An ESPN radio host criticized the choice of Keith Olbermann for NBC football, and the infamous deplorable one struck back. Listen in amazement as Oralmann brags about his background, pretends like he never heard of his coworker, and asserts out of thin air that the guy is jealous because Keith got the job! All of this helps distract from the fact that Bathtub Boy completely misses the point, but you can judge that for yourself. We have the mp3 clip for your listening pleasure:

Second time hearing this and it is truly amazing at how bad Olbermann is at spinning something. (Remember the Imus tap dance lasted for days). Maybe that is why it is so easy for Johnny $ to write the recaps. I loved that Colin compared him to Anderson Cooper.
Goodness the Dems are stuck with this guy. He better start taking spin lessens from Hilliary, and fast.
BTW: There are rumors that Rita "dumber than a suitcase full a rocks" Crosby is shopping a TELL-ALL behind-the-cable-news-scenes book. How much you want to bet Olbermann asked her out, got denied, and that was the real reason for his hostility toward her.
My media player must be on the fritz, I thought I heard Keith Olbermann complain that somebody else was factually incorrect.
My biggest complaint on hearing olberdoosh is going to the sunday night football team is wtf do they need so many freaking people for? you need costas and olbermann to talk about football? suffice to say when the preshow is on, ill be off it, when the game is on ill come back, and when the halftime is on, ill be off it again, you get the point
Olby must be smarting over his sinking ratings too, as he got crushed again on Tuesday. It's all piling up, isn't it Keith Anally? The meltdown approaches...
Calling Olbermoron a 'intellectual' is kind of a stretch, isn't it?
Yeah, the folks at ESPN just love Olby, don't they? No wonder he's not allowed to set foot into their HQ.
I think you seemed to have missed the point that Cowherd isn't his coworker and really doesn't know what he is talking about. Keith, while I don't agree with his politics, was a great anchor on ESPN back in the days it was actually good.
Cowherd is an idiot who got caught stealing material from a blog and then just a few weeks ago got caught using his radio show to launch a DoS attack on a blog. The guy is trash radio and probably does have jealousy issues.
Perhaps you should take some time to do a little research about him before you start in on your bashing. I know that would completely miss the point of your site, but good lord.
His response to Cowherd's criticism is the precise reason I'll be skipping the NBC show this fall. Smug, defensive, and never once addressing the central criticism levelled at him which is that Keith isn't a 'football guy' in that its not a sport Keith has chosen as something he likes, assuming he likes any sports beyond their ability to earn him a paycheck. Keith wanted to recite his broadcaster's resume'. There's no debating that he's qualified as a broadcaster, but knowing how to call a highlight and time for a commercial is not the point. The only sport which he even approached any affection for, as I remember it, was a grudging admiration for the historic significance of baseball. I want the guy calling the football highlight to share my enthusiasm. I don't believe Keith does.
Besides that, Keith is a cynical smart-aleck about *everything*, and when he and Dan used to do SportsCenter, it was funny until I noticed that Keith always assumed the most venal, base motives for everything and was far quicker with criticism than any type of praise. Even when praised, an athelete often was damned with faint praise. The genuine admiration for skill and talent never appeared, especially in contrast to Dan who actually seemed to like the sports he commented upon.
Poking fun is fine with me. Unending ridicule is not. Good luck with the show NBC. You'll do fine without me watching. I'll just watch a TiVo'd NFL primetime the next morning.
Olby steals material from blue blogs (among others) and presents it on the air unattributed on a regular basis. He and Cowherd might just have something in common.
So typical of Olbermann not to get the point. And so typical of him not to directly answer what Cowherd was saying.
"who got caught stealing material from a blog"
Oy, if KO and his producers ever lose their internet connection the show would have to be canceled. Stealing from blogs? For Countdown, it's called research.
Or perhaps they could try actual real news reporting. Y'know, interviewing people, phoning individuals, going to original source material.
Funny that when you google "Olbermann theft blogs" the only thing that comes up is something about an auto theft ring.
When you google "Cowherd theft blogs" you receive multiple links to posts about Cowherds' theft of the MZone's material and his DoS attack on thebiglead.
So, I can present easily available proof of Cowherd's theft, can you do the same of Olbermann's?
Yes, and JD does it every single night in his show recaps as he sources Olbermann's "news" to the blue blogs and their spin on "news" items.
I believed Donald Trump to be the world's biggest blowhard but I am now starting to lean to Olbermann.
This guy's non-stop preening self absorption never fails to amuse.
Pretending to not remember someone's name is the most elitist dismissal possible. This wasn't irony, this was pure insecurity.
Olby doesn't understand that most states are red and his liberalism will matter. Keith has already alienated half of the NFL audience before he starts. See Dennis Miller's Monday Night Football flop.
Dan Patrick pointed out that one loses credibility by ping-ponging from sports to news and back to sports again. Not that Keith has any "credibility" to lose. I predict that the likable Bob Costas will egg the unlikable Ubermoronn into saying something career-endingingly stupid.
Cowherd is an imbecile. How is football a redstate sport? Let's take the the top 10 NFL attendance cities of 2006 and see if they are from a red or blue region:
City Total atten avg per game
1 Washington 701,049 87,631
2 NY Giants 628,910 78,613
3 Kansas City 623,275 77,909
4 NY Jets 618,575 77,321
5 Denver 610,782 76,347
6 Carolina 588,543 73,567
7 Miami 585,973 73,246
8 Cleveland 578,672 72,334
9 Baltimore 566,547 70,818
10 Green Bay 565,749 70,718
It appears to me that the blue regions have 5 (Wash, NYG, NYJ, Baltimore, GB). The red is represented by 4 (KC, Carolina, Miami, Cleveland). And there is a very purple region represented by Denver.
So Cowherd was talking out of his ass. Way to stick up for yourself Keith!
Olbermann didn't get it and neither do you Indierik. Not surprising in the least. Cowherd's point was that NBC already has a intellecltual snob know-it-all from the Northeast on the Show (Bob Costas), it didn't need TWO.
When Dan asks Keith if he's better at doing NFL highlights than Costas, Keith replies that he can't say yes because he's working with the guy. In other words, "Yes I am, but Bob's higher up on the ladder so I won't make that comparison."
Did anyone bother to listen to Cowherd the
next morning to hear if he responded to
the Orange One in any way on his ESPN
radio program?
Olbermann's gig on NFL Football will ceratinly get him more exposure-- but not in a way that Olbermann will appreciate. Putting aside his shoddy journalistic skills, Olbermann's personality is ill suited to this medium. Football fans want announcers who call the game almost as if they are having a conversation with them in their living room. Look at the most sucessful announcers in football-- Madden, Aikman, Summerall, the late Curt Gowdy. The one trait they possess is that they convey a sense that they know a lot about the game, but it is if as if they are just sitting there with you in your living room having a beer with you and enjoying the game. Now think about Olbermann. Does he seem like a guy who comes across like this? Olbermann will repel football fans and people who didn't know about him before will know about him now. And this does not bode well for Keith.
He was fine when he was doing SportsCenter. But football isn't his area of expertise. I just wonder if this is a way for NBC to give him the NBC-network exposure he obviously wanted as part of his contract renegotiations but without having to let him near NBC Nightly News as originally promised.
I have a feeling Brian Willaims wants no part of Olbyonesidedkanobie. What I want to know, is NBC going to give Olby his own booth to sit in? How is he going to sit in the same booth with someone who voted for the eevil Bush? Costas is a libby, they will get along ok, I imagine. The other announcers are conservatives. It will be interesting, to say the least.
Jeff, I guess you haven't read the reports that Keith Olbermann and Shaun Hannity are actually friends...or at least very friendly towards each other in person....HORRORS you say!
Yes, this IS possible in the world of normal people, although probably not yours.
I have many conservative friends...a few of them are very conservative. And, yes...we actually like and respect each other, even argue politics sometimes...but then we still like and respect each other.
Which "reports" are these? I have many liberal friends and some of my clients are liberal. One is a teacher at Stanford U. He was stupid enough to blame the conditions of the roads in Ca. on the war! It's scary to think this man calls himself a professor. I haven't and won't let him forget that ignorant spew. In response to the second part of your post, "normal" people, lets not forget we are talking about Ulbermahn.
Did you tell your 'friend' the 'professor' how 'stupid' you think he is?
Ignorant is the word I used, yest I did. Any one that blames a war of 4 yrs on a road problem that has been ongoing for 30+ yrs is seriously clouded by their political views. The kind that blamed Bush for Katrina fall in the same category, clueless and ignorant. The Katrina fiasco is the fault of the Governor and the Mayor of N.O. and no one else.
This is the kind of thing I'm talking about Jeff. Are you asking ME to defend this particular professor's alleged comments?
Do you really think I would accept at face value YOUR translation of his arguments?.....especially after reading the MANY distortions of mine, and other people's positions that you have posted on this discussion board.
The only fair way to evaluate his arguments would be to hear them directly from him.
Bovine Queen sez:

Bovine Queen defending Bush's incompetence during Katrina? Surprise!!
How about Brownie, after being fired and ridiculed, turning against Moron in Chief?
How about the video of Moron in Chief being informed about the impending danger?
And YET you, BOVINE QUEEN, claim NOT TO BE A BUSHWIPE.
Heck, you are one post away from claiming Scooter Libby did nothing wrong!
Oh, wait! It was a set-up from those terrorist-lovin-Demonrats!
Right? Queenie!
I just noticed something Jeff:
I quoted you as referring to your "professor friend" as 'stupid', and you corrected me by saying "ignorant is the word I used".
The fact is Jeff, you used BOTH words to describe your 'friend'....so why did you correct me on this point? You used the word 'stupid' to characterize the 'professor' himself and then followed up by called his alleged viewpoint 'ignorant'.
You just 'corrected' me when I was 100% right, and yet you wonder why no one takes you and your viewpoints seriously.
lil mikey, you are so desperate to pin something on me, you need to go back and read your post then read my response. Wipe the slobber off of your face first, take a deep breath and read them slowly. Your desperation is really showing.
You just 'corrected' me when I was 100% right, and yet you wonder why no one takes you and your viewpoints seriously.

"No one?" Really? Are you speaking for "everyone" again? Last time you did that it came back and bit you in the ass, this time will be the same.
This is the kind of thing I'm talking about Jeff. Are you asking ME to defend this particular professor's alleged comments?
There you go again, putting words in my mouth, you never learn do ya? Where did I ask you to defend the professors comments? Nowhere, dumbo!

"No one?"
Sure, BOVINE, you'll always have your boyfriends the Joker, Brandon, maybe Johnny Bu$hwipe. Heck maybe even Bob will officially appoint you as the site's WORST COMPLIMENTARY BUSHWIPE!
Do you have a counterpoint to make Jeff?
Now let me define counterpoint; It means you need to define what it is about my post that is wrong, otherwise my point stands.
Now Jeff, let me explain something; a 'counterpoint' does not include calling me "lil mikey" or discussing 'slobber' on my face. Nor does it include telling me to reread posts that I have already read 2 or 3 times.
This is another example of why nobody takes you seriously...just someone good for a laugh.
"Where did I ask you to defend the professors comments? Nowhere, dumbo."
Not literally, but you were denegrating your alleged 'friend's' intelligence by calling him 'stupid' and his arguments 'ignorant'.
My point was that you presumed to present his viewpoints on this board and expected everyone else to take your translation of it at face value, even though you have a well established history on this board of distorting everyone else's viewpoints.
As usual, you missed the point...but then again, you ALWAYS miss the point.
Yet ANOTHER example of why nobody takes you seriously...just someone good for a laugh.
If you can't see where you are wrong, read them a 4th time.
Hey Bob/JD,
You need to do another reader poll. This one should ask readers whether they think Olby can resist firing a political potshot at Bush/Rove/O'Reilly or some other conservative voice during his NFL gig. The reader should be offered response choices such as: a) Yes, he'll do it in the first game; b) Yes, but he'll resist the temptation 'til mid-season and it will hardly be noticed; c) Yes, he will launch into full meltdown and it will send out shock waves; d) No, he will be on good behavior.
No Jeff, it's up to you to show me where I'm 'wrong', and make a coherent argument defending that position, otherwise my point stands.
It's called 'debate' jeff. you keep using that word....and implying that it is something you do...but you don't. Why don't you start?
Otherwise, my points stand!
Another example of why you're never taken seriously...just someone good for a laugh.
Listening to this clip again, several things stand out:
1) At one point, Patrick says about Olbermann, "you, being a liberal". Olbermann does not try to correct him. Apparently, Olbermann has dropped the pretense that he is not biased, even as MSLSD continues to promote his show as a "news" show, rather than the one sided propaganda organ that it is.
2) He asks Patrick THREE times during the interview, "Now who is this guy, again?" This is a third graders tactic to try to answer criticism through insult. Olbermann may not have known the guy, but by the time that he asked Patrick the first time who his critic was, there is no need to keep reminding the listener that you don't know him. Even if Olbermann really did not know the guy, why is it so important to keep alluding to this fact THREE times during the interview? This is the sort of stuff you see on Meltdown night in and night out that passes for "news analysis" and one of the main reasons his ratings are in the toilet.
3) Patrick asked Olbermann to state what he thought was factually incorrect about the criticism. In typical Olberamnn default mode, Olberamnn did not give a responsive answer, just more insults and more touting his fairly minimal experience in analyzing the NFL.
4) Olbermann never did address the problem that Patrick brought up: That fans will not relate to him as a "guy's guy" but more as a guy wearing an ascot and sipping pinot. Again Olby simply went to default mode (I've got some expereince blah blah blah my critic is a nobody blah blah blah, my critic is jealous blah blah blah). Olby could have answered Patrick by rebutting the assumption that he is an effette liberal winesipper, but he didn't because it is obvious to all that this is who he really is.
5) I will concede that Olbermann did try to answer that the criticism that he will turn the NFL gig into his own political forum by assertin that there is a "time to do this" and implying that the NFL gig is not that time? Yeah right Keith , you have such wonderful self control when it comes to seperating the political world from other matter. (Remember the Seig Heil salute).
Are you neocons that blinded by your hatred with liberals to see that olbermann killed shrutebag during that segment. Cowherd's a jealous ass who wanted the job himself.
Maybe if your right-wing retards actually lived in reality you would be able to see that.
Still defending Ulbermahn after he called YOU a moron? LMAO!
When Jeff get's his ass handed to him he just hurries to another page and continues to spout his gibberish.
How funny is that !
I've never met a human being so resistent to learning in my life.
If it comes from CNN,ABC CBS etc...it all false and a lie to him.
It's really amazing just how jaded and out of touch he really is.
It's amazing you can defend someone that called YOU a moron!
