Keith Olbermann explains the Second Amendment but leaves out the part where the "Bill of Rights" is adopted as a check on Federal power as part of an agreement to ratify the U.S. Constitution.
The Preamble to The Bill of RightsCongress of the United States
begun and held at the City of New-York, on
Wednesday the fourth of March, one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine.THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.
underline added for emphasis
Amendment II
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Ah Keith, the constituional expert. What is he next? A meteorologist? Bush causes tornadoes.
Wow, that made me want to get up and join my states "well regulated militia" seperate from the governmant........wait a minute, my state doesnt have a "regulated militia". I gues I am on my own........with my gun.
Olberterrorist explaining the Bill of Rights is like Stalin explaining Capitalism. You can’t explain something you want to trample and destroy. To Keith and the party he supports, the Bill of Rights should be twisted to fit whatever agenda they are pushing.
For more edification of our constitutional rights you might want to check out Chicken Blogger's posts on Countdown May 8 @9:45 AM and then his response @3:37 PM to my comments re his post.
Kieth's take on the constitution is brilliant compared to his acolytes' rendition of constitutional rights.
It appears that if you don't agree with him that it is unconstitutional for all citizens to in any venue to pass judgment on others before the final judicial verdict is rendered than we are a cowardly blight on our great country.
Where do some of these people come from and where do they get their ideas?
Oh, and did I mention that the same Chicken Blogger has already passed judgment on Bush et al in no uncertain terms.

"You can’t explain something you want to trample and destroy."
Well that explains the lack of critical thinking on this website.

No one wants to trample and destroy Olbermann on this blog. Olbermann is a great poster child for the left much like Rosie. His foolishness creates more and more conservatives every day. He disgraced his networks debate coverage along with Screw Ball Chris Mathews. He has help NBC news fall from the top spot in news coverage. He is slowly helping destroy the old dinosaur media better than Fox News ever could.
"No one wants to trample and destroy Olbermann on this blog."
So, what's your definition of 'trample' and 'destroy' as it pertains to this discussion, Factor?
And you, like Cecelia, don't do yourselves any favors shaking the 'groupthink' label with statements like that. No one? Really? How can you be so sure?
Oh yeah, you're all drinking from the same refreshing pitcher of Kool-Aid.
Oh Yeaaaaaaaaah!
LMAO, this quotation the opening sentence and the theme of your comment @ 7:39 PM:
""No one wants to trample and destroy Olbermann on this blog.""
There is no attribution to the author, the place and time it was made. I assumed from that that it was from this thread so I did 'find in this page' search and your quote is not on this thread.
I consider it necessary to have the benefit of any context surrounding the quote before replying.
Thanks,
Grammie
Come on folks. You know what's going on here. Keith can make up anything about The Constitution he wants. This is because all Keith has to do is mention "Bush" and "Constitution" in the same sentence and that will more than enough ammo for his sheeple to start saying "That evil Bush, he's trying to take away our rights". Facts need not apply.
Amen, James!

In Olbermann's case it's that other opinions need not apply.
Olbermann grew up in an era of "liberal enlightenment" via Watergate and his viewpoint has not grown more nuanced with time.
It was humorous, the other night, to hear Olbermann talking like the old Goldwater RNC was the berries as compared to what the RNC is today.
Right. To Olbermann, Goldwater's unmitigated anti-communism stance as contrasted with DNC rhetoric would have been just as fraught with deception as he claims the anti-terrorism stance of the RNC is today.
It would have been Nixonian before there was a Nixon Administration...
That's the real story behind the references to Edward R. Murrow and to John Dean's frequent appearances on Countdown. Other opinions are just more historic RNC political spin to obscure truth and the truth speakers. No debate necessary.
Yet before the debates Olbermann, on Countdown, made sarcastic comments to a tv actor guest about having to be at the Reagan Library --- eye roll.... to cover the Republican debates....another eye roll....
Contrast this attitude with that of another Watergate-era-coming-of-age type-- Chris Matthews, who found the Reagan library fascinating, who loves politics and issues, who has experience working as a staffer for Tip O'Neil, and says he's been to most of the Presidential libraries in the country.
These liberals have made an icon out of the wrong MSNBC host...
