Olbermann Watch, "persecuting" Keith since 2004

    October 15, 2007
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - October 15, 2007

"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)

    Host: Keith Olbermann

    Topics/Guests:

    • CIVIL RIGHTS IN JEOPARDY: Jonathan Turley, George Washington University law professor and constitutional law expert
    • THE SWIFT BOATING OF GRAEME FROST: Bonnie and Halsey Frost, Graeme Frost’s parents

Opening spiel: Good news from Iraq? Don't believe it. "Conservatives without conscience" cause a "nightmare". Larry Craig yet again; Mitt "threw him under the bus" [Ding!], yada yada yada. It's blue Monday at Olbermann Watch and the bells are ringing.

    Bathtub Boy

#5: "Mister" Bush doesn't want a victory in Iraq because it would mean he would have to leave. If Al Qaeda is 60-70% diminished, said Olby, well so what? That means they're still 30-40% not diminished. Dana Milbank, minus multicolored mufti, said any improvement in Iraq undermines the success of the surge. No, don't try to figure it out, it's OlbyLogic. It must be, because Olby said it puts the White House in a corner! By the way, up is down, and dry is wet. Great thanks.

Time for HuffPo's Jon Soltz to take OlbySpin into hyperdrive. These generals shouldn't be saying stuff like this because wascally Wepublicans will exploit it for political gain. Oh, and "Where you sit is where you stand". O.K. Olbermoronn said the casualty numbers may be down "but they haven't hit zero". Geez, that's even true of members of the US Senate, Fat Ass. The far-left Soltz was so enamored of OlbySpin that he told Oralmann: "I'm going to start using your stuff!" You know he got Great Thanksed.

After a reference to the "right-wing lunatic fringe" [Ding!] came #4: The Big Bad Pentagon in "George Bush's America". They're injecting people with "dangerous" drugs (Blue Blog Source: Daily Kos, Keith's favorite charity). This is an allegation in a lawsuit, but was reported as fact by Edward R Olbermahn. Natch. Time for Olby and The Perfessor. More Pentagon "spying". Keyword: "abuse" (used by The Perfessor five times in one form or other). Great thanks.

After yet another "lunatic fringe" [Ding!] we got #3: The "right wing" [Ding!] wants Graeme Frost to "die" (Blue Blog Source: Think Progress). It's the fury of the "right wing" [Ding!]. Rush Limbaugh "spreading lies", Mitch McConnell "reportedly" (weasel word) doing so too. The "lunatic fringe" [Ding!]. No mention of the Frosts' three automobiles. Much talk about what if they didn't have the S-CHIP program, which is odd, because neither Democrats nor Republicans have proposed doing away with it (straw man). Great phony-sympathy-style Thanks.

#2: Larry Craig (regurgitated video from the network mothership) with another "thrown under the bus" [Ding!], which Herr Olbermahn apparently thinks is a phrase original with him (no, it just seems that way after hearing it for the 89th time)...plus O.J. #1: Rudy and space aliens ("they're meaner than Republicans"). "Lunatic fringe" [Ding!].

In the Media Matters Minute, Olby attacked Michelle Malkin (Blue Blog Source: Think Progress), Lindsay Graham (R) (Blue Blog Source: Crooks & Liars) throwing Gen Sanchez "under the bus" [Ding!], and worst: Roger Ailes (Blue Blog Source: Oliver Willis of Hillary Clinton's Media Matters).

    OLBY

Dogs That Did Not Bark: Well, we could ask why Edward R Olbermann did an interview with Hillary Clinton and never asked one question about the Hsu financial scandal. But then, he would have to report on it, wouldn't he? Oh well, then how about Gen Sanchez? Mr Merkle trumpeted the General's criticism of the Iraq War as headline news from a genuine expert (i.e. the man in charge when the country was de-Bathified, and during the Abu Ghraib scandal). But Herr Olberoronn conveniently left out half of what Sanchez said. Could that be because it boomerangs right back on OlbyPlanet? We report, you decide.

    MisterMeter

Olbermann's book The book that bears Olbermann's name sunk to #33,079 on amazon, while "Culture Warrior" stands at #1,198. (It's that 2-for-$25 sale!) Barnes & Noble lists the OlbyTome at #43,276; O'Reilly's book is #2,368 there, and is one of the top five books of 2006 per Publishers Weekly. On Friday, "Chicken and Waffles" Olbermann just barely beat a hit-and-run driver on CNN for second place, but still lost overwhelmingly to his nemesis the eeevil Mr Bill, both in total viewers and in the coveted, pivotal, much-beloved, critical, all-important "key demo". Leftist paranoid dingbats!

I did it, I was first! I keek a touchdown!

Most historians are members in good standing of the Dingbat Patrol. Their opinion of Bush, or anything else for that matter, means nothing to most people.

When Hillary loses in 2008 many of you will hang yourselves. I look forward to that day.

Attacking people making $55,000 a year? Wow, Malkin should go to an internment camp and rot...

I think that the projections are 58 seats in the Senate, 260 in the House, and the White House for the Dems in '08. Also, they'll murder the Repugs in '10, '12, and '14. It's a good time for the Constitution. Bush is hated by the world...except the loons...

Posted by: Republican Killa at October 16, 2007 1:00 AM

Why don't you go to Vegas and wager that piece of shit you call a life on it.

    Questions for Retard Killer:

#1) What the hell have the DEMS actually DONE since winning thier majority LAST YEAR?!?

#2) Why is the DEM controlled congress' poll numbers lower than Bush's?

#3) Why is Harry Reid's (D) individual approval rating LOWER than Bush's?

#4) What the hell will you do in 2008, when Bush is GONE and there is a NEW republican president?!?

KO opened the SCHIP story by saying the right was spouting lies about that poor kid and his family.

But he neglected tgo cite what the lies were!

I havent kept up on this story, but when you place your own child in the middle of a partisan political hit commercial, then part of the debate is about that child, and the claims made in the commercial.

I blame the parents who strap vest bombs on their children in palestine----not the children who blow people up.

What no Bill O'Reilly attack tonight? Olby must be slipping. Did someone say they want to spit on Michelle Malkin?

    Rediculous Klutz,

You are sounding a tad unhinged this evening. Is there a full moon, or something?

At least we both like internment camps. See, there is some common ground.

Are you saying that one little Lieberman is between the Democrat congress and success. Damn, you been screwed by the Jew again.

Congress approval rating at an historic all-time low.

No Congress before has been this bad.

And the loons think that the dems are going to landside it all next year.

    Blinded by HATE?

    Too much crack?

Somebody just whopped up a powerful batch of kool-aid?

    Products of out-come based education?

    TOTAL LOSERS?

    All of the above?

    ***********************************

Just a passing thought from last week

When Keith was doing his one on one interview with Hillary.

Was Bill doing a one on one with Katie?

"You mean the "Lieberman Majority" we have, you fucking rat fucking faggot. Kill yourself."

Oh! I forgot, basement dwellers living off their parents.

That's right, Dumbass. Even when we Republicans are in the minority we're still in charge. It's not hard to keep you dingbats checkmated.

The voters know what a bunch of losers you are, so they blame you for getting pushed around by us. It's a bitch, ain't it?

"What exactly can GOP candidates say next fall in the face of no WMD, no link between "Saddam and 9/11, no ties between Saddam and al Qaeda, no flowers for "liberators," 5 million refugees both out of and within Iraq, Administration approval of torture, over 30,000 American dead and wounded as well as over 100,000 Iraqis killed ?not to mention an increase in terrorism world-wide? "Give us more time" for a war that's lasted longer than World War II?"

Wasn't it the Dems in the last debate. (or the one before that.) That said, it will be 2013 before we can get all the troops out?

That was the front-runners. Not the 'Kook from Kleveland'.

"Can conservatives explain how ExxonMobil's Lee Raymond earned more per hour in 2005 than his average employee earned per year?"

And when Lee Raymond was before some Senate panel last year the LIBERAL DEMS couldn't get him to explain it either.

WOW! The head of Exxon-Mobil earned more than the janitor at the Carteret, New Jersey plant. SHOCKING!!!!

"but that would be entirely covered by a proposed increase in the tobacco tax".

AH BINKY! People are smoking less these days, So the tax revenue from tobacco is going down.

    ***********************************

Really? No mention of O'Reilly tonight? This must have broke some record. How was Dopey able to control himself?

Also, is it just me or, has it been quite a while since Keith has got a fluffer-nutter piece in the MSM.

In fact the last I heard anything was a article where Olby was called over-rated.

Then again by looking at his numbers. I would say it's more like NO-RATED!

    NOBODY strikes again!

The Democrats "slaughtered" the Republicans but they still can't get anything done. What kind of slaughter is that? It's the Democrat kind. When they win they are still losing.

My prediction stands: the first Wednesday in November, 2008 will see countless Democrats hang themselves. Too funny!

"The reason why the congress has a low rating is because Bush and the Repugs keep blocking what they want to do, you know, what the American people voted them in to do, you fucking loser jack-ass faggot."

So glad I'm getting under your skin. Now why don't you go play naked twister with you're self.

Or our you afraid you might lose?

Look I'll explain it so even a BRAIN DEAD ZOMBIE like you can understand.

DEMOCRATS! Have the majority in Congress.

DEMOCRATS! Have the majority in the Senate.

Why all we should be hearing all day is Bush vetoed this. And Bush vetoed that.

    VETO! VETO! VETO! VETO!

    But we don't do we?

But just keep on hatin' boy!

Look how far it got Hitler and his goons.

"Puck is a wing-bat loser fascist..."

And with that Ladies and Gentlemen. I bid all a fond good-night.

Just how can I win against a Super Mind like that?

He's screamin' that s**t now, wait until NOV. 08!

Before I go, A BIG SHOUTOUT! To the true king of Rock & Roll CHUCK BERRY!

10-18 Chuck turns 81! And still, is out there performing!

    Still Rockin'!

Puck - I agree- there hasn't been a fluff peice for KeithO in a long time! I suspect his act has grown tired even for the loons and leftbats. I actually now like having him on Sunday Night football... his phoney laugh and uncomfortable demeanor among the "sports guys" is great to watch. What a phoney!

Plus his primetime show has becoem an echo chamber. How many times are you going to bring up the Larry Craig story? How many times are you going to whine about Habeus Corpus, when the majority of American approve of oversea wire taps? How many times are you going to scream about Bill Oreilley? Its all lunatic fringe left material, so his numbers will always remain in the toilet.

Viva this site! Exposing the lies and hypocrisy of this leftie water carrier!

    Fun for everyone
Check out the NBC Sports Forum

    http://boards.nbcuni.com/nbcs/index.php?showtopic=314&st=460

The anti-olby movement is growing far beyond this site. And of course the loons are there defending him! Its great, with Olbyloons using Keithisms to attack joe-sports-fan.

Sports fan says- "this huys Keith sucks"
    And the standard Olbyloon writes-
    "Go back to Faux News"
    Typical liberals losers!

    http://bloggingolbermann.com/2007/10/football-night-in-america-week-6/#comments

Specifically focus on the soda flavor assigned to Olby. Think someone at Jones Soda reads your blog? Thought you might find it amusing...

Olbermann's exploitation as well as that of his partisan benefacors, is failing to shift opinion....

    http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/archives/014871.php

"A majority of Americans trust Democrats to handle the issue of children's health insurance more than President Bush, but they agree with the president that government aid should not go to middle-income families or those with private insurance, a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows.

"Three days before the Democratic-controlled House attempts to override Bush's veto of a five-year, $35 billion expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), the poll shows that Americans' opinions on the issue are mixed.

"Of those polled, 52% said they have more confidence in Democrats to deal with the issue, compared with 32% for Bush. But majorities also supported two positions at the core of the president's opposition:

"Despite Bush's low polling numbers and their political advantage on domestic policy, the Democrats have not convinced Americans to subsidize health insurance for middle-class families. In fact, the USA Today poll used the less-outrageous annual income limit of $62,000 for the description of the expansion (some have it at $83,000), and Democrats still lose, 52%-40%. It isn't even close."

    ###
So, will the pathetic leftist ruling elite come to Bush's position and renew the SCHIP plan with a modest increase or continue the demogoguery like we saw on COUNTDOWN last night?

Good probing questions of Mr. and Mrs. Frost, BTW.....They look like real go-getters!

Good Bless the little children with parents like that!

"THE SWIFT BOATING OF GRAEME FROST"

So that means were telling the truth about them then ?

Bottom line on SCHIP..Bush's plan would increase funding and covers more kids..just because it's not as big as the Dems doesn't mean he's kicking kid's off the program or letting them die..

This is typical Lib/MSM B.S..EX.. the Dems want to increase a program by say a million and the Republicans want to increase it by $999,999,9999..the Dems/MSM will accuse the Republicans of cutting the program.

    mlong,

Welcome, son. We need another neocon liar on this site:

" ...Last week, President Bush said tough luck to lower-income children.

He did it by vetoing a bipartisan compromise to spend $35 billion over the next five years to give more children access to health care.

Under the expansion, the State Children's Health Insurance Program would add four million children to state programs such as Florida's KidCare, for working poor families who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but can't afford expensive private coverage.

The bill passed with solid majorities in both the House and Senate, winning the support of stalwart conservatives like Sen. Orin Hatch, R-Utah, and Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa.

Grassley rightly pointed out that Bush's plan to increase the program by only $5 billion over five years wouldn't even cover the number of children already in the program..."

Get up to date, blindrat...over the weekend it was reported that The White House is ready to revisit the costs of expansion. The democrats have yet to decide whether they will backdown on their demand to cover "children" up to age 26 and "poor" familes with incomes greater than 62,000/year.

Please tell us all why the left feels it is necessary to subsidize upper middle-class lifestyles support those physically and mentally capable of supporting themselves?

You get the sense that blindrat is one of those poor people under the age of 26 still living at home in need of health care.

Children up to twenty-six? Wow! Where'd you find that?

    As promised Friday:

    "EX-PRESIDENT FOR SALE (My caps)

It now turns out that Jimmy Carter--who is accusing the Jews of buying the silence of the media and politicians regarding criticism of Israel--has been bought and paid for by Arab money. In his recent book tour to promote Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, Carter has been peddling a particularly nasty bit of bigotry. The canard is that Jews own and control the media, and prevent newspapers and the broadcast media from presenting an objective assessment of the Arab-Israeli conflict, and that Jews have bought and paid for every single member of Congress so as to prevent any of them from espousing a balanced position. How else can anyone understand Carter’s claims that it is impossible for the media and politicians to speak freely about Israel and the Middle East? The only explanation – and one that Carter tap dances around, but won’t come out and say directly – is that Jews control the media and buy politicians. Carter then presents himself as the sole heroic figure in American public life who is free of financial constraints to discuss Palestinian suffering at the hands of the Israelis."

In part two Constitutional Law Professor at Harvard, Alan M. Dershowitz, ended it with this:

"If money determines political and public views—as Carter insists “Jewish money” does—then Carter’s views on the Middle East must be deemed to have been influenced by the vast sums of Arab money he has received. If he who pays the piper calls the tune, then Carter’s off-key tunes have been called by his Saudi Arabian paymasters. It pains me to say this, but I now believe that there is no person in American public life today who has a lower ratio of real to apparent integrity than Jimmy Carter. The public perception of his integrity is extraordinarily high. His real integrity, it now turns out, is extraordinarily low. He is no better than so many former American politicians who, after leaving public life, sell themselves to the highest bidder and become lobbyists for despicable causes. That is now Jimmy Carter’s sad legacy. "

Why does this sentence bring to mind Nazis "If money determines political and public views—as Carter insists “JEWISH MONEY” does"? (Caps mine)

Could it be that the Nazis accused Jews of strangling the world with their control of money and their bought and paid for politicians?

    Also as promised on Friday:

Blindrat, you got your panties in a wad over the question I asked and that The Factor and Wolverine answered to your dissatisfation.

It took a bit of trial and error of terms to find the complete info I asked them about,

    It can be found here:

    http://beartotheright.blogspot.com/2007/01/14-carter-center-board-members-resign.html

You will find copies of the two letters that FOURTEEN Board Members of Carter's Library sent to their fellow Board Members to inform them of their resignation and to Jimmy Carter resigning from their positions.

Just one very telling and compelling excerpt from these fourteen closely associated professionals with Jimmy Carter and their reasons for resigning:

"Your book has confused opinion with fact, subjectivity with objectivity and force for change with partisan advocacy. Furthermore the comments you have made the past few weeks insinuating that there is a monolith of Jewish power in America are most disturbing and must be addressed by us. In our great country where freedom of expression is basic bedrock you have suddenly proclaimed that Americans cannot express their opinion on matters in the Middle East for fear of retribution from the "Jewish Lobby" In condemning the Jews of America you also condemn Christians and others for their support of Israel. Is any interest group to be penalized for participating in the free and open political process that is America? Your book and recent comments suggest you seem to think so."

Let me just highlight one sentence from their letter by repeating it in a stand alone way with caps for emphasis:

"Furthermore the comments you have made the past few weeks INSINUATING THAT THERE IS A MONOLITH OF JEWISH POWER IN AMERICA are most disturbing and must be addressed by us."

Blindrat, this also conjures up deja vue of the Nazis to me. That sinister Jewish Worldwide Cabal is alive and well according to Jimmy Carter.

I do believe that he has justly earned the label ANTISEMITIC.

A sideline to this discussion is why was this barely covered by the MSM so that using several different search terms that not once did anything come up in the first page or two, I didn't look any further, from any MSM outlet.

I know you take the bus and you sometimes use that as an excuse so I will copy my two comments directed to you about this and catch up with you when I see you here.

    Grammie,

Your post had no content. Where is it even stated that Carter has a financial connection with Arabs?

And, where did Carter use the term "Jewish money" (non caps mine)? The fact is that when Israel commits what would be considered acts of terrorism, the U.S. media ignores it.

    Actual plan stats:
"Key committee chairmen want to expand government coverage of children, putting children in families earning up to $83,000 a year and "children" as old as age 25 into government-run plans."

    Grammie,

Carter has shown no signs of being anti-semetic...just wanting justice all around. If he had shown such signs, do you really think that fourteen Jewish people would've been associated with the man?

    News to Use,

Thanks for the blurb from the Heritage Foundation. Now, if you just find a reliable source...say, the bill itself, that would be appreciated...

    Grammie,

"...Part of the explanation for why Carter’s book did not set off any public outcry in Israel lies in the difference in literary culture. For better or worse — and I, for one, certainly think that it is for worse — books just don’t matter here in the way they still do elsewhere. Yet perhaps a larger part of the explanation lies with the difference in political culture, and with local sensitivities (or perhaps insensitivities) to language and moral tone.

It is not that Israelis are indifferent to what is said about them, but the threshold of what passes as acceptable here is apparently much higher than it is with Israel’s friends in the United States. In the case of this particular book, the harsh words that Carter reserves for Israel are simply not as jarring to Israeli ears, which have grown used to such language, especially with respect to the occupation.

In other words, what Carter says in his book about the Israeli occupation and our treatment of Palestinians in the occupied territories — and perhaps no less important, how he says it — is entirely harmonious with the kind of criticism that Israelis themselves voice about their own country. There is nothing in the criticism that Carter has for Israel that has not been said by Israelis themselves..."

The kid's father chose not to insure his workers which meant that his own child had no insurance. Instead he depended upon the government to give him a big hand-out. Why? Because the Dems would socialize everything if they could get a chance and sucking off government tit is what they do best. That's not lying, it's truth-telling, Perhaps the Dems should do a better job of picking their "poster children" from now on. This kid was hardly a hard-luck, poverty-stricken child.

Why that equals no credibility! Claiming that I'm lazy because you cannot back up your claim: Bogus, son...

Blindrat, you are being selectively blind again.

I pointed out that I only copied excerpts and gave you the citation for the entire backup.

The phrase "JEWISH MONEY" was in quotes and was the conclusion of Dershowitz's long argument. You obviously didn't read what wrote or you would have known that.

And that means, I am confident, that you didn't read any of the sources. If you had you would at least be able to respond with some accuracy and clarity.

And what do Israeli libraries and mores have to do with Jimmy Carter, The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and FOURTEEN board members resigning from his Presidential Library because they considered his book to be antisemitic?

I stated that the MSM here obviously didn't give the story much coverage. You go check out the Israeli MSM and let me know what you find.

    Grammie,

You apparently didn't read the editorial from the Jewish Daily, Forward.

By your logic, they would be antisemetic Israelis...

Blindrat, it is so typical of you.

Whether I read an editorial does not alter the fact that you didn't even really read what I wrote much less any citations.

    Your supposed answers proved it.

    From the editorial you cited:

There is nothing in the criticism that Carter has for Israel that has not been said by Israelis themselves.

Of course, Carter is not just another media pundit or a leftist Israeli. A former president of the United States and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, he has been one of the world’s most accomplished statesmen in the past three decades, a public figure of enormous moral clout. His words weigh heavier than those of others, and his actions make a difference in the real sense of the term."

One Israeli editorial writer's opinion doesn't carry the same weight with me as FOURTEEN very closely associated and and up to his book very supportive board members of Jimmy Carter's own library.

If anything, I'd say at most it was some random listener like the two people above who thought he was being cool (kind of like the guy who sucker punched David Wells in the diner a while back). Air America radio host Randi Rhodes is temporarily off the air, but claims she was brutally attacked near her Manhattan apartment are bogus, her lawyer and a police source said today.

Fellow host Jon Elliott claimed on the liberal radio network that Rhodes had been mugged while walking her dog, Simon, on Sunday night. Elliot, who said Rhodes lost several teeth in the attack, waxed about a possible conspiracy.

"Is this an attempt by the right-wing, hate machine to silence one of our own?" he asked on the air, according to Talking Radio, a blog. "Are we threatening them? Are they afraid that we’re winning? Are they trying to silence intimidate us?"

A police source said Rhodes never filed a report and never claimed to be the victim of a mugging. Cops from Manhattan's 17th Precinct called her attorney, who told them Rhodes was not a victim of a crime, the source said.

Rhodes' lawyer told the Daily News she was injured in a fall while walking her dog. He said she's not sure what happened, and only knows that she fell down and is in a lot of pain. The lawyer said Rhodes expects to be back on the air Thursday. He stressed there is no indication she was targeted or that she was the victim of a "hate crime."

    Let me repeat this part:

Pretty little rant, son...Any evidence of any of it?

Let me start you off, boy: The 9/11 commission found no evidence of a viable offer of Bin Laden to President Clinton...

By your criterion Bush Jr has "missed by six years", and keeps right on missing.

    Also:
The 9/11 commission found no evidence of Clinton doing anything to thwart Bin Laden.

Blindrat, I am sorry that your vision is so selective.

The War in the Pacific was an ongoing venture when FDR (it always made me sad that he didn't live to see it) died before V-E day.

Truman stepped into the breech and ended The War in the Pacific with a very minimal loss of life ON BOTH SIDES. Btw, I did quite a bit of reading about this last year and most experts think that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were minimal deaths compared to what would have happened on both sides.

The analogy was between a leader such as Truman and a poll taker such as Clinton.

I notice you also did not address the fact that Clinton's admin refused what the commanders requested that led to the ignominious withdrawal. Les Aspin was a pitiful figure.

    anon,

Proof? Just quote the part of the commission's findings that proves it...

    Thanks, son...

You're asking me to prove that Reagan ordered a US retreat from Lebanon? I am stunned.

Um, I failed ot find any posts critical of say O'Lielly wishing death on such people as Ann Coulter. Um, could you point that post out to me where you ripped O'Lielly. 1. I've barely been on here a week, so I don't even know who O'Leilley is, let alone seen the posts you're referring to.

    2. There's a HUGE difference between some rhetorical comment about, "Oh, someone should punch her in the face," and squealing with glee when it actually happens.

It's like at a football game. Lots of people will talk about how they really hope some hated player gets hurt already, but when he actually goes down on the field everyone, on both sides, holds their breath and when the player gets up on his own, they ALL cheer for the fact that he's ok. Even if there is one or two assholes who cheer the injury itself, even the fans of the team he's rooting for will shout him down.

Congratulations, you're worse than the worst NY Jet fan.

Cute, SLOB. That is a compliment, you know.

I am fairly certain that the only person who has ever called you cute was your Mama. :)

Now, how about a legitimate answer without the game playing.

Is there any evidence of UBL's reaction to Lebanon?

Did you approve or disapprove of the Lebanon withdrawal?

Chiv, to even entertain the notion with absolutely no facts at all to back it up is way over the top for someone who claims to be open minded.

I do appreciate your hesitancy to go so far to call it a conspiracy. How generous of you!

Posted by: Janet Hawkins at October 16, 2007 1:39 PM

It's bad to even entertain thoughts now? Why is it so unbelievable to CONSIDER that it might be the case that you need to need to lash out at anyone who even suggests the possibility.

My reasons for stating that, as well as stating that I hope it's not the case (which you conveniently ignored), are pretty clear, but let's break it down some more:

The basic reasons someone might be attacked in the street are: mugging for money/jewels/etc., personal vendetta, random attack by psychopath.

    Some basic facts:
    1. I've lived in NY for 11 years. In that time, I've witnessed exactly ONE mugging, and I don't know a single person who's been mugged that whole time (pickpockets yes, but not muggings). And I have a number of friends who live in pretty bad neighborhoods.
    2. This happened on a street corner in a busy neighborhood, with lots of police presence, hardly a place muggers would choose as an easy target.
    3. She was wearing a jogging suit with no purse, jewelery, or anything. There are lots of people with money in the area, why choose her?
    4. As evidenced in this blog, there are lots of people who would love to see her hurt.

So basically though mugging or psychopath are possibilities, the odds are really small. Which leaves vendetta. But you find the idea of vendetta to be so offensive that I shouldn't even entertain the NOTION of it? Give me a break.

    ...INCIDENTALLY...
Before I even typed this, her lawyer told the Daily News that this whole thing is BS and that she just fell. But since I was responding to the information we had at the time, it still seemed worth pointing out how absurd it is to dismiss even the POSSIBILITY that it wasn't something else.

Also the wonderful level of glee demonstrated by others that she was hurt period, which I don't imagine will change regardless of how or why she was hurt.

I think Zigwheel's statements were appalling.

That said, I find your statements less appalling but pretty damn sad nonetheless.

You mentioned that some critic could have been the mugger, but then went beyond that to suggest a "conspiracy" of some sort. Just what were you considering here?

To argue that because something is NOT impossible that it's fine to venture and entertain the notion that it could be the case, without any evidence to back it whatsoever, is hideously unfair.

Political opportunism is political opportunism. Whether you're gleeful over an opponent's injury or you're using that injury to float rumors about an opponent.

You mentioned that some critic could have been the mugger, but then went beyond that to suggest a "conspiracy" of some sort. Just what were you considering here?

Posted by: Cecelia at October 16, 2007 3:46 PM

I was considering the possibility that it was one lone a-hole who took the things she talks about personally. And I'm in no way suggesting that only conservatives are capable of that. If Ann Coulter had been attacked right outside of her house in similar circumstances I'd probably assume the same thing about a lone left-wing nutjob.

As far as political opportunism going both ways, you're absolutely right. That's why I was taking care not to simply throw out an accusation, but to explain in detail my reasoning using both basic logic and my own personal experience of the city, that particular street corner, and human nature.

Chiv, you said what you said and your subsequent caveats and accusations that hint at my being the Thought Police just don't quite fly straight:

    I was responding to this:

"It does look suspicious to me, but I won't go but I won't go so far as to say it's a conspiracyso far as to say it's a conspiracy. If anything, I'd say at most it was some random listener like the two people above who thought he was being cool (kind of like the guy who sucker punched David Wells in the diner a while back). But I hope I'm wrong.
Posted by: Chiv at October 16, 2007 1:18 PM"

I neither LASHED OUT nor did I make any effort to curtail your ability to say, behave or do what you will.

I expressed an OPINION that your comment that it looked suspicious was over the top, especially since you have gone to great pains to tell us how unbiased and open minded you are.

Are you claiming that my comment about this statement "but I won't go so far as to say it's a conspiracy" as a "hesitancy to go so far to call it a conspiracy." is simply ignoring that you hoped it wasn't the case and I should have never even noticed the fact that you were capable of entertaining the idea.

For the last part, would you please give us those "others" that you speak of here: "Also the wonderful level of glee demonstrated by others that she was hurt period". I noticed one flaming asshole making such a statement.

Did you read this from Ms Rhodes' substitute that I posted:

"Fellow host Jon Elliott claimed on the liberal radio network that Rhodes had been mugged while walking her dog, Simon, on Sunday night.

Are they trying to silence intimidate us?

Perhaps you should complain to Jon Elliot. He is the one who duped you all too easily into entertaining the sick idea that a fall was an attack by an extremist to silence Air America.

    Grammie

    Grammie,

"Others" referred to the two people who posted here (including the one who was only making light of the situation, so maybe he just counts as a "half"), as well as a HUGE number of posts I've seen on other blogs, including the one [blank] posted above: http://talkingradio.blogspot.com/2007/10/randi-rhodes-is-victim-of-violent.html

From what I've read, Jon Elliot does seem like he was out of line. No argument there.

The idea that I was duped by him is laughable, since the original story simply said that she was attacked, and as I explained in pretty decent detail already, used my own reasoning and personal experience, which lead me to believe it was SUSPICIOUS that it wasn't some random attack. What's so awful about being suspicious? It's not a conclusion. Being suspicious means you're not willing to take anyone's word for it, and want to see more evidence. Without suspicions, there'd be no policework. No investigations. No questioning of any kind. Kind of like what happened in the first 6 years of Bush's Presidency.

Chiv, I had no idea that you were Inspector Clouseau.

Of course suspicions are justified for him and his cohorts to investigate and come to a conclusion.

I consider wild speculation and outright provocative lying such as Jon Eliot did to be a different matter.

As I said earlier, there was not one fact available to support such a suspicion much less a conclusion.

Caution and reticence in jumping to wild conclusions is a good thing. If your suspicion is borne out you can weigh in with authority. If it turns out to be a vile political hoax you won't have to worry about scrubbing all that egg of your face.

    Grammie

    Potato -- Potahto.

Sounds like we're not really all that far off from each other here, except that for some reason you're insisting on painting me as some intolerant person rushing off to make wild, conclusions.

We started with one basic fact (which turned out to be wrong) which is that she had been attacked. Starting with that "fact", I made a very logical assumption that a woman with a lot of enemies might have been attacked by one of those enemies, rather than being the victim of 1. an incredibly rare mugging, 2. in a safe area, and 3. when she obviously isn't carrying anything of value and someone who is would be along in another 2 minutes. Though the original "fact" turned out to be wrong, I stand by my reasoning.

You can't possibly be serious about this.

No investigations. No questioning of any kind. Kind of like what happened in the first 6 years of Bush's Presidency.

Of course the libnuts blamed Randi's mishap on the right wing. What do you expect from a pack of fascists who attempt to suppress any voice that does not agree with them lock-step? Typical moonbat maneuver.

I'm just surprised that Olbermann didn't blame his appendix rupture on W or the GOP or Bill O. It's no shock to hear that Rhodes and her lunatic fans WOULD think that there was some sort of vast right-wing conspiracy to shut her up. Given her "popularity" with the left-wing (many can't stand her from the posts I've seen)-it probably was a former disgruntled LIBERAL viewer who mugged her.

Posted by: at October 16, 2007 7:38 PM

Not much point to pointing out the pretty obvious flaws in your thinking there, but it is amusing to see you accuse "libnuts" of being fascists.

From Wikipedia: "...Various scholars attribute different characteristics to fascism, but the following elements are usually seen as its integral parts: nationalism, statism, militarism, totalitarianism, anti-communism, corporatism, populism, collectivism, and OPPOSITION to economic and political liberalism."

Doesn't exactly sound like something a "libnut" would be in favor of, does it? And what's with the term "lock-step" anyway? Have you noticed the perpetual mess the Democratic party is in? That's anything but lock-step. :D

You're so busy playing the Us vs. Them partisan game you're not even bothering to use terms that make sense. So I guess that means you just picked a team and you're rooting for them, regardless of whether you understand the game. Good plan.

Chiv, I would happen to agree with you on your point. Although I'm polar opposite to a "libnut", dropping the fascist bomb probably doesn't move the conversation/dabate forward.

Chiv, as you always tell people to be more informed, type in Republican & Conservative: Left Wing Fascism and it will tell you that the word and theory came from Mussolini...a left winger

You could also check out Left-Wing Fascism: An intellectual Disorder by John J. Ray on the site Frontpagemagazine.com where it is also stated about Mussolini being a leftist fascist. (article from 10/2002)

Two perfect examples of how the left started fascism, and it how it went from the left starting it to the right being dubbed fascist by these same leftists.

    Can't have it both ways.

So the next time anybody calls a liberal a fascist it's about as normal as calling Hillary a Democrat

8:54, Just more proof of exactly how unhinged the mouthbreather moonbats are.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascist_(epithet)

...The word "fascist" when used in this sense is meant to mean "oppressive," "intolerant," "chauvinist," "genocidal", "dictatorial," "racist" and/or "aggressive," all concepts that are at least loosely inspired by the ideology of actual fascism." ...

The far left is intolerant of any criticism or dissent and obviously are gripped by paranoia as we have seen with the unfortunate Randi Rhodes incident. And they do want a socialist nanny state that looks after every aspect of our lives.

...and don't forget (9:12) how those nice "furry liberals" busted into a church in (where else) San Francisco desecrating it simply because the church was against posters being spread around the city mocking the Last Supper.

Of course these same hypocrites would never have dared to enter a Mosque as they'd have lost their heads.

True democracy at its best, don't you think?

She was falling down drunk. Click on Gawker above for the link. Let's see if the Loons will retract their claims that it was a "hate crime" now that AAR has officially confirmed it was NOT a mugging as originally claimed by the ever-lying Rhodes.

When it was reported that a couple of hoods had jumped Air America talk show host Randi Rhodes and knocked out some of her teeth, leftists and wobblies cried foul. "Right wing hate machine!" said John Elliot, a fellow host on AAR. Maybe there is one of those but Air America has retracted its claim that she was mugged at all. "On Sunday evening, October 14, Air America host Randi Rhodes experienced an unfortunate incident hindering her from hosting her show. The reports of a presumed hate crime are unfounded." Poor Randi! But maybe, suggests a reader, it was an alcohol crime?

    Our own commenter GBH writes:

Randi Rhodes was no more assaulted by a right-wing fanatic on Monday than Dick Cheney was. She, in fact, fell down and injured her teeth outside of a Midtown Irish bar at around 6 o'clock Sunday evening after downing about fourteen Ketel One Bloody Marys. She was abusive to the barstaff and generally gross, crass, loud, and pretentious. I genuinely hope she has a speedy recovery. I never would've disclosed this (I believe that anyone should feel free to hang out at Irish pubs at any time and not be concerned about someone publishing their behavior) if Air America hadn't grossly interpreted a drunken indiscretion and allowed it to be morphed into some bullish rhetoric on air. Whatever journalistic integrity the station may have ever had is now completely compromised. The manipulation of the public diminishes any cause, whether just or fabricated.

    wolverine,

No, it is not true that leftists "would never have dared to enter a Mosque as they'd hae lost their heads". The real reason they would never enter a mosque to desecrate it is because they would never be so impudent as to insult the enemy. It's not about not losing their heads. Why would that be a problem for them, since they have already lost their minds? Actually millions of "progressives" would love nothing more than to be killed by the enemy. It' how a leftist dies a martyr's death.

    Rico,
So true, accept that the leftists there, and the leftists here are two different sects. Over there they wouldn't think twice to ending their lives, while over here they wouldn't think twice about running for their lives.

"Chiv, as you always tell people to be more informed, type in Republican & Conservative: Left Wing Fascism and it will tell you that the word and theory came from Mussolini...a left winger"

....and by saying Ron Paul has "picked up" these fascists, Rico, I assume you mean that they have abandoned the sinking Bush boat to join Ron Paul.

The problem with leftists like Sir Loin of Milquetoast and wannawipe is they do not even know what I mean when I call them leftists.....Go back to the basic definition, gents....it all has to do with RADICALISM and its use, glorification and incorporation into a person's world-view.

All of the despots of the mid-20th century were radicals....from Lenin to Minh to Saddam to the present day.....Chavez, Bin Laden and Mahmoud, embrace radical ideology that suplants tried and true ideology. That is why it is SOOOOO easy for me to identify people like whiney Mikey (where's he been?), Loin, blindrat, wannawipe, mental midget, broadsword as such leftists because in the end, their ideology supports radical supplantation of The American ideal of liberty, individual responsibility and freedom of thought and religion. Communism, socialism, Marxism, religious theocracy, you name the replacement, are all failed methods of human governance that MUST rely on radical methods to impose themselves on free people.....This is why the left in America ALWAYS ends up supporting the enemies of liberty because their world-view is radical and evil.

Very easy, don't you see......Authoritative, central power....totalitarianism, is the essence of what the American left desires....just like those lovely people of the 20th century and many we are fighting today.

Exactly who has been arguing for the "Unitary Executive" ? (Alito, Gonzales, Cheney)

Who has been actively assaulting the concepts of separation of powers? (Cheney's position occupies both the executive and legislative branch; signing statements attempt to marginalize actual legislation)

Who turned the Justice Department into a partisan goon squad? (Gonzales, Rove, CHeney).

Anonymous, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Sorry, Loin....I thought you'd be able to ID me from your humorous name....my cookies and history were purged and I forgot to put my name back on for the brilliant 8:37 AM post.....

If defense of our freedom, Bush has used his enumerated Constitutional powers as the elected executive to fulfill his oath to defend that very document....No laws have been broken, judges have reviewed and either endorced his behavior or ruled against him, Congress has backed him up with legislation and investigation...and he has gone on to work within our great laws to fulfill his oath. No impeachment hearings have been called to accuse Bush of violating his oath or breaking the law, so your claims are mute.

That is another aspect of radicalism....or leftist worldview....slander and propaganda.....I see a young Lenin ranting against the injustice in the world when I hear leftists like you rant againt "Chimpy." Just remember Lenin killed millions more than those bad ol Monarchs he was decrying....the leftist is ALWAYS the wrong choice even when the other choice is not so good.

No crap, Loin, just truth....Admit it....you want to replace what the founders of our great country (now the status quo) identified as the just and least problematic form of government and economy with a Marxist authority that regulates almost every economic, social and religious activity of the citizen.....you are a leftist and then, by definition, against liberty.

    blah blah blah.

Just keep ignoring my salient points on how your fetish/president's administration has been systematically demolishing democracy in this country. The will of the people, chanelled through the legal framework of the constitution, is our bullwark against tyranny, and the most threatening enemy of that venerated system is the Bush cabal.

"...you want to replace what the founders of our great country (now the status quo) identified as the just and least problematic form of government and economy..."

Even Alexander Hamilton, the closest thing to a Freemarket Fundie they had back in 1776, stated emphatically that corporations were "dangerous beasts that must be chained to the will of the people". The founders unanimously believed that corporations should be temporary, task-specific entities whose charters were maintained within tightly circmsribed time limits, or at the whim of the people's government.

Since the late 1860's, however, corporatons have woven their way into fictive citizenship -explicitly claiming the legal and civil rights of actual persons. But these are giant, immortal persons who enjoy the pooled resources of sometimes hundreds of thousands of real people, and their will has become the driving force of our government.

Contrary to your unsupportable statement above, the "status quo" would be recognizable to the Founders as the same arbitrary mercantilism that they rebelled against.

This has to be some of the most ignorant and idiotic reasoning that I've seen in awhile here.

From what I can tell....and I hate to refer to this screed as an "argument"...... but the "argument" seems to confuse ideology with national geopolitical strategy and diplomacy (wise or unwise) and to equate BOTH ideology and strategy to something akin to high school social cliques.

Wolverine and Cee, anyone who thinks there is a difference on the bottom line between Fascism/Nazism and Communism/Stalinism is fooling themselves. And today we have the additional threat of Islamo-Nazism (as opposed to Islamo-Fascism b/c of their desire to complete the Holocaust).

It is a semantic distinction with no difference to the hundreds of millions who have suffered, been tortured and died under their regimes. The potential for even more of the same is not gone from the world.

    Janet,

I lost the thread, but I appreciated what you said yesterday about political business-as-usual occasionally helping the right causes.

I do believe that is because Patsy' head is so filled with hatred for Cee, RK and me that there isn't room for much more.

    Grammie

"anyone who thinks there is a difference on the bottom line between Fascism/Nazism and Communism/Stalinism is fooling themselves. And today we have the additional threat of Islamo-Nazism "

This is an interesting perspective. Being a lumper myself I tend to agree that all manifestations of totalitarianism of any rhetorical stripe, on the basis of their societal results and effects on the liberties of individuals, can be discussed as being equivalent.

From this perspective Stalinism, Moaism, Nazi-ism, and Italian Fascism can be defined as oligarchies in which small groups gain absolute control over the civil and economic sectors of a society, and rule through arbitrary edict rather than the rule of law. What have been commonly called "leftist" examples typically achieved this status via revolutionary siezure of police, military, and media powers, while on the "right" this power is gained economically, through collusion with wealthy existing elites and major industries.

However, the lumping exercised by Wolverine above suggests that anything whatsoever done through a government constitutes "leftism", leaving outright fuedal/corporate anarchy as the only alternative.

But in reality, the best alternative going is a government for and by the people, which makes decisions based on popular will (elections; referenda) filtered through a legal framework (the constitution; Bill of Rights).

The neocon "Unitary Executive" concept is anathema to this construct; and everything the Bush admin has done clearly has been in the interests of circumscribing the basis of power in this country into fewer and fewer hands. The predictable outcome is totalitarianism, whether you choose to recognize it as the right-wing fascist variant or not.

That's because most people voted for them in hopes that they would block some of the lunacy Bush has put this country though, and I agree with them.

So basically their low number is a combination of the people who think Bush is doing a terrible job AND the ones who think he's doing a good job, whereas Bush's ratings are ONLY the people who think he's doing a good job. It's still basically a negative to Bush. *shrug*

Sez chiv....."That's because most people voted for them in hopes that they would block some of the lunacy Bush has put this country though, and I agree with them."

    Nah, he's not a leftist.

Yeah SLOB, I feel like the room is getting smaller everyday under this "totalitarianism" regime President Bush has set up for America.

My "rights" have all but been lost under this administration, as I can no longer say what I want, do what I want or even think what I want.

I've been wetting in my pants now thinking what will I do the next time I have a conversation over the phone with my close drug dealer friend, or God Forbid! my Muslim friend who has close ties to Bin Laden.

Totalitarian may be even too soft a word when I think of what he has done in regards to freedom and the rights we all used to enjoy!

Although I can't think of one right he's taken away from me. I mean one right I actually used that he took away from me.

Be fair. I did specify that "totalitarianism is the predictable result" of Bush's power grabs, Mr. Swayze, not that we are in one now.

What will your tune be in 2009, if Hillary rides her current level of support into the White House, to enjoy all of the new latitude that the Bushies have accrued for the executive? I know I wont like it.

"The low approval ratings are BECAUSE the dems haven't delivered on ANY promises. Face it, the democrats don't have any leaders among them. Pelosi and Reid are at the rudder! You picked Pelosi to head the congress, and she is all about photo-ops.... not meaningful legislation."

...and they catch hell from the progressive base of the party for these serial failures. Olbermann, the Young Turks, Rachel Maddow...most progressive opinion outlets are as scathing of the Dem "leadership" as you are. I sincerely hope that these stooges notice the polls and begin to fear their constituents in the next elections.

"As much as you bitch about Bush, at least he is leading!"

Please - orchestrating an array of disasters and then clearly stating your intent to leave the mess for your replacement to deal with is not leadership.

Phony Soldier, you have NO IDEA what it's like to live up here in the north. I live in the city of New York, and I can't tell you what I am surrounded by.

Phonies, fakes, hypocrites, losers, etc. God forbid, if they ever had to actually think for themselves instead of going with the popular ideal at the time, as I think they'd all shit in their pants.

"Oh! I can't believe all these horrible things being said about the illegals! They never caused me any harm when they sheared my 20 acre lawn or cleaned my home"...

"...and how about that horrible man Bush, who actually is sending our nice boys into war just for oil"...as their sons are still living at home in their condo on 5th ave, without a care in the world while they drive away in their gas guzzling Escalade.

Yeah, we have some good northerners up here too, but not enough as the sickening elections of democratic spineless leaders will attest to (Hillary, Shumer, Spitzer, etc).

People are afraid Phony Soldier, and when it comes to this war it shows. They hide it by putting down President Bush, but if you look a little harder you can see it in how they say it.

Like the girl who gets raped or killed in a bad neighborhood. The first thing they'll say is "well she should have known better than to walk in that neighborhood," because they don't want to accept the fact that there are bad people out there. They hide behind this fear by blaming the innocent.

Not that it's the killers fault, but that SHE was at fault.

Same thing with any war we get into now with these terrorists. These pussies and anti-Americans can't face the fact that there are actually people out there that have been trying for decades to wipe us out, so they blame the president after we get attacked.

You know like 9/11 was somehow our fault. Just like the girl in the bad neighborhood who gets killed, it's HER fault, and not the killers.

Our fault, and not the Islamic terrorists.

Scared little pansies afraid of their own shadow. thank God for a president that has stood up agaisnt these animals no matter what the polls say.

like I said Phony Soldier, I live in a city where if we were to take polls of the entire population about what constitutes a man, I'm sure it would be 70% that a man is "sensitive" as opposed to the 30% who would disagree.

"As much as you bitch about Bush, at least he is leading!"

For instance: Bush today explained his planned veto of the SCHIP bill in this way:

"That’s why the president has a veto. Sometimes the legislative branch wants to go on without the president, pass pieces of legislation, and the president can then use the veto to make sure he’s a part of the process. And that’s what I fully intend to do. I’m going to make sure. And that’s why when I tell you I’m going to sprint to the finish, and finish this job strong, that’s one way to ensure that I am relevant. That’s one way to ensure that I’m in the process. And I intend to use the veto."

Not a peep about principle, policy, or ideology. That's not leadership; that pathetic. Petulence - that's what you people are following.

"Same thing with any war we get into now with these terrorists. These pussies and anti-Americans can't face the fact that there are actually people out there that have been trying for decades to wipe us out, so they blame the president after we get attacked."

Some people would say that your piece above reflects belly-shivvering fear, Gluto.

Let the dear leader take the full reins because "someone out there has been trying to kill us for decades". Let hm start a war with a country that is clearly not one of those "lurking killers", while he ignores those who actually did attack us because their kings and poobahs own 30% of the record national debt that he has racked up in six short years.

Are you aware that in a speech a few weeks back Bush called the 9/11 hijackers "19 kids lured onto airplanes"? Awwww, how precious. Poor little Saudis. How's that fit your tough line on crime?

The low approval ratings are BECAUSE the dems haven't delivered on ANY promises. Face it, the democrats don't have any leaders among them. Pelosi and Reid are at the rudder! I agree with this 100%, apart from the last sentence. I'd rather be in a boat that's going nowhere than a boat that's going over a cliff.

Phony Soldier: You're out of your element, Donny. Don't even bother. Not only haven't you got a leg to stand on, but to start throwing out names like "gay"? Wow. You sure got me. Really, are you 12 years old?

"[blank]": First of all, is it really so hard to pick an actual name? You don't even have to register.
Second, what is your obsession with slapping labels on people? I've made it pretty clear what my positions are in several threads already. Is trying to shuffle me into a group I don't fit into based on my dislike of a particular administration's policies really going to make your life better?

"First of all, is it really so hard to pick an actual name? You don't even have to register."

    Chiv,
in fairness I believe that Phony is being honest here. Under different names he has made claims of having served in the peacetime military, but elsewhere exhibits such base ignorance of fundamental aspects of military life (e.g. a persistent conflation of "active duty" with "combat duty") that this cannot be the case - hence "Phony (sic) Soldier" represents a rare moment of veracity for this snarling knuckle-dragger.

Thanks, but when I referred to "[blank]", I was talking about the person who posted at 1:28, not Phony Soldier. Hence the request for an actual name.

Cecelia, that one is a no-brainer........

Grammie, I read the lovely expose (ek-spoh-zey) of whiney mikey the other day without comment. I had hoped he would not leave the board and just not use the technique a la Bobo et Patsy (more french).

And as usual, both Loin and wannawipe miss my point entirey. It is a semantics exercise to point out that the origin of "left" vs. "right" was an identification of accepted tactics of a worldview....revolutionary versus nonrevolutionary/radical versus measured...and I see the leftist tactics in our system as wrong in light of the fact that Bush has done nothing illegal, the Congress has done nothing illegal and the citizen's constiutional rights are intact.

The list thrown back at me is filled with radicals and petty dictators who had little to compare in carnage to the leftists I listed, especially those more concerned about converting economic and social norms....Loin cannot face the death inflicted on the world by Marxist religious theology and is a true-believer that a diet-version would not be so bad. It is still, at its core, anti-American and diminishes liberty.

And the other basic thread of American leftist fanaticism is secularism, the deep hatred of Judeo-Christian teaching, that is a key component of America's founding. Loin and wannawipe can continue to flail against the truth (along with the missing broadsword), but the radical hatred expressed towards those who place God as the creator of all (including all of the founders), including our rights as free-people, will continue to poison the discussion and make political reconcilliation impossible.

Loin, I see no assessment of Al Queda in Iraq in your post nor do I see any current information on the ground....the latest any of these fine people served was in 2006....some go as far back as 2003. Since any of them served, there has been great changes and improvements as reported by General Petraeus and recently in the press....violence down, troop casualties and deaths down and AQI crippled.

The importance of the endorcement of miltant radical islamic terrorism must be included in any evaluation of precipitous withdrawal from the region as they advocate. The people in your posts do not even address this most important reality. Did they have any opinion about AQI and the national security consequences of their recommendations with regard to them, Loin?

Of course these simple captains can't have your holistic grasp on the situation in Iraq, Phari-cee, but give them some credit.

Petreaus lied to support his Patrons. His numbers were fiction, as he himself has been forced to admit: shot in forehead = battle casualty; shot in back = ethnic slaying; no accounting for car bombs in the Betrayer's figures....meaningless.

    also...

AQI was never significant factor of the violence. Remember Col Sutherland's assessment?

"I can count them [foreign fighters] as a total I have engaged, dead or alive, in the 10 months I've been here on one hand," says Col. David Sutherland, the U.S. commander of coalition forces in the hotly contested area of Diyala province, an insurgent stronghold region some 35 miles northeast of Baghdad. There, Sutherland says, those involved in al Qaeda are largely dispossessed locals, not jihadists who have come from elsewhere. "The recruiting program is [that] al Qaeda may send five or eight individuals into a village. They recruit from those who have no power base, no place in society," including, he adds, former male prostitutes and the mentally ill."

Sounds like AQI has ALWAYS been crippled - no great victory to see here. ....but if you are right, then how can you argue against leaving now!

Very thin foundation on which to base your resistance to enlisting in your precious freedom crusade, Phari-cee.

Of course these simple captains can't have your holistic grasp on the situation in Iraq, Phari-cee, but give them some credit.

On what basis do you issue this sarcasm, Cecelia?

I posted this article because these 12 captain do deserve to be heard, and the WaPo had for some reason hidden it in an internet-only sideline publication - hasn;t gotten much press at all. Also, which Democrat is echoed by these soldiers? Their point is that there is no mission without adequate force support and personnel. There statement furthermore is coherent in regard to available facts.

Pro-war statements of this sort are similarly to be given respectuful attention, but when they boil down, as they tend to, into faith-based adherence to merely "staying the course", then they should be discounted on that basis.

....and I think that it is beneath you to equate the imminent concern expressed by these captains for the lives of those they once led, and for the very viability of America's military readiness, with bitter 30-year old tales told on a political candidate.

It has been well documented on this site that Olbermann has used completely unsupported claims of Nazism to smear those whom he does not agree with or cable TV news competitiors who are more successful than he is.
Olbermann's sordid history in this regard dates back to 1998 when he was host of something called the Big Show. Unable to muster substantive arguments to register his reservations about the work that Ken Starr was doing in his investigation of the Clinton's (as he was directed to do by Attorney General Reno), Olbermann suggested that Starr could be compared to one of history's most notorious and murderous Nazis.
Here is the relevant quote from Olbermnann on August 18, 1998:
"Can Ken Starr ignore the apparent breadth of the sympathetic response to the President?s speech? Facially, it finally dawned on me that the person Ken Starr has reminded me of facially all this time was Heinrich Himmler, including the glasses. If he now pursues the President of the United States, who, however flawed his apology was, came out and invoked God, family, his daughter, a political conspiracy and everything but the kitchen sink, would not there be some sort of comparison to a persecutor as opposed to a prosecutor for Mr. Starr?"
Then in July, 2006, Olbermann unleashed Nazi attacks again, this time against O'Reilly, the target of Olbermann's almost nightly fits of jealousy with his spurious WPITW attacks.
The whole story of Olbermann's "O'Reilly supports Nazis" accusations can be found here:
    http://www.olbermannwatch.com/archives/2006/07/olbermann_defen.php
However, to sum it up, Olby appeared at a Television Critics of America meeting and held a paper cut out of O'Reiily's face over his own and flashed the Seig Heil salute, implying that O"Reilly is a Nazi or symapthizes with them. This, of course, like many of Olbermann's nutty attacks, is the discourse of a desperate, attention seeking hack with a severe anti-social personality disorder (thus the multiple times that he has been fired and the fact that few people who have worked with him in the past have any desire to associate with him).
Anyway, Olbermann went on Leno's show several days later and was aksed about this incident by Leno. At first Olberman attempted to make some nauseating joke about the fact that he had publicly flashed a gesture symbolizing the worst kind of fear and terrror for Jews and others who were victims of the Holocaust. He laughed about it and said he was just trying to say "yoo-hoo" to somebody. When that joke went flat, he tried to disingenously claim that O'Reilly "supported Nazis". Go to the link I have cited above and you will find a complete explanation of how low and completely ridiculous this charge against O'Reilly is.
Finally the Anti-Defamation chided Olbermann for his use of the Seig Heil salute:
"your repeated use of the Nazi salute has resulted in many complaints from our constituents, including Holocaust survivors and their families who find the use of this gesture offensive and repugnant in any context…We believe that the use of gestures and imagery associated with the Nazis – even in jest – only serves to trivialize the Holocaust and denigrate the memory of the six million Jews and others who died as a result of Hitler’s Final Solution.”
Of course, per usual, Olbermann completely ignored the ADL's concerns.

If I can stumble to the precinct, I'm voting straight GPO.

Ever since Chubby Hubby died, I still can't believe how selfish he was, my limit is eleven martinis instead of the nice round dozen that he made and served me.

Of course, it is the olive on a stick displacement of drink and the food.

Thank you, Cesealia. I have been out of sorts for years and you solved my problem. :)

    Bottoms up, dear!

Thanks, patsy/aap/spike/philby/kissel/jennifer/slob/marx/stalin/mao/lenin and lennon/etc. for your typical libnut Olbyspitton/ACLU shit. No one believes that and no one ever did. If your not man enough to hide under the bed and pee your pants at the threat of terrorism, you need to get out of this country now. We need real men who will shred the Constitution and run fast, not people who spout stupid slogans! But what else would I expelct from you? Nothing. Thats what I say.

And your not as smart as youy think you are. Jimmy Two Bits and I know exactly what you are you traiterous unamerican slimy thing you are.

It's been well documented on this site that all liberal men wear panties and bras and dance in Conga Lines and that Olbyermahn is the Disc Jokey that he watches the liberal men weraing women's underwear and that he secretly hopes they fall off so he can watch their bare asses and that Larry Craig has never been in Minnesota and that Olbeyermahn just made that up to embarass him and the Republicans and that Mark Foley was never elected to Congress, etc., and that no Republican has ever been indicted much less convicted of any federal or state crime, etc., and that the US never invaded Iraq, etc., and that although we never invaded Iraq we won there, etc., and that Albert O'Gore never won the popular vote, etc., and that there are terrorists under every bed in America, etc., and that Olbeyermahn makes up all these lies and that the MSM repeats them because they all hate America, etc., and that Petulant Prince, etc., is right, etc.s, and that if you dont believe all of this your not fit to breathe American aire.

I've got to stop spending so much time on this site and take care of my laundry. My husband told me he is willing to turn his boxers inside-out to get an extra day of wear, but that he won't skip a day and let them air out. Damn I've missed my period again. We're going to have to add another wing to the trailer. But I am not going to listen to Planned Parenthood.

Hear's proof that the First Amendment is not really part of the Constitution (just the Bill of Rights, which was written by traiterous and treacherous libnuts):

    You're a hoot! :D

But don't you think Cesealia and Janette Malkin deserve their turn?

Can someone give me a ride to my AA meeting? I bought a nre insulated martini shaker and it won't find in the Sedan DeVille's cupholder and if you don't think this is going to be a cold winter your Billy Goat's got tits.
