Feb. 23, 2007— - Federal agents arrested Charles Rust-Tierney, the former president of the Virginia chapter of the ACLU, Friday in Arlington for allegedly possessing child pornography.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by ABC News, Rust-Tierney allegedly used his e-mail address and credit card to subscribe to and access a child pornography website.

The complaint states that federal investigations into child pornography websites revealed that "Charles Rust-Tierney has subscribed to multiple child pornography website over a period of years."

As recently as last October, the complaint alleges, "Rust-Tierney purchased access to a group of hardcore commercial child pornography websites."

Complaint Alleges Access to Graphic Material

Rust-Tierney admitted to investigators that he had downloaded videos and images from child pornography websites onto CD-ROMs, according to the complaint.

The videos described in the complaint depict graphic forcible intercourse with prepubescent females. One if the girls is described in court documents as being "seen and heard crying", another is described as being "bound by rope."

The investigation is being conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and the Arlington County Police as part of the Northern Virginia and District of Columbia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Rust-Tierney made an initial appearance in a federal court in Alexandria, VA, Friday. He is being detained pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday, February 28.

Youth Coach, Argued Against Restricting Public Internet

Rust Tierney coaches various youth sports teams in and around Arlington, Virginia, according to court documents.

In the past, Rust-Tierney had argued against restricting Internet access in public libraries in Virginia, writing, "Recognizing that individuals will continue to behave responsibly and appropriately while in the library, the default should be maximum, unrestricted access to the valuable resources of the Internet."

Calls to Rust-Tierney's home were not answered and calls to the ACLU of Virginia were not immediately returned.

I noticed something interesting on the radio show this week. Olbermann was making comments about what a slacker that Anderson Cooper was and how he wore blue bulletproof vests when he was in the field to "match his eyes". Guess where I've heard those very same type of comments? In KO fan forums. Either Olbermann is posting on his own fan threads (and since we know he solicits fans for sex, that's totally possible) or he's reading them. I don't know which is more pathetic.

Has KK even been to Iraq? I don't like 360 spinner,but, KK has some nerve to blast someone who has 3 times the balls he does, even though AC is half his size! Orangy's hypocrisy knows no boundaries, as Wyatt Earp would say....

KK? Do you mean Olbermann? If so, the answer is hell no. Olbermann never went down to cover a single hurricane, not even Hurricane Katrina. He's never been to Iraq. He didn't cover the Tsunami either. He simply does not cover stories from the field unless they involve sitting in a cushy "location" studio in D.C. or NYC. His fans like to say it's because he has "illnesses" which prevent his flying but they somehow can't explain how it is that Olbermann can fly to Los Angeles several times a year to appear on talk shows and receive awards or how Olbermann could travel to Florida three times last year to watch Spring Training baseball games.

See, Olbermann's fans spend a great majority of their time trying to apologize for something Olbermann has or hasn't done. They come up with excuses for him, whether they have a single thread of truth in them. You know that Nazi salute he made? Total photoshop job according to them. A part of a sophisticated plot to destroy Keith's "credibility" between the writer of the article that appeared in a well-respected television industry journal and the photographer who took that photo. That wild-ass theory went away though when Olbermann went on Jay Leno's show and "joked" about flashing the deeply offensive Heil Hitler salute. And about that salute? Why that's just an obscure reference to a mistake that o'Reilly made on air and later corrected.

See, that's why Olbermann is "justified" for his outrageous behaviors. Sort of how the Tom Paine.com writer has now called him out on his remarks towards women on air. Their excuse? Paris and Britney are sluts and they deserve it! The irony of a group of women attacking other women isn't lost on me but it sure seems to be lost on them, along with a lot of other things, like common sense where Olbermann is concerned. They are utterly deaf, dumb and blind when it comes to Olbermann's many, many, many flaws and shortcomings.

Speaking up against what is right, wrong, indifferent or lying is a right we all cherish, enjoy and were born with. We don't have to earn it a la Teresa Heinz's assertion in her speech at the Dem Convention.

I didn't say they're all little angels. I said either Bush is letting terrorists go free or maybe the detainees he's released aren't all terrorists. Either way, his judgment and anyone else's judgment involves must be questioned. To simply take their word that they're 100% correct after they've been proven wrong multiple times seems idiotic. If we caught them fighting with weapons as was said, it seems pretty easy to convict them of crimes.

Colbert thinks we are over in Hell driving around picking up innocent women and children and throwing them in Gitmo for no reason.

Several ex-Gitmo detainees have been arrested in places like Russia and Morocco. They all agree that Gitmo was a f---ing paradise compared to where they are now.

Anyone remember the Olbyloon who thought that the U.S. was subjecting Padilla to extreme punishment by housing him in a Supermax federal facility just like many other inmates in the federal prison system? No, they were utterly convinced that it was only Padilla that was being treated that way and it was all an evil plot on behalf of the Bush government. They were totally ignorant of standard prisoner treatment within the federal prison system and honestly believed the drivel they'd read on their liberal websites. I refuse to feel sorry for a terrorist, they can sympathize with them all they want to but I will not be a party to that kind of behavior.

What would a canadian citizen be doing in Iraq during a time of war? He was up to no good, that's why!

Well, Chicken Blogger, to be perfectly honest with you, I don't give one flying f**k if half of them are innocent shepherds if the other half can and would do harm to my country and my family if given half a chance.

Based on instinct and the overall situation I would be very surprised if even 1/2 of 1% are totally innocent.

A battlefield is and has always been chaotic. Mistakes will always be made. Our country, more than virtually any other country, will as a matter of POLICY always use the most honest and compassionate rules of engagement.

We do this at great risk to our own brave men and women in the field. I believe we shoul loosen up those rules. That's bad enough. But extending that to the point of putting civilans at any risk is insanity.

Arar was never in Gitmo. He has dual citizenship with Syria and Canada. Based on info from the RCMP he was detained in a stopover in New York and renditioned to Syria.

I assume the vast majority listen each day so divide that number by 5 to get his actual listeners. Bill Orally's viewers largely account for the other show's viewers on Fox I'd assume. He has 3 million viewers a night tops? There are 300 million people in this country. I wouldn't say their listeners/viewers constitute a majority.

That is true Joker. It is possible that a comet of asteroid slammed into a planet with life on it and then bounced off carrying with it life in simple cellular form or even simple RNA segments that carried replication abilities.

Many cosmologists acknowledge this as a viable way life may have began here. But when you consider the statistical likelihood of extra-planetary origins with the ideal life producing environment of the earth it seems more likely that it began here.

But it is possible.

Third, the plan would create a massive jobs program while increasing reconstruction aid -- especially from the oil-rich Gulf states -- but tying it to the protection of minority rights.

Andrew Sullivan? Has been an apologist of Bush's "until recently"?

For someone to claim that the above list of folks have supported every policy of Bush is a remarkable statement of ignorance.

Every single one of those folks (with the exception of unnamed Fox news people; who? O'Reilly) has repeatedly criticized this Administration's policies on a whole host of issues.

Malkin has excoriated the Bush Administration's immigration policies for example. Reynolds has condemned the White House's fiscal policies. So has Goldberg and the Powerline folks.

On issues-after-issue all of the above folks have distanced themselves from the White House on a number of policies.

The way to look at the number is in comparison to your overall financial situation. We had much higher debt, for example, during WWII.

Someone who has a $10,000 debt but has an income of $50,000 is in worse shape than someone who has $100,000 in debt but a $750,000 income.

Over 15 years ago a reporter for the Financial Times named Alan Friedman uncovered the truth about the US arming Saddam Hussein:

* President Bush and Secretary of State James Baker had committed billions of taxpayer dollars to assist Saddam Hussein.
* Bush and Baker allowed the export of U.S. technology that would directly help Baghdad build a massive arsenal of chemical, biological and possibly nuclear weapons. The arms were given to help Iraq fight Iran.
* The CIA helped orchestrated illegal arms deals that involved Pinochet supporters in Chile, the apartheid regime in South Africa as well as most of the major NATO allies in Europe.

I don't think Bush will go into Iran with the same rules of engagement as he did in Iraq. When we go into Iran, it will be by air only, to take out the nuke facilities. How about a few million. Would you like to review the actual history and realities of slavery and segregation done to a race of people at a time and a place when and where any poor white person could come to this country and seek the American dream of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

Segregation ended only 53 years ago. Many Christian people fought to keep segregation alive. They're children are alive. Do you suppose much of the children of parents who championed the reasons for segregation condemn it now? I imagine there are millions of Christians in this nation who actively segregate themselves merely because they no longer can outlaw "race mixing".

The history is long. Do we really need to review parts of it to convince you that all major religions have an element to their society that is religious and immoral just as they have religious and moral people?

Bush actually showed his true colors during 911, but we don't him Bush nearly as much grief as he deserves.

After he was told by his chief of staff that a second plane had hit the second tower, he just sat there in that classroom for another 5 - 7 minutes. I have never been able to reconcile in my mind how a true leader could have done that.

Chief of staff Andrew Card did not say "a second plane has hit the second tower". Andrew Card whispered in Mr. Bush's ear "the country is under attack". It is just incomprehensible that a competent president and commander in chief would just sit there like that in a grade school classroom for that long of a time when he knew full well that "the country was under attack".

There are numerous blogs to discuss the actual issues. But in our postmodern world what is interesting about THIS site is discussing the "discussion" of the issues. The Bush Administration really screwed up because everyone knows that Sandy Berger told them that al Quaeda was out there and when Berger told Bush how al Quaeda was going to fly planes into the Twin Towers, Bush should have done something about it. If only Bush had listened to Sandy Berger, who is somebody who tells it like it is and is honest, so there is no doubt that Berger gave them the heads up.

He is a lot like Keith Olbermann someone who is simply a seeker of the truth. It is really interesting how the truth seekers are made to suffer. That is the way the world is. Keith is not perfect, but his flaws should be overlooked because he is a person who delivers the news in a way that just tells the facts and gives all sides a chance to be heard. I wish that other journalists would follow Olbermann's example and tell the whole truth. No wonder he this generation's Edward R. Murrow.

Um, professor, the founders wanted elected officials of the representative branch of our government to pursue policies supported by "the people." According to your rants, they should be:

Removing The President from office
Removing The VP from office
Removing our troops from Iraq.....

They are not pursuing these goals.....don't get mad at me for pointing out the truth!

The founders expected the elected executive, elected every 4 years, to use his CONSTITUIONAL power to protect the interests of our country. THOUSANDS of soldiers in Iraq are part of this national interest, (not to mention our commitment to the democratically elected government of Iraq), so I am of the opinion that pursuing goals that make the Iraq mission successful is the correct path.
