"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith Olbermann
Topics/Guests:
A new week means a new opening spiel, barked by none other than The Daily Kos's very own Keith Olbermann: Democrats disintegrate over charges of racism! Bushed! Britney! Another O'Reilly Attack! It's blue Monday at Olbermann Watch.
#5: Olby chides Dems for attacking each other rather than Republicans. Nevada caucuses coming up Saturday. Uh oh, Oralmann corrects Hillary. The Pundit for All Occasions yammered and was Great Thanksed. Olbermoronn declared all this bickering is "potentially suicidal" (oooh, can't have that!) and wondered why Clinton is allowing her surrogates to speak as they do of Obama. Robinson blathered.
#4: Ooh a Democratic debate tomorrow. Monkeymann gave zero coverage to the last GOP debate, but this one he covers before it even takes place! Chuck Todd flacked for the upcoming spectacular. Olby grudgingly allowed a grand total of one question about tomorrow's GOP primary, based on something from "our friends at the Daily Kos". Now we know what Ross Perot meant by that "giant sucking sound". Oh, and by the way, Edward R Olbermann did not mention that he raises money for Daily Kos, or that he writes for them as well. OlbyPlanet ethics.
After a Pultizer-worthy Oddball that had The Laughing Stagehand and friends working overtime, plus a "Loofah!" [Ding!], #3: "The nation is Bushed". Hopeless-gate! Gitmo-gate! Iran-gate! #2: Britney Spears, Paris Hilton.
#1: Time to feed the great Olbsession of them all; that means it's time for O'Reilly attack #401. A former NBC reporter (John Hockenberry, whose name wasn't mentioned) served up "vague" and "sad" charges about NBC dealing with the Bin Laden family. O'Reilly reported on this (how dare he?!?); Keith called Bill's producer a "schmuck" and said he would clear that up. He did so by again calling Hockenberry's comments "sad" and suggesting he didn't know what he was talking about.
Oralmann replayed an old comedy bit which meant we got all the favorite OlbyPlanet keywords: Mackris! [Ding!] Loofah! [Ding!] Loofah! [Ding!] Loofah! [Ding!] Loofah! [Ding!] So we'll use some of our favorite Bear keywords: Karmabites! Merlot! Restraining order! Then, in a magnificent display of nonselfawareness, Edward R Olbermann insisted that Bill "lies" (ever seen our top ten list, Bear?) and violates "journalistic ethics"! Man, we could never make up anything this ironically clueless.
In the Media Matters Minute, "right wing lunatic fringer Jonathan Golberg" (Blue Blog Source: Crooks & Liars), but "worst" was the US military, because the Iran speedboat incident was really just a "prank" (Blue Blog Source: Democrats.com)--based on "online reporting" our troops were "trying to fake another Gulf of Tonkin incident". It doesn't seem possible that Bear could get any more unhinged, but signing up with Kos seems to have busted his last brain cell. On Friday night, the infamous, deplorable one found himself finishing in fourth place: behind Mr Bill, behind Nancy Grace, and even behind CNN's hit-and-run killer! Tonight's MisterMeter reading: 4 [GUARDED]
Keith Olbermahn is mentally ill
Weird, psychotic obsession with Bill
Not simply a prick
Psychologically sick
His shrink should prescribe another pill
I don't know how J$ can stand to watch this idiot every night. Keith also claimed that Bill wants to pretend that the Mackris thing never happened (I guess he expects him to bring it up every so often). Well, that's not it, Keith. It's YOU that wants to pretend that it JUST HAPPENED so that you can justify talking about it ad nauseam.
Also, anyone notice the self-aggrandizing in how he packaged his Bill O'Reilly obsession tonight? He's not obsessed at all-- He's just standing up to a liar and bully!
Here's how you repel Olbermann--not that he'd ever confront someone-he's too much of a chicken-shit for that but just mention: just in case hell freezes over tomorrow and he decides to become a real journalist:
KarmaBites
Viagra
Bill O'lielly],
Olbermann is a supporter of the Iranian regime. So you support a Seditionist?
J$ I didn't notice it in your summary, but I am assuming that since KO brought up BillO's "lies" that, (in effort to not appear hypocritical; but to be the "un-biased" journalist that he claims to be) he apologized to FNS, Major Garrett (sp?) and his audience for his inaccurate reporting last week?
For Olbermann to say Hockenberry doesn't know what he's talking about is laughable. Hockenberry is a quality journalist who wouldn't stoop to writing for Daily Kos, like Mr. Olbermann.
Fourth place in the ratings? Keep showing up Keith. Let's see how worse your ratings get.
When NBC/MSNBC comes to their senses and fires Olbermann, how much do you want to bet he cites the very same thing that Hockenberry is saying as "proof" of how evil they all were and how only he was right?
> he apologized to FNS, Major Garrett (sp?) and his audience for his inaccurate reporting last week?
Um, no, for some reason he didn't get around to that.
A N O N Y M O U S,
They're not Pro-Iran like your hero Olbermann.
Keith supports Iran more than he supports America.
I am currently reading Jonah Golberg's "Liberal Fascism". The left wing hate site really has no true criticism of the book other than Golberg doesn't define Fascism. His point is that no one has come up with a clear definition of fascism other than it is something that is bad and that the left uses as buzz word. The left wing hate site then finds it ludicrous that he would compare Hitlery Clintons proposals in her screed "It takes a Village" to Mussalini. Mussolini was a hero to the left until he hooked up with Hitler. Of course this is Olbermann criticizing a book without reading it which is considered a sin to Mike. I am surprised Olbermann didn't light a fire and burn the book. I guess that segment will start if Hitlery Clinton gets elected.
Major Garrets audience dwarfs the orange faced hacks audience and Garret doesn't even have his own show. Pretty sad isn't it, if you're an Olbyloon.

I wonder if Olbermann minds "Hillary's surrogates" [Media Matters] suddenly coming down so hard on Chris Matthews...

Are you kidding?
Keith Olbermann has gone from describing himself as "not political", to doing a "Democratic blog with one goal in mind: electoral victory"...
We're just getting started... :D
Amazing. Its been around 3 months since my last visit, and nothing has changed.
Same crybaby crap about the evil liberal on TV.
Are any of you Fasces News viewers aware of the Hallibirton Gang Rape case that is beiong ignored by the media? It is an iconic narative of modern mercantilism/fascism as fostered by the Bush administration through its privatized paramilitary organs:
"What does one say to a young woman gang raped by men paid by us to work for a company from which our vice president profits, men who have yet to be charged with any crime, a company yet to make amends in any way, and a presidential administration effectively granted immunity by our representatives in Congress?
Jones was hired at age 19 to work for Halliburton in Houston, Texas, and the next year was sent to Iraq to work for Halliburton. She says that she was drugged and raped by numerous coworkers in Baghdad, and was then confined by Halliburton armed guards to a shipping container, denied food, water, or medical help.
Jones used a borrowed cell phone to contact her father, who in turn contacted Representative Ted Poe (R, TX) who contacted the State Department, which freed Jones from Halliburton's shipping container. U.S. Army doctors performed an examination that discovered evidence of vaginal and anal rape, but the sexual assault kit disappeared after being turned over to Halliburton and was later recovered missing some pieces of evidence, including doctor's notes and photographs of Jones' bruises."
http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/node/30090
I will sit back and wait for you mind-slaves to attack the virtue and integrity of this young woman in defense of your fetish/president's highly-paid goon squads.
GE manufactures products of war (even sells them to Iran)... it's a fact. General Electric is a War Profiteer.
"You really do find itself incumbent on you to take your own network to the same degree of task... (or) it doesn't say much for (your) manhood" -Keith Olbermann 11/16/06
Hallibirton? You know, if you're gong to cite a story and make accusations you might want to use correct spelling next time.

Impressive response. I hit the "i" instead of the "u" and you use that typo to avoid the entire issue of brutal gang rape, forced sodomy, and life-threatening kidnapping/ imprisonment. Do you truly have nothing to say in regard to the ordeal experienced by this young woman? - or about the clearly partisan cover-up and protectionism being conducted on behalf of HallibUrton?
...or are you truly just a vile piece of partisan crap.
Nice try at hijacking yet another thread. Here let me join in the fun. Have this woman's claims been proven as fact? Yes? No? Or do you just salivate at the word Halliburton, no matter what the charge, unrpoven or not?

Posted by: Brandon at January 15, 2008 10:39 AM
Proven as "fact"? To the degree that:
- her father recieved her cell-phone call from her shipping-crate detention cell.
- a State Dept official saw to her release from the crate.
- Army doctors report having observed signs of vaginal and rectal penetration and bruising (the rape kit was, for some God-forsaken reason, left with Halliburton security personnel, and when it was returned the photos and doctors' notes were missing).
- and that's my primary point; how can we know if her claims are "fact", since inconcievable steps appear to have been taken to ensure that Halliburton was able to destroy evidence. Having worked around Halliburton field personnel a great deal, I have no problem believing these allegations.
..but more importantly, Brandon, do you really want your own question answered? Are you willing to ask such questions yourself where they might matter? - or are you merely protecting the mercantilist apparatus of your political leaders by hiding the issue?
What an unmitigated load of crap this site is. Give it up.

Sorry to intrude on your pathetic little hatesite with discussions relevant to the crimes and abuses promulgated and protected by your political leaders, Cecelia.
You've got a daughter who spent time overseas, don't you? No pangs of sympathy or horror at what she might have, but for good fortune, been subjected to?
"Those of us on the left are weary of having to carry the entire load on the long trail to accountability."
ENTIRE LOAD? Sorry Anon your overstating the democrats saintly resume... by a long shot.

Ah yes, the virtue market is cornered by "the left."
Let alone that there is an active Justice Department investigation AND Ms. Jones has a lodged a federal suit against the company....
Oh no, the left is doing everything here to bring about justice and closure...no one else....no, that Representative from Texas was also not really a Republican and continues to push for answers.....
The pious, selfrightous left marhes on here at OW.....King Lucy (SLOB) and his court jester, Mr. blank-FLUCKER (cue OLD SPICE jingle) will save the world!

Since you're not just demanding a response, but one that I've endeavored to make meet your approval, what sort of reply would you like?
A dramatic reading? Interpretive dance?
Cec, I think SLOB is expecting a simple tear-filled mea culpa for all the far right activities you have been associated with....a pamphlet would be a nice touch.....
Interpretive dance would be an overstatement....keep it drab now.....
Wow, a Keith Olbermann lover reccommends his book:
Books and DVDs to tide you over

OK great, we managed to get off the topic of KO and onto the evil Haliburton.
Question tho, is the left just finding out about this story? Or were you holding onto it for a particularly bad day for KO and the rest of your side?
The story is two years old, more or less. (The original arbitration complaint was filed in Feb 2006.)
The EEOC's Letter of Detirmination has already credited the claim of sexual assault. They are now attempting to settle on arbitration, held up partly by the ridiculous over-filing by Ms. Jones' attorney.
Also, there appears to be some discrepency as to her calling her father from the shipping container. Her own statement, posted on her own website stated "Immediately following her physical examination, she was placed in a trailer with a bed, a shower, and a sink, but without a television, and was refused phone calls to her family despite repeated requests, which amounted to a false imprisonment;"...."refused phone calls to her family."
There are no claims in her legal filing that the rape kit was turned over to KBR. That claim was made on her website, and subsequently removed.
Ms. Jones story has, shall we say, "evolved" since her initial filing, changing from sexual assault by one person to a brutal gang rape, as well as many other details that have changed as the case progresses.
It is more than likely that something did happen to this girl in Iraq. If it did, all those involved should immediately be jailed for their crimes and face justice in the courts.
It is also just as likely that the left will (is) use this story to slander Haliburton, KBR, Bush, Cheney, the Republican party, and all Olbermann critics.
But again, SLOB, this isn't news...Google the story and you'll find the right has been on it for over a month.
Posted by: Sir Loin of Beef at January 15, 2008 8:11 AM
You mean the one who change her story 3 times already? I think we covered this with Duke.
With nothing but good news form Iraq, slob is now having to go back 2 yrs to demean our troops. His desperation is front and center.
OW: Look! Keith lied again!
Olby Supporter: Look! Over there! Someone else did something bad!

Since when are uppity Halliburton hirelings "our troops"?
"It is more than likely that something did happen to this girl in Iraq. If it did, all those involved should immediately be jailed for their crimes and face justice in the courts."
I agree, Scott. However, you just got through scolding me for bringing up a two-year old story - a story of a crime for which no accountability has been levied. "Immediately" is long since under the bridge.
"It is also just as likely that the left will (is) use this story to slander Haliburton, KBR, Bush, Cheney, the Republican party, and all Olbermann critics."
Olbermann critics, I hate to tell you, are entirely irrelevant as anything other than easy marks for trolls such as myself.
As for Halliburton, KBR, Cheney, Bush , and the GOP; I would direct you to your own post above, in which you call for accountability and swift justice in Ms. Jones' case. To me, that includes the rapists, the kidnappers, the obfuscators, and any other accomplices after the fact.
Its strange to me that you can on the one hand call for justice, while on the other denounce similar calls from others as "slander". Partisan blinders, anyone?
Anonymous writes: "Does Major Garrett have an audience? Outside of Mobile? If he does, that certainly explains the large number of ill-informed people in our nation."
And yet, we lack an explanation for all the ignorant leftists in our nation, since the most logical -- that they watch Keith Olbermann -- is disproved by his low ratings.
"Olbermann critics, I hate to tell you, are entirely irrelevant as anything other than easy marks for trolls such as myself."

Then get to work SLOB. The highlights of Olbermann critic Johnny Dollar have been posted in the form of "Olbermann's Top Ten Lies of 2007". Since you regard such work of Olbermann critics as an "easy mark", you should be able to report back to us forthwith with a complete and on point rebuttal. Bets anyone?

Consistent about being against the war.
Consistent about ending the war.
Consistent about cutting off funds.
Consistent about bringing Bush and Cheney up on impeachment charges for misleadng the public?
Consistent about bringing home troops, PRONTO!
Now, how many loons did I hear from that said the 06' election was about a REFERENDUM on the war?
And NBC and the Democratic party does not want Kucinch at the debate?
HOW ODD?
I'm sure The great Edward R. Olbermann is getting to the bottom of this for tonights show.
Oh wait! The laziest jackass on cable for his O'Reilly attack ran an old tape last night.
I wonder how many single digits that watch his show thought that was new?

Son, being fat, dumb and STUPID is no way to go through life.
Excuse me that was....
"Fat, Drunk & Stupid......"
KO's comments on "Liberal Fascism" was so stupid as to be unbelievable. One of his points was to mention the fascist organization that Mussolini founded in 1919. When he mentioned that, I guess he was thinking that Goldberg didn't put it in his book.
But I'm reading that book, and sure enough, that factoid is in there, as well as the "blackshirts" that KO mentioned (again, thinking that Goldberg omitted that).
KO is either an idiot or he needs a better fact-checker.
Regardless, his idiotic attack on Goldberg is another example that he's basically a left-wing O'Reilly. Those two deserve each other.
Anyone check the stock market lately?

The "troll" whining is a pretty strong theme here lately on many threads. Its a sure sign that the bleeding-heart fascists are in despair from mounting their hopeless, shifting straw-man arguments.
"The president, who once said he'd "jawbone" Saudi leaders into lowering prices, told Moran what he intended to say to King Abdullah on the topic in their meeting:
"I will say to him that, 'If it's possible, your majesty, consider what high prices is doing to one of your largest customers,'" Bush said.
...(please note the characteristic gramitical error)...
"In other words, the worst thing that can happen to an oil-producing nation is that the price of oil causes the economy to slow down, because that will inevitably lead to fewer purchases [of oil]."
Here is your fetish/president expressing his strong commitment to weaning America off of fossil fuels. Remember; this is him addressing America, not the Saudis.
This oil-man will not change course until every drop of oil in the earth is burnt up and we are occupying every oil-producer in the world.

This dude couldn;t get any tail in college so he became a school nerd. It's all born out of penis envy. His first piece of ass was with a sperm spitoon that most adult males would not even give a second glance. This all evolved into his hatred of males. Hell, he may be a lesbian. Men run this country. Next day, same thing.
We know why you are you SLOB.
The left mocks our commitment to anyone but hillary, but they continue to run against a president who isn't even on the ballot.
Hillary is cancerous and obama has no experience... so why are the viable candidates? Because they are democrats? Pulease. Boast now, beacuase in a general election the light will be too bright on your frontrunners. Obama has no policy, just rhetoric.... and Hillary has disapproval ratings that can macth Bush's- who isn't even running.
As I am not commttied to any republican now, I surely can see that the general election would defintiely not be a cake walk for the dems. Your debates consist of fluff questions, war bashing and anti-bush rallies. Wait till the policy is front and center. Like imigration and taxes, two item that people care about.... more than the war.

So to Phony Laura Nugent, a brutal gang-rape/kidnapping and the paternal protection of its perpetrators by corrupt government officials represents just a couple notches short of heavenly "perfection". According to this high-minded Christian paladin only God can be expected to abstain from behavior of this sort.
It doesn't matter who the Dems prop-up as their candidate... they will lose. That's what they do best. Folks will be coming out of the woodwork to vote AGAINST Billary. America is not ready for a drug-dealing black President yet. And the ambulance-chasing, fetus-channeling Edwards? What a hoot.
And merkle....the economically depressed Michigan primary showed the left's establishment candidate, HRC, not even get a majority of the votes to "uncommitted."
To say only the republican nomination is up in the air and a difficult, messy affair is to ignore reality. The democrats have a self-serving corporation willing to do anything to get elected....including using racial wedge issues to defeat the outsider.
The outsider is also with his deficiencies, especially his lack of experience. However, he does seem to inspire people, and is likable and that is something important for a national leader.
Oh my. The republican side has great experience in their top tier candidates and most of the candidates are likable, and electable. We'll see how the McCain surge and its negative reaction works out, but I believe there is a healthy thing going on in the republican primary season while the democrats are fighting a selfish force (Clinton Co.) that wishes to maintain its own power at the expense of inspiration and better leadership.

Far out. I actually agree with most of what Phari-cee says here!
..except the part about the "likability" of GOP candidates. Its irrelevant or misleading to talk about what a radical right cult of xenophobes, racists, and sadists finds "likable".
Ah- Anon and your fellow dems hope to inherit a recession so they can show an economic policy that will spur growth. I shudder to see that day.
Perhaps they will repeal the tax cuts and raise taxes as they have pushed for the last year. Any economics 101 plebe knows that this will only push the US into a slower growth scenario. Maybe the democrats can enforce the protectionistic tariffs and taxes they promised to enact, surely forcing international community to do the same and drying up our export markets. Or maybe bringing the soldiers back asap will cause lower gas prices, despite every expert saying it would do the exact opposite.
Democrats promise idiocy, and they may deliver it some day.
Run on the economy stupid.

The GOP are the racists? Have you heard about the wedge issue dividing up the DNC? Who do you think those undecided voters against Hillary were in Michigan? Identity politics. No issues and no substance.
SLOB- Our candidates Racists?
Seems that Clinton has all those headlines lately.
JINX
Truth is anon- if the democrats DO win the whitehouse- they will moan and groan about hos Bush ruined the economy to such a degree that their policy can't recover it.
Its the same defense they are using now for their lame duck congress... they promise the moon, but fail to show leadership when given it.
I am well versed enough in economics and policy to know that recessions and growth are normal in a free market economy. To the degree that presidential policy only extends and contracts the periods for each.
But then you get people like Jerry, who think that economics is all about a presidency. Remember- the congress has the checkbook, which controls our economy far more than Bush... cue Cee's cut the fund diatribe.
The recession is inevitable, just when and how are harsh it will be is debatable. And Clinton's policy enacted now- would do little to turn it around. Two years from now they might work, after a market correction. Corrections last between 7 and ten years- up and down- in the US. We have just started the downturn.
