"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith Olbermann
Topics/Guests:
Keith Oralmann bellowed the opening spiel: Craig may not resign, The Perfessor will weigh in, Bush in the "bubble" [Ding!], free advertising for Madame Hillary, and more. It's hump day at Olbermann Watch, and we can't wait for The Hour of Spin to end because it's also debate night.
#5: Larry Craig yet again. The Pundit for All Occasions said the controversy is "going to last", Monkeymann referenced GOP "hypocrisy", and a good time was had by all. Great thanks. Next: Olby and the Perfessor. Withdrawing the plea is a risk even though the case against him is weak. Yeah. We know. Great thanks.
#4: Iraq benchmarks not being met. Quote from Pelosi (D). New book about "Mister" Bush by Draper. Yammering about who disbanded the Iraqi army, Bush's "cavalier" (KO) remarks (Draper said they weren't cavalier), yada yada yada. Borrrrrrrrring.
#3: Olbermoronn and Bernstein in a drooling contest over Madame Hillary. "Former President" Bill Jefferson Clinton: clips regurgitated from NBC. Hillary is "real, flesh and blood, exciting, fascinating...she is something else!" gushed CB. Mr Merkle was gaga over how well she uses her husband B.J. Amazingly, one hot topic never came up (see Dogs, below). Well, not so amazingly. This is, after all, OlbyPlanet. Great thanks.
#2: Steve Fossett search, plus Jude Law, Halle Berry. #1: Leona Helmsley's dog.
In the Media Matters Minute, Bathtub Boy attacked a Congressman (Republican, natch) (Blue Blog Source: Daily Kos), and Michelle Malkin (of the "lunatic fringe" and "Fox Noise" [Ding!]) (Blue Blog Source: Daily Kos). What did Michelle do wrong? Nothing. She was named "worst person" because Geraldo Rivera verbally attacked her and said he would "spit on her". So Olby naturally sides with Rivera. On OlbyPlanet, spitting on people is good, as long as it's Michelle Malkin.
Dogs that did not bark: Danish terror busts, and an Al Qaeda attack targeting Americans thwarted in Germany. Do the Olbypologists even care how Krazy Keith routinely and deiberately buries this news? We're now into week two of a scandal so major that it has received front page coverage in both the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times. A million-dollar fundraiser for Madame Hillary who fled the jurisdiction after a conviction for grand larceny years ago, and now has jumped bond again! It will surprise no one that this story is still being totally spiked by Edward R Olbermann. It's a (D) scandal that involves Hillary Clinton. Herr Olbermann will go to any lengths to protect his candidate, including censoring any news not favorable to her. Yes, Keith Olbermann is a left-wing water carrier and a slovenly political hack.
Olbermann's book The book that bears Olbermann's name is#23,032, while "Culture Warrior" is #3,383. (It's that 2-for-$25 sale!) Barnes & Noble seems to have given up even trying to find a ranking for the dud OlbyTome; O'Reilly's book is #1,784 there, and is one of the top five books of 2006 per Publishers Weekly. We're off to watch the debate. Tonight's MisterMeter reading: 3 [GUARDED]
9:06 and the review is up [Ding]! Are you watching Schatz'ie
How come KO was calling Bill Clinton, President Clinton, and he calls President Bush, Mr. Bush? And why wasnt Hill. named the worst person in the world for taking money from her fugative buddy?
And Keith NEVER slammed any (R) candidate for taking money and then giving it back, is that what you're claiming, O'Lielly? You picked the right handle.
ed.. BECAUSE SHE GAVE IT BACK..
Posted by: Bill O'lielly at September 5, 2007 10:19 PM
Riiiight! Yeah, like Craig Livingstone gave back the FBI files.
Carl Bernstein recently wrote a book about HRC that addresses her part in her husband's various campaign finance scandals.
It's astounding that Bernstein is guesting on a news show while another Clinton campaign donor scandal is one of the biggest news stories of the day, and neither he or Olbermann mention it!
The Kook Ron Paul, didling the nerds
Talking unhinged on Iraq, powerful words
His followers do masterbate
Olbyloons loving this debate
Ron Paul a Republican? that's for the birds!
> The recurring, endless Larry Craig story, of virtually no real importance, is sucking up all the air time
Bwahaaaa! That's a classic bit of Olbypologist spin! How come every OTHER news program has found time to report on Hsu, but NOT Keith Oralmann? He did an entire segment on Hillary with her biographer but didn't have time to bring it up? You mean he couldn't squeeze in any mention of it anywhere on his show for a week because Leona Helmsley's dog took precedence? Hahaaaaa!
I wonder where Keith Olbermann would be without Fox News or Bill O'Reilly to pick on. I have always noticed that Mr Olbermann never interviews anyone who disagrees with him politically.
Bernstein creamed in his pants gushing over Hillary....GREAT THANKS !!
My boy Huckabee is shining...Romney is a phoney.....Giuliani...unelectable
Huckabee/McCain ticket
you heard it here first.
Feechie,
Huckabee can be head of the Dept. of Dieting for some other President. I'll take Duncan Hunter. Does Huckabee even have an opinion on the War on Terror? If so, it's so unmemorable that I always forget what it is. Anayways, it's more fun to watch Federer and Roddick playing tonight than to watch another debate.
agree the Hsu matter is a big news story, but Senator Clinton is very, very lucky. The recurring, endless Larry Craig story, of virtually no real importance, is sucking up all the air time and is the subject of most of the comentaries. Pure luck, but sometimes that is what it takes. The Foley story, breaking right before the November 2006 elections was certainly a lucky break for the Democrats, and a devastating blow for the Republicans, wasn't it? If I were a Republican, I think I would be looking to break the string of bad luck, but they just seem to be bringing it on.
Posted by: Clucker at September 5, 2007 10:43 PM
Bernstein was sitting on Countdown waxing eloquent about Hillary, not Craig. It's shocking that a Olbermann would feel no compunction to discuss it.
The Hsu story has managed to cover most of the front page of the New York Times and LA Times, and is front page stuff for the Washington Post too.
MSNBC has covered it on and off all day.
The timing on the Foley story wasn't pure luck, it was a calculated maneuver that is part and parcel of political campaigns and that no one finds particularly shocking unless they want to pretend Karl Rove invented it.
You're known by the company you keep. The Clinton's have a long history of consorting with felons, a history that Olby and the Dems don't want to acknowledge so what do they do? Ignore it!
Sorry, but to apologize for no coverage of Hsu on the grounds that Craig was taking up all the air time was not only illogical and inaccurate, it was desperate. Why don't you just admit Olby won't bring up Hsu because he's protecting Hillary? There IS no other logical explanation. Is it so hard for you to admit that Herr Olbermoronn is a left-wing water carrier and a slovenly political hack?
Perhaps, you are just so obssessed with your mission aginst Olbermann, your analytical abilities have been compromised.
Posted by: Clucker at September 5, 2007 11:16 PM
I agree. My impression wasn't that you were spinning either.
Spin has to be germane and plausible as to the actual circumstances under review.
I just took your response as a convoluted road that you hastily plotted for some small opportunity to gloat.
No biggie...
"I don't view Olbermann as a news show,"
Sombody better tell MSNBC then because they sure as hell try to present his show as one.
And how anybody can say that the fact that one of the top Dem money contributers gets caught as a crook then flees a bail hearing isn't a worthy news story is amazing..it's real simple if a Republican contributers got caught doing what Hsu did..you be damn sure KO and the rest of the MSM would find time to talk about it..this is a clear example of the double standards and liberal bias of the MSM and why KO and the rest will go out of their way in the next year to protect Hillary and savage the Republican canidates..heck ABC is already doing it now by refusing to release the "Path to 9/11" on DVD to protect Hill.
Cecelia:
No one was a surprised about Foley as the Democrats were. They were so stunned, they didn't know how to capitalize fully. Your conspiracy theory is flaky.
Posted by: Clucker at September 5, 2007 11:24 PM
It's not a "conspiracy" anymore than releasing bad news right before the weekend is a conspiracy. I'm not reliving the Foley matter with you though. If you prefer to believe it was a matter of "luck", have at it....

Well, I don't think a southern accent made Bill Clinton sound inarticulate, O'Liely, but maybe you should call for his torture and dismemberment anyway.
Hah hahahaha it's Bill O'lielly, the shortbus retard.
Full of misplaced ellipses and toally worthless.
O'lielly, you are proof that the criminally insane should be sewn into a potato sack and dropped off a cold water pier.
That's TOTALLY worthless to the rest of you.

O'lielly is a washroom attendant. That's the only job he is qualified to hold. If you know what I mean.
Miss Malkin could kick Olby's tail
Like a hammer hitting a nail
His belly's like jello

Keith's name-calling is getting stale
Olbermann should be a court Jester.
Oh wait.
He is.
He's Hillary's Court Jester!

Among the nearly two dozen television DVDs slated for nationwide release on Sept. 11 is the second season of “Bones,” the third season of “Grey’s Anatomy” and the miniseries “The Starter Wife” that aired earlier this year. Not on the list on that day or any other in the near future is last year’s highly controversial “The Path to 9/11.”
The $40-million, five-hour ABC miniseries, which recently received seven Emmy nominations and drew a combined two-night audience of more than 25 million viewers, is for now on the path to nowhere. Its Amazon page reads: “Currently unavailable. We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.”
With no date for the release, questions are being raised about whether political pressure is behind its current status as a stalled or discarded DVD project. The reasons are murky, but the miniseries’ writer, Cyrus Nowrasteh, believes it’s crystal clear: Powerful forces are out to protect Bill Clinton’s presidential legacy and shield Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) from any potential collateral damage in her bid for the White House.
Nowrasteh, also one of the miniseries’ many producers, said he was told by a top executive at ABC Studios that “if Hillary weren’t running for president, this wouldn’t be a problem
Nowrasteh; the shill behind ABC's scurrillous revisionism of "The Path to 9/11", or whatever that lying chunk of propaganda was called.

Wow, Johnny Fraud, That's some pretty heady political analysis in your recap for somone who describes themself as a 'non-political' writer. You must have learned that one from Keith, the non-liberal.
Hump Day at Olbermann Watch?, Casual Friday at Olbermann Watch?, Yes, Johnny, we know what day of the week it is.
Could your 'non-political' writing be any more contrived or partisan? The OW regulars don't care, as long as you are a died-red douche bag, that's all they care about.
Cheers!

The Clintonistas strike again.
Kathleen Willey, the woman who says Bill Clinton groped her in the Oval Office, claims she was the target of an unusual house burglary over the weekend that nabbed a manuscript for her upcoming book, which promises explosive revelations that could damage Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.
Willey told WND little else was taken from her rural Virginia home as she slept alone upstairs – electronics and jewelry were left behind – and she believes the Clintons were behind it.
The break-in, she said, reminded her of the widely reported incident 10 years ago in which she claimed she was threatened near the same Richmond-area home by a stranger just two days before she was to testify against President Clinton in the Paula Jones sexual harassment case.
The theft of the manuscript early Saturday morning was suspicious, she told WND, coming only days after the first mainstream media mention of her upcoming book, which is expected to include accusations of campaign finance violations and new revelations about harassment and threats by the Clintons and their associates.
"Here we go again; it's the same thing that happened before," Willey told WND. "They want you to know they were there. And they got what they wanted. They pretty much managed to terrorize me again. It scared me to death. It's an awful feeling to know you're sound asleep upstairs and someone is downstairs."
The book, "Target: Caught in the Crosshairs of Bill and Hillary Clinton" by World Ahead Publishing, WND Books' partner, is due for release in November. Willey said the stolen manuscript was not the book's final copy.
Among its revelations is Willey's identification of the person who threatened her just prior to her testimony against President Clinton – a man who turned out to be linked to the Clintons.
Willey believes the break-in and theft were prompted by teasers of the book's contents published last week in U.S. News and World Report's "Washington Whispers" column and the New York Daily News.
Willey said she is writing the book because of persistent misunderstanding about what happened 10 years ago.
"There is so much misinformation out there, and I had been so badly maligned in the press," she said. "I had the opportunity to set the record straight.
"And frankly," she added, "Hillary Clinton is running for president, and it's a story a lot of people should hear."
Willey points out her story was deemed credible by the FBI, Independent Counsel Ken Starr and CBS "60 Minutes" producers who allowed her to recount it in front of 29 million viewers.
Longtime Clinton lawyer David Kendall was not available for immediate response to Willey's new claims, and Sen. Clinton's presidential campaign has not responded.
Anne Reynolds, crime analyst for the Powhatan County Sheriff's Department, told WND she could only confirm, due to department restrictions, that there was a break-in and entry reported Saturday in the vicinity of Willey's address and that an officer responded and turned the case over to the criminal investigations department

> Miller and his late night radio show.. you know the time of day when no one listens to talk radio unless they have no other choices ?
You know, O'Lielly, I love your posts because it's fun watching a pathological liar who lies about Everything, major or minor, important or insignificant. Unless you want to claim now that 10 am to 1 pm is "late night".
Poster Laura Bush/Ted Nugent/Dennis Miller is a hoot. He must be a leftie troll; just look at the personnae he associates himself with:
- a glassy-eyed soul-dead stepford wife with a drunken vehicular homicide and drug-dealing in her vodka-drowned past;
- a self-shitting draft-dodger turned war-booster once his bacon's not in the fire;
- a washed-up metro-sexual blowhard "commedian" who cant even pay studio audiences to laugh at his "jokes".
Also - his focus on a mythical homosexual characterization of the left is prime irony.

Posted by: johnny dollar at September 6, 2007 2:35 PM
Here's some more good irony; Dollar bitches about O'Liely focusing on the "insignificant", and then goes on only to critique by a matter of hours his particular concept of what constitutes "late night".

Posted by: Bill O'lielly at September 5, 2007 10:19 PM
So I guess that settles that . . . oh wait, what's that you say? There's more to this story? Well, let's pull back the curtain and take a look . .
"The Clinton campaign has said it will give $23,000 in direct donations from Hsu to charity, but keep the money he bundled. Wolfson declined to release the names of bundled donors." (buried deep in the story at paragraph 14)
http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-hsu6sep06,0,2063880.story?page=2&coll=la-home-center
Of course, these sorts of campaign irregularities are old hat for anyone who has followed the adventures of the Clintons during their political career from convicted moneyman Charlie Trie, John Huang and the Lippo Group, who gave convicted felon and Clinton crony Web Hubbell a 100,000 a year payoff for his silence regarding the Clintons' sleazy dealings in Arkansas, Lincoln bedroom sleepovers, Clinton acolyte Al Gore's shakedown of the Buddhist temples for campaign cash ("no controlling legal authority") and let's not forget the multiple campaign Clinton contributors who fled the country and scattered like cockroaches rather than face prosecution. And now the esteemed Mr.Hsu joins their ranks. And of course, Hillary is totally in the dark about this guy, one of her most prominent donors. For being the "smartest woman in America" she never seems to have a clue about all the sleaze going on around her. New decade, same old story. Yeah, Hillary is the candidate for "change", don't you know.
The Palmetto Scoop has obtained a flyer (above) attacking presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) over the accusation that he “voted to give criminal sexual abusers early release from prison.” In the flyer, Obama is compared to former Mass. Gov. Michael Dukakis - who came under fire during his 1988 presidential run for his release of convicted murderer William Horton who later committed rape and assault - and claims that the Illinois Senator “is a threat to our safety and security.”
At the bottom of the leaflet is the statement “Mike Dukakis, Willie Horton, Barack Obama, wrong for South Carolina, wrong for America.”
The image was e-mailed to TPS by a reader who saw it posted in various locations across Charleston in advance of yesterday’s Democratic presidential debate. The reader said the campaign of Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) was behind the attack.
Maybe Hillary will do the "there's a bear in the woods" add next.
"And why wasnt Hill. named the worst person in the world for taking money from her fugative buddy?"

This is a valid criticism of Olbermann as journalist. He should be more consistent.
As for Olbermann as political variety-show host, however - suck it up!
I happened to notice the other day that TV Guide has Countdown classified as a News show. Abrams new deal at 9pm? Nope, not listed as a news show. Would it really be so incredibly difficult for Olbermann and MSNBC to come clean and admit that he's not running a new show but an opinion-fest disguised as a news show?
Brandon,
Just curious, how does TV Guide list Chrissie Matthews, Glenn Beck, Billo, Hannity & Colmes and Tucker?
Why,
Don't forget 17 years as a K-Street lobbyist, selling his advocacy to a wide range of contradictory concerns.
Has anyone else noticed that a large percentage of Republicans and their 'supporters' (including the regular OW Choir members) are acting as though they've ingested large quantities of hallucinogens?
It's a strange new world when it's the Dems that are the common-sense voice of reason.
This just goes to show just how desperate you republicans are !

No, liberal loons going on a conservative blog and posting every 5 mins shows how desperate they are for attention. What's wrong, no one stroking your ego at the echo chambers of the Kos and Huffo?

How long is Hussain's list of "accomplishments?" Or, Hillarycare. Or, Edwards "hedge fund, I'm for the little guy while I profit from foreclosures in New Orleans and charge 150 thou for speaking on poverty at colleges?" LOL!
Want to compare Hillary Clinton's record and Fred Thompson's?
I don't think you do.

halftime with the deplorable one.
but, but he drives a red truck!
I like trucks.
NOBODY,
Maybe Hillary can find time to give you a name, too.
You missed this accomplishment as well:
• Allowed William Jefferson Clinton ONE pity fuck purely to squeeze out ONE issuance to prove to all naysayers (past, present and future) that she is not a lesbo.
I'll have you know I discovered an effective treatment for SYPHILLIS, you dickless moron.
BJClinton is grateful for my contributions to medical science.
And Hillary, too!
One of Hillary's Yale professors, Thomas Emerson (known as "Tommy the Commie"), introduced her to Charles Garry, who helped her get personally involved in the defense of several Black Panthers (including the notorious Bobby Seale) who were then being tried in New Haven, Connecticut for the torture, murder, and mutilation of one of their own members. Though evidence of the defendants' guilt was overwhelming, Hillary — as part of her coursework for Professor Emerson — attended the Panther trials and arranged for shifts of fellow students to likewise monitor court proceedings and report on any civil rights abuses allegedly suffered by the defendants. Striving to neutralize what she considered the pervasive racism of the American legal system, "Hillary was," as Barbara Olson observed in Hell to Pay, "a budding Leninist."[4]
Hillary's work for the Panthers earned her a summer internship at the Berkeley, California office of the hardline Stalinist attorney Robert Treuhaft in 1972. According to historian Stephen Schwartz, "Treuhaft is a man who dedicated his entire legal career to advancing the agenda of the Soviet Communist Party and the KGB."
During her time at Yale, Hillary became a prominent figure in the campus protest movement. She wore a black armband in remembrance of the students killed at Kent State in May 1970; she led demonstrations against the Vietnam War; and she led rallies demanding that tampons be made available in the women's rest rooms on campus.
In 1972 Hillary worked on George McGovern's presidential campaign and led a "voter registration" drive in San Antonio, Texas.
Also in the early 1970s, Hillary developed a close acquaintanceship with Robert Borosage, who would later become a major figure in such leftist organizations as the Institute for Policy Studies, Campaign for America's Future, and Institute for America's Future.
Is anyone surprised that Hillary would defend the black panthers, a racist group? Liberal outrage? None.
Lt. Col. Ralph Peters on Upchuck Schumer, "He is a liar and has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to Iraq."
cranium, look what you did to aap/patsy. He's on one of his lunatic disruption rampages. Pathetic, to say the least.
A video taped from a Scan Eagle unmanned aerial vehicle – purported to show the action that took place in Haditha when 24 Iraqi civilians and insurgents were killed – was heavily edited by government investigators, a NewsMax investigation reveals.
The reason, according to an inside source: to avoid showing anything that exonerates the Marines who were accused of murdering the victims.
Four Marines originally faced murder charges stemming from the Haditha incident. Charges against three of them have since been dropped, but Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich is still facing a court martial.
NewsMax can reveal that the video – which was broadcast by CNN – was a small, carefully edited part of what the Scan Eagle transmitted during its daylong surveillance flight over the battle scene on Nov. 19, 2005. And shockingly, the approximately one hour of edited footage was the only Scan Eagle footage provided to the Marines’ defense teams by the prosecution.
According to CNN, “The video appears to show that, throughout that day, Marines engaged in fierce firefights and called in air strikes to level buildings - often with no definitive idea of who was inside."
Had the entire video been shown it would have revealed that the Marines knew exactly “who was inside” - insurgents were clearly shown entering the target buildings before the structures were bombed. If CNN had been able “to review the whole video, they would see that we did indeed have a definitive idea of who was inside,’" an intelligence officer told NewsMax.
Jeff, maybe you can explain to us exactly WHY you think "government investigators" would actively attempt to frame these marines?
Jeff, maybe you can explain to us exactly WHY you think "government investigators" would actively attempt to frame these marines?

Everybody knows, Mike, that the government is BAD. It is created by men and is suffused with original sin (and some plagarized, I assume). George Bush, however, is distinct from the government and is not stained with sin, by virtue of having sobered up and gotten himself born again. He is installed by Jesus and we all must help him destroy the government so a god-given perfect reign of peace and war can ensue.
Did I get that right, cee and Sharon?
Lt. Col. Ralph Peters on Upchuck Schumer, "He is a liar and has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to Iraq."
Posted by: at September 7, 2007 12:23 AM
I fully agree with the Lt Col. on this point.
But as phony as Fred Thompson is, his lack of a substantial record in Congress would make me scratch my head and think why would ANYONE want a president that has never accomplished anything?
Posted by: at September 6, 2007 11:42 PM
This is very unfair. Never accomplished anything? He spent 17 years as a Washington lobbyist, making a crap-load of money and helping to push through elitist, corporate-friendly legislation that punishes the working majority of Americans and facilitates the corporate rape of the American commons.
