"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Guest Host: Monica Novotny
Topics/Guests:
[NOTE: Olbermann, unwilling to go toe-to-toe with the season finale of "24", comes up with the broadcasting equivalent of a hamstring injury and takes the night off.
I will absolutely be watching 24 tonight (as usual).
FYI, I was with Robert Greenwald Friday at a conference in NYC, chatted with him briefly, he's a bit hyper.
Anyone catch the Simpsons/24 episode last night?
When does Johnny Dollar return to Olby Watch so that we can stop suffering under the thumb of E.Schatz? When?
The real reason Ulbermahn is off is because he's geting info on the battle between his Al-Qaeda buddies and the Lebanese government.
Rich, Joker. You contribute so much to our dialogue with your astute name-calling and mud-slinging. Substance and analysis are over-rated and require some education and knowledge. All over-rated, to be sure.
Why is he taking the night off? It seems like he's done this too many times in recent memory. He show will suffer for this.
Is it to see a neurologist about his head-hitting that caused his Assholeness? Or is he making another offering to the porcelain god?
Thanks for the heads up on this. I'll watch something else.
Yankees vs. Red Sox, enough said.
Yep, and I believe Keith was scheduled to throw out the first toddler before the start of tonight's game.
From the upper deck.
Oh noes, not Monica Novotny! She's much too beautiful to be associated with The Deplorable One.
OMG that was funny you guys :)
I wish my boss would let me off as much as Keith's boss lets him off. But when you are the boss it's hard not to be the example to your employees. When my employee needs time off it's usually for their children.
What example is Keith showing? Get a million dollar contract and screw his viewers for a stupid ball game?! Priorities! Remember, you're so much better ... ! Way to be that example to us all Keith! I know you have a million more reasons why you believe you are so much better than all of us but come on -- you call in -- for a ball game?!
I though it was an emergency like he promised Kathy he'd unzip tonight. :(
(Yuck vomit in my mouth)
"Promise honey bunny, I filled the Viagra prescription this morning."
Do your @#$% job you SOB!
Keith was afraid to go up against Michelle Malkin filling in for Bill O'Reilly and get ANOTHER ratings spanking, so he called in sick.
Poor Olby.
Even with Keith gone the #1 story is American Idle. This time it's about their "sinking" ratings. Last time I checked Idle was still easily winning its timeslot, something Keithy would know nothing aboot.
A Florida doctor was convicted Monday of providing material support to terrorists by agreeing to treat injured al-Qaida fighters so they could return to Iraq to battle Americans.
Dr. Rafiq Abdus Sabir, 52, was convicted in Manhattan federal court after a three-week trial that featured testimony by him and Ali Soufan, an FBI agent who posed as an al-Qaida recruiter in a sting operation that led to four arrests.
When the verdict was read, Sabir just looked straight ahead. Later, as he was escorted from the courtroom, he waved to supporters, who said, 'Stay strong.'
His lawyer, Ed Wilford, said, 'We are deeply disappointed in the verdict.'
The charges against the Harlem-born Sabir, including conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, carry a potential maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
The verdict came after jurors heard audio tapes of a May 2005 ceremony in a Bronx apartment in which Sabir and his best friend, Tariq Shah, a martial arts expert and jazz musician, pledged loyalty to al-Qaida and, the government alleged, Osama bin Laden.
Here's one of those fun loving muslims right here in America. Boy, we should just let them all come over here, shouldn't we?
Michele Malkin: One of the most discredited talking heads ever !
You dopes make me laugh !
Will Keith screw over us football fans this fall with his constant absences?
(I) Think I'll treat my employees to a baseball game in NY for them rarely calling in *cough* "sick."
How many times has that SOB called in?!
She may be a "discredited" talking head (only in Loonland) but she has handily beats Olby in the ratings every time she's guest-hosted for O'Reilly.
The hardest working man in TV. From the Hollywood Reporter, "Olbermann said the new gig won't affect either "Countdown" or "Dan Patrick," though he said he might take a Friday off during football season to get a two-day weekend."
Michele Malkin: The genius that has come out for arming college students on campus, and that's just her lastest ridiculous statement.
Not to mention she is one of the biggest asskingers for George Bush ever. She makes cee look like a Democrat.
"and as many nights off as necessary to catch Yankees games". Guess that part got sniped out.
Sigh*
I'm stupid. I work literally 7 days a week. I usually have my evenings to myself -- to catch up on housework. In my business I have to be ready for almost anything.
I'm not saying this for sympathy just fact. As a viewer I "own you." Understand what I'm saying. I, as a viewer, expect -- no DEMAND a certain amount of you the "personality." You have to do your show and be "available to" your fans. I just feel you aren't giving us that Keith. Why?
Because he's a lazy egotistical arrogant ass?
"Rich, Joker. You contribute so much to our dialogue with your astute name-calling and mud-slinging"
Well, maybe the Joker is qualified to be President then by that standard, albeit a poor one. We already have a rather infamous ex-President providing a sterling example in the "name-calling and mud slinging" department:
Carter said: "I think . . . this administration has been the worst in history."
Oh yeah the boo boo on the noggin.
Was that a real excuse? Olbermann "medical condition" was he hit his head in a subway car? (See my post in the breakdance thread).
The AP had an interesting item over the weekend, highlighting Attorney General Alberto Gonzales’ perspective on being close friends with the president. As the embattled Gonzales sees it, his close relationship with Bush, which spans decades, is inherently “a good thing” for everyone.
“Being able to go and having a very candid conversation and telling the president: ‘Mr. President, this cannot be done. You can’t do this,’ — I think you want that,” Gonzales told reporters this week. “And I think having a personal relationship makes that, quite frankly, much easier always to deliver bad news.”
“Do you recall a time when you (were) in there and said, ‘Mr. President, we can’t do this’?” Gonzales was asked.
“Oh, yeah,” the attorney general responded.
“Can you share it with us?” a reporter asked.
“No,” Gonzales said.
Now, I think there are two ways to look at this. 1. Gonzales is lying about this little story, and there’s never been a time in which he’s had to keep the president from going too far. He’s the quintessential “yes man,” who does as he’s told. Or 2. Gonzales is telling the truth, and the Attorney General/WH Counsel — the one who’s approved of abandoning the Geneva Conventions and the rule of law — believes some of the president’s other requests are beyond the pale.
I’m struggling to decide which is worse.
Ohhhhhh look! It is thee classic example of the pot calling the kettle black! Jim Cramer, whom I know would invest in a battery company in the wake of a national disaster (batteries - stability = $ $ $ $ $), whom demonstrates no true expression of Compassionate sensibility, who makes a mockery of everything that CNBC stands for, is asking whether Jimmy Carter plays for this nation's enemies. I wish that Jim Cramer was more specific when he asked that, because he would in no way vouch for the United States of America. No sir-ee!!!!!
"I’m struggling to decide which is worse."
Maybe it's neither one--maybe he's protecting attorney-client privilege, idiot.
Sandy Burglar steals classified info from the Nat'l Archives and these left wing loonies are worried about Gonzales legally firing 8 incompetent attorneys? Jefferson had 90 thou in his freezer, on tape taking bribes? The repubs are corrupt? Where's the logic?
At least our corrupt politicians dont molest small children. And you named two. You all have Jack Abramhoff, Rep Robert Ney (R-OH), DeLay, Ted Klaut, Foley, Rep Doolittle, Gonzalez, Bush, Cheney, The RNC-Karl Rove E-Mail Scandal, Scooter Libby, the Military Contractor Scandals, Duke Cunningham, Paul Wolfowitz, ect.
The website beyonddelay.org has its own list of the 20 msot corrupt, only 3 democrats made the list.
Politics and corruption go hand in hand. We're not saying that it doesnt happen in our party. We're saying its alot more prevalent in yours.

Perish the thought....I could never be part of a group that agrees to fund a war they call absurd, lost, evil, immoral, lining Haliburton's pockets, lining Cheney's pockets, killing innocents, creating refugees,
creating terrorists, based on lies, Bush's war, a waste of money, a waste of lives, vastly unpopular, the reason the democrats now control congress.
Now if they were right and had passed Reid-Feingold, I could be a democrat....But they were not and they......well.....I won't repeat myself......
BTW, the following "leaders" chose to fund the war they described as absurd, lost, evil, immoral, lining Haliburton's pockets, lining Cheney's pockets, killing innocents, creating refugees, creating terrorists, based on lies, Bush's war, a waste of money, a waste of lives, vastly unpopular, the reason the democrats now control congress:

"There were a few tense moments, however, including an encounter involving Joshua Sparling, 25, who was on crutches and who said he was a corporal with the 82nd Airborne Division and lost his right leg below the knee in Ramadi, Iraq. Mr. Sparling spoke at a smaller rally held earlier in the day at the United States Navy Memorial, and voiced his support for the administration?s policies in Iraq. Later, as antiwar protesters passed where he and his group were standing, words were exchanged and one of the antiwar protestors spit at the ground near Mr. Sparling; he spit back." NYT 1/28/07

Keith will be at the stadium instigating phony bomb threats.

That's the problem, Bumblefuck - fascists like you, Bush, and Gonzales actually BELIEVE that the Attormey General is the Preznit's lawyer. The position was intended to act as the ultimate procedural advocate of the US constitution, not whatever little mob-boss that happens to occupy the Oval Office.
You drowning rats are so eager to Follow the Leader its sickening.
Of course they funded the war. Its still their responsibility to protext the troops. Bush is holding them hostage by refusing to work with them. They had to do something. It would be been morally wrong to hold out on the troops like that, Members of Congress arent President Bush, who uses the troops as collateral to get his way. See, we have this thing in our party, its called social concern. We care about people, and despite the fact that we dont agree with the war, the men and women are there, and its still our responsibility to do everything we can to make sure they are safe.(Despite the Bushies antics to do the opposite) The Iraq Funding Bill wasnt just a concession though, there are benchmarks, we are holding the Iraqi people accountable. Bush tied thier hands, put them in the position to be the bad person. Hes evil. They passed a bill that went with the American people, 221-205. Then Bush, being the asshole that he is, vetoed it. Cutting funding all together is mean, Bush wouldnt respond, he'd let them over there to fight for his oil, armor or no armor. We already know he doesnt care about them, so someone has to.
One of the men on that list, Jim Webb, is VERY anti-war. Very anti-bush. However, he has a SON over in Iraq. Call me a responsible parent, but I dont think that any parent in their right mind would pull money out of their childs hands in a foreign land with bullets coming at them. Bush has used the troops as bargaining chips, hes the lowest of the low.

rk sez "Sandy Burglar steals classified info from the Nat'l Archives and these left wing loonies are worried about Gonzales legally firing 8 incompetent attorneys? Jefferson had 90 thou in his freezer, on tape taking bribes? The repubs are corrupt? Where's the logic?"
You can't handle logic, son. If you could, you'd have already stated that Berger was tried and Jefferson is being actively investigated. It is only logical that Gonzolas take his medicine, child...
Nick,
Quit being intentionally obtuse. No one is "pulling money out of the hands" of our troops in the field (except of course, for the Bush administration, which is forcefully attempting to reduce the payraise and survivors' benefits legislated by congress: http://www.bradblog.com/?p=4581 ).
Cutting funding is the legislative method of ending the war and bringing the troops home against the eforts of a recalcitrant executive. The only way this could result in soldiers without ammo or support would be if Bush persists in keeping the "surge" going on and on when the money is eventually gone. Before this would happen, however, pressures from his own party would force him to comly or to leave ofice.
its alright, he just cant handle anything. He doesnt have any arguments, he just plays on a couple words and hopes the person hes arguing against isnt capable of coherent thought. He could probably school King Bush at a debate, but thats about it.
Ill bet that if he responds to this at all he'll bring something up about me saying "certain death" and back peddling, what a retard.
"Sandy Burglar steals classified info from the Nat'l Archives and these left wing loonies are worried about Gonzales legally firing 8 incompetent attorneys? Jefferson had 90 thou in his freezer, on tape taking bribes? The repubs are corrupt? Where's the logic?"
Incompetent? Check their records, awards, and peer accolades - these were dedicated professionals representing the top of their class. Despite their registration as Republicans these prosecutors had the integrity and grasp of the concept of "law" to resist overt attempts to make them plitical tools.
To royalking and his fellow fascist mind-slaves "incompetence" means unwillingness to subvert our justice system at the whim of party bosses.
SLOB, no surprise, with those goggles you sport, would ignore the "beef" of my post.
Goggles? WTF? Your sentence, which is really just a string of incompatible phrases and delusions in which I figure as both subject and addressee, is barely decipherable. However, I think I get your jist.
If by "beef" you are referring to your ceaceless echoing of "Sandy Burglar...Sandy Burglar...", I ignored it because blindrat had already put iyour point to bed by pointing out that the Berger/Jefferson issues have been or are currently being dealt within the legal system - no one has any problem with that, except the defendents, I suppose.
You object viscerally to any suggestion that your leaders face any similar prodcedural scrutiny, or be subjected to any form of accountability whatsoever.
SLOB, has anyone under Bush been caught stealing from the Nat'l Archives (critical 9/11 info) or with 90 thou of marked money in their freezer?
No, RK, not that I know of.
Are these, then, the only acts you consider as crimes?
Bush has used the troops as bargaining chips, hes the lowest of the low.
---
Thank you, Nick.
The President is constantly tell us to "Support the Troops, Pass the Funding Bill," yet there is no one less supportive of the troops than the President. Cutting raises, limiting internet communication with families, horrendous medical facilities, constantly sending more soldiers to die or be injured with no, I repeat, no plan to win. It is all unforgiveable. Yet, we have the Foul Progenny of his policies screaming, whining, pouting constantly on this very website about even the slightest effort to hold the President accountable. It is both puzzling and disgusting. We'll spend the rest of our lives, and our children and grandchildren the rest of their lives trying to recover and reclaim America from this lot.
Let me add, royalking, that I expect Jefferson will end up in jail. From what I know of his case any other outcome would represent a failure of justice. Berger's poblem has been adjudicated, and little remains of the case but right-wing bitching and vitriol.
Its my tun to ask a question; have you ever heard of Bob Ney, Randy Cunningham, Bob Taft, David H. Safavian, and Claude Allen?

Nick, 'debating' with Jeff is a lot like trying to argue with your daughter's talking doll.
Hello....my name is Jeff....I'm a talking doll....I'm programmed to call myself Royalking these days....my programming includes all the latest Rebublo-Bush talking points....thats all I know, but I know a lot of them....I don't listen, I just talk....call me dumb, I don't care cuz my brain is just a pre-programmed Republican sound bite data bank....squeeze me and out pops another talking point....I can do it all day and all night....yada, yada, yada.
Mike, stop talking to Nick.
It is only a matter of time before Bovine skips one of his meds and goes on his paranoid rants (again) accusing Nick of being you, Nick of being me, Nick of being Sir Loin, Nick of being Clucker, and Nick posting under some 40 other names and also anonymously.
LOL!
I guess that royalking is gone. My evidence? It suddenly got less stupid on this board...
way below average, shouldn't you be getting your donkey ready for your next show?
rk,
You'd understand "average", son; I believe that it is what you aspire to someday achieve.
My donkey thinks that you aren't very bright as well. But, she's only comparing your intelligence to hers...and she's an above average donkey...
Told ya!
Bovine is already hallucinating more of his farm animal scenarios.
Carry on my wayward Bovine!
LOL!
assrat, have you found those 20,000 muslims in our service, yet? 20,000, 4000, why quibble about a mere 16000 person difference.
I gave you an article and link, child. Have someone read it to you, boy...
My donkey says hello...
Owwwooooowwwh Bwwwwovine!
Have you found those 40 - 60, names that YOU said Mike and I were using to post?
LOL!
I tell you Bovine, "bait, hook, line and sinker"
assrat, so you are discounting my info from the Pentagon?
rk,
They don't have a very good track record of providing honest information, now do they, son?...
(about 4,000 of the 1.4 million active-duty troops identify themselves as Jews, while Muslims number about 3,400, according to the Pentagon).
Wow! rk can repost something. I already posted, son...from a reliable source...
Yours is less reliable...or have the WMDs been found?
Say Bovine! When is the round up starting?
---
Muslims number about 3,400, according to the Pentagon).

Just think about it Bovine!
3,400 MUSLIMS, with MILITARY TRAINING, with GUNS, BIG GUNS!! SCARY ONES!!
Bovine! what are you doing in the internets!?
YOU GOTTA BE OUT THERE, AT THE ENTRANCE OF YOUR NEAREST MILITARY BASE, LOOKING OUT FOR MUSLIMS!!
BTW, don't forget to bring your guns.
LOL!!
Patriot,
rk would wet himself at the sight of combat...
Hey royalking, quit pestering people regarding your petulent demands for irrelevant information, at least until you respond to mine:
"have you ever heard of Bob Ney, Randy Cunningham, Bob Taft, David H. Safavian, and Claude Allen?"
assrat, who was your source you claim more reliable than the Pentagon?
The CSM, son. You can see why: The military doesn't force people to identify their religions; so, the Pentagon only has those who choose to identify themselves as Muslim...
CSM has a larger estimate due to the fact that it doesn't rely on self-disclosure...
Heres one of assrats and SLOBs buddies. He'll get what he deserves. He'll have a rude awakening in Hell.
Hasan Karim Akbar (born Mark Fidel Kools, c. 1971) is an African American and Muslim convert from Los Angeles, California. He was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of two fellow soldiers during the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, while he was a U.S. Army soldier with the 101st Airborne, 326th Engineer Battalion.
Well, rk decided to flee with a little irrelevence for us to remember her by...
Are you ten, child? Let me give you a tip: Stating that someone is buddies with a murderer might work for kids in your class, but for adults it barely causes a ripple in our concentration, son...
Try to grow up, boy. Rebelling against your mama by inserting the word "ass" into each post does her a disservice...
assrat, since you're a muslim, you probably on a first name basis with ole Akbar, weren't ya?
Can someone tell Judy that KO's girlfriend is K-A-T-Y not Kathy. Oh I just did.
yaHello....my name is jeff, the talking point republican doll....I support the troops but I sure wouldn't ever be one....Democrats - BAD....Republicans - GOOD....I'm programmed to mutilate the names of all them bad libruls cuz my masters say libruls don't deserve no respect....libruls are traitors....Republicans are patriots....Bush is good....Pelosi is bad....I can't tell you what 'victory' is, but I want it....round up all the Muslems.....win the war with MOABs....yada, yada yada.
"royalking", while clearly and unquestioningly a loyal partisan of the neoconservative movement, has pridefully given himself a chatroom name assuming the title we reserve for the annointed leader of our party. This hubris will be dealt with harshly when the Republican Depatment of Justice finally reaches maturity and the fifth-collumn liberals (75% of Americans) are decisively atended to.
Can someone tell Judy that KO's girlfriend is K-A-T-Y not Kathy. Oh I just did.

Yes, you did. But the question arises; Why?
When there is so much more important material to think about, why do you care?
No wonder all the Olbyloons are out today. The democrats are folding on funding the war and their amnesty bill is circling the bowl. Teddy Kennedy and his buddy El Presidentay George Bush will not be signing any amnesty bill into law anytime soon.
Factor sez: "The democrats are folding on funding the war and their amnesty bill is circling the bowl."
1) - As for the amnesty bill, it is NOT a 'Democratic' bill at all, as much as you would like to think it is. YOUR president, very much a Republican, is leading the charge on that....and it is about the only thing going on in Washington these days that is truely bi-partisan!...So can it the with the "amnesty is a democratic bill" talk....or did you get all that from O'Reilly?
2) - Yes, the war funding is going forward, much to the shame of the O'Reilly's, and all the other hard core supporters - (and fence sitters) - of this war.
Tell me Factor, when the final chapter on our Iraq adventure is written....when another 2000 - 3000 Americans have been killed in order to achieve the very SAME ultimate end result - a Shia dominated society that is anything but a democracy, I want to know if all the hard core supporters who made it possible to continue our lunacy that is the Iraq War will be able to still sleep at night?....Knowing THEY are at least in part responsible for so many additional American deaths that COULD have been prevented?
I say legalize the Mexican Illegals.
They're Christian and part of Western Civilization.
Deport the Muslims!
The Factor: That is not Bill O' Rielly like to call the president of the United States of America "El Presidentay" just because you disagree with a policy. Shame on you.
Mike: We all know what the terrorists want. The libs want the same. Funny, eh?
The Joker: This is not a race issue. Everybody has to come in and out of the nation fairly. Raise the wall against the invaders. Set the standards. Deport the illegals.
RK, you're an idiot. Once again, you've failed to back up what you say, and you run when someone presents you with a counter-argument. And we should be outta there already. They ASKED us to leave. Its officially a nonwilling occupation
And we should be outta there already. They ASKED us to leave. Its officially a nonwilling occupation
Posted by: Nick at May 22, 2007 5:53 PM
That's right. Olbermann said it on his show (or one of his experts did) so that is the way it went down cause Olbermann tells it like it is.
Obama,
It is a race issue, I bet if the 12 Million were Iraish no one say anything.
Why is there such a focus on Hispanics but not Muslims?
It was 19 Muslims not Mexicans that attcked us on 9/11.
Why is it that Muslims are supported but Mexicans attacked?
Kick the Muslims out and let the Mexicans stay!
Nick: "They" are not in charge of the war. George W. Bush is. TheLiberals are so upset over the war that they keep on preventing victory in, and it shows, pal---
Tell me Factor, when the final chapter on our Iraq adventure is written....when another 2000 - 3000 Americans have been killed in order to achieve the very SAME ultimate end result - a Shia dominated society that is anything but a democracy, I want to know if all the hard core supporters who made it possible to continue our lunacy that is the Iraq War will be able to still sleep at night?....Knowing THEY are at least in part responsible for so many additional American deaths that COULD have been prevented?
Posted by: Mike at May 22, 2007 5:14 PM
The blame for any American deaths in Iraq land on the shoulders of you and the defeatocrats for pumping up the enemy with your surrender talk. Every time you and your friend Harry Reid say the war is lost, a terrorist plants another roadside bomb.
No, 6:02, actually the Iraqi Parliment did, that was a nice thought though. Come back again. I wasnt aware that he had talked about that on his show. Prevent victory? Im pretty sure Bush did that from day one when he didnt listen to his general about how many troops he should send in. And now 4 years of mishandling later, he finally decided to give it over to the generals. Oh yeah, he also said that if they asked us to leave, we would...so, yeah, enough said.
Oh yeah, wasnt it the second in command of Al-Qaeda who expressed his thanks and praise that Bush vetoed the bill so we would stay there longer. Im pretty sure he said that he thought it was great so that way he can kill alot more of us at one time in one place. Did they not report about that on Fox? Yeah, he said that, good thing that we're letting the terrorists win by saying we should leave. Damn those terrorists. Ill
The Joker: You just answered your own question. There is a non-correlating consistancy between "hispanic" illegal immigration and "arabic" terrorism because nobody considers the race issue first. It is just that simple.
"Oh yeah, wasnt it the second in command of Al-Qaeda who expressed his thanks and praise that Bush vetoed the bill so we would stay there longer. Im pretty sure he said that he thought it was great so that way he can kill alot more of us at one time in one place." Posted by: Nick at May 22, 2007 6:13 PM
Typical Liberal. Believes what ever Al-Qaeda tells him. I am sure they have our best interest at heart. Did you ever think that Al-Qaeda is saying they want us in Iraq because they really don't want us in Iraq. Sorry lib, I don't think Bush should take advice from people who want to kill us.
Factor, don't give me your damned tired old "surrender talk" talking point again. It's BS and you know it as well as I do.
We screwed up the minute we decided to occupy a country with a totally alien fractured society...and with no coherent plan or justification.
Roadside bombs were being planned and manufactured from day one by a determined enemy who would rather die than be dominated by 'infidels'. They don't give a damn what we we're saying over here...they are not going to give up until they die...and there are many more waiting in line to replace them when they do.
You and your side, who are single handily responsible for causing thousands of additional deaths by continuation of an insane policy with no reasonable chance of success...partially because you can't even define what 'success' is, or how or when we can achieve it.
As for listening to Al Qeada....your side is the one who kept claiming that Al Qeada was telling us who to vote for, especailly before the 2004 election. The Right Wing immorality machine was screaming to high heavens the day before the elections that 'Bin Laden was telling us to vote for John Kerry"....which is a major reason I will probably never trust or vote for a a Republican again...that was as dirty a campaigne as there has ever been.
By the logic you just used replying to Nick at 6:30, we should have done that because, to use your own logic;....."did you ever think that AL-Qaeda was telling us to vote for Kerry because they really didn't want us to vote for Kerry?"..... Again, your own logic, not mine!
Funny...up until this last Al Qaeda tape, your side hung on every word they said...now that you can no longer spin what they said to claim they are favoring the anti-war crowd, you claim they are actually using reverse psychology!
Typical...spin it your way...no matter what is said or happens.
If one reads websites of varying political philosophies or slants, one learns a couple of things very quickly:
Most people who post (and presumably read) are reasonable and do not have a lock-step quality with the philosophy or any particular person.
Each website has a number of extremists who try to inhibit the free exchange of ideas. This website is right-of-center and unusually Republican in its primary orientation. The extremists on this site are right-wingers and Republicans.
If one reads "Eschaton," for example, one finds a number of left-wing extremists, although, oddly, fewer people who are identifiably Democratic. I am not sure I understand that phenomenon. Perhaps, a more catholic world view, but that is beside the point.
The extremists on the right and on the left are of the same general character type: arrogant, strident, dogmatic, foul-tempered, foul-dispositioned, foul-mouthed, lacking in self confidence and less intelligent than the "average" American.
This site has 4-6 people who fit the profile above, perfectly. Everyone can identify these people, and everyone finds them annoying and self-indulgent.
They spend significant periods of time spewing absurdities well out of the mainstream of political thought and contributing nothing of value. They lessen the impact of the philosophy being articulated, to the loss of all of us. I am not conservative, but I find what many conservatives have to say worthy, inspiring and provocative. I find what these people say drivel.
To some extent, those who contribute have an obligation to control the dialogue by ignoring and shunning these extremists. They are marginal, and they should be marginalized.
These remarks are not addressed to the extremists, because it would be a foolish waste to do so.
Mike, Nick, et al: I love you like my luggage, and I agree with much of what you have to say. I am pleased you contribute. However, when you address the extremists, you are engaged in a truly worthless pursuit and are somewhat responsible for enabling the extremists who worsen this site with every response they make. Unlike the extremists who would call you names or say you ought to be exhiled, deported, castrated, tortured ... I simply say consider this but do with it what you may. It is your privilege to do so.
For every war that has ever been fought....by any nation....by any tribe....at any point in history, the warmongers, be they in the right or be they in the wrong, have ALWAYS tried to squelch any opposition by shouting "YOU ARE PUMPING UP THE ENEMY!"
1) - As for the amnesty bill, it is NOT a 'Democratic' bill at all, as much as you would like to think it is.

A. When Ted the murderer Kennedy smiles in celebration, it can't be good news.
Mike: We all know what the terrorists want. The libs want the same. Funny, eh?
