We could only laugh when we saw that the Gal Pals behind Watching Olbermann Watch shut down THEIR site just as we were brining Olbermann Watch back online. Not surprisingly we noticed that by the next day the site was back up. But checking Technorati today the entire thing gets rather odd. It appears that either the Gal Pals got the site back up or handed it over to some other OlbyLoon.
Becky at Relevant Torture claimsthat WOW has "changed hands". She cites several things including a change in email address, something about sitemeter or something like that, missing graphics and that the poster is now called "the watcher" not "watchingolbermannwatch". She also says that the domain "watchingolbermannwatch.com" no longer points to the Blogger site.
I was not even aware that there was such a domain but when I checked it was listed as own by some offshore domain name speculator which makes absolutely no sense because when you buy a domain the minimum period is one year and I seriously doubt that anyone bought the domain a year ago since the inspiration for the domain was apparently the American Journalism Review article by Mark Lisher which suggested there be a "Watching Olbermann Watch" site.
What seems suspicious to me is that Becky seems so intimately acquainted with the most minute details of a site she supposedly never heard of until a few days ago. As I recall Becky making a big deal of her supposed unwillingness to sully herself by writing "nasty" things on her blog but then breaking her own policy with a nasty post about the closing down of Olbermann Watch could it be that she has decided to take over for the Gal Pals and use WOW as a cover for her anger towards Olbermann Watch?
Meanwhile, the blogger over at Christopher Hitchens Watch seems to have linked to the site after it was taken down (briefly). Why would anyone link to a blog that was down unless they knew it was coming back up?
The OlbyLoons over at KeithOlbermann.org also seem to know a GREAT DEAL about the comings and goings over at Watching Olbermann Watch.
On Thursday at 11:23, the site admin at ko.o tells the OlbyLoons that WOW is down. 40 minutes later "Keyser Sose" a regular OlbyWatch critic from ICN announces...Johnny Dollar now owns the site! Huh?
Minutes later that admin announces that J$'s name is NOT on the site predicts "I bet Cox and Dollar are going to try and 'Tag Team' KO". So now maybe I own the site!
Does anyone wonder why these OlbyLoons are all officers in the Tin Foil Hat Brigade?
[sidebar: this reminds me of a similar thread when one OlbyLoons claimed that her TiVo listed Countdown at 7 PM ET instead of 8 PM setting off a two day jag of a thread about how stupid MSNBC was for moving Keith's time slot - until other OlbyLoons checked their TiVos and found no such change]
By the next morning, Quanlin (who I believe is one of the former GalPals behind the site in the first place), announces that the old owners got the site back. And how would SHE know that? Take a wild guess! So that seems to nail down Quanlin as one of the proprietors - or at least founders of WOW - and lends a lot of support for the notion that her old pal Marisa is in on it too - as I suspected all along. Why else would the so quickly turn WOW into a platform to bring up posts from 2004 that only a handful of people would even know about - and supposedly that angered them at the time.
Apparently realizing she has just outed herself, Quanlin comes back five hours later claiming that she did not mean what she said. With the OlbyLoons now thoroughly confused Michael, founder of ko.o, attempts to bring a measure of sanity to the group by noting "Watching Olbermann Watch strikes me a pretty silly hobby..."
Of course that is meant as an insult to me because we all know that a site dedicated to watching me automatically makes the site the most important blog in the world (next to Olbermann Watch, of course).
So, what is going on at WOW? Who knows? If any clear-thinking readers on this site track down any more "chatter" about what the OlbyLoons are up to please post as comments here. Meanwhile, welcome back WOWLoons whoever you are!
Mr Cox, I had just read The Twisted Tale of M, or perhaps it should be The Tale of the Twisted M, yesterday.
Compared to that major league loonacy this is almost an amusing sidelight.

We lefties know all and see all.

"Mr Cox, I had just read The Twisted Tale of M, or perhaps it should be The Tale of the Twisted M, yesterday."
Funny, how the only time that name comes up is when Mr. Cox brings it up.
Even more funny is that Bob has managed to get himself into yet another "twisted tale' with an entirely different person. Makes one wonder if perhaps Bob is the problem after all.
Feel free to check it out for yourself (link below). While M rode off into the sunset never to be heard from again, Mr. Cox's new victim has created a blog in order to fight back: http://coxstuff.blogspot.com/
And, gee, guess where I found this little story about Mr. Cox and he new vicitim? Yep, you guessed it: Watching OlbermannWatch
Perhaps Mr. Cox was a little quick to jump to conclusions and spread rumors (as is usually the case) about who he thinks is associated with WOW.
Whose on first? Sounds like they can't even figure out who's playing on what team!
Calling Cox to Task, your first statement: "Funny, how the only time that name comes up is when Mr. Cox brings it up.", my dear, is completely wrong, and perhaps deliberately so? I found the link here:

Bob Cox's History of Online Terrorism, Example #3
The mother of all examples of irresponsible blogging.

I clicked on this:
"In a discussion thread on OlbermannWatch"
Voila! there was The Tale of the Twisted M, or if you prefer, The Twisted Tale of M.
If I may be so familiar, may I call you Twisty? I realise that I am up in years, but surely Feb 6, 2007 is still earlier then March 10, 2007.
Dear Twisty, how kind of you to respond so promptly. Proper manners are so lacking in the young of today!
Ta Ta,
Grammie
"If I may be so familiar, may I call you Twisty?"
You may, so long as you're not attempting to suggest that I am "M."
"Dear Twisty, how kind of you to respond so promptly."
Your welcome, though I was hardly responding to you...only referencing what you had said.
"Proper manners are so lacking in the young of today!"
Ah, well I suppose I should confess....I'm not as young as you may have thought. And, yes, I do have manners.
Twisty, you claim you were NOT adressing me. What else can one think when you cut and paste from my post, and then proceed to answer me.
And, you STILL have not addressed the fact that I learned the Tale of the Twisted M from WatchingOlbermanWatch not from any other source. That puts the lie to your assertion.
And such quick responses on a very quiesenent site. What could explain that? Hmm, I wonder.

Hmm, where are my manners, let me be more clear. Again, I was not addressing you, I was referencing something you had said....which of course had itself referenced Bob's raising the name of M. I was simply commenting on the situation: "Funny, how the only time that name comes up is when Mr. Cox brings it up."
So let me be more clear again, I wasn't attacking you or even addressing you. What I meant, specifically, was that name only comes up on this site becuase Bob continues to bring it up. Case in point, had Bob not brought it up, you probably wouldn't have either; which was my point to begin with.
"And such quick responses on a very quiesenent site. What could explain that? Hmm, I wonder."
Hmmm, a new mystery arises: There's Watchers Watching OlbermannWatch!!!! Who could it/they be?
On the other hand, perhaps I was just bored and checked back to see if you had responded. Seriously, not everything is a conspiracy.
Good night Grammie. Get some sleep.
Tomorrow is a new day and perhaps we can discover who's watching OlbermannWatch!
Dear me Grammie, what in the world does 'quiesenent' mean, or did you possibly have 'quiescent' in mind?
"Dear me Grammie, what in the world does 'quiesenent' mean, or did you possibly have 'quiescent' in mind?"
Dear lord, I hope not, Bob's head might explode.
Maybe dear Grammie meant secernent? Yes, secernent, that seems to fit Mr. Cox and this place perfectly.
Troll, troll, troll your crap gently down the web. Merrily, merrily, merrily trolls are but a***oles..
Grammie
Janet, you sure know how to kill a thread. I just know you are more clever than that.
