"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith Olbermann
Topics/Guests:
Keith bellowed an opening spiel that could have been lifted verbatim from the blue blogs: Rove is behind firing prosecutors "for political reasons", Halliburton [Ding!] moving to Dubai, Newt Gingrich is "nuts", mugging caught on tape, and more riding the coattails of American Idol. All of this, plus another attack on Bill O'Reilly that brings us, yes, Another Olbermann Lie. The Hour of Spin is back.
Liberal Olbermann kicked things off with another reference to firing prosecutors "for political reasons". Oh, and Karl Rove too. All of this as if federal prosecutors did not serve at the pleasure of the President. All of this as if firing eight prosecutors is about, well, let's see, one-tenth the number that Bill Clinton fired. Quotes from three Senators against Atty General Gonzales. Quotes from zero Senators with the opposing viewpoint. Clip of Schumer (D) against the AG. Zero clips on the other side.
Radical Krugman was there to analyze what Oralmann called "the swamp that is the Bush administration". Olby smeared all the remaining prosecutors as "willing to do administration's dirty work". Hey, doesn't that include the sainted Patrick Fitzgerald? When Monkeymann smears, he does it with a broad brush. His scripted questions had all the edge of a damp washcloth. Limp, you might say. Many thanks.
Next, another episode of Olby and the Perfessor. This is the same legal scholar who railed on and on about the obvious unconstitutionality of the Military Commissions Act. The Perfessor of course can spout anything on The Hour of Spin, because he knows the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermahn will never report when he is proven wrong. Neither KO nor his sock puppet made any mention of Clinton's firing of all the federal prosecutors in order to replace them with political appointees. We can't have people knowing that's how these slots are filled. No point in spoiling the spin. Great thanks.
Breaking News! Stop the presses! Peter Pace thinks homosexual acts in the military are immoral.
#4: The "escalation" [Ding!] number is now a "corrected escalation" [Ding!] number. Only this segment is really about Halliburton [Ding!]. They're moving to Dubai. KO laughingly claimed he would turn to a "conservative voice", and it turned out to be Giraldi: populist, Iraq War opponent, and longtime isolationist. See? Herr Olbermann has pseudo-"conservatives" on...as long as they take liberal positions that agree with him. Multiple [Dings!] for repeated Halliburton references. Great thanks.
#3: Presidential politics with Dana Milbank, sans splashy suits. Hagel announced that he doesn't have anything to announce. Fred Thompson might announce but not now. Boring discussion of overly-evident "insights", with an attack on Rupert Murdoch tossed in, gratis. Thanks. An attack on Dick Morris followed.
#2: Violent crime is up because the Bush administration cut funding to local police. (Post hoc ergo propter hoc.) Mugger caught on tape (regurgitated reportage from the network mothership). Plus Larry King, James Brown, and Cruise News! Oh wow! For Fat Ass Olbermann this must be the Best. Day. Ever. #1: More trading on a successful program (American Idol) in the hopes of attracting something more than a miniscule percentage of its audience.
In the Media Matters Minute, "Man on Fan" Olbermann scoured his favorite Soros site and once again managed to avoid naming anyone even slightly on the left as "worst person". Tonight it was Glenn Beck (Blue Blog Source: Media Matters) for embracing "radical extremism", and--of all people!--Bill O'Reilly (Blue Blog Source: Media Matters). KO claimed Mr Bill:
described sympathy and compassion for the dead, kids burned alive, as a "new tactic by the pro-amnesty open border crowd, using children to demand sanctuary for illegal aliens".Then Rev Olbermahn melodramatically turned off the background music and intoned that Bill O'Reilly has "left the human race".
What a fitting way to start the week: with Another Olbermann Lie. The quote KO read was not about the fire, but about the issue of detaining illegals when children are involved. That's the "tactic" he was talking about at the very beginning of this commentary. That reference to a "tactic" was all about this detention issue, and had nothing to do with the fire or "compassion for the dead". Here is what Mr Bill said about compassion as regards the fire:
It is people like you, [viewer], who promote that kind of chaos in the name of compassion, who look the other way while poor workers and children are exploited by greedy landlords and businesses because you don't like the immigration laws.
O'Reilly's own words weren't juicy enough for Monkeymann so he took a comment about a "tactic" addressing something else and falsely claimed Bill was talking about the fire. Plus, Herr Olbermann invented the part about "compassion for the dead"--all this just so he could smear Mr Bill yet again. Is Olby one of those people who becomes so obsessed with a personality that he ends up stalking him? Oh wait, that's already happened!
Dogs that did not bark: Al Sharpton unloads on Obama. Ted Koppel speaks out on Iraq. (Not to mention Brian Williams). Charges that apologists for terrorism will be permitted to use Congressional facilities. Protesters greet Nancy Pelosi.
Olbermann's book The book that bears Olberman's name has sunk to #8,903 at amazon.com, while "Culture Warrior" is #342. (It's that 2-for-$25 sale!) The OlbyTome is #2,639 at Barnes & Noble; O'Reilly's book is #731 there. Tonight's MisterMeter reading: 3 [GUARDED]
"Garibaldi" told Olby that Soros snapped up nearly 2 million Halliburton shares because it is a good investment. I wonder if Olby picked up the phone and called his broker during the break. Maybe he logged onto E-Trade.
The difference is that Soros will use his money for good causes not to pad his already stuffed pockets.. Hopefully George can hire someone to take care of our little dumbya problem.
Did anyone notice that Keith asked the former CIA officer he was interviewing why "liberal lynch pin George Soros would have bought stock in Haliburton"?
I'd like to have an HONEST answer to that question myself.
Why do I have this feeling you KO bashers didn't think he would mention this.
Hmmm.. I must have missed O'Reilly's story about the thieves ( Halliburton ) leaving the country.. Here is to hoping that the " terrorists " find out where Halliburton is going to set up shop. Hey Dubai.. want to do the world a favor.. paint a target on top of the building where the head honchos would be.
Here is your answer..
The difference is that Soros will use his money for good causes not to pad his already stuffed pockets.. Hopefully George can hire someone to take care of our little dumbya problem.
Oh, I thought he would mention it; I'm waiting for the Olbyspin angle. If Olby got an answer he didn't want to hear, he'll just pose the question to someone in his echo chamber so he can get the answer that he wants.
The Olbsession continues...
Bill O'lielly should be hung,, Damn ,, come on... you took care of Alan Berg... come out of retirement do humanity a favor..
Yeah, O'Lielly. Soros will re-invest his stock profits back into Halliburton.
The smartest man in America is on Larry King tonight...
O'Lielly, you mean Olby isn't the smartest man in America? He'll be so insulted if he thinks Bill Maher is your favorite.
The smartest man in America is on Larry King tonight...
Posted by: Bill O'lielly at March 12, 2007 8:54 PM
Mark Steyn is on Larry King tonight?
I'd trade Olbermann's show for a nightly Bill Maher show anyday.
O'Lielly: "The difference is that Soros will use his money for good causes not to pad his already stuffed pockets"
LOL! That's a good one (who said lefties aren't funny)... when he's using it for "good" I bet he hums "We are the World"! LOL
Johnny, I'm a long time reader but new poster. Thanks for coming back. You watch so I don't have; it's a sacrifice and does not go unnoticed. I hope it doesn't wear you down.
Bill Maher just said a bad word on LKL. Shame on him.
And he just said it again, referring to the Dems. Maybe it's not such a bad word after all.
Ktt about Johnny: "You watch so I don't have (to)"
How delusional can you get? Trusting what a political hack writes about someone you think is...a political hack!
You people are amazing!
Nah, we're not amazing. Just thorough. Really, anyone can sit there and catch Olbermann's latest lies. It just falls to me to do it.
Actually, we believe thay are 'p*****s too, believe it or not!
Bill Maher is right. Otherwise the Dems would be getting us out of Iraq like we elected them to do
Yeah Johnny but we CAN'T trust you to not spin these so called 'lies', and to keep them in their proper perspective.
For the troops Keith's spewing much smack
But Keith's never been to Iraq?
A newsman he's not
No cajones he's got
Real journalists call him a hack
JD is back in the house and he's pissing off liberals with his truth-telling about Olbermann! Life is good!
John Fumo seems to agree with Bill Maher - Dems are P*****s who are running away from a debate because they are afraid of news organizations who don't parrot their views. How will they face down terrorists if they are afraid of Chris Wallace?
"JD is back in the house and he's pissing off liberals with his truth-telling about Olbermann! Life is good!"
Reminds me of one of those old Soviet Tass "news agency" pronouncements that they used to call "truth". The Soviets loved using that word too, just like Brandon.
It doesn't take much to make Brandon happy.
How sweet it is. Reading the words "the opening spiel" brought joy to so many including Whoville.
J$, you definitely exceed the call to duty above and beyond that which most men could endure.
Grammie
Why does the Left admire Olbermann. He's a non thinking hack.
Bill Maher is a better spokesman for the Left.
Mike,
Olbermann uses Soviet propaganda tactics. He distorts and then ignores a point he makes when proven wrong.
He's a hack, not a newsman!
"J$, you definitely exceed the call to duty above and beyond"
Johnny, your groupies are swooning over you again!
Rodan: Just as I said in an earlier post, I would gladly trade Olbermann's show for a nightly Bill Maher anchored show.
But for the present, all we have is Olbermann!
Why do they prefer Olbermann over Maher? Simple, because Olbermann doesn't bother to present any discussion that conflicts with the Democratic party talking points. That's what they want, 100% spin and Maher seems to be more of a free-thinker who will entertain views from all sides of the political spectrum.
"WHy do they prefer Olbermann over Maher?"
We just told you dummy, WE DON'T! Is Maher on Cable every night? I didn't think so either.
Honestly, if MSNBC wants to make money why don't they rerun previous episodes of their hit shows?
Deal or No Deal has proven it garners more viewers than Countdown - that's why they bumped it to 9 on CNBC.
This whole channel is like some high school where the debating club has been put in charge of renting the athletic facilities. "Sure we could rent the hall to a lawyer's basketball league and make a ton of money but we rather ask parents of 17 year olds to come in and listen to their 8 kids debate Locke's theory on Liberty."
What the f is going on here? I think Mogato in Zoolander said it best, "I feel like I am taking crazy pills!"
If groupies swooning is your thing I suggest you broaden your horizons and meet some bona fide groupies:
Try:
http://keitholbermann.org/ko_forum/viewtopic.php?t=4417
Or perhaps:
http://208.112.39.53/ko_forum/viewtopic.php?t=5409
I am confident that you will consider both sides of the point. As a KO fan you can do no less to get to the truth. I am looking forward to your report on groupies and who qualifies for one.
Grammie
But Mike, you seem to care passionately about Keith. You defend him. You lavish praise on him. You attack anyone who speaks the truth about him. And you don't care about him? Mike, you know, it's not nice to lie. Ask your buddy about lies, he's fluent in telling them. Why he's denying he's got a sister he previously talked about in interviews. I mean, if you can't even trust Olbermann to tell the truth about the most basic of details, I don't know why you trust him so much to tell you the truth about world events. And not only do you believe every lie he dishes out, you seem hellbent in defending him.
doc, that post you just made is one of the most ridiculous and convoluted posts I've ever read on this blog.
doc, that post you just made is one of the most ridiculous and convoluted posts I've ever read on this blog.
I saw the Koppel moment on Meet the Press. It was refreshing to see.
Nice summary of Monkeymann's show.
Olbermann is auditioning to be Hillary's Press spokesman!
Brandon:
That ridiculous post you just made proves you don't ever bother to actually read my posts! Show me where I EVER "lavished praise" on KO?
I've said many times that I "like his show" because he is the ONLY one on regular TV speaking out against this administration with the fury that I passionately believe NEEDS to be spoken by many.
We are in this damned mess in Iraq partially because too many so called 'journalists' and commentators were too much of a wimp to speak out using common sense.
Saying I 'like his show', and I 'like what he is saying' is a FAR cry from "lavishing praise", or "caring passionately about Keith".
As for his damned sister, I could care less about his sister, his mother, his penis size, his "orange glow", or any of this other similar crap that the obsessed idiots keep bringing up on this site.
I don't know. nor do I want to know about KO's personal life. I don't want to know about O'reilly's personal life, Anderson's Cooper's personal life, or any of the rest ... nor would I just believe anything I happened to hear or read about those things...on this blog or anywhere else.
As I said about Bill Maher. Bring him on Cable TV at 8:00 PM and I'll never watch KO again! Put Maher on Fox, and I'll never criticize Fox again.
Get it now Brandon?
It's the MESSAGE stupid!
Alright allow me to explain it this way. MSNBC is a channel designed to make money for its parent company. It obviously has failed to do that for a number of years. Its most recent market plan id to swing left and build enough of an audience base to increase its ad revenues.
Why go through that trouble?
As Tom Rosenstiel, director of the Project for Excellence in Journalism said today on Talk of the Nation. Olbermann is part of the new "Answer Culture." Where news readers dismiss straight reporting and say "I know what you need to know and here it is." Its the future if cable but as I see it, its a limited future.
Basically you are playing the latest trend which is the extreme in market fragmentation. But the generational factor in this equation seals it failure. The 24-54 demographic doesn't rely on some swarmy suit jockey to tell them the news. The find it for themselves and form their own opinions. Essentially MSNBC is banking on political partisan echo chambering to make them money. But what the future in that?
NBC has the top rated news program now. Their entertainment division is pretty solid as well. Why not provide the entertainment content on their MSNBC channel and just forego the "news as entertainment" gambit? Neilsen books show CNBC reruns were killing Countdown.
What's the point of a news channel that no one wants to pay to advertise on? If your stock in trade is entertainment-do that.
Gee Whiz. What the hell is going on with GE's management training program?
Brandon again: "you seem hellbent on defending him".
Because Brandon, you seem 'hellbent on attacking him!
Mike, this has been explained to you time and time again and yet it doesn't seem to sink into that thick skull of yours. Olbermann repeatedly makes swipes at people's personal lives, engaging in personal attacks, etc. And you never have a problem with that. How many angry emails have you sent to Olbermann, how many angry emails have you posted on Olbermann fan sites expressing your unhappiness when Olbermann engages in such tactics? Of course the answer is "none" because in reality, it doesn't bother you when it's about people you don't like, it's only when people here at Owatch return the favor to Olby than you come unhinged.
And you still stubbornly insist on trying to set the agenda for discussion here at Owatch and you get very ill when someone wants to talk about something you have no interest in. Well Mike my dear man, I suggest you SKIP OVER THOSE POSTS. Move on. Don't read them. Never thought of that did you?
Bob Cox allows people from all sides to discuss all sorts of issues here. Some interest me, some don't. You on the other hand, seem to think that this blog's sole purpose is to talk about what you want to talk about when you want to talk about it and you're just not showing any tolerance for any discussion beyond what you want to read. You're not very tolerant for a "liberal" there are you Mike?
I don't know. With all those anger issues, maybe you need to e-mail Olby and see if he'll recommend a good shrink for you.
Why does the Left admire Olbermann. He's a non thinking hack.
Bill Maher is a better spokesman for the Left.
Posted by: Rodan at March 12, 2007 9:51 PM
I don't need a spokesman. And it may suprise some, but not being a neocon does not make you "the left". As far as this site and Bob Cox goes, in spite of me thinkin it is pathetic to even have a site to "spin the spin" so to speak, I agree that it's allows points of view that make for a nice discusion on a good night, and for that I am thankful.
Mike, it doesn't bother you that Olbermann would lie to an interviewer about a basic fact like whether or not he has a sister? You can't see the larger implications that has for whatever else comes out of his mouth either in inteviews or on air? Are you really that dense? He LIES. but just so long as he lies the way you want a "news" anchor to lie, you're not willing to question him or challenge the status quo in any way, shape, or form. And you're calling someone else stupid? I've missed the nightly comedy that Owatch provides for me. Thanks for the laughs tonight.
Brandon:
If you'll go back and read some of my many posts, you will find that I DO have a problem with some of Olbermann's faults, such as too many personal attacks and his obsession with O'Reilly and other commentators. I have written these things on this very blog.
Why don't YOU get it through YOUR thick skull that I can have a problem with some of his mannerisms without loosing track of what he and is show are really about for me?
However, if you're ambivilent or defensive of the war and this presidents many excesses, incompetance and his power grabs, then you're not going to see anything positive about Olbermann, are you. I can understand that.
When I see Olbermann, yes I see some personal faults. However, when I see O'Reilly, KO's polar opposite, I see many MORE personal faults than I see with KO.
And when I see an organization whose SOLE charter is to get a commentator fired who is speaking a truth I think America really needs to hear...is about the only time I see 'red' these days.
I see you are still here, Mke.
Any progress on your research into groupies.
I opened a whole new world to you. Cat fights and mental contortions over who KO will plant his seed in, deep discussions of the implications of whether men (and esp KO) consider women walking wombs, and torturous explanations of his sister or non sister
Pages and pages of it.
THE BURNING ISSUE OF THE DAY. Is KO ready to sire children, with who and why?
Groupies, anyone?
Grammie
KAF spews: "he lies".
KAF, I've already proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that YOU are a liar, so why would I care who YOU call a liar?
But we've had proof just today that Olbermann lies about even the most basic of issues, i.e., having a sibling. And yet you've decided that it's O'reilly who has more personal faults than KO simply because you like Olbermann's "message" more than O"Reilly's? Oh yeah, that makes perfect sense in your alternate universe I suppose but not to those who prefer to live in the reality-based community.
Janet: Did you say something?
Grammie, speak with a passion and a fury against this administration... then Mike will hear ya.
"Grammie, speak with a passion and a fury against this administration... then Mike will hear ya." LOL
For Janet, that would be like attacking her own mother.
You haven't proven I'm a liar. What you've proven tonight Mike is that you're seemingly obsessed with me and are apparently keeping track of every single comment I make on this board. And then you accuse others of not having a life?
It's your OPINION that I'm a liar and sorry Mike, your opinion just doesn't count for very much. I mean, come on, the two pathetic pitiful examples you claimed proved I was lying, let's see, one was a JOKE--IRONY--totally over your grasp aparently and the other issue? Well excuse me but I didn't realize that was a "liberal issue". I thought it was economic theory. In fact, I know it's an economic theory that's widely accepted. Except in LiberalLand where Mike is King and gets to declare who is and isn't a liberal. Hint, if you agree 100% with him, you are and if you vary off the official Mike talking points, you aren't.
Thanks for clearing that up for us Mike. And thanks for the classic definition of circular logic you've demonstrated several times for us here tonight.
You wanna know why I don't like Olbermann? Simple. He LIES, and that's a FACT, not an opinion.
KAF: Guess what buddy, you start asking me about MY family, and you might not get the unvarnished truth either. My family is MY business and nobody else's.
That said, I don't believe a word I read on this blog about KO's personal life. I don't care! However, If for some perverted reason, I really want to find out about this man's personal life, I won't come here to get the 'truth', because 'truth' will never be found here.
KAF: "you wanna know why I don't like Olbermann? Simple. He LIES, and thats a FACT, not an opinion."
And that's exactly why I don't like you, because you LIE, and thats a FACT!
JohnE, I've got Mike's coordinates down pat.
He is great at the outgoing.
The incoming is a different story. You won't find Mike in a foxhole. Oh no. Mike will be so far behind the lines that he is a continent away.
Again I say HOW SWEET IT IS!
Grammie
Janet baby: You might have to elaborate on how you arrived at a silly conclusion like that?
After all, Janet, unlike you, I've actually BEEN in a foxhole!
OhMaGod, Johnny...did you hear that?
Tom Forman of CNN just said "Mr. Bush"!!!!! Such disrespect, such arrogance! Can you believe it?
Ktt about Johnny: "You watch so I don't have (to)"
How delusional can you get? Trusting what a political hack writes about someone you think is...a political hack!
You people are amazing!
Posted by: Mike at March 12, 2007 9:30 PM
Mike, you are right for once. We are amazing!!!
Mikey sweety, its high time you dug yourself out of that foxhole way behind the lines.
If you can't respond to words lobbed at you its your failure, not mine.
Still waiting! Groupies!
Grammie
Sorry Janet:
The only groupie I see in the room is you, as evidenced by your 9:49 post literally swooning over Johnny, your favorite local political hack.
Grammie, I'll translate for you...
Dear Mike,
BUSH LIED PEOPLE DIED!! Grammie wants you to read her links on KO groupies. NO BLOOD FOR OIL!!! Then, she wants you to respond about her post regarding KO groupies vis-a-vis OWatch groupies. BUSH IS A RETHUGLICAN NAZI!!!
Thanks man,
JohnE
JohnE:
I didn't need a translation. I'm not interested in her links on 'KO groupies", nor am I particularly interested in what might be being said on those blogs.
This site has changed in a lot of ways since after the election. Nobody seems to actually dispute what Keith is exposing on his show anymore. We know he is right, don't we. Lets talk about him, and discredit the messanger. Don't even watch his show, just talk sh-t. Gonzales, Walter Reed, Cheney, Libby on and on...... So sad to know how many of you will look the other way while your country is being humiliated by people you supported. Why? What's in it for you?
Gee, Johnny BU$HWIPE, tell us how those EVEEEEL LBRULS use a front such as
The "American Conservative" Magazine to spread their hatred of America and President Bush.
Great thanks.
http://www.amconmag.com/index.html#
Once again, the Bush Supporters go for the
"Real Raygun Conservative" remedy of last resort.
That speaks volumes of your pride and confidence (LOL!) on President Bush.
GO Bush Supporters!!
> Nobody seems to actually dispute what Keith is exposing on his show anymore.
Except when he takes quotes from O'Reilly, slices them up, doctors them, and lies about what O'Reilly said. I think I kind of dispute that.
> Nobody seems to actually dispute what Keith is exposing on his show anymore.
Except when he takes quotes from O'Reilly, slices them up, doctors them, and lies about what O'Reilly said. I think I kind of dispute that.
Posted by: johnny dollar at March 13, 2007 12:17 AM
Yes, but really O'reilly matters what? How about Halliburton, the surge, Gonzales?
Codas,
The issue with Olbermann isn't his criticism of Bush. Plenty on the right do that to. It's his personal attacks, taking people's quotes out of context, exxagerations and his far Left agenda ie Open Homosexuality in the military.
His hit piece on Pace is pure Leftwing propaganda. Pace belives along with a majority of people that homosexuality is immoral. That's his opinion.
Olbermann also has expressed sympathy for the Iranian regime.
Olbermann's attacks on Gonzales are racists, as Olbermann is a known ati-Hispanic bigot.
He also doesn't mention Hillary's fake southern accent at Selma.
That's some of the gripes with Olbermann.
He also denies he's a Leftist!
O'Reilly matters because Keith is obsessed with him. And if Olby will smear a competitor based on doctored, phony quotes, he has no credibility.
Codas,
The attacks on Gonzales are racist. If he was black or Gay, Olbermann wouldn't attack him. Olbermann has mocked Hispanics on his show on numerous occasions.
>>Yes, but really O'reilly matters what?
Of course the Outraged Sanctimonious Billdo MATTERS!!
El Billdo is watching out for ya!
El BILLDO will tell you how many WMDs are coming to get ya!
El BILLDO will tell you how El BILLDO would run Iraq!
El BILLDO will tell you WHEN you have to pay attention to the conviction of Scooter Libby!
El BILLDO will tell you WHEN and IF torture is good for ya!
And El BILLDO will keep watching over the enemas, ehr, enemies of us pious americans!
DAMN YOU PARTISAN SECULARISTS!!
DAMN YOU NBC!
DAMN YOU G.E.!
DAMN YOU GEORGE SOROS!!
(El BILLDO is foaming at the trap!)
Codas,
Bill Maher whom I don't agree with on many issues, I respect. Chris Matthews I respect. Olbermann I don't respect.
He's a hack!
your points that Keith is a hypocrite might be correct. He iis also an egomaniac no doubt. You do feel the same way about Hannity and Coulter I am sure? A big difference is that Keiths standing against this administration has value to people like myself who are tired of Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh and the like getting all their sick points across on a daily basis.
Codas:
I'm sure you're aware that O'Reilly often runs his entire show without ever mentioning Iraq, Bush, Congress, or anything else of real importance. But golly gee, is he one heck of a "culture warrior".
The night of the Libby verdict, he then spent valuable time making excuses as to why his show had not been covering the trial of the first sitting White House official to be indicted in nearly 40 years.
Talk about the dog that "doesn't bark"!
Yet this is the kind of drivel Johnny keeps suggesting for his minions as an alternative to KO at 8:00 PM.
Codas,
So you just like Olbermann because he bashes Bush. That's it! So you ignore Olbermann's lies, distortions,Far Left views and racism?
Like I said Bill Maher is a great spokesperson for the Left.
Not Olbermann!
He's a hack!
mike is still here and he still wants to take away Mr Dollar's right to say it as he see's it. Facsists For Keith!!
Dr. Fill,
Mike is just expressing his opinion. He's a good commentator and love seeing his posts. Even if I don't agree with them. He has thanked Robert Cox and Johnny Dollar for this site.
Mike,
I disagree with you but keep posting.
Mr Fill:
Where and how does my taking exception with Johnny's 'points' get twisted into I "want to take away Mr. Dollar's right to say it as he see's it"?
Codas,
So you just like Olbermann because he bashes Bush. That's it!
Posted by: Rodan at March 13, 2007 12:37 AM
NO! It is Bush's policies that deserve bashing. It what he has done to out military. You think we are stronger now? You think I don't like Bush because I don't like Bush. Like they hate us cause our freedoms. It is not Bush. It is what Bush is, does, wants to do, has done, will do if permitted.
>>I "want to take away Mr. Dollar's right to say it as he see's it"?
Because El BILLDO has taught us that the EVEEEEL LBURLS really, deep in their hearts, hate God, the Flag and American Pie.
DAMN YOU EXTREME FAR-LEFT SECULARISTS!!
Codas,
Is your life going badly, what's your obseesion with Bush.
Hnestly, I don't give a rats ass about Bush.
He's stupid so he doesn't worry me.
Hillary worries me.
She's totalitarian and wants to transform society. Also she has the press at her side and they'll spew her propganda down the American people's throat.
Hillary is who you should worry about.
She'll be a dictator with the support of the media who'll fool Leftists like you in supporting her agenda for the Common good!
Common good=Communism.
Hillary=Stalin!
> Where and how does my taking exception with Johnny's 'points' get twisted into I "want to take away Mr. Dollar's right to say it as he see's it"?
Well, I'd like to know where and how my taking exception with Olbermann's points gets twisted into I "want to silence him" or I'm "against free speech". I don't think you want to deny me the right to mock Olbermann, but by the same token, because I mock Olbermann, that doesn't mean I'm trying to silence him.
JohnE, Mikey can't be bothered with anything that might dissuade him from his appointed course.
He has reached the point where a bit of tongue in cheek exaggeration from an old, older lady demands a vicious response. And naturally Mikey marches in lockstep with his hero KO, never explore anything else that might upset your carefully balanced apple cart. Gee, does that make Mikey a GROUPIE?
Well, J$, I am not like any other groupie in the world but according to Mikey I'm all yours!
The mind that can conjure that up has spent too much time in the sewer.
Grammie
Grammie,
Why can't the the Olberloons see that Olbermann is a Clinton hack!
He supports Hillary!
Actually Janet, you have it backwards: KO is the one marching in lockstep with me. He calls me about every day to get advice on what to cover. He just won't listen to my advice on laying off O'Reilly though...but I'm working on him.
SO KEWWWWWL!!
>>>Why can't the the Olberloons see that Olbermann is a Clinton hack!
He supports Hillary!
We are getting to the root of the phobia: Bill Clinton.
BOO! BOO! CLINTON IS COMING TO GET YA!!
BOO!
Posted by: Rodan at March 13, 2007 12:48 AM
I'm sorry, but we must be living in another world. Everything you said about Hillary is small potatoes next to what Bush HAS done. You ask me what my obsesion with Bush is while you post on a antiolbermann site? Bush got us in a unwinnable situation and you know it. Like many others, it is only YOUR obsesion with not being a liberal that keeps you blind to what the people you elected are doing to your country.
Janet: Now you're trying to shame me for going after "an old, older lady". Hey, no fair!
Listen Janet, when I read your posts, I don't see an "old lady" at all. You're only as old as you say you are, and we are all 'invisible' here. It's all about what we post, and everything is obviously fair game here...so lighten up.
Incidently, one reason I do this is so that when I get together with my friends, I'm not as tempted to bring up politics, so part of my motivation is selfish.
Bill Maher explained Ann Coulter's 'joke' about Edwards tonight. It seems that in Rightwingspeak, calling Edwards a 'faggot' is actually code for the "Democrats are pussies".
Oh yeah, I get it now! LOL!
Johnny "olby jr" Dollar has about as much grasp of the truth as Olbermann. In fact I think he has learned a lot from his master Olbermann on how to spin, ignore, and mislead his faithful. Good job Johnny. I'm sure Keith is proud of you. You even took your Keith emulation to a new level when you decided to be a quitter since you were frustrated. That shows a lot about you and Robert Cox's character. Remember folks that that these people quit on you for such egotisical reasons as they actually thought they were contributing to Olbermann's success. With a sense of self importance like that who needs the truth.
"Bush got us in a unwinnable situation and you know it. "
He doesn't take the gloves and level Iraq back to the stone age and kill as many as them as possible.
That's why I don't like Bush.
Hillary on the other hand with the Help of the media belives in communism.
Her goal is to make Americans dependent on the state and not allow dissent. Notice when she's criticize she screams and the media comes to her defence.
Again Codas you have an obsseesion with Bush. March madness is happening in a couple of days. Get a hobby watch sports!
Rodan sounds a lot like Red Wolf.
Nawwwwh, Dave!
You got it all wrong!
>>>Remember folks that that these people quit on you for such egotisical reasons as they actually thought they were contributing to Olbermann's success. With a sense of self importance like that who needs the truth.
The real reason for these two "journalists" to return online was my post where I persuaded them to keep open this sewer of BUSHWIPERY.
I mean, where else are you going to find keen conservative minds focused on K.O. penis size?
- Mark Levin's show?
ooooops....
"Rodan sounds a lot like Red Wolf."
Oh oh everyone. It's Red Wolf time!
The crazy loon will accuse me and 5 others of being Red Wolf!
No not 5 others, just you.
Really,
How come you've accused almost everyone of being Red Wolf?
Everytime I come here you accuse different people of being Red Wolf?
What's your obssesion with him?
He' doesn't post here anymore.
He's long gone. Be original!
"he doesn't post here anymore"
Why? Doesn't he like us anymore?
"Why? Doesn't he like us anymore?"
I couldn't answer. I haven't seen his posts in months. However Ive seen 5 to 10 people accused of being Red Wolf. What's the big deal on him?
He's nuts!
Rodan,
I'm Red Wolf!
"he's nuts"
Maybe he was just misunderstood. Maybe he was crying out in the wilderness, and nobody listened, and now it's too late!
I don't post here because the Righties here are pussy that let the Jihad supporting Lefties attack me.
This site is for fakecons and Muslims lovers!
f--- Islam kill tham all!
You hear that righties? You guys are the pussies, not the lefties!
Screw you Redwolf. Get out of here no one supports your madness here!
"You hear that righties? You guys are the pussies, not the lefties!"
The left is worst! You guys support Jihadis. Your all a bunch of traitors, vile filth that should be executed by death squads!
Hillary on the other hand with the Help of the media belives in communism.
Posted by: Rodan at March 13, 2007 1:10 AM
Pure and abso;ute bullsh-t. The media, out of fear gave Bush a pass for years. Now parts of the truth are there for us to see. Your slandering any liberal with "communist" is pathetic. People who still support Bush are pathetic.
Codas,
I don't support Bush. I'm just not obssed with him. Alot of the power consolidation he's done for the Executive Branch he will not use.
Hillary will for the Common good. The media will support here as will you!
"Your all a bunch of vile filth thaqt should be executed by death squads!"
Hark! I hear the sounds of death squads at work right now in ths distance. That rat tat tat sound means another leftee traitor has been eliminated.
Olbermann is a hack!
He needs Cialis to perform in the sack!
Roger, if you can just prove that Olbermann needs Cialis to perform in the sack, then you will indeed have proven that he is a hack.
I mean, what more proff would anyone need?
Codas,
I don't support Bush. I'm just not obssed with him.
Posted by: Rodan at March 13, 2007 1:44 AM
But you are obsessed with Olbermann? Bush is the leader of the free world and represents our values to the rest of the world. So you are not obsessed with him. What does that mean? Do you approve of his war? Do you feel safer because of him? You are more worried about America becoming communist under Hillary. Come on.
Of course Keith calls Mike to get his talking points. Mike as we know is the King of Liberals, he decides what is a liberal position and what isn't. Mike is of course ignoring the FACT that the writer of the latest article on Olbermann has confirmed that he LIED, straight to her face. So it's a FACT that Olbermann LIES. Now I know the talking point amongst the Keith Krazies/Groupies/Cult members is that the writer made a mistake. But Shister insists that's what he told her and given her reputaton compared to his? I'll take her word on this. He LIED. and that's a Fact.
I am troubled.
I believe this site promotes Olbermann more than it hurts him. In fact, Olbermann enjoys bothering normal people just as much as JD and RC enjoy bothering Olbyloons. So isn't this site giving the sadomasochistic and ratings hungry Olby just what he wants?
On the other hand, the pain this site causes Olbyloons is substantial and hence invaluable.
Well, if Johnny Dollar doesn't mind subjecting himself to four more years of the worst television in history, more power to him.
LONG LIVE OLBYWATCH!
Brandon: Yeah I gotta admit I told Keith to lie about his family, because that's just nobody's business but his own.
The fact that you 'loons' have been stuck on this REALLY stupid little question of whether or not he has a sister or not... and THAT was taken NOT from his show, but two supposed conflicting interviews somehere else is yet another indication that you people have NOTHING, and this site is nothing but a misfiring personal smear machine.
I really do believe you people have an obsessive compulsive mental disorder. It's beginning to be rather funny again.

Olbermann is a hack!
He needs Cialis to perform in the sack!
Posted by: Roger at March 13, 2007 1:49 AM
Roger, what you and Keith do on your own time is none of our business, so please don't post such things here!
Not half as funny as your posts are Mike. Or the stubborn insistence, despite the author's confirmation that he did lie to her, the fact that Olbermann lies about even the most basic of details. Why shoul we believe anything else he says?
Well, J$, I am not like any other groupie in the world but according to Mikey I'm all yours!

Posted by: Janet Hawkins at March 13, 2007 12:50 AM
Glad your sewer is big enough for two, Grammie...
This KfK character has just admitted that he revels in his silly belief that this site causes 'pain' to people who dare to like a show he doesn't.
So we now find out that it's not so much about bothering KO himself... but more about trying to irritate his watchers? This sounds like some strange manifestation of sadism to me.
I understand Kfk...how DARE they go and air a show YOU don't like! I'll bet they didn't even check with YOU before renewing Keith's contract. The nerve!
Actually KfK, this site causes more amusement to KO's watchers than anything else.... mostly at the thought that you people would devote gobs of your time and energy for no other purpose than to try smear a commentator you don't even have to watch or think about.
Brandon: "why shoul we believe anything else he says?"
And just who said you "shoul believe anything else is says?".
Maybe, just maybe...you 'shoul' get a life and stop worrying about what someone ELSE believes, or wants to watch?
Not staying for long peeps. Just swinging by to remind Bob and... dang I forgot the other poster. Anyway, who ever was fighting me on global warming, they soon will be owing me a drink. http://newsbusters.org/node/11377 (NYTimes link in that article, totally awesome) I am sorry to say that it seems John Derbyshire was right, humanity will always be around - like the cockroach. Till next time.
J$ & RC-
I know you see Olbermann as a 'Threat' but he's only a threat if those who disagree with him have an open mind.
Fortunately for you, most Conservicons have decidedly closed minds, so no worries, your way of life is safe.
"On the other hand, the pain this site causes Olbyloons is substantial and hence invaluable."
Oh no KFK. This site is quite a treat and I'm glad it's back. First off, I never would have even heard of the great Olbermann without it. Secondly it's a great right wing site, where the left can come and say I told you so about every single issue we have ended up being right about.
"Well, if Johnny Dollar doesn't mind subjecting himself to four more years of the worst television in history, more power to him."
Johnny is watching the 1/2 news hour? I'm sorry to hear that. If he is looking for laughs I would suggest Sean Hannity's weekly show. Now that's comedy!
Poor Mike, he can't argue with my facts, he can't argue with me period so he decides instead to make an issue of a key on my keyboard that isn't striking correctly. If that's all you have Mike, it's obvious you have NOTHING. Just like your hero Olby, who lies even about the most basic of facts.
I guess Brandon has decided not to take my advice about getting a life and forgetting about trying to control things he doesn't like, and doesn't even watch, but I expected that.
SInce I've already taken on and pummeled every one of you're silly 'facts'...and repetition is really is annoying for most of readers, I won't waste my time again. Repetition doesn't seem to bother you though...you just keep coming back over and over again with the same silly stuff again and again.
You people have both NOTHING of importance on KO, nor do you apparently have a life.
When KO gets caught with something like Oxicontin, or maybe pays off a sexual harassment suit (do those things ring a bell with anybody here?), then I'll probably rethink my position on this guy. But as long as all you have is ultra silly stuff like whether or not has has a sister, you people will continue to look pretty damned stupid to everybody who has a properly functioning brain.
Brandon, that is an olbyloon go to, when they get caught trying to debate an issue of which they no nothing about and they are called on it, they go after any spelling errors. That would be known as "blame, scapegoat and divert" tactics.
average american patriot's new name is average american "pat". He is anything but a patriot, he defends the enemy.
Shame Chalenger! You just compared humanity to the 'cockroach'...and you call yourself a compassionate conservative, or was it just conservative...I forget?
"he defends the enemy"
No Jeff, I didn't see anything in his posts defending you.
Bill Maher explained his 'friend' Ann Coulter's sick 'joke' about John Edwards last night. It seems that in ultrarightwingthink, calling Edwards a 'faggot' was really code for calling democrats 'pussies'.

Brandon's blaming his keyboard for a typo, now that's funny!
That's an interesting list on fox news TNR4BU, I wonder what the CNN and MSNBC break downs are. Mind posting them for us?
Damn Keyboard! Why does it always type stupid stuff, and then attribute it to me? I gotta fork out the $10 and get a new keyboard. One that will submisively bow to my commands.
In the meantime, please please please Mr. Keyboard, when I want to type a "d" could you just do it please so people here can stop teasing me?

Those other stories are more intersting. Sorry, but Bush isn't focal point of everyone's life.
Only Loons are obssesed with Bush. Most people don't care about him and go on with their lives, whethere they approve of him or not.
I know people that voted against and don't support Bush and they tell me that you Bush obssesed loons are annoying. They agree with your criticism but not you focus.
They have other things going on in their lives.

"Those other stories are more intersting"
...Right, exactly my point. To a pervert they are more interesting.
Bush isn't the focal point of everyone's life? Is that why you mention him four times in a response to a post that has nothing to do with Bush?
AS is often the case, the headlines are more captivating than the stories.
My favorite is the human feces undercover investigation that appears on the local news every sweeps week. According to the local CBS affiliate it is on everything you touch and eat but that's not all.
My dream was always to write the headlines for Weekly World News. Damn those things are catchy.
Most Popular News Stories on CNN right now:
1. Patti Smith cries at Rock Hall
2. Staff: Top general won't apologize
3. Struggling 'Law & Order' faces uncertain future
4. Congress has e-mails on attorneys
5. Chris Rock tries new direction
6. 'Rocky' star Stallone charged
7. Slim's success angers some
8. Friends 'shocked' by Jeni's death
9. 10 birth control myths busted
10. Boys 7, 10, 11 face arson charges

(that name does make me laugh btw, I need to get it on a t-shirt) Can you get us the breakdowns of the other two major news channel websites? I think a compare/contrast with Fox would be very informative. Thanks
I have to agree - There's No Rehab For Being You would make a killer tee.
Maybe we could get a pic of KO pointing in his stern authoritative fashion right at the reader.
I don't see where MSNBC ranks the most popular, but here are there top US News Stories:
• Pace won't apologize for 'gay' remarks
• WP: Firings had genesis in White House
• Gonzales cancels trip amid furor over firings
• WP: Immigrants anonymous in death
• Ariz. serial killings suspect strikes deal
Damn, Nothing as Tittilating as Fox NewsPorn!
There, I did all the heavy lifting to prove my point, let all the Fox Apologists come out of the woodwork (if they can break away from the NewsPorn cycle long enough) and defend their News Stories of Choice.
I have to agree - There's No Rehab For Being You would make a killer tee.
Maybe we could get a pic of KO pointing in his stern authoritative fashion right at the reader.
Thanks TNR4BU, but you also need to post what are the pool of total choices like you did on Fox for the statistics to be compared apples to apples. I count at least 16 in your original post.
Of course, also out of those 10, I don't see any headlines that are remotely similar to the 4 more popular ones from fox news. Thus we may have a problem with the data to begin with as any potential control groups (CNN and MSNBC) do not have a similar pool of choices. Are there ANY 'sorid' headlines on CNN at the moment?

Done... Awaiting canned response about human nature and how we all like a good train wreck to not turn away from.
I'll have to append my above comment since TNR4BU posted a bit more data since i wrote it but the same point still applies. We need to know what was the total selection you pulled the data of the "most viewed" from. In short, I can 'defend' fox fans as NOT being porn fans simply by pointing out that there's no reason to believe that since the other websites have no 'Newsporn' (I do like that term) to choose from in the first place.
I took all the top US News Stories available at the time I visited each site.
If you take issue with the quantity of stories on each site, I'm sure you're smart enough to break it down proportionately.
...And as far as apples to apples...if you don't compare an apple to an orange every once in a while, how do you know which fruit you prefer?
There's No Rehab For Being You,
I mentioned Bush becuase I already know your line of attack,
Fox sucks and Bush sucks.
Get a life!
Oh looky everybody! ANOTHER Republican political scandal:
Atty General Gonzalas has accepted the resignation of top aide Kyle Sampson over the prosecutor firings scandal.
I think this was yet ANOTHER one of those things that the Bush Apologists kept saying there was "nothing to it", and it turned out there is. This administration's record is 0 for how many now?
Trouble is, the wrong people keep getting sacrificed as scapegoats for the real culprits.
"Awaiting canned response..."
Well I won't give the canned response about human nature, but I will also point out the canned response that your data does not yet support the conclusion that "all fox news watchers are perverts". We might be able to make the conclusion that most perverts prefer to watch fox news but that doesn't exactly allow for a broad brush generalization of all fox viewers.
"In short, I can 'defend' fox fans as NOT being porn fans simply by pointing out that there's no reason to believe that since the other websites have no 'Newsporn' (I do like that term) to choose from in the first place."
You actually make my point for me. If there was no NewsPorn, there really couldn't be NewsPorn Addicts now, could there? Glad to see Fox is doing there part in propagating the phenomenon.
There's No Rehab For Being You! ,
Why do Leftists loons like you bith and complain about everything? Why can't you discuss how's going to win March Madness. That's what most people talk and care about!

Rodan? I thought you were King Guido?
You 'already know my line of attack' huh? You can't even keep the names you post under straight. You'd better sit down before you hurt yourself.
"You actually make my point for me."
Not really, your point was about the entirity of the fans of Fox News. I could perhaps make a similar case about all the fans of CNN being communists. That doesn't mean either statement is true. All you've really done is first complied enough data to make a statement about the quality of Fox News to begin with (and even I'll agree they tend to be sensationalist, all tv newsies usually are - hence why I don't bother much with cable). I still see no basis for you making a generalization about Fox News fans. There is also the matter that those who hit the website may not neccessarily be the exact same people who watch the channel (though there would be some overlap). So we also have an issue with a potential division among the fans.
In summary, your hypothesis is full of holes.
mike,
How does the attorney general firings effect you?
It doesn't effect me and most people don't care about it. It's a media produced scandal. The guy was fired so the media shuts up.
Hey was there any money stolen?
If not who cares, it has nothing to do with me.
On a real important note, who's going to win March Madness?
Rodan:
I'm pretty sure Johnny and Robert will be quite pleased if this thread erupts into a long discussion about who's going to win the basketball tournament.
I for one pick North Carolina, but this year is going to be an especially tough pick and Florida is playing awfully well again, just at the right time.
That said, Bush sucks!

Wow, Rodan, if you're not Red Wolf, you must be his retarded little brother. I seem to recall Red Wolf wanting to change the political debate to sports during Football season when his ass was being handed to him on this site.
There's No Rehab For Being You!,
Who do you think will win March Madness?
You have to understand Mike's mindset. If he says something is so, we're supposed to accept it as FACT, when it's clearly just his (misguided) OPINION.
What's wrong with porn? Excerpted from 60 Minutes:
It is estimated that Americans now spend somewhere around $10 billion a year on adult entertainment, which is as much as they spend attending professional sporting events, buying music or going out to the movies.
Consumer demand is so strong that it has seduced some of America's biggest brand names, and companies like General Motors, Marriott and Time Warner are now making millions selling erotica to America.
There are well over 800 million rentals of adult videotapes and DVDs in video stores across the country. “And I don't think that it's 800 guys renting a million tapes each,” he says.
The porn world now has all the trappings of a legitimate industry with considerable economic clout. Besides its own convention and trade publication, it holds marketing and legal seminars. It even has its own lobbyist.
“It employs in excess of 12,000 people in California. And in California alone, we pay over $36 million in taxes every year. So it's a very sizeable industry,” says Bill Lyon, a former lobbyist for the defense industry.
ugh, this is why I left for so long, this place too easily degenerates into "you're wrong/no YOU'RE wrong - you're a doodoo head/well your mom!" sort of discussion. Work's actually more interesting.

What's your Redwolf obssesion?
Explain, he was on here last night and I had an exchange with him.
How's my ass being handed to me?
I'm just pointing how Radical Leftists have no life and everything is Bush sucks, Fox sucks.
My bring up March Madness isn't to change the subjest, just pointing out to you losers what people in the real world discuss.
No one cares about the Attorney General story!
It doesn't effect anyone's life.
It's a media story and Bush is afraid of the media.
If it was Rudy he's tell the media to shut up or sick the IRS or FBI on them.
I would kind of like to be on the National championship team this year. That way, I could snub Bush during the official team visit, or at least go in there wearing sneakers, jeans and a tee shirt. On the other hand, I don't really want to snub the White House, just it's incompetent occupant, so I guess I'd just stay away.
Doc, I don't exactly think that just because something might be an "industry" and have economic clout doesn't make it right. Else there would be nothing wrong with slavery (i mean, wasn't that 'industry' worth a LOT of money and involving a LOT of people?).
Challenger Grim,
You notice that everyone here gets accused of being Red Wolf? It's getting silly.
Grim-
You agree with me that Fox News sensationalizes. Okay, great, common ground.
You go on to say most news does that. Yes, but to vastly different degrees, as my on-the-fly reasearch has shown.
I am taking Fox News Channel and the Fox News Website as a whole, since they are owned and operated by the same folks, okay?
Now, I made my statement given that, out of all the choices of headlines Fox put on their site, their viewers (whether casual or dedicated, makes no difference) made the stories about sex and deviance their "Most Popular."
It is true, as a purely scientific experiment, to compare visitors to all the websites, the viewers would need to be offered all the choices...But that's where Fox NewsPorn differentiates itself from the field. Fox had those stories available, the others didn't.
There is more than a casual relationship between what a news outlet reports and what their viewers want to consume. If you are familiar with the TV and Internet and various other forms of Media (and the advertising that pays for it to be consumed) there is a strong desire to give the people what they want. It's business, and Fox News is in the Newsporn business.
Your Thoughts?
Challenger:
I've personally been called everything else, but I don't recall being called a "doodoo head" just yet.
Mike,
You're a very intelligent poster, I disagree with some of your points but unlike others on the Left you don't name call and look foward to you posting.
But what's your Bush obssesion?
I wouldn't snub him, I would chat with him to the side and tell him what I disagree with him on.
Come on MIke your better than that.

You are accusing a church going housewife who may have purchased a vibrator or edible undies for her and her husband of being a plantation owner?
Erotica has been a part of mankind since the earliest days. There are cave paintings of such.
Porn is porn. People love it. It exists not through the some right wing conspiracy or some godless leftist influence. Even KO competed and won a Playgirl poll.
Please. Its not slavery and resulting to cheap hysterics is no way to make a point. In fact, enlightened people should rise about such tactics.
There's No Rehab For Being You! ,
Drugs and Prostitution should be legal. That way the Government can regulate and tax it. Plus it removes the criminal elemt from those industries.
What's wrong with porn anyway?
Rodan:
I don't believe the President is going to be asking the basketball players about their political opinions.
Illegal to pay for sex?
I think its called marriage.
Why Do You Care That I Care?
(...And Why Do You Care About The Final Four?)
(...And Why Do You Keep Changind Your Name?)
(...And if you're going to be posting in a public forum, why don't you learn to spell?)
Mike, the sad part is, I think calling everyone a "doodoo head" would actually raise the level of discourse around here no? lol ;-)
TNR4BU,
See what I wrote above how we'd still have to narrow down the field to differeniate the statements: "Most fox website visitors are perverts" vs "Most perverts visit fox's website."
Finally, there is one more consideration to take into account. Compare the Fox stories that didn't make the top list with the other two sites you posted. You'll also notice a lot of overlap. There's a good chance a high number of visitors are perhaps getting their information from multiple sites. Therefore, fox news might not be getting hits on say... the gonzalas story because visitors have already read it on USNews. However the stories Fox is running that the other sites DON'T have, those would be the ones that new junkies would visit. A sort of dilution effect. The only want to determine this factor would be to take the data of those 3 sites over the course of several days and compare. If uniquely Fox news stories are ALWAYS the top hitters, then we have to scrap the hypothesis. If the more sorrid stories are always hot hitters (even if posted on the other sites) then we can adjust the hypothesis accordingly (because we'd also have to see how the sorrid stories ranked on the other 2 sites). However if unique fox stories are ALWAYS sorrid ones, then we'll have to adjust the hypothesis into one where fox is apparently catering to some very sick customers.
Fair Enough.
The Absence of Proof is Not Proof of Absence!
"Please. Its not slavery and resulting to cheap hysterics is no way to make a point. In fact, enlightened people should rise about such tactics."
*sigh* Doc that wasn't my point. My point was a comparison of porn and slavery but of industry and morality. Namely that just because something has MONEY doesn't make it RIGHT. Now if you want to debate whether porn is right/wrong or whatever, that's fine. But as far as posting that 60 minutes excert I was merely pointing out that your snippet doesn't prove or support anything.
As for me personally, I think the culture as a whole is getting 'oversexed' to the exclusion of a lot of other important things. As C.S. Lewis said "There is a place for everything and everything should be in its place." So I'm just in favor of sex getting back to its proper place in line.
Oh and Rodan, I somewhat agree if for no reason than the quickest way to destory something seems to be government regulations (rumors say that's what happened to vampires lol ;-).
There's No Rehab For Being You!,
"And Why Do You Keep Changind Your Name?"
You keep changing your name. Isn't this the pot calling the kettle black? I went by the name Penguin and realized it's dumb since my neighbor posts as the Joker.
I decided on Rodan.
"And Why Do You Care About The Final Four?"
It's interseting and fun. That's what everyone here at my job and the bars I go to discuss. No one cares about Bush. On;ly the Loons. When a stary loon starts Bush bashing everone tells them to shut up and talk about something else.
"Why Do You Care That I Care?"
I don't.
It's just this is Olbermann watch, not Fox and Bush watch.
You're a broken record!
Slavery Illegal?
I think it's called Marriage.
"The Absence of Proof is Not Proof of Absence!"
I'm not sure who that was directed to or in what spirit but that saying will definitely get you laughed out a group of scientists.
Yes, most of us are willing to admit that an absence of proof does not impso facto disprove of something. But that also doesn't mean you get to claim that ____ exists/is factual/is true. The absence of proof merely means that there is we cannot conclude for or against ____. Hence the phrase: "more data needed"
You keep changing your name. Isn't this the pot calling the kettle black? I went by the name Penguin and realized it's dumb since my neighbor posts as the Joker.
I decided on Rodan.

Awww, batman's cool though. If you're posting as Rodan then, will you be offended if I post as Godzilla? =D If you are a kaiju fan though, you'll have to check out http://neomonsterisland.com/ sometime.
Broken Record?
Oh Please, I bring fresh debate.
You bring the same old tired mispelled rant that fellow conservatives don't even want a part of.
Yeah, you're right... Penguin would have been stoopid, since you're obviously a Jackass.
You can change your name all you want, your content is so unvaried, everyone knows its you.
Meanwhile, you don't even have the slightest clue to my political or idealogical leanings. I'll give you a hint, not everyone who disagrees with you necessarily agrees with eachother.
"The Absence of Proof is Not Proof of Absence!"
I'm not sure who that was directed to or in what spirit but that saying will definitely get you laughed out a group of scientists.
Actually that's a quote from a World-Respected Scientist.
I think most scientists would agree that just because you can't prove something doesn't mean it is not true.
Take God for instance...
I think there are more than a handful of laymen who argue that if you can't prove something on a predetermined timeline, it must not be true.
How so very Untrue!
Apparently generic (my term for any poster with a _ name) has hit a broken record. Else he/she missed the part where I said, yes it does not mean it's false, neither does it mean it's true. Let me say again: "The absence of proof merely means that there is we cannot conclude for or against"
Don't sigh.
If you are smarter than other people you would display more humility for intelligent people know one fact - there is always someone smarter in the room.
Forgive me if I misunderstood your point. But you did invite the comparison by introducing the topic.
As for porn. Americans love it and I wish the world was more embracing of thier natural human tendencies. The most repressed people seem to start the most trouble.
Now put on this burka while I figure out this plan for my virgins in heaven. Oh and God Bless you and God Bless the United States of America.
Okay, he's not a Scientist, he's an 18th Century Poet and Evangelist:
William Cowper
"The Absence of Proof is Not Proof of Absence!"

These statements are indeed congruous and not in direct conflict with one another.
Do you often argue with someone you agree with?
There's No Rehab For Being You! ,
What broken record?
I just come on here to discuss the fraud called Olbewrmann. He claims to be a nrewsman, but he's not. He claims he isn't a Leftists but he is. He even lies about having a sister.
"You bring the same old tired mispelled rant that fellow conservatives don't even want a part of. "
I'm not a conservative. If I was, how can I support Abortion, Civil-Unions, Affirmative Action, Universal Healthcare, trade tarrifs, Higher Corporate Taxes, Free College Education, Alternative fuels and Drug legalizaton?
Explain how that's conservative?
"Meanwhile, you don't even have the slightest clue to my political or idealogical leanings. "
You give it away with your Fox news rant!
Penguin was was unoriginal since The Joker already posts here.

Did you see the last Godzilla move Final wars?
He fights everyone in it!
I was merely pointing out that just because you don't find what you are looking for, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
I have found in today's instant-gratification sound-bite society that one will summarily dismiss something unless it can be proven immediately on their terms.
That happens alot on cable news...
"As for porn. Americans love it and I wish the world was more embracing of thier natural human tendencies."
=================================
? Ummm... doc which world have you been on? Europe, large sections of Asia, Japan, a great number of countries are more "embracing... their natural human tendencies" than even America is. Though by your burka comment I'm guessing you assume that the extremist middle east is the entire world. It also appears that you have trouble distinguishing the difference between moderation and teetotalism. Here's a hint, just because I'd like to enjoy some culture without having sex saturating it (music, opera etc) doesn't mean I'm in favor of shia law. You seem to have a pretty bad habit of seeing everything in drastic divisions rather than gradiant scales. I will certainly yield that Mike may be as smart or even more so than me, but I somehow doubt you are doc.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The most repressed people seem to start the most trouble.
================================
So some of those child sex rings in the world and organized crime etc were all started by amish? You're essentially taking one incident (the latest war on terror) and making a generalization that even a cursory examination of a single day's headlines will prove false. Heck, any criminologist will tell you that a common feature among criminals is usually a LACK of self control. You don't generally see high crime rates among "repressed" people.
"Meanwhile, you don't even have the slightest clue to my political or idealogical leanings. "
You give it away with your Fox news rant!
Conservatives can't dislike Fox? Why not? Is it blasphemy? Biting the hand that feeds?
Did you see the last Godzilla move Final wars?

==================================
Yeah, I got it for a friend for christmas and we were watching it. Seeing him nuke GINO was a moment of bliss.
Though I was disappointed that he didn't find EVERYONE in it. There did seem to be a few old mainstays missing. I'm hoping to be able to pick up a godzilla movie collection sometime with Tokyo S.O.S. on it. (btw, here's an AWESOME site for Kaiju fans if you haven't seen it yet http://www.godzillatemple.com/) I did get that SWEET package of the complete original Godzilla movie when it came out though (complete with unedited, subtitled japanese version and butchered american dub). I haven't yet unwrapped it or watched though because it looks SOO freakin' sweet i'm afraid to. (maybe I should buy a 2nd that I can unwrap)
There's No Rehab For Being You! ,
If you read my posts you'll see I'm not a conservative. I'm Moderately Liberatarian.
It's just people on the Right don't go after Fox news since it's the only outlet that Conservatives and Libertarians are allowed to air their views.
Liberals alos air their views on FOX.
My gripe is with the Radical Totalitarian Left that wants to silence differing opinions.
They attack anyone who speaks there opiniom.
It's Stalinism at it's worst.
Challenger Grim ,
Tokyo SOS was very interesting. Godzilla was staright evil in that one and King Ghidorah was good?
Go figure!
Could one you Godzilla guys help me with a movie I am sure I saw but none of the kids' remember.
It was Godzilla against a big bright and shiny metal guy whose arms from the elbow down were triangular and made of overlapping plates, I think. Sometime in the mid seventies.
I've always remembered the movie because I got a migraine and the shiny metal guy would raise his arms and pass them up and down on each other, like sharpening a knife. When he did that the screen would flash lights and sparks and the speakers made million decibel screeching metallic sounds.
Grammie
Godzilla vs. Gigan
Gigan is alos in the lastest Godzilla movie Final Wars.
You don't generally see high crime rates among "repressed" people.
Without a doubt, this statement turns an argument like nothing I have ever read before.
It is either pure genius or a line from Being There.
Thanks, Rodan. I always thought they were pulling my leg.
If I can get rent it I think I'll make them watch it with a hangover. The closest I can get to poetic justice.
Grammie
Rodan, thats him!

Actually, That's Megalon, a buddy of Gigan.
The movie was Godzilla vs. Megalon.
However you should rent them Godzilla Final Wars. They will love it.
Posted by: mike at March 13, 2007 1:52 PM This is a scandal? President Bush relieves 9 judges from their duty and it's a scandal? Was it a scandal when Billy Boy fired every single one when he took office?
Wow, We know Olbermann watch is back! it looks Like Johnny Dollar started his first commentary with a lie, claiming Keith Olbermann lied (How fitting).
Here is what Dollar wrote:
"KO claimed Mr Bill: described sympathy and compassion for the dead, kids burned alive, as a 'new tactic by the pro-amnesty open border crowd, using children to demand sanctuary for illegal aliens.'"
"What a fitting way to start the week: with Another Olbermann Lie. The quote KO read was not about the fire, but about the issue of detaining illegals when children are involved. "
Essentially Johnny is arguing that Keith has taken O'Reilly out of context in a quote which according to Dollar is not about the fire at all.
Here is what Bill actually said:
"O'REILLY: In the 'Unresolved Problem' segment tonight, a new tactic by the pro-amnesty, open-border crowd: using children to demand sanctuary for illegal aliens.
In New York City, eight children were killed last night after a fire broke out in the Bronx. Twenty-two people were living in just two apartments, 17 of them children."
As you can see the quote was clearly refering to the fire.
Why attack Fox News for claiming to be "Fair and Balanced?" Oh, I don't know, How About:
* In the days following the terrorist attack of 9-11, Fox News CEO Roger Ailes sent political advice to President Bush. Ailes did so secretively because he knew that as the head of a major news organization, it would look bad if word got out about his partisan moonlighting.
* A 2003 University of Maryland study found that Fox News viewers were far more likely to be misinformed about whether Saddam Hussein was linked to Al Qaeda terrorists and whether weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq immediately following the invasion.
* A 2004 Center for Media and Public Affairs study found that during the height of the presidential campaign, just 13 percent of Fox News panelist comments about Democratic candidate Sen. John Kerry were positive, compared with 50 percent for Bush. (It was during the campaign that Fox News anchor Brit Hume called the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth's factually challenged book attacking Kerry a "remarkably well-done document.")
* Fox News pundits mocked Al Gore in 2004, following a speech he gave, joking the former vice president "had gone off his lithium again," and compared him to "a mental patient."
* At this year's World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, News Corp. owner Rupert Murdoch admitted that his company (which includes Fox News) had "tried" to shape the agenda for the Iraq war.
* Unaware that her microphone was on between interviews, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice this year announced, "My Fox News guys -- I love every one of them."
* This year, commenting on the troop withdrawal debate in Congress, Hume, Fox's evening news anchor, stated, "This is why the Democratic Party has had this reputation, going back decades, of really not being very serious about national defense. It's because they aren't."

Mike=another defender of the enemy. Just think, right now a terrorist detainee is being water boarded as we speak or maybe they got the batteries charging up.........
Five years after 9/11, you figure our government would have already solved the obvious security concerns, like protecting our chemical plants or keeping razors away from Britney. But we've failed miserably. Why?
Meet Philip Perry. Already, I can tell you don't like him. Because his name's Philip Perry, which sounds like the name of a guy who would screw the common interest on behalf of powerful corporations.
And if you guessed that's what he did for a living, you'd be right.
As documented in this incisive Washington Monthly article by Art Levine, after 9/11 the Environmental Protection Agency looked at chemical plants across the U.S. and concluded that at least 700 sites posed a potential threat to kill or injure over 100,000 people if attacked. In neocon math, that's over thirty 9/11s.
After nearly a year's worth of work led by Christie Todd Whitman and Tom Ridge, twelve senior Bush administration officials met in March of 2003 to finalize legislation granting Whitman's EPA the authority to oversee chemical plant security and require them to submit plans for lowering their risks. But then Philip Perry, at that time the general counsel for the White House Office of Management and Budget, waltzed in, said Congress would never go for it, and the deal was dead. Our chemical plants would have to go back to being protected by the same folks who protected them before: nobody.
It had long been part of the official White House plan for the EPA to oversee the chemical industry, but Christie Whitman said: "They woke up and heard from industry." And as it turns out, Philip Perry wasn't just your garden-variety White House chemical industry hack -- he's married to Elizabeth Cheney, the Cheney daughter who likes boys. The a--hole doesn't fall far from the tree.
Six months after that March 2003 meeting, Perry left the White House to lobby for the Washington law firm that represents the American Chemistry Council, strong-arming the Department of Homeland Security for Lockheed Martin and General Electric. But in 2005 he returned to the administration -- he didn't leave his lobbying job, just moved offices. In his new job as general counsel for the Department of Homeland Security, he gained authority for DHS to oversee chemical plant security simply so he could require nothing from them. Because it's just so inconvenient for chemical plants to have to lock their doors at night. Not only that, but he also finagled things so that DHS has the power to set aside laws from commie states like New Jersey that have attempted to put stricter security requirements for their chemical plants in place.
People ask why we haven't been hit again since 9/11. The answer is luck.

Actually Bill Maher is one of the few Leftists I like. I don't agree with him on everything, but he makes valid points and thinks about his answers and positions.

Well, I consider that a fair argument, but I should point out that anon 4:57 could make the same argument in regards to Fox news. if they would just admit their deliberate bias, there would be no reason to complain about them.
oh and to avoid confusion only anon 5:26 is me. I told no one to get a life.
> As you can see the quote was clearly refering to the fire.
This is what happens when Olbyloons take their "facts" from sites that snip and clip and doctor quotes. O'Reilly opened by talking about a tactic used by immigration activisits. He next gave a summary report on the fire that had just occured. Then he went to his main story: a report out of Boston that immigration activists are complaining about detaining children brought over illegally by their parents. That was what the segment was all about, not the fire that was just given as a news update. But of course the spin doctors stop the quote after the few sentences regarding the fire.
IN FACT, the TRANCRIPT shows that when he got into the story of the Boston detentions and laid out the lawsuits and objections that were being filed, O'Reilly stated "THAT is the tactic". He went OUT OF HIS WAY to specifically state that the tactic he referenced was: objecting to detaining illegals with their children. Not anything to do with the fire. He couldn't have been clearer. Of course, it's only clear when you know the truth, and not the snippets that people like Olbermahn cherry pick.
Now people like JT--who didn't even see the segment in question--take the doctored, snipped quotes that have been edited to mislead the gullible and swallow them whole. Hey JT, here's a suggestion for an exciting new experience. Before you opine on what someone said, try hearing it for yourself first. Someone who swallows editing tricks and propaganda while having ZERO first-hand knowledge of what they're talking about just might be an OlbyLoon.
perhaps you would be so kind as to post a link to the transcript?
Rodan, I had no idea how vast the world of Godzilla was. Gigan's arms are exactly as I remember them. And your nom de plume has new meaning now.
Grim, thanks for the links and info.
I am sure that I have a whole new crop of little boys who will enjoy them. Certainly Godzilla is light years ahead of Bionicals and Power Rangers.
Grammie
Grammie
Why? You didn't post a link when you quoted a transcript. Perhaps because you didn't want people to know where it came from, eh? Well, whatever your source was, it was dishonest, snipping the quote to hide the fact that O'Reilly specifically identified the tactic he was discussing as filing objections to detentions (like those in Boston) because children are involved. Now why do you suppose your dishonest source left all that out? So that the credulous would be fooled, perhaps?
I could post the actual video from the O'Reilly segment, but Olbyloons would find a way to dismiss that as well.
"Well, I consider that a fair argument, but I should point out that anon 4:57 could make the same argument in regards to Fox news. if they would just admit their deliberate bias, there would be no reason to complain about them."
=================================
So we're all in agreement? If ALL news sources would do this we'd stop complaining about that particular thing?
Grammie:
I'm glad to see your world expanding with your newfound knowledge of the 'vast world of Godzilla'.
It's so wonderfull to see when folks focus on the really important things in life.
Dollar,
in past arguments, you have demanded that people post links to verify claims. I think it is fair to expect the same standard in return.
Do you have link to the Factor Transcripts that verify your claim? If what you say is so, I'll happily admit my error.
Grammie, I've dropped a PM at Newsbusters on more Godzilla goodness. check it.
"It's so wonderfull to see when folks focus on the really important things in life."
==================================
I'd certainly say godzilla is a lot more important than a lot of politcs.
Ooooo, i just got a great idea for a "Kaiju Anti-Terrorist Squad" t-shirt. Let's see bin laden hide when his pursuers can cross a country and 10 minutes on foot. =D
> Do you have link to the Factor Transcripts that verify your claim?
Sure. You can purchase the transcript of any program from Lexis/Nexis. I believe just $3 for an a la carte purchase. It was the March 8 broadcast.
Of course I could type that transcript in myself but then in your desperation to defend Olbermann's lie, you might claim that the transcript I provide was somehow faked. Even though there is no example in history where I have ever done that. So if you are curious to know the truth, I have told it to you. If you think I'm a liar, you can prove yourself wrong, but it will cost you $3.00.
Not that it will matter but here is what your dishonest source left out. After talking about the new tactic, and giving the update on the fire, O'Reilly continued:
In Massachussetts, 327 illegals have been detained by federal agents after they raided a factory in New Bedford. 60 illegals have been released because they have children to supervise; the rest are being held in Fort Deven. The Boston Globe and the Associated Press played up the children angle big, saying the raids are wrong because kids are put in jeapardy. The same TACTIC is being used by the ACLU in Texas as we reported last night.
Joining us now in Boston is... and... OK, so THE TACTIC IS--as you saw in the Boston Globe, AP, ACLU--it's about the kids now, not the illegal adults. What say you?
It couldn't have been clearer. O'Reilly's "tactic" had nothing to do with the fire. It was about the detentions in Boston where children were involved. And Olbermann lied when he said otherwise.
"I am sure that I have a whole new crop of little boys who will enjoy them. Certainly Godzilla is light years ahead of Bionicals and Power Rangers."
Grammie- I hope to God you run a daycare or have a whole bunch of grandsons.

Countdown with Keith Olbermann's Off Screen Disturbance Guide for March 13 2007:
Oddball 1: A very small 'heh' when Keith mentioned the guinea pig getting eaten. (P.S.: R.Cox --- I still would like to know if the possum was okay.)
Newsbreaker2: A laugh noticeable from a women when Olbermann said "concubining". What a funny word. More like a bad sense of humor.
Tabs 1: A laughter-y hmmm at one of Keith Olbermann's many many Larry King imitations.
Issue #1: Remarking Keith Olbermann's latest vaca`, a small laugh is heard.
"Not that it will matter but here is what your dishonest source left out. After talking about the new tactic, and giving the update on the fire, O'Reilly continued:"
It will matter for now. I am e-mailing media matters to see if I can get a response. I may also see if I can find the transcripts on Lexis/Nexis.
"Joining us now in Boston is... and... OK, so THE TACTIC IS--as you saw in the Boston Globe, AP, ACLU--it's about the kids now, not the illegal adults. What say you?"
I say (assuming you are right) that media matters either was in error (possible given that Bill went straight to the fire after his quote) or your interpretation of events is correct. I intend to investigate further.
"It was about the detentions in Boston where children were involved. And Olbermann lied when he said otherwise."
I am checking on this. I said if I was wrong I would admit it and I will.

And the 15 minutes it took you to think up that insult?
Say Challenger did you even bother to read the NY times article before crowing?
"Not staying for long peeps. Just swinging by to remind Bob and... dang I forgot the other poster. Anyway, who ever was fighting me on global warming, they soon will be owing me a drink. http://newsbusters.org/node/11377 (NYTimes link in that article, totally ."
if so, might I ask if you missed the following:
"He clearly has supporters among leading scientists, who commend his popularizations and call his science basically sound. In December, he spoke in San Francisco to the American Geophysical Union and got a reception fit for a rock star from thousands of attendees".
or this:
“He has credibility in this community,” said Tim Killeen, the group’s president and director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, a top group studying climate change. “There’s no question he’s read a lot and is able to respond in a very effective way.”
or this:
“We need to be more careful in describing the hurricane story than he is,” Dr. Hansen said of Mr. Gore. “On the other hand,” Dr. Hansen said, “he has the bottom line right: most storms, at least those driven by the latent heat of vaporization, will tend to be stronger, or have the potential to be stronger, in a warmer climate.”
or this:
"Michael Oppenheimer, a professor of geosciences and international affairs at Princeton who advised Mr. Gore on the book and movie, said that reasonable scientists disagreed on the malaria issue and other points that the critics had raised. In general, he said, Mr. Gore had distinguished himself for integrity."
or this:
“On balance, he did quite well — a credible and entertaining job on a difficult subject,” Dr. Oppenheimer said. “For that, he deserves a lot of credit. If you rake him over the coals, you’re going to find people who disagree. But in terms of the big picture, he got it right.”
or this:
"The panel went further than ever before in saying that humans were the main cause of the globe’s warming since 1950, part of Mr. Gore’s message that few scientists dispute. But it also portrayed climate change as a slow-motion process."
Basically you found an article that names a few scientist who disagree with Gore. Big deal. You have not demonstrated consensus in the scientifc community condeming Gore, nor have you come anywhere neqar making a point on Global warming.
Craigs, you seem just as guilty:
Still, Dr. Hansen said, the former vice president’s work may hold “imperfections” and “technical flaws.”
or this
It estimated that the world’s seas in this century would rise a maximum of 23 inches — down from earlier estimates. Mr. Gore, citing no particular time frame, envisions rises of up to 20 feet and depicts parts of New York, Florida and other heavily populated areas as sinking beneath the waves, implying, at least visually, that inundation is imminent.
or
“Climate change is a real and serious problem” that calls for careful analysis and sound policy, Dr. Lomborg said. “The cacophony of screaming,” he added, “does not help.”
or
“Hardly a week goes by,” Dr. Peiser said, “without a new research paper that questions part or even some basics of climate change theory,” including some reports that offer alternatives to human activity for global warming.
or
Biologists, too, have gotten into the act. In January, Paul Reiter, an active skeptic of global warming’s effects and director of the insects and infectious diseases unit of the Pasteur Institute in Paris, faulted Mr. Gore for his portrayal of global warming as spreading malaria.
“For 12 years, my colleagues and I have protested against the unsubstantiated claims,” Dr. Reiter wrote in The International Herald Tribune. “We have done the studies and challenged the alarmists, but they continue to ignore the facts.”
My point was (to those that remember me) is that, yet again, things aren't going to be as bad as we've all been told. Yes I didn't demonstrate consensus in condeming Gore, but I did disprove consensus in supporting him (as he often claims). Now go back to playing with your strawman.
"Craigs, you seem just as guilty:"
Not really, I never acted as though the article was some universal condemnation of Gore as you did.
"My point was (to those that remember me) is that, yet again, things aren't going to be as bad as we've all been told."
Because a reporter found 4 or 5 scientist who say so. Great. I see once you've come down on the side of an idelology all you need is a few on the fringe to support you.
"Yes I didn't demonstrate consensus in condeming Gore, but I did disprove consensus in supporting him (as he often claims). "
No you didn't. You demonstrated that not every single scientist on the planet beleives Gore. in fact you managed to find four or five that don't. Wow. That i no way disproves his claim that world's scientifc community has formed a virtual consensus that global warming is real and probably man made. impact may be debated, but not nearly as much as you seem to beleive.
"Now go back to playing with your strawman."
Now go learn what a strawman is.
JT and Mike
Thanks for proving my point!
FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS!
And that same reporter had only 4 or 5 scientists quoted in detail as wholly supporting Gore. So i guess your point is also equally feeble then?
Oh wait, are we talking plurality? I see plurals of both support and dissent in the article with no raw numbers for either. And 'virtual consensus'? Is that the kind of consensus you get by discounting anyone that might disagree with you? (from the article: “Hardly a week goes by,” Dr. Peiser said, “without a new research paper that questions part or even some basics of climate change theory.”)
Unless of course you expect me to believe that somehow this is all new to humanity in general when greenland hasn't even returned yet to the farmable state it USED to be in long before the industrial revolution (see: the vikings)
In summary: You can't cut out the branch I'm sitting on (as this article is relevant anyway) without cutting yours out from under yourself.
"And that same reporter had only 4 or 5 scientists quoted in detail as wholly supporting Gore. So i guess your point is also equally feeble then?"
I'm not the one holding up this article as though it won me a bet. I recognized it for what it was when I saw it.
“Hardly a week goes by,” Dr. Peiser said, “without a new research paper that questions part or even some basics of climate change theory.”)
HOLY CRAP! That proves that Dr. Pieser says that hardly a week goes by without a research paper that questions some of climate change theory. and ignores that the majority of the scientic community still believes climate change is real and man made.
"Unless of course you expect me to believe that somehow this is all new to humanity in general when greenland hasn't even returned yet to the farmable state it USED to be in long before the industrial revolution (see: the vikings)"
Erik the red who colt onized greenland probably named igreenland in order to attract new settlers. although the southrenpotion of greenland is green today and always has been.
As far as climate change in that era:
It was initially believed that the temperature changes were global. However, this view has been questioned; the 2001 IPCC report summarises this research, saying "…current evidence does not support globally synchronous periods of anomalous cold or warmth over this time frame, and the conventional terms of 'Little Ice Age' and 'Medieval Warm Period' appear to have limited utility in describing trends in hemispheric or global mean temperature changes in past centuries".[2
"In summary: You can't cut out the branch I'm sitting on (as this article is relevant anyway) without cutting yours out from under yourself."
Sure I can, all you have demonstrated is that there are a fringe group of scientist who believe global warming is not real. This is the minority. it is possible that the minority is right, but as most of the learned men on the subject think they are wrong i am hedging my bets.
Fine Craigs, rationalize away dissention however you wish. I've seen long lists of those for and long lists of those against. If there's any majority/minority it's with a margin slimmer than 60/40. Did you hear about those, oh I think it was 80 scientists that disagree? (spreadsheet breakdown here: http://newsbusters.org/node/11282) And what about the claims that the 'consensus' generated by the IPCC might be false to an extent? "He [Professor Paul Reiter of the Pasteur Institute in Paris] explained how he had to threaten legal action against the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to have his name removed from the list of ‘2,000 of the world’s leading scientists’ who apparently backed its summary published last month. The problem? Professor Reiter didn’t back it, instead arguing that it was a ‘sham’. The IPCC ‘make it seem that all the top scientists are agreed, but it’s not true’, he said." Did you get to watch the 'other' documentary? (http://newsbusters.org/node/11331)
Good to see that SOME boogyman (in this case, 'we're all going to die' predictions) can always be found to beat to death disagreement and common sense.
