Host: Keith Olbermann
After an overcooked Olympics promo, Keith the Debate Star bellowed the opening spiel: the "woodstock" of debates (good old Mr Humility), a blue-dress interview with Joe Biden (D), Barry Bonds, Britney Spears, and more. Will this Hour of Spin be as dreadful and predictable as it sounds? We're putting our money on "yes"--but watch for a great moment when Bathtub Boy inadvertently proves Olbermann Watch to have been correct all along. Onward with the recap, including two special bonus media clips.
#5: The spectacular, marvelous, debate. It was the ultimate, the Everest of debates. Copious clips and Lefty Alter. Obama on the defensive, a possible Hillary faux pas ("you shouldn't say what you think"). Herr Olbermann all but crowed about a clever question he asked Obama, and they both took a shot at Barack for dodging a question. Olby gushed over Hillary ("that's a hell of a quote") and--surprise!--Lefty agreed. Is that check Oralmann handed over to Bill still having its effect? Olby again cites "that question I asked"! Praise for Kucinich, though no great optimism for The Elf Lord's chances.
Needless to say, not everyone was all agog over the wondrous Merkle-led Dem forum last night. So here is something that is never allowed on OlbyPlanet--a different point of view:
#4: Ooh, the much-anticipated "in depth" interview with Joe Biden. Isn't that sort of like a scholarly analysis of Beetle Bailey? Of course, Edward R Olbermann was armed with another passel of his patented hard-hitting, take-no-prisoners interrogatories:
Great thanks. Incidentally, Biden's appearance means that another entry has been added to the most extraordinary roster of guests to be found on any "newscast". But don't take our word for it; see The List for yourself.
#3: Barry Bonds (What? No Special Education Komment?) #2: Space Shuttle, Ana Nicole Smith. Britney Spears. In the Media Matters Minute, once again Krazy Keith managed to find fault only with people to the right of Bernie Sanders. Lindsay Graham (R), plus "unthinking toady [Olbersaurus!] water carrier" Robert Novak (conservative) with an "under the bus" reference [Ding!] for good measure. But the "worst person" was John Gibson of "Fox Noise" [Ding!]. The source wasn't a Blue Blog at all; Olby is too cowardly to admit it, but he got the story from right here at Olbermann Watch! Aside from another Olbermann lie (that Roger Ailes is running Giuliani's campaign), the segment was noteworthy because Oralmann didn't even attempt to deny that he helped the Kossacks raise money for their cause. In other words, our exclusive report was right on the money, and has now been confirmed by "Man on Fan" Olbermann himself. You read it here first!
And you heard this here first too. Instant reaction to being named "worst person" from John Gibson himself:
Olbermann's book The book that bears Olbermann's name sinks further into irrelevancy at #38,567 at amazon.com, while "Culture Warrior" is #2,692. (It's that 2-for-$25 sale!) The OlbyTome remains mired below the ranking radar at Barnes & Noble; O'Reilly's book is #1,413 there, and is one of the top five books of 2006 per Publishers Weekly. The much-hyped Bathtub Boy Debate didn't exactly set the world on fire. Once again, he lost overwhelmingly to his arch-nemesis not just among all viewers, but also in the coveted, all-important, much-beloved, critical "key demo". Tonight's MisterMeter reading: 2 [LOW]
