a commentator. And they HATE FoxNews.
Yet, its Fox that doesn't put its opinion commentators on.
Hey,, righties,, are you on your second bottle of Jack Daniels now ? Damn I love watching Faux news.. watching them is like watching the bodies fall off of the Titanic.
Hey everybody! It's "I'll attack your family members because I don't agree with you politically" O'LAMEly!
Great to have you back, psycho!
Lawstudent,,, hell I am suprised Rivermutt has a daughter,, but again so he can say what he wants about anyone... but we cannnot respond ?
Again, LAME-O, you can say what you want (I guess) but Riverdog's political attack against YOU was a little different from your "I'll have sex with your daughter and fill her with my seed" comment.
You're a creep. Call Foley and get a room.
Look at Krazy Keith's eyes as he talks to his leader Howard Dean... he even has his hands wringing together... I bet he's creaming his pants!
political attack by Rivermutt... please. all he does is call anyone who disagrees with Bush a fag or some other such nonsense.
Matthews just asked a great question. If voters are going in to vote Democrat to get out of Iraq what will the get if they Dems win. Dean had no answer...he is still talking...he still has no answer.
LAME-O, get this through your twisted head...
There are liberals.
There are conservatives.
There are creeps.
You are a creep.
Everyone on this site (liberal and conservative) knows this.
Too bad we never saw that kind of questioning of Democrats over the past six months.
What exactly is Keith doing there tonight?
Chris has a nice interview with Howard Dean. I like it. Keith is not even qualified to be his assistant.
How do the H.O.R. and perhaps the Senate take our soldiers out of Iraq ?
Mr. Cox- you are right, I was surprised by Chris' pressing Dean on the question (NOT letting him slide), but I was equally surprised by Dean's sputtering "I'm not gonna play that game" response.
Chris' retort was priceless- "It's not a game, Governor, its a policy question."
You could feel Dean's blood pressure going up. I'm sure he was thinking "Hey, where's Keith?"
I agree, Bob. Chris had Howie on the ropes. What is the Dems plan for Iraq? They ran their campaigns on the war, but do not wish to share their plan with us.
LawStudent... wow... a lawyer who likes to divert insults.. get used to that.
Correct Robert, but the point is that we do not need to trust the same ones incompetent enough to get us into this mess with figuring out out to get us out. In business or sports, when someone screws it up...what do you do? Just let them keep screwing it up, or do you replace them with someone you hope is more competent to try to clean up the mess?
Matthews decked Howard Dean pretty good. Nice to see.
The Dems do not have a plan.
LAME-O, you're simply being redundant... I'm not making any excuse for Riverdog (Mr. Cox himself banned him) but he was attacking YOU.
YOU couldn't take it and made the "I'll have sex with your daughter and deposit my seed" remark.
Say it with me, YOU ARE A CREEP.
Of course Tennessee would not elect a black man, we should have allowed the South to seceed back in the civil war,
...and apparently a racist.
Ford didn't win, so it MUST be because he's black.
Nice.
Tennessee is tough loss for the Dems...that race is over.
ok Law Student... I will say it.. You are a creep.
Matthews' question to Dean is just the typical push left sort of question that the media askss.
If they're interviewing a Republican they challenge from the left. If they're interviewing a Democrat, they challenge from farther left.
What would have been new and different for the media... was if Matthews had taken the opposite tract and challenged Dean from a pro-war perspective.
Pigs would fly...
So the billionaire won! The more things change......!
Whatever you say, creep.
(and tonight- when you're holding your pillow, you'll know that everyone on this site on BOTH sides of the aisle, know that you are a creep.
Why doesn't Keith just call the night off? It is time for his daughter to go to bed. Bed time.
Pro-war ? Please enlighten me,, what are the pro-war points Matthews could make ?
Dewine, Keane, Santorum were dead men walking. Nothing has shaken the GOP yet.
Posted by: Mike at November 7, 2006 08:45 PM
What is your plan?? If the dems win, wonder how long it will take them to come up with a united plan?
Ever wonder why the US allows an unlimited amount of people to go to law school, but limits the amount of people who can go to medical school ? Aren't you glad that our priorities are that screwed up ?
LAME-O said: "bring me your daughter I will screw the hell out of her for the next five hours and then give her back to you filled with my seed..."
Posted by: Bill O'lielly at November 7, 2006 06:52 PM
Dems have a plan...raise taxes, hold hearings, devalue our troops. any questions?
MY plan is irrelevant. However, I would never have been stupid enough to get us in this mess in the first place.
Ouch! Joe smacks down Chris Matthews. The gloves are coming off on MSNBC and they are turning on each other.
Nice Matthews - Scarborough feud going here.
LAME-O, why don't you just Man-Up, admit that you said a bone-headed thing and appologize?
Scarborough has his pants in a wad...
Scarborough has his pants in a wad...
Lieberman projected...bye bye Ned
Lieberthal?
Dems through Liebermann under the bus...GOP voters got him in... Hah !!
There you go, Keith, Chris just gave you a political lecture. Well done, Chris.
Scarborough speaking about FDR ...Cue the Violins.
How many Japanese Americans did FDR inter?
Lieberman & Cheney - "Tie Breakers" LOL !!!
>How many Japanese Americans did FDR inter?
I don't know, why don't you ask Michelle Malkin? She was just on Fox, desperately trying to bleed some drop of hope from the dry stone of your Republican dreams.
Well, you're kinda right, "fired", as the old saying goes, you can't win the SuperBowl EVERY year.
But there is a reason that in the past FORTY YEARS, Democrats have only held the White House for 12 of them.
Not to sound too much like "sour grapes", but I honestly belive that two years of a Pelosi house will totally set-up WHOEVER is the Republican nominee in 2008.
Go Chris! He's right, the Democrats need to come through with a plan and quickly.
And Chris gave Olby a smackdown. MSNBC anchors are snippy tonight.
Olby is just clueless without a script/teleprompter and his "laughing" stagehand.
worm is turning...KO has the champaign chilling and the winner's baseball caps are being fitted. Will the lefties get both houses?
Olby finally reported that a republican won something...(gov of florida)....he had to kick sand in the president's eyes just the same.
such an unbiased journalist...Citizen Keith
Keith is referring to Bush as President tonight instead of Mister. I suppose Abrams had a talk with him.
Like Howard Dean, K.O. must appear as a centrist for an hour or two.
Olby's doing awesome as a news anchor. You guys underestimated him big time.Bwaaahhaaahhahaha
hit_escape: Are you kidding me? Did you watch the first TWO HOURS. Or even right now? They don't let Keith talk to ANYONE- especially anyone who doesn't agree with his (your?) myopic views.
Unless he's "on-script" or reading the teleprompter, you don't see or hear him. He just doesn't have the skills to actually "anchor" anything but his scripted Meltdown.
Citizen Keith is playing Single A ball with a pro like Matthews.
Whoever disliked Santorum will dislike Casey as well. PA had two social conservatives running, which made conservatives quite happy.
Amen to that, Annon... even Howard Scream said that he would "personally invite" Casey to speak at the 2008 Dem Convention. Even though he's a social conservative who is Pro-Life.
Does that make him a NeoCon?
Look at Mr. Impartial Keith... he simply cannot contain his smirk/grin and laugh as he and Emanuel chum it up...
Steve: My understanding is that "Neocon" refers exclusively to the war issue.
I don't know if he's a neocon, but he's definitely in line with the GOP.
"Steve: My understanding is that "Neocon" refers exclusively to the war issue."

I was just kidding/tweeking the libs
*** OUR DEMOCRATIC PLAN ***
You right-wingers keep asking us on the Left for our plan...well I'll tell you our plan.
First, impeach Bush. How can we do that with a Republican Senate? Abolish the Senate. Then, impeach Bush. Then impeach Cheney. Then, with Pelosi as Speaker, she will become President and Commander and Chief. The she will order the U.S. military to surrender it's military positions in Iraq and withdraw. Then she will end our brutal military occupation of Japan, South Korea and Germany.
Next...raise taxes on anyone deemed "wealthy". Success will NOT be tolerated.
Next...we ban the use of oil.
Then we start peace negotiations with Al-Qaeda to determine the best way to compromise with their plan decreed by Allah to rid the world of all non-Al-Qaeda-Muslims...don't worry...we'll think of something.
Then, we banish ALL Republicans from the U.S.
Then we ban religion (Christianity only)
This is for starters...
If anyone knows about disrespecting women, it's Olby.
Am I crazy or is Norah O'Donnell undressing me with her gorgeous eyes?
Holy Sh*t! If the "Northern Virginia" precincts haven't been counted yet- Allen may be in trouble.
But, with 92% of the total vote in, it still looks like Allen will squeak by.
You're crazy.
Allen may keep the Senate ib the hands of the GOP. KO will choke on that one.
Ispeak:
Nice attempt at a parody. Keep working on it. That one was about on the same level of "funny" as Kerry's joke was.
Olby, is that you posting about Norah while you sit and do nothing while others get to talk? I would have thought you'd be on eBay or sending nasty email.
Shays-R is going to hold serve in Connecticut
"Wonderful speech"? Did Mr. Impartial just say, we're going to join Senator Clinton's Wonderful Speech in NY?
Olby never disappoints, does he?
Krazy Keith even shaved those hairy knuckles for the big tv gig...lol
Have you resorted to hearing things that were not said just to keep the criticizm going? A sign Keith is doing better than you expected.
You may be right, Mike ;)
I've been watching non-stop since 6... and I am feeling a little loopy!
Chris Matthews, the best anchor for election night on television.
Ken Mehlmann just said "we can't have Iraq turn into another Afghanistan"!. Now you people on the right need to go after his gaffes too, don't you?
It's Olbermannwatch, not Mehlmann watch.
nope
Brandon:
Sorry I forgot...it's a lynching!
Well, this conservative evangelical can go to sleep happy....
My pro-life, embryonic stem cell research blocking republican representative here in New Jersey-7 won his election against the pro-death, leftist democrat.
And my favorite democrat, Joe Lieberman, will still be a great senator....with an (I) after his name.
I can handle saying, "Speaker Pelosi"....at least we have someone to blame for all that goes wrong in the country, come 2008. (lemonade out of lemons).
Good night Keith.
Actually Brandon it's an open thread. Mehlman's fair game.
Ohio is looking pretty blue tonight. I guess the Repubs will some day figure out that you can't send the jobs of their base overseas.
Amen, Cee... I too can go to bed safe in the knowledge that with two years of a Pelosi House, no matter WHO we run in '08, he/she's a SHOE-IN!
Good night all!
this thread is Election Watch
It looks like Olby did shave his hairy paws.
My prediction for 2008: Olby will be averaging 1.7 million viewers a night.
What, you mean Fox is going to hire him?
Chris and Olby are oil and water. The first hour of the MS broadcast was god-awful. Chris is doing all the work. Olby is a prop. If he doesn't have a script, he's lost.
Posted by: Anonymous at November 7, 2006 07:42 PM
oh really then why when the shot suddenly came back to them chris just stammered out "well were back here again" and Keith jumped in and talked for several minutes about the election and chris just sat there mouth agap.
So mr. big bad Anonymous if Kieth sucks so bad why is he the one doing the coverage with Chris and not Joe or Tucker and for that matter if you all hate him so damn much why are all you fools wactching it????
$- LOL. I'd sooner believe the single bullet theory before I'd believe Fox would hire Olby.
I have to say I'm kinda disappointed that so many of the Repub regulars on the site have turned in. Oh well, I guess I'll do the same.
Thanks for the open threads today.
Krazy Keith has five O'clock knuckle!
You know Johhny, thats a thought! If Fox really would hire a true voice of the opposition, I for one, would respect them more.
By the way, you were right about my comment regarding Hume's remark to a Congressman. I confused him with Cavuto. I realized that while I was watching Fox yesterday. My apologies.
true voice of the opposition when the script is written without any of that pesky debate stuff
heh heh heh ha ha ha.
Webb just took the lead in Virginia...99% in
Is Karl Rove still a genius?
Could someone please get a hold of Zawahiri and Bin Laden and tell them I'm converting to their brand of Islam?
Thanks.
I wanna cover my bases when the attacks begin.
God bless America... Here's to change!
What a great day for America.
Actually... I am kind of disappointed... we did not get enough seats in the senate to further a democratic agenda...
"Office: U.S. Senate
Precincts Reporting: 2423 of 2443 (99.18%)
Registered Voters: 4,555,672 Total Voting: 2,309,512 Voter Turnout: 50.70 %
Candidates Party Vote Totals Percentage
G F Allen Republican 1,141,753 49.44%
J H Webb Jr Democratic 1,139,885 "
From the Commonwealth of VA website. Then I see on TV that Webb has pulled into the lead. Okay. There's still 0.72% of the vote to go....but 0.72% is, off the top of my head, about 1,500 votes and Allen is ahead by almost 2,000. AND the TV is showing Allen with 1,140 and change votes - how does Allen get negative votes in the last 0.72%
There's probably an innocent explanation but it seems weird.
Watercooler discussion tomorrow:
Lefty, "Finally we're in control. Now we can surrender in Iraq and leave"
Righty, "Bush is the Commander in Chief, not Congress."
Lefty, "Then we can pass the legislation WE want"
Righty, "Sure, if Bush signs it into law"
Lefty, "Then we will begin impeachment hearings for Bush"
Righty, "You need a 2/3 vote in the Senate to convict."
Lefty, "And then we will impeach Cheney"
Righty, "Again, you need a 2/3 vote in the Senate to convict."
Lefty, "..."
Righty, "..."
Nancy Pelosi has no interest in impeachment hearings...
GOP will hold serve in both Houses. The thought of Pelosi running the House will send the voters out to the polls.
Citizen Keith will be on suicide watch.
Posted by: Little Feechie at November 7, 2006 11:12 AM
ahem.
Duh. 0.72% of 2 million votes is 15,000 votes, not 1,500. I still don't get the negative votes but there's likely to be a recount anyway.
Congrats to the Dems. The people have spoken. And they've been pretty good over the last century or so. I'm betting they got this one right too.
Matthews mentions that Olberman voted today, yet Olberman claims to never vote
Is there any sort of able-bodied presence in the Senate? (the 5 more Senate seats needed to get Liberal policies in action?!?)
Nancy Pelosi has no interest in impeachment hearings...
* Posted by: :-( at November 8, 2006 12:27 AM
The Democrats have no plan/agenda for anything else...the hope of impeachment hearings (which will go nowhere without 2/3 Senate control) were what put them in office by the far Left.
I do not even see the ground results --- is there going to be a leftist ability for getting important legislation passed in the chambers of Congress? I think not...
Pelosi has plenty of interest in impeachment hearings. But she also has plenty of interest in being Majority Leader beyond 2008. And you can't get thar from har.
So... Nancy Pelosi is the new majority leader?
The Left who put Democrats back in (some) power don't care about immigration, taxes, the minimum wage, etc.
They care about hating Bush.
They want Bush gone and they want troops out of Iraq now.
Neither of which can happen.
Bush on immigration: amnesty.
Bush on taxes: few.
Bush on the minimum wage: easy jobs.
Bush on Iraq: started it.
Bush on impeachment: Nancy.

Bloger Doe: The dems need a total of 7 seats in the Senate to get anywhere...
I'd like to apologize to all the conservatives on this site. I'm sorry we took power from you when you thought we wouldn't. Hopefully a season of bipartisanship will ensue.
ohh big page opps.
The Governors- Dems 28 Rep 18
The House- Dems 235 Rep 200 (no lame duck majority)
The Senate- Dems 46 Rep 49 but 2 Ind. who vote with the Dems. and there are still 3 in play which means they could still take the Senate.
It doesnt really matter because you need 60 votes in the senate to have the majority anyway besides the President the real power is in the House hell Nancy is 3rd in power from the prez. The house decides just about everything.
As a non-republican, it continues to amaze me how much sense I think Scaraborough and Buchanan make. Republicans, how did you let yourself be seduced by this administration? They will look horible in retrospect. They are terible. You had the world by the nuts and you gave it to a bunch of nuts. They don't care about anyone but themselves. Their minds were made up before a question was even raised. Thick and completly removed from reality. Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, Savage, Fox news. You may have thought they represent true blue America. They don't.
Karma: The baddest bitch of all. Sorry, repugs...
Hopefully there are brighter days ahead.
It looks like Webb may have just won and Tester is in the lead with 47% in.
Posted by: Blogger Doe at November 8, 2006 01:16 AM
I missed the latest Webb, what was it?
McCaskill is also leading. Even though a 51/49 split isn't much in the senate, it means that Bush will no longer have a free pass on judicial appointments.

webb is ahead by about 3000 votes so it might be recount time. Please god no dangling chads!
What's going to suck is if Allen winds up winning VA all because of another Greenie! (Parker got 25K which even half of which would've given Webb the win easily)
An analyst on Faux News just basically said that McCaskill will win MO and Tester should easily take MT.
Oh man I just seen the very latest and it has
Webb ahead by 3000 with 99% in.
Webb has declared victory
McCaskill ahead by 25000 with 85% in.
McCaskill has declared victory
Tester ahead by 9000 With 60% in.
No declartion there yet.
Thats all three seats they need if the keep going like this then Dems have the Senate as well!!
This is so great. I don't think I've every read this blog where so many Radical Right Bush Apologists were so quiet. It's going to be a good two years (and then at least 4 more after that when we take the whitehouse!).
By the way... Robert's picks - like just about everything else he ever says - were COMPLETELY WRONG!!!
What an awesome night. I love this country! Webb's lead countinues to grow. He may beat the 0.5% recount margin.
Poor ol' Cox he just cant seem to get anything right, he has got to be so pissed!

oh yeah you are so right! Hell I think I'm going to make this my new home and invite all my friends to come and befor you know it this will be a PRO Keith Olbermann blog! Hahaha That would be so funny!-)
Well, the free recount is .5%, the other is 1%. However, my understanding is that some of the votes won't be counted until tommorrow AND the provisional ballots (which will probably go Webb) will begin to be counted tommorrow.
Hey, I did pretty good. I did have Dems at +18 so I was short on that but except for Allen/Webb and NY26 I got everything else right!
Much better than what: Bobby's getting 2 out of 8 Senate races? (And the easy one's at that)
McCaskill wins
At looks like the Grim Reaper has swung hiis sickle over the head of the beast. Now the impeachment begins, and hopefully by next Fall Bush will be in a re-education camp.

Prob is you can't always be correct, though, then they just try to ignore you. Ever notice that no-one dares to challenge what I say? But, hey, I'm in.
Impeachment would be the worst thing the democrats could do (especially since, even with a majority in the senate, the won't have the votes to convict). Pelosi needs to make an effort to compromise. Then it will be up to Bush and the republicans to work with her or kill any hope of winning in 2008.
YESTERDAY'S PREDICTIONS FROM KURT KISSEL:
HR: +28.
Senate: +6.
Regrettable loss in the HR will be Duckworth, but as we all learned from Cleland, there is nothing a Republican would rather do than trash a Vet. A sweet victory will be Lampson in Texas.
Regrettable win in the Senate will be Liebermann. If voting in Arizona is relatively honest, we just might see Kyl go down, a sustainable loss, to say the least.
KURT KISSEL SHAMES SOLOMON.
oops, today not tommorrow.
Dispite all the dirty tricks by the republicans
The robocalls that keep calling you back until you listen to the whole thing.(of course smearing the Dems)
95% of the rep. ads were negative smear ads.
calling and telling african americans and telling them it would be illegal for them to vote for one reason or other.
Harassing Dem. voters at the polls.
And god knows what else they tried that we dont know about, despite all that they still lost it all! I hope this show the hate-bloggers on this blog that they are in a very very small minority, these war-mongering hate filled bastards are all but alone in the world.
They won't impeach. They will, hopefully, make judicious use of the subpoena power to drop a few people. Then when the evidence starts coming out, they can move up the ranks.
They don't need to impeach and with only two years left there probably won't be enough time to gather the info and then have impeachment proceedings (also don't forget impeachment, as with Clinton, is not actually kicking out but bringing charges by the House). All they need to do is investigate.
I wonder? Can Lieb demand, even as an independent, that he wants to be Senate Majority Leader or else?
I cant believe that Allen was such a coward that instead of conceding he says he was going home to go to bed. it seems clear that he has lost but he just cant face it. What a wimp!
Webbs ahead by 11528 with 99% of the votes in which is right around the 1% and the rest are votes from webb strong holds. so it pretty clear webb has won!
That might be asking a lot, but I'm sure he'll get a choice chairmanship.
LOL. McCaskill just implied that Rush Limbaugh's stupidity on the MJFox ad gave her the victory.
Yea, Rush Limbaugh!
Excuse me I have to go wash my mouth out - bad taste.

The analyst are all saying that the Dems will give lieberman anything he wants to come back and be a dem which he can do he doesnt have to stay a Greenie.
Tester still ahead by almost 8000
Yeah, but the republicans can also offer him anything he wants. However, if he did that, he would never get re-elected.
Chris just told Kieth something to the effect that he was todays Edward R. Murrow take that you Olbyhaters.
If Chris isnt a respectable enough source for ya then your just plain nuts.
Face it Keith is the man!
oh no i just spelled Keith, Kieth now someone is going to jump my shit about my spelling!
Please forgive me oh what will i do?

No. "They" are very silent tonight. Don't be decieved. They will be back tommorow spinning and twirling their way around the truth. Reality is what they make it in their own minds. Get ready for more BS.
At least tonight we own the site. :)

Unlike them, I would be here fighting my ass off against their arogant behinds. Their ego's are so confused right now. They will look for every victory they can get though. Never underestimate them. That is the mistake they just made.
MMMMM ... Is that fresh fried crow I smell ?
I have been looking through the earlier post from tonight and it looks like as soon as results started coming in all the Olbyhaters vanished.
I also noted looking over the post that there is no denying it all the olbyhaters who claim to hate msnbc are watching it ALL THE TIME! Their making comments on every word they say, the looks on their faces the cloths they wear everything. Its crazy! I like MSNBC and of course Keith and I dont even watch it this closly its crazy its like their obsessed with MSNBC which is wierd have you ever hated a tv channel? Whats up with that? Its just a channel on your tv what kind of small minded, simple person hates a channel or a newscaster for that matter? They have some real serious issues here I think they all need professional help.
I used to get so mad about it but now I see how sad their pathetic little lives must be to spend all their time and energy into hating a tv show and a tv channel. I really feel sorry for all the Olbyhaters. Maybe if they could just get a girlfriend or a hobby or if only their moms and dads would have loved them maybe this would be a blog to be proud of instead of what it is. A truly ridiculous and almost completely meaningless blog.
Well Blogger Doe I can tell you as a conservative that I don't hate MSNBC I just hate Olbermann. By the way do you think all your fellow liberals who hate people like Bill O'Reilly or Rush Limbuagh need psychological help too?
Btw, I've noticed MSNBC sent Keith home and let Mathews continue the broadcast. Thank God that embarrassing experiment is over. I hope they learned that kooky-Keith is completely out of his element when not In the comfy confines of his "Countdown" studio reading pre-scripted tripe from the tele-prompter.
Posted by: Blogger Doe at November 8, 2006 03:55 AM
This is something they don't understand. Most people who watch KO don't watch him constantly like Faux News viewers watch Faux. I'm lucky if I am able to watch a full hour in a given week.
Well, it's gonna be awhile for MT so I'm off to bed.
Okay, the Democrats have had a magnificent night. Now, as a conservative should I take a page from the liberal playbook and start screaming about stolen elections? Perhaps I should sink into a terrible depression or pop mass quantities of pills? Maybe plan to move to Europe?
The funny thing is I don't feel like doing any of those things. The Republicans got creamed tonight and I am certainly disappointed but I can't even fathom reacting the way kooky-libs do when they lose.
I guess that makes me rational--something liberals will never, ever be.
Excuse me but is this a Rush watch blog or a O'Reilly watch site no its not. Oh yeah they let Keith go so fast what it was only like 8-10 hours on the air nonstop. It was time for the next part of the show were Chris went and did his Hardball thing with the panel.
As for the whole pre-scripted tripe from the tele-prompter listen carefully ALL NEWS SHOW USE PROMPTERS! I just heard Chris say hey I cant read the prompter from here. And the other day I seen O'Reilly say he had lost track of where he was on the prompter. They all use them thats completely normal. What, do you think all the shows you like they all just make up on the spot what their going to say? That would be dumbass everything you see on tv is scripted or on a prompter! Well maybe not reality shows but who can say.
I am so sick of hearing you obsessed olbyhaters say he would be lost without his prompter my god do you idiots not know how tv works? Give me a break!!!
Well Greg when Gore won the popular vote beating Bush my hundreds of thousands of votes and when his brothers state just happens to be the one that refuses to count all the votes and then the supreme court just gives Bush the presidency befor the recount could be finished. That might just look a little fishy, might just upset any decent person.
But I am damn glad that bush stoled the election when he did I wouldnt want Gore to have been the 9-11 president. Bush will always be know as the president that let us all down and let the terrorist get us.
Blogger Doe, I was referring to the 2004 election, not 2000. When Bush was reelected there was a chorus of "the election was stolen" from all your fringe-kook pals on the left including (no surprise here) Keith Olbermann. He did segment upon segment about it throughout late 2004 and early 2005.
So again, I'm merely pointing out that liberals are irrational idiots who have to attribute any loss to stolen elections or other dirty tricks. Again, you wont here such claims from conservatives because we're not heavy on the psychotropic drugs.
Oh and regarding your moronic tele-prompter statements. Yes, I am well aware that news anchors rely on tele-prompters. No shit Sherlock. However, most good ones can also improvise and go off-the-cuff when needed. Olbermann can't. He absolutely sucks when things are not all scripted out for him. Sorry if your sick of hearing it but its a fact. He was embarrassing bad tonight paired with Mathews. It was painful to watch. He also will never, ever interview anyone who may challenge him because he's the biggest pussy on television. Notice all the interviews went to Mathews while Olby sat in silence.
Here kitty, kitty indeed.

What time did Olby bail out? Because I turned on MSNBC about 5:15 and no sign of Olby, only Chris. Chris was on alone when I tuned in and now he's on with a panel (including Crawford).
I just cant go on! You are all so sad. Codas was right Reality is what you guys make it in your own minds. And nothing a clear thinking, rational minded, decent person ever says will snap you fools out of your crazy obsession with this guy who is just tring to do his job.
I just wish that all the olbyhaters would have someone wacthing their every move and freaking out about everything they say and do. That would be justice!!!
Or wait maybe there is, come check out http://olbermannwatch-watch.blogspot.com/
Its not completely ready but it'll do for now.

It was around 3am I believe.
Thanks!
I'm not sure when Olby officially bailed. I think he just kind of slithered away. Nobody seemed to miss him, especially Mathews. God he was so friggin bad I almost felt for the guy.
I have a feeling Chris, Brokaw, Russert and the rest of the real journalists all laugh behind Olby's back!
I wonder how long it will take the House investigations (possibly the Senate as well - we'll see soon) to get around to identifying the unseemly, innapropriate, and illegal funding connections between the White House and Olbermannwatch?
This administration and many more of their pet Republican legislators are going to go to jail! This is wonderful news.
Fiscal and governmental responsibility are returning to America.
Wow . . . I went to bed in a good mood and woke up in a great mood!
Just here to eat crow. I predicted you Dems would win the house and lose the Senate. Sucks to be a republican today....now I know how you freaks have felt the past 3 elections. So much hope and little results. Enjoy your Wednesday, you and the liberal media earned it. Yet it surely is refreshing to have an election end and not have the Dems whining about fraud. You Dems could learn something about gracious losing from these Republican candidates.
And.... there is a silver lining on everything. Britney is single. I may have to drown my sorrows in her 150 million dollar breasts. Britney, if you are on this blog- call me.
Another silver lining is that now we can blame everything on the Democrats. Especially if a Dem is elected to the Presidency in 2008. Heck, I almost wish for that to happen!!! What would the great Olby-loon write his "special Comments" about?
Btw, are Special comments for special people in the same way the Special Olympics are? I always new Olby's audience was "special? in some way.
Wait and see- the Dems will introduce mimimum wage increases, which will slow the economy. They will repeal the taxes, which will slow the economy. And then they will blame the economy woes on Bush. (By the way Olbyloons, congratulations on the extra 30 cents an hour in your paycheck next month.)
benson,
They said that about the last minimum wage increase...didn't happen...
Know why? Unlike Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy, more money for the poor goes DIRECTLY into the active economy...
blindrat- you know as much about economics as I do about election predictions. The environment is entirely different now.
Nobody is beating McCain in '08, so Republicans will continue to rule the White House.
What is troubling about these 3:00 AM posts from Democrats (since they obviously don't work) is that they don't talk about anything concerning the future. What does the party wish to achieve? Why the jubulation? Again, it's more about being anti-Bush or anti-FoxNews, saying ha-ha, and less about actually accomplishing anything. It's nothing more than a power grab for the blue blogs, and offering true solutiuons is a distant second.
When I awoke this morning and saw the late and early morning posts from the loyal opposition, I was pleasantly surprised. The election results provide much needed ammunition to the left of this country to promote their agenda, and it is right they are happy. Congratulations.
(You knew there would be a "but")
But, I have hope that the far left agenda is not unhindered based on two big results.....
1) Joe Lieberman....I lived in Connecticut previously and voted for Lieberman, and I am a registered republican. Many of my like-minded evangelical friends at my church would always vote for him. He is a fair and kind man who knows what is right. He did not back down in the face of heated opposition to his support of Bush with regards to Iraq. His democratic friends bailed on him and this will affect how he behaves from this point on.
I am so happy the looney left's candidate, the hollow suit, Lamont, lost because it shows reasonable people support an honorable path in Iraq and will not cut and run. Even if the Senate goes d, Joe will not be in lock step with the far left with regards to Iraq, judicial appointments and impeachment. Thank God.
2) My representative, Mike Ferguson, from NJ7 won, although barely, over a very far left candidate, Linda Stender. Mr. Ferguson is not a very dynamic or charasmatic candidate but I agree with his almost 100% with regards to the issues.
If anyone whould like to understand why his win is significant, look at NJ7 and find out the demographics of the district. It runs through all economic, racial and ideological spectra. He barely won, but win he did, against a candidate who made abortion on demand and embryonic stem cell research the centerpiece of her campaign.
The federal government is again divided for the next 2 years. It seems it is the way the country trends. We will see how events beyond our control impact the 2008 election. The responsibility of leadership will totally change the discussion from Bush as despot, to Bush as lame duck. That is the biggest immediate impact of these results.

Oh and did I mention that I am a happy leninite socialist commie pinko fag loving no damn good for nothing pussified I am the Co-duh, I am Cod-ass, I AM THE CODASS, Goo goo ga joob. Ga goo ggo ga joob
Thats why I write such silly hate filled nonsense
I am watching cspan and listening to some serious sour grapes from some pretty hate filled losers. And I am also hearing from some republicans who wanted to kick their party in the ass. And to all those Rebublicans who had the balls to do that, I for one would like to say thank you. You did this country a gteat favour.
The truth is this country wants balance. Extremists on both sides get kicked to the curb eventually. Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfield are extremists. If only this country would have woke up 2 years ago. But make no mistake, the dream is over for Bush.
Heeeeeeeeeeey how is everbody feeling this morning. Today is a great day in America. Democracy won and we voted the bumbs out.We voted for a new direction instead of stay the course.........KO did an awesome job last night and as Chris Matthews said......"Keith, you're thought provoking, you are a modern day Edward R. Murrow.........couldn't have said it any better.
I guess the misinfroming righty tighty wingy loons finally were called out....YOU LIE and the American people will not take your crap anymore.
(SING along to America the beautiful)
codas,
How do the results support what you are saying? Are you discussing extremism with regards to foreign policy, social policy, economic policy....all policy?
The mention of Rumsfeld seems to suggest, as many are saying, the results reflect that the country wants a 180 degree policy shift on Iraq. Two things...
First, Bush and Cheney have said the election results will not impact their Iraq policy.
Secondly, many who agree with the administration on Iraq, Senators and Reps alike, won...like my guy in NJ7.
To call Bush an extremist is not reality based.
...."Keith, you're thought provoking, you are a modern day Edward R. Murrow.........couldn't have said it any better.
*** Chris said that to him right before they booted his pathetic ass off the set right? Keith was so out of place next to real journalists it was painful to watch. He basically sat there like a lump and wasn't allowed to converse w/ anyone. I'll bet Dean wanted Keith to save him from a Matthews.
Btw, rumor has it that Chris muttered "good night and good riddance" when Keith finally left, LOL!!

Thirdly, cee, go look at the election results again and if you look close enough you will see that the public has had enough of Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfield. If getting involved in an endless war with thousands of deaths isn't being an extremist than I don't know what is.
It is not reality based to believe that Bush is going to keep going in the same direction now.
Greg-
Is that another right tighty wingy loon rumor.......poor guy......Matthews doesn't strike me as one who says things he doesn't mean.
KO did a great job...and as for this site...you can officially call yourselves ...yesterdays news.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sour grapes.
We'll see codas with regards to foreign policy changes. Bush has been resolute in the past in fighting for Iraq's feedom and democracy and it seems likely he will continue towards that honorable goal until 1/08.
BUSHYWUSHY...I'd prefer to sing,
GOD BLESS AMERICA
CEE-
Whether you wanna believe this now or later, Bush is a lame duck. He has two years left and thankfully the republicans are no longer the majority. Republican presidential hopefuls in Congress want to show they can work bipartisan and want to have issues and agendas with their name on it in hopes of getting elected. They are going to turn their back on Bush, cause frankly he is a liability. The polls show he is an unpopular president, the war is unpopular as well. The landscape is different when you are unpopular and in the minority then being unpopular and in the majority.
benson,
You disappoint me with that lame response. I give you historical precedence and you give us nothing but wishful thinking in return...
But, I understand, since America woke up last night, you are a little bewildered...

Somehow the idea of being hard headed and too stuburn to change your mind about bad decisions is looked upon by some as a wonderful trait of a great leader. I am sorry to say cee, it is a trait of guy down at the end of the bar who thinks he knows everything but don't know shit. This is a good time to wake up cee. Let the decider sleep in the bed he decided on sleeping in. He painted anyone who had another opinion than his as a terrorist enabler. Now he has to face his enemy, which he alone decided would be his enemy, "The Democrats" and change the course.
Hello? BUSHYWUSHY....
Read my first post.....I called Bush a lame duck.....However, you and I have no idea what will happen in the world in the next two years with regard to terrorism, etc. Also, Bush can still act independently as commander-in-chief in reaction to events. Are you suggesting that Bush has lost his ability to respond to national security threats simply because the republicans lost control of the congress? Look at Clinton's second term for some recent historical perspective!
It wasn't a complete loss for the Republicans- They picked up the Dog Catcher position in the city of Walla Walla.
Again, we'll see, codas. Please continue to return to this site for follow up on Bush. I am confident we will continue to do the right thing despite a set back that has multiple reasons, Iraq only being one factor of many.
Codas, if Iraq was such a big issue, why did Joe Lieberman win?
It wasn't a complete loss for the Republicans- They picked up the Dog Catcher position in the city of Walla Walla.
Posted by: indierik at November 8, 2006 09:48 AM
Ha hahahah ha ha ha. nice.
Cee- you're right, I have no idea what will happen in the next two years. However, what I do know is if he acts independently the Republicans will lose even more ground. See the house controls the funding and purse strings of the war and if they win the Senate which looks more and more like thats going to happen, the Dems have subpoena power. What I'm getting at is, if Bushy wants to play hardball and stay the course, full speed ahead or whatever the flavor of the week quote is , he is going to have an even tougher time. Because if the Dems start subpoening records on military contracts, intelligence and so on..........uh.......Bushy is going to be in a lot of trouble......so it's in his best interest to become nice.........and dare I say....act like a democrat.
Codas, if Iraq was such a big issue, why did Joe Lieberman win?
Posted by: cee at November 8, 2006 09:48 AM
Because he sold out to Republicans who went out of their way to vote for him. He is a republican. Gore lost because of him if you ask me.
>>>>Because he sold out to Republicans who went out of their way to vote for him. He is a republican. Gore lost because of him if you ask me.
*** Gore lost because he's a putz. Don't blame Lieberman. Also, your logic is quite strange. If the Republicans got Lieberman elected then why couldn't they do the same for all the other races? Many dems sitll like Lieberman. It's just the far-left bloggers that through him under the buss but thankfully most Americans aren't that radical.
CEE-
You're right Lieberman did win. The reason he won is Lamont canpaign was solely based on the war......I think voters across America were focused on Iraq however other issues were there as well. Here is my list of what I think voters took into consideration.
Iraq- we know the failures there
Corruption/scandal- Foley, Delay, etc, etc
Economy- No increase in minimum wage(will by the way will not slow the economy)
Domestic issues- Stem cell, abortion rights
Those are some of the issues , I'm sure there is more.

cee, you're pointing to one specific race. Joe Lieb has had A LOT of practice getting the vote out. So if it wasn't Iraq what do you think caused the landslide against the party of Mark Foley?
My same reply....keep returning to OW and we'll discuss it. I predict no dramatic policy changes with regard to foreign policy.
I do predict an over-ridden presidential veto regarding embryonic stem cell research. That's a "no brainer."
But that's about it, people. Bush will remain resolute for victory in Iraq and Afghanistan and the very tight majority in both houses will not allow the democrats total opposition to his policies.....Nibbling at the margins with oversight hearings and press conferences will do little to sway the administration.
Real leverage would have been an election resulting in a fillibuster proof Senate for the dems and a much larger house majority that could easily over-ride presidential vetos. No dice.
Again, look at Clinton's second term.
uh.............(wincing) Gore didn't lose by the way.
Gore lost because he's a putz.
Posted by: Greg at November 8, 2006 09:59 AM
A putz that most Americans voted for. You know damn well the republicans helped finance Lieberman. They voted for him instead their own.

I think you are missing the point...and I'll try one more time.
The war in Iraq...the American people do not want to be there anymore.....
Bush as president- approval rating low..
Republicans just lost the house and the senate...largely because of their support of Bush and the war.(santorum, steele, etc, etc)
There is no benefit to the Republican party to stay the course or full speed ahead. Hopefully, Bush finally listens to the American people and does what is right.
If he wants to veto stem cell the republicans will lose again........the issue becomes way more complex.
As for Clintons second term...his popularity was higher than ever and basically the American people thought it was a witch hunt with the Lewinsky scandal....you keep telling me to look at his second term...why don't you look at the polls!!!
>>>>>uh.............(wincing) Gore didn't lose by the way.
*** Ohhhh, That's right. I keep forgetting you liberal types don't live in reality. 9/11 was an inside job too and Elvis plays tennis w/ Jim Morrison every Thursday.
Greg...........I weap for you.
>>>>>Greg...........I weap for you.
*** I'm not surprised. Liberals generally have a hard time controlling their emotions.
Greg......I will pray for you
SCOREBOARD! SCOREBOARD! SCOREBOARD!
GREG............it's also been known conservative republican men have trouble controling gay sexual urges...do you have this problem as well?
BUSHYWUSHY:
Bush continues to garner 35-40% approval ratings and negative Iraq polls have never made an impact on policy....even during the 2004 Presidential race....Bush has never changed. He won't now.
My reference to Clinton's second term was with regards to his behavior as commander-in-chief. He did what he thought was right....attacked Iraq with cruise missles, etc. Despite another hostle congress, Bush will do the same. Political calculations are also less involved here because Bush and Cheney are not continuing on. New republicans will come forward to run for President, unlike Gore in 2000. Your logic is flawed.
You missed my point about embryonic stem cell research. The large majorities in the congress will be veto-proof and consist of republicans and democrats....the issue is over at the federal level. The democrats will get what they want but lose the issue as an exploitive device.
READ MY POSTS!
Cee-
Negative views on Iraq never mattered before because the republicans ran congress and gave him a blank check to do anything he wanted.
I'm sorry to infrom you but that will not happen anymore. You're right, he has never changed. However if he decides to continue to support the quagmire in Iraq it will make it harder and harder for republicans in 08. He has to show some willingness to work with people and the election last night was pretty much a referendum on Iraq......bottom line if wants to stay the course......the results in 08 will be dem in the white house and a larger majority for the dems in the congress.
Cee-
Also remember...if he keeps staying the course, vetoes bill after bill the dems propose here is what will happen.
SUppoena.......subpoena.........subpoena....
does the President and republicans really want their dirty laundry on military contracts, intelligence, and so on aired to the public two years before a presidential election......it's not about him and his agenda anymore, it's about his party. Coupled with a poor approval rating and lack of public support for the war..he has to play ball
These are issues you can't ignore. These are the issues he will face.
codas,
Your stark partisianship is really showing...I once thought better of you.....
Did you read my post from 8:48am?
I voted for Lieberman back in 2000 for Senate along with many of my evangelical friends. He's a great man who loves God and is honorable. Nothing changed this time around simply because he lost the democratic primary.....Look at previous exit polls....he ALWAYS got support from conservatives as well as normal, non left-wing nutty dems.
I voted for Bush/Cheney in 2000 and was so happy that Lieberman did not become VP because Gore would have marginalized him. He is a great Senator and will continue to serve the nutmeggers well. Lamont can return to kos with his tail between his legs.
Gore, Dodd, Reid, Clinton and the rest of the lefty panderers now have to eat crow and go back to Joe for effective Senate control....he will have a chairmanship for his stand and he deserves it!
Ok WUSHY....we'll see.
Krazy Kris Matthews needs to swallow once in a while, at least it will help him spit less while talking.Eeek Olbermann must have had a long hot shower after the shower.
WRT to the elections, Bush and Cheney will suffer now, funds will be cutoff and real debates will now ensue, they wont impeach Bush though, keep the garbage piling on him till 2008 when they can open the lids and let the suffocated people choose an alternative Democrat for the presidency.
Krazy Keith will certainly work towards meeting that end, slimy sob that he is.

Yes cee. I am partisan. I don't have a tv show or a blog. I am a democrat. Lieberman is not. You say he loves God. I think we have made progress cee. Than you don't believe along with your evangelical friends that you have to be born again. Good cee. I am proud of you. You are correct. A person can love God and not be a born again Christian. Maybe even a Muslim?
I realize the ultra-libs are ecstatic right now, and I guess they should be.
However, they are deluding themselves in this regard. Pelosi's caucus will be much more conservative than she, and they will be concerned about re-election in 2008. The first-term incumbents will be vulnerable in 2 years, and if they are on record as supporting impeachment and the like, they won't be coming back for a 2nd term. Most of them are smart enough to know that, so when push comes to shove, those pushing for the ultra-left agenda will be sorely disappointed.
The Dems won this year not because they embraced the Daily Kos/Michael Moore style of liberalism, but because they appeared to be a moderate, centrist alternative to the hard-right.
If they turn out not to be that, they may be handing the House right back to the R's in 2 years.
What a glorius day... wow.. the humilation you folks must be feeling.. You are lucky that Bush's time was not up last night, because the new president would be Howard Dean... but he can wait two more years... I TOLD ALL OF YOU ABOUT THE GRIM REAPER.... HE LOPPED OFF OF MOST OF THE EVIL BASTARDS HEADS. Power to the People.

when push comes to shove, those pushing for the ultra-left agenda will be sorely disappointed.
The Dems won this year not because they embraced the Daily Kos/Michael Moore style of liberalism, but because they appeared to be a moderate, centrist alternative to the hard-right.
If they turn out not to be that, they may be handing the House right back to the R's in 2
The Dems won because this is worst adminstration in the last 100 years. The way Republicans have Gerry mandered districts this should never have happend.

They did not win cause of that. They won because people want to make sure the president has a check on him. I think people have been concerned that the presidents power along with congress allowing him do anything unchecked has led this country down the wrong path. That and they felt the republicans had become too corrupt with their power stranglehold. It was a vote for change for the sake of change. That is all. The republicans had the power and they screwed it up. It was the only logical choice for the electorate. They will not be asking for impeachment either as it sounds like you wish they would. They will though make Bush accountable for his actions and yes there will be investigations into his handling of the war. Pet projects that waste our taxpayers money and time like the flag burning amendment and gay marriage ammendment will now be burried so we can spend time on things that matter.
codas,
No change here....Christ is there waiting for Joe like he is there for you, codas. Go back to His teachings, codas, with regards to the kingdom and it is clear as crystal.
Mr. Lieberman is a God fearing man unlike the current majority of the democratic party. Remember our discussion about Dr. Dawkins, codas? Colbert (OZ) and Sir Loin are still stalking around ready to pounce on the fairy tale believers. I am an (R) simply because of the fact that the D's have been lead by atheists and agnostics since my adult life and I fear their agenda will slink it's way into the higher levels of power.
So, continue to live in your contradiction, codas. Lieberman at least was honest about his situation and when challenged on his values, changed to an (I). Perhaps you should consider that option?
anon at 12:04pm was me, cee....no surprise there!
Mr. Lieberman is a God fearing man unlike the current majority of the democratic party.

That is a religiously bigoted statement. You do not know the hearts of the people that YOU JUDGE as not God fearing. You place them all together as Godless because it makes you feel superior. It is that very arogance that people are seeing through clearly now.
No, Dupree, I don't hope that the House Dems push for impeachment. My point is that if that is their tact, they will ultimately pay for it (just the like the Republicans paid for it in the 1998 elections.) This is still basically a 50-50 country. In 2004, the electorate swung one way; now it's swung back.
Other than that, I don't think your statement contradicts what I said. The Dems swept because they are seen as more centrist than Bush and the Republicans. I think some of your commentary is over-the-top, but I actually think you're agreeing with my point if you strip everything else away.
Understand this, my personal political leanings aside (once registered Democrat, disillusioned with the party panderings to the far-left, now registed Independent but tending to lean conservative lately),
I work in a political atmosphers. Part of my job is to provide analysis and commentary, so I tend not to get swayed by one election cycle. From a pragmaic POV, the Dems won a big victory last night, but their margin-for-error is very, very thin.
The electorate will judge them in 2 years, and if the Republicans have a McCain or a Guiliani on the top of the ticket, and the country has suffered 2 years of investigations and talk of impeachment, the Dems may find themselves in the minority soon.
It's also hard to even factor what the Iraq situation will be in 2 years. Let's all just hope it's a lot better than today.
I think, if they're smart, that the Clinton-brand of being in the center is what won this time for them; I just don't know if they realize it.
"I think some of your commentary is over-the-top"
Monarch
Commentary..." I think people have been concerned that the presidents power along with congress allowing him do anything unchecked has led this country down the wrong path. That and they felt the republicans had become too corrupt with their power stranglehold."
Look the electorate did what they did for mostly two reasons: Iraq(Bush and congress), ethics(congress). I think my so called "commentary" reflects exactly what the electorate thinks accodring to the polls and especially according to how they voted. If you want to call it over the top it is becasue you still can't admit to yourself that yes your president has done a bad job and your party(I assume) has done an even worse job.
At least I got to vote on banning fag marriage in the state of SC. Wer are heading for the bIll Clinton days, get the shit knocked out of us and turn the other cheek. The terrorist are winning. They have us on the run and they know it. The attacks will increase and expect one on our shores soon. Maybe Pelosi and Reid can win over the terrorist with cookies and cake.

I am so glad that a racist bigoted homophobic pig loving goofball mind like yours got kicked in the ass last night. You truly deserve it. Do you want us to get attacked now? You probably because being right to you is all that matters. Good freaking ridance to your fake heroes. Maybe you should lay off the cookies and cake and you won't be so miserable.
Brick- the terrorists are winning because cowards, like yourself, live in fear of them.
Your entire post is a giant, whiney rant. Go tell the folks in that liberal (sarcasm) state of Ohio that the economy is booming. (200K manufacturing jobs gone in the Buckeye state)
And how funny it is to hear you talk about faith and then throw in the hate word "fag". Guess what, Brick? God loves fags as much (argueably more) than you. What a disgusting hypocrite you are. Go dial 911 and call yourself a WAAAAAMBULANCE.
Ok, Dupree...don't bother to actually read or comprehend what I'm writing. (Your "I assume" comment demonstrates that you haven't read what I wrote since I clearly identifed myself as a registed Independent.)

codas,
I went to a town hall meeting Mr. Lieberman held in 1999. He publically pronounced his faith in Jehovah and decried the religious bigotry the left-wing of your party espouses. He has always made his love of God a large part of his service to our country. I base my observation on his testimony and his life. He is orthodox and does not hold to Yeshuah....that is his choice and I respect his choice as I do you and everyone else.
You, codas just do not seem to understand what it means to express faith in God. It is not about "spirituality" like liberals like to call it. It is recognition that we are accountable to God, an actual being. No bigotry here. I am the one constantly told my beliefs are foolish, childish or wrong. The atheists show their true heart in the words the use, the profanities they use and their worldview. Go check out the debate Colbert (OZ) and I have had for the last two weeks in the archives....10/23/06

In this country, ones religion should guide ones choices, but remain private for the most part. The ones that speak the loudest of their religious piety sometimes wind up being the ones who later step down in disgrace. You say you respect peoples choice of religion and then say "It is not about "spirituality" like liberals like to call it. It is recognition that we are accountable to God, an actual being. No bigotry here." Why cant you respecr someones spirituality like you respect Liebermans religion? Ah ha. Lieberman is a not a liberal. No partisanship there.
Well, whatizname, there you go again. You are so clever and original. I'm fairly certain you can recognize your own words below:

Rik and Codas were perturbed by my quoting Ronaldus Magnificus. Only because it lacked creatively.
Now you are mimicking me quoting RR. I would be honored if this had been done by a cleverer man than you. As it is, ho hum.
Wow, you must be a tad nondescript if the rest of your comment above represents the worst that you have been accused of. Not an 'evil', 'stupid', 'inbred', 'imbecile' etc in the bunch.

Listening to Bush is like having teeth pulled. Please get it over with. More novcain please.
Janet, you're not worth debating since you predicted a GOP sweep. Are you gonna quit being a parrot now?
So much for magnanimous victory. Allen is taking a page from the Gore playbook. I for one encourage his right to a recount. It is more important that all the votes are counted properly, despite the outcome.
codas,
Lieberman is a liberal when it comes to abortion, embryonic stem cell research and social programs. Despite his poor record on abortion, I still voted for him and still would vote for the man! In fact, he was the only one I donated money to this round....$25.00...money is tight.
Joe Lieberman is an honorable man. He is not pious, he is humble.
You are just mad codas that a republican actually can be a free thinker and evaluate someone beyond the (d) and the (r) or the conservative vs. liberal tags. You seem to have a problem in that area, as do the netroots lefties who supported Lamont. Lamont lost BECAUSE he was a liberal. Lieberman won because people respect his character and he has principles...including supporting the war in Iraq and against militant islamic terrorism.
Rumsfeld is out...
Now he can go back to doing what he does best: Selling nuclear reactors to North Korea...
Bush has nominated his pooch "Barney" for the S of D position. Reason: He's more qualified than Laura.
as Robert Duvall said in Apocalypse Now,,, " I love ths smell of resignation in the morning, it smells like victory "
To all on this site, the balance of power in the legislative branch has shifted. How far and fast left is yet to be determined. Time will tell.
The party closest to my assessment of the best direction this country should take has lost a legislature that was more atune to implementing what I consider the best course. And that means that I will continue to strive towards what I consider best for the country.
Meanwhile, the NEW congress will occupy the catbird seat.
My hope is that they will not make an 180% turn and put the medal to the pedal. We will all know soon enough.
We will all have a better perception as events unfold in the future.
I definitely have concerns about domestic policies. But I am a two issue deal breaker voter. And the first ten issues for me are : Defense and Terrorism; Defense and Terrorism; Defense and Terrorism; Defense and Terrorism; Defense and Terrorism. It would be hard to opine on the merits of minimum wage if we are under the thumb of a foreign government or foreign ideology.
I sincerely hope that whatever new direction we take will at best be an improvement and at worst not too harmful.
The thing that I fear the most is a vacuum in Iraq that will lead to a muderous hostile middle east. My soul recoils from the picture of a supersized Arabian Peninsula providing the legitimacy of nation states and the ability to put a stranglehold on the entire world's energy resources.

3-1. STILL A GENIUS AND WILL BE MUCH SOUGHT AFTER AS THE R'S REORGANIZE FOR 2008. YES, I THINK HE LEAVES THE WHITE HOUSE WITHIN 12 MONTHS.
Dick Cheney(the evil empororer look like is a lunatic)

50-1. JUST WON RE-ELECTION; NOT LIKELY BUT WOULD BE NO LOSS.

10-1 LONG SHOT, BUT NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION. ACADEMIA OR RUNNING FOR OFFICE ON HER OWN COULD DRAW HER AWAY.

TIE-DYE, NO DOUBT.
Monarch-
Almost post..........good job......seriously the tie-dye comment is priceless......however you may want to reconsider the Cheney thing....the republicans may want a new face in the administration and make people feel comforatable when the election comes along.
Almost...meant awesome......trying to type while running a business
Hey, if we can't laugh about these clowns we elect, who can laugh about? One thing the D's and R's have in common: they both give us a huge amount of material.
As for Cheney, I don't think his sticking around impacts 2008. Seriously, I think the only way he resigns is for health reasons.
2008 will depend on those who are on the ticket. As best I can tell, yesterday was a good omen for centrists on both sides, and names like Clinton, Obama, Guiliani and McCain will be the talk of the day.
That's what I was talking about earlier in this thread. If you look at it closely, the D's were successful by moving to the center. Webb and Casey, for example, are not exactly hard-left wingers.
If nothing else, George Allen has now been scratched from 2008 contender list, and that's not a bad thing, imho.
Monarch- good points...I think you can scratch Kerry off as well......I think people realize what he said was a joke......but he still looked bad and people won't remember what he meant but what he said.
Also a few names to remember for the Dems around the election in 08.......Bill Richardson, governor of New Mexico.......and something tells me Gore will run....I think Hillary will be content with being the leader of the Senate and a Gore/Obama ticket is intriguing....and don't forget about Dean......he looks very favorable to the party right now.

Uh in any of the posts in our conversation you never identified yourself as an independent so yes I bothered to read what you said. I said (assume) as a way of figuring you are republican since you never identifed your it yourself. Look you said this, "The Dems won this year not because they embraced the Daily Kos/Michael Moore style of liberalism, but because they appeared to be a moderate, centrist alternative to the hard-right.
If they turn out not to be that, they may be handing the House right back to the R's in 2 years." which to me was incorrect according to what they electorate said. They didn't care about left vs right politics which is what you are talking about. They cared about change, putting something in place to check the president and to punish congress for being so horrible these past few years as well as corruption. That is not a left vs right situation. This is a judgement on the jobs of those who hold power. So I do not think I am agreeing with your point if I "strip everything else away." which I think you are talking about with my "over the top commentary".
O' I love these Olbyloons who trot Keitho out as their hero. "Keitho is great." "Keitho stands up to these guys." Spare me, he is the queen coward among you all! If he was so great and powerful he would debate one of those hated righteys. But never. His scripted on-his-high-horse rants would be exposed by nearly any republican in a face-to-face battle. And pathetic Keitho worshippers like Madame Coward Watch would cringe as their paper tiger was wadded up and flicked away within minutes. Some day soon Keitho will be called out of hiding behind his desk where he is flanked by his favorite yes men he loosely calls 'experts.' And that is the day OlbermannWatch will be vindicated, for methodically exposing his flaws. Its the day he actually attempts to debate an opposing thought. And that day will be exactly one week before he pops up on "Surreal Life 7." Or sooner.
Codas, Codas, Codas, there you go again. The Dem's victory in regaining control of the legislative branch will not transfigure you into a knowledgible, reasoned, logical man or debater. You said:
"When you take a position instead a bunch of goobly gop maybe I can debate you.
Posted by: codas at November 8, 2006 01:34 PM"
Do you really want to throw the phrase a' bunch of goobly gop' around. Oh, my mistake, 'Goobly GOP'. A pun. I would not have thought you capable.
Codas, let me remind you of some exchanges we had in the past. These are the responses to you I made to a small part of your dissertation re your beliefs:
=========================================
"They are against social programs because the next thing we know we will become like Godless Russia and kill all the Christians.
- Am I to infer from this that you are for social programs because you are dedicated to keeping christians alive?
==================
At last you got to a statement of what you are against and for, in that order.
You are against:
====================
I am against killers in high positions of authority disguising themselves as Christ lovers
- Again, this statement is confusing. Are you against ALL killers in high office or only those who pretend to be Christians?
====================
Finally, you made a statement of what YOU are for:
====================
I am for the constitution.
- Well, hot damn, we agree!
====================
I will say again that you are FOR NOTHING and AGAINST EVERYTHING. The entire post disclaiming that is a refutation of your own position."
==========================================
Part of your response:
"Janet, your just too much for me. I am just a amature who can barely spell. I know full well that I could never win a debate with you at least in your mind. You, like Cecelia are very good at this. I am learning. I have slowly learned not to feel insulted by someone who disagrees with me. I am trying to figure where I stand on certain things but that is one of the things that will always seperate me from what I at least consider a republican way of seeing our country. I could never be as sure of my positions as you are."
Well there you go again,
When you take a position instead of a bunch of goobly gop maybe I CAN debate YOU.
Codas, reflected glory is as cold and unsatisfying as a weak winter sun.

PS Still waiting to read your response to earlier posts. Come on, Rik. Big bad Rik vs poor old Grammie.
Dupree:
Well, congrats then. You own me. I guess it's easy for you to convince yourself of that when you don't read the posts, then when called on it (talk about getting owned) misinterpret it and make a silly assertion. When someone says they are independent but lean conservative, that means just that.
If I was a Republican, I would say so. It's no crime. However, I can't ever imagine joining the party. I do think it is too willing to divide people over issues of race and economic status.
Unfortunately, that's a trait the Dems have picked up the last 10 years.
I was a Democrat, and if the party ever returned to the values that I raised to honor, I might be again. But with Pelosi and Dean in charge, I doubt it.
So, be happy. In your happy little world, you own me.
But don't misinterpret my failure to respond to any more of your trolling posts as any concession. I won't waste any more bandwidth on you.
The Monarch
Speaking of not reading. The only thing you can say to me is "I'm an independent" and that I don't read but in all honesty it is you who are not reading. You're the one who end's their post with "next...". Talk about being flippent. When someone deos it to you you take the high ground. In any event my point was I do disagree with your take on the elections as being a left vs right thing. You never responded to that though. You just keep saying "I'm an independent". Who really cares.
Bushywushy:
I don't think Hillary would be content to lead the Senate. I don't think Hillary would be content with anything other than being President in 2009.
Gore is a sleeper. I'm not a fan anymore. In 1988 primary season, I attended a debate with him and the other candidates just before the NY primary. He was great in that debate, and impressed me. I'm not as impressed anymore, but he did legitimately win the popular vote in 2000. That alone makes him formidable.
Kerry's ship sailed. Richardson is viewed as a B-list candidate, but would be a solid VP nominee. Although it would be refreshing if a candidate like Richardson could move ahead of the usual suspects.
With Allen taking a hit, the hard-right will be scrambling for that vote. I think (and hope) the opportunity opens for McCain and Guiliani.
I have no doubt you don't want to debate me.

Not to gloat, but I must say since I have been coming to this site I anticipated this wonderful day of atonement for all the slings and arrows and all the turning of the other cheek from so many totally convinced in their own mind, die hard, down in the woods, full tilt, %100, all out Bush loving republican but not conservative, call me guilty of the murder of all stalins killings because I am a no good liberal and this country hates liberals, well guess freaking what guys you who were thrown out on your ass you are so out of the mainstream now and may you NEVER have the power that you abused EVER EVER EVER again.

I am open to the reasoned arguments of others. However, the garbage that flows from some on this site somehow just doesn't measure up. An example from this page:
"my new girlfriend Grammie I'm hoping I can put the love for all Dems. 'In her' once weve consummated our union >;-)"
And several days ago a KO fan requested someone's daughter for several hours so that he could fill her with his seed.
If this is what you want to embrace, be my guest. If you favor your mind and soul swilling in the sewer, who am I to deny you. Have fun.

"Their is joy in mudville make no mistake about that. Your decider has no options left but to call for his other father now. A man who I have come to have some respect for. A man who the decider thought was weak will clean up after him again. You will continue on as evilly and stupidly placing yourself above it all while inside you know the truth as well as I. Poppa to the rescue."
Huh?
Makes you wonder if a pre-requisite for being an Olbermann fan means you see all oposition as cardboard cut-outs. what better reasoning for arguing that it's not important to allow balance on Countdown. But then too, I suppose, it could chiefly be wishful thinking that has resulted in disappointment that every Olbermann Watcher isn't poised with knife at wrist because their politicians plowed.
Did any Olbermann Watcher here argue that political opponents should be lying prostrate and moaning "we're not worthy" in '00 or '04, or did we pretty much think they'd continue on with the same principles they had and wait for the pendulum to swing, as it always does.
At one point I would have attributed Cymbalta's view of politicians uber ales-- to youth-- but I've learned from being here awhile that rooky mindsets and expectations and juvenile rantings (O'Liely come to mind...) are not the sole perogative of adolescence among Olbermann's fans.
Janet, you said,
"I don't judge myself by the actions and opinions of others." Those are good words. I think you keep your head here pretty well. I only called you a mad bitch because I think you take that as a compliment if it comes from the right place in your mind. I respect your opinions and your answers though I disagree with a lot of them. cecelia could use your wisdom in dealing with people who disagree with her. I have been here for a while and it wouldn't take much thought to figure under what name. I bet you know. cecelia hates me for some reason. Oh well.
Cymbaline, do I interpret the following from your post above correctly:
======================
"I only called you a mad bitch because I think you take that as a compliment if it comes from the right place in your mind."
=====================
You are lady rump of lamb?
If so, you have a strange sense of humour and an even stranger, some might say, perverted sense of honor.
Whoever you are, do me a favor. Keep your twisted sense of praise to yourself.
