Olbermann Watch, "persecuting" Keith since 2004

    December 18, 2006
Olby Demands 400% Raise from MSNBC

Broadcasting and Cable is reporting MSNBC's Olbermann Seeks Big Raise

    MADMAN

Olbermann and MSNBC are knocking heads over a new contract. The controversial host of Countdown With Keith Olbermann is said to be seeking "north of $4 million" a year, according to an industry source, to re-up on his pact that comes due in April. That would represent roughly a four-fold increase over his current deal, believed to be in the $1 million-per-year range.

Vote in our new online poll (see right rail): "How much is Keith Olbermann worth to MSNBC?"

Question: How much is Keith Olbermann worth to MSNBC?

    - $4 million a year sounds about right
    - $1 million a year, his current contract, was fair
    - Keith is priceless, give him whatever he wants
    -Keith is worthless, fire him

Previous Question: How did KO do as Election Night co-host?

The correct answer was "C. Terrible, a fish out of water"

    Summary:

    8,051 answers have been submitted.

    A. Great, our Edward R. Murrow 88% (7120 votes)
    B. OK, no harm, no foul 1% (137 votes)
    C. Terrible, a fish out of water 4% (324 votes)
    D. No idea, did not watch MSNBC 5% (470 votes)

I bet Chrissy Matthews will have a fit if they give it to him...after all he was MSNBC led liberal Bush basher long before KO hit the scene with them....but smart move KO ask for more money from a network already making cuts because of loss revenues.

Gee Robert, just going by your own figures above, it looks like KO did 'great' to me. You said the 'correct' answer was 'C', but it seems to me that how he would be a matter of opinion, not fact.

Your newest poll seems to be missing a question.

Typical Mike...he knows the poll was rigged by some nerdy Olbermann computer hack (it changed drastically overnight by some program that voted for the same pro-Olby result over and over), but he still sees things that only fit his pontificating agenda.

Since you bring up the election night again, I was confused what Keith is doing there. Either Keith is doing a sports show and Chris is the co-host or Chris is doing a political show and Keith is just like a sideline reporter. In politics, Chris is on top of a ladder, and Keith, I give him some credit of doing “news” for quite some time, a little bit above the ground. Vice versa, in sports, Keith is on top of a ladder, and Chris is somewhere a little bit above the ground. Keith admitted himself that he cannot call a baseball game, we all know he knows baseball from the first day he was born. That is. He is just lost when there is no script, no well-prepared comment for him to read. He is definitely a teleprompter studio guy.

Regarding 4 millions a year, 4 millions for his special comments, I don’t think NBC and MSNBC can afford to lose him now and a coming big election in two years. Besides, he won’t go to CNN, how many times he has been there, for CNN will not give him that much freedom to do his show and let him do a radio sports show every day. I think it is too much to ask for 4 millions just for his special comments. Besides, his ratings are not steady even though it is up recently. MSNBC should not, and himself, just compare with the ratings that he had before, of course it is up, or he has already long gone, they should look at the big picture, how many viewers that the show can grab from the overall cable viewers. I think it is a little crab, ok , I give him an Alaskan King crab, in the Atlantic Ocean.

    Mike,

I think you misunderstand the Olbermann Watch Polling Service. We believe in absolute not relative truth. There is always a correct answer (in this case "C"). There are also answers selected by readers.

The survey is not designed to determine the answer but to see how many people know the right answer.

In this recent survey, 324 voters got the right answer; 7,120 voters got the wrong answer (not surprising since they were obviously OlbyLoons and therefore not terribly bright).

    See how that works?

Oh no, he is only making 1 Mil now, does Katie know that, oops.

    Robert:

Oh, I see. You see your opinion as "absolute truth". Those with other opinions are just "not terribly bright". Come to think of it, that does seem to be the sole premise this personal attack site is based on.

It must be wonderfull to know all things!

By the way, I didn't even vote in that 'poll'.

    Mike:

I think this site is called, let me make sure I get it right too, "Olbermann Watch".

He's not worth four cents let alone four mil a year. And at a time that the entire NBC family of networks has had to make huge cutbacks? Just goes to show you the very high opinion this a--hole has of himself. And for what? A show that can only come in fourth and even fifth on some nights? I think the only reason he's gotten the ton of PR he has lately is because he's paid dearly to get it from some PR flunkie to increase his profile at contract renegotiation time. Probably why all of a sudden he's crowing about having a live-in girlfriend after 25 years of never discussing his personal life. Probably an attempt to make himself look normal and get some good PR after very bad publicity concerning his sleeping with fans slate of bad PR. What a calculated, egotistical, self-serving bastard this man truly is. If MSNBC reups his contract under these terms, they deserve whatever he gets when he flakes out on them just as he's done on every other employer he's ever had.

Publicity stun, how many times he has done this bashing celebs on this in this show. He and his girlfriend are using each other, the Young and the Restless in New York City.

    Mike-
this is not a personal attack site...

it is a professional & personal attack site - he is foremost ripped on how he attempts to be a professional journalist witha sprinling of personal attacks

    Keith's a Fraud:

It's called "negotiation", you nitwit. You demand a loaf of bread, then settle for a few slices.

There's no way that KO will get $4 million given NBC's current situation, but by asking for that when the newtork counter-offers in the $1.5 million range, he'll take it and the network will think it "won".

You don't seem to get that someone at NBC-Uni leaked this story and did it to make KO look like the greedy bastard he truly is. That means he and his agent must be playing hardball with the network and the network is fighting back, pointing out that they are in a tough spot financially, and trying to embarrass Olbermann in the process. And I guess you must be psychic if you know what dollar amount Olby is willing to settle for. Either that or you're KO, his "girlfriend", his agent or his PR agent. And God have mercy on you if you're any of the four.

Well he does have the #1 Show on MSNBC. So why not $4 Million? But then again, where else would Keith go? CNN? Fox?

Big bro! Only for your new sites!!!!

AC and Paula Zahn make $2 mil a year. What the hell makes Olbermann worth double that? And to ask 4 times what he's making now? Let me ask you this: in your job could you walk in to your employer and ask for 4 TIMES your salary the next time your salary comes up for negotiation? I didn't think so.

I may have to put off my seeing a psychiatrist about my obsession with Olby and his loony fans because my Viagra bill is a little too high at the moment.

Really 2:39, you're so unoriginal that you can't even come up with your own name?

And if that's the best insult you can hurl at me, LOL, I've heard far worse.

You do know that Cox can see IPs and knows who you really are and more importantly, who you aren't?

Really, AC and Paula Zahn only make that much. AC travels a lot, around the world, he went to N and S Korea border one time. I don't get it, what makes KO to ask for 4 Mil by reading from teleprompter and running tapes and have the same guests every night and bashing Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, etc. and not even going to New Orlean and his staff do all the work.

To the 'Real" KO's a Fraud:

Thats right, run to 'Mommy' Cox! He'll save you!

4 Million?.....really, for what he does? He really asked for 4 million dollars a year?

Oh my, the man is delusional!

Anonymous: "Thats right, run to 'Mommy' Cox! He'll save you!"

Or you could be a real pussy and post as Anonymous. ;-)

I don't need anyone to protect me, particularly when it's from inferior intellects such as Mike or Anonymous.

So back to the discussion: Olbermann wants four million a year. But what will MSNBC get for that?

An anchor who refuses to have anyone on who doesn't parrot his position. Someone who refuses to go on location. Someone who didn't do a single extra hour during the last election cycle when people like Chris Matthews were doing up to three-four hours per day, on-air.

And how does Keith repay his employers? By insulting them in interviews. Dan Abrams? Never heard of him! No idea what he even does.

And there are the bimbo eruptions surrounding Olbermann. And oh yes, lest we forget, the emails and interviews where he insults both his coworkers and those who made the mistake of emailing him.

And he thinks he deserves 2 million more a year than AC who risks his life constantly to get the story and who does an hour more of television per night than Olbermann?

Maybe all the Cialis and Viagra that Olbermann has popped has stopped blood flow to his brain?

I know folks who work for MSNBC... or more accurately, WORKED for MSNBC...

They could have sure used some of that 4 million to, you know, eat and live... I guess Olby is more important than the little guy... how very progressive of him.

Shall we all email CNN to raise AC and Paula Zahn pay rate to 4 Mil?

One more thing, AC writes the show.

Olbermann used to but apparently has been farming it out for the last year or so.

Yes, I know, that is why his show quality is declining.

What should Chris Matthews ask for? MSNBC cannot afford to lose him either, he is the only real political guy there. He works so hard, more than 12 hours on the eleciton night. He is the star. And I just find out he is a diabetic and he was not feeling well lately. I hope MSNBC is not trying to kill him, work him so hard.

Hmmmm.... is it KO that keeps spamming the comments section with the porn links? (maybe he's full of holiday cheer?)

It could be Katie or KO is taking too much Cealis and Viagra.

Ok, so aside from the basic facts that things like, say.. losing Habaes Corpus and losing sight of wtf constitutes torture, which of course no one else is reporting on... What is it about KO that has you guys so obsessed? BTW, unvetted rumors stated as exact percentage points in headlines do not lend one any journalistic credibility. You may not have known that.

And Olbermann didn't do a single extra hour during that last election cycle even though he himself admitted the network asked him to. Matthews at the same time was doing 2 or 3 hours a day extra. But Olby couldn't manage to do his call-in on his little sports radio show and do an extra-hour on air? Anderson Cooper does two hours every single night. Exactly what does he think he does that is so special that MSNBC needs to pay him 4 mil a year for? What's he going to do for them in return? Get into another email scandal? Run off with an underage girl? Insult them again in interviews? Attack another coworker?

Oh please. Haebus Corpus is alive and well. But you wouldn't know that since you made the mistake of watching Olby and listening to his BS on the subject, straight from the liberal blogs and websites who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about on that subject. but since when has reporting the truth ever been Olbermann's primary concern?

I think KO laid a pretty good, well articulated, and detailed case as to how Habeus Corpus has been damaged with the recent bill that was passed.

You can't change the facts by simply denying them. Bush clearly has convinced Congress that there is a legitimate need to curtail rights and freedoms in order to fight terrorism. I disagree.

Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. "Those who would give up liberty for security deserve neither"!

Reruns of something called Deal or No Deal on CNBC routinely beat the living hell out of Odormoronn's own gameshow, but Dan Abrams may be the sole living idiot who "thinks" that Odormoronn's abysmal ratings merit a raise.

Nah,, Keith is not worth 4 mill a year,, but he is worth a hell of a lot more than anyone on Faux or CNN.

Ok, let me get this straight.....

    FOUR MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR?

4 mil for a third rate cable news show that is on for one hour? The guy goes no where....sits in his studio playing recorded segments and talking with pathetic analysts and unknown talking heard.

I have one thing to say directly to Keith Olbermann.....

"You, sir, are not worth four million dollars a year!"

    Yikes! Four million?

    Only in (fascist) America.

Speaking hysterical nonsense to power has its rewards, I guess.

What most of you pinheads have left out is that Olby's ratings in the all-important 25-54 demographic have been 75% higher than last year, and that he's neck-and-neck with Orally in that demo. Ratings =$. BTW how much does Orally get?
Actually, this is just another sign that you guys are watching the long-awaited decline and fall of the red empire.
    My condolences.
    -pablo

No citizen of America or legal resident in this country has had his or her habeas rights affected in any way by any legislation passed over the past five years.

    None. Nada. Zip.

The scare tactics are getting tiresome guys.

And look at those poll numbers......"ANYTHING HE WANTS" is up to 10%!

Robert, is there anyway to know how some Olbermann apologist is skewing these obviously erroneous results?

What most of you pinheads have left out is that Olby's ratings in the all-important 25-54 demographic have been 75% higher than last year, and that he's neck-and-neck with Orally in that demo. Ratings =$. BTW how much does Orally get?

"You don't seem to get that someone at NBC-Uni leaked this story and did it to make KO look like the greedy bastard he truly is."

What would be the purpose? If they wanted to dump him, they would just choose not to renew his contract. NBC gains nothing by leaking this.

If he and his agent are playing hardball, then it's because they think they are in a position of strength. Rita Cosby and Tucker Carlson are likely on their way out (that was forteold by canning Cosby's show and slotting Tucker opposite the national newscasts), and Joe Scarborough may also be shown the gate (and if he is, his shows have definitely moved away from "hard news"). That leaves Chris Matthews and KO at the top of the heap. If KO walks, MSNBC doesn't have the money or clout to "reinvent" itself again.

"And I guess you must be psychic if you know what dollar amount Olby is willing to settle for."

No, I'm not pyschic. But the general rule of any negotiation like this is to ask for way more than you're willing to take.

Odd demand, considering both Keith's ratings in the 8 p.m. EST slot and the fact that MSNBC has been hemmoaging money like an Ebola victim for over a decade. Assuming the negotiations are being leaked by Olbermann's people, either they've been reading too many of their own press clippings, and really believe he's worth $4 million to the troubled network, or they're trying to pull the same type of stunt agents for folks like Katie Couric (or in an earlier day, Dan Rather) pulled to get their salaries boosted, by pitting one network against another. Of course, for this to work there would have to be another network bidding for his services, and the only way that's happening is if the execs at Network 2 are stupid (or partisan) enough to also believe the press clippings, as opposed to the ratings books.

I would assume MSNBC's execs, or at least the bean counters, haven't completly gone off their meds, and they've made an appropriate counter-offer based on his ability to grab ratings, which means right now Keith should be receiving something in the vicinity of one carton of those new GE Soft-White flourescent standard socket bulbs and/or a free advance copy of Windows Vista (Professional Edition).

Does anyone know what is Brian Williams making doing Nightly New? KO can't make more than him. NBC won't let him.

Mike wrote "It must be wonderfull to know all things!"

Well it is wonderful at times but can also be a burden. I try to wear the resposonsibility lightly but it is very demanding. For example, it requires that I spend an inordinate amount of time explaining the obvious to OlbyLoons. I don't mind. I view it as charity work, like helping out at the homeless shelter.

    Ohboy:

"Scare tactics"! You sound kind of Republican to me, and if that's the case, your party has perfected the use of "scare tactics" over the last 5 years.

While asking for more than you want is a standard negotiation tactic, asking for 4 times what you are currently making, when the company you are working for is in the midst of making massive budget cuts across the board is both greedy and foolish. But hey, Olbermann never has exactly exhibited common sense when dealing with his employers now has he?

Mike said: "Scare tactics"! You sound kind of Republican to me..."

I thought the preferred term was "right-winger"?

"You sound kind of Republican to me, and if that's the case, your party has perfected the use of "scare tactics" over the last 5 years."

Stating that radical Islam has declared war on the United States is the same thing (or similar to) as saying that Bush has taken away the habeas rights of Americans?

    Both are legitimate claims?

One is complete nonsense; the other has 9/11 (among other events) to prove it.

Sorry, your post needs work. Nice try though.

Four million for the nightly Bush bash?
He really thinks he's worth that much cash?
    He's got to be kidding
    NBC should be ridding
Krazy Keith as in out with the trash

For example, it requires that I spend an inordinate amount of time explaining the obvious to OlbyLoons.

    yeah, right.
like explaining how great things are in Iraq.
and how it's gonna get even better.
    explain on, dumbshit.

There is an interesting note about Brian Stelter's cut-and-paste coverage of this on the Mediabistro bulletin board you can see right by the tip box on the site. Notes how Stelter omitted the word "controversial" while quoting B & C's story. That kid is shameless...

    Ohboy:

So we actually needed to see planes ramming into buildings before we could visualize that it could happen? Bin Laden warned they were going to attack us long before 911. Horror stories about large terror attacks circulated for years before 911.

In 1993, the WTC was attacked with a large bomb by Muslem terrorists. It was widely reported that the intention of the bomber was to bring one tower down into the other. He might have succeeded with a larger bomb. None of this was kept a secret. If he had succeeded with that attack, far more people would have been killed than actually were on 911.

SO just because it didn't succeed, that wasn't enough of a wake up call? I think it was for some of us. Then, a DOMESTIC terorist succeeded in blowing up a major federal building full of people. It was blamed on a
Muslem at first. That still wasn't enough of a wake up call?

But then "911 suddenly changed everything"?

    Only in our minds!

While appearing to justify the Republicans overuse scare tactics, you have provided no evidence that our freedoms have not been eroded by this. All you did was deny my post as "complete nonsense".

I guess the fact that you said so makes it so!

The name Dr Doublespeak....could be improved on.
Since Cee is a foaming at the mouth, lapdog for George Bush and every other right wing cause, it will be Dr. Lapdog from now on.

Everytime I read one of rover's posts , I just shake my head and wonder if he ever looks in the mirror and sees anyone other than Sean Hannity.
They have identical beliefs, where they never met a good democrat and never have found a republican worthy of scorn or criticism.

But that's not the purpose of my post tonight.
My purpose is to speak of some republicans who do have integrity.Republicans who are capable of looking at our changing world and evaluate it based on the realities of each situation, and adjust their views accordingly. To use reason, logic and evidence rather than the right wing dogma as Dr Lapdog,Rush Limpballs and Blockhead Hannity ascribe to.
Two that immediately stand out were on board with the Iraq War from day one.But they saw the realities of the situation, the war profiteering the lack of post war planning and now the blossoming civil war that has mushroomed from Bush's doomed policies.
The honorable Senator Gordon Smith from Oregon made such a reversal, because he wasn't afraid to break from the GOP good ole boys club.He realized that continuing a policy of having our troops being caught in the crossfire of this civil war was not only wrong "but possibly criminal"
Joe Scarborough who is a moderate Republican just used the common sense that God gave him to turn his opinion around 100%.

I also have 3 republican friends that have pulled a 180 degree turnaround .Each is issue oriented and feels that to continue to vote republican, is against their conscience and health.

Joanne- 58 yrs old- She has been a lifelong dye in the wool republican. She has voted for every GOP candidate since she could vote. She has Parkinson's Disease and it's advancing rapidly. She voted Democratic for the first time in her life in 04' and then again last month. She says" How could I vote for a man/party that is not going to help me extend my life b/c of his/their views on the stem cell research issue." ?

Steve has made his living as a fisherman for 35 years.
    Some background is necessary here-
Using antiquated technology, power plants often suck up the entire fresh water volume of large rivers, killing obscene numbers of fish. Just one facility, the Salem nuclear plant in New Jersey, kills more than 3 billion Delaware River fish each year, according to Martin Marietta, the plant's own consultant. These fish kills are illegal, and in 2001 lawyers led by RFK JR.won the case . A federal judge ordered the EPA to issue regulations restricting power-plant fish kills. But soon after Bush's inauguration, the administration replaced the proposed new rule with clever regulations designed to allow the slaughter to continue unabated.
Steve who is a traditional Republican sees this administration as the largest threat not just to his livelihood but to his values and his idea of what it means to be American. He has seen Bush's environmental policies up close.Steve now votes Democratic.

Joe is a fiscal conservative and again has voted GOP in almost every election in his lifetime.
He has seen how this president has spent like a drunken sailor on leave. He says,"How can I continue to support a man who has never vetoed a spending bill and continues to throw obscene amounts of money into a war , that we cannot win."

All across this nation , people who have never dreamed they would vote anything but Republican are waking up and seeing with their very eyes how this president( and party) have weakened this great country of ours in almost every important area domestically and abroad.

All over a little "bee sting", right Mike?

We don't have to "proove" that our freedoms have not been eroded. If you make the charge, you proove it.

So Bob--where did you cut and paste that from? OR is this another fiction like Habeus Corpus doesn't exist anymore in the US or Jose Padilla is being tortured or whatever the latest liberal talking point is?

There has been more than one assault on our rights and privacies. The most recent assault was the recent "Terrorist Detainee Act". If the president defines ANYBODY as an enemy combatant, you can lose your Habeus Corpus protection, even if you are a US citizen, subject only to the review of a small panel of judges appointed by the president.

    Go back and review!

    > If the president defines ANYBODY as an enemy combatant, you can lose your Habeus Corpus protection, even if you are a US citizen

Isn't enough that Olbermann lies about this? Do we have to have OlbyLoons repeating his lies?

Please keep posting Bob. We need more like you speaking the truth.

Its the message that really bothers them. Keith Olbermann is nothing but a messenger. In their mind, if they can just kill the messanger, the message will die as well.

Show us where he lied Johnny???

Show us where the President WASN'T granted these new powers. It's in the bill! Show us where US citizens are specifically excepted!

    Mike,

Are there any "enemy combatants" here? Or are there none?

Apparently the Olbyloons are terrorist or terrorist sympathizers so they're scared shitless they'll "lose their rights". Hey, don't support the terrorists and you'll have nothing to worry about, like the rest of us law-abiding citizens.

You see, there lies the problem. Who is the one doing the defining? According to some radicals who post on this very site, most of the media and half of the population "supports the terrorists".

If ANY of us lose our rights, then this is no longer the America that so many brave veterans dies fighting for!

O'Reilly may pay Olby 5 Million a year to sit on the sidelines so he can have some of his less-than-senile viewers back.

So where are these citizens who you claim have lost their rights? The legislation has checks and balances, whether you want to admit it or not.

    Mike:
"If the president defines ANYBODY as an enemy combatant, you can lose your Habeus Corpus protection, even if you are a US citizen, subject only to the review of a small panel of judges appointed by the president."

Do you read the original law and legislation? Or do you just use leftwing websites for this stuff?

Please read both the Detainee Treatment Act (DTA) along with the Military Commissions Act.

ANYONE detained can appeal their detention before a military tribunal AND ALSO the Ninth District Court in D.C.

    The law (DTA) states:
"The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit shall have exclusive jurisdiction to determine the validity of any final decision of a Combatant Status Review Tribunal that an alien is properly detained as an enemy combatant."

    Good grief.

If Olby gets 4 million, the least he can do is support the advertisers on this wonderful site.

    LF

Isn't this interesting. The "official" Countdown message board at MSNBC has now been flooded with "Olbermann is Jesus Christ", "Olbermann deserves a Nobel prize" etc threads. Previously this board has been the haunt of conspiracy theory nuts who believe 9/11 was an "inside" job. Now why did this sudden flood of new posters appear and why did they all chose to appear on the day someone from MSNBC leaked the details of his outrageous salary demands? KO's publicist is working overtime I see.

I wonder how long you would be held in detention before one would get a chance to go before that 9th district Court.

No thanks. Every US citizen should be given every due process normally afforded anyone accused of a crime.

By the way, I don't visit Left Wing websites at all.

    Goof grief indeed!

So if you're not a US citizen what is the big here exactly? When I hear about the wholesale round-up of US citizens, then I'll be concerned.

"I wonder how long you would be held in detention before one would get a chance to go before that 9th district Court."

Double good grief (if that's possible).

You've gone from stating that our habeas rights have been taken away to saying "how long" can one be held before going before a court.

This is called arguing in bad faith.

At least you're not going to continue to argue the canard that our habeas rights have been taken away.

Right? You've give up on that nonsense?

Oh look. TVNewser has just posted a rave review of KO's "Special Comments Special." But remember, TVN isn't biased at all. Yeah, kinda like KO ain't. Could these two be any bigger jokes? And when will they just declare their man love for one another and elope to wherever allows civil unions?

aGive Keith Olbermann a political radio program.

    Let's get something straight!

Absolute Truth? Mike has trouble keeping a grip on Absolute Reality.

    But I digress.

Now I have not seen anybody post anything about what Mr. O'Reilly makes a year.(Maybe I missed it.) My guess is it must be around this range and Olby thinks that he's much better than Bill so........

Earth to Olby. Before you start asking for O'Reilly dollars, it would help to put up O'Reilly numbers in the ratings.

It also seems that Bill was over in Iraq for a couple of days. Loaded up a plane with stuff for the G.I.s , so the man makes good about saying the profits from billoreilly.com were going to our servicemen and women. Oh and I know this will piss off the tin foil hat crowd. Fox News threw a bunch of stuff in too. Imagine that! A transport full of stuff from Bill and Fox News!

Keith, Katie, his dopey agent,Dan Patrick, whoever. If I was M.S.L.S.D. I would just sit back and let the clock run. Where's Keith gona go?
    CNN? Nope ain't going there.
    Fox News? oh yeah right!
ESPN? No Keith you can't go home.
Air America? Nope! They are having trouble paying the janitor these days.
VS? Keith doesn't know a Hockey puck from a hip check.
The New T.B.S. Baseball package comming next year? Maybe, After Keith sees his career( what there was of it) and Katie go out the door. But he won't even get a half a-million for that.

I hope Keith has a backup plan. I think he's gona need it.

Yep, I think the question of the night is. If Keith leaves M.S.L.S.D., WHERE'S HE GONA GO? And if a simple puck like me can figure that out. You now the bean counters at N.B.C. corporate know that! WHERE'S HE GONA GO?

Who's gona want him for a million?

I hope he has a backup plan.

Boy, Bob is just chuck full of talking points today. By the way, that fish kill. Does that include all the fish people catch close to the plant? I don't know, I asked some people why they fish there. They said because the water comming out of the plant is warm and fish breed a lot more. Don't know myself, there's a smaller plant up Route 9 around Barnegat. Same thing happens up there too!

BUT LET'S GET TO THE REAL TRUTH!!! 3 billion fish! Do you relize if you had that many fish killed what a stench you would have? Anybody walk around a marina in Florida when they have red tide? Pretty brutal! And thats maybe a hundred or so and it takes a day or so but those dead fish get pretty ripe. 3 billion? yeah right. And then notice he throws in some guy named Steve who's been fishing for 35 years. Okay, and you're point is? I've been fishing all my life, hunted too? And you're point is? Talking Points! Talking Points! And if you get you're tin foil hat wish Dave what are you gona say to all those people who will lose their jobs? Don't worry folks the plant is probibly run by a union so nothing will happen.

Folks Dave is somebody who will tell you that weather guys never get it right, they always lie, but you should belive ALGORE when he says there's global warming.

But to sum this up the leftest crack pot way. Dave posts something about 3 billion fish from some some guy named Steve off of some wacko website. It's the truth!

Bill O'Reilly beats Olby almost any night 4 to 1 by real numbers. It's fake.

Dave, I was once a good little zombie and I use to vote democrat. And then one day I started to ask questions. I would tell you to do the same but after reading you're post I would say don't bother. You're head will explode! Oh and Dave I'm not a Republican. But I will never become a Democrat again. Oh and Dave nice try, but Loons like you have been on this site before USEING people with afflictions or in some case dead people to get their point across. It might make you feel good but it also makes you look like a jerk! Or a jackass! You decide.

What a great comment by indijerk. That made sense to who?

Oh and this stuff with losing our freedoms? Don't patronize Mike, he's been on this site and he still can't come up with any concreate evidence where some American citizen has had their rights violated by President Bush. But wait I'm here to help. I know where American citizens have had their rights violated by the President! Yep! Does anybody remember when President Clinton was in Chicago back in the 90's and two people came up to him and said he sucked? Remember? He had the secret service hold those two people for a day or two, Now thats a violation of somebody's rights don't you think?

Point? Say anything you want about George Bush, a certain amount of sheep will always follow you. But you better not ever tell a democrat he sucks.........or has big ears! then there will be hell to pay for you pal! Even if you're a democrat, Just ask Maureen Dowd!

I gotta go this is starting to turn into a blog. but folks when you use to be one of them and then you wake up, I can't help myself. This is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Ya know I just had this thought. Olby, buddy! Just in case you get canned, but I hope not this is just too much fun! If you want to get Katie that engagement ring. Buy a nice box from a high end store but, get the ring from Sam's Club. But watch it! Some union sheep might be next door protesting at the Wal-Mart. Wait, on second thought don't worry, who would recognize you? And really who would care?

Just trying to help, ya know it's Christmas(YIKES!) time.

KO can't host a political radio show. See, he's not biased. He's said so. He keeps insisting he isn't political at all so how could he host a political radio show unless he admitted he's a commentator and that Countdown isn't really a news show?

    > Show us where the President WASN'T granted these new powers. It's in the bill! Show us where US citizens are specifically excepted!

Sigh. I'm not your personal research slave. It's in our archives. We even quote the law. I note you don't cite where the law says US citizens can be denied HC. Because IT AIN'T IN THERE! Because the law specificially states that such provisions only apply to aliens, not US citizens. But you'll swallow anything Olbermoronn belches your way.

This is what comes of believing the lies of the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann.

    Brandon
If Fox News waved 4 million in front of Olby's nose he would become the biggest phony conservative since Mancow.

    Here:

    Detainee Treatment Act here:
    http://jurist.law.pitt.edu/gazette/2005/12/detainee-treatment-act-of-2005-white.php

    Military Commissions Act here:
    http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=109_cong_bills&docid=f:s3930enr.txt.pdf

Where in either of these two laws are American's habeas rights (or any other rights) taken away? These laws apply to ALIENS only, NOT AMERICANS.

Even if an American is labeled an enemy combatant, he has the right to appeal his detention before a military tribunal and then appeal that decision before the Ninth US District Court in Washington.

So, even ALIENS have habeas rights, albeit limited ones.

If you can't understand the above, then I'm sorry, there's nothing that can be done for you.

No kidding Puck. He'd be more right-wing than Ann Coulter. Wonder how much exactly it would cost to watch him sell out and reveal himself to be what we figured out about him a long time ago?

    Ohboy:

Thanks for the info and your patience.

It's not easy to admit I might have been wrong about something, but it appears that I indeed didn't really know enough about this law to be speaking out against it. I will do some more research before stating any other opinions about it in the future.

You did not stoop to using insults or questioning my intelligence as many others at this site seem so prone to doing. I guess I was used to that kind of a response, so I thank you for showing the class that you displayed in your responses.

Since the Bush Administration's domestic and foreign policies consists mostly of PR slogans....here's one coming right back at them:

    Quote of the night:

"We Fight for Liberty by Having
    More Liberty, Not Less"

    Keith Olbermann

No truer words have ever been spoken,or summed up the failures of the past 6 years better than that line.

Best album title ( and one that says more with so few words)

NOT IN OUR NAME: by Charlie Haden and the Liberation Orchestra

But to sum this up the leftest crack pot way. Dave posts something about 3 billion fish from some some guy named Steve off of some wacko website. It's the truth!

The information came from a deposition used in court.
My friend Steve is the fisherman who's livelihood has been affected by your president's policies.

Who the hell is dave ?

    Dave's not here.
( only the liberals will get that one)

How can the idiot Puck get so many things wrong ?

Maybe got hit in the head with a puck !

Remember it's hockey season too !

It looks like military recruiters are doing more than just grabbing warm bodies off the streets:

    THEY WERE RUNNING COCAINE !

and some kept visiting the schools for 3 years after the FBI caught them on tape !

This case and the article is pretty fascinating.

Powell Says US Losing in Iraq, Calls for Drawdown by Mid-2007
    By Karen DeYoung
    The Washington Post

    Monday 18 December 2006

Comments break long public silence on the war.

Former secretary of state Colin L. Powell said today that the United States is losing what he described as a "civil war" in Iraq and that he is not persuaded that an increase in U.S. troops there would reverse the situation. Instead, he called for a new strategy that would relinquish responsibility for Iraqi security to the government in Baghdad sooner rather than later, with a U.S. drawdown to begin by the middle of next year.

Those liberals like Colin Powell are such surrender monkeys !

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell. Probably the most reasonable member of the Bush Administration.
( but like ex-generals, can now speak his mind )

Get the swiftboat engines revved up ...here they come>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Mike, I've been out of touch for three weeks helping my oldest friend after knee replacement surgery.

Ohboy's comments and links were reiterated many times prior by many others. Kudos to Ohboy for getting your attention.

While researching based on Ohboy you might want to spend a few minutes researching President Lincoln's use of power during the Civil War. GWB is a piker compared to him.

FDR was more constrained than President Lincoln but still exercised executive powers far greater than those afforded GWB.

I am convinced that the threats we face today are as serious as those that our country faced in the past. As a corrollary, I am equally convinced that the potential harm to our great country is at least as serious.

Different threats with identical consequences. The end result being the end of the greatest political system of mankind at the hands of barbarians.

I approach each question facing us by the following criteria: our enemy's nonnegotiable bottom line of our ultimate annihilation versus our historical record of withdrawing extraodinary powers granted after the crisis has passed.

Bob, thank you for setting me straight. Now, please let me know at what point should I begin my political and human perspective as a guide to my opinions?

The day you were born? The day you first walked or spoke? Perhaps the day you first made potty in the toilet all by yourself and your Mommy clapped and cooed for you?

I am convinced! Human nature and political forces began and were born anew with you. The World According to Bob surely can't fill more than a triple spaced page. So much easier than struggling through thousands of years of history. Man and his interactions reduced to Bob's lifespan.

    December 18, 2006

Bill O'lielly spends his time tonight drowning in his tears about how everyone in the big boy world of news media are always conspiring to make him and Fox News look bad. As if anyone would need to conspire to accomplish that.

He had that drop dead gorgeous Asian woman on, you know the one with the high gloss lipstick, she was doing her usual pulling of the fan rope to keep big Bill from sweating at the brow. Her ability to butt kiss must be the envy of brown nosers everywhere. She did her best to build up his self esteem so deflated by Mr. Olbermann's constant slicing of bigger and bigger pieces of Bill's pile. "Give me back Phil Donahue!" Wahh wahh wahh!

Bill was a vision tonight. Running in his suspender shorts pulled high above his waste and folded up over the knee. You can just hear his hard soled patent leather shoes running down the side walk and through the front door to cry to his mommy that the boy down the block is picking on him again.

(Wiping back his tears) "You wait mommy one day I will be a big boy, a real man, and I will get even with those bullies, you'll see." "Yes you will dear," his mother reassures, as she swings a free hand around him while preparing his meat and mash potato dinner.

And sure enough little Billy got bigger and bigger until he really got comfortable thinking he was tough shit. But size in stature of girth makes not size in stature of a man.

Big Billy never did keep his promise to his mommy. Indeed he did grow up to be big, he ate a lot of meat and mashed potatoes, but Billy did not grow up to take a stand against the bullies, on the contrary, he works for them. Hired muscle that talks a tough game but when the shit hits the fan he cries like a snot nosed baby.

The failed adventure to take an oil rich state has left this nation hundreds of billions of dollars in debt, thousands of Americans dead and Republican senators calling Bush reckless and even hinting at criminal.

Hmmm, Bill share any of the responsibility for this? He seems to fear he does, after all Mr. O'lielly has been bragging all the Bush years that his show makes and breaks politicians.

Today poor Bill was a shrinking man. Even Geraldo can't stroke him back to life.

Rush "can't carry your water anymore" and just the same, poor Billy too finds it much harder to bull shit the morons who look up to him. The tough guy raises his voice to intimidate and everyone yawns.

We all (those of us who are grown ups) knew the guy in high school who was just like O'lielly. A guy with size in height only. Loves to argue, and when begins to frustrate with ignorance, he becomes in flamed to win an argument through intimidation. All his claims that no politician can win an election without coming on the Factor and facing down the man would be king of tough guys, Big Bill O'lielly - that has been turned on it's head. Thanks to Bill I suppose, the House and Senate are now Democratic majorities.

Fox and their lap dog, O'lielly, are the laughing stock of all media everywhere. Strait from the bowels of Pat Robertson's bare knee's women broadcasting the "news". The spawn of televangelism and "Christian News Broadcasting" came Fox News to put an end to commie liberal media like CNN. Rupert Murdoch is the Darth Vader of right wing propagandists everywhere. Moa and Stalin would be green with envy. Murdoch is green with billions from pimping and whoring "news media" for billionaires planet wide.

How disheartening it must be for poor Rupert to see little Billy cry under his mother's apron!

    Poor boy!

"I am convinced that the threats we face today are as serious as those that our country faced in the past. As a corrollary, I am equally convinced that the potential harm to our great country is at least as serious. Janet Hawkins
    AKA Grammie"

Nothing like comparing the Civil War, that resulted in 600,000 dead, over white Christian people dividing the great nation the "granny" eludes to, so the same white christians could keep slavery legal, she equates George Bush with Lincoln and then FDR as though all of Europe was in flames when Bush lied to get this nation into a war that only billionaires profit from and Americas finest are dying in the thousands, all so W's buddies can keep the war profiteering going.

How sick of person do you have to be to put the lives and families of our soldiers second to your pathetic need to defend the indefensible. Clearly you are not a patriot to this nation or the men and women dying in Iraq. Your Fox News education puts your opinions right where they are here on this page - in the f---ing toilet. Last I heard Republican Senator Gordon Smith called Bush reckless and hinted at the legality of his actions. Yet you come here and pretend your wit is so fine that you can argue and defend that which will go down in history as just one more monstrosity of death and destruction by the Kulture of the Klan! Bush and his criminal gang could never have killed so many people if the evil hand of white southern protestants had never got a hold of a flash of political power. You and your ilk are the true face of evil. Your delusion about:

"I am convinced that the threats we face today are as serious as those that our country faced in the past."

is made up of Fox News garbage that you picked through to justify your cowardice love affair with xenophobic hate.

Hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqi men woman and children, and all the suffering of those still alive in this hell George has built there, get's little to no reflection from vile excuses for a human like you. All you can do is pretend you personally are under the gun and do this with zero contrast to those who really are - our troops and the Iraqi people.

I say you are true remnant of the evil of 400 years slavery was built on. It will be a great day in this nation when the Kulture of the Klan fades away into obscurity taking ignorant self absorbed xenophobic hillbilly dirt balls like you with it!

Pretend all you want that you have moved on up the social ladder, you have not. You are hick and it shows!

Olbyloon logic at it's finest: insult the posters here who don't like Olbermann, call them any name you want to, and it's okay, why, it's encouraged! But let one of those postes turn the tables on you and call you names, and oh my, the crying begins. The lecturing begins. The "you're a mean person" is heard. Liberals: Can dish it out, can't take it.

If MSLSD is willing to pay millions for a no-talent wacko like Olby, what else will they buy? Perhaps a vintage "peace" symbol for a few hundred grand, or Cindy Sheehan's used tissues for a million?

Does anyone know how much money MSLSD loses for NBC each year?

Mmmm...the lack of free thinking by the liberal representatives on this site is starting to become pitiful. Both Professor Honeydew (Bob) and Coward Watch Special Comment are unable to free themselves from their intellectual bondage.

A FACT guys......Saddam Hussein was an active participant in the evil entity that is militant islam....He espoused the destruction of Israel, he supported Palestinian terrorists in killing thousands of innocent people through the decades and there was evidence in 2002 (believed by many more people not named Bush) that he was not complying with UN resolutions regarding weapons of mass destruction. With his past behavior MANY believed he could become a conduit for dangerous weapons that could be used against the US and our allies.

So, as a supporter of freedom and democracy, I support The President's removal of Saddam Hussein. I think justice will be served when they execute him. Great job American troops!

Now, there are more militant islamists taking advantage of Iraq as a new tact in defeating the forces for freedom. They are terrorists who kill Iraqi civilians and our troops. There is a majority of the population that wants a stable government and to live in peace. President Bush wants to defeat the forces of evil and help the new Iraqi government achieve order. I 100% support this noble cause.

Honeydew and Coward support the defeat of the US and the victory of the terrorists.

I voted that KO should get the same salary. The one service that the show accomplishes is that a site like this one exists. Well researched and well spoken responses (such as Grammie's) to counter the opposition. Puck brought up an obvious point about the stench of dead fish (won't bother to recap). BTW, you can use as many examples of people with Parkinson's as you wish to argue stem cell research. There are those (like the late Pope John Paul II) who suffer from Parkinson's who still put the value of human life where it belongs (above fish).

Thanks for your admission, Mike. The reason why I continue to support the war on terror is that once you actually see a poor guy get his head sawed off (not just in one quick chop) in the name of Islam, your perspective changes. I also saw pictures of three young Christian girls who had been beheaded on their way to school in Indonesia. 9/11 happened in the name of Islam. President Bush made huge mistakes but he, to me, shows the the kind of resolve needed to keep me safe. I have mixed feelings about the treatment of detainees as well as this war in general. My Catholic faith teaches me that the human person must always be treated with dignity and peace measures should be exhausted first, yet I see the barbarism committed by terrorists, I can't see anything wrong with waterboarding to get information or just annihilating jihadists.

P.S. Johnny Dollar, your persistence and good work have put one issue to rest. (habeas corpus) K.O. will not likely to ever have you on his show.

    Mike:
"Thanks for the info and your patience."

    You're welcome.

    Classy response. I appreciate it.

Hey, maybe we should give access to civilian courts to these suspects. I think that wouldn't be wise; or is necessary. But a good argument can still be made that these military commissions don't have enough safeguards to prevent abuse.

If Olbermann and Turley made that argument, I'd listen. But they have to go overboard and make what I think are just hysterical and inaccurate claims.

Remember: Just because others want to engage in a spitting contest doesn't mean one has to join them.

(Wow, do I sound like a pompous boor or what?)

Well, hello and Merry Christmas to you too, Coward. You have no idea how I count on you. In an ever changing and perilous world I can depend on you to always be the same.

A courageous colossus of a man striding boldly in search of cowardice, evil and hate to be illuminated and eradicated by your mighty pen and righteous anger.

On second thought, I stand by my original assessment of you.

You are a contemptible little worm of a man.

    Janet Hawkins
    AKA grammie

Grammie: Something like those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.

You mean like in Vietnam? Where we learned AGAIN that you can't force our government on a country and that people in their native homeland will never have a shortage of will and people who would give up their lives to fight against the invaders.

No, Grammie and especially George Bush haven't learned from the lessons of the past.

I thought money didnt matter to folks of Keiths ilk ? Lets say it together......LIMOUSINE LIBERAL

Dr. Lapdog says :"Now, there are more militant islamists taking advantage of Iraq as a new tact in defeating the forces for freedom.

yes there are, thanks to George Bush , your savior, and his war in iraq, but they just aren't in Iraq.
Bush has created a whole new generation of terrorists.
The militant islamists ( Al Qaeda) make up a small % of the people we are fighting in Iraq.
Our troops our mostly fighting native Iraqis, and the citizens of that country want us the hell out of there.

But of course the real cowards and chickenhawks like Grammie and Lapdog want us to stay against the wishes of the people we invaded.

Ellen Goodman has a great column in today's newspapers. She suggests that since Bush has a goal of having democracy in Iraq( actually goal #4, after the other 3 failed.)why not let the Iraqi people vote on whether we should have this new "surge" of troops in their country.
Shouldn't THEY decide what is best for their country?Or does the imperialist USA know what's best all the time?
I'm sure Bush wouldn't let the Iraqis demonstrate their new found democracy because he wouldn't like the results.
At the core , he is a hypocrite as is Lapdog and Grammie.

Honeydew and Coward support the defeat of the US and the victory of the terrorists.

This rhetoric is always used by the brainless right wing non- thinkers when anyone who doesn't support the failed policies of their hero, is beaten down as wanting the terrorists to win.

In Lapdog's view, people like Colin Powell,ex-generals who have served in Iraq, and 70% of the population of the the USA want a defeat of the USA and the terrorists to win.

No they just understand the realities of that War in Iraq, and we need to get out before another soldier gets killed in the crossfire of the civil war that is raging in that country.

We need to start working on the multitudes of terrorists outside of Iraq that Bush has created because of.... as many conservatives have called it.... the "biggest foreign policy blunder in our country's history."

When you can fight the rhetoric of the right with people from their own side...you know their point of view is a lost cause !

A courageous colossus of a man striding boldly in search of cowardice, evil and hate to be illuminated and eradicated by your mighty pen and righteous anger.

And this is how Grammie demonstrates the Xmas spirit!

Would you like to debate Joanne, my republican friend who has Parkinson's... on her washing her hands of Bush b/c of his stem cell research stance ?

    I didn't think so.

INVADERS! The United States of American INVADED Vietnam?.....

Oh my, Honeydew, you are stupid.

The South Vietnamese did not want a totalitarian regime imposed on them from the north! Terrorists supported from the North called the Viet Cong made the country a living hell for the population....not our soldiers.

We deserted the millions in South Vietnam who wanted democracy...not communism. Millions died after we deserted these fine people....and your revisionist history will never erase that fact.

Bob, you are such a fraud it sickens me! To claim we invaded south east asia is such a lie that I cannot even believe you said it.

I guess the ally list you liberals have should include Hồ Chí Minh...along with....

    Bashar al-Assad
    Hassan Nasrallah
    Abu Musab al-Zarqawi

"Everything I wrote you can find in the federal court records"

That's like saying "The asteroid I'm talking about is up there in the sky with the rest of the stars"

The "federal court records" would reach to the sky, Bob. Brandon made a reasonable request by asking you to give a SPECIFIC source for your latest talking point. Your reference to its existence in the "federal court records" shows you don't have a clue and you're just parotting back something you found on some left fringe site-- just like a good Olby stooge.

We of the Kennedy and Johnson administrations who participated in the decisions on Vietnam acted according to what we thought were the principles and traditions of this nation. . . . Yet we were wrong, terribly wrong. We owe it to future generations to explain why.
--Robert McNamara, Secretary of Defense in the 1960s

Now think of the chorus on the right...who has been saying the same thing.

Of course except Bush/Cheney..they WILL go down with the ship....
I don't remember who said it this weekend but it's worth repeating.
"Bush/Cheney will not only BE VILIFIED in future generations as causing the biggest blunder in the history of American foreign policy ...but they will be more vilified for thinking it was going to be EASY."

Your reference to its existence in the "federal court records" shows you don't have a clue and you're just parotting back something you found on some left fringe site-- just like a good Olby stooge.

It was the 1992 Scenic Hudson Preservation Conference VS. The Federal Power Commission
    354 F.2nd 608

    was just one of them.

RFK JR prosecuted polluters on behalf of the Natural Resources Defense Council, Riverkeeper and Waterkeeper Alliance.

    here's another one:

On behalf of several farm groups and fishermen, they sued Smithfield Foods and won a decision that suggested that almost all of American factory farms were violating the Clean Water Act. The Clinton EPA had also brought its own parallel suits addressing chronic air and water violations by hog factories. But almost immediately after taking office, the Bush administration ordered the EPA to halt its Clean Air Act investigations of animal factories and weaken the water rules to allow them to continue polluting indefinitely.

Bush's decision to order the EPA to halt it's Clean Air Act investigations probably sits well with you ?

    Don't have a clue eh?

Who doesn't have a clue when you say I'm " parotting back something I found on some left fringe site-- just like a good Olby stooge. ?"

It must really gall you people that you are so wrong so much of the time.

Poor Hank...took a shot and tried to call my bluff.... and lost.

    TDF.

"Everything I wrote you can find in the federal court records except the people I spoke about , who are my personal friends."

Well isn't that convienient? You have no proof to back-up your claim that these people are your friends. I don't know but the writing style just didn't seem like your usual ranting and raving.

I guess its time to remind you guys of the original intent of this website. This is NOT A SITE TO DEBATE ISSUES. This is a site for reasonable folks to take a rip at the “Orange One”.

Somehow all you blowhard leftwing nut jobs found this site and feel the need to defend Obly. I dont want to come to this site and see a bunch of name calling and leftwing gobbledygook!

So get your sorry butts back on MOVEON and leave this site for its original intent. If you LIKE KEITH and agree with Keiths view I could really give a crap. Blow your wind on some fruitcake site and leave us Obly Haters alone.

Hardly. If you are saying that the actions of the Bush administration EPA are in contravention of the ruling in the 1992 Scenic Hudson case, then you might have something. How about for a change, Bob you explain to us, in your own words, using your own incisive legal analytical skills (rather than cut and paste specials) how the EPA is currently in violation of estabished statutory standards for enforcement of our envionmental laws. I don't want anecdotal 'Talk to my former Republican friend who now hates George Bush" bullshit. Prove something before you start crowing.

Bob, your attempts at arguments reminds me of the few drops of water sprinkled on a griddle to test if ready for the pancakes. Your reasoning pops, swirls and splatters in a hundred different directions at once.

You jump from my obversation that extraordinary powers have been expanded, and sometimes illegally grabbed, by the executive branch in national crises. That the track record of our country is to have the powers retrenched after the crisis has passed. I referenced the two clearest examples, Abraham Lincoln and FDR.

And your response is that the current debate over Habeas Corpus and the contention that GWB is a despot has a zillion differences from the use of such by prior presidents. Then you saddle up and ride off on a dozen high horses , all on them based on fictions, that Vietnam is relavent to the current debate because we invaded Vietnam and murdered and plundered and every other atrocity you can think of.

At least I am able to infer that your historical perspective begins at some point with Vietnam. At what point is unclear.

If any of your contentions are relevant to the discussion between Mike, Ohboy and my little tidbit, enlighten us all.

    Keith is PRICELESS !!

Which means he belongs on Comedy Central in the middle of the night washing Jon Stewart's undies while cursing his betters under his sardine breath.

    rocketman

You get an A. That’s what I’m talking about baby…a traditional take a shot at the Obly Man post.

That’s is what its about ! Keep it simple, short and dont let the facts get in your way....WONDERFUL BABY

I find Olbermann's contentions that he is a reporter of the "news" and is "not political" disingenous. He attacks conservatives on every show while overlooking contemptable actions by liberals, such as the revelation that Rep. William Jefferson (D) of Louisiana was found to have stashed $90,000 cash in his freezer. Further, he promotes stories that have no basis in fact, such as the alleged 2004 "stolen" vote in Ohio and the supposed "impending" indictment of Karl Rove.

Along with the ribbing that we give KO on this site, the observbations I made above are the sorts of criticisms that we offer regarding KO's brand of "journalism". Can't you just feel the hate oozing out?

$4 Million to shill for Michael Moore...
Why doesn't Citizen Keith just make a move with the left-wing loon...?

Its beautiful post hank. A wonderful post. Almost makes my nipples hard.

Now what I don’t need is some nutjob, fruitcake, dirtbag communists lefty coming up after your post with 20 pages full of a bunch of nonsense.

Here is the biggest surprise story of the day....

Daily Kos has the following poll question:

"Should MSNBC agree to quadruple Keith Olbermann's annual salary to $4 Million?"

    81 % in favor
    11 % against
    7 % no opinion

    Take a peek....

    (scroll down some)

Typical liberal attitude....throw undeserved money at something (or someone) and hope it improves....Remember, MSNBC gets revenue from advertisers and cable/satellite companies which get their money from all of us....

It ALWAYS seems like liberals love to spend other people's money!

MSNBC better be listening to that HUGE audience!

    To Brian:

So all you really want to do on this site is pick at and laugh at an admittantly flawed TV pundit with like minded haters of the same man? A man you don't even have to watch, or even think about if you don't want to! Sounds like an obsession to me!

Nobody is supposed to discuss or even question this obsession, even though you are devoted to trashing one man publicly? God forbid that anybody might aspire to a higher level and actually want to debate the ISSUES that are raised on Olby's show, and others. To you, it was all about laughs and giggles. Amazing!

That doesn't sound like an endeavor that too many "reasonable folks" would actually want to aspire to. In fact, it sounds pretty boring.

Since NBC/Universal has been trying to cut their budget back so much and the Olby decides he needs a 400% wage increase and all th Olbyloons are for it, then they must favor the firing of enough underlings to make up for the shortfall his new wages would produce.

I hate to disappoint you Mike but this site first started out as a place to do exactly what you described. There are plenty of places for you to go “debate the issues”. Dont kid yourself nobody debates the issues here. Its all name-calling and references to some facts somebody pulled out of their ass.

I just want this site to get back to what it started out to be. I could tell there was a liberal invasion. Before we never had any 100 page posts. 100 pages of fricking nonsense.

GO BE A BLOWHARD SOMEWHERE ELSE

    Mike-

OK, let's debate a topic from Olby's show...do you that LaLohan's mom is an old bag?

BTW: When he admits to being a pundit, please be sure to let us know...

    Two more questions:

    1) Do you think that Chris Wallace is a "monkey"? Remember that monkey is a deragatory term for Jewish people, and Wallace is a Jew.

    2) Also, do you think that flashing a Nazi salute is offensive, particularly when you have a German last name and heritage?

More issues raised by Olbermann (not the supposed hater that Brian refers to):

    1) Are the rumors about Richard Gere's encounters with gerbils true (featured story on Meltdown last week ?

    2) Should Olbermann's response to an e-mail heckler to "Kill yourself" cause viewers and critics to wonder about his mental stability?

To Brian: I guess you should just call on Johnny or Robert to block all us 'blowhards' who might want to debate (yikes!).

To Fred Bear: I don't think I would call "Lahohans mom" an issue, nor would I personally call anyone an "old bag".

To Brandon: No I don't think Olbermann should have done or said either one of those things, and yes, I would call flashing a Nazi salute offensive.

I guess its time to remind you guys of the original intent of this website. This is NOT A SITE TO DEBATE ISSUES.

This is America. I'll say and debate anything I damn well feel like at this site.

I know this administration has worked diligently to limit dissent in this country, but GFY on what you think I should talk about.

    What's a matter Bob?

Did W stop you from posting? TPS!

Yes, Olbermann has definitely said and done some offensive, and sometimes stupid things...true. I personally wish he would quit shooting himself in the foot.

That said, the same can by said for Ann Coulter, Laura Ingram, Rush Limbaughm, Hannity, O'Reilly, etc., and yet people on the right continue to embrace and defend them

I wish ALL of them would get off their high horses, stop saying offensive things about those that disagree with them, and quit talking like they alone have an exclusive lock on the 'truth'.

But is that really what most of their fans want?

Brandon:Well isn't that convienient? You have no proof to back-up your claim that these people are your friends.

Who says there is no comedy at this site?

How the hell do I back up that these people are my friends?
You want phone numbers to check them out ?

The people you list are admitted pundits and/or commentators. Olbermann claims non-partisanship and news journalist/anchor. They cannot be compared.

Its like comparing a truck ad to Sesame Street. Both appear on TV but they do entirely different things.

Also, there are people on the right side of the aisle here who have said that do not watch or listen to some or all of those you mention, but you lump all of us together under the same umbrella.

You mean a wall to wall, we're in denial of the problems in this country and who caused them.. lovefest ?

"I could tell there was a liberal invasion."

    yesireebob !
And growing larger by the minute in this country. With their votes they sent the lying, incompetent president a huge message and sent the Do-Nothing GOP Congress out on their asses.

I know the election was a bitter pill to swallow.
It must even be harder to know you're being "called" on your bullshit !

    Fred Bear:

I anticipated that argument because I've heard it many times, and your not wrong in my opinion. I say Olbermann is not a true news jounalist and I think he should admit it. I've posted to that effect many times. I don't know why he doesn't....I don't think it would hurt his ratings a bit if he did.

I don't intentionally lump everyone on the right as listening to or defending these other people, just as only a very small percentage of those left of center actually watch KO regularly. However, all these people have their defenders, and enough of a fan base to keep them going.

    Mike-

Yea! We agree! This Christmastime peace on Earth stuff can really work!

Seriously though, the reason I came here in the first place is because I couldn't believe he was getting away with NOT being called a pundit/commentator. I do not tend to defend the views of the ones you listed previously or their lefty counterparts...they can all defend themselves. Sometimes they come up with a salient point, sometimes they are noise...but in the end they are just as flawed as the rest of us simple human beings.

    Some interesting breaking news:

The Joint Chiefs Oppose Bush's Plan for More Troops

The Joint Chiefs think the White House, after a month of talks, still does not have a defined mission and is latching on to the surge idea in part because of limited alternatives, despite warnings about the potential disadvantages for the military, said the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the White House review is not public.

The service chiefs have warned that a short-term mission could give an enormous edge to virtually all the armed factions in Iraq - including al-Qaeda's foreign fighters, Sunni insurgents and Shiite militias - without giving an enduring boost to the U.S military mission or to the Iraqi army, the officials said.

The Pentagon has cautioned that a modest surge could lead to more attacks by al-Qaeda, provide more targets for Sunni insurgents and fuel the jihadist appeal for more foreign fighters to flock to Iraq to attack U.S. troops, the officials said.

Wonder if Dr. Lapdog, Grammie and the rest of the klan will be calling the Joint Chiefs, traitors?

    TDF

The longer we go on with this war,the higher in status are the ones who are in conflict with White House policy.
Won't be long before the only one left is Barney .
(and the posters at this site.)

When ex-generals, Colin Powell and now the Joint Chiefs agree with what we've been saying, you know the right wing loons have no place to hide .

It really bothers Professor Honeydew that George Bush can still be the decider under law.....and no matter what he, or anyone says, The President will make the final decision.

I will gladly support Bush and Gates in whatever conclusions they arrive at because I know they are listening to the commanders in Iraq and the joint chiefs and a consensus will develop.

The cowardly left will continue to cry and contribute nothing to the security of our country. That is fine because that is all they have ever done.....

And let me remind these fine posters like Professor Honeydew that when Rep. Rangel brought up the draft several weeks ago, I said I agreed with him and hoped it came to a vote in the next congress.....we'll see if he actually acts on his rhetoric and who has the political courage to do the right thing.

I wonder what Olbermann would do about a draft?

My call of the left's bluffs never seem to get a response.

    Mr. Cox,

When will your response to Brian Stelter be posted? I cannot wait to see you tear him apart.

    Cee:

Its so amazing to keep seeing the likes of you continue to call people 'cowardly' while all YOU can do is sit there in your easy chair and cheer Bush on.

I could easily make the argument that sitting there on your duff expecting more and more young Americans to die trying to referee a civil war is 'cowardly'!

    Mike,

Millions of fine Americans have supported the armed forces AND their missions sitting in their kitchens and living rooms. The above simple attack, used by someone who disagrees with the current administration on the use of force, is indicative of arrogance.

I do not appreciate how the same type of person, a civilian who never served, can be against the war and yet their position is not attacked by the same reasoning.....Take President Clinton for example. When he was shown to be a draft dodger during the Vietnam conflict, people came to his defense that he could still ne commander-in-chief simply because the American people voted for him....he had gained the respect through the election. Never have I heard the left give the same respect to President Bush as commander-in-chief....in fact from 2000 on there has been disrespect almost as severe as Hugo Chavez's words at the UN.

That is what I mean by my analysis of the left's behavior.....it is cowardly to tear down a commander-in-chief in a time of war when thousands of volunteers have put it on the line.

    With that said....
How do you feel about a draft, Mike?

    Cee:

I never came to Clinton's defense as a draft dodger! I think whether a CIC should have served himself is an awful tough argument with positive points on both sides.

I'm not against Bush because he never served. I'm against Bush because of how he has grossly misused the military and look at the results! I do suspect that HAD he served, he might have used better judgement along the way.

The CIC is not our king. We are at war in Iraq only because he took as there (with some help). I strongly believe that in taking us there, he has increased the challenges facing out nation exponentially.

Finally, I love your last question about the draft. I was against ending it myself. If we were sending draftees right now to fight in Iraq, the outcry all over America would be deafening! People seem to rationalize that it's not so bad because they are 'volunteers'.

Yes, a draft would be great. It would pretty much guarantee that we went to war only when absolutely necessary and would give all of us a more personal stake in the outcome.

    Cee:

In reading some of your comment sgain, let me add the following:

As a middle of the roader at that time (I voted for bush 41 in 1992 & Bush 43 in 2000), I heard lots of criticizm of Clinton during his tenure, both for his draft dodger record, and his qualifications to be CIC.

And there was nothing you could really call a war to complicate the issue.

TVNewser Attacks Olbermann Watch wrote "Mr. Cox, When will your response to Brian Stelter be posted? I cannot wait to see you tear him apart."

I have been swamped with a technology project that ran into OT for the past week so I've not much time for anything including Christmas shopping for my kids. I did that tonight and will try and take a look tomorrow. J$ was kind enough to send me the link today but all I really cared about was that we made Page Six today which is totally awesome.

I see Fred Bear made the paper by name (although not his quote). Great! That kind ot stuff is what makes OlbyWatch such fun. So let me give a shout out to the commenters because are what Page Six was talking about in their Olby item today. Keep it up folks!

For a conservative site like this, I find it hard to believe that anyone here would have an issue with a man trying to get what he thinks is his fair market value. His show has created ratings increases for MSNBC, publicity for MSNBC from his appearances on talk shows and blurbs about this site, and of course he gave Johnny Dollar and Robert Cox the semblance of a actual life. Well let me take that back, Robert Cox does seem to have a life outside this site. You might not like him but he has every right to ask for any amount of money he wants. If NBC decides to not pay him that amount, then it is their decision. As we know from our own personal experiences in salary negotiation, you always start out high and then go lower. If Olbermann didn't exist, all you right wingers here would actually have to pay attention to the REALITY of the world around you rather then spending your time debunking a low rated cable news station program and feeling so full of yourselves in the process. That might shake the foundations of your reasoning so best not to try it.

"but all I really cared about was that we made Page Six today which is totally awesome."

    Robert Cox

    Dave...

    Robert's reaction says it all....

"but all I really cared about was that we made Page Six today which is totally awesome."

The site is done for FUN....Olbermann supplies the absurd material that can be easily satirized or debunked. People with common sense, in their spare time, then take issue with the crazed leftist.

The request for the 3 million dollar raise is the perfect example of his absurdity and hypocrisy. As a typical liberal, Keith Olbermann shows us once again that his world view is vacant of any real principle. Why? Because liberals always claim they want economic parity then act like typical greedy fools.....

Please, someone from the left, based on the left's PUBLIC rhetoric, tell me how making 4M a year for what he does is fair/acceptable when hundreds of people around him probably make less than 75K a year?......Based on the liberal's world view, Olbermann is being GREEDY. He's acting like those nasty oil companies, Haliburton, big pharma and ENRON.....But that analysis is abandoned when it becomes a personal financial issue of a leftist.....

Just like the other limosine liberals.....

    Kennedy
    Pelosi
    Clinton
    Rodham-Clinton
    Kerry
    Rockefeller
    Edwards
    Gore

    and SOOOOO many more.....

VERY rich people telling the rest of us poor slobs that the bad people are all the OTHER rich people....

Well, IMHO, Keith Olbermann is a liberal fraud who deserves what he is worth.....about $3.20 worth of raw material that supports his orange epidermis and holds those hair plugs.

I'll send my $3.20 check to MSNBC this morning.

Reality check for Mr. Olbermann and his supporters who actually are stupid enough to believe that he deserves a $3 million dollar raise: Brian Williams earns $4M a year as anchor of the top-rated NBC Nightly News. Do you really mean to tell me that Olbermann is worth the same as the anchor of the network mother ship? The show that is top-rated? Do you mean to tell me that Olbermann is somehow equal to Williams who has gone to Iraq, who went to the Gulf Coast after Katrina and got dysentary in the process while Krazy Keith was cooling his heels in the safety of a studio in Secaucus and having one-night stands with fans? Do you mean to tell me that Olbermann, who slams his co-workers, slams his bosses at the network, who sends profanity-filled emails to viewers is worth more than Brian Williams who has never done any of the above? what planet are you people from exactly?

    Cee:

Yes, the reality of Capitalism is that very few people ever get paid exactly what they are 'worth'.

Overall, the free interprise system works better than any other system out there, warts and all. That doesn't make everything about it fair or 'right'.

I don't know any 'leftists' who are advocating that we could legislatively do anything about curbing excessive personal greed (other than a fair tax system), just that it is one of the 'warts' of the system that has to be tolerated.

For me, the allegation that KO is going after this ridiculous and unjustified pay raise is the worst thing I've heard yet about Olbermann's character, but you guys on the right should be cheering this kind of audacity!

The guys on the right cheer for people who deserve and earn their salary. The guys on the left judge what people have and determine if it should be redistributed....Except, of course, their own fortunes and family money like.....

    Kennedy
    Pelosi
    Clinton
    Rodham-Clinton
    Kerry
    Rockefeller
    Edwards
    Gore

Oh and I forgot Reid....the smart real estate tycoon who has friends in good places.

Dave and Mike, Cee is spot on the purpose of this site and how it should be approached.

Ignore the abusive agitators and dingbats (good advice if only I followed it myself), have a good exchange of ideas and have fun.

R W Cox's tongue in cheek approach is so readily distinguished from his rarer serious comments that I'm astounded that you guys didn't pick up on it.

    Janet Hawkins
    AKA Grammie

For me, the allegation that KO is going after this ridiculous and unjustified pay raise is the worst thing I've heard yet about Olbermann's character

No, e-mailing a heckler and telling him to "Kill yourself" is worse. And flashing the Seig Hitler salute in public (and making a big joke about it on the tonight Show) thus dredging up horrific memories of the extemination of Jews and other groups during the Holocaust is also worse.

Deserve has nothing to do with it. Ask high, settle low. MSNBC likes Keith. He\'s one of their stars. He\'ll probably end up getting 2mill. And OW will be able to stay in business. You\'ll probably have Keith to Olberwatch for quite a while.

Cee says..... "The guys on the right cheer for people who deserve and earn their salary. The guys on the left judge what people have and determine if it should be redistributed"

Please come back to the real world where the right and left both have people that make lots of money whether they deserve it or not. No one cares whether you deserve the money unless you are on a sports team. The only thing both sides care about is having the ability to improve your living by getting a raise. I didn't realize you were so against people trying to get what they think is a fair market price for their services. How elitist of you.

Janet: Who says I "didn't pick up on it", regarding the R. Cox post? I don't recall responding to it.

My responses were to Cee, who doesn't sound like he's "having fun" with most of his Neoconish type posts.

Posts at DU when it came to light that the First Lady had worn a $5000 plus dress to a party at the White House: The Rich are Evil, heartless, etc etc etc. Posts at DU when Olbermann demands a $4 million raise, the same amount NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams makes: Give him the money! Don't you just love the never-ending double-standards with the Olbyloon crew? Money is bad when it's being made by Republicans, but they are all for it when someone on "their side" (never mind he continually claims he's not-LIAR) demands an outrageous salary.

Well, it depends on what you use your evil rich dollars for, now doesn't it? Do you wanna use all them big bucks to undermine the constitution and lie/torture your way through a bungled, costly and ill-advised elective regime change? Or do you wanna use your big bucks to oppose such demonstrably flawed values and failed policies?

Mike, my mistake. No insult intended. My comment was more of surprise that you had missed the different tones used by R W Cox.

    Sorry,

    Janet Hawkins
    AKA Grammie

Uh Mike, I have posters like the professor and Loin calling me either a redneck, a corporatist or just plain stupid for supporting The President. I give out as I take it....

    And even that is fun.

Grammie is one tough lady, though....I would look out for her!

    Janet,

First I like and respect Robert Cox even though I do not agree with him. Second I think you missed the ironic humor that goes with the Robert Cox quote. Here is a person who is obviously educated. He runs a political blog that spends it's time questioning every fact, source, and comment from a cable news channel program and takes itself seriously in that context. At the same time he gushes about getting a mention in the gossip section of a tabloid newspaper and sounding like a thirteeen year old girl in the process.

"but all I really cared about was that we made Page Six today which is totally awesome."

    Robert Cox or Roberta Cox?

laura spending $5K on a dress is Evil. Olbermann spending $10,000 plus on a single baseball card? Why it's an act of God! You people are hypocrites through and through. Either money is good or it's not but if you think for one minute that Olbermann intends to set up a charitable foundation with his dollars, you're even dumber than I suspected.

And oh yes, one more thing to Mr. Bob: Sorry if I find your friend's hard luck stories a little too hard to believe but that writing style wasn't your usual drivel in the least. It tells me that it's probably a cut and paste job.

More Olbyloon idiocy labeled as "argument":

Why do you folks bash Olbermann over his ratings when this site doesn't get a lot of hits?

Here you have Dave who takes the time to share that he respects Bob though he doesn't share his political views.

"At the same time"... Dave goes to the trouble of jibbing Bob over what should be Bob's understandable elation over publicity for his blog.

Here you have Dave who takes the time to post on this site.

"At the same time"... he suggests that Olbermann Watchers waste their time in fisking a "low-rated cable television show"...

Life's positively full of irony, isn't it Dave?...

    Remember....

"The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil."

A wiser statement on the subject there never has been.....

Keith Olbermann better be careful about his greed....it may be his undoing!

    Cecilia,

First I was not "jibbing" him about being happy that there was publicity for his site. I was "jibbing" him about using the words "totally awesome" to describe excitement of getting his site mentioned in what is usually a very sleazy gossip column. I can repect the guy and make fun of him. That is possible without being ironic at least with people that have a sense of humor.

I also never said anyone else here wasted their time by debunking KO. Here is my quote so you don't have to scroll up...

"If Olbermann didn't exist, all you right wingers here would actually have to pay attention to the REALITY of the world around you rather then spending your time debunking a low rated cable news station program"

My point here had nothing to do with people wasting time. I didn't say that. I said "spending time". I did say Johnny Dollar has no life and I stand by that. I was "jibbing" the politics of the political right on this site. I was saying their obsession with proving everything Olbermann says wrong has gotten in the way of them having an objective view of the world. Hence I don't see the irony you are pointing out.

Cecilia is like the Washington Generals of this site. She puts up some points but always loses the game.

'"If Olbermann didn't exist, all you right wingers here would actually have to pay attention to the REALITY of the world around you rather then spending your time debunking a low rated cable news station program"

My point here had nothing to do with people wasting time. I didn't say that. I said "spending time".'

Right, Dave...no implication of time wasted there...

Dave is like all the chiding control freak Olbyloons who confuse "reality" with their own personal druthers... he puts up points... and...just sounds damn silly...

I'd rather sound silly than dumb.

I'd rather sound silly than dumb.

Well, try harder then because you've a lock on both characterists.

Hey I'm not the one who pointed out irony where it didn't exist.

"Hey I'm not the one who pointed out irony where it didn't exist."

    (irony)

Again another incorrect use of the term irony. Keep trying. You'll get it right eventually. We're all pulling for you sweetie.

"Again another incorrect use of the term irony. Keep trying. You'll get it right eventually. We're all pulling for you sweetie."

    (sarcasm...as opposed to irony)

    You keep pulling...

    DING DING DING

You got something right. We are all very proud of you. Even the Washington Generals have won a few times.

    "DING DING DING

You got something right. We are all very proud of you. Even the Washington Generals have won a few times."

Just most of the major wars.

    Ding Ding Ding...

Oh no...on Tuesday COUNTDOWN was in 4th place in both demo and total viewers.

Why is Olbermann showing how shallow and noncommited his lousy fans really are during this tense negotiation process?

It looks to me like Keith Olbermann has had his 15 minutes of shame (I mean, fame).

I am very surprised that he did not bother to find a fill-in at least for this week.

The man has no friends, Jane...who would he ask?

He wants to show off his special comments.

There is no way he can make 4 Mil, same as Brian Williams and I think Tom Brokaw was making just about the same amount. Besides, these kind of special comments will only last for a while. NBC actually requests him to do it every night with special comments, his answer is he will do it only if he gets the feel, pissing people off.

    Point of clarification:

Your math is faulty - it's a 300% increase, not a 400% increase. A 400% increase would be if Keith were making $0 now. Since he is making $1 million, the equation should be:

    ($4 million - $1 million)/$1 million * 100% = 300%

You know math more than Keith.

The article today said he raised MSNBC profile, raised the election night ratings from last year and his own show ratings, everything is raised. So he is a star now.

Ensign Expendable, sorry but your math is just as faulty as whoever you are correcting.

A 400% increase if he made zero dollars leaves him with the same salary of zero. You can do any multiplication you want starting with zero and you will always end with zero.

If he gets the raise his new salary will be 400% of his old salary or an increase (you were correct on this) of 300%.

    Janet Hawkins
    AKA Grammie

Brian Williams makes $4 million a year. In no way, shape, or form is KO worth Brian Williams level money.

    Janet:

Fair enough, but I posted it mainly to get Robert Cox to change the banner. It's not a 400% raise, it's a 300% raise. That's the quibble I have.

EE, I was just being snide. Riding herd on some the posters here leaves me in a testy sometimes.

And, I should have caught myself. R W Cox should change it, I guess.
