Olbermann Watch, "persecuting" Keith since 2004

MSM KO Bandwagon: Olbermann Says Fox News Worse than Al Qaeda & KKK
    DrudgeSiren.gif

The October Issue of Playboy has the latest Mainstream Media spin on how Olbermann is a "great success". Inside Cable was the first to report on the Playboy article which contains the quote (among others) that

Al Qaeda really hurt us, but not as much as Rupert Murdoch has hurt us, particularly in the case of Fox News. Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda--worse for our society. It's as dangerous as the Ku Klux Klan ever was
    .

Olbermann is seriously comparing Fox News to Al Qaeda and the Ku Klux Klan????? When was the last time that Fox News used airplanes to topple buildings and kill thousands of innocent people? When was the last time Rupert Murdoch was responsible for the murder of thousands of American civilians on American soil? When was the last time Fox News or Murdoch burned a cross on anyone's front yard? Answer? Never. Not one. But that doesn't stop the Olbyspin Machine. Read on!

Olbermann also writes off more than half his audience with this statement:

People over 25 have no money; people over 54 are set in their ways and understand that advertising is largely bullshit. It's fine to have viewers outside that group, but they don't cout as much. They're like people who get free tickets to a ball game.

Then he takes a slam at his own fan groups, such as they are, with the announcement that he only wants the "hot ones" oogling him.

There are chat rooms that get bawdy. One group of women will start analyzing the issues but soon it will devolve into talk about my tie and what they'd like to do about removing my tie. That's a strange thing about TV, it's like being on the wrong side of a one-way mirror. You don't know if it's a group of Jennifer Lopezes out there undressing with you with their eyes or a bunch of Leona Helmsleys.
Keith we've seen photos of some of your fans. A more apt comparison would be a bunch of Mama Cass Elliots.

And I was particularly amused when ole' Keith weighed in on how much smarter his sports audience is than his "news" audience:

Sports fans aren't dumber than the rest of America. They're smarter. It's the rest of America that believes in crazy plots. But the sports fan is reality-based.
Gee, guess this is why the sports fans at the NBC Football boards can't stand your guts. Neither can these guys. And Newsday isn't too wild about him either. Maybe that's got something to do with the fact that last night he apparently made a racially offensive remark about a black player? And this is the guy who is comparing Fox to the KKK?

And then there was this unbelievable comment about what the Republican party plans for 2008 and beyond, totally devoid of facts to back up his BS statement of course:

We will see a draft if the Republicans win in 2008, because they've got a plan to invade very country except Liechtenstein but not enough shoulders to do it. To get enough soldiers they would need a draft. And that would be interesting. You'd have rioting in the streets within 48 hours.

And this one just made us laugh as it's not only a contradiction in terms, it's total Olby doublespeak:

I went to an ACLU dinner with 700 lawyers, 700 honest lawyers. . . .

    And finally there was this:

    I'm unbearable in the morning
No Keith, you're unbearable and unbelievable at any hour of the day.

    ###
......to a white, upper class leftist elitist living in Manhattan during the 21st century.....

Another ignorant statement from the narcissistic baseball card collector.

Gee, wasn't it just a few weeks ago that Olby bellowed that Mr Bill was "worst person" because he compared comments in the Daily Kos to...the KKK?

Will Olby name himself worst person tonight? Will Media Matters attack him a half-dozen times, like they did O'Reilly, for making a comparison to the Klan?

    Well,

That was an intersting (& yet fantastically idiotic) statement to make. I'd be curious as to the response the folks in the legal department of Fox News will make.

God help all Playboy readers if there's a pictorial to go with the story...

    More from the interview:

    "We watch movies at home."

"One night Katy and I crashed in front of the TV during an Arrested Development marathon."

This is F*ching Playboy, do the readers really want to hear how a 48 year old fat-a$$ is sitting around watching TV with a 23 year old?

In the past didn't he brag about her being a "freelance TV producer"....my, what an exciting "TV" power couple these idiots are.

Anyone know the exact quote about waffles and chicken?

"Al Qaeda really hurt us, but not as much as Rupert Murdoch has hurt us, particularly in the case of Fox News. Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda--worse for our society. It's as dangerous as the Ku Klux Klan ever was."

I have a feeling he will get a pass on this (although, he certainly should not). Just imagine if you attributed this quote to Charlie Gibson, Katy Couric, Watler Kronkite, Lou Dobbs, Cooper Anderson, Brain Williams, any 60 minutes reporter/anchor. It sounds ridiculous, doesn't it. But have Olbermann say it and its OK---why?--because he's the left's Bill O'Reilly/Limbaugh, and unlike those guys, Olbermann will get away with this.

Good Lord, must keith spew every democratic talking point? enough with the fox news is evil thing. I worked there for 7 years and never encounterd a nicer group of people behind the scenes. I like to think we gave the audience a little bit more credit that that. This idiot is so wrapped up in his own delusional world he has to resort to Al queda and KKK references.

When you have no explanation for success and all you can do is resort to fox news is evil, you have no argument to begin with. The people at fox news worked their asses off and continue to work their asses off

What an idiot. I have a fleeling this will not boost his image or ratings.

Please. The MSM will give him a big fat pass on this just like every other stupid thing he says.

    Keith Olbermann to PLAYBOY....

"When you've been through as much tumult as I have, you learn that age is way down on the list of what's important in a relationship. The first question is, Can you stand being with this person? If the answer is yes, the rest doesn't matter."

    ###
Words to live by......I have to write this wisdom down so I can pass it along to my daughter just before she walks down the aisle.....

    Oh, what a wise man!

Not worth getting in a tissy about.
    Nobody reads the articles anyways.

Lump KeithO into the class of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton... you just shake your heads while these 3 still get headlines. They collectively dumb down their audiences with each publicity stunt, saying more insane stuff each time. Yet the press eats it up?

" I don't usually single out candidates for praise or brickbats," Keith Olbermann

Here is a new lie from Olbermann in the PB interview.

That Fox statement is probably the dumbest thing I've anyone say in ages.I bet he's forced to make apublic humiliating apology.

That Fox statement is probably the dumbest thing I've anyone say in ages.I bet he's forced to make a public ,humiliating apology.

    Sure:

The Washington Times can run an editorial advocating the assassination of Hillary Clinton, but no one here demands they apologize.

Bill O'Reilly can call Moveon.org thugs and assassins, but no one here demands he apologize.

But Keith Olbermann is the devil and everything he does demands he get on his knees, grovel and beg forgiveness.

You people need some fuckin' perspective, you know that?

Comment from the NBC sports fan boards:
Phil Today, 10:59 AM Post #19
"Like many of you, I was sent here via a link from Sean Hannity's forum over a week ago. And at the time I was egged on by the gang to post about how Keith Olbermann is bad for SNF. But all I had to base it on was people I listened to such as Rush, Sean, and Bill O'Reilly. But after watching Mr Olberman a couple times on SNF, I thought his bits were funny, a little akward, but funny. So I went over and sampled his MSNBC show and I found myself agreeing with just about everything he said. I found his MSNBC show entertaining and informative. I'm glad NBC put him on SNF, I now have new news program to watch that is not rah, rah Bush and War all the time. I have a son and daughter serving in Iraq and they are telling me the truth. They told me not to believe the current administration, they want a Democrat in 2009. I'm starting to agree with them."

Goodness, Olbermann is getting hammered over there. And if this doesn't sound like some phoney "PR" comment (some else over there already pointed this out). But how stupid do they think people are---a Rush, Hanity & O'Reilly fan is suddently transformed by Keith Olbermann? Plus the having family serving in IRAQ is just down right creepy. I'll be honest, I only thought chicken hawk right wringers pulled this shit---really, all time low for the PR powers of Keith Oblermann & NBC.

Hey, courageous anonymous 3:40: don't forget to complain about the Starbucks that sold you coffee that wasn't hot enough. That's about the only irrelevancy you didn't bring up in your attempt to deflect and divert away from Herr Olbermann's repellent comments.

You people need some fuckin' perspective, you know that?
Posted by: at September 10, 2007 3:40 PM

You need to get a fuckin' name, how about loser.

Maybe you missed the idiot keith's perspective on Michael Vick...
Now that is someone that needs perspective.

    Johnny

Anytime, anywhere asshole. I would love to kick your face in. I'm tired of assholes like you and woud love to break every bone in your hand so you NEVER put another piece of shit on this horseshit blog.

I would expect such a shallow and cowardly reply from a loon. Expecially one that is afraid to post his own name. Pathetic loser.

    Anon, 3:50PM......

    Keith Olbermann....is that you again?

    Thanks for writing, Keith.

It's real easy to be "brave" when you're anonymous isn't it Olbyloon at 3:50 PM?

And for your information, the only "horseshit" we put up here on this blog was directly from Olbermann's mouth.

How about QWEEF reading a story about the Giant coach that he WROTE, then having to retract it at the half? HE WAS WRONG AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Olbermann seems to be averaging one retraction per NFL show . . . . or more. And this is the guy that the Libs claim is Murrow incarnate?

Yes....go see another fine representative of the left prepared to have a sane and intelligent discussion over the military mission currently underway in Iraq......

    http://michellemalkin.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/pinkosposter.jpg

Again....Stop the war...get the troops home....cut the funds NOW!

And this is my post today, the 1,594th day since the declaration of Mission Accomplished in Iraq.....

I am cee, good night and good luck.

"I'd tell you that the Democrats are talking a good game, but they're not even doing that. Everybody in Congress has to understand something: If they continue to fund this war, it's not just the President who owns it. They own it, too." Sgt. Liam Madden

"There were a few tense moments, however, including an encounter involving Joshua Sparling, 25, who was on crutches and who said he was a corporal with the 82nd Airborne Division and lost his right leg below the knee in Ramadi, Iraq. Mr. Sparling spoke at a smaller rally held earlier in the day at the United States Navy Memorial, and voiced his support for the administration's policies in Iraq. Later, as antiwar protesters passed where he and his group were standing, words were exchanged and one of the antiwar protestors spit at the ground near Mr. Sparling; he spit back." NYT 1/28/07

"I think the Vietnamese are better off in Vietnam," George McGovern - NEWSWEEK

"Lefties: Leave these pathetic drowning rats alone to stew in each other's juices. Get yourselves out in the street and fight this criminal administration in ways that really mean something, and that are noted by more than a handful of keyboard heroes!" Sir Loin of Beef

"American liberals need to face these truths: The demand for self-government was and remains strong in Iraq despite all our mistakes and the violent efforts of al Qaeda, Sunni insurgents and Shiite militias to disrupt it." DEMOCRAT Bob Kerrey

"If we end up saying that because these people are committing these acts of terrorism in Iraq or Afghanistan, that we shouldn't have done the removal of Saddam or the removal of the Taliban, then we are making a fundamental mistake about our own future, about security, about the values we should be defending in the world." TONY BLAIR

"You can't bring the troops home if you give George Bush $100 billion to wage this war. You're not supporting them. You're keeping them in harm's way." CINDY SHEEHAN

"There is no doubt ... that Al Qaeda is operating in Iraq. There is no doubt that we've had to take very strong measures against them. And there is no doubt that the Iraqi security forces have got to be strong enough to be able to withstand not just the violence that has been between the Sunni and the Shia population and the Sunni insurgency, but also Al Qaeda itself." GORDON BROWN

"People of America: the world is following your news in regards to your invasion of Iraq, for people have recently come to know that, after several years of tragedies of this war, the vast majority of you want it stopped. Thus, you elected the Democratic Party for this purpose, but the Democrats haven't made a move worth mentioning. On the contrary, they continue to agree to the spending of tens of billions to continue the killing and war there." OSAMA BIN LADEN

Wait a minute. Didn't Keith name somebody "Worst Person in the World" because they compared somebody to the KKK?

    > Didn't Keith name somebody "Worst Person in the World" because they compared somebody to the KKK?

Why yes he did. And more than once.

"I went to an ACLU dinner with 700 lawyers, 700 honest lawyers" KO

This man is empty from ear to ear. I rest my case.

    Two reasons:

    1) If you think for one second I'm going to give you my real name (even just my real first name), you're out of your damn mind.

    2) If I gave a internet name, you'd just find some way to make fun of it anyway. So why put up with the bullshit?

Besides, why do you even want to know? There is no way in hell I'm giving you any ammunition.

    OK- Francis!

Besides, why do you even want to know? There is no way in hell I'm giving you any ammunition.

good grief, what a loser. You are posting as an anon, how in the hell does making up a generic name take away your power. man are you really pathetic.

To get enough soldiers they would need a draft. And that would be interesting. You'd have rioting in the streets within 48 hours.

I love his choice of words. A riot would be "interesting". Not terrible or awful for our country, but intersting. Basically he's saying the draft would be neat cause it would mobalize americans violently against government and republicans.

And furthermore, HE ACTUALLY BELIEVES THAT REPUBS WOULD INVADE EVERY COUNTRY!!! I THOUGHT THIS CRAP WAS ONLY ON CONSPIRACY BLOGS!!! He didnt even say some (R), he said all of them.

Excellent article from the LA Times:

    MoveOn.org's slander of Gen. Petraeus
    By Hugh Hewitt

    http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-op-dustup10sep10,0,2788421,full.story

"...To allow such an imputation of dishonor to go unrebuked is to abet it. This is not some foaming blogger posting crazier and crazier squeals at Daily Kos in the hopes of attracting attention to an otherwise largely unnoticed existence, or a professional extremist like Glenn Greenwald or Keith Olbermann whose job in life is to provide the far reaches of the left with assurance that they too have representatives with bylines no matter how lunatic the position defended..."

People like Olbermann want to see riots on the streets so they can blame it all on the Republicans. That's the "unbiased" Olbermann for you.

Can you imagine the uproar if someone on Fox made such a generic comment about the Democratic party? Furthermore, can you imagine a Charlie Gibson or Katie Couric saying something like that about either party? The great thing about Olbermann is that he keeps spewing his verbal BS and one day his mouth is going to try to write a check even his fat ass won't be able to cash.

Listen to these neocons, bitching like their own right wing water carriers don’t do the same shit I do. Too bad! See, Danny Boy is the GM and he's nothing but a pointy headed Ivy League dork who got his brain filled with mush in law school so I can say whatever I want, as I long as I stick by the left wing playbook.

O'Reilly is a Nazi? No problem. Tell hecklers to kill themselves and f*** their mother? Bring it on. Chris Wallace is a monkey? Do it some more. Hand out checks to left wing politicians on the air? Sure. Getting my ass kicked 3-1 by O'Reilly's ratings every night? We don't care. Stuttering and stammering through the Minnesota bridge collapse coverage? It's OK man, we'll get the teleprompter back up and running tomorrow. Every guest agrees with me? Great, the neocons can suck an egg.

Hey life is great at MSNBC and I got a hot babe for a girlfriend who really thinks I'm wonderful . . . well, except she's always wanting me to "peform" , I mean what the hell does she think I am a piece of meat? I want her to love me for my brains and magnetic personailty and my full head of gray poofy hair. I wish she would understand, taking on these right wingers every night is REALLY stressful and she expects me to perform on schedule once a week, I'm really starting to wonder if this selfish ho needs to start hanging out with Brittney Spears and Linday Lohan.

Its still a ton of fun to check out the NBC messageboard.

Tons of mainstream america ripping the blowhard.
    Sprinkled with....
A good share of conservative complaing about his politics.
    But best of all...
A ton of loons attacking ANYONE against KeithyBoy.

You gotta love the apologists attacking anyone who dares to call their hero out.

Regardless of his politics, he has been a complete failure, starting with an idiotic rant about Vick that he had to apologize for only. Then he followed that with an incorrect report on the Giants. Is there a lazier pundit on TV? He pulls almost all of his reporting off of blogs, without research, which often opens him up for idiotic and false statements.

He is a true idiot- yet I feel still worthy of all the loon's praise... It just shows how stupid they are!

Benson: "He is a true idiot- yet I feel still worthy of all the loon's praise... It just shows how stupid they are!"

And here I thought YOU were above these sort of pathetic personal attacks!

Jeez, some of the comments actually STRONGLY agree with Keith Olbermann, saying Murdoch & FoxNews are worse than Al-Q.

    very sad. http://insidecable.blogsome.com/2007/09/10/uh-oh-3/

"Jeez, some of the comments actually STRONGLY agree with Keith Olbermann,"

Yes, it's called that uniquely patriotic and American principal of standing up for what you believe and not cowing down to the herd mentality, which is clearly what Fox and the right wingers want.

Just to make it easier for the fangirls to find the Playboy quotes:

    Playboy Interview of Keith Olbermann:
    (October 2007):

    Playboy: Are there Countdown Groupies?

Olbermann: There are chat rooms that get bawdy. One group of women will start analizing the issues, but soon it will devolve into talk about my tie and what they'd like to do after removing my tie. That's a strange thing about TV---it's like being on the wrong side of a one-way mirror. You don't know it its a group of Jennifer Lopezes out there undressing you with their eyes or a bunch of Leona Helmsleys.

Like I said, NBC dumb like a FOX!

    > Jeez, some of the comments actually STRONGLY agree with Keith Olbermann

Yes, Daily Kos posted an article telling its readers to go over to the ICN comment thread. See the update added to the original post for more.

    > standing up for what you believe and not cowing down to the herd mentality

Wait a minute, you say that immediately after Kos sends a herd of munchkins over to ICN to flood their thread? And you call it NOT a herd mentality? Hahaaaaaaaa! ROFL!

This rating bump stuff is very depressing. Shockingly no mention of Olbermann's Al-Q + KKK = FoxNews comment over at TVnewser. And they say that media coverage isn't biased.

"Yes, it's called that uniquely patriotic and American principal of standing up for what you believe"

    ###
So Mike, what is your opinion? Is FOX NEWS more dangerous than the KKK?

The man is nothing but a F-ing idiot.

The KO fanblogs are having a field day with the demo beat down of Bill-O. Happy day for the Loons, sad day for the rest of us sane folks.

Mike- i don't feel it is a personal attack unless I direct the derogatory statement at someone... for example- Tim you are an idiot.

Now when you say "you neocons are idiots"- i think it is a statement that isn't a personal attack- as I don't consider myself a neocon. I actually don't consider you a loon, mike. You do not defend ALL of Keith's actions, which in my book excludes you.

    Perspective needed-
Was it in the demo + DVR? Was Oreilley on?

i agree with that assesment benson. It takes only one non-confoming opinion to distiguish one from an apoligetic loon from an overzealous liberal.

I respect liberals. What i dont respect are apologists. Whether that be for a party or for a man. If the GOP is being retarded, I call a spade a spade. But i hate the idea that people have that Olby or Dems or GOP can do no wrong. Or worse, actually change their own previous opinions to conform to their party, leader, whatever.

Yes, it's called that uniquely patriotic and American principal of standing up for what you believe and not cowing down to the herd mentality, which is clearly what Fox and the right wingers want.

Well, consider what really being put forth by Keith, Mike. Then you decide whether it's a stand you want to take based on what Olbermann must be implying.

Is Olbermann ONLY suggesting that Fox News is throughly biased and that such bias is so pernicious that it's the equivalent of some conspiratorial underground enemy of our society and culture?

That on it's face, is a fairly hyperbolic and histrionic assessment, but consider that it cannot be what Olbermann means.

If Olbermann were concerned about "bias" would he write and host a show that unapologetically airs only one side of an argument? Would we host a show where 99% of his guests articulate his views on any subject? Would he contradict charges that such practices are indications of "bias" by arguing that he is not political or biased, but merely speaking the truth. He airs no other side because there is no valid factual "other side".

When Olbermann compares FNC to the hateful and murderous enemies of democracy, it's not one-sided news shows and hosts who wear there political allegiances on their sleeves or "bias" as such that he's condemning. It's the side that he feels FNC is biased TOWARDS that enrages Olbermann. If the whole of FNC conducted itself like an episode of Countdown, he'd consider the cable channel to be courageous and truth seeking.

What Olbermann is suggesting is that conservatives and chiefly the Republican Party are the equivalent of a hate group/enemy of the state and that Fox News is the propaganda machine of these enemies of freedom.

I don't think you can get any more shockingly partisan, blinkered and narrow-minded than that. Or any more hateful.

Before you imply that anyone, including the Kos Kids, are just rugged individualists seeking their own way, consider with what idea they're aligning themselves.

    Inside Cable News:
    The Factor #1 Friday night.

    http://insidecable.blogsome.com/2007/09/10/fridays-numbers-65/

Well anybody that has watched KO in the last 3 years knows he doesn't take Al Qaeda seriously he downplays every report of terrorist activity even after the London bombings so in his world FOX news is a greater threat....TO HIM!!!

Now of course KO will get away with it..he didn't get in trouble for the Nazi salute or his racial slams against Chris Wallace or Alberto Gonzalez..but KO can only be kept in check by MSNBC for so long...he will have an "Imus " moment..

Hell I'm still waiting for him to out himself as a 9/11 "Truther"..and tomorrow is Sept-11 he just has to have a "Special Comment about it..I'm sure on the lines of blasting Bush so maybe that will be when he says 9/11 was an inside job.

here's a legitmate question. Why are there like a dozen sites that keep ratings and why is everyone different from eachother? Isn't there like a ratings.com?

Its the hypocrites that I hate! And I feel KeithO is the biggest among the pundits. Hate or love Ann Coulter or Michelle Malkin... they are pretty consistant in their bashing of the liberals. Please- I don't subscribe to their hate...

Keith on one hand can bash someone for comparing someone to Hitler and a week later make a similar comparison. It's ridiculous for anyone to follow this religion of hypocrisy.

I think having to come up with 3 republicans to hate each day sets him up for this double standard. He reads the blue blogs for his material. These blogs excuse his hatred and slander, yet attack those who use it on the other side.

I think he is as crazy as OJ... really blind to his own hypocrisy. He is calling republicans more dangerous than Al Queda which may get headlines, but it is very irresponsible 'journalism'. Yet I am sure Ann Coulter has used the reverse analogy at some point in her rants. Neither is kosher.

Well people.....it has all been fun and games up to this point, but. Keith Olbermann has just crossed the line/went over the top. It now is all out war between the cable news networks and thats the fight he wants........WHAT A CHICKEN SHIT! A war of words, slander, name calling, the tools of the narcissistic, the condescending, and the psychotic. He has raised the rhetoric in his sick little game of "Fox baiting", Trying to get a reaction so as to have been acknowledged by some one larger and more powerful than he.........qustion is will they take the bait?

The ratings are consistant on most media watchdog sites... yet the left ones like to present the demos because it displays a smaller gap in their second place numbers. The problem with the left is they don't investigate their own propoganda. They just lap it up.

"The ratings are consistant on most media watchdog sites... yet the left ones like to present the demos because it displays a smaller gap in their second place numbers."

Because all advertisers care about is the demo, you fool! It's the basic principle of television advertising - the more people that you can snag in the demo, the more money you make because people in the demo have discretionary money to spend on what the advertisers sell.

When a show has high ratings overall, but low numbers in the demo - IT GETS CANCELED.

Examples: Judging Amy and Joan of Arcadia, both highly-rated winners for CBS, were both canceled because the idiots in charge felt that they could get better numbers "in the demo" from shows that targeted younger viewers.

here's a legitmate question. Why are there like a dozen sites that keep ratings and why is everyone different from eachother? Isn't there like a ratings.com?
Posted by: at September 10, 2007 7:11 PM

Some ratings use Live (who has their fanny in front of the TV watching, commercials & all) verses Live +same day (this refers to people to TIVO a program and watch it in the same day--within 24 hours).

This latest ICN blog post has a good explanation of this (read the comments as well):

    http://insidecable.blogsome.com/2007/09/09/get-ready-for-the-new-ratings-system/

The "demo" refers to viewers 25-54. Although some cable stations parse that even more to "spin" ratings successes, etc.

Anon at 7:28, like we said, you can parse it all you want, anything can be spun to anyones' advantage.

    From ICN (link above):

Here are the results of a member survey from the Assocation of National Advertisers from early in 2007 where they asked what form of ratings they wanted. (this info came from a March 13, 2007 MediaDailyNews article by Joe Mandese)

    “Live” Only - 31%
“Live” Plus Same Day - 28%
“Live” Plus One Day - 9%
“Live” Plus Two Days - 7%
“Live” Plus Three Days - 3%
“Live” Plus Four Days - 2%
“Live” Plus Five Days - 2%
“Live” Plus Six Days - 0%
“Live” Plus Seven Days - 16%
    Don’t Know - 2%

As you can see, though Live won the biggest percentage, if you look at simply Live vs. Not Live, advertisers overwhemingly are looking towards some form of time shifted data.

"Al Qaeda really hurt us, but not as much as Rupert Murdoch has hurt us, particularly in the case of Fox News. Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda--worse for our society. It's as dangerous as the Ku Klux Klan ever was."--Keith Olbermann, Playboy, 2007

Maybe we should get back to what this post is about, Olbermann's hate filled talking points parroting his pals of the Fringe left...

A few years back I really respected Keith -- thought he was funny and intelligent (even got some of my friends and colleagues to watch him). I just wanted to get that off my chest and apologize.

    So "I am a fool"?

So - Do they cancel shows that do consistantly THIRD in overall ratings AND second and third place in the demo ratings? You know the answer... so who's the fool now? Keith is NOT winning in the demo, he just is a closer to Oreilley in the demo. And leftwing sites LOVE to look like they are not as far back in second.

In my world- Second is the first loser. Keith is a loser.

Relax, buddy - you just showed why you are a loon.

And don't forget "Why Do You Care"

You used to say "Rating don't matter."
They didn't matter to you when Keith was in 4th.
They didn't matter to you when he was in 3rd.
They didn't matter to you when he was occasionally in 2nd.
They they still shouldn't matter when he beats a subsitute guest on A SINGLE FRIDAY!

    You, are a hypocrite.

The blue blog zombies are the biggest losers on the planet. They are all converging on ICN to post on the subject thread. Amazing. I'd bet that 99 percent of these mental patients had never been to ICN prior to being encourages by Kos posts. Those insane Kos Kidz are at it again. Herd mentality.

Olbermann's only a winner if he counts those Live Plus data sets. But it's true his hypocritical fans are claiming that ratings don't matter when he loses but matter when he happens to luck up and win (*if you count live day plus recorded numbers ONLY). So which is it? See, this is what is wrong with liberals, they want it both ways and every way.

"why" wasn't the only loon to claim ratings didn't matter. They know exactly who they are, too. I may have to remind them. Bet yer ass they matter now when he beats a sub on a fri night. Hypocrisy? Indeed.

    More from the Playboy interview:
    "We watch movies at home."

"One night Katy and I crashed in front of the TV during an Arrested Development marathon."

This is F*ching Playboy, do the readers really want to hear how a 48 year old fat-a$$ is sitting around watching TV with a 23 year old?

In the past didn't he brag about her being a "freelance TV producer"....my, what an exciting "TV" power couple these idiots are.

    Yer welcome....

^yawn...doesn't matter what his ratings are right..."

Yeah, I'm sure Faux News is thinking the same thing as advertising dollars is leaving them. Bye-bye Old Reilly.

    Hey, I just got back.
So, when's the cross burning, guys?...

Let me understand this ratings "win" Your Site is Weak is so happy about.....

Keith Olbermann consistently pulls under 1 million viewers but has a larger demo one Friday night (after he appears on NBC Sports) and the left wets their pants.

When there is a trend without his silliness interupting already poor sports coverage, get back to me.

Also, did we forget when they tried to put COUNTDOWN on NBC before SNF, it was fourth behind 2 reruns including a silly gameshow on FOX? And it pulled much lower ratings than what was in the slot previously, DATELINE NBC.

I have read no where that FOX NEWS is suffering, in fact they recently increased their fees to the cable companies and it continues to grow. MSNBC may be seeing an increase in their viewers, fine....but I doubt the poor product that is COUNTDOWN will ever see mainstream popularity.

Especially when the host buys into radical dogma like FOW NEWS is more dangerous than the KKK....this is what the thread is about, BTW.

    > Keith beat The Factor in the 25-54 age range.

    Oops, no he didn't.

    > advertising dollars is leaving them. Bye-bye Old Reilly.

Under the ratings preferred by advertisers, O'Reilly beat Olby in that demo. Thanks for playing, though.

O'Lielly, Olby's gut is so huge that he can't see his feet.

"Also, did we forget when they tried to put COUNTDOWN on NBC before SNF, it was fourth behind 2 reruns including a silly gameshow on FOX? And it pulled much lower ratings than what was in the slot previously, DATELINE NBC."

Hey cee, did you know that on the West Coast (including the coveted #2 city for ratings, Los Angeles) Keith was on AFTER the game (in some cities as late as 10pm)? And many of those cities were NOT COUNTED because the timeslots varied?

    I didn't think so.

Olby is whining about Gen. Petraeus. LOL. Poor Olby.

Anon, I did know this and it still would still would not account for the fact that COUNTDOWN on NBC had almost half of what DATELINE NBC got in the same time slot, previously.....even with repeats during the summer.

Also, if COUNTDOWN has such great potential as a product for NBC....why was it not on this past Sunday?

Why is Mr. Olbermann not doing more brilliant commentaries on NBC Nightly News as he promised with his new contract if he is such a potential rating winner?

In the Ghetto you live in O-lies- odds are the never heard of the general!

See you wednesday when the Monday ratings come in - right loons?

    Just curious,

Do any of you remain on-topic?

I don't see any discussion in the opener about ratings pissing matches.

Betray Us.. Fantastic spot..... time to visit a kinkos and make hundreds of copies of the ad and paste them all over town..

Posted by: Bill O'lielly at September 10, 2007 9:15 PM

O'Lielly, go into your printer program... Change the "1" on "Copies" to "3". Then go post them at your special places--- pool hall, bowling alley, and Chuckie Cheese Pizza Parlor.

You'd think you'd have learned something about printers at MSNBC...

"Also, if COUNTDOWN has such great potential as a product for NBC....why was it not on this past Sunday?"

Because FOX had an afternoon/evening football gam, CBS had the U.S. Open finals, and NBC had their usual pre-game show to fill that slot? And it couldn't be before that because the networks gave all the timeslots prior to 6pm ET to the local affiliates, now could it?

"Why is Mr. Olbermann not doing more brilliant commentaries on NBC Nightly News as he promised with his new contract if he is such a potential rating winner?"

You'd have to ask the geniuses at 30 Rock. And NBC only lost the No. 1 spot in nightly news ratings less than two weeks ago. So it hasn't exactly been necessary.

It's bitterly ironic that Olby's horrific and slanderous comments in Playboy would be released one day before the 9/11 anniversary tomorrow. That's truly despicable.

    Hey, I just got back.

As opposed to you, who are just deplorable 24 hours a day.

    KeithO format

    Segment one- "Bush bad"
    Segment two- "War bad"
Segment three- "Bush like (insert historical menace i.e hitler or nixon)"
Segment four- name three bad republicans that pick on me
Sprinkle in some fabrication and lies.
    "good night and good luck"

Ratings gold i tell you... about as predictable as every "Threes Company" episode"

I just did get home and have been catching up.

Olby's little 'chicken and walffles' spew might have done him in folks.

Remember the Imus comment took a few days to boil to the top.

O'Reilly and Sharpton do have a working relationship.

Johnny, a while back Sharpton needed to go on t.v. for something that happened. I don't remember what it was. But I remember no one would have Sharpton on but O'Reilly did.

O'Reilly has also stated on his radio show that he and Sharpton, though they don't agree on much have been out to dinner. They are friends!

Remember, these things always take a day or two to get going.

As for Playboy, who reads that? 14 year olds and 40+ basement dwellers who still live at home. This is a man who is desperate. Fox News worse than Al-Qaeda? Well yeah they are! If you're a lunatic fringe leftest.

He probably didn't even think this stuff up. I bet ya he didn't even say it. Whoever it was that wrote this article up, Keith just told him, "Put in whatever makes me look hip and cool to 18 year-olds girls.

But he did say that thing about the 700 ACLU lawyers. And 14 year olds read Playboy........Ah, let's not go there...I mean Virginia.

Keith thinks he's a rock star when the only thing rocky about him is the rocks in his head.

Mr. Coates I'm just wondering. Did any of those 'Mama Cass' websites wish that Keith ended up in 'Playgirl'?

    Now THAT!

    WOULD BE SICK!

Balls and pool sticks give you an uncontrollable urge?

Does streching out on the table felt give you the fuzzies?

Or because of you're upbeat and positive attitude did you piss a bunch of folks off one night and find out that a pool stick went where you never thought it would go before?

Did they use chalk or powder?

    O'Lilly: No that's just a little ice-cream.

And NBC only lost the No. 1 spot in nightly news ratings less than two weeks ago. So it hasn't exactly been necessary.
Posted by: at September 10, 2007 9:27 PM

Stop the lying. NBC was behind ABC for nearly 7 months before it "edged out" a #1 when Charles Gibson was on vacation.

Remember, the NFL Commissioner's talented wife, Jane Skinner, works for Fox News Channel. Does Keith exempt her from his comment on Fox News and Al Qaeda? I am sure Roger Goodell will not appreciate the host of Football Night in America maligning his wife. Keith owes Jane, the NFL and Fox a major apology. I guarantee that Roger is not going to roll with the insult...he will make his opinion known to NBC.

Funny how the spolbyloons are avoiding this thread like the plague.

"Al Qaeda really hurt us, but not as much as Rupert Murdoch has hurt us, particularly in the case of Fox News. Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda--worse for our society. It's as dangerous as the Ku Klux Klan ever was" KO

Not a peep from the spolbs. Which one will be the first to admit they agree with Olbyonesidedkanobie?

Olby's fans don't hold opinions contrary to what Keith says, it's not allowed in the world of Olbyloondom.

WOW! The spolbs aren't touching this thread. Case is pretty much closed, here. Olby is living up to his "deplorable" status.

OK Jeff, just so you'll stop repeating yourself...I'll 'touch' this thread!

IF in fact, that is exactly what KO said, and IF it wasn't taken out of context like it usually is on this site.....I don't agree! However, I certainly understand why he said it.

As for me, I personally don't believe Murdoch and Fox have been QUITE as bad for America as Al Qeada, but it's debatable

To think benson just claimed you weren't a "loon." Guess he was wrong, wasn't he?

Justoneminute.com's Tom Maguire has a hilarious take on a piece of Olbylogic from Playboy's interview with Olbermann

    September 10, 2007

    Reading Playboy For The Articles

Keith Olbermann is interviewed in the October 2007 P
layboy; their free preview offered a snippet so dumb I felt obliged to reprise it:

PLAYBOY: On Countdown this past April, after Rudolph Giuliani made a speech saying Democrats would make us more vulnerable to terrorist attacks, you went off on him for eight solid minutes. You seemed truly offended by what he'd said.

OLBERMANN: Giuliani tried to out-Bush Bush. He tried to get votes by talking about casualties as if another attack like 9/11 were inevitable, suggesting that voting for anyone but him would lead to more people getting killed. That's about an inch from saying, "If you don't vote for me, you'll die," which is another inch from saying, "If you don't vote for me, I'll kill you." And that, to me, is not America. In fact, it's not Earth. I don't usually single out candidates for praise or brickbats, but if they're going to politicize terror, to do the work of the terrorists by terrorizing the populace, I'll come down on them like a ton of bricks. That's my job.

So let me see if I have mastered this "logic" - when Al Gore says that global warming is a gathering threat, and so on, he is one inch from saying that if we don't vote for environmentally sound candidates we will die, and two inches from saying that he will personally kill us (I presume a coroner would rule it death by boredom, but really - anyone listening to Al Gore for more than a nanosecond ought to be ruled a suicide.)

Or, work with me, Keith - Nancy Pelosi thinks if we don't vote for stricter gun control we will die, which is two inches from saying she will personally gun us down like Michael Vick's dogs.

There you have it - more proof of the study we cited earlier today showing the Beautiful Minds of the left.

    This is right-on too...

    From DAILYGUT.COM Greg Gutfeld

    BONUS GREGALOGUE: KEN OLBERMANN
In the latest Playboy, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann says Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda.

He says, "Al Qaeda really hurt us, but not as much as Rupert Murdoch has hurt us, particularly in the case of Fox News. Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda -- worse for our society. It's as dangerous as the Ku Klux Klan ever was."

What, no comparisons to Hitler? I'm hurt.

Look, whether you're a lib or a con, you should be creeped out by what he said. It's not because he took a dig at Fox, it's because in doing so he suggested that the horrific crimes committed by Al Qaeda and the Klan are comparable to the action of a media outlet whose success he envies. What a weenie. It's insulting on every level to those whose lives have been affected by real tragedy.

But can you blame him? Standing up to Al Qaeda is tough. Making decisions about how to conduct the war on terror is tough. Beating up on Fox News? Easy.

Fox News won't blow up his city. We won't sue him. We won't even tee-pee his hot tub. Instead, we'll do what Americans usually do -- shrug.

Who knows what went wrong in Olbermann's life to cause him to say that. But whatever it is, a guy who can say that people not in lockstep with his own views are worse than Al Qaeda... Well, that person needs to spend time in my basement. A group that has killed thousands around the globe, is trying to get hold of a dirty bomb, and is led by a homicidal goat... That group is far worse than anything on television. Including Sunset Tan.

Finally, how come neither Olbermann or the left has any response to terror? Guess that question is part of what makes Fox "worse than Al Qaeda." But hey, I can deal with that.

    And that's my Gut feeling.
    DAILYGUT.COM digg this

Hey Brandon, you missed one of the best parts of the interview----Olbermann a known stalker, claims he was stalked!!!

Playboy: You had a stalker a few years back. That must have been scary.

Olbermann: It started at ESPN. A woman thought I had proposed to her in a secret code during SportsCenter. She would call and call, leave 50 or 60 messages a night. I thought it was over after I went to work at Fox, then I picked up the phone and it was her. "Please don't call me," I said. "How can you think I want to marry you? We've had no contact for four years."
She said, "You needed time to make up your mind." This went on for more than 10 years, until she got so sick she couldn't leave her house. Couldn't continue it.

    -----------------
First, didn't he hire a private detective to "stalk" an old teacher, personally "stalk" a producer from MS-NBC, Rebecca Lobo, leave "needy-stalky" messages for the Radio Chick, and the porn star...plus lets not forget Karmabites1 (a fan who he emailed during his show). BTW--how did he know that his "stalker" got sick and couldn't leave her house....

Cecelia: "Finally, how come neither Olbermann or the left has no response to terror?"

Cecelia, do you REALLY buy that statement? I would expect Jeff or Factor to swallow tripe like that whole, but not YOU.

That said, My explanation as to why someone might compare Murdoch and his network is a nuanced, but nevertheless rational one, although I don't necessarily agree with that particular comparison....not in the degree of severity anyway.

It can be argued rationally that the Iraq invasion has been FAR worse for America than anything Al Qeada has done to it. Fox was one of the primary media cheerleaders in favor of the invasion, ... and who knows, maybe it would never have happened without Fox's influence on public opinion? Sheer speculation?...Definitely, but this is probably a better explanation as to the thinking behind KO's statement than anything else I've heard.

He probably believes, as I believe....that often the wrong reaction is far worse than the original action that instigated it, and this is the lesson Fox and it's supporters don't seem to have learned yet.

Oh it's rich reading all this whining. As a viewer (in the "live" demo) since Countdown started, I can only revel in the fact that he is on the ascendance while the conservatives are on the ropes. There may be hope for this country yet. Whine on! I love the humor and whimsy of it all!

So dear Bernie please tell me why O'Reilly has come roaring back and has kicked major ass in the ratings ever since that one night? Why? Because despite what the NY Times and his little enablers like TVN would have you to believe, Olbermann will never be anything but what he is: a failure, over and over and over again.
