On Thursday night's Hour of Spin, Keith Olbermann lifted a Democrat talking point straight off the blue blogs. To blunt the impact of John Kerry's embarrassing comments, Olby resorted to the tu quoque fallacy to point the finger at a Republican. The fun began when Keith tried out his talking points on his expert guest, the frequently invited Thomas Ricks.
Here is a QuickTime video of the exchange. Note how KO sets it up: John Boehner, who made a statement about generals in Iraq, is said by Keith to be "insulting US troops". Boehner is "throwing the troops under the bus". Even though Olbermann did not quote Democrats, Ricks immediately spots Keith's words as Democrat talking points and flatly contradicts Citizen Keith. KO foolishly tries again, and for a second time Ricks definitively stops the spin. (Minutes later Krazy Keith would suggest again that Boehner insulted "the generals and the troops", something that Ricks specifically said Boehner did not do.)
This Olby guy is all green....even his hair...what gives???
It seems to me this website is doing the spinning. First you lay out what is happening "On Thursday night's Hour of Spin, Keith Olbermann lifted a Democrat talking point straight off the blue blogs."
Like this board doesn't use the talking points from the right to argue positions.
"Ricks immediately spots Keith's words as Democrat talking points and flatly contradicts Citizen Keith."
Really, how do you know what is going on in Ricks head? He doesn't even mention anything like "these are democrat talking points", he just responds to the question with a answer that and yes it does not agree with the premise of Olbermann's question. WOW! You guys are really on to something. Give me a break. Interpreting actions of someone sitting in a chair as a basis to prove your point is the definition of "spin".
"KO foolishly tries again, and for a second time Ricks definitively stops the spin"
Yes he rephrases the question and he is given the same answer from Ricks because it is the same question! Damn you guys are good. You should go work for the government helping the CIA or FBI interpret intelligence.
"Minutes later Krazy Keith would suggest again that Boehner insulted "the generals and the troops", something that Ricks specifically said Boehner did not do.)"
So only what Ricks says is considered correct? Olbermann in no way can disagree with him? I watch O'Reilly disagree with his guests all the time and then resort to putting out the same opinion again later in the show. Is that really a big deal. NO! It's his show.
You guys can criticize Keith all you want but don't let it get in the way of realizing that you spread the propaganda from the right here just as thick as Keith Olbermann spreads propaganda from the left.
Never saw a talking green d-bag before
Never saw a talking green d-bag before
too me it seems as if the republicans are of the "pass the buck" train of thought. First you have republicans criticizing Rumsfeld, then passing the buck to the generals (who are supposedly passing the buck to the troops) Wouldn't it be a fair analogy to blame the ones at the top rather the ones IN Iraq? This site just puts a spin on the truth to convince themselves that they can win a war of ideologies.
Please disregard my statements above. I am an idiot.
No wonder the area around Imus' set on MSNBC this morning looked so ragged -- he said it was because the network was building a special set for Tuesday's election coverage, but obviously, Keith threw an ubertrantrum following Thursday night's show.
Crazy Keith is supposed to be an "objective journalist". That's why it's bad if he is just reading from the Democratic talking points.
Those of us who comment on his rantings of our own accord do not have to be objective. Nobody is paying us to be here.
Keith asked Ricks to "give us a reality check" and got just what he asked for. Every time Keith was teased or beaten in school, every time he was rejected by a girl, every time he tried to play sports but was a miserable failure -- all of this comes out at once when he gets slapped in the face with the truth. He has a sour puss that would out-sour all other sour pusses at moments like that. Poor Katy must have to pay the price for Rick's insolence.
Will someone please do a story on Olby's "early days"? You know, the days in which he watched instead of played, never got the girl, and cowered in fear from the blows issued by the very people he now loves to hate?
Alone in his never-finished, already decaying anchor desk, aloof, seldom visited, never photographed by Page 6 of the NY Post, “Citizen Keith” continued to direct his falling empire ... vainly attempting to sway through “Special Comment” and other dirty tricks as he once did. The destinies of a left-wing moonbat nation that has ceased to listen to him ... ceased to trust him...
I'm afraid I don't see what's so stupid or evil about Olbermann's performance. He lets Hicks make his point, and we as the audience are not told what to think (as we would likely be if this were O'Reilly or Hannity).
I am the publisher of the "Meltdown". As such, it is my duty - I'll let you in on a little secret, it is also my pleasure - to see to it that decent, hard-working people of this city are
not robbed blind by a group of Republicans. God help them, they have no one to look after their interests! I'll let you in on another little secret, I think I'm the man to do it. You see, I have Dan Abrams backing me now - I'm Citizen Keith Olbyloon.
Nice freeze frame. No spin here. What a crock.
Uberdouche goes down! Watching him try and weasel out of it by making Boehner's remarks out to be less pointed than they were was priceless. Hahahahaha!
This might be off topic, but I gotta ask:
Why are so many of the Olby defenders running under the "Anonymous" tag, and posting without any actionable identification? It's not like it costs money to throw up a blog, and if you really believe in the force of your words, why not stand in the public square and defend them there?
Why act as just another two-bit troll? You believe what your saying, right? So why all this playing "hit and hide under a rock"?
I gotta be green
TC, why are you acting as a two-bit troll? We'll post as whomever we like. What does it matter if one uses a fake name or not in an anonymous world? The name of the commenter does not affect the content or quality of the comment. You bitch and moan to amuse yourself and be annoying just like your hero Olby.
Well, TC, I post uner my legal name and add the name that family, neighborhood kids and their parents call me.
I have been accused of being:
"a fat balheaded republican guy". I'm not even fat - still wear a size 10.
"an indoctrinated Karl Rove plant" Huh?
"a very old woman who parrots her backwaters husband's stupid opinions" This by the same guy who thought I am a fat bald......". You can look him up in the phone book. His name is Coward Watch.
"a fundy Christonazi inbred racist" Gee, and I'm a non practicing Catholic that agnostic applies to the closest. And that inbred part, I swear I don't know how that got out. My father/brother swore it was a secret.
So, what is your gripe again?
Oh hell, who cares anyway. Not me.

Nice to see KO get KO'd by his own stupid rhetoric.
I'm guessing it doesn't taste quite as good the second time down.
So we have an occasional voice of sanity in the form of Keith Olberman, and now one time he get's owned (in your opinion) and it's the fall of KO. For the sake of this country I hope not.
Someone has to act as a voice crying in the wilderness of Republican spin and rhetoric, and try to filter the BS out of the insanity being spewed from Washington.
Nice to see he's made enough of an impression to warrant a "watch" website in his honor. Please watch, and make as many others watch as well... you might learn something.
