Oh, and the question about why O'Reilly and Hannity haven't been "asked" to host a debate? Simple. They are commentators and appropriately label themselves as such. Perhaps Olby should quit trying to be a newsman as he is failing miserably at that and just go with commentator. It certainly seems as debate moderator is over his head.

The key demographic and the total ratings numbers trailed Fox's programming....the debate did not draw as well as the others, with the same format, the same time of year and the same candidates. The only difference was the host, the location and (big deal) the organization sponsoring the event. Keith Olbermann has a narrow, ideological fan base which he cannot expand because he has voiced his bias and intent and most normal people do not want their journalism from a shill of a particular political party. Some people like Olbermann's bit for the assurance it gives them in their choice of politics, but the independent, free-thinking person would rather watch something else.

The same mentality of people who like Olbermann like Limbaugh.....the only difference in the fan is the ideology. There are huge differences in the two men.....like the fact Limbaugh is much more successful.

And my opinion of Keith Olbermann's personality deficiencies is exactly that, my opinion. His obvious self promotion and thin skin was once again shown in his WPITW choice of Gibson. Always tit-for-tat with the sensitive Olbermann and it shows someone not very secure in who they are and a need to be "accepted."

They don't all suck. In my state of Ohio they only suck in economically depressed communities in which the tax base is low, because the state funds its education system via the free-market paradigm of property values and tax base. Some of the best schools in the state are public schools located in the wealthiest suburban communities. The poor are left to fend for themselves - is this the "level playing field" you jokers are always crowing about?

This system, by the way , has been declared unconstitutional by the State supreme court, but the Republican state legislature has done nothing to fix it.

However, we do need to remove the insurance company leeches from the system who's sole function is to act as a gatekeeper who'd interest is in direct opposition to the public good. Where else in in a capatalist mold are those who need services the most become the very ones who become excluded?

There are many estimates of the cost of the leech-like insurance parasites on our healthcare system, and those estimate do vary. But it is too high in every case, and that money could better be used to make a system that services EVERYBODY more efficient.

Our system is like it is only because it has evolved that way in a somewhat haphazrd manner. The bulk of the burden lies on private employers who themselves are being relentlessly squeezed into dropping benefits.

Many who are presently insured are only fooling themselves if they derive much of a feeling of security from that. It could and often is gone in a flash when they need it the most. The last I checked, more than 50% of personal bankruptsies in America were caused by medical expenses....and most of these unfortunate folks WERE insured when the crisis began.

For those who profess to believe in the American dream, have you ever thought about how many Americans feel trapped in a dead end job simply to maintain insurance benefits that would go away if they tried to start their own business? How much entrepreneurial spirit are we supressing because of this one factor alone?

We can do FAR better than we are doing, and those who want to do nothing strike me as just plain selfish.

Are Republican women as generous with fellatio as their husbands are? If so, that could prove a real strength for the party.

I dont disagree with alot of what you write there Mike, the only question I ask is as the father of a special needs son, what makes you in essence think socialized medicine would make the entire system as a whole better? I dont need or have the time to get on a waiting list to wait for this or that doctor, I need specialists all the time

But professional medical care, the education of ourselves and our children, and the maintenance of a basic level of economic stability for the working and non-working poor are concerns that efect the entire society to such a salient degree that they cannot be left to Madison Avenue and Wall Street. Money spent in the maintanence of these area is what "lifts all boats", not pandering to amoral corporations bent on wringing profits from these matters.

RK's Club for Growth link does seem pretty straight-forward, however I do have some skepticism of it coming from a single-source and a lobby group [like anon 1033 rudely suggests]. Fortunately, there are several other sites to give support to the CFG's numbers while adding context, comparing this year's pork-o-rama to the last few years.
