Sometimes it's difficult to come up with a topic, when you're a "pro" voice on an "anti" site, but I think I've come up with something to appease everybody. It's based on two words: "Special Comment". I'm sure just mentioning that has some fingers already poised over the keys, ready to rumble. Not so fast, bucko! I wasn't overly impressed with Olbermann's anti-Giuliana rant Wednesday night. Amazed?
It's not that he didn't make some good points about the genesis of the War in Iraq (PBS did a better job, by the way), but Giuliani's statement didn't deserve to be expanded into ten minutes on the air. Moreover, the simple fact that Hillary Clinton is using essentially the same argument makes the Special Comment seem inappropriate and contradictory.
For those of you who haven't been playing along, here's Giuliani:
"If any Republican is elected president - and I think obviously I would be best at this - we will remain on offense and will anticipate what (the terrorists) will do and try to stop them before they do it."
And, from Tiime Magazine's piece on Hillary Clinton's stepped-up fundraising efforts:
"Both Clintons have made the case to potential fund raisers that the U.S. will probably suffer a terrorist attack on the scale of 9/11 after the next President is sworn in — and that Hillary is the only Democratic candidate capable of handling such a crisis because of her Senate Armed Services Committee tenure and her years in the White House."
It's enough to confuse voters on both sides of the aisle! It's like watching two kids on the playground: "I'll keep you safe". "No, I'll keep you safe".
I'm guessing that Olbermann had no knowledge of the Time piece; it came out the day AFTER his Special Comment. Still, this Special Comment didn't come up to par with his previous missives. Perhaps he'd been distracted, all tied up in the purchase of that big, new, condominium in NYC. If I had his new contract, I'd go for the gusto, too. Allison Stewart could have kept the show on track for a third night. That would have avoided the non-special "Special Comment".
One strike-out among a lot of home runs ain't bad.

DADAA DOUG
Is this imbecile the only one who hasn't figured out that Olbermann is in the tank Hillary Rotten Clinton. Why does he think Olberfool took a potshot an Obamanation? The closer we get to the election, the more Meltdown will become a Clinton mouthpiece. Olbermann is a full fledge Clintonista. Whatever Hillary's talking points are, the Zombie Olbermann will mumble them out each night. Chris Mattews is a left wing hack but at least he is not campaigning for his favorite dem on Oddball.
Well, maybe the next illogical "special comment" on whoever among the Republican candidates looks to be a possible front-rrunner will make up for the disappointing Giuliani comment, Doug....
I'm sure you're RIGHT.... if only Olbermann had just seen the TIME piece first...
Goddamn you're an idiot!

Don't mind, AAP, Doug. He has Tourette's...
To all my Zombies out there, Keith, Average American Patriot, Sir Loin of Beef, Mike, and CW, my new marching orders are to drop the name Rodham when you write or say my name. The ham and eggers out there need to connect me with my cohort Bill. They need to feel that if the elect me, Bill will really be running the country. Rodham might have worked in the Peoples Republic of New York but in fly over country, I need to hitch my wagon to Bill. By the way, instead of using the term Bushwipe today, please use the term BushCo. Bushwipe is kind of getting stale.
"THE United States' leading hurricane forecaster says global ocean currents, not human-produced carbon dioxide, are responsible for global warming.
William Gray, a Colorado State University researcher, also said the Earth may begin to cool on its own in five to 10 years.
Speaking to a group of Republican MPs, Dr Gray had harsh words for researchers and politicians who said man-made greenhouse gases were responsible for global warming.
"They are blaming it all on humans, which is crazy," he said.
"We're not the cause of it."
Dr Gray said in the past 40 years the number of serious hurricanes making landfall on the US Atlantic coast had declined even though carbon dioxide levels had risen.
He said increasing levels of carbon dioxide would not produce more, or stronger, hurricanes.
Dr Gray, 77, has long criticised the theory that heat-trapping gases generated by human activity are causing the world to warm.
Earlier this month, he dubbed former US vice-president and 2000 Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore "a gross alarmist" for making the Oscar-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, which helped focus media attention on global warming.
Yesterday, Dr Gray said that politics and research into global warming had created "almost an industry" that had frightened the public and overwhelmed dissenting voices.
He said research arguing that humans were causing global warming was "mush" based on unreliable computer models that could not possibly take into account the hundreds of factors that influenced the weather.
He said little-understood ocean currents were behind a decades-long warming cycle, and disputed assertions that greenhouse gases could raise global temperatures as much as some scientists predicted.
"There's no way that doubling CO2 is going to cause that amount of warming," he said.
Dr Gray also said warming and cooling trends could not go on indefinitely and believed temperatures were beginning to level out after a very warm year in 1998."
More global warming consensus.:)
He lost me when he started feverishly doing those special comments. He sounds insane and each one is progressively more bizarre. Sometimes I don't even hear what he's saying because the visuals and the ranting take over any meaning.
George?!?
"I support GW 100 percent and our efforts in Iraq 100%"
Nawhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Oh, Bovine! Meet Laura!
Laura, meet Yosemite Sam...er... BovineQueen.
Now, you two girls play nice.
Laura, don't upset Bovine. She doesn't wave a flag, she carries a gun.
And don't let those terrorist lovin' democrats steer the posts toward relevant issues such as the failed war in Iraq.
You two can always discuss K.O.'s dick size.
Know something about Keith Olbermann?
Send it to us!
Thank you, Bob!
You know, it would be the respectable thing to do for Keith to take Hillary to task for the same exact thing he railed Rudy for in his 15 minute long "Special Comment". But by going by Keith's track record, I'm not holding my breath.
The Factor-less keeps amusing us with isolated global warming myths, while the world is starting to make changes because educated people know we're in big trouble and the evidence is there for all to see...except the deaf dumb and blind, eh Factor ?
What an idiot !
What you've got to understand is that Giuliani Derangement Syndrome has a far longer history than Bush Derangement Syndrome, dating back to the late 1980s, when Rudy was preparing for his first run for mayor against David Dinkins. It's just that being mayor of New York doesn't cause raging insanity in folks from other parts of the country, no matter how big the media market is, and 9/11 brushed even some of the GDSers on the left in New York aside.
But it's there among the left in New York, and it's just as intense and passionate as anything directed at Bush. Those are the people who are feeding the anti-Rudy stuff into the Media Matters, Daily Kos and other Internet outlets Keith cherry picks from, so as long as Giuliani remains a viable candidate, Olbermann's Special Comments figure to get even more shrill (though to be fair, Keith's so gone by now that, come this time next Spring, if he was in full bloom with a case of Fred Thompson Derangement Syndrome, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised).
The information being reported about Guiliani is all true.
No wonder you don't want it revealed.
Those pictures of him in drag are damning enough.
A picture really is worth a 1000 words !
Most likely thing that will happen is somebody will criticize Hillary for that, and Keith will attack the attacker, saying "But but but Rudy said it too!"
If (when) that happens I think I should get my own Special Comment!
Ok, Average American Punk, here is your q to do one of your "SHOOOOOOOOOT" routines that makes no sense to anyone but your own bad self.......go ahead, get yourself off. (watch this folks, it won't be good)
Why?
When I can use one "you know what I mean" and get you to burst a coronary?
Is Hill aiming to clean up the al Qaeda mess that her hubby Bubba created when he didn't get bin Laden when he was in our crosshairs during Slick Willie's stint in the Oval Office? I doubt it.
I guess my biggest question is: why would any sane human watch Olbermeinfuhrer in the first place?
Just begging for an aneurysm.
Oh I came to the conclusion a long time ago that KO's Special Comments were really all about Special Ratings. If you notice, he's been getting less bang for his buck lately with them though.
KAF - I agree. They are a ratings ploy. But sometimes he sounds as if his head will explode. Tonight he suggested a Special Comments movie. Ok, I know he was joking but he did refer to himself as "screaming" thru them. Sometimes I feel as if I need to towel off after one of them.
Terror attacks up nearly 30%, report says
By Warren P. Strobel and Jonathan S. Landay
McClatchy Newspapers
WASHINGTON - A State Department report on terrorism due out next week will show a nearly 30 percent increase in terrorist attacks worldwide in 2006 to more than 14,000, almost all of the boost due to growing violence in Iraq and Afghanistan, U.S. officials said Friday.
Olby's days are numbered. Only a dumb SOB could sit and watch some loud mouth shoot his big mouth off night after night where all his guest agree with his opinion and zero input from the other side. At the height of his pinnacle he is drawing 1/3 the viewing audience O'Reilly is pulling down and struggles to hold second place.
