Olbermannwatch needs to create a new category for Olbermann media quotes, one entitled, "He's off his meds again". Howard Kurtz has a quote this morning from the "unbiased" Keith Olbermann who apparently has lost all connection with reality when asked about his ability to be fair and unbiased while hosting the upcoming AFL-CIO Democratic debate, he goes off on one of his tangents where he totally fails to address the question posed to him by Kurtz and instead spews the following:
I realize the far right understands that the pitchmen it turns to in lieu of newscasters could not be trusted to leave their commentary at home, and treat an actual news event as such, but fortunately I'm a journalist who does periodic commentary, and not a snake oil salesman pretending to be an analyst or newsman.
Pitchmen? Hmm. You mean like the many times you held up your book on TV and begged people to buy it (to no avail)? And Olby now thinks he's a journalist? Man you just can't write comedy gold like this!
Don't journalists actually go out into the field and cover news? Has anyone seen Olbermann cover a story from the field like say a hurricane, earthquake, Tsunami, any natural disaster? What's Olbermann's idea of covering a "news" event? Why it's showing up at the publisher of the Harry Potter books last Friday night, dressed in costume! Yeah, I'm sure that if Edward R. Murrow were alive today he'd be right alongside Olby, first in line, wearing a little Harry Potter costume too!
Loons remind one of the dentist. Rinse and spit.
Kurtz and Keffy must be hung-over from the pot, er potter.
"a journalist who does "periodic" commentary"
I am pretty sure his "news" show is 100% commentary. Even a certain olbyloon has admitted this much.
How do these liberals and the loons get away with this kind of reporting? You don't have to be confrontational, but why wouldn't someone do some research on the guy (KO) before interviewing him? Ask Keith if it is unbiased to write and deliver a rant that demands a President 'resign' after commuting the sentence of a staff member. Over the top? YES! Biased? YES! Crazy and baseless? YES! But because these interviewers allow this kind of lunacy to go unchecked, it demeans their whole profession. Ask a question... confront his incorrect statements with facts that show the contrary. Isn't that what the press is supposed to do? Facts bitches- facts!
"I'm a journalist who does periodic commentary,"
Thats is the biggest lie he has every told..his WHOLE program is a commentary there's no balance,no opposing viewpoints it's just the news as KO sees it..but the one thing that comes though now is..MSNBC dose consider Countdown a news program which means they can't hide from the charges of bias now..not after the host admits he's a "journalist" O'Reilly's show is presented as a Opinion show so is Hannity and Colmes and yet there attacked for bias even though they have opposing viewpoints.
One more thing he accuses the "water carriers of the right" as being unable to turn off their commentary well let see KO actually interview a Republican or Conservative that might challenge him and see how quickly he turns off his commentary..plus how can MSNBC have a "newsman" that won't interview Republican or Conservative anyway what kind of BS is that..even Chrissy Matthews interviews people on the right.
Plus...how many "journalist" hand a check on air to a person they interview?...
The problem the left has with Fox News is that the opposing viewpoints are ussualy delivered by lightweights. I have heard many libs lament that Colmes is no match for Hannity. Spare me! Maybe his viewpoints are no match for Hannity's. Thats why lefties often get crushed in the point-counterpoint debates. So why debate when you can just climb on a soapbox and deliver news and commentary that reflects only your point of view? You can just report that it is the correct viewpoint. Hello Al Jazeera!
Benson quote:
"But because these interviewers allow this kind of lunacy to go unchecked, it demeans their whole profession. "

It just shows the bias in the media. Yesterday Reid was on Face the Nation. Reid time and time again referred to Oympia Snow as a smart Republican. I have to give Schaffer credit. He did go after Reid on some of his talking points. He said that the republican guest that follwed would counter his points. I'll be damned after he concludes his interview with Reid, Schaffer says that SNow would be next. Give me a break. I turned it off after 60 seconds. Snow isn;t a republican to begin with.
I don't know why FNC keeps haivng Sharpton on programs. They legitimize this bastard and keep him in the public eye. Sharpton is the biggest asshat and most over rated idiot ever. This guy talks the ost jive shit and couldn't answer a question if his ass depended on it.
Everybody go to the July 20 Comments. Monsieur Royale has cracked up.

That was the most shameless, narcissistic, self-serving event in modern history caught on film.......it should be linked in big headlines on this site and available at all times for viewing.

De ja vu the cafeteria in junior high, right?
"murderer Kenndy"?
Laura, that's a little "pot calling kettle black", don't you think?
You've got at least one dead date racked up on your drunk-driving record in Midland Texas. Glass houses.

Good melange video showing administration lies paired with administration denials. (Olbermann is in it for a couple of seconds, so you all need to watch it or admit you are insipid and weak in your hatred)

Sir Loin,
You are wasting your time with Laura's Box. He only shows up once during the day, usually during his lunch time, and tries to recap and answer to all the posts where he claims to be *right*, again, prior to his lunch break. Notice above, his rant to Benson took him TWO posts, separated 30 minutes apart.
Also, don't expect anything else from Laura but the standard laundry list of LBRULS THIS, LBRULS THAT, and BUSH IS GREAT.
Just FYI.
AAP- interesting analysis.... and probably true of every day.
Benson,
Actually, the credit goes to others, I'm sorry I can't remember who they were first to notice, I'm just passing the info along.

OH MY BAD! I FORGOT!
This is Olbermann Watch!
Not LMAO at the latest public embarrassment from a confirmed moron like:

"It is not essential that a past president, bullied and sandbagged by a monkey [Chris Wallace] posing as a newscaster, finally lashed back."
Why is Keith hosting his own show less and less? Are they phasing him out? Maybe CBS will hire him since he's a "journalist who does periodic commenta..." HAHAHA I almost typed that without laughing.

Oh my! Little Special Agent Royalking. I'm sure this little fascist turd does make frequent "reports" to Homeland Security; and for all I know there are actual government employees running down these leads from such "sources".
The Bush administration has recently claimed that it can detain and freeze the assets of people that it percieves as "hindering the stabilization of Iraq"; and they have made clear (recently in Edelman's letter re: Hillary) that their criteria for such a classification is extremely broad and arbitrary.
But I say nothing here I don't say in letters to legislators and media outlets - and even the White House itself - signed with my own name. So if and when they do "come for me", don;t give yourself too much credit, rk.
My God...the ego...the self-delusion....
Amazing.
"Facially, it finally dawned on me that the person Ken Starr has reminded me of facially all this time was Heinrich Himmler, including the glasses. . . would not there be some sort of comparison to a persecutor as opposed to a prosecutor for Mr. Starr?"

I know; I know. Can you believe this puffed-up little decoder-ring homeguard chickenhawk that calls himself rk?
Man, you guys need to lay off Keith. I am totally down with the way he reports the news. When Keith and Schuster discussed Rove's possible indictments 26 times last year that was good solid staright up objective reporting.
I like the way Keith reports the news too
slob, I am pretty sure that post (5:50) was directed to you, not me.
" . . . but fortunately I'm a journalist who does periodic commentary, and not a snake oil salesman pretending to be an analyst or newsman."
The rest of the interview . . .
Q: But Mr. Olbermann, how can you claim to be a "journalist" when your nightly "newscasts" are simply one sided attacks on anyone who does not agree with your liberal politics?
A: 'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty Olbermann said, in a rather scornful tone,' it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less.'
"fortunately I'm a journalist who does periodic commentary"
Periodic? I think the appropriate term is constant.
>O'Reilly's show is presented as a Opinion show
Oh Really?
Then why does O'Reilly repeatedly say (inlcuding on a promo clip) 'We use facts here, nothing but facts...'
Sounds like the 'Go Spin Zone' to me!
LMFAO
Fox labels O'Reilly's show as News-Opinion. MSNBC labels Olbermann's show as NEWS. See the difference there Nazi?
Oh my. Olby finally apologized for the Vitter ho story. I wonder which blue blog urged him to apologize. I have my doubts that he did it out of the goodness of his heart.
Pundit shows are serious business.
Do you watch CD hunched over, furrowing your brow, waiting to get angry?
I kinda fixed my problem with not liking O'Reilly's awful show by just not watching it.
Go watch the Daily Show and Colbert report.
Liberals and Democrats would be more convincing if they were'nt such awful, hateful, lying bastards.
Cheney Confused Iraq POW Jessica Lynch With Jessica Simpson.
He once confused Jessica Simpson with Jessica Lynch. Hayes details how, when the vice president threw out the first pitch before a 2003 game between the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs, Cheney was first informed that “Nick Lachey — a native of Cincinnati — would sing the national anthem before the game and would be accompanied by his girlfriend, Jessica Simpson. Cheney thought Simpson’s name sounded familiar. He asked his staff: ‘Is that the soldier who was captured in Iraq?’ ” (That would be Jessica Lynch).

Sure, I see the difference...
One is a show where the host says 'We use facts here, only facts' even though it's obvious to anyone who's completed the second grade, the host is offering up heaping helpings of his own conservative agenda.
You want to get all hot and bothered with MSNBC labeling Countdown as news (which it isn't) while Fox can call itself 'Fair and Balanced' with a straight face? I'm glad Fox exists, I watch it, but fair and balanced it ain't!
It's hypocritical and plainly partisan when you get hot and bothered about one and not the other.
Each show / network can be as partisan as it wants to be, but when you repeatedly rail against one and not the other, you reveal your plainly petty partisanship.
Great Thanks Brandon!

It's because one at least has a guest of a differing opinion on the air, and the other only has guests who agree with the host.
You can wax eloquent until your strawmen come home, about how O'Reilly treats them, about how astute the dissenters are, etc.... the fact is that they are able to give their side.
Olbermann's first segment tonight was about a book from a conservative author-- who I'm sure would be more than happy to plug the book--- who somehow didn't make on the show in order to talk about his book (quoted in text on screen).

Sounds like a "fawning" in a round about way of Olbermahn, to me. Indeed.
Answer this question--if Olbermann runs a news show then why has he never been to a hurricane, a earthquake, a tsunami, out of the country to cover a story, say like a WAR, like almost every single other anchor or ANY of the cable news networks has?
Oh my. Olby finally apologized for the Vitter ho story. I wonder which blue blog urged him to apologize. I have my doubts that he did it out of the goodness of his heart.

Screw Mrs. Vitter. She opened her trap for purely politcial purposes; suggesting she was a more virtuous woman than Hillary because SHE would have cut off her husband's penis had he cheated on her. Well, her low-life diaper-jonesing hubby called her bluff and she folded like a pre-moistened baby-wipe.
...not that I actually think she should cut Vitter's dick off - but a metaphor used n such contexts has SOME meaning; and I don;t think its "stand by your man in total forgiveness and understanding": that's the very position she was slamming Hillary for in the very public political arena.
That said; "ho" was pobably innapropriate. "Political hack prop-wife" wold have been more like it.

I have often repeated the truism: There is no accounting for taste or the lack thereof.
Another truism:
I takes a lot of money to look that cheap.
We have certainly (re)proven those of late.

To be fair and balanced, as always I am: I did not care for Senator Clinton's jacket last night. The style, texture and color made her appear a bit frivolous. What is wrong with a pearl gray silk blouse, with an emerald-cut ruby droplet and a black pleated skirt?
