I don't really watch Fox or MSNBC (except for keith). I watch CNN IF I get my news from tv at all. I get most of my news from an international perspective and American independent media. Everytime I tune into Fox it is celebrity news, OJ, Dog the Bounty Hunter, you really have to sift through to get any actual news. And when they do report the news, it's "America is doing great!". It is some scary 1984 shit! Purely Orwellian.

On a side note, I read Culture Warrior last night. Borrowed it from my next door neighbor, who is a neocon himself. It took me a whole 30 minutes to read.

Phil Donahue started out with higher ratings than Olbermann. But yeah, I think MSNBC would have stuck with a liberal Keith Olbermann if only because they had changed their lineup so often (aside for Matthews) and were catching flak for that.

I think it finally dawned on them that they needed to give their shows a chance to find an audience before dumping them.

What I don't think MSNBC would have done is to stick with an equally partisan host, who ran a one-sided show as Olbermann does, if that host was conservative.

That sort of utterly one-sided take on the news would have caused too much of a hue and cry among the television and media critics that MSNBC would have pressured that host to change his format.

On Veteran's Day 2007, our draft dodging president didn't even have the decency to appear at the ritual of laying the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns! Outrageous!! If this president cared one iota about veterens, and didn't think of them as merely chess pieces, or characters in a war-like video game in his twisted and deeply disturbed little mind, he could peel himself away from his Texas ranch and return to Washington to pay proper and traditional graditude to our service member heroes.

Share Marking his fifth Veterans Day since the invasion of Iraq, President Bush honored U.S. troops past and present at a tearful ceremony for four Texans who died there.

The White House had said Bush was going to also use his Veterans Day speech to scold Congress for not sending him a veterans spending bill. But the president finished without any reference to the bill or Congress.

"In their sorrow, these families need to know and families all across our nation of the fallen need to know that your loved ones served a cause that is good and just and noble," Bush said. "And as their commander in chief, I make you this promise: Their sacrifice will not be in vain."
