"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith Olbermann
Topics/Guests:
Liberal Keith Olbermahn bellowed the opening spiel: UBL and training camps, the "right-wing" [Ding!], Walter Reed, "24" again, the "torture doesn't work" lie, Anna Nicole Smith, and Harry Potter nude (he "shows us his magic wand"). Such excitement.
#5: Intelligence. The Wolffe Man purred, liberal Olby cited Hersh and brought up Iran-Contra, and remote controls all across America began clicking furiously. Great thanks. KO Key Words: squander credibility, manipulate intel, spin, talking points, softballs (liberal Keith's favorite passtime, to judge from his blue-dress interviews), cherry-picking, unraveling, secrecy.
#4: Walter Reed (Blue Blog Source: Think Progress). KO Key Words: disingenous, disconnect.
#3: Politics '08. Obama ahead of Clinton among backs, Guiliani ahead of Richard McCain. KO Key Words: carrying Bush water, twice-divorced, evangelicals, counter-intuitive, self-fulfilling prophecy [Ding!].
#2: Harry Potter (regurgitated video), Anna Nicole Smith, her dog SugarPie, American Idol. #1: "24" and torture (Blue Blog Source: Think Progress). KO Key Words: Fox Noise channel, rationalization.
In the Media Matters Minute: the "reprehensible" [Olbersaurus!] Melanie Morgan (Blue Blog Source: Media Matters).
Dogs that did not bark: The following perfectly encapsulates the bias of "Man on Fan" Olbermann. While he has avoided reporting the decrease in killings since the Baghdad crackdown commenced, liberal Olby has eagerly trumpeted every piece of bad news he could scrape up. Just yesterday, he bellowed: "18 young boys died when a bomb blew up at a soccer field in Ramadi." Today it turns out that report was, to say the least, accuracy-challenged. Did liberal Keith update the story tonight? Did he tell his credulous viewers that his report may have been in error? That doesn't happen on OlbyPlanet. Just as liberal Oralmann won't mention this, he won't even report the good news that 18 young boys weren't killed at all. They name streets after guys like Olbermahn: "One-Way". Finally, in our assessment of Keith Olbermann's masculinity, this week liberal Olbermann attacked Fox, CNN, and right-wing pundits five times; Olby criticisms of MSNBC: zero. His primary sources (Media Matters/Think Progress) criticized MSNBC three times. That makes this week's Olbermann Manhood Quotient: -12 [limp].
Olbermann's book The book that bears Olberman's name is #4,425 at amazon.com, while "Culture Warrior" is #261. (It's that 2-for-$25 sale!) The OlbyTome is #2,566 at Barnes & Noble; O'Reilly's book is #1,007 there, and is now in its 21st week on the New York Times bestsellers list. Tuesday's Hour of Spin lost to The O'Reilly Factor by nearly four to one, but eeked out a second place finish both in total viewers and in the critical, beloved, all-important, coveted "key demo". And though it had the night off, we wish to take this opportunity to thank The MisterMeter for its many months of yeomanlike service in documenting the insufferable superciliousness of the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermahn.
Yours truly, Johnny Dollar
where are on these new heads up keify ass pundit's coming from? I guess keify had to find a new crop of America hater's or tv whore's after slandering an American Hero, American troop's and disabled American's in one show. LIFE IS GRAND for last place keify.
Have I missed something? Why does this "show" come on an hour later now? Is olby finally conceding defeat against O'Reilly? What happened?
I think Olby will lower himself to any depth to defame Fox. He's that envious of their success.
Fox News Admits It’s a Joke
The 1/2 Hour Daily Show wannabe.
Most TV producers would kill for the sort of success Comedy Central has had with The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and its spin-off, The Colbert Report. Both follow Colbert’s maxim that “the truth has a well-known liberal bias,” and both have legions of adoring fans. It was only so long before someone tried to cash in with a similar concept, but one targeting a redder part of the political spectrum. That day is upon us. Those watching the end of Hannity’s America on Fox News Sunday night saw Hannity introduce The 1/2 Hour News Hour and explain that “whenever I’ve seen shows like this in the past, conservatives, they always take the brunt of the joke, so tonight we bring you some balance.”
1/2 Hour, which premiered at 10 p.m. on Sunday night and stars Kurt Long and Susan Yeagley as its anchors, is the brainchild of 24 co-creator Joel Surnow. Long opened with an impressively subtle joke: “Dispelling reports that she would staff her White House with longtime cronies and political appointees, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton vowed that if she becomes president, she will surround herself with a diverse, multi-ethnic, multigenerational group of angry lesbians.”
And in case that wasn’t was heavy-handed and unrestrained enough, the show became even more aggressive. This became painfully clear during a back-and-forth between Long and Yeagley dealing with And Tango Makes Three a controversial book based on two real-life gay penguins at the New York Aquarium who raised a chick together. Some other books, the anchors tell us, are also catching flack for presenting adult themes to children. A rapid-fire series of jokes follow, each presented in the form of a fake picture book and dealing with a different topic. Homosexuality: Harry Potter and the Alternative Lifestyle. The economy: The Lion, the Witch the Wardrobe and the Budget Deficit. Body image issues: Little Women with Junk in the Trunk. Healthcare: Charlie and the Cholesterol Factory, James and the Giant Melanoma, and Garfield Goes to the Free Clinic.
Laughing yet? Of course you’re not. It’s not funny to switch one word for another. If it were, I could say that another controversial children’s book is Cloudy with a Chance of Iraq, and it would be funny. But it’s not.
In an attempt to slaughter every liberal sacred cow, in one episode, they decided to go after Senator Barack Obama. Long explains that since admitting he used cocaine when he was younger, Obama’s popularity among Democrats “plummet[ed] to an all-time low of 99.9 percent.” He goes on: “But, in a related story, Senator Obama has just been endorsed for president by former Washington, D.C., mayor Marion Barry.” May as well riff on O.J. Simpson and Chappaquiddick while you’re at it. You can watch the whole plodding segment on Obama here.
Dated references aside, many of 1/2 Hour’s problems can be traced back to its reliance on straw men and caricatures. There was a long riff on how actor and environmentalist Ed Begley Jr. was supposed to be the guest Sunday night but he did not arrive because his electric car didn’t work. But there’s no factual basis to it.
When you watch Jon Stewart, on the other hand, you’re presented with a substantive basis for his critiques. Take a recent example: Stewart is discussing the non-binding congressional resolution to condemn Bush’s Iraq escalation, and how utterly ineffectual it is. He shows a couple of clips from the resolution, clips that say that members of House “support and protect the members of the United States Armed Forces,” but disapprove of “the decision of President George W. Bush.” Stewart makes a series of panicky noises. “Disapproves? Can we even say that on TV? Oh my God, I hope they didn’t bleep that.” The joke works because Stewart is pointing out how ridiculous it is for the House to have such a heated, interminable debate over a resolution that won’t actually do anything. In other words, it’s firmly rooted to something actually going on.
1/2 Hour refuses to make the effort to set up its jokes or consistently anchor them to real, specific references. The show is all punch lines—and poor punch lines, for the most part. A few of the jokes do work—I chuckled when Yeagley said that Dennis Kucinich had called for a return of the fairness doctrine, but “unfortunately, he said it on Air America radio so nobody heard it.” Even when 1/2 Hour is successful, however—and these instances are few and far between—it’s not living up to what it promises. The show is being marketed as a conservative alternative to The Daily Show, but would Stewart ever pause at the idea of making fun of Kucinich? Obviously he would not, because he has done so before.
This could be the ultimate undoing of 1/2 Hour: the idea that its role is to serve as the conservative counterpoint to Stewart. What Surnow and the show’s other handlers don’t seem to get is that Stewart really isn’t all that biased. The show has a liberal slant, yes, but Stewart is, above all else, a bullsh-t detector. He never refrains from pointing out when a liberal says or does something stupid. Stewart’s stance is that he is amused by the circus of U.S. politics, and he’s so sick of the way the country is run, that he’s not about to hand out any free passes for those who sit on one particular side of the aisle. Stewart can ridicule John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Kucinich, and the rest as effectively as anybody. This leaves 1/2 Hour without a niche. For it to get better, it will have to pay closer attention to specific examples of what real public figures are saying and doing, but it is unlikely to ever be as deft as The Daily Show.
He compares Kiefer Sutherland to McGruff the Crime Dog? The air definitely is thin on Olbyplanet.
Have I missed something? Why does this "show" come on an hour later now? Is olby finally conceding defeat against O'Reilly? What happened?

WTF?
Why is anyone shocked about Walter Reed?...its a government run intuition of course it's run badly!!!! just like government schools and for all the outrage the MSM and the left are having over it they still want all of us to have the same government controlled healthcare system..remember Hillarycare?
Yours truly, Johnny Dollar

Yep --- we lost Olbermann Watch.com --- or atleast Johnny Dollar who was the driving force of this website ...
mlong: The blame game is not needed for Walter Reed. Moralizing the situation on "Hillarization" misses the point --- but you always do anyway. Read on...
William Winkenwerder, the assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, said the staff at the facility shares in the responsibility but added that the problems did not have to do with funding.
BBC reported the collapse of WTC 7 (a.k.a. The Salomon Building) 30 min before it actually collapsed. CNN echoed that same report almost an hour before the collapse. Both news agencies verbatim reported the official story of the buildings collapse BEFORE it happened.
Can anyone say prior knowledge to a buildings implosion!
Who gave the press release an hour early? and who had it all figured out before it all happened? The only way this could have happened is they KNEW it was going to implode because they had pre-placed explosives prior to that day.
You guys need to take your eyes off the bouncing red ball and wake up to the fact that your country is being taken away from you right before your cathode eyes.
Patriotism is love for ones COUNTRY not for your leaders or there propagandists!
I love this country and our freedoms as I'm sure most of you do.
The only way we are going to keep them is if we wake up and tell our congressmen and women to quit giving this administration a free ride in the disastrous decisions that have helped erode our nations sovereignty and respect of other nations the world over.
All of this war and rumors of more wars are done in the name of the victims of 9/11. For me this is the most despicable part of it all.
Stand up for your fellow citizens that died that day and let them know that you really care about there lives.
INVESTIGATE 9/11!
Alex J Freeman
What? No more J$? It cannot be.
olbermann's fear of a giuliani candidacy should said every christian conservative to the voting booth despite giuliani's moderate stances. wake up falwell, dobson, you crazy asses, giuliani is the one man no democrat can defeat, at least not the fringe crop of candidates that have showed up so far.
rudy giuliani/jeb bush 2008
The 9/11 conspiracy kooks have been blocked from posting at the Countdown Bung Hole blog so now they've come to set up camp here. Gee, thanks.
Well, I think that's a testament to Bob and J$ and their commitment to supporting varying opinions and commentary. I also believe think the 9/11 conspiracy kooks need to get back on their meds. They are quite annoying.
I didn't hear Olby mention anything about a certain cable host named Glenn Beck. Hmmm...
MD: I am going to vote for a RCox/J$ ticket in 2008 ---
This site isn't going anywhere is it?
I bet NBC wishes KO would spend as much time watching their own network as he does with FOX. Everynight there is some mention of it. He is so transparently jealous!!!
Forget 9/11 heres a real conspiracy that is just a believable...
Uncomfortable Questions: Was the Death Star Attack an Inside Job?
Posted in Conspiracy Theories | Wednesday, February 28th, 2007
We,ve all heard the official conspiracy theory of the Death Star attack. We all know about Luke Skywalker and his ragtag bunch of rebels, how they mounted a foolhardy attack on the most powerful, well-defended battle station ever built. And weve all seen the video over, and over, and over, of the one-in-a-million shot that resulted in a massive chain reaction that not just damaged, but completely obliterated that massive technological wonder.
Like many Americans, I was fed this story when I was growing up. But as I watched the video, I began to realize that all was not as it seemed. And the more I questioned the official story, the deeper into the rabbit hole I went.
Presented here are some of the results of my soul-searching regarding this painful event. Like many citizens, I have many questions that I would like answered: was the mighty Imperial government really too incompetent to prevent a handful of untrained nerf-herders from destroying one of their most prized assets? Or are they hiding something from us? Who was really behind the attack? Why did they want the Death Star destroyed? No matter what the answers, we have a problem.
Below is a summary of my book, Uncomfortable Questions: An Analysis of the Death Star Attack, which presents compelling evidence that we all may be the victims of a fraud of immense proportions.
Uncomfortable Questions about the Death Star Attack
1) Why were a handful of rebel fighters able to penetrate the defenses of a battle station that had the capability of destroying an entire planet and the defenses to ward off several fleets of battle ships?
2) Why did Grand Moff Tarkin refuse to deploy the station’s large fleet of TIE Fighters until it was too late? Was he acting on orders from somebody to not shoot down the rebel attack force? If so, who, and why?
3) Why was the rebel pilot who supposedly destroyed the Death Star reported to be on the Death Star days, maybe hours, prior to its destruction? Why was he allowed to escape, and why were several individuals dressed in Stormtrooper uniforms seen helping him?
4) Why has there not been an investigation into allegations that Darth Vader, the second-ranking member of the Imperial Government, is in fact the father of the pilot who allegedly destroyed the Death Star?
5) Why did Lord Vader decide to break all protocols and personally pilot a lightly armored TIE Fighter? Conveniently, this placed Lord Vader outside of the Death Star when it was destroyed, where he was also conveniently able to escape from a large-sized rebel fleet that had just routed the Imperial forces. Why would Lord Vader, one of the highest ranking members of the Imperial Government, suddenly decide to fly away from the Death Star in the middle of a battle? Did he know something that the rest of the Imperial Navy didn’t?
6) How could any pilot shoot a missile into a 2 meter-wide exhaust port, let alone a pilot with no formal training, whose only claim to fame was his ability to “bullseye womprats†on Tatooine? This shot, according to one pilot, would be “impossible, even for a computer.†Yet, according to additional evidence, the pilot who allegedly fired the missile turned off his targeting computer when he was supposedly firing the shot that destroyed the Death Star. Why have these discrepancies never been investigated, let alone explained?
7) Why has their been no investigation into evidence that the droids who provided the rebels with the Death Star plans were once owned by none other than Lord Vader himself, and were found, conveniently, by the pilot who destroyed the Death Star, and who is also believed to be Lord Vader’s son? Evidence also shows that the droids were brought to one Ben Kenobi, who, records indicate, was Darth Vader’s teacher many years earlier! Are all these personal connections between the conspirators and a key figure in the Imperial government supposed to be coincidences?
8) How could a single missile destroy a battle station the size of a moon? No records, anywhere, show that any battle station or capital ship has ever been destroyed by a single missile. Furthermore, analysis of the tape of the last moments of the Death Star show numerous small explosions along its surface, prior to it exploding completely! Why does all evidence indicate that strategically placed explosives, not a single missile, is what destroyed the Death Star?
Because it was the work of Hollyweird liberals?
The 9/11 conspiracy kooks....
So Mr. anti-conspiracy what is it you hang your hat on as for what happened on 9/11...is it Osama bin Laden did it. Lol Not even the F.B.I thinks Osama did it, they've completely dismantled the office in charge of looking for him. Hmmm maybe your so delusional you actually think Sadam Hussein did it...
Wake up "no name" your a conspiracy theorist for believing the official story! Keep in mind there wouldn't even be an official story if it were not for brave family members of victims of 9/11 and other concerned citizens that demanded answers that the government had no intention of answering.
They avoided any investigation up till the point it almost looked like they were hiding something and then whitewashed the whole thing with bought and payed for insiders.
Keith kind of, sort of, accidentally apologized on the Dan Patrick Show today in the name of all those on the left who posted blog messages/responses of disappointment that Dick Cheney wasn't killed by the suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan on Tuesday.
He actually was apologizing in the name of himself and the media if any comments had resulted in death threats against Barry Bonds, after Patrick played a KGO interview of Bonds saying he's reluctant to meet with people after receiving death threats. Keith then added that death threats go beyond the pale "in sports or politics". So I suppose that's one teeny-tiny -- even if unplanned -- baby step on the road to recovery, though I'm sure some of his main supporters must be feeling a bit hurt and confused right now that their video champion has found a rhetorical bridge too far.
No, Olbermann is sorry he's received death threats. He's not sorry that any REPUBLICAN political figure has received them.
The joke is on you, I hear some serious jealously in your little rant/critique. Was it the aclu slams that gotcha?
I didn't hear Olby mention anything about a certain cable host named Glenn Beck. Hmmm...

Ulbermahn knows Glenn Beck will tear him a new one, wise decision, Ulby. Beck tells the whole story, like I do, facts. Go Glenn!
People --- you are all missing a universal trait of commentators and figures --- when they are insulted --- they usually do not respond on air to the taunter. I have seen this happen lots and lots of times when I hoped that a personality could make a response to a tough comment or action or two ... but there was no reaction and thus --- I was upset that there could have been real action !!!
Zero Mistermeter again? Tough when the facts don't fit your biases, huh...
I realize that this is probably not big news to our Anna Nicole and O'Reilly fans, but Bush seems to have surrendered today. I don't know how else one would read his decision to enter into talks with Iraq, Iran and Syria. A couple of years ago, this would have been a master stroke of diplomacy. Now, it's just surrender. Well, he was never anything but a bully and a brat. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. So does Bush. In the other direction.
John
It was planned that way. Olby wanted to do it on a show that gets even less ratings then him. How many of these loons tune into the Dan Patrick Show?
And look everybody lay off the 9/11 nut okay!
Hey look pal, whatever you say thats okay were with ya. If fact I didn't want to tell anybody this but since you're here A.J. I'll let you know.
On 9/10 I was having dinner downtown with one of my capitalist friends. And when I left I went to go catch the Path train back to Jersey. So as I was walking into the World Trade Center.
Wait! I don't know if I should say this here, er well.... Okay I might as well come clean. I might be dead in the morning but what the hell. THE TRUTH MUST BE TOLD!!!!
You see I saw this taxi pull up and George Bush & Dick Cheney got out and they went into the building and they had a bag with them, and they......wait! Whats that sound?????
Oh My God! I've got to hurry!!!!!!!! I watched them get on An elevator and I..I...I tried to.......follow them...... Oh no there here!!!! Oh my God A.J. Run!!!!! the've got......... THE TRUTH MUST BE TOLD! They know who you are!!!!!!!!!!A.J. A.J.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
CLICK!

Bicker, all due respect, it's the first time I heard described as "surrendering" all day, nobody said it but shultzy. Oh and you, kinda.
Bush needs to cling to his convictions. We do not need a wishy washy leader. This is why we rejected John Kerry ---
Psst, hey, is he gone?
www.lolloosechange.co.nr/
In some ways you got to feel sorry for a guy like that.
But what does get me is, who would give some college kid a boatload of money to make a film like that?
What socialist website did you track that down on?
---
Once again, your profound ignorance raises its ugly head. You don't have a clue what a socialist is. I was a nice guy earlier, and I gave you a good lesson about Clinton not being convicted and about the extraordinarily high number of convictions of top level personnel in the Reagan White House. I'll keep up the nice guy routine. Read, and I know how shocking that must sound to you, Campbell's SOCIALIST ECONOMIES IN TRANSITION. You won't understand much of it since it is written on a 5th grade level, but something might seep through.
You might even discover I am about as far from being a socialist as you are from being an intellectual.
I frequently think (although breathing for me is an involuntary reflex), and I seldom quote from websites. I best retrack, I downloaded some of your "contributions" and took them to the clubhouse earlier this evening. The guys got a good laugh. "Authentically clueless" was the most on-target critique, although "Was he a stem cell donor?" was pretty good. Don't worry, however, Hannity may need a copy editor.
Bicker, he is definately wishy washy, one day he has his cowboy boots on, like he should, the next he's got freakin' slippers on, if ya know what I mean. How you gonna kick ass w/slippers on? Boots, hat and a couple .357 mags on his hips, no .44 mags w/lots of bullets. Then maybe some certain politicians would get some respect and get their ass back to work!

Sice you added Hannity, I will take it as a comment.
schultzy, your "clubhouse" must be in San Fran Freako or something, you obviously did what would be known as "cherrypicking" I'm sure. Those are valid points a facts in any conservative "clubhouse".
Okay now I'm having voices in my head, but I want to see if I can call things.
Okay O'Reilly and the replay is on www.knew.com right now.
Lis Wheil was on today talking about her new book and I thought it was a good hour sort of a mini brawl broke out in the first half/hour. But when they went to the phone calls in the second half hour. I think a set up call came on, O'Reilly didn't bite. But it did seem the call had a lot of those nutty lib talking points.
The phone call was from Columbia,Miss I believe. I just want to see if it go's from there, to media matters, to you know where.
Just want to see if I can call one.
Good night, Jeff. I obviously overloaded you. You are more gibberish-laden than usual.
Just FYI: the Clubhouse is in southwest Texas, and the people who got the biggest laughs were my good John Birch/Curtis LeMay friends. They were sure I must have made you up.
And Brick wanted me to remind you that tomorrow it is your turn to take cookies to the Den Meeting.
Wonderful, a 9/11 conspiracy nut. The mad genius George Bush orcastrated 9/11 because skull and bones and the free masons told him to. No demolition experts believe this fairy tale, but when has the truth ever gotten in the way of liberalism.
Now Bush is surrendering to Iran. What a joke. Did you stupid liberals ever think that Iran is being forced to negotiate with the United States because the sanctions are crippling their already fragile economy? How about the fact that the Mulas are tire of Amadidaolbermann. They are tire of record inflation and not being able to pump their won oil. They are tire of other Arab nations telling them to make a deal with the United States. Wake up losers. Stop being blinded by you hate for George Bush.
"he mad genius George Bush orcastrated 9/11 because skull and bones and the free masons told him to. No demolition experts believe this fairy tale, but when has the truth ever gotten in the way of liberalism."
You are totally full of it. Perle, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz made plans to take Iraq well before Bush was elected. The exact phrase the neo-cons said was, "we need our Pearl Harbor"
This was in reference to having an excuse to trick the American voters into going along with the now huge problem the neo-cons have created in Iraq.
I doubt an idiot like you could allow yourself to watch such a convincing ducumentory as this but pleanty of other opened minded (there for smarter than you) people will.

Fool, who rejected John Kerry, a war hero and voted into office Bozo the Clown? You that's who.
Last I checked John Kerry won the election but because the Democrats were in on allowing 911 to happen (Clinton didn't kill Bin Laden when he had a chance)it was a fixed election.
John Kerry and the Democrats never contested the obviously stolen election (Florida and Ohio) simply because the Democrats are the second half of our "good cop bad cop" political system.
This is why Bush refused to meet with Richard Clark when he slapped his report on Condi's desk. A report she refused to read titled "Bin Laden determined to strike World Trade Center.

again, 3 minutes into this and you are hooked.
Perle, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz strong armed Bush into going along with this plot? Or was Bush tricked? How exactly did the get Bush to along with this little fair tale? I've seen all these goofy videos that show and prove nothing. Even some liberals who have not jumped off the deep end don't believe this non-sense. I have a question. How do Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld keep this a secret, when they can't even keep the bank transactions surveillance program secret from the NY times? Why is no left wing kook media outlet like NBC running this story every night? They hate the President. Why is Olby not running this story? He doesn't need silly things like evidence.
