John Gibson was commenting tonight on Chris Matthews when the topic turned to the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann. We have the audio clip for your listening pleasure:

There are also a couple of references to Bathtub Boy in this discussion of The Great Ooga-Booga Controversy.
moron paranoid BUSHWIPES !!
Gibson is wrong about the Fairness Doctrine...KO wouldn't be subjected to it..it's only going to be used to silence Conservatives on the air..thats the only reason Dems want to bring it back.
Chris Matthews brays like an ass
Fox bashing shows little class
Chris from the city
Ranchers take pity
Blue collars won't give him a pass
News, not opinion, for NBC's Williams
by Phil Rosenthal, Chicago Tribune
Williams said he is looking for Keith Olbermann, whose hybrid work as a newscaster-commentator has won a following on NBC cable sister MSNBC, to deliver occasional essays on "Nightly News."
But if Williams himself has had the urge to go Full Metal Olbermann, he has resisted it on the air, saving his commentaries, such as they may be, largely for the privacy of his home.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-thu_phil0531may31,0,504737.column?coll=chi-business-hed
Brian didn't "decide" to start putting Olbermann on, it is part of KO's contract. I do believe Brian has to "ready" his nightly news audience while at the same time put a little distance between Olbermann and himself. Gibson's pretty sharp about media stuff, but he should have done a little research and pointed out the Williams/MSM spin on this. By the way, the article "hooks" one in via baseball. Rosenthal is a big KO supporter from way back. MSM KO lovefest continues...spin Brian spin.
Gibson is incorrect that a renewal of the Fairness Docrtrine (in it's prior form) would require NBC News to provide equal time for opposing views since the Fairness Doctrine didn't apply to news shows or news broadcasts. These programs were exempt from the "balance" requirements in the law.
Hmm, I guess a Limbaugh or Hannity et al. could advertise their radio programs as "news shows" - then read a few straight news items on-air - and then continue with commentary and opinion for the remainder of the show. Could be one way to get away the provisions in the law.
"But what does that aim have to do with permanent bases?"
Umm, let me try: To protect our allies and friends from radical Islamists? To more easily project our forces to protect our interests?
From threats but within and without the region.
You know, al-Qaeda?
The radical Iranians.
Believe it or not, there are evil people in the world who's last name isn't Bush. Or Cheney.
Y'know, this is the same anti-America crap we had to deal with during the Cold War. WE were the cause of the problem. It was OUR actions that were causing frosty relations between us and the Soviets.
The names are changed (and the places); but the same old Chomsky the US-is-imperialist argument holds.
If the US isn't the dominant power in the world, who (or what) will be?
Obviously, if one loathes America as being a racist, fascist, sexist, unjust nation, then one doesn't care who is. As long as it's not America.
And so it goes.
Y'know, the leftwing sure knows how to copy and paste.
They can't put together their OWN arguments. They are (mostly) historically illiterate. They (mostly) know little about military policies or strategies.
Not all, of course. But the wonderful charming lefties who post here.
But, boy they sure can copy and paste stuff.
Congratulations.
The truth is what matter, not who posts what.
Right, scouring the internet for news stories quoting leftwing crackpots is "the truth".
Like the 60% of Democrats who say that Bush knew that 9/11 was going to happen or it's possible he knew.
Why don't you copy-and-past "news" that the Towers were blown up by the Jews or the neocons.
That's the "truth" too, right?
Someone somewhere says something (anything) critical of the Administration.
It's posted somewhere in a news story. Doesn't matter the news organization. Or even if it's a news organization. Could be some interest group.
That, to the left, equals "the truth".
Hey, it's on the internet. It must be true.
Just like they believe Jon Stewart and the Daily Show presents "news".
"I saw it on Stewart! He ran a video clip of Bush saying it!!"
Okay, that's good enough for me.
Geez.
> they sure can copy and paste stuff.
And they don't even bother to paste stuff relevant to the subject. Something about Brian Williams? Chris Matthews? Or even Keith Olbermann? NO! There's no way any of these people can defend the indefensible, so to divert attention away from Olbermann (he IS the focus of this site, by the way), instead we get lengthy cut-and-paste screeds about Crawford TX and Bush.
I guess that's what OlbyLoons need to do. Heaven knows they can't defend the infamous, deplorable Olbermann.
How can you tell the difference between an Olbermann apologist and an Olbermann critic?
The apologist scours the internet looking for bad news about Iraq or the war against radical Islamists.
The critics, on the other hand, searches the internet looking for good news about Iraq or the war against radical Islamists.
The Olbermann critic wants the US to succeed.
The Olbermann apologist wants Bush and the evil Rethuglicans to lose.
Even though - as any sensible person knows - if the evil Republicans lose, the country is harmed.
But to the Olbermann apologist, defeating the evil neocons is far far more important than defeating the Islamists both inside Iraq and elsewhere.
That, of course, doesn't mean - in any way - that the Olbermann apologists want the terrorists to win.
They just want Bushco to lose.
And so, anything anywhere that is "bad" for Bushco is cited. And that's why, the "news anchor" Keith Olbermann of the "news show" Countdown is celebrated by these same people.
He gives them what they want.
Even if it isn't always accurate.
Such is the sad state of American politics circa 2007.
"Tthe best lack all conviction, while the worst / are full of passionate intensity,"
Indeed.
"Marine Cpl. Adam Kokesh had already received an honorable discharge from active duty before he was photographed in March wearing fatigues — with military insignia removed — during a mock patrol with other veterans protesting the Iraq war."
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070602/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/military_protest_hearing;_ylt=AqI4gDmJKBfTNh_RP_CM41Cs0NUE
But now Kokesh is threatened with a dishonorable discharge! His insignia were removed, he was just wearing clothes. But he was speaking the truth and is being persecuted for it. Even the VFW leadership is calling foul; they'd better look out or Bushco will come after them.
"But here's a glaringly obvious one, to start: there just aren't enough military doctors to go around. So many MDs have been deployed to war zones that coverage back home -- for military family members, retirees, and garrisoned troops -- has been spread awfully thin."
http://blog.wired.com/defense/2007/03/like_the_washin.html
Draft cee! Please jon my efforts to get Dr. cee - self-proclaimed medical professional - to enlist in the military to help relieve the stresses being imposed on our troops by a severe, chronic shortage of people with his particular skill-set, namely doctors.
Even he is not really a real doctor -perhaps only an Agape chiropractor or Dominionist faith-healer - his enlistment, and that other able-bodied war-supporters at OW, would allow some of the troops he piously claims to honor to get some relief from their protracted ordeal. Anyone watch 60 minutes last week? - the Iowa National Guard story? All those families strung along on and on with tour extension after tour extension being sprung on them...its tragic.
I'm trying hard to get them and all of their fellows brought home, but that doesn't seem to be working to well, given the intractibility of the president; the slavish devotion to his dictates from his base, and the cowardly disunity of the Democrats.
So I'm asking those of you (particularly Dr. cee) who think this war is great - that its well worth the disruption of military families and the maiming and death of our soldiers -to finally step forward and display the strength of your convictions. Enlist and help to give overdue relief to the troops that you sent into harm's way.
Chicken Blogger, in answer to this claim you make that "99 1/4 % of the Democrats have not said that.", the 'that' being percentage of democrats who believe GWB knew about the 9/11 attacks in advance, here is a Rasmussen Report excerpt for you.
"Friday, May 04, 2007
Democrats in America are evenly divided on the question of whether George W. Bush knew about the 9/11 terrorist attacks in advance. Thirty-five percent (35%) of Democrats believe he did know, 39% say he did not know, and 26% are not sure."
So 61% of Dems either believe GWB knew of the attacks in advance or believe he may have but they are not sure. Only 39% are sure that GWB did not know in advance.
You can slice and dice it any way you want but your 99 1/4% figure is, as you put it:
"Using stupid points don't make you look any smarter."
Couldn't have described you any better myself.
Grammie
Draft cee!
---
Please don't do this. Bush holds our troops in so little respect and regard, he might well do it. I hold our troops in high enough regard that I want them home, home safely, home with their families. If Cee were tending them, it would be the Crimean War all over again. Thousands dying from improper medical care .... SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. KEEP CEE AWAY FROM THEM.
I wish Robert or Johnny would just delete these rambling cut & past posts from anons. I wish we could go back to talking about the focus of the thread...media, spin, Olbermann, etc. Blathering anons please go to Huffington post or some other political blue blog and post this crap...oh yeah, thats right, they don't allow all that cut & paste crap! Robert, help!
Wrong anon, we all know this bush administration sucks & he is THE WORST president ever....It just would be nice to talk about media issues, specifically Olbermann on the Olbermann Watch site, just once in a while, it would be nice if you cut & pasters and stay on topic.
Sometimes Gibson points are valid (or at the very least interesting) the MSM is part of the problem & why we have some of these problems, for both left & right. Doesn't take a whole lot of thought to go cutting & pasting talking points from your favorite websites/blogs.
"We can't CHANGE other countries.
We can only TRY to change our own.
Duh !"
Right, the left is against using American policy to change the policies of other countries? We can only change of own!
Did someone say, South Africa?
Did someone say having the requirement that other countries meet certain human rights standards in order to receive US aid?
Did someone say that we won't trade with other countries unless they meet certain standards (food safety standards et cetera)?
Did someone say that we won't recognize nations that support terrorism?
Did someone say that there are international standards as well as US requirements on a whole host of issues that countries must meet in order to be recognized? (airline safety requirements, worker protection, environmental laws, et cetera).
Furthermore, private citizens organize movements or protests against the policies of other countries - NOT just their own - all the time.
To say that we can only change the policies of THIS country and can't change others is absurd.
Again, I'll cite South Africa as an example.
Olby copies and pastes his "newscasts" from the liberal blogs. His idiotic fans do the same here and then try to pass OPINIONS off as a legitimate news source. They follow their hero Olby's example.
Of course you'd claim that Name, you're one of the offenders here at Owatch, hauling something off of the likes of Huffington Post that is clearly OPINION not news and then half the time not even bothering to source it. The problem is that YOU don't understand the difference between news and opinion and you're clearly aided and abetted by Olbermann who tries to pass off Opinion as News. "Many liberal blogs get their sources from the AP"--yeah, that's pretty much the definition of "gibberish"--but keep posting your swiped "facts" from the Blue Blogs. it makes you look like an even bigger idiot than you already are. No wonder Olbermann's fan base worships him-compared to them the man is a genius. LOL.
More than half of what is posted at Huffington Post is OPINION. Many times they put pieces in their "news" column which lead straight to a radical left blog site which is opinion, thereby, like Olbermann, passing off Opinion as Fact. I've seen the Olbyloons cut and paste these type of stories, often with misleading headlines, that lead straight to sources NOT the AP or Reuters many times here. Once again, the Olbyloons are ticked that I'm calling them out on their tactics and telling the truth they don't want you to know. I'm sure that Olbyloon has carefully picked headlines from Huffington that aren't examples as such but their prior history of doing such things speaks for itself. Talk about being stupid and/or lazy: Olbermann is the textbook definition. No wonder you think he's a genius, you look like a slacker next to him and you're actually stupid enough to believe the tripe that he and Arianna push. I'm rather surprised your here "Name"--shouldn't you be out protesting in the streets in support of Chavez or out raising money for the ACLU to mount a legal defense to the JFK terrorists or something?
"More than half of what is posted at Huffington Post is OPINION."
Some folks here think Stewart's show is also a source for news. Oy. Double oy.
If there's a triple Oy, then let me give out a triple Oy. Oy, oy, oy.
Even though - again - he tells everyone that he engages in fake journalism.
See, he runs actual clips of Bush et. Therefore, it's all straight up and up news. Nothing phony there. All accurate and truthful stuff.
Right. Because, of course, he and his staff wouldn't edit clips or take them out of their proper context.
Nah.
Even though he admits they engage in phony reporting.
But the clips are all 100% accurate and trustworthy according to the Stewart crowd.
Even though he says they aren't!!!!
What to do?
"Please list a better site for information."

Thank God for those conservative males who fight our wars and protect our sores. Bill, Dick, Fred, George, Trent, &c, &c. Oh, I forgot, they had other priorities. "Two bits, four bits ...."
"And....I'll put the Huffpo opinion pieces against any other site on the web.
Their bloggers resumes are very impressive, of which I have posted from time to time. Novelists, screenwriters. . . "
People who deal in FICTION for a living are now credible news sources? Jesus, no wonder you people have no clue about 99.9% of what goes on in this world. Your "news" sources are novelists, screenwriters, comedians, and Keith Olbermann!

You forgot drug addicts and rehab flunkies, i.e. Kennedy.
Countdown's "legal expert" is a disbarred attorney... and a convicted felon! (John Dean)
What a hoot.
below average mexican patty is showing us all what a classless olbyloon he is, again. Are you trying to get banned for a second time? Are they giving away free alcohol at the donkey show today?
No, you're the one who made the ridiculous statement that people who write fiction for a living are credible. Sorry if I just pointed out how utterly ridiculous you are for believing such a thing. That's got to hurt. Here's your statement, one more time:
"And....I'll put the Huffpo opinion pieces against any other site on the web. Their bloggers resumes are very impressive, of which I have posted from time to time. Novelists, screenwriters."
1) They are OPINION.
2) You think that novelists and screenwriters who deal in fiction somehow have valuable opinions on things like politics and war and public policy because you believe they have "impressive" resumes.
There's no misconstruing your statements or beliefs there whatsoever. You just made yourself look like a bigger idiot than you already are for taking these people, who know absolutely nothing about the areas they are commenting on, as serious sources. What's next? Quoting Homer Simpsons as a "reliable source"?
An opinion isn't a news story. This is an opinion piece you've linked to. Gary Hart is also a failed Democratic politican. BTW, do you think he still keeps in touch with Donna Rice? You're really getting desperate now aren't you? But it's just so darn amusing watching you self-destruct because I'm right.
Are you trying to get banned for a second time?

I bet Jeff got beaten up every day a school, whiney, sniveling, snitching little turd that he is.

Brandon: "Gary Hart is also a failed Democratic politician".
The politian in question is a former US Senator and made a strong run for the US Presidency.
When I see people such as Gary Hart who has obviously been very successful charcterized as 'failed', it can only make one wonder about any writer who would make such a ridiculous charcterization.
No, Gary Hart was never President....and THAT makes him a failure?....Someone totally unworthy of respect or admiration? Does this mean that all the rest of us who never become president, by choice or otherwise, are 'failures'?
If Gary hart has 'failed', where exactly does that leave YOU....Brandon?
Let's see, Hart had to admit to having an affair with a woman how many years younger than he was? And it sank his presidential bid. That's not being a success nor is it "making a strong bid" for presidency. Did he even make it to the primary season? I can't remember but he damn sure didn't win the party's nomination nor did he ever become president. You are trying to argue (pathetically but still) that everything on Huffington Post is credible. And then you post an OPINION piece by a former Democratic politician. It's still an opinion and it's an opinion from a biased source. I can only imagine the howling you moonbats would do if I posted an opinion piece by a former GOP presidential candidate/GOP senator.
And dumbass at 4:09p.m--I've stated many times on this blog that I've opposed this war from the very start. I've also stated the war is not going well. But you idiots can't seem to get it through your head that I don't support this war. However I'm realistic enough to know there's no easy exit from Iraq and withdrawal would be a bigger disaster than the war has been. Perhaps if you weren't reading opinions from biased websites, you'd might know that but alas, as long as you think the likes of Huffington Post, Keith Olbermann, and Jon Stewart bring you "the facts", you'll never get it.

Does that mean that Fred, Newt and Rudy are sunk? No, they're Republicans. The more divorces, the more primary votes.
Good day and great thanks.

Suck-up.
Don't forget that Moore highlights Cuba's system as a model for reform. You know, Cuba, headed by a dictator. But the libs never met a dictator they didn't like. If Hitler were around they'd think he was a hell of a guy. Anywho, Moore was taken to the elite hospital where Fidel and friends receive treatment, not where an average citizen can go. But again, Moore and his liberal loving loony fan base don't let facts get in the way of their love for dictators.
