Caught on Tape: Another Keith Olbermann Lie!

How does Keith sleep at night?

    What a TOOL

    Another great catch J$.

Willie Mays didn't get nearly so many.

    Neither did Fred Merkle.

That could have been some of the most concisely embarrassing ownage ever, if not for the silly music and whatnot.

That kind of intense intensity and intense burrowing into the truth and intense burnishing of fact and pounding of fact so that even the imbecile masses can decipher fact will get you the cover of Time.

To be charitable (I know why? It's Olbermann), my guess is that he and his producers - as usual, just relied on blogs for their stories. In this case, Huffington Post; and never checked the accusations fully.

This is what they do all the time. All...the...time.

Rely on liberal blogs for "news" and never check the veracity of the stories.

So, it wasn't a lie as much as it was deeply incompetent and reckless journalism. IOW, standard operating procedure at Countdown.

Standards which, by now, should have resulted in Olbermann's being reduced to reading hockey scores for a sports program in Dubuque.

But the media critics just love his writing ability! He writes so well! And he's so brave.

    Phooey.

    > So, it wasn't a lie as much as it was deeply incompetent and reckless journalism.

Could be, but just as reckless disregard can elevate an accident to a homicide, so can reckless disregard of journalistic ethics elevate incompetence to a lie. Or to look at it another way, if Olbermann tomorrow night does a mea culpa, apologizes, and admits he was wrong about this, on air, I will strike the term "lie" from this post. If he DOESN'T apologize and admit his error, now that the truth is known, then he is intentionally allowing the falsehood to stand, and then there is no question that it is a deliberate lie.

    Pills and lots of 'em!

"if Olbermann tomorrow night does a mea culpa, apologizes, and admits he was wrong about this, on air, I will strike the term "lie" from this post. If he DOESN'T apologize and admit his error"

Sure, if he's shown this evidence (or something like it) and doesn't make a retraction, he's lying.

    No other explanation.

More likely, he's just so arrogant that he doesn't give a hoot and simply won't issue a correction. Just ignore it.

Anyway, we know - everyone who visits this site absolutely knows it - that if this had been O'Reilly getting it wrong, Olbermann would spend an entire segment seething in condemnation of "that fraud O'Reilly and his lies".

    > Sure, if he's shown this evidence

Oh he'll see it all right. He and his staff read this blog daily. They've lifted from it (without attribution) and reacted to it numerous times. The Countdown blog has too.

    context

It's amazing that a pathological liar/morally devoid creature such as this can remain on the air. Seriously, does this guy even have a conscious?

You see when news anchors make these kind of mistakes, you can understand.
But in Keith's case he is so obsessed with Fox News and not the real news, that he neglects to check the facts. And this is probably not the first time.
Or did Keith purposely lie just to get another daily cheep shoot at Fox?
I may not be Fox News channel biggest fan but if you going to criticize them do it honestly and don't spend most of show doing it.

This is way I can't consider Keith a real news man and I'm still disappointed MSNBC put him on at the 8pm slot.

Tell the truth?!? What the hell is this 'truth' you speak of. BUSH MUST RESIGN

    Oh boy.

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/mark-finkelstein/2008/01/09/carville-obama-hit-dog

    http://newsbusters.org/static/2008/01/2008-01-09CNNLK.wmv

James Carville, who acknowledged he was serving as an unpaid consultant to the Clinton campaign, used the metaphor on tonight's Larry King.

"This is way I can't consider Keith a real news man and I'm still disappointed MSNBC put him on at the 8pm slot."

How about having him co-anchor the debate coverage and the elections?

Those are hard news events. He has no business - given his record of bias and partisanship - to be covering people he says he loathes.

    Now that's irresponsible news decisions.

Is Mike still going to contend that Keith does not lie?
If Keith is going to lie about something so meaningless? How can he be trusted to report anything else truthfully?

Is Mike still going to contend that Keith does not lie?

LARRY KING: What is your role, Jim? Are you involved in this campaign?

JAMES CARVILLE: I am friendly with the campaign. I give them advice, like today, I'd be glad to share the advice I gave. I said look, Senator Obama is coming after y'all, he was bragging today he comes from the rough and tumble of Chicago politics. And I said: "be ready, he put you on notice. This hope stuff, forget about that, he's coming after it. I understand he's been hit. And he's like any politician that's been hit, you know, it's a hit dog that barks, and we're going to see a lot of barking from Senator Obama."

I lifted this from newsbusters. Cracked me up! Non paid consultant, LOL! Second part is just funny.....

    January 9, 2008 - 22:32 ET by zhombre

The return of Carville, the Clinton camp assassin. Nonpaid consultant, my butt. He and that ferret Begala are probably the nastiest political hitmen since Joe McCarthy employed Cohn & Schine back in the Fifties. And the Cajun looks like one of the desert mutants from The Hills Have Eyes movies.

Funny, I thought Carville looked more like a shaved rat :D

Don't listen to him, Dollar...I was groovin' on the music.

    Thats another mistake by MSNBC

What do you expect from a paranoid leftist with a cable "news" show?

Let's hear the Olbermann trolls try to convince us that Olby is just stupid and not a liar. It will be amusing.

So the trolls go for the "Hey, look ! a butterfly!" response.

    Lame.

Let's be fair. He may not have known Fox had reported it. His crack staff just wasn't watching closely enough.

So just change that last title to read:

    Keith Oblermann...IDIOT!

Worst Person in the world? How bout biggest A=hole on TV! What a loser you are Keith!

    Nice catch guys.

How does Keith sleep at night?

    _______________

    On his left side. ;)

If Odormannn relies on Arianna and Counterpunch to glean his message, does that make him a Cockburned Huffer?
    Just askin'.

More irrefutable evidence that proves what we've already known for years: Olby lies. Thanks, J$.

What the time line on that? Did K.O. do the story and then Fox corrected itself? I couldn't tell with all the editing. Regardless, they both make mistakes. Unfortunately Fox makes excessive amount of them which is problematic.

The only defenders on this thread so far.....

"If lying was not allowed on Faux noise they would have a 24 hour test pattern."

Good....you stick with that...it really excuses what Olbermann did.....

Look closely....references to "polls closing at 8PM" allows one to assume these comments were on 1/8/07....during the primary and the time is printed clearly in the upper left hand corner....2:05PM EST....

Get over it guys....Keith Olbermann LIED. I don't care if his "researchers" missed the FOX information.....journalists are obliged to insure their statements are based on facts and this one was pretty cut and dry.....FOX did report Begala denying the sourced report and even used the words, "ON THE RECORD!"

Please do not even try to excuse what Olbermann did to fan the flames of partisan stupidity as he poses as a journalist....saying Fox News gets it wrong cannot logically explain an outright lie by Olbermann....

Ah yes, the examples continue to pile up on how stupid, silly, unethical, partisan and awkward Keith Olbermann has become.

    Thanks J$....great catch!

    I mean Phallu-Cee!

"Ah yes, the examples continue to pile up on how stupid, silly, unethical, partisan and awkward Keith Olbermann has become."

Here is a clue to get you started, "The left..."

    Preach on, Pastor!

No man, that was perfect 'cheesy horror flick'...Joan C.enters the room, puts back of hand to forehead in awkward-jerking motion & prepares to project the cut-loose-n0-holds-barred schreek! as an irregular-shaped DarkShadow moves down the hall leading to the Dr.'s study.
    Bwahahahaha...hahaha...Bwa hahahahahaha!

We are almost at the Obey-wan's scream moment.

Oh don't worry, wannawipe...I have no ax to grind today with the lovely left.....My posts so far are "on thread" in respect to J$....plus this example of Olbermann's partisanship driven incompetence is good enough for the educated reader to once again see how this ilk operates.

No wannawipe, no sermons planned for today...check back tomorrow....

This is OLD news. I already read all about on Media Matters for America which regularly tracks this type of thing and provides written transcripts and video.

    Oh wait.

    That's right.

Media Matters did not report this.

    Ummm...

    Never mind.

Posted by: Robert Cox at January 10, 2008 10:20 AM

Robert or Johnny$, could Fox News or Major Garret sue Keith Olbermann and MSDNC for defamation? I know there might be problems showing damages since Keith has no ratings.

    > What the time line on that? Did K.O. do the story and then Fox corrected itself?

That would be a pretty neat trick, since we put up the video within minutes of Olby making the statement Wed nite, and you can see a 2:05 PM timestamp on one of the Fox reports that included the denial. The Fox clips, as the timestamps and bottom scroll make clear, were all from Tuesday. Olby's lie was Wednesday night.

Someone get Olby a bigger pill organizer

Keith obsession with Bill and FoxNews
Get a resounding chorus of boos
    From those with a brain
    Krazy Keith is insane
    Nightly Kountdown to NBC Ruse

So the Olby fan's defense is "It's not a lie, he just had no idea what he was talking about because he and his staff did no research on the story in the 6 hours prior to airing it?"

I made this same point in the Rosie thread months ago (the one where KO changed the word "are" to "is" to defend her): is shoddy, inaccurate reporting really a defense to lying?

KO didn't lie....he's just incompetent. I like it.

The Begala e-mail thread, which I do not believe Garrett has disputed, doesn't exactly put Garrett in a good light, either. He can argue he was just following his sources, but he has some obligation to find reliable sources (great name for a television show, huh?).
    Posted by: A N O N Y M O U S at January 10, 2008 11:45 AM

Actually Carvel admitted he is working voluntarily for the Clinton camp. I don't know if Begala has admitted it yet, but I would say if Garrett's source got Carvel right, he/she is probably telling the truth about Begala as well and is a good source.

Carville has admitted that for months, The, but by all means, please assign the basest of motives to every American who does not hate anyone you hate.

    Posted by: A N O N Y M O U S at January 10, 2008 12:29 PM

I don't hate Begala. I just don't think Begala would freely admit he was working inside the Clinton camp if he felt the information would harm her campaign.

I don't hate Begala. I just don't think Begala would freely admit he was working inside the Clinton camp if he felt the information would harm her campaign.

    ###
Also, Begala works for CNN and working for a campaign while being with CNN makes his position all the more suspect....No, he has both a personal and political agenda to deny connections with the Hillary for Prez campaign and can deny it all he wants....plausible deniability is these pundits bread and butter....is how the Clintons always worked when scandal hit and I have no reason to doubt Garrett and his sources ESPECIALLY SINCE HE WAS UPFRONT IN SAYING BEGALA HAD DENIED THE ALLEGATION!.....again that is the whole point in regards to the HuffPo hit piece and Olbermann's big mistake....FOX News did say Begala denied it and let the viewer decide who was credible....That's the way it is supposed to work.

What's kind of funny about all this is that, just minutes after Olbermann's lie, Dan Abrams came on and did a bit on this. He showed clip after clip of Garrett specifically noting the denials, more clips than we had in our video. And this was all stuff that, minutes earlier, Olby said Fox never reported. LOL!

My 16 year old son watches Olbie every night. And, not because he likes what he has to say - he's amused by what he has to say because he can easily debunk nearly every claim that Olbie makes. He also watches South Park every night. He wrote a paper last year for his Freshman Humanities class on how political jokes and references made in several South Park episodes were much more credible than news stories reported by Olbie. He got an "A".

Stacy, is it possible to send us a copy of that paper? Preferably with the "A" marked on it?

That's why K.O. is the winner of the 2007 Fiskie by an enormous margin.

I bet that is an interesting paper.

Anony, to each his own. I would guess, w/out reading his paper, he has a very bright future. He may be smart enough to do all the things you claim are important while getting A's in school. Brings back memories of my high school rodeo days. :)

Minus the smokes and Olbermahn, though. We chose Copenhagen, much more manly.

Stacy, I would very much like to read your son's paper also.

It's good to see young people who have a passion and drive so early on.

    Tell him Congrats from me.

Olbermannwatch is a lying liars telling lies. The Fox reporter said James Carville & Paul Begala where advisers AND DID NOT CONFIRM IT! Olby reported it correctly. The idiot FOX NOISE reporter LATER made half a$$ corrections after Carville & Begala contacted Fox; BUT IDIOT FOX REPORTER said he "STILL TRUSTED HIS sources". He back peddled harder later, but still pretended his report was correct when it WAS WRONG. Keith Olbermann ROCKS you SUCK!

Hmm. That means Olbermann lied on Wednesday night when he said Fox never reported the denials, doesn't it? Because those denials were all over the Fox air on TUESDAY, a day earlier. Thanks greg for agreeing with us that Olbermann is a liar.

    greg. Source, please.

Oh, and greg, I want to congratulate you for the intelligence, sophistication, and intellectualism of your comment.

    nice story Stacey

And for anybody to criticize your son for getting good grades and his life style is uncalled for.
Especially since the topic is Olbermann lies.
News people make these mistakes all the time and that's ok.
But when it's Keith talking about Fox, he has to be taken to task.
Because Fox channel is not a news story.

joe, your rather brazen hypocrisy is noted. Fox News is not a news channel because they air opinions that make you feel uncomfortable, while MSNBC is the new channel for you because all of their mistakes in attacking Fox do not make you feel uncomfortable.

Now we know what you want in a news channel, one that is careful not to disturb your delusions.

SPQR since I'm the only joe here I think you are taking about me? I suggest you read my post again and again until you understand how to read and understand my post.

I said Fox news channel is not news.
Reporting the news and being the news are two different things.
Fox news is not the news they reported it, just like CNN and MSNBC.
Keith wrongfully tires to make Fox a news story on a nightly basis, which is wrong.
In all my post here, and go back and check them, I have attack MSNBC for having Keith on.
So I don't know where you get I hate Fox news and love MSNBC from any of my post.

"brazen hypocrisy" and "delusions"? coming from somebody who doesn't read my post carefully is rather dumb and cowardly words.
Here I am defending a 16 year old boy and I get this? Geez, crazy man.

Joe, I agree with you totally.

However, I did have to go back and carefully reread your comment b/c I at first took a mixed message from it.

Upon rereading it I understood your point, that the network Fox News is not news.

Only our loons will jump feet first on a pleasant comment about a young man with such viciousness.

As for me, not a horse man. I was a boarding school guy, and we all had 3 months of riding (English style) and 1 month of polo. Pretty gruelng for me. I was much more into rugby and golf.

Wow! What a surprise from anonymous! Polo, rugby and golf. Now there's a man who certainly knows what it's like to live in the hood.

Racism indeed! Did ya all go back to ya crib and put on a little JB after cracking open a few Old Englishes with your bros after a grueling day playing polo? That's right, I had to read it twice, and there it was: polo and golf in the same sentence. Hysterical!

My Allah, I have never laughed so hard at what you'd call a "man's upbringing!"

Your country hasn't a chance. I hung out with girls who were tougher than you, and even they would have the sense not to even mention that they knew about those faggot sports, none-the-less say that they actually participated in them!

Anonymous, I think I underestimated you as you could very well be the biggest wimp I have ever come heard.

Polo, rugby and golf! You're too much or maybe I'm the fool as you could very well be pulling all our legs, as you come on like a Nicholson movie complete with the sarcasm. Is that it? It's all a joke right, and you just want to get a reaction?

"You fooled 'em chief! You fooled them all!"

    Akuba! Ayeee!!!!

Wow! If thats the best you've got on KO You lot are a truely sad sad bunch of right wing lemmings

What makes you think this is the best we've got? Are you incapable of reading past a single page. Check out Olbermann's Top Ten Lies of 2006, Olbermann Top Ten Lies of 2007. THEN you'll have something closer to the best we've got. I'm sure you'll run right off to check those posts, won't you? Unless of course you're an Olbyloon lemming.

    Dear Keith and MSNBC,

There was a time when I couldn't wait
to turn you on when I came home from working.

I was so anxious to hear what Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann had to say. I recorded each segment on my Tivo in the event I missed something.

There was a time I felt you were the only network on TV who might give me the straight scoop.

Sadly, I now feel very betrayed by you!

You are no different than Feaux News. You have obviously been bought and paid for by the giant corporations and your agenda is to tell me and everyone else who to vote for by constantly referring to only two democratic candidates and barely ever mentioning the other, most qualified candidate, John Edwards.

You tell me that the only two candidates to vote for are Clinton and Obama. You tell me that Edwards has no chance. You show scene after scene of Clinton and Obama and it is a rare event if you show even a glimpse of Edwards.

You are biased! And it is flagrantly obvious!

I am frustrated by your attempts to fix this election with your unfair reporting.

There has to be a way to fight you! There has to be a way to let the American public, most of whom watch you and other networks nightly, know the truth about you and what you are doing!

MSNBC, I no longer trust you!

I no longer can depend on you to tell me the truth.

I am going to ask John Edwards to come out and accuse you and other networks of ignoring him.

I am going to ask John Edwards to begin every speech he makes with the accusation that the media is attempting to fix this race.

    Goodbye MSNBC!

I will NOT be watching you until you change your ways and begin to report fairly again.

Keith, when you used to be my favorite news anchor I now believe you to be the 'Worst Person in the World'!!!!!

    Sincerely,

    An ex-MSNBC fan.

    Jazzietta, you've been wronged, indeed.

Anybody know where Jazzietta could find a personal injury attorney who could file a suit?...

Johnny - Coco Von Loco's investigative skills are no better than Olbermann's. Neither would think to look past a headline or opening sentence as in looking for Olbermann's Top Ten Lies of 2006 and Olbermann Top Ten Lies of 2007 before spouting off some inane comment? It's easier to just unleash the attack dogs.

Cecelia, a little patience and compassion please. I, too, used to think KO told the truth and it was disillusioning when I realized how he could spin a story or just outright lie. Let Jazietta get her footing so she can join the former believers in bashing him. Just be glad she saw the light. The shelf life of an Olbermann is short but it may take a while to recover from loondom. Let it out, Jazzietta.

Btw, it's not like she can say this anywhere else. We know he reads this site so it's the most direct route to him since he doesn't allow negative comments at his own site and he can't be trusted with email.

Pretty funny - a guy who is almost 50 years old and he has no self-discipline to not tell a detractor to f-- his mother and he can't refrain from picking up women thru email. OK, it's sad rather than funny.

    ooops, missed a word

The shelf life of an Olbermann is short FAN is very short

    OK, one last time

It expired on at least ten people, by the time you got that right... :D

Did anyone check out Jazziette's site. Wow. Olbermann must be totally pissed that he missed out on that.

Luckily Keith is strong with good ratings who won't be soon swift boated like was done to Donahue.

I'd love to see your outrage to his special comments about our dear leader, Vader and Turd Blossom

New York Times Caught In Another Lie

In the more than six years since 9/11, the Times has never run a feature story half as long on any of the hundreds of heroes who've served our country - those who've won medals of honor, distinguished service crosses, Navy crosses, silver stars or bronze stars with a V device (for valor).

But the Times put a major investigative effort into the "sensational" story that 121 returning vets had committed capital offenses (of course, 20 percent of the cases cited involved manslaughter charges stemming from drunken driving, not first- or second-degree murder . . . ).

Well, a quick statistics check let the air out of the Times' bid to make us dread the veteran down the block - who the Times implies has a machine gun under his bathrobe when he steps out front to fetch the morning paper. In fact, the capital-crimes rate ballyhooed by the Gray Lady demonstrates that our returning troops are far less likely to commit such an offense.

Would you be happy if I used the word "fabrication?" That's being nice. Would you consider it to be "responsible journalism?" I would hope not. Because it's anything, but, that.

Since you're ok with "incomplete" stories you must be ok with this, too.
