Love those Huckabee zingers.
Note to Fox News: Please do not schedule a debate up against Sunday Night Football. I'm surfing back and forth and getting dizzy.
Just got home and found this.
NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 20 — Bobby Jindal, a conservative Republican congressman from the New Orleans suburbs and the son of immigrants from India, was elected Louisiana’s governor Saturday, inheriting a state that was suffering well before Hurricane Katrina left lingering scars two years ago.
Say What?
Hold The Phone!
A Conservative Republican?
A Conservative Republican?
A Conservative Republican?
Why I thought KATRINA was one of the nails in the Republican coffin?
A Conservative Republican?
A PRO-LIFE Conservative Republican?
By the way.
Love this debate so far.
Puck, you might be interested in this:
"Chickie Love, you forget to mention that Aaron Broussard the Dem Jefferson Parish President barely squeaked by against two unknown Repubs b/c of his monumental derilection of duty in being solely responsible for 90% of the damage in Jefferson Parish.
Old Metairie (Metry) was flooded via the back door from the break in the Seventh Street Canal. The rest of the flooding (and it was most of it) is laid directly on his shoulders b/c he ordered the pumps evacuated.
There were bitter feelings in this election. My brother, a longtime supporter of Broussard was almost unhinged over it b/c Broussard did yeoman's work in getting the parish up and running and the only reason he could perform was b/c he was RESPONSIBLE for the damage.
If Jefferson had only been damaged through the back door the recovery in the City would have much better.
Bobby Jindal narrowly lost to Blanco in the governor's race before Katrina and Rita. A few thousand votes could have alleviated so much of the misery and suffering.
Just one little tidbit. You know the mantra is that Bush wanted blacks to suffer and die.
Proportionatel to Parish demographics far more whites (including New Orleans) died than blacks. St Bernard, which was at least 90% white, suffered the most in deaths and physical damage (98% of every structure received substantial damage.
Dig deeper than sound bites and TV images.

I am disappointed that I could not vote for him in this victory. Mama and I voted for him in every election he ran. He is a remarkable man who has been shunned by the MSM b/c he is a conservative in the deep south and is a person of color.
Grammie
I am impressed with a number of candidates tonight, one being John McCain. I agree that Putin=KGB and tanks rolling through Red Square. Not really impressed with Thompson. Giuliani, Huckabee and Romney also doing well.
Nice touch that Thompson got the last word, and I think he used the opportunity well.
I agree with the focus group - I don't think this debate had a winner. I think McCain's qualifications are best, but as the woman participant said, he does not sell himself well.
Ron Paul is winning the text polling. LOL. I think someone is stacking the results, as Hannity said.

Here's the blog I read when I got home.

It sounds a little bit that LA is a lot like NJ, but that said. It looks like the folks down there might have had enough.
What floored me was the fact that LA has been Democrat for who knows how long and they voted in a Conservative Pro-Life Republican.
Look out Bobby, the MSM will be out in force. because this guy looks like he has a future.
I love the fact that on the post debate is a 'Hannity & Colmes' with both Sean & Allan.
Oh thats right, MSNBC had those two "Fair & Balanced guys, Olby & Chris.
The funny part so far has to be all of the Ron Paul crew voting that Ron won the debate.
It's driving Hannity NUTS!
I liked when Sean said to Rudy that Allan voted for him for Mayor.
Allan said he did, but on the liberal ticket.
Here comes Hannity's buddy, Ron Paul.
I don't think Hannity bought Paul's answer that he is a Republican and not a Libertarian.
Puck, thanks for the link.
I believe that the incompetent weepy Blanco beating out Bobby Jindal by such a slim margin may have been as close to catastrohic as Katrina and Rita were for Louisiana.
I was not surprised by Blanco and Landrieu at all. I was floored, though, by Nagin's despicable and virtually criminal performance.
Although we did not live in the city any longer and couldn't vote we were absolutely elated over his reform government after decades of the Landreiu and Morial machines that put the Daly machine in Chicago to shame. New Jersey politics are the reform politics of the millenium compared to Louisiana politics.
I simply don't understand how he was so ineffective, actually bordering on criminal. It baffles me to this day.

Ever hear of "ethnic cleansing"? Nobody's left in the region who can't buy their own generators and security team. Let's see what happens in the next elections held in Dallas, Huston, and Little Rock, where all of the real people from NO took refuge.
"Real conservatives"! Your "real conservatives" have spent twice the inflation adjusted dollars to "rebuild Iraq" as it took to rebuild Japan, and have gotten worse than nothing in return. You people can't manage shit, you can only get other greedy people on your side by promising them that people lower down the ladder than themselves will bear the costs of society.
Stones and glass houses, Sir loin of Milquetoast.....
American leftists have "The Great Society," and the war on poverty and the current American public school system.....worse things ever to happen to the family and poor individuals and is responsible for generations of fatherless children who think it is normal to get a few checks from Washington every month instead of one weekly from an employer that means something a whole lot more.....
Leftists also have the ruins of worldwide Marxist hegemony and the aftermath inflicted on tens of millions of people resulting in their lacking of the liberty basic to all our creation. Nice legacy, Loin.
So please Loin, look in the mirror and see your extremism and radicalism is a lot more destructive than the conservative ideals of small government, political and religious liberty in the face of totalitarianism and free markets.
BTW, your analogy to post WWII Japan is incorrect....the Japanese where demoralized and agreed to unconditional surrender after we killed thousands of their civilians with two atom bombs.....Today, we are facing an equally radical enemy who uses terrorism and human civilian shields to thwart our efforts to aid Iraq in their struggle to achieve a stable democratic state. Shall we start acting like we did during WWII and end this conflict the same way, Loin?.....How about dropping a bomb on Iran to show all radical muslims that The US is serious about stopping the advance of theocratic islamic totalitarianism like we were against fascist Japanese imperialism?....Does that sound like a good idea?
I don't think it does, but it would be cost effective as you are demanding.
God bless the Bush economy!
"...Gas prices hit a record nationwide average of $3.23 per gallon in late May before receding a little, though prices are expected to soar again later this year. Food costs have increased 4.5 percent over the past 12 months, partly because of higher fuel costs. Egg prices were 44 percent higher, while milk was up 21.3 percent over the past 12 months to nearly $4 a gallon, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The average family of four is spending anywhere from $7 to $10 extra a week — $40 more a month — on groceries alone, compared to a year ago, according to retail consultant Burt Flickinger III.
And while overall wage growth is a solid 4.1 percent over the past 12 months, economists say the increases are mostly for the top earners..."

I wonder how Olby will attack McCain's swip at Hillary over Woodstock. He noted he was "tied up at the time."
How will Olbermann attack him for that?
He'll find a way to defend his master Hillary
I've seen discussions on no less than 3 of the Democratic websites recently on which industries/corporations they want to "nationalize" when they "win" the presidency. So far the nominees include healthcare, the oil industry, and insurance companies. They're a bunch of socialists/communists in disguise. I saw one entire thread on one board devoted to chiding Bill Maher for not taking the 9/11 conspiracy theorists seriously (they wanted to contact his advertisers until someone reminded that nut he is on HBO and there are NO advertisers on HBO). Still another thread was ripping apart "moderates" which they have no use for in this party which is increasingly run by the extreme and I do mean extreme left wing. The GOP isn't without their faults but at least they don't want to turn this country into a Socialist/Communist state.
I loved seeing Bill Maher get attacked by his own lunatic fringe. He helps to create these hate monger zombies and now he gets upset when they come after his brain? Priceless. When you try to turn political discourse into lynch mobs with pitchforks and touches, don't be surprised when they turn on you. Bill, you are either with the zombies on everything, or you are against them. Too bad Olbermann doesn't have a live audience so that the "truthers" could shout him down.
Paul is always telling everyone to read there constitution, but he always seems to miss the fact that the main roll of the federal government is to protect the United States from attack. He thinks if he adopts Jimmy Carters foreign policy and we all hide under our beds, no one will attack the United States. History has proven him wrong time and time again. His sucking up to the liberal media machine makes me sick. They will kiss his butt until the primaries are over, and then he becomes just another republican. John McCain learned that the hard way. When a republican panders to the left wing hate machine, he becomes nothing more than one of their useful idiots. See Joe Scarborough.
Poor phony soldier...
I was anonymous, son (forgot to post my name) and I am a top earner, boy...definitely earning more than you...
However, America wasn't founded upon the principle of "I've got mine, screw everyone else". This is about working people, the kind that you neocons PRETEND to be concerned about...
Amazing how a dumbass like you can earn that much money. I imagine that fellatio would have to be involved somehow, eh?
I loved seeing Bill Maher get attacked by his own lunatic fringe.
Posted by: The Factor at October 22, 2007 12:25 PM
Interesting point of view. Do you also consider Fred Phelps to be part of Bush's lunatic fringe, and love seeing him attack Bush and "thank god for dead soldiers"? Did you laugh your ass off when the right-wing lunatic Timoty McVeigh bombed a government building who "helped create that hate monger zombie"? Do you cheer when "pro life" people hypocritically kill abortion doctors?
Or do you consider those people to be so far outside any reasonable position that they can't really be considered Republicans, but for some reason still like to consider 9/11 conspiracy nutjobs actually related to the Democrats or Bill Maher in some way?
Nutjobs are nutjobs. What's the point to trying to associate them with anyone in the mainstream? (well, except for using them to promote your own personal agenda, of course)
What do phony soldier and Bush have in common?
They each enter a fray, proclaim victory, then run...
I never lie, son. And, I've already stated what I do...
Or do you consider those people to be so far outside any reasonable position that they can't really be considered Republicans, but for some reason still like to consider 9/11 conspiracy nutjobs actually related to the Democrats or Bill Maher in some way?

The 9/11 truthers make up 26% of your party, check the polls. They are on every liberal blog. You own them, you keep them.
I thought the discussion was interesting. I am leaning toward Huckabee as well. I am not sure why you think Keith Olbermann will attack the Fox debate focus group. They seem like regular folks, none seem to make any crazy statements.
"Interesting point of view. Do you also consider Fred Phelps to be part of Bush's lunatic fringe,"
No since he was a Democrat and a big time supporter of Al Gore and was even invited to both Clinton inaugurals.
I wonder if Olbermann is going to carry the water for the blue blogs regarding the return of Imus to the airwaves.....
So far Bill Richardson and Bob Kerrey have voiced support for Imus' return with the typical ideologue condemnation from the nuts....

"Richardson, Kerrey, embrace Imus"
Well Oralmutt will surely now lose his 5 viewer's that have less than 4 legs. He is about to out himself as a FOX NEWS WATCHER. LMAO! Wonder what management thinks, okay I know, thinking and management for NBUTTC is an oxymoron? Wasn't he suppose to be watching a football game? Thanks for helping FOX in the LIVE rating's keithy.
blindrat certainly is a condescending fuckwad, isn't he?

My party? I'm an independent. Are you suggesting "they" make up 26% of my brain? Or are you speaking more literally, and are actually talking about my left leg?
Assuming you were actually talking about the Democrats and not "my party", that sounds pretty skewed to me. I live in a very liberal city, and I don't know a single person who thinks the government blew up our buildings. And what does it matter who posts on which blogs? Since when does that reflect an accurate representation of anything?
Olbermann will blame Bush for the Cali fires!
Poor liberals. So much hate, so little brains.
Brace for it OW folks, Olby beat O'Reilly in the demo (DVR):
http://insidecable.blogsome.com/2007/10/22/fridays-numbers-70/
Of course, TVnewser is crowing about it:
Monday, Oct 22
Olbermann Wins Demo Friday @ 8P & 12M
Countdown with Keith Olbermann won the 8pmET hour in the A25-45 demo Friday night topping The O'Reilly Factor by 25,000 viewers (live+ same day). Bill O'Reilly still had the #1 program in total viewers with 1.4M, more than doubling Olbermann's audience. O'Reilly was anchoring, but it was a previously aired program (Oct. 9).
Olbermann also won the A25-54 demo for his re-air at Midnight up against the re-airs of FNC's Hannity & Colmes and CNN's Larry King Live.
Olbermann's 8pm show was the third highest rated demo show of the night (live + same day) behind MSNBC Investigates at 11pmET and Larry King at 9pmET.

8PM - P2+ (25-54)
OReilly Factor (Rerun Episode) - 1,401,000 viewers (237,000) LSD: 1,407,000 viewers (238,000)
Countdown w/ Olbermann (Live Episode) - 639,000 viewers (222,000) LSD: 689,000 viewers (263,000)
TVNewser is touting that Olby won in demo on Friday. Of course, what the headline doesn't mention is that the O'Reilly Factor show was a rerun, Olby was live, and the demo that Olby allegedly won was the disputed live+same day DVR. Meet the new TVNewser, same as the old lying TVNewser.
Olby is reeeaaaallly orange tonight. He looks like a large bottle of Jones Orange Soda.
If you would like to tell NBC that having a polarizing figure such as Olbermann on their Sunday night football show, you can let them know here.

Remind me: was that before or after he picketed the 1997 Inaugural Ball as well as Al Gore Sr.'s funeral, shouting to Al Jr. "Your dad's in hell!"? But you are correct about the marginal Democratic thing, so that was clearly my own assumption that a religious whacko would tend to be part of the religious right. My bad. (of course he's really a DINO anyway, given that most of his former supporters turned on him when his real views became more apparent)
Not that it matters of course, since the main point I was making is that NUTJOBS ARE NUTJOBS, regardless of which side they're on.
I do find it interesting that of the three examples I brought up, the only one you had issue with is the one who says offensive words, rather than actually murdering people, but that's another whole discussion.
I am actually. Thanks for noticing. And I am not a bit orange.
And I love how you choose to attack me rather than dispute the fact that Olby is orange. Oh wait - you can't dispute the fact that Olby is reeeealllly orange, so you hurl abuse. Typical libnut behavior. Is that you, Katy?
Hmmm... I wonder which one of you will be the first to shout, "Your Mom's orange!!"
My money's on the anonymous one.
That was funny,
Grammie
Hey, Johnny Fraud...
Did you notice that there wasn't ONE SINGLE black person in the crowd in that video you posted... It is VERY pitiful the lengths some in this country will go to to not even appear fair....
Just an observation...
I remain Proud To Be A Liberal
I could be wrong but I thought the video was a focus group of undecided voters watching the Republican debate. What percentage of the Black population do you think should be represented? I saw a focus group moderated by Frank Luntz with undecided Democratic voters (one of the Democratic debates) and African Americans participated.
Yeah, Carlin also mentioned that the show is only good for the first 35 mins.
Go get 'em George, thanks for the back-handed praise!
Another clinton cronie off to the big house....

George Carlin:( talking about Countdown with Keith Olbermann)
"I've seen every news show that's out there, and this is the best news show on TV."
Go get em' George !
Posted by: at October 23, 2007 10:34 PM
George Carlin said that? You mean THE George Carlin, the one whose brain looks like Swiss cheese from all the dope he's smoked? Wow, talk about an endorsement with gravitas, no? Let me know when those Springsteen and Bon Jovi fellas get out on tour to tell me to vote for Hillary. Can't wait to drink from the fountain of political wisdom that these sages will be offering up!
"the large number Republican politicians/perverts in prison with him won't necessarily cause him angst.
Posted by: Anonymous at October 24, 2007 3:58 PM
. . . as opposed to the large number of Democratic law breakers who escaped the specter of long sentences or from serving prison terms altogether because of their benefactor, Bubba Boy Clinton. I refer specifically to such characters as the dirty money campaign donors who fled the country when investigations which would have implicated the Clintons began and the avalanche of last minute pardons for the scummy Clinton cronies and clients of Clinton cronies. And, of course let us not forget Sandy "Sansabelt" Berger, stuffer of classified documents extraordinaire.
You were the one that raised criminal behavior in Republican political circles. I simply answered you by noting that such behavior was extant amongst Democrat politicos as well.
Here I am posting on this humble little blog little realizing that I and my "kind have caused great, great damage to our democracy in so doing" Wow, I did that? Ain't that a kick in the head!
C'mon, get a grip anon. To paraphrase you:
"Why do you insist on giving [me] such extraordinary power even now?"
Hank, do you think this might be the very same George Carlin?
"Comedian George Carlin blames the victims on the Southern California wildfires. Appearing on the October 24 edition of "The View" Carlin said, because many of these home owners "overbuild" and "put nature to the test," "they get what’s coming to them."
This rant was too much even for noted left-wing co-host Joy Behar who felt his statement was "a little harsh." Carlin continued that he "can’t wait for the sea levels to rise" and "for some of these cities to disappear." Carlin added that these people who "do all this moron stuff" are selfish and "want their toys."
This must be your swiss cheese Carlin, not the brilliant analysist mentioned by Chicken Blogger.
Grammie
Oh dear, I ascribed the words of Reverend Fundy Hypocrite to one of the all time brilliant anaylsists, George Carlin.
It was The Reverend Fundy (best known to his family, friends and wild eyed radical Nazi followers as Der Fuehrer) Hypocrite who REALLY said ""overbuild" and "put nature to the test," "they get what’s coming to them." He continued to evoke a reference to the biblical flood of Noah "can’t wait for the sea levels to rise" and "for some of these cities to disappear."
Bobo, you are beyond foolish.
You are a caricature!
Grammie
BOBO, I have never thought of myself nor has anyone else ever thought of me as a satirist.
Makes no difference, though.
I GOT YOUR NUMBER don't I dear? :)

Janet:
After taking a 2 week hiatus from posting on this blog, it has occured to me that I do owe you an apology for one thing, and one thing only.
I called you the 'B' word in one of my last posts here.....and that is NOT the real me. I have never called a woman what I called you in 'real' life in my entire life, and yet I have done it three times on this blog. For that I am truly sorry. While I believe some aspects of your worldview is seriously misguided, I do not think you are what I called you....not for a minute.
That said, I have no clue about most of what was said after that evening because I've only checked in here a couple of times since. I did, however check in a couple of days ago and noted how you gleefully agreed with someone who happened to call something I said "unhinged", .... even though the very one who called me that is on record of advocating genocide of Muslems....more than once.
As for the 'name' issue, you do NOT know the full story! Far from it. You basically were left with the impression J$ wanted you to be left with, and NOT the unvarnished truth.
You asked me a couple of weeks ago if I "was THAT stupid"...and I guess the answer was yes...but I would prefer to use the word naive in place of stupid.
I will discuss that in my next post.
