Olbermann Watch, "persecuting" Keith since 2004

    September 24, 2007
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - September 24, 2007

"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)

    Host: Keith Olbermann

    Topics/Guests:

    • MAHMOUD AHMADINEJAD'S SPECIAL KOMMENT: Richard Wolffe, Newsweek senior White House correspondent and MSNBC political analyst
    • 2008 ELECTION: Dana Milbank, Washington Post national political reporter and MSNBC political analyst
    • GOP: Bruce Fein, fmr. Reagan deputy attorney general turned Bush hater
    • NASA WANTS TO PUT A MAN ON MARS BY 2037: Derrick Pitts, Franklin Institute Science Museum chief astronomer

Keith Oralmann bellowed the opening spiel: A-Jad speaks, Condi Rice, fake terror threats, "Mister" Bush and "the far right", Britney Spears, and more! Keith is back with a blueblogapalooza, which makes it a Blue Monday (in more ways than one!) at Olbermann Watch.

    Bathtub Boy

#5: Dems spar with a "lame duck" [Ding!] White House, and A-Jad speaks at CU. It's "free speech" and "higher learning", and Bollinger gave "the most brutal introduction of all time". Clip of Condi saying A-Jad at ground zero would be a "travesty". Clip of A-Jad wanting to see ground zero. The Wolffe Man thought the speech "succeeded" even though A-Jad looked like "a fool". Herr Olbermann was quick to note that see, A-Jad really didn't deny the holocaust and showed another clip (no homosexuals in Iran). Wolffie was astute enough to contradict Olby's claim that A-Jad was not really denying the holocaust, but Merkle recovered by complaining that A-Jad wasn't allowed to go to ground zero, which Wolffe Man dittoed. He added that the rise of A-JAd is Bush's fault because he's been "baiting" Iran for years, and--surprise!--Wolffie dittoed that as well. Of course there was the obligatory "administration drumbeat for war" and other golden oldies, which culminated in the ritual Great Thanks.

Next Edward R Olbermann had to apologize to Sen Levin for claiming he voted to condemn moveon, when he actually voted no on the resolution that passed. On OlbyPlanet, Dems get the apologies that Repubs (or eeevil Foxians) don't.

#4: Bush's Brain [Ding!] comments on Hillary, a new book on "Mister" Bush, all to cue the entrance of Dana Milbank, without weird wardrobe. Olby ragged on Bill Sammon for asking "Mister" Bush about the moveon ad, comparing him to Jeff Gannon. Even Dana distanced himself from that smear; it's kind of fun to see one of the OlbyToadies squirm a bit in the Seat of Honor. Olbermoronn objected to Bush likening himself to Harry Truman, and suggested maybe it should have been Truman Capote. Wow, two homophobic slurs in the space of three minutes. Something else Krazy Keith has in kommon with A-Jad. Great thanks.

After yet another O'Reilly attack (Blue Blog Source: Media Matters), we got #3: politics, terror, nexus, lexis, goose, gander, yada yada yada (Blue Blog Sources: Think Progress and Raw Story). One-time Republican, now lefty (though not identified as such) Fein was there to press all the buttons: it's fear, it's misrepresentation, and he even played the Valerie Plame card! You know he got Great Thanksed.

#2: Britney Spears (lengthy regurgitated video from the Today show), rumored Brady Bunch lesbian love nest, O.J., Miss USA, Katy Couric. #1: Mars.

    The Greatest Olbsession of All

In the Media Matters Minute, it was time to feed The Olbsession yet again, because one O'Reilly attack per show just isn't enough. First though, an attack on David Vitter (R) (Blue Blog Source: Daily Kos, Olbermahn's favorite charity). Mr Bill was attacked for criticizing an emailer as being from "far left loonville". Yeah, that's really tough talk. He should have called Brit Hume a "right wing water carrier". That would be perfectly fine on OlbyPlanet, where standards are always double. The winner turned out to be Rush Limbaugh (Blue Blog Source: Media Matters). We got Another Olbermann Lie as the discredited baseball card collector claimed Limbaugh was first to use the "betrayus pun". A lie because it wasn't Rush who coined it, it was a caller. Because it wasn't used against our troops or Petraeus, it was used on a politician. And because the first media appearance of this insulting slander against General Petraeus was, as we know, perpetrated by the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann. Keithy, when are you going to grow a pair and just admit your involvement in this smear, instead of trying to weasel out of it and deflect attention to everyone else but you? Sissy.

    MisterMeter

Olbermann's book The book that bears Olbermann's name is #31,573, while "Culture Warrior" is #3,307. (It's that 2-for-$25 sale!) Barnes & Noble still can't find a ranking for the OlbyTome; O'Reilly's book is #1,964 there, and is one of the top five books of 2006 per Publishers Weekly. Again Friday wasn't even close, as the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann once again lost overwhelmingly to his bete noir, the eeevil O'Reilly, both in total viewers and in the coveted, pivotal, much-beloved, critical, all-important "key demo". Tonight's MisterMeter reading: 5 [ELEVATED]

    Leftists,
What do you have to say now!
    Olbermann supported Ahmadineajad!

Considering his impassioned rants abouit 9/11 and from Ground Zero on 9/11, you'd think Keith would at least understand that while Ahmadineajad speaking at Columbia may be objectionable, 2,800 people weren't killed by terrorists at Morningside Heights six years ago.

Selective memory like that is why Olbermann should stick to hard-hitting topics he can get his brain around. like the ugliness of the Frankford Yellowjackets uniforms.

What a surprise, no sign of Ahmadineajad in the WPITW segment. I forgot, Ahmadineajad is a good friend of the show. Keith's audience cheered and clapped for Ahmadineajad at Looniversity. The left has a warm spot in their hearts for this freedom fighter. Let’s list what the liberals in the audience cheered for.
    Ahmadineajad
There needs to be more study on the holocaust. We can't deny global warming but the holocaust is just a hypothesis.
Women better in Iran than anywhere else. Like the woman that was recently buried up to her neck and stoned to death.
Ahmadineajad did piss of the lefty audience a little. He denied there are homosexuals in Iran. Which got some boos but he clarified his statement by saying there are no homosexuals in Iran because he executes them all. Liberals are not yet ready to execute homosexuals, just Jews, conservatives, Christians, un-born children, and U.S. troops.
Liberals are now the party of Ahmadineajad and Osama. Daily Kos proved it with their latest poll.

Can't A-Jad take Keith back home with him? Maybe that would be somewhere he will feel more comfortable?

    What a Bastard.

Factor again: "What a surprise, no sign of Ahmadineajad in the WPITW segment. I forgot, Ahmadineajad is a good friend of the show."

Factor, do you EVER get tired of posting stupid stuff on this blog?

Did you actually WATCH the show? Or did you just rely on the so called 'recap' written above?

NO Factor, he was not WPITW, but Ahmadinejad WAS literally ridiculed and made fun of for an entire 15 minute segment. I would think a "friend of the show" would have been treated much more kindly than this.

It's also clear that you don't really understand that WPITW is mostly intended to be a rather lighthearted en-of-show jab mostly aimed at routine hypocrisy, and NOT hard newsmakers.

Factor, you really are a poster boy for the old saying "better to keep quiet and have people think you're a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt".

I agree with what you say, Factor.

The Loony Left Libs, including Olbyloon and Schuster, are upset with the Pres. (Bollinger) of Columbia University. They think he was too rude and hard on Ahmadinejad.

    Mike,
Olbermann was supporting Ahmadinejad and was upset that he wasn't allowed to visit ground zero.
Olbermann is an open supporter of Iran.

We know why Patriot Rush Limbaugh was WPITW. He appeared on Family Guy's first episode of the season. That must steam Olbermanns ass that Limbaugh got to appear in the Star Wars episode.

Damn, this site sure have some idiots! Just look at the stupidity of the 11:20 and 11:21 posts. It boggles the mind of anyone with a brain.

Leftists stull deny Olbermann supports Ahmadinejad. It's actually sad their denial of their hero's support of the Iranian regime!

So I guess "War Hero" Mike supports Ahmadinejad visiting ground zero. After Ahmadinejad visits ground zero, he can vist the USS Cole and the Khobar Towers. I'm sure he would shed a tear for the freedom fighters who made those events possible.

    Mike,
Denial isn't a river in Egypt!

Factor's legendary stupidity on display AGAIN:

"So I guess "War Hero" Mike supports Ahmadinejad visitong ground zero"....Actually I don't, and neither does Olbermann in my opinion.

For the simple minded among us, Olbermann's point was simply that we take this fool far too seriously, and that he makes a fool of himself every time he speaks....therefore, why should we fear him or anything he says?

Did you hear or read about Rachel Maddow calling Ahmadineajad "his own worst enemy", and evey one agreed, including Patrick Buchanon?

Why should anyone care what some low-rated talk show hostess says about A-Jad and what does it have to do with the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann?

I am sure Ahmadinejad will be portrayed as his own worst enemy in Iran when he plays clips of the students at the Looniversity cheering for him. My guess is that there is no Olbermann in Iran to trash Ahmadinejad on a nightly basis.

So lets see ... two weeks ago Keith was in an absolute dither about the former mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani going to Ground Zero during the sixth anniversary 9/11 events, because he said that would be politicizing sacred ground.

Today, he sees no problem at all with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad going to Ground Zero and poliicizing sacred ground.

Anyone out there on the left want to take a shot at bringing some logicial consistancy to those two positions, other than the fact that Keith thinks one guy is the successor to Bush and Cheney as the epitome of all things evil, and the other guy is more of a clown than any serious threat to Americans at home, in Iraq or elsewhere, let alone to the State of Israel.

    Mike,
Olbermann downplays Ahmadineajad because he supports him!
    He clearly was supporting Mahmoud!

    John,
    Olbermann supports Ahmadinejad!

    "Mike
Olbermann downplays Ahmadineajad because he supports him!
    He clearly was supporting Mamoud!"

And YOU "clearly" are an idiot!

Factor, you really are a poster boy for the old saying "better to keep quiet and have people think you're a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt".

Posted by: Mike at September 24, 2007 11:05 PM

Funny, many of us here think the same thing about your posts/opinions with no facts.....

So why Did Olbermann defend him?
Why doesn't he ever condemn or attack Ahmadineajd?

Olbermann could dress up in full SS garb and goose step across the set saying hail Hittler and Mike would say, he is just joking.

    Joker:

Keith can't really come right out and say he agrees with the 45 percent of Daily Kos poll voters that they'd rather have Ahmedinejad as their leader than Bush, especially with Dan Abrams going thermonuclar immediately following "Countdown" tonight over Columbia inviting him to speak, and then lacing into the Daily News reporter who said Mahmoud sounded rational during his speech. So Olby's defense is to make Mahmoud out to be a harmless buffoon, in the Idi Amin vein, who may be a crazy anti-Semite, but he's no more of a threat to Americans than the president of Switzerland.

Keith knows the far left wants Ahmadinejad to go to Ground Zero, because they see it as him sticking it in the face of Bush to do so (which is also likely how Mahmoud sees it), but he just can't come out and say it without possible consequences, since those opposed to his visits aren't all in the conservative camp. So he makes the visit sound as harmless as letting some poor mildly paranoid schlub out of the psycho ward at Bellevue Hospital and letting him wander into the Financial District. But God help the Republic if Bush or Giuliani show up at the site, that would be grounds for a week's worth of special comments.

    John,
    Exactly Olbermann is a traitor.
He'll attack and smaer a fellow American he disagrees with but support an enemy!
    That's a traitor!

The Iranian president just doesn't get it! Why does he hate America and our freedom to occupy him, his people, the Iraqis, and the middle east. Why won't the Iranians, Syrians, and Iraqis let us conquer them? I'm proud to say that I hate Ahmadinejad and his propaganda! Isn't it sad that the US can't fully occupy Iraq because the Iraqis are opposing and fighting us? It makes me wonder why they did not blow themselves up when that evil dictator, Hussein was in charge. It also makes me wonder how did al Qaeda get into Iraq? al Qaeda wasn't in Iraq nor were they terrorizing Iraqis before the Bush administration's occupation. It is so very sad that hundreds of thousands of Iraqis flee to Iran and Syria daily because of the US occupation of Iraq. It is also sad that Iran and Syria, part of the axis of evil are brainwashing those Iraqis. Can you believe that those Iraqis won't even blow themselves up when they flee to Iran and Syria? It is so great that the Bush administration has taken a hardline against Iran. Without the support of the Iranian people, we'll never adequately see peace in Iraq. Those Iranians must love it that Iraq is in shambles. Truthiness is so underrated!

"Keithy, when are you going to grow a pair and just admit your involvement in this smear, instead of trying to weasel out of it and deflect attention to everyone else but you? Sissy." J$

Classic. Certain spolbyloons call this a "smear site" while their dream boat conducts smears of his own with no disagreement or condemnation. If it fits their hateful, far left agenda, it's AOK on Planet Olby. Oh, the hypocrisy.

Moral equivalency is the law on Olby planet unless it comes to conservatives. There is no good and evil, just evil conservatives and neo-cons.

Olby won't like this when he hears it. Progress!

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US military snipers in Iraq are "baiting" Iraqis by scattering items such as detonation cord, plastic explosives and ammunition, and then ambushing and killing those who pick them up, The Washington Post reported Monday.

Am I the only one here old enough to remember that Hitler and Hitler like characters were portrayed as manic buffoons in cartoons in the 1930s and during the war?

His wild histrionics in a different language, especially with the speeded up projections of news reels at that time, led many to think of him the same way this dangerous man is being portrayed. Supposed buffoons with the power to wield nuclear weapons should be taken very seriously, just as Hitler should have been taken very seriously.

John, you nailed it with Idi Amin.

    Grammie

People like mike think we should just ignore Amadidajihadist. He actually ridiculed another poster earlier because he mentioned he was listening to A-Jad's speech! The mind of a far leftist at work.....or not.

Ahmadinejad could give a shit less how his little dog and pony show plays in the United States. He is going to use this a propaganda fest in Iran and other Muslim nations.

Since a majority of the country sees the war as a clusterfuck of epic proportions, I guess we're all traitors.

You guys got enough rope to hang us all? Better question - you got the stones to try?

Oh, and would you look at that - New York Republicans want Columbia University punished. Did someone suspend the FIRST AMENDMENT while I was in the john?

i am so gald amad talked at columbia now. That president of columbia fucking pwned him.

he actually said his country has no gays. lol.
Tommorrow he'll go before the UN and say they cant be helping iraqi insurgents, cause they dont have any guns either.

Posted by: at September 25, 2007 12:46 AM

Ya, the First Amendment disappeared when Columbia ran the ROTC off campus. The First Amendment gives Columbia the right let A-Jad speak but it also gives the people of New York the right to tell Columbia to go fuck themselves when they ask for State money. Freedom of speech is not freedom of liberal and terrorist speech only.

    Anytime now.

Thanks, patsy! What's that, 44, now? 45? Hard to keep track, I doubt if you even know.....

They all run away from the ROTC issue, until they can find a way to spin it.

His wild histrionics in a different language, especially with the speeded up projections of news reels at that time, led many to think of him the same way this dangerous man is being portrayed. Supposed buffoons with the power to wield nuclear weapons should be taken very seriously, just as Hitler should have been taken very seriously.

Are you just responding to Janet's name on a post or do you truly not know how to read?

    Cecelia, good to see you.

    Has Sharon been around lately?

I was under the weather and spent a few weeks sleeping and watching old movies. It never ceases to amaze me that the world doesn't come apart and end when I don't monitor things closely. :)

I think RK may be right that it is Patsy. That is virtually all sheit (she, he, it) ever contributes. Poor dear, just the sight of one of my comments sends sheit off on a rampage. His Nexium bill must be huge.

Ask the leader of the Minute men about how well the 1st Amendment works at Columbia..when students are allowed to charge the stage and stop you from speaking.

    Hey, Janet,

Good to see you too. I missed you!

I've seen Sharon pop in and out a bit.

Yes, it is AAP. It's amazing the animus he really has for us. I had always been rather fond of him.

More about Olbyloon --- His ranting about the Bush Administration using fake Terriost information to scare the Dems into voting for the FISA bill is really getting old. The Dems surely must be dumb, and especially Jane Harmon.

    Grammie

I wasn't clear - lawmakers cannot use the power of the State to punish speech. In effect they are saying "We didn't like your choice of speaker, so we're cutting your budget by 20% and suspending this capital project."

    Can you say "chilling effect"?

    Hi Grammie.

I have been out of town for several days but here on and off. I find the hypocrisy incredible from the left over dinnerjacket (easiest way to type his name). Iranian men get whipped for drinking beer. Women get buried from the chest down and stoned for sexual crimes. This is supposed to be light entertainment for us I guess, not to be taken seriously.

This is from the Huff Post (which takes a harsh view of Christianity as well):

"Every person living in a western democracy should read the Koran and discover the relentlessness with which non-Muslims are vilified in its pages. The idea that Islam is a “peaceful religion hijacked by extremists” is a dangerous fantasy—and it is now a particularly dangerous fantasy for moderate Muslims to indulge." (Sam Harris)

Dinnerjacket may not hold the most power but I don't think the oppressed Iranians find him amusing. Someone asked on one of the news programs whether Condi Rice would be received at the University if Tehran. Would Barney Frank make it past the tarmac alive?

"Someone asked on one of the news programs whether Condi Rice would be received at the University if Tehran. Would Barney Frank make it past the tarmac alive?"

When Iran adopts something like the First Amendment, then you can make that comparison. Otherwise, you're comparing an apple to an eggroll.

    Cecelia,

Have you noticed that Chucky/Bob seems to have "disappeared"? Also, someone mentioned the other day that SLOB hasn't been around since he purported to be present at the protest last week. Maybe he just tired of us mortals. He used to be an interesting commenter but went extremely sour (in my opinion) to a point of rancidness.

    2:17

I think it goes beyond the First Amendment. I think it is more like the right to live.

    Cecelia,

That was me at 2:21. I can't believe it is that late.

Cecelia, I know you were a bit fond of him and that always mystified me. I assumed that you were away for awhile and missed his most repugnant chapter.

He earned my total and absolute contempt when he went on a rampage for a while about Ronald Reagan and his glee at Nancy Reagan having diapers (vividly described) flung at her and other equally abhorrent comments. If I remember correctly he frequently used the phrase "Real Raygun RepubliCUNT" at that time, maybe even it was his signature.

    Grammie

I had to stop coming to this site in the daytime because of the obscene monikers. Regarding the Raygun comments, call it Karma, what goes around comes around or my dad's favorite, every dog has its day, that about sums it up for me.

Sharon. good to see you too.

So we have, how did those tolerant loving Dems describe us, "the Fag Hags; the harpies; the harridans; the three witches (I think that was a reference to Macbeth) here at the same time.

Oh dear, I hope the space time continuum isn't flung into The Twilight Zone because of our amassed evil powers. :)

    Grammie

It is truly amazing, the number of names we get called. We are the only women to identify ourselves as such (except for a female named KAF used to comment here) and the ones so concerned for the rights of others make the most disgusting comments. The most ironic part for me is that I have been told a number of times in my life that I am too soft and here I am a cold hearted, unfeeling wench (to some).

It is written on the stone tablet somewhere in Iceland that when the three converge at the twilight hour, the powers of hell shall be unleashed. Cecelia may have bowed out so the world is safe . . . for now. I think I have to exit stage left next. Catch you again sometime.

Sharon, I can well understand your not coming to this site when your children are up and about and might see some of the profanity and just plain vileness here.

I like this site because it is so open. At the same time I am frequently repulsed by what that openness lets in totally unchecked. Even skimming the comment section can be unpleasant.

Surely there is a middle ground to allow for all opinions while keeping the extreme profanity and graphic sexual (it seems to be always homosexual) descriptions out, or at the very least a minimum.

As always your links are well worth pursuing.

    Thanks!

    Who's the terrorist?

"A Pentagon group has encouraged some U.S. military snipers in Iraq to target suspected insurgents by scattering pieces of "bait," such as detonation cords, plastic explosives and ammunition, and then killing Iraqis who pick up the items, according to military court documents.

The classified program was described in investigative documents related to recently filed murder charges against three snipers who are accused of planting evidence on Iraqis they killed.

"Baiting is putting an object out there that we know they will use, with the intention of destroying the enemy," Capt. Matthew P. Didier, the leader of an elite sniper scout platoon attached to the 1st Battalion of the 501st Infantry Regiment, said in a sworn statement. "Basically, we would put an item out there and watch it. If someone found the item, picked it up and attempted to leave with the item, we would engage the individual as I saw this as a sign they would use the item against U.S. Forces." ..."

    Sounds like Saddam...

"For God's sake, kids, don't pick anything up"

    ###
It's not "anything," blindrat. Snipers are not shooting children picking up stones, picking flowers or scavaging junk....It is "bait" for insurgents that the professional and honorable US soldier is watching over and I trust his/her judgement....Do you?

What would that "bait" that be?...

"detonation cords, plastic explosives and ammunition."

    ###
Oh I am sure American troops are really looking to kill civilians in cold blood and the bait would NEVER attract someone with the intention to illegally use it to terrorize the Iraqi people or kill the security forces, including American troops.

Once again, blindrat is quick to swallow the leftist propaganda of US evil tactics....even labeling our troops as terrorists!

I'll answer the question you posed, blindrat....

The terrorist is not the US sniper or his immediate commanders....it is the Al Queda member, Sunni insurgent or Shia radical who targets civilians of different relgious beliefs and our brave soldiers for merciless execution.

I assume by your post you think the Americans are terrorists.

Mr. Sparling spoke at a smaller rally held earlier in the day at the United States Navy Memorial, and voiced his support for the administration's policies in Iraq. Examiner Exclusive: Bush quietly advising Hillary Clinton, top Democrats

"One topic discussed by the White House and Democratic presidential campaigns is whether such a long-term presence should be inside Iraq, as Clinton prefers, or just outside, as Democratic candidate John Edwards has suggested.

"Asked by The Examiner whether the Democrats were reluctant to have private contacts with the administration, the White House official replied: 'No, I think they sort of welcome conversation.'

"Besides, he said, Democrats understand the negative consequences of moving too quickly to reverse Bush’s Iraq policy. The official noted that in the wake of Vietnam, anti-war Democrats 'suffered for 20-some-odd years because they were identified as the party, when it came to national security, of being weak.'

"'If I were a Democrat, I would not want to be in a place where I was forcing us to withdraw in ’08,' he said. 'It’s an election year and any bad consequences would immediately be on their head.

"'One of two things will happen if a Democrat gets elected president,' he said. 'They will either have to withdraw U.S. troops in order to remain true to the rhetoric — in which case, any consequences in the aftermath fall on their heads. Or they have to break their word, in which case they encourage fratricide on the left of their party. Now that’s a thorny issue to work through.'

"Vice President Dick Cheney was philosophical about the possibility of a Democratic president fundamentally reversing the policies that he and Bush have worked so hard to implement in Iraq.

"'It’s the nature of the business, in a sense,' he shrugged during an interview in his West Wing office. 'I mean, you get two terms. We were fortunate to get two terms. And I think we’ll increasingly see a lot of emphasis on deciding who the next occupant of the Oval Office is going to be.'"

    ###
    He, he, he, he.

Here's another Bush story Keith could have used Monday, but didn't: Seems that Hillary and other Democratic candidates are getting advice from the White House on limiting their campaign rhetoric, based on the possibility that the missus might be president come 2009 and actually have to deal with all of the current world issues:

    http://www.examiner.com/a-953145~Bush_quietly_advising_Hillary_Clinton__top_Democrats.html

Of course, to mention this would leave Keith in a quandary, since he's a big supporter of the Clintons, but knows his core demographic at best is disappointed in her failure to oppose the Iraq war in stronger terms and at worst hate her almost as much as some on the far right, for being a sellout to corporate interests, campaign donation lobbyists and other non-approved special interests.

As long as Edwards and Obama continue to hold their fire on going after Hillary full bore, this isn't a bad strategerie for Olbermann. But if either of the two both continue to igrone Bush's advice and finally do start going after Hillary for not ignoring it and for being too comfortable with Republican positions, the selective editing of those news stories on "Countdown" aren't going to make a lot of Keith's current fans happy.

Wow, cee! You are long-winded, today, son...

The policy is a terrorist policy. Already three soldiers are being prosecuted for murder under the plan. Try not being stupid...

    3M,

I don't need to be a judge to read that they already ADMITTED that this is a policy...

"The policy is a terrorist policy"

    ###
    Blindrat...you asked, "Who's the terrorist?"

    Not "what is terrorism?"

Try to be consistent in your arrogant pronouncements, ma'am....The sniper's baiting the enemy has been done before and if individuals are found not to have used proper procedure in the execution of a perfectly acceptable military tactic, I trust the judicial system will be fair....

You, however, seem quick to judge these men as "terrorists." Nice.

Where are the democratic party apologists this morning?

    Hello, Mike?

    Hello, mental midget?

Where are the defenders of the American left's ruling class as they fumble and dawdle.....the US troops need to be brought home immediately!

"The sniper's baiting the enemy has been done before and if individuals are found not to have used proper procedure in the execution of a perfectly acceptable military tactic, I trust the judicial system will be fair...."

Witness the moral clarity of Cee. It's been done before, so it's O.K.

Note to patriotic scoundrel: Shooting someone on sight because you make an assumption about his intentions, based on an act defined and set up by you, is not acceptable at all in any context.

Note to tactical dumbkopf: How are you going to like this tactic when wily bad guys figure out that you can take out enemies and serve propaganda by forcing captives to go and take the bait? Let the U.S. do your executions for you.

Everyone in Iraq wants weapons...on this basis, we should just withdraw and nuke. Hey, it's been done before, right captain Christian? Hell...the entire "success" of the surge in Anbar is based on Iraqis with unauthorized weapons suddenly deciding to use them in a way we like.

I think that's a little overboard Cecelia. You have to figure that 90% or more of the people who try to take bait weapons like that are probably up to no good. Yes, maybe 10% are people who we don't want dead or who themselves would use the weapons against our enemies, but then figure the damage that will probably be caused by that 90% and you can see that it is a good tradeoff.

Another interview where Olbermann goes on about how great he is (and gets along great with his co-workers--probably comes as a shock to them(!) and how horrible everyone else is).

One place where we diverge, Cecelia, is on these questions of what you have to do to win.

I don't know how many of you are old enough to remember WWII, but in that great conflict entire companies of men would basically be sacrificed to the jaws of the Huns machine guns in order to take out one battery. Those were real men. They didn't worry about whether the numbers added up, they did what they had to for God and country, and that is why we won.

The greatest generation didn't tie themselves in knots over these kind of questions. Sometimes you have to use bait to catch a rat. Sometimes you accidentally poison the cat. But Victory is worth it. Trust me, I was there in the streets when WWII ended. Now that was a party!

Our only true enemy is GW BUSH.

    cee,

    Yeah, dummy...

"Who" is the terrorist? Bush is the terrorist. His military, his policy...

Do I really have to explain everything to you?

I have no problem with a US Marine or US Army sniper making the judgement with someone going after clear bait, Cecelia. They are well trained and the use of snipers to secure an area is within the rules of civilized combat. The red herring of baiting an innocent is only used on this board to go to the "America is the true terrorist." I will not swallow that tripe.

The policy is under the strict use of professional, American troops. It is used in areas of know insurgent activity and, again, the rules of engagement are enforced.

To make the huge leap to moral equivalence is wrong....Who is the terrorist? Do you agree, Cecelia?

Change is good for Olbermann as he tackles new challenges by Erik Spanberg

Why did you decide to do “Football Night in America”?
OLBERMANN:"....It doubles as a great cross-promotion for my news program."

I'm no shrinking violet Grammie, but even I can see that if you really do poison the cat then you haven't helped your rat problem much.

And I do have a problem with this unilaterally deciding what the numbers behind the "tradeoffs" "probably" are and signing death warrants on those decisions.

But maybe I was a bit harsh with Cee. He'll forgive me.

So with your logic, blindrat, the head is the terrorist....but those executing the policy are not....again....I love the troops, but not the policy canard.

OK....so the hijackers on 9/11 were not terrorists. Only OBL is the terrorist....his group, his policy.

Be careful now, blindrat....you love those rhetorical traps....You asked, "Who is the terrorist." Only Bush? How about General Petraeus? How about the generals and colonels? Does your judgement cover everyone except the grunt?

    Why? How is that logical?

Olbermann insults more people at September 25, 2007 11:17 AM

sorry, oimp, I didn't see that you already posted this interview...

Good, wannawipe....you are really starting to think like those evil neocons. Now, why are the democratic candidates not being specific about their plans for troops in Iraq when they win and run the executive branch? Especially the huge front runner....HRC?

I know it is hard for you not to talk about Bush....but these dems are just getting short changed in your brilliant analysis, wannawipe!

"To make the huge leap to moral equivalence is wrong....Who is the terrorist? Do you agree, Cecelia?"

You know I never agree with that Cee. My family is military and you simply can't equate their professionalism with terrorism and the very idea is abhorrant to me.

But you should know too Cee that bad policies do come down under pressure which qualify the professionalism of our forces, too, and you should know enough about me that I don't go for that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" that you are basically arguing on. A bad conflict can poison our military. I've seen it. I don't want to see it again, and I'm not going to support it just to stay on the "right" team. Laying a gun out and shooting whoever picks it up because you infer their intentions is both stupid and wrong.

    >>Be careful now, blindrat....you love those rhetorical traps....You asked, "Who is the terrorist." Only Bush? How about General Petraeus? How about the generals and colonels? Does your judgement cover everyone except the grunt?

What a quandry, cee! I wonder how they figured it out at Nuremburg, son... Or, do you think that they killed the ENTIRE GERMAN ARMY? Why do I have to explain the obvious to you?

Our soldiers have to follow orders regardless or they will be punished. The 9/11 hijackers had the luxury of electing to go to the authorities or simply running away...

    Answer the question rodent!

Look, I appreciate that insurgent war poses real problems for the army, and it makes sense to exercise some American entrepreneurial spirit in trying to fix it. The problem is that all of these “solutions” strike me as tactics smart (if that) and strategy foolish. In both cases the obvious likelihood of false positives (most cities hire people to pick up street trash) pretty much ensures that the system will casually murder any number of innocents among the actual hostiles. We would go berserk if someone operated that way on American soil and we shouldn’t accept it in Iraq.

Holy crap! check out the cover of the current "The Nation" issue (Bill-O ain't gonna like it):

    http://www.thenation.com/issue/20071008

BTW, The Nation does advertise on Countdown.

    anon,

If you had any grasp of American history, you'd know that I answered the question, child...

That might be a good point, John, but the real point is that this isn't just life down at the mall. This is a war zone. We simply can't conduct ourselves the way one would hope in the best case, because it isn't the best case. I also have profound objections, as a Catholic, to your insinuation that U.S. soldiers "casually murder." They do not sir. That kind of talk is not acceptable to me as an American and a Catholic.

    Answer it!
    Troops- terrorists or not?
    General- terrorist or not?
    Bush- terrorist or not?

As an American, ANY kind of talk should be acceptable to you.

And, tactics like the ones described won't go very far to convince people that our constitutional democracy is anything but an abstract term...

The Nation Article headline proclaims Olbermann is "whooping the competition and changing the face of news"

Yet it only mentions that it is the highest rated show on the ratings challenged network MSNBC. Whooping who?

Seems like the headline is so contrived its a satire.

And when they say changing the face of news, The Nation article is an example of this very change. Lies and distortions are created which attempt to frame a preconcieved notion and headline. News on MSNBC and at The Nation is all fluff and no substance.

    anon,

    Bush, definitely a terrorist...

    Generals, depends upon their orders...

    Troops, depends upon their behavior...

Now, let me ask you something, child. Define what a terrorist is.

If you cannot, perhaps you should avoid using a word that you do not understand...

Oh the poor insurgents, can't they pick up explosives to kill troops in peace? Every insurgent should be able to make explosives in peace. Only if they use them should they be given lawyers and a trial.

Sarcasm is used when you have nothing of value to say...

    Thanks for illustrating that, Factor!

No sarcasm is used to illistrate the stupidity of your agrument when you attack our troops by convicting them of crimes when you have no evidence. You give the benifit of the doubt to insurgents though.

I have the moral high ground, wannawipe...George Bush presents his policy, allows debate, consitutionally goes to congress for its funding, receives the money, implements the policy, comes back with the results and reapplies....

Your ruling class claim the Bush policy is flawed, immoral, wrong, a loser, etc. etc. etc....then fund it.

Who is being real and honest, wannawipe? Who is saying one thing and doing something else?

I agree with Bush and disagree with you and the fringe left about immediate withdrawal despite military recommendations and the needs of the Iraqi government security. So, your attempt to couch my position as silly is actually making my point.....my leader's actions MATCH his rhetoric....

Your leaders flounder, wish for the best, perhaps even pray things change.....

but do NOTHING politically risky to accomplish their stated goals.

Poor wannawipe...you have missed 90% of what I have posted here at OW regaridng Iraq....you are dim....

"People of America: the world is following your news in regards to your invasion of Iraq, for people have recently come to know that, after several years of tragedies of this war, the vast majority of you want it stopped. Thus, you elected the Democratic Party for this purpose, but the Democrats haven't made a move worth mentioning. Democratic Senator Harry Reid, 9/24/07

In America, son, if something is lying on the street, we can pick it up without fear of our own government killing us. Until we give Iraqis the same rights that we have, they are simply a puppet and democracy is a lie to the people there.

Got it, child? You ASSUME anyone that would pick it up would be an insurgent. You don't kill on that basis.

In America, EVERYONE gets the benefit of the doubt. That is why the American snipers are getting trials. Why didn't their victims?

Keep trying to win the Jack Murtha award for throwing the military and the troops under the bus. No proof is needed. Just news paper articals are need to convict.

On "This Week With George Stephanopoulos," Clinton could have vowed to vacate Iraq. Instead, she delivered hawkish mini-speeches that few Republicans would object to. She listed a series of threats and interests in the region and made it clear that she’d be willing to keep U.S. troops there to handle them.

The troops are not going anywhere if her thighness wins the election. Keep marching zombies.

"You may think they are littering school yards with guns and bombs, but, they aren't. They are conducting these operations in the worst of the worst areas, only. Areas where terrorists are known to reside and travel."

Oh I guess it's O.K. then. I mean, since these areas are only full of terrorists, and since we know who they are and who the innocents are, then it makes perfect sense. We need to lay these traps because only then can we distinguish who is guilty and innocent in areas where they are all probably guilty, or at least it's easy for anyone to tell. That's why we need the trap. To separate the guilty from the innocent in areas where there are only guilty people-- if they pick up the gun, that is. No innocent would pick up the gun in an area where there are mostly guilty people, and if they do then we just don't shoot those ones. Makes sense now.

I guess this is how this stuff happens.

This is the part I love:

"They are conducting these operations in the worst of the worst areas, only."

Amazing how all the wingers just know everything there is to know about this secret program. It kind of shows you how bankrupt this whole group is...they will argue anything on the basis of their overarching faith in government. And this time, the authority isn't even saying that yet. They are going beyond the usual parrot approach and getting into creative faith-based defense, telling the administration what to tell them. Beautiful.

The mindless defense of authority is the last refuge of a coward.

Cecelia, you are over reacting. I highly doubt our troops would shoot a child, for instance, if they were seen retrieving materials. As cowardly as the terrorists are they are well known for making children do their dirty work (guinea pigs)for them such as couriers.

patsy, I'm curious. How do you decide, or, what dictates the circumstance in which you decide which name to use or post anon?

    Liberal Hypocrisy

So much for free speech the liberals have been screaming about the last few days in regards to Amadidajihadist. The Clintons have succeeded in blocking a negative story that was to come out in GQ magazine. Shocker......

Seems logical to me to assume that you girls are speaking from below the belt and back a mite...

I can't believe Oblyfuck hasn't made a big deal out of Jena, LA. I see Mr. Fudge Stick, Ray Nagin" found the time to take off from his stealing tax payers money, feeding his gluttony, awarding his family and friends, his incompetency and mismanagement of rebuilding New Orleans to attend the big racist rally in Jena. I'm real impressed with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and their attention to the problems in their community especially since 70% of blacks are born out of wedlock, 25% of young black males behind bars and only 30% graduate and they are down their whining about Jena or picketing a gun shop in Chicago. If Jackson and Sharpton represent black people they are doomed.

Someone needs to have told the black dude with the KKK costume how to spell KKK. He could have asked Robert Byrd if he didn't know how to spell. "There's only three K's in KKK you fucking idiot".

The problem with you RK is that you never react at all, which is what makes your defense of a defensibe war worthless to friend and foe alike. Your morality is defined by your enemies and is never summoned up as long as you can still think of something worse. "Yeah, we might have a policy that leads us to accidentally shoot innocents, but we would never..."

As always, Redneck has got nothin'...

To all clear thinkers everywhere, it's obvious the main difference between AHMADINEJAD and BUSH is more geographic and less ideological.

Oh, and the man from Iran has a better tan.

"So much for free speech the liberals have been screaming about the last few days in regards to Amadidajihadist. "

Amadinijad is diminished today by what happened yesterday, here, inside Iran, and throughout the world. It took liberal values and a liberal institution to do it. Hopefully some of the more thoughtfull wingers on here will take a lesson and understand that actually practicing American values is how we win. Running from clowns like him and "refusing to be used for propaganda" reeks of the fear and mental smallness that begets it. It shows that you believe in propaganda more than truth, that you have no faith in your own values.

Cecelia, I noticed you had no criticism of Sharon's post in which she has a similar view as me........

What evidence do you have of this program's rules of engagement being in violation of previously accepted norms? From what I read from WaPo, the Rangers used these tactics to advance security in areas where the Iraqi/US forces were getting heavy casualities AND they still request clearance for shots by their officers.

Bush is a terrorist based on this latest revelation? This is the issue I have with the anti-Troop left rush to judgement.

Marines Denied Permission To Film CommercialOn The Streets Of San Francisco
    By Dan Noyes
SAN FRANCISCO, Sep. 24, 2007 (KGO) - New York said "yes," but we said "no." Why were the U.S. Marines denied permission to film a recruiting commercial on the streets of San Francisco?

San Francisco is, once again, the center of a controversy over how city leaders treat the U.S. military. This time, it involves an elite group of Marines who wanted to film a recruitment commercial in San Francisco on the anniversary of 9/11.

The tension has been building in the two weeks since the city turned away members of the Silent Drill Platoon, and it boiled over Monday afternoon at a meeting of the San Francisco Film Commission.

The U.S. Marine Silent Drill Platoon performed Monday morning in New York's Times Square. They filmed part of a recruitment commercial through the start of the morning rush hour -- something they could not do in San Francisco on the anniversary of 9/11.

"It's insulting, it's demeaning. This woman is going to insult these young heroes by just arbitrarily saying, 'no, you're not going to film any Marines on California Street," said Captain Greg Corrales of the SFPD Traffic Bureau.

    Grammie,

The "style" thing is not as evident to me.

What sends up red flags in my mind is putting little buzzwords like "dumbkopf"...into the mouth of the person they're impersonating...in order to imply that this person is Nazi-like.

I think most of us go through life hoping that things are BETTER than they seem. That opponents are really more rational in real life or at the very least are very well-intended, etc.

It always creepy to encounter the people online who wish their political opponents to be worst than appearances would indicate. These creeps rationalize name-jacking by telling themselves that how they portray opponents is what these people are truly like, but are too dishonest to publicly exhibit.

It's a dirty trick from a "dirty" mind.

Why do you want people to go to a link that has only out-of-context quotes from someone with an axe to grind? If you were intellectually honest (not a common feature of the average OlyPologist) you would invite people to hear the ENTIRE segment, including the parts CNN cut out. Then everyone could make a judgment with all the facts.

But you didn't offer that link. So I will. Here is not just the parts Olby or CNN wants you to hear, but the ENTIRE O'Reilly segment:

He opened the show with Media Matters, CNN and MSNBC re the racist charges. His first guest was Juan Williams because Mr Williams was on his radio show for the hour long, I think, discussion about racism.

The show coincided with Mr Williams' paperback release of his book Enough. Their conversation was enlightening.

Surprisingly it was Mr Williiams who was close to sputtering angry over what amounts to lies told by Media Matters and picked up by CNN and MSNBC. Bill O was the calm one in this discussion.

I went to this link and listened until the time he said Juan Wlliams was going to be his shortly:

    http://www.billoreilly.com/blog?action=viewBlog&blogID=-514007249730622364

If there was any racism there I didn't detect it and obviously neither did Mr Williams.

Some of you guys need to get a little perspective and when you read such outrageous charges go do a little research in some source documents before shooting your mouth off and accusing everyone else of moral failures.

John Doll, you stole my thunder.

My lower lip is quivering and I feel some starting to well up. :)

    Grammie

Since you mentioned that fiery segment with Juan Williams, I'll shamelessly plug myself as I've posted the video of it:

John Doll, it is obvious to me.

    Great minds think alike. :)

    Grammie

OK, so the O'Reilly people hate the blacks and the Olbermann people hate the Jews. We're all racists. So now that we settled that can we just simmer down a little?

Fuknugat, sorry but no deal from me.

I grant that all have cultural preferences and bias but that does not equate to flat out statements that everyone hates.

That kind of charge should be focused on specifics to the people involved.

Frankly, I am getting tired of being told daily that I am a racist, bigot, homophobe etc based on the writer's own hangups.

If you can find anything to tar me with that brush bring it on.

Otherwise, SHUT YOUR YAP about me.

    Grammie

Janet, the olbyloon de jour has resorted to smear tactics the same way philby and mike did to me a while back claiming I "hated our troops" and claiming I said that "not enough of them had died" with absolutely no proof, whatsoever. They just flat made it up, well, philby did and mike had no problem joining in on the lie, no surprise. That's what they do when they can't defend Olbermahn. It's a last resort tactic. Sad, but, ever so true.

But Jeff, you DO hate the troops!

    Hee, hee, hee!

Like I was saying, once a liar, always a liar. Desperate, at that.

Jeff, Jeff, Jeff.....denying that you hate the troops won't change the unfortunate reality that you DO hate the troops.

No proof? Shocked, stunned and amazed.

The "proof" is in the 'you hate the troops' pudding.

"Who is the Loon du Jour carrying on a conversation with himself posing as other posters?

It is I, Cecelia. What is funny is that giving all the ridiculous words I stuffed into your pompous know-it-all mouths, the only thing any of you actually can find to object to is the term "dumkopf" which is only "Nazi" if you equate every word in the german language with Nazi's. What clowns. The fact is, all the sentiments expressed were exactly what you would express if you weren't too lazy and just wanted to spend your whole life complimenting each other for being only mildly retarded mentally lazy "conservatives."

I guess that's not 100% true. The only way Cecelia would have actually stood up for what she believes is if she felt feisty that day and was tired of the team thing.

"Frankly, I am getting tired of being told daily that I am a racist, bigot, homophobe etc..."

O.K., then I have an idea for you, Miss 1938...how about you quit acting like a racist bigot homophobe etc.?

Beautiful use of context removal, little Mikey. Keep at it and you will graduate to MSNBC or NPR soon. The liberal mind at work, folks.

Janet, the 11:30 AM post was NOT mine! This is my first post since late last night.

I just returned from a conference where everyone was trying to sell communications services to the U.S. Army, and I discovered something startling. Most soldiers are arrested adolescence dickhead fratboys who really only want to get away from their wives and children for a while and have an honorable excuse for philandering and acting like assholes. So when it comes to the majority of them, I really do hate the troops. I hope they stay over there for the next twenty years, which is pretty much what they want and pretty much the Bush plan.

I guarantee when they come back the murder and rape rates go up. Explain that one, troop lovers!

Well I can't say I would be surprised either way, mike. A crazy liberal accusing me of racism, or a crazier liberal pretending to be a crazy liberal accusing me of racism. It's a crazy liberal world, folks.

The funniest thing is that on the one hand the liberals impersonate us to make us look worse, and on the other they impersonate themselves and make themselves look worse.

There is something in the liberal genes that just makes everything worse than it is.

Well Janet, I have a lot of friends and family that would be pretty surprised to find out I was "crazy".

Thanks for your sniping acknowledgment that I too, am being duped by the same name jacker you are. It does make me wonder if I should have even bothered to disown that comment.

Well I see our 'Sybill' (sp) has been at it again.

Mike, sheit is the crazy one. Come on you should know better than to believe some of this tripe and not recognizing it as a hoax.

John Doll verified that he had hijacked four posters having a conversation with himself. Looks like he just expanded his horizons.

    Grammie

To each his own, Chicken Blogger.

    Grammie

Lets take a quick look at the history between Grammie and I, since she just unilaterally chose to call me "crazy".

    1) - Today: She responds with an uncalled for "Little Mikey" retort to an out of the blue attack on her character that is obviously not characteristic of me, .... without ever questioning the source, even though she was fully aware that a name jacker is present. When corrected on her mistake, she responds not apologetically, but with a snipe at my sanity.

    2) - Months ago, while debating the human side of the war, which is obviously something she would rather not be bothered with, Grammie found it offensive when I dared to questioned the humanity of those who started this war based on lies, and are still keeping it going based on deception and unprovable predictions. For some reason, Grammie took it personally that I would question the humanity of a leader who would do this, because in her mind, that meant I was questioning HER humanity as well...simply because she suported them. My subsequent refusal to back down on that point because in HER mind, that also meant I was questioning HER humanity too. This obviously hurt her poor little feelings.

    3) - a few days Later, when she dredged up a quote of mine in a failed attempt to prove her assertion that I had claimed that she had "backed me into a corner", she failed to notice that my actual words were that she had "tried to back me into a corner", and NOT that she had actually done it. Yes, Grammie, HOW words are arranged IS important! When called on that obvious error, her feelings were demonstably hurt once again.

    4) - Then one day I made a rather innocent and I believe, rather humerous "groupe" joke concerning the 'triumphant' return of Johnny Dollar. That remark was actually intended to try to lighten things up a little, .... and her fragile little feelings were once again inexplicably damaged.

I believe THAT was when she made her very silly public pronouncement that she would not 'speak' to me anymore (a pronouncement she has since broken BTW).

Yet, in all of that time, AND since, I have never demeaned her, her name, her age, or her sanity.

And yet this same woman just called ME "crazy" with an unprovoked personal attack!

Kinda like when you said you were gonna leave and never come back, little mikey? ( A pronouncment you have since broken BTW) Yes, you have demeaned her on several occasions.

Mike, I read the first sentence of the first paragraph of your response and opted to go no further for now and respond to it.

    Yesterday I posted this:

"RK, someone hijacked my name earlier and I thought made a respectable job of imitating my style. I thought he was less competent in the others.

There followed in close order posts from Cecelia, Sharon and Cee. I know I didn't the posts in question and I am virtually certain that the Sharon and Cecelia posts were counterfeit and possibly a Cee post.

I posted the following earlier but you may have missed it.

"Who is the Loon du Jour carrying on a conversation with himself posing as other posters?

Its astounding what amuses some people here. Totally lame!

And we had this response from J$:

"You are correct. One person has been talking to himself or herself as Ceceiia, Sharon, John, and Grammie. The IP address does not match up with any previously posted comments.

Now what is it that you don't understand about this. NAMES (MANY NAMES) WERE HIJACKED!

I won't read the rest of your post until you have time to respond to this.

    Grammie

I already "responded" to "this", Janet. See #1 above.

Or....Janet....are you telling me that the 11:46 response under "janet Hawkins" was not yours either?

If so, I will take your word for it and even apologize.

    My God, hes got it!

    Grammie

O.K. Janet, I see the score and apologize. I guess it's just some Al Qaeda like figure trying to start a civil war to prevent the usual unity of OW (HAHA).

Well, we need to insist on victory, right?

"just some Al Qaeda like figure trying to start a civil war"

I'm surprised you would parrot the horrid criminal lies of the filthy and unspeakably unholy Bush administration, mike. Don't you know there is no such thing as Al Qaeda in Iraq? You must have missed your huffingpops this morning. Don't let it happen again.

    MMmmmmmmmm.....Huffingpops!

Was that really you at 3:23, Cecelia?

If so, what quote are you using to bait me, and where did it come from?

I see now.....the name jacking continues at 3:15, which wasn't me again.

Whoever you are name jacker, you are acting like a total jerk, but I'm sure you think this is all one great big giggle, don't you?

^ no Mike, that is not Cecelia...at this time she's still in a drunken haze. (Might be her maid though.)

mike, not a peep when patsy does it (namejacks), shocker.

Was that really you at 3:23, Cecelia?
