When Keith Oralmann named John Gibson "worst person" on Tuesday, we brought you Gibson's instant reaction. On his radio program Wednesday, Gibby had some further thoughts about Bathtub Boy, plus comments on Jon Stewart and Olby's Research Department, aka Media Matters. We have the audio for your listening pleasure:
Hey, Johnny - why don't you play the original Gibson clip that has caught him so much flack? Could it be that you realize that you cannot possibly defend it? Go Ahead, put it up there, the audio of Gibson and his stooge ridiculing the personal grief of someone undergoing personal and national tragedy.
The clip you do supply, however, is hardly more effective for your position. Gibson;s defense is that someone who was emotionally stricken on that day could not possibly have any disagreement with Bush ever, on any issue; and that's just not rational.
There's a "war on Gibson" Gibson whines; and a a war on Gibson equates with a war on Bush, and that makes you a terrorist.
Now where did I put my Trash-bin of History? - 'cause that's where you people are going - and hopefully before you pull the whole country along with you.

Here is a link with Gibson and his little troll ridiculing Stewart. Its "Media Mater", so be careful not to read anything when you go there - just play the audio. The attack on Stewart begins halfway through, after a conversation with a Gibson-idolizing caller (which one of you retards was that?).
Looks like you answered your own stupid question, SLoB. Why post something that's already available all over? As for Stewart, you apparently think he has achieved Mother Theresa status. He is not to be ridiculed or mocked, just like the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann. Do you really believe that Stewart is so fragile? That he can dish it out but can't take it? He's the LAST person who should complain about being made fun of.
Good point Dollar, Stewart definitly can take care of himself, and the only mention he's made on his show in regard to the incident was an off-hand remark he made to Cheney sycophant Steven Hayes last night when he referred breifly to "some idiots at Fox" ridiculing his 9/12 reaction.
So, to adopt your paradigm, why are you so protective of Poor, Maligned Gibson? or poor O'Reilly?, and why are they so protective of the precious buttercup Bush? Are Repubicans all wilting, seeping pussies?
"Looks like you answered your own stupid question, SLoB. Why post something that's already available all over?"
Like your retards ever so to the vilified "Media Matters". Please - you presented one side of the story; and a shoddy, honorless one at that.
> why are you so protective of Poor, Maligned Gibson? or poor O'Reilly?
This site is about Olbermann. When Oralmann attacks them, lies about them, or smears them, we cover it. When Gibson responds to the carrot-complexioned commentator, we cover that too.
> Like your retards ever so to the vilified "Media Matters".
Huh? Can you repeat that, only in English?
Like your retards ever GO to the vilified "Media Matters".
Grasping at straws, Johnny? Nothing beats a fortuitous typo to deflect a painful question.
> Like your retards ever so to the vilified "Media Matters".
Huh? Can you repeat that, only in English?
I was scratching my head on that one too!
I think you're expecting waaaaay too much of three dollar bill, Sir Loin...
After all, he's NOT a political writer.
He only writes about lies. Which is why he has a blog about Fox News. Might as well start with the biggest offenders.
Oh wait, that's right, he DEFENDS fox's right to lie....
And that would make him not only a political writer, but it would also make him a hypocritical partisan hack.
And that sound you hear is the stripped gears in johnny's head trying to come up with a way to 'spin' his defense of fox and attacks on Olbermann to seem 'non-partisan.'
Sorry, fraud, keep spinning....
> Like your retards ever so to the vilified "Media Matters".

Replace the 's' in so with a g (as in go) and suddenly it will all make sense.
Right Wingers are go dense you have to lay it out for them...
"This site is about Olbermann. When Oralmann attacks them, lies about them, or smears them, we cover it. When Gibson responds to the carrot-complexioned commentator, we cover that too."
...but only to the degree that you menton Olbermann's comments and say "look what he said!" Forget about real discussion or presentation of relevant background - like the slimy perfprmance of Gibson ridiculing Stewart, which is what Olbermann was commenting on.
Come on, $, this isn't just "Olbermannwatch" (your favorite dodge of criticisms of your sloppy commentary)- it's also:

Throw out an idiotic statement and then defend it.
Sweet. You loons have no shame and even less brain cells.
so fuck yourselves
Ouch,
it's what these idiots do best...
make dumb posts and defend them endlessly.
it is fun to watch.
JD, you have a thankless job playing babysitter for these idiots. Keep it up.

Somebody please listen to the Gibson audio and tell me that Gibson doesn't love Bush, but hates America.
Gibson is a pussy. Claiming in the clip posted above by Dollar that he might be invited on Stewart's show again, but he wouldn't go because he'd be "ambushed". He's been on the Daily show before, and was treated with the same high degree of respect and decorum tat Stewart extends even to such low-lifes as Bill Kristol.
He will not appear again because he has no honor; only an moist erogenous yearning to be in Bush's good graces.
it is fun to watch.
Posted by: Average American Patriot at August 16, 2007 2:50 PM
It's much more entertaining to watch you spolbyloons defend, or try to defend the orange faced prick licker. Ironically no one has succeeded at it, yet. Not once. The super loons go as far to say the orange faced prick licker has never lied, that's comedy gold, right there.
Oh no, Padilla was found guilty! Now the posts will turn to sympathetic ramblings about the terrorist's plight in such a racist and oppressive society that is Bush's United States!
Oh, I can't wait for the same indignant tone Olbermann had for Gibson's shot at Stewart's 9/11 tears.....Oh how the left is so hypocritical.....they make fun of President Bush's cool and collected response in front of school children while John Stewart's emotional breakdown is acceptable.
Oh the humanity! The compassion!
"they make fun of President Bush's cool and collected response in front of school children while John Stewart's emotional breakdown is acceptable."
You're just fishing for ridicule, aren't you cee? Have you seen the footage of your dumbfuck fetish president sitting there in the midst of his fellow paste-eaters? That wasn't "cool" - it was sub-functional. There wasn't a move from the fool for 10 minutes after the SECOND PLANE HIT!
...but then again, at the very same time his dad, GHW Bush, was enjoying brunch with Osama bin Laden's half-brother, Shafiq bin Laden, at the Carlysle Group's headquarters. Perhaps George knew something through Poppy, and knew that any sort of action on his part would have been irrelevant...and he just had to know what happens to that pesky little goat
Rumor has it that Olbermann asked for tonight off to mourn the verdict.
Stewarts's 9-11 tears and Bush's unflinching reaction! Neither needs your disdain. Its pathetic.
Oh Sir Loin I hear the Twilight Zone music while I read your post....Oh yeah, inside job on 9/11, Bush knew all about it, got those Bin Ladens out of the country tout suit.....
I see, ridicule for Bush, none for the sainted John Stewart....Yeah Loin, you are a bright one. You see the contradiction here?
No Loin, I see someone not acting like a fool, being calm in front of small children who are more than happy not being informed that the country was just attacked by crashing commerical jet liners. Small children deserve to get this information is a nicer way from a teacher, principal or their parents in terms they will understand and will not cause fear and angst. The stuuuuupid president simply finished exactly what he was planning on doing....reading a book to children. What a whacko!
You have watched Moore's hatchet job too many times and have lost any normal human perspective, my dear deluded Sir Loin of Milquetoast. Hatred also contributes to such cognitive deficiencies.
Cue Twilight Zone music....oh Loin, don't forget about those slimy Jews who put the explosives in the WTC....your socialist brother, blindrat reminded me that your ilk's ideology and religion are "two peas in a pod."
Oh the humanity! The compassion!
Posted by: cee at August 16, 2007 3:39 PM
...and what about Bush's characterization in his press conferrence last week of the 9/11 highjackers as "19 kids lured onto airplanes"? That's not bleeding-heart compassion? Find me one instance of so much sappy compassion being heaped on these murderers by anyone on the left.
I suspect pressure from Bush's (and our) Saudi creditors is causing him to soften his line in this regard.
"No Loin, I see someone not acting like a fool, being calm in front of small children who are more than happy not being informed that the country was just attacked by crashing commerical jet liners. Small children deserve to get this information is a nicer way from a teacher, principal or their parents in terms they will understand and will not cause fear and angst. The stuuuuupid president simply finished exactly what he was planning on doing....reading a book to children. What a whacko!"
...but what about all of Bush's subsequent ghost stories about "lurking killers" who "kill" and attempt to influence events through "lurking and killing"? And wat about all of his revivals of the specter of thermo-nuclear attacks from unarmed, impotent Saddam? Did Bush ensure that these poor kids- upon who's peace-of-mind you see Bush's foreign policy as hinging - would be away from the TV when he issued all these broad admonitions to witless fear?
You are a fool who will say anything to defend your fetish/president. Find some honor, worm.
cee,
stop trying to reason with SLOB... he only deals in slander and name calling, you worm!
Sir Loin of Milquetoast,
Didn't you hear about Bush's book.....
"My Pet Goat was a Suicide Bomber?"
You see Loin, the neocons' plot is to indoctrinate these defenseless children to become cogs in the giant MIC.....my two year old is already siged up.....he's goat 1st class....
Anyway, Bush, like us fundy flat-earthers and those Slimy Jews, wants to get 'em while they are young so this will be the plan.....
Oooops, I said too much!
cee, if you are sincere - which is logially impossible - then where is your condemnation of the heartless display by Gibson that started this whole matter?
"You see Loin, the neocons' plot is to indoctrinate these defenseless children to become cogs in the giant MIC.....my two year old is already siged up.....he's goat 1st class...."
You are a liar, cee. You would never sacrifice anything of your own to the causes you promulgate - and your fetish/president, in return, would never ask you to.

Of course, by the time 9/11 rolled around, President Bush was convinced that his cabal of neocons could mastermind the collapse of the towers without detection or consequences. Karl Rove was an old hand at this sort of nefarious trick, having extended his evil tentacles to pull in his contacts with the Council on Foreign Relations, the Freemasons and the Skull and Bones Society to rig the 2000 election and steal it from Al Gore. So, hey, if you can steal 5 votes on the Supreme Court, how hard can it be to to engineer the destruction of the towers to provide an excuse to blow Iraq bacxk to the Dark Ages?
Keeping the lid on this project would be the tricky part. Thousands of contractors and bureaucrats would have to be complicit to carry this off and their silence would have to be assured to avoid having this secret slip into the media. Fortunately, Karl Rove knew just where to apply pressure to make sure the media didn't find out. The long relationship between the Carlyle Group and Bush provided the perfect solution. With its untold wealth, underwritten by the Bush family, Carlyle would simply pay off everybody to keep quiet. Of course, the breakfast meeting at the Carlyle Group's headquarters between Bush Sr. and bin Laden's half-brother was set up to discuss payments to all involved in this evil conspiracy. And, of course, with the hubris of the Bush famly approaching Nazi-like megalomaniacal proportions, the meeting was held out in the open-- no need to meet in secret, let people speculate as they will.
At this point, the only remaining task was to warn Bush's friends the Jews to get out ahead of time. Again Rove implemented a strategy through his underground contacts to spare the lives of the Jews while innocent women, children and famlies were burned alive.
Bush is worse than Hitler.

benson, the person you are rebuking is on your side, trying through satire (which , as we've just seen through the cancellation of Fox's attempt at a "Daily SHow" knock-off - does not work well for righties) to call me a "conspiracy theorist" - and to point out how ridiculous it would be to suggest that powerful, un-regulated cabals might concoct horrible schemes to rea trillions of dllars of profit and incalculable levels of power from a nation of distracted sheep.
"I am a heartless, cowardly, fundamentalist, flat-earth, corporatist neocon, don't you see?"
This point of agreement in hand, I say farewell.
cee, if you are sincere - which is logially impossible - then where is your condemnation of the heartless display by Gibson that started this whole matter?

I couldn't care less about a media quarrel between John Gibson and Keith Olbermann involving the talentless John Stewart. I only commented after I read through the posts and saw your shrill reaction.....You baited me Loin, I just can't resist your charms!
But I'll give, Loin......Johnny $ how dare you post Gibson's explaination.....Gibson was wrong to make fun of Stewart.....he's a nice man!
Slimy Jews, stuuuuupid fundy flat-earthers!
This point of agreement in hand, I say farewell.

Bye, Sir Loin of Milquetoast! Don't forget what I told you....I mean forget what I told you...The conspiracy is a secret.

Keith Olbermann is "the biggest offender in the purposeful, willful, misinterpretation-for-effect department".

Well, I never meant to convey the idea that you were being "ridiculous"-- psychotic, paranoid, hate-driven to the point of being delusionally obssessed, brain damaged, or maybe insane, but not ridiculous. Pardon me for conveying any message to you that I did not intend.

Last Throes Redux
by BarbinMD
Thu Aug 16, 2007 at 12:46:34 PM PDT
If there is any doubt remaining that the September report from Gen. David Patraeus will be anything but a whitewash, take a look at how one of Bush's commanders on the ground manages to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear in an article about the dramatically increasing risk to our troops from house bombs, "where soldiers are lured into a house rigged to explode":
Officials attribute the increasingly sophisticated attacks to desperation on the insurgents' part after troops became too successful at finding roadside bombs and other explosives.
"It's a clear sign that they could not get to us by other means, and that's a good sign," said Lt. Col. Michael Donnelly, a spokesman for the American operation in northern Iraq, describing the pattern of house bombs in that area. "Obviously we're countering the improvised explosive devices, and force on force, they know that they can't fight us." [...]
"There is no question that there is still a serious threat," Donnelly said. "But the gains we have made are tremendous. In the end, we will win, and they will be marginalized and pushed out."
From the kos poster: "Yes, one might even say that the insurgency is in its last throes."
###
Oh they do enjoy the success expressed by the soldiers on the ground......The left just is so happy at the optimism displayed by people who are actually there in Iraq, fighting the terrorists.
Mike? Blindrat? Why? Sir Loin of Milquetoast? Anyone?......Do we want the IED's to be successful so you leftists have your domestic political victory?
Tsk, tsk, tsk

Watching O' Reilly sneak up behind the orange faced freak on his hands and knees and have Gibson push him back-wards
OR
See a Geico caveman walk up to bathtub boy and say "watch the birdie" then kick him right in the nuts?
"Watching O' Reilly sneak up behind the orange faced freak on his hands and knees and have Gibson push him back-wards "
I'm not sure how funny it would be, but it sure would be in character for those two cocksuckers.
"Watching O' Reilly sneak up behind the orange faced freak on his hands and knees and have Gibson push him back-wards "
- and not a very credible scenario, either. That galoot O'Reilly can't even sneak up on his own pecker when he's spanking it on the phone.
What would be REALLY funny is if Olbermann were questioned about his objectivity and replied by saying that
"I’m a journalist who does periodic commentary, and not a snake oil salesman pretending to be an analyst or newsman.”
THAT would be be really funny, let me know if you find out that Olbermann ever claims that . . . oh wait a minute, Orange Boy's already got that one covered. HOHOHOHAHaHaHA . . . Whoo boy, ain't that rich!

Oh, speaking of funny, how about this one. Olbermann is being interviewed by Sports Illustrated and in response to the question, 'Who was the most difficult athlete' with which he had to deal, Olbermann says:
"I have never gotten a pie in the face or someone swearing at me. I have heard from others there have been players that have thought about it but when they see -- I am their height or bigger -- they decide maybe this confrontation is not really worth it."

See, betcha' didn't know Keith was such a bad-ass who can take out the most finely conditioned professional athletes in the world as well as a journalist who only perioidically does comment!
Sir Loin of Beef is on here so much that I'm assuming he has no job. Am I close Beef Stick??
OK Meat, I will put you down for the "playground pushover".
I am going for the (in freakie Kethie's case) "spinning" round house "caveman nut kick"
Chear up Meat.... your hero is warming up in the bull pen...err...tub and will prance onto the stage shortly for another titillating torrent of tenacious transgressions.
...but would Gibson be yelling "we NEED another 9/11!" like he ended his radio attack on Stewart with? That would really make it funny.
So tell me Olbersessed NeoCon Right Wing Whack-Jobs....
Why is it when Olby feels a need to respond to Gibson, it shows his thin skin and petty tit-for-tat nature....
But when Gibson feels a need to respond to Olby, he's sticking up for himself, fighting the good fight, and putting Olbermann in his place?
Oh yeah, because you guys are pandering petty pouting partisan hacks.
I keep giving you guys the benefit of the doubt, but you keep making me regret doing so.
Great Thanks!

Yes, you are. I have several highly-compensated occupations, but no "job" per se.
No, Hank, I didn't know that. I realize that comparisons with the Ever Blessed FNC and comments about St. Rush the Pompous are Verboten, but, which is silliest:
A balding, plump man who offers to bathe a beautiful young woman with a sandwich?
A balding, obese man traveling alone from a weekend with the guys smuggling Viagra through Customs?
A man who thinks he is toned and can take on an athlete?

Depends on your sense of humor. I am a great fan of satire, particularly of the British variety. The all time champs in this department are of course Monty Python's Flying Circus. In my opinion, their best movie was Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The scene featuring the sword "fight" between King Arthur and the Black Knight is a classic and hysterically funny. In fact, take a few moments and watch it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9HrinSGOvs
Why is it so funny? Because, the Back Knight is so completely outclassed and has no chance at all, but he delusionally believes that he will prevail if just given a chance.
Olbermann's "they decide maybe this confrontation is not really worth it" quote is funny in exactly the same way. The guy sitting at the far end of the bench of the worst team in any major league would tear Olbermann apart in seconds, in the same way that King Arthur dispatched the Black Knight in nothing flat. Yet with Olbermann like hubris, the Black Knight keeps saying he wants a piece of King Arthur declaring: "It's only a flesh wound" "Running away, eh? Come back here, I'll bite your leg"
Maybe Olby does this intentionally, knowing that his campy egotism will get him attention. Or maybe he really is deluded. Whatever, it gives me a good laugh.
Democrats in NJ want to spend 9 million dollars on tunnels so that snake and frogs can cross under a highway so that they don't get hurt. How lovely. Why spend the 9 million on bridges so they don't fall down, when you can save a frog or a snake.
So tell me Olbersessed NeoCon Right Wing Whack-Jobs....
Why is it when Olby feels a need to respond to Gibson, it shows his thin skin and petty tit-for-tat nature....
=========================
Did you see the way Quief responded to Gibby? He did it in his usual pissy, sarcastic, condescending, snottassed way the thin skinned little bitch always does.
-----------------------------------------------
But when Gibson feels a need to respond to Olby, he's sticking up for himself, fighting the good fight, and putting Olbermann in his place?
==============================
Gibby and his side kick just laughed their asses off at Olberdouche and schooled him at every turn. Whata show, whata show.
-------------------------------------------------
Oh yeah, because you guys are pandering petty pouting partisan hacks.
===============================
Uhhh.......yep....sure are.
-------------------------------------------------
I keep giving you guys the benefit of the doubt, but you keep making me regret doing so.
===============================
Giving us the benefit of the doubt probably is not advisable ......you do so at your own peril ......and our pleasure.
I want...no I demand that my government tape all of my phone conversations and save all of my e-mails to guarantee my future innocence.
Gosh, How could you be against warrentless wiretapping and be worried about terrorism? That was a truly an excellent point Gibson made.
I mean it isn't possible to be both pro civil liberties and pro safety you are either one or the other.
Posted by: craigs at August 16, 2007 7:31 PM
I really don;t know if you are being serious here or not, but for my part I will take civil liberties every time. Chicken-hearted submission to despotism is what Jeferson and Franklin warned would destroy the republic they helped to create - not tiny headless cells of zealots with box-cutters and home-made bombs. I'd like to try and put the eventuality of despotism off as long as possible.

I love you guys are still bitching about the warrantless wire taps. Still? Didn't you get the democrat memo? The democratic congress just rolled over and AUTHORIZED the same plan you lefties have been complaining about for months.
Seems you liberal guys are all show, no go. Because if the senate blocked it, and another terrorist attack happened, all the blood would be on your hands.
Memo reads- taps are NOW authorized. So shaddup!
and don't forget all the lawsuits that have been overturned or thrown out of the courts because the people who sued saying their civil rights were violated COULD NOT prove they were being tapped... now that is irony. Don't you think you'd know if your civil rights were violated? Hmmmmm.
Maybe a big black van woulda picked you up and thrown you in the pokey after you were taped discussing where you bought your last bag of weed! Hasn't happened freaks... they are looking for al queda - not hippies.

John Stewart is a national treasure, but I always thought that when he called Tucker Carlson "a dick" in the midst of arguing on CNN's Crossfire that talking head cable shows were dumbing down and adding kerosine to the national discourse, Stewart ought to have won some sort Great Illustrations of Liberal Rhetoric vs. Actions award...

Probably the sort of person Stewart characterized as dumbing down and inflamming political discourse by using terms like "fascist monster" about their political opponents. :D
Foul mouthed? Does the Comedy Channel's censors not work in your area?

Cecelia, you've been gone a couple of days; What is YOUR impression of Bush's characterization in his Friday press conference of the 9/11 hijackers as "19 kids lured onto airplanes"?
A tad nuanced and morally relativistic for an annointed prophet of Freedom, don't you think?
What's he up to? Is it just another brain-fart, or is it a scripted segue into "America is not at war with Saudi-based Al Qeada; America has always been at war with Iran". It was among his last uterances in response to the last question, and those are always tightly stooged and scripted.

Keith makes the list in comedian Jackie Mason's book "SCHMUCKS!: Our Favorite Fakes, Frauds, Lowlifes, Liars, the Armed and Dangerous, and Good Guys Gone Bad",
Jackie refers to Bathtub Boy as a "putz". Too funny since Jackie once insulted Keith on-air while appearing as a guest on Meltdown. Note to Jon Stewart: Any Jew knows that "putz" is funnier than "dick".
I see you couldn't critique my point, so instead you know you have to come up with some inane remark.
"It's total capitulation or nothing" eh?

Oh, you mean the specious sideline shots you tried to make after you agreed with me that Stewart is brilliant. I see ...the bit where... a compliment to Stewart isn't enough for you, I also have say his take on the war is based on "truth" and that conservatives aren't funny.

A cringe producing attempt to convey a message about not being an Islamic stooge to Iranian youth.
John Gibson needs to shut his trap. That was one of the most distastful things I've ever heard. And to not even have the guts to apoligize, but instead saying, "hey, look, I like Jon Stewart", as if that would somehow clear him of wrongdoing.
There is nothing necessarily wrong with questioning the sincerity of people who deliver morality lectures with the same matter of fact tone night after night (see Bill O'Rielly and Olbermann), but to question whether someone actually felt bad about a tragedy is downright sickening. Especially a native New Yorker only a day after the worst disaster in that city's history. Jon Stewarts speech following that disaster was one of the most memorable and (IMO) best monologues given by anybody on any station following 9/11. He said what we all felt.
If Gibson wanted to call Stewart a hipocrit, that would have been fine, wrong in my opinion, but fine. But to question the sincerity of his pain? The idea that not liking Bush could somehow equate to not feeling bad about 9/11 is almost beyond description.
John Gibson needs to apoligize.
Let’s remind all the zombies out there that the Olbermann who is attacking John Gibson for questioning Jon Stewarts tears, is the same Olbermann who accused the President of murdering Pat Tillman because he voted for John Kerry.
Lets also not forget, this is the same Jon Stewart who compared Karl Rove to Jeffrey Dahmer.
> But to question the sincerity of his pain?
He said quite clearly that the pain was "heartfelt". What he questioned the sincerity of was his quick conversion to Bush-bashing in order to get cheap and easy ratings and laughs. That sounds like the plain meaning of what he said in this clip.
Factor,
But that in no way excuses what Gibson did. It was right on par with some of the things uttered by Kieth Olbermann, but that is not a barometer for determining the right to say stupid stuff. Just cause he said it doesn't mean I can sort of thing.
As for Kieth's involvement, I would advise him that Jon Stewart can more than defend himself, (and with a hell of a lot more class than Kieth).
John Gibson needs to apoligize.

Uh huh, Einstein..... and you didn't specifically say that Stewart's take on the Bush Administration, the Republican presidential candidates, and Christian conservatives was "truth" either, but it's a fair assumption that you include all those things in your statement about Stewart ...like so many others on the left... speaking truth... a point that was and is nothing other than strictly contentious, as is your other one about there being no conservative comics... try scrappleface.com, iowahawk.com, jameslileks.com., andrewsullivan.com... Or did you mean comics who have tv shows... or comics who aren't Dennis Miller... or funny people who are professional comics and not brilliantly witty political analysis....etc... etc...
I'd say you need an honesty check, but the reality is that you need a personality transplant. That's the only thing that would really do....
Some anonymous moonbat spewed: "Johnny has to play the right wing stooge or this web site folds, baby"
The Masthead says it all: "Still the #1 Keith Olbermann blog in the world"
Where are the right wing satirists?
Where are the right wing comedians?
_________________________________________
I wouldn't call them right wing, but many conservatives and libertarians look to Trey Parker and Matt Stone of south park to get their dose of satire. While not "right wing", their show often targets liberals far more than conservatives. ANd advocates solving your own problems. (portraying government establishment as inept and misguided) And they often (to my suprise) portray Bush in a positive light, or at least not wholly negativly.
One of them once even made the comment, "I hate conservatives, But I REALLY Fucking hate liberals."
Not terrible classy i know, but there it is.
and yes, Jon Stewart is absolutly brilliant. But is trumped by the absolute brilliance of Stephen Colbert.
"Where are the right wing comedians?"
Dennis Miller
Larry The Cable Guy
Jeff Foxworthy
etc.
And before you snicker and flame, note that Larry the Cable Guy is presently the TOP-RATED comedian.
Anyone on the left, who might have a prayer of being heard by WDYC, care to tell this moron that the idea that comedy comes from anger is NOT a concept which I made up... :D
Nothing is funnier than an Olbyloon whining about Bush, Cheney, Haliburton, and Scooter Libby.
So you came up with ONE, solo, uno...Dennis Miller...who was once on the "right" side until he lost his way, and TV show and credibility and sense of humor.
So basically you still got nuthin'....
where you basically always end up.
Can't play anymore dear, I need some sleep. Some of us have real jobs.

Cecelia, I think this is apropos to what seems to be ever more anger, sometimes almost approaching rage, dominating some of the commenters here:
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/ThomasSowell/2007/05/15/the_anger_of_the_left
"That people on the political left have a certain set of opinions, just as people do in other parts of the ideological spectrum, is not surprising. What is surprising, however, is how often the opinions of those on the left are accompanied by hostility and even hatred.
Particular issues can arouse passions here and there for anyone with any political views. But, for many on the left, indignation is not a sometime thing. It is a way of life. "
Whenever I don't participate but just read/skim the threads the ever present anger and hostility of some of the posters stands out to me glaringly. What a shame, too. When an actual debate gets going without all of that it can be so much more enjoyable. That is one spice that must be used sparingly or it ruins the dish.

Posted by: Cecelia at August 17, 2007 12:26 AM
Sure - he "questioned his logic" by stating that if you now disagree with Bush in any way in regard to his universally failed policies in regard to what he calls the "war on terror" then you could not possibly have been sincerely saddened by the 9/11 attacks. And that was only in Gibson's considered response to being called on the original savagery on his radio show.
Gibson's sole "logic" is that Bush is infallible - show me where I'm wrong.
did you honestly think i wasn't aware of that? wow.
while ignoring my pointing out south park, and saying only solo acts can be included (as if solo acts have cornered the market on satire, which I guess weekend update can only qualify during the chase, miller, and quinn, and nealon years).
Keep in mind that both Colbert and Stewart have a team of equally brilliant writers behind them. (although i like to think that there is only one guy who comes up with the on-screen headline puns, and that that is his only job. lol.)

We've now moved from WDYC making arbitrary rules about what constitutes comics, satrists, etc. into what constitutes a "real conservative".
Like I said, we're two minutes from Cindy Sheehan being the true measure of comic (as opposed to comic fodder) in the world...
But Sahl disagrees, maintaining his independence of political labels. “I’m weightless to the right,” he says. “The devil never made me an offer.”
Indeed !
Posted by: Why Do you care at August 17, 2007 1:33 AM
So why are you putting a political label on him, dolt?
It's interesting that "lefty" Mort Sahl's favorite comedian is a conservative. (Huh? A conservative comedian? How can that be? Our in-house, self-appointed fact-checker discounted any such possibility!) From a 2004 interview:
Q: What comedians do you enjoy?
A: Jonathan Winters.
Q: There's a young up-and-comer.
A: ...Yeah, young up-and-coming... How old is Jonathan, 77? You know, we were going to have a tour this winter.... Winters is a wild man, but, significantly enough, he's a conservative.... After posting this I may have to go into my 1950s bomb shelter. :)
Rush Limbaugh's show has really brilliant right wing satire in his update themes and parodies. It rivals the best of SNL from its heyday and that is saying something.

The result is one where people will only laugh at what "their" guy says, no matter how unfunny. And ignore the comments of the other guy, no matter how hilarious. Thats not good for comedy. Thats not good for anybody. Sometimes, we just need to stick to fart and fat mamma jokes."

One of the funniest skits SNL ever did was one with Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden characters totally capitulating and apologizing for their beliefs to a W.F. Buckley character in a skit about the old PBS show Firing Line.
THAT was point I was making when I mention capitulation to WDYC when he launched into this .. strictly contentious......stuff ( for lack of a better word....) merely because I had complimented Stewart...
A compliment towards someone WDYC feels is on his "team" wasn't enough for him. The scene from SNL is the little putz's deepest darkest dearest fantasy and it doesn't take Freud to see that this has nothing to do with humor as a topic or even politics.
Is this "The Magic (sic) Negro" you are referring to:
" RUSH: There's a fascinating story in the LA Times today. Get this headline. Who wrote this? David Ehrenstein is his name. He's LA-based, and "writes about Hollywood and politics." The headline of his column: "Obama, the 'Magic Negro.'"

Yes, it's a funny and deft a commentary on racial and cultural memes.
Lyrics:
(Sharpton impersonator): Barack the Magic Negro lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times, they called him that
'Cause he's not authentic like me.
Yeah, the guy from the L.A. paper
Said he makes guilty whites feel good
They'll vote for him, and not for me
'Cause he's not from the hood.
See, real black men, like Snoop Dog,
Or me, or Farrakhan
Have talked the talk, and walked the walk.
Not come in late and won!
[refrain] Oh, Barack the Magic Negro, lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times, they called him that
'Cause he's black, but not authentically.
Oh, Barack the Magic Negro, lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times, they called him that
'Cause he's black, but not authentically.
Some say Barack's "articulate"
And bright and new and "clean."
The media sure loves this guy,
A white interloper's dream!
But, when you vote for president,
Watch out, and don't be fooled!
Don't vote the Magic Negro in --
'Cause -- 'cause I won't have nothing after all these years of sacrifice
And I won't get justice. This is about justice. This isn't about me, it's about justice.
It's about buffet. I don't have no buffet and there won't be any church contributions,
And there'll be no cash in the collection plate.
There ain't gonna be no cash money, no walkin' around money, no phoning money.
Now, Barack going to come in here and --fade out....

They get inside, start drinking, and before long, it's the bottom of the 5th and the bags are loaded.

I am speaking of the parody song in which Al Sharpton sings about Barack Obama. I was going into Midtown from LaGuardia, and the cabbie had Limbaugh on. He was laughing like a jackass during the song. I found it racist and tasteless, and I didn't tip the cabbie. I have found many conservatives find racist jokes funny, although most do not. That is when I decided Limbaugh was nothing more than a shock jock with a shtick aimed at middle age white men who have uninspiring jobs and issues with women and minorities.

During the Jet Blue controversy re Jet Blue subsidizing Kos (?) Michelle Malkin had a little informal contest to create the best (from a right wing perspective) for Jet Blue.
I posted a link with the comment that it could also be equally funny from a left wing aspect with very minor changes.
The ad was a picture of a commercial airplane from the right side of the plane in the blue skies with clouds for perspective. There was no right wing on the plane and the caption read "Jet Blue Your Left Wing Airline".
A picture from the other side of the plane with a caption 'Jet Blue Your Right Wing Airline' wqould be just as funny.

Wow! The detailed memory of watching a barefoot woman eating a peach in Vienna in Monsieur Capon's youth must have been seared in his brain.
Could this be an experience such as John Kerry's seared in his brain Christmas in Cambodia during President Nixon's term before he was even inaugurated?

Cecelia, perhaps I should have said humor at its rarest.
I don't think we can ever delineate what is humorous to a fine point anyway. There are some essentials I guess we can attribute to it, such as based in truth and tragedy (too strong a word but nothing else comes to mind right now). Beyond that I think it is like beauty. It is based on the eye of the beholder.

About the "who's funnier" question: This website makes most of its hay by citing ratings. Name a few clearly right-wing comics who have anything approaching a carreer, let alone ratings worth considering?
But then again - Jon Stewart is hardly partisan - its just that the facts seem to be. Did anyone see him lambasting Hillary last night? True, the crowd seemed a little non-plussed, but I was laughing my ass off.
Here's a dose of right-wing humor:
From Strength for the Journey: An Autobiography by Jerry Falwell (1987, Simon and Schuster), pp. 49-50:
There were times that Dad's pranks bordered on cruelty. One of his oil company workers, a one-legged man he nicknamed "Crip" Smith, complained about everything. Dad and Crip's co-workers got tired of the old man's bellyaching and decided to take revenge. One morning Crip called in sick and Dad volunteered to send by lunch to his grateful but suspicious employee. Dad and his chums caught Crip's old black tomcat, killed it, skinned it, and cooked it in the kitchen of one of Dad's little restaurants. They called it squirrel meat and delivered it to Crip on a linen-covered tray. When Crip returned to work the next morning, Dad and his co-conspirators asked him how he liked his meal. They knew he would complain even about a free home-cooked lunch, and when Crip called it "the toughest squirrel meat" he had ever eaten, they were glad to tell him why.
"Bordered on cruelty"? Hell, Vincent Price made this into a horror movie, if I recall.

It wouldn't be the first time you were replaced on a job...
I wish Mark David Chapman was released and walking the streets of Manhattan.. just point him to Mr Albino Man.
"And there'll be no cash in the collection plate.
There ain't gonna be no cash money, no walkin' around money, no phoning money."
Yo yo 'sup with my Keefie-hatin' homies. You all are still kickin' it old-school MC Rove-style. Jacking up the P-rez and what not, lovin some Bush yall. What what?
Mega ditto props to Limbaugh for making mad profits. He's the master of giving mild racists rational excuses for what they like to wallow in. Such delicious satire. Ooooo...why it's just delicious! And so true about those negroes. Why, they even attack one another, the savages. We just point that out, my friends, it's just more black on black crime, my friends. Heh heh. Right back after this EIB profit center announcement.
Do you have problems with your penises, my friends? Have you tried rubbing Dr. Migilicuty's amazing penis cream on it? How much hair do you have? Why not rub Dr. McGilicuty's amazing hair creme on your head?
Now friends, in the last segment my giant godly brain proved that the only real racists are black people, because they make money off of other, stupider blacks, and file lawsuits when prompted by the Breck Girl, and try to win elections in sneaky ways using their race as their whole identity. So let's talk to Matt in Tennessee....
"Mega dittos Rush. Yer just so raht about that...no one understands it's really the blacks who are racists, o.k., because they wahnt speshul treatment and stuff. And it's white's who are the real victims here, because it's ok for blacks to call each other the n word, buht we're not allowed to, now are we?"
"Exactly Matt. Exactly. They'll hang you from the nearest tree if YOU do that, my friends, but it's just fine for them. Ha Ha...opps, I'm not being politically correct enough. Ha Ha. That's also a first amendment issue, if you think about it, my friends. By the way, have you purchased any hair or penis creme yet?"
"Ah tell you what Rush, just because of that double standarhd Ahm going to go around and sing your magic negro song all day. Cuz it explains how there is that double standard, and why they can be racial but we caint, and they just want to make money off of racism and stuff."
"You do that, Matt, that will drive those liberals crazy!! But seriously, I think you owe it to youself to buy some penis and hair creme, and maybe a tee shirt that let's them know you don't believe their lies about torturing arabs and such. Pure piffle.
Poor Erie Bob....Rush Limbaugh's satire directed at his hypocritical ideology just causes all sorts of funny reactions.....strange language.....odd sounds....
Come now Bob, a audience of up to 20 million mild racists for almost 20 years on the air......America really needs the leftists' compassion and tolerance!
And the latest leftist's attempt to clean up the airwaves just dropped out.....The programming specifically created for women (Fonda et al)........
Go see what the bad boogey man said about the grand scheme.....

and that liberals don't own guns. Or he'd probably end up shot by an unhappy one-night stand.
If, and its a big if, you have anything intelligent to post, AAP, please indulge me.
I have shown no more anger or paranoia towards the intellecually lost left than you and your fellows have displayed regarding those boogeymen NEOCONS!
NEOCONS
NEOCONS
NEOCONS
NEOCONS
Cue twilight zone music.
In point of fact, my derisive posts last night towards your leader of paranoia, Sir Loin of Milquetoast, were rather cathartic (I really do not own a tin foil hat, do you AAP?)
So, AAP, again....I would like to see you display some sort of higher brain activity....at least give me something or I may have to reconsider who is tagged "mental midget."
Look out AAP!.....a neocon, a slimy Jew and the fundy flat-earther......they're out to get ya!

The Sharpton's treatment of Obama as well as his comments to black artists about not using the "n-word" so that he can ...quote... not seem as though we are contradicting ourselves about Imus...unquote... is a Tom Wolfe novel for sure.... as are most of these sorts of imbroglios. They are ripe for satire, parody, and just plain ole jest.
I'd like to say it was simply a matter of having the right level of melanin to be "authentically" comedic in order to get a pass from the Erie Bobs of the world when doing that. However, it's more than that. It's politics, making it verboten to criticise certain Democrats in certain ways, even when that way is part and parcel of the work of their hands. But it's more than that too. It's the utter unshakable conviction that we really are largely a bunch of racists with the noose behind our backs, who must be kept at bay.
There's no humor to be found in that hard and dire effort to keep us in check or in any situation folks such as ourselves might exploit.
That's our loyal opposition, dear man. That's how they think about you, and when you manage to forget that for one second, in the next instant they will remind you. Count on it.

cee, don't look for any signs of any thing resembling "brain activity" from the poster known as patsy. "why" may chime in to the rescue, as he usually does or he may ask for assistance from bob, if needed. The 3 stooges, all rolled up into one little hateful ball.
How bout that Edwards "I'm for the little guy" capitalizing on katrina foreclosures. Just imagine the outrage from the far leftists if he had a (R) after his name!
Soooooo finally, after months when I told you Johnny BU$HWIPE is full of shit, you figured out AAP ain't "Why" or "Bob" you give up?
Who said that? I didn't.
Philby, If I said that, you or patsy would have posted it by now. Case closed? You had no case.
Gibson is great. When he speaks of the "War On Gibson". he says it with tongue firmly in cheek. He loves to tweek losers ala slob. Gibson is whining all the way to the bank

Why Do You Post spewed: "Dennis Miller has long ceased to be funny. Larry the Cable Guy and Foxworthy are BLUE COLLAR COMEDIANS dipshit...and Drew Carey doesn't discuss politics at all.
Plus who the hell are all the other guys on this list."
You are dense as a black hole. Drew Carey founded CONSERVATIVE COMEDIANS, Larry the Cable Guy rails on moonbats like the Dixie Chicks, and Jeff Foxworthy appeals to a strictly right-wing audience.
As for the other professional comedians on the list, they are members of the RIGHT STUFF conservative comedians...

Sir Loin of Lunacy wanted a "few" right-wing comics and that's exactly what he got. nuf sed.
RP, in very severe cases of BDS the afflicted will go to the mat to prove that Repubs and Conservatives are incapable of any human attributes, even a sense of humor.
Nothing is too petty for them to use as a club to convince themselves (?) that they are the master race and superior in every way.

Typical moonbat reaction when presented with direct proof of fact:
1. Denial
2. Name-Calling
3. Lying
Keith has taught you well.

Hear! Hear!
9:25 post is like the social committee at a Klan meeting.
Posted by: at August 19, 2007 11:45 PM
So you klan guys say "hear! hear!" at your social meetings, huh? Who knew...
Cecelia thinks everyone is a Klan member, like her and Grandma.
Bet they use lots of starch in their sheets.

You're the one with the knowledge of what happens at Klan meetings, I just bow to your experience.
I didn't even know that klansmen might starch their uniforms. See... you're a fount of information here...
