This one is not strictly an article or interview with Olbermann, but he is discussed. It is a profile of Brian Williams, NBC Anchor who vents to the writer, Phil Rosenthal about his personal opinion of the NY Yankees. Then the discussion veered into the propriety of news anchors sharing their opinions with their viewers on-air.
"I think you get one of those a career in my line of work," he said. "[Walter] Cronkite chose to use his chit on the Vietnam War that he witnessed. But I think you only get one."
Hmm. Maybe he needs to clue Keith Olbermann in on the one-opinion limit per career that real news anchors get. Olbermann seems to think he's allowed one with every newscast.
Williams confirms in the article that Olbermann is still expected to do "essays" on Nightly News. But it's been how many months now since Olby signed his new contract deal and he still hasn't shown up yet on the Mothership? What are they waiting for?
Opines the Chicago Trib:
But if Williams himself has had the urge to go Full Metal Olbermann, he has resisted it on the air, saving his commentaries, such as they may be, largely for the privacy of his home."Ask my wife. She's the only one who gets to hear that. I'm not sure it's great," said Williams."
Sounds like Brian Williams is one journalist who understands you don't mix opinions with your job as a news anchor. Now if Olbermann would only get that memo, then perhaps he'd be as well-respected as Williams is.
"Olbermann seems to think he's allowed one with every newscast. "
Every newscast?
Hell, every news story.
It's not like he only injects his own views during the "Special Commentary" section. The entire show is riddled with his biases.
From the selection of guests to the sources he uses to the questions he asks (and doesn't ask).

You're off your meds again aren't you there AAP? Do you realize that your posts are completely unreadable now? I mean, I'm used to the usual Olbyloon blathering but you're beginning to take it to a new level. Someone needs to shoot you up with some tranquiliziers.
AAP's mouth was never potty trained
Or has he rabies on the brain?
He won't debate you by the book
'Cause bathroom talk is his left hook
His life is merely one big stain
This is so textbook from the Olbyloons. The initial post is on a reference to KO in a Brian Williams interview.
What do the Olbyloons respond with? AAP's unintelligible ranting and name calling, and a ridiculously long cut and paste on the Iraq war.
Is it at all possible for you to discuss a topic by actually staying ON TOPIC?
Dangit, posted too soon.
AAP you do realize that OC is not a tranquilizer right? Good try at distraction, but it works so much better if you actually make a point, or at least some sense.
The other day royalking said he wished that a torturing, murdering Al Qeada operative lived next door to me. No big deal - royalking is an anonymous dipshit on the internet who is motivated by racism and supernatural fear.
But here's a statement by the new head of the Arkansas Republican Party, Dennis Milligan, that should give everyone pause:
“At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [Sept. 11, 2001 ], and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country,” Milligan said.
SO "all we need" is more attacks on America, and people will love Bush again. Chilling.
Scott: The answer is no. It is impossible for the average Olbyloon to stay on topic. In every single thread at Olbermannwatch, they have a sworn mission to bring up a) Bush, b) the war, c) any Republican policies or politicans they disagree with. That name Olbermannwatch? That's just a technicality for them as they launch into their off-topic ranting and raving.

I said that because you were and still are defending the terrorists every chance you get. Changing your tune, are you? Are you saying that it's ok for them to be here in the US just as long as they don't live next door to YOU? They're not such a fun loving group of people when they live next door to you?
A brief but loving account of Olbermann's speach at the ACLU:
http://www.truthandprogress.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=370
royalking is a fantastic moron. As stupid as the day is long.
No one defends terrorists - many of us would, in fact, want to see them combatted in a manner that would actually lead to their isolation and erradication as opposed to their proliferation.
Take the recent JFK bombing plot, for instance; can royalking tell me which division of our military was involved in foiling the plot? or where the victorious battle occurred that brought down these conspirators?
trick questions - the plot was defused by LAW ENFORCEMENT. Cops are the only reasonable way to deal with this sort of problem a military approach is worse than useless. Sadly, our law enforcement resources will be stretched very thin in the future dealing with similar cells popping up in reaction to our pointless, expensive, and counterproductive military adventures.
Here's the good stuff, just in case they block the link: (Teens love him and Al Gore will run because of him, what a putz):
Through a miracle of time and space, hubby and I were able to chat with KO right as we and he walked in the door. He's a long tall drink and even more of a thoughtful presence in person than when he's in the little box on my kitchen counter. We chatted about the Red Sox, Truth & Progress, and how the whole family watches "Countdown" every weeknight at 8:00 p.m. on MSNBC. We do! He said he hears that he has quite a following among teens. I thanked him for his recent interview with Al Gore and we discussed the possibility that Gore will make another run. Then he shared a funny story with me. About a year ago after he had wrapped up an interview with Al Gore (AG) he leaned over and said to AG, "So, do you think you'll run again?" AG said, "Should I?" KO said, "yes." Gore said, "OK then." Then KO leaned over to the camera man and said (jokingly), "Camera's still rolling right?" He said Al was suddenly ashen. My only comment after hearing this story was "That would be one valuable piece of B-roll now!" What I wish I said is that it would be incredibly valuable not just for Countdown, but for the rest of the nation.
Says Average American Idiot: "Soon, you moron paranoid BUSHWIPES will be arguing about how many farts K.O. pops in a day.
No. Wait!!
We have Bob (sucking) Cox, Johnny BU$WIPE, EZShiets, etc. doing it daily.
Anything, as remote and phony as it might be, as long as we moron paranoid BUSHWIPES fight Keith Olbermann."

Coming from someone that is posting on a board whose opinion you they not agree with proves you are an immature asshole. Too bad I'm not near you because I'd kick you ass so hard you'd be wearing your anus as a head band.
(Who Do You Care what my name is, bitch), what are you doing for our country besides whining and finger pointing. You are just a typical liberals. You use minorities for their votes, abortion for votes and the war in Iraq for votes. Anyone with your attitude doesn't give a shit for our soldiers. You come from a long line of queers. Your daddy never served and his daddy never served. You are nothing more than a bunch of fags and eunuchs. YOu haven't donated anything for our soldiers or their families. You are just a whiney assed, spoiled little brat.

If anyone ever attacked you they would have to aim for your hind parts because you are a chicken shit. That's a lot of your problem besides being an atheist. You are the one living in fear. The United States could count on some fag like you. YOu've never served. And like Who Cares above, your daddy never served either because look at how you turned out. If he did he probably disowned you. You are just like any other idiot liberal, you won't believe there is a problem until it hits you between the eyes.
I know you don't live in my neighborhood because I haven't seen any pink VW's running around with any Richard Simmons looking fags driving it so you sure as hell aint living in my neck of the woods.
Yes, I have often wondered why Democrats are all to happy to kill the unborn...future Democratic voters. It now seems they have found a way import them thus they do not have to wait the 18 years it takes them to grow up.
HALLE-FRIGGIN-LUJAH!!! I needed to post this SOMEWHERE. William Jefferson IS GOING DOWN!! And if olberdick doesn't cover this NIGHTLY like he does with all the "pseudo-scandels" him and "slippery shuster" are always harping on, he needs to be called on it. What a great day for Republicans. Let see how the MSM covers it.
Who wants to place odds on Olbermann omitting this story from tonight's Countdown?
Brandon,
I, like you, await a responsive answer from the Keith fans to your challenge to place odds on whether their Orange Hero will dare to mention an indictment of a sitting Democrat congressman. Keep in mind Meltdown's wall to wall coverage and predictions of certain indictments for Karl Rove who was NEVER INDICTED! Here we have an actual 16 count indictment against a background of Democrats braying about how they are going to bring an ethical culture back to Congress. Here's the whole story below. I will praise Olbermann as the next Edward R. Murrow if he goes after William Jefferson the way he went after Karl Rove on the fraudulent Valerie Plame matter.

Oh, and remember how Keith said he was going to hammer the Dems as hard as he hammers the GOP? Here's something for Keith to hammer the Dems about but, like the Jefferson story, it will never see the light of day because Orange Boy is a partisan hack.

My first thoughts when I heard about willie. I bet he hasn't reported about David Scott, US Rep from Atlanta who it appeards will be following old willie to the big house.
Last year Olby did a segment on a convention that many conservatives attended. I forget the name. It was the convention where the "bishop" blasted fags and Olby reported how terrible the bishop was. He left out the fact the Bishop was black. That would have taken away from his black viewers because blacks hate fags as musch as I do.

Amen! it is always a great day when a crooked parasite on our political system is brought to account.
But a "great day for Republicans?" Please. This makes you guys about 1 for 15 in terms of current indictments - that's not counting the done-and-gone convictions you guys have going for you: Cunningham, Noe, Ney, Libby, Safavian....
But a "great day for Republicans?" Please. This makes you guys about 1 for 15 in terms of current indictments
The Dems have only been in power 6months and based on the last time they ran Congress it won't take long..Abscam,Keating Five,Jim Wright's bogus book deal,Dan Rostenkowski indictment and so on..even with the MSM avoiding doing storied about corrupt Dems it'll happen they'll get caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
The do-nothing Dems in Congress are too worthless to make a mark at anything. So far they've been nothing but a total failure. And we will remember their weakness in '08.
Brit Hume uses the racist phrase spearchucker to describe John Glenn.
These Fox ...whatever...can't call them newsmen.
Brit Hume called former Senator John Glenn a "partisanspearchucker" ************
Last time I checked Glenn is white.
So?... it's no worse than KO's monkey comments about Chris Wallace or waterboy comments about Alberto Gonzalez and of course the infamous nazi salute.
mlong, the libby's are trying to make something out of nothing. Hence, they got nothing.....
If you don't understand the difference between "spear chucker" and "waterboy" you obviously never played a sport and you have only a passing familiarity with the English language. You're Jeff, aren't you? Um! I'm telling Cox. Now we have three (3) names for Jeff and no telling how many anonymous posts.
Rope a Dope, Cindy Sheehan ran screaming from the Democratic party. Even she sees the light. Your fellow loons are jumping ship. How much more evidence do you need, other than the Dems' record of abysmal failure?
Is anyone watching Kommandant Keith's Konspiracy Korner tonight. He's up to No. 12 in his moonbat diatribe. He must have consulted with Rosie O'Donnell for this latest manifesto in support of his Islamofascist buddies.
No one does the a-v montage better than Olbermann. What a great, powerful presentation of the relationship between trouble in Chez Bush and the terrorism warnings. Pretty hard not to be persuaded by such a presentation. Many, many thanks, Olbermann.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL. That's funny.
Ropeadope, are you reciting the Kos Kidz daily affirmation? I don't hate Democrats; I feel sorry for them. Didn't you elect them to end the war, and they failed? Talk about blind quarterhorses! You're so dramatic.

Didn't you Republicans elect Bush because of his rejection of "nation-building"?
Not that he's actually built anything but a billionaire ruling class in America and a giant human Quisinart in Iraq, but his rhetoric is all "Nation-building".
This debate over Dobbs will be superceded in the days ahead by some other outburst by some other U.S. cable news anchor, such as Fox's Bill O'Reilly or MSNBC's Keith Olbermann.
News anchors---at least in the U.S.---are increasingly revealing their own personal opinions in an effort to "connect" with audiences in this very competitive media environment. This was evident during the coverage of Hurricane Katrina in the southern U.S. when both CNN's Anderson Cooper and NBC's Brian Williams were outspoken in their criticism of the American government's handling of the crisis.

Interesting take on US "news anchors", perhaps Doug would like to check it out and comment. I do love how Olbermann continues to be lumped in with Bill O'Reilly (or vise-versa depending on your pundit of choice).
SLoB, I repeat: Didn't you elect them to end the war, and they failed? Neither you nor ropeadope have answered that question.
