Nikki Finke at LA Weekly had a post last month on new NBC Entertainment boss Ben Silverman and his liberal politics, which included wondering how parent company GE would take a network exec with so open a bias. However, given what GE has allowed NBC News execs to do with "Countdown" in particular and MSNBC in general, it's hard to imagine anyone at the parent company either cares or is paying attention, since it doesn't seem as if anyone involved sees the blurring of news and opinion as a problem.

But Gibson is right -- NBC sooner or later is going to have to decide whether or not "Countdown" is officially an advocacy show, like O'Reilly or Hannity & Colmes, or whether it's a news show. Unless Keith goes totally off his meds and calls for the assassination of Bush or Cheney, that's not going to happen before the 2008 election (though if Giuliani is elected, that might be enough to send Olby completely off the dock), but should Hillary get in and not follow the MoveOn/Daily Kos/My DD playbook as president and come under attack for it, both Olbermann and NBC will be facing a wonderful dilemma of their own making -- Keith can either continue to be the Howard Beale of the left or the mouthpiece of the Clinton II administration.

I've noticed quite a few double and triple posts. I have been trying to post a comment on another thread and can't get to go through.

It is quite long and I don't want to keep repeating the post and refresh a few times cycle more than three times and then have it appear multiple times.

If this goes through I hope someone could let me know how to get around whatever is causing the problem.

There appears to be another attack in progress on Olbermann Watch. At some blue blogs (like DailyKos) people have been told to bombard this site, and today there are so many simultaneous connections that the response has slowed to a crawl.

Mr Cox is aware of this attempt to silence free speech, and has some highly proactive actions in mind vis-a-vis the 1st Amendment terrorists who are trying to silence this site.

What was happening to me this morning is I would post and then go into this continuous loop of reposting. There was no particular sign this was happening until I began to look at the progress bar. When I noticed this, I began to try to close the window, but it seemed to be taking a long time to do it.

I checked the system at the office, as well as at home, and neither seemed to be having this problem. However, last year we had IP address in the Orient which had actually hacked into our system and was using it to e-mail the same sort of little porno snaps this site is getting. Of course, we also received many of them.

The blue blog website conspiracy theory is a bit far-fetched. Same thing happens on their sites from time-to-time. More likely one (of the surprisingly few) FRW sexual perverts who posts "infected" you. Hopefully, contributors/posters are running scans on their own systems periodically to insure they are not diseased and transmitting viruses.

Good luck repairing or fixing. It can be a nightmare.

Yes we are being attacked by a bot. It's blocked temporarily but I expect it to find another door and get its way in again.

You make think the conspiracy angle is far-fetched, but you can't see what we can see. Including one of our regular posters, of the Olbyloon persuasion, who, like Scooter Libby, said just a bit too much, and revealed what looks like preknowledge of the effects of this particular attack.

Or tellling lies about your competitor by stating that he "supports Nazis" and then publicly flashing the "Seig Heil" sign at a broadcasters event, earning a well deserved letter of reprimand from the Anti-Defamation League. Or comparing a special prosecutor acting under the mandate of a Democrat Attorney General to Heinrich Himmler, founder and officer in charge of the Nazi concentration camps, resulting in the deaths of millions of people. Or referring to a prominent Fox Sunday morning talk show host as a "monkey". And on and on.

Olbermann is the left wing equivalent of late 80's right wing chain smoking bellower Morton Downey Jr. His act eventually became so tiresome and predictable that even those who agreed with some of the things he had to say just turned him off because he was, in the end, just a gas bag, filled with hate. Olbermann is a somewhat slicker version of MD Jr. He doesn't chain smoke, has obviously spent a few more bucks on his wardrobe and Ashleigh Banfield look-alike specs, the set has a few more bells and whistles, and he does visit the spray tan salon. Otherwise, Olbermann is a slighlty lower decibel Morton Downey, Jr. In some ways, he is much more pathetic than Downey, Jr. in that MD, Jr., in the years after his show, often cracked wise about the intentional outrageousness of the show, the circus like quality that he strived to achieve and candidly admitted that he was not a serious purveyor of the news of the day but a mere showman in it for the stardom and fame.

This, of course, is a perfect description of Olbermann, a certifed character disordered narcissist. Why on God's green earth that the libs genuflect to a person of such rotten character is beyond me. Maybe it is because, like moths drawn to a flame, they identify and find kinship with, the obvious feelings of insecurity and inferiority that Olbermann displays on a continuous basis (and which his bellicose manner barely conceals).
