"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith Olbermann
Topics/Guests:
He's back: tanned (even if it's from a can), rested, and ready. So went the opening spiel: Obama endorsed! Hillary wants to change primary rules! Bill Jefferson Clinton invoked Jesse Jackson! SotU! Will Rudy drop out? Stock Market is Down! (Alert: Olbermann Lie, it's way up since 2001.) It's blue Monday at Olbermann Watch, the blog so powerful and influential it is read by Keith Olbermann himself.
#5: Obama as the new JFK. Clips of Ted Kennedy and Barack. Toni Morrison endorses Obama. Clip of Hillary. Olbermann's Brain chortled and insisted BJ Clinton had no racial intent when comparing Obama to Jesse Jackson. And chickens have lips. Next up: Lefty Alter on how the Clinton's managed to "lose the Kennedys". Olby wondered if they have to put BJ Clinton "in the shed". Lefty said he'll "tone it down". Oralmann touched on a smear email about Obama, neatly attributing it to "government workers", the "military", "right-wing web sites", and, of course, Republicans. Left completely out of his report were the Hillary Clinton staffers who were fired for spreading it. After all, this is OlbyPlanet.
#4: Florida. Hillary trying to change the rules and grab their delegates. Chuck Todd detailed the machinations over the Sunshine State. Olby suggested this is "the ends justifies the means", and Kos Kidz all over the Olbersphere swooned. Is Rudy looking to bow out? It's his "swan song", said Toddy. So far not a "great thanks" to be heard.
After a reference to Orwell [Ding!] and a "right wing lunatic fringer" [Ding!], #3: the "true" State of the Union. FISA! Terror attacks? Up! (Unmentioned: none in the US). Terrorists? Roaming free! (Huh? We thought all this terrorism business was just scare stuff from those terrorists Republicans.) The correspondent with the tonsorially-enhanced hair did a "they say, but they say" analysis to distance himself from Monkeymann's partisan spew. No great thanks.
After a Rove reference [Ding!]#2: The Media Matters Minute. Choate school and Karl Rove [Ding!] (Blue Blog Source: Huff 'n' Puff), Glenn Beck (Blue Blog Source: nearly verbatim lift from Hillary Clinton's Media Matters ), and "worst" Mary Katherine Ham (Blue Blog Source: Crooks & Liars). Ooh, a Fox Noise [Ding!] too.
#1: Scintillating repartee in tonight's Democrats interviewing Democrats segment (Olby with The Drooler). The two of them batted their shared talking points back and forth: Bush wants to "tie the hands of the next President". Iraq is no success. Yikes! No sane person can take any more of this. Tonight's MisterMeter reading: 1 [LOW]
And that's The Hour of Spin for this, the 630th day since the declaration that "Karl Rove will be indicted".
Well, I percieved racism in Clinton's comments re: Obama/Jesse Jackson. Wasn't Bill supposed to be some kind of psychic politician?
Both of the Clintons' recent snarls with the media coincide with Kennedy's virtual adoption of Obama into the family compound to make one hopeful that America's recent affair with lineage-based politics is over.
I'm watching the SOTU.
What's with the fucking smile on Pelosi?
"Glenn Beck asserted: "[I]f [Sen.] Hillary Clinton [D-NY] wants to be consistent, I believe, affirmative action, she should give [Sen.] Barack Obama [D-IL] an additional 5 percentage points just for the years of oppression."
I must admit that this concept astounded me. We have affirmative action in much of our competitive endeavors so why should it not apply to political elections?
I don't endorse the concept but it is totally consistent with other aspects of affirmative action that I don't endorse either.

It is fitting that Olbermann regurgitates something about Bill Clinton from Crooks & Liars. Bill Clinton is a crook and a liar and Olbermann is just a liar.
SLOB, shall we call this our Britney segment?
That smile seems to have been implanted with the obvious face lift she had.

Two words . . . Jack Napier
"Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight? "
Bush's Free Trade crap sickens me. More Jobs to India and China. Except for the Colombia agreement, no more Free Trade!
He said wages are rising, he lied! Wages have stagnated thanks to globalization.
Keep in mind, I'm a Righty eho hates Olbermann!
Is "Fixed Noise" supposed to be funny?
That's why they pay Keith the big money?
Like his "Bathtub Head"
Keith must have ate lead
He thinks Katy's a Playboy Bunny
Olbermann makes fun of Mary K Ham for being to young? WTF? News flash Olbermann, your girl friend is yonger than MKH. Does this mean your girl friend is to young to do the news? We know she is too stupid to do the news.
I originally commented on the Glen Beck scthict as astounding.
But I do seem now to remember a woman named Lani (?) who was a judge or a law professor who advocated changing election law to weigh for affirmative action. This was maybe ten years back and I read about her ideas and/or saw her C-Span.
I don't agree with the concept in any venue but to be logically consistent if affirmative action is the right course than it should be applied universally.

George Bush has made the USA, China's bitch.
But it's so much more important to cry about Keith Olbermann.
You really couldn't make this shit up if you tried !

This is hilarious coming from one of the morons who voted for the Clinton crime family. The crime family who sold our missile technology to China so they can now hit us with Nukes and knock out our military satellites. By the way, who signed NAFTA? Run along. You and the Clinton Crime family are the reason China is a threat to this country.
Posted by: Why Don't I Think at January 28, 2008 11:46 PM
Lets see dumb ass. What is more dangerous? China having the ability to hit major US citys with nuclear war heads and knock out our satellites or China owning our debt?
Notice how the poster sometimes known as 'why' totally avoided the most important parts of Factors post? He can't refute facts.
"Please explain the Bush debt to China for us all!"
Posted by: Why Don't I Think at January 28, 2008 11:46 PM
So you don't even address the fact that Clinton sold missile technology to China? Simply make believe the statement was not made, and continue with your drivel? Clinton personally issued waivers to allow shipments of U.S. technology that greatly improved the accuracy and reliability of Communist China's missiles. And he did it despite the objections of the U.S. State Department, Defense Department, Justice Department, and intelligence agencies. Using your own verbage, "Please explain."
Keith Olbermann has called President Bush a Nazi, a terrorist, a tyrant, and a liar. He has said that President Bush isn't fit to be President and has demanded that he be impeached. And who does MSNBC choose to head it's State of the Union coverage? Keith Olbermann. Amazing.
Posted by: Why Don't I Think at January 29, 2008 12:09 AM
First this moron says China is a threat, now his says they are a figment of the rightwing imagination. Which is it?
Olbermann apparently wasn't too pleased to see the Kennedys endorse Obama. In his segment on Countdown, he showed the Clintons on a boat with Ted Kennedy and said that now the Clintons were in the water. "IN THE WATER!" when referring to Ted Kennedy! The orange one was not happy with today's developments...
Posted by: Ol'Girlmann at January 29, 2008 12:26 AM
Olbermann should have said that Kennedy drove the Clintons into the water while he was drunk and then left them for dead.
All I have to say after watching Olbermann on the post SOTU coverage is please put the child back in his crib. Please do not let him venture anywhere outside of his Countdown fantasy world.
Just a little tidbit from the left:
"Dems Give al Jazeera Prime Real Estate for State of Union"
In the scheme of things it's a fairly small thing except that it is like that picture that speaks a thousand words.

I didn't write about my coke habbit in a book in then brag about it to school children.
BOBO,
There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Bush has ever used cocaine.
But there are people who have stated that they have witnessed Governer Bill Clinton partake of the white powder.
Eat that, BOBO!
Well, Bill does have a nose like a vacuum cleaner.
Where did you stael that little tid bit form, why? Too emabarrassed to post a link? Think progress? Shocker.
Actually, RK, it was not Think Progress. It was from a site called Bush Jr.'s Skeleton Closet and they have links for one to "Click on the allegation of your choice".
I didn't scroll through it carefully but I don't think there was an "allegation choice" entitled See Pictures of GWB Pulling Wings Off HELPLESS Butterflies"
No doubt the proof has been destroyed by Blackwater and Halliburton working in a criminal conspirancy.
Grammie
Pelosi was smiling at an anchronism.
The analogies seem apropos to me.

What a mean, nasty old thing you are. Does it help you deal with your failed president and your faltering party? I feel sorry for you. It must be tough to know the rest of your life is going to be hate-filled and miserable.
I think I meant anachronism but who knows? Its very early.

If you recognize the Clintons as a
"crime family", which I think is an entirely reasonable perspective; why can't you admit that the Bushes are up to exactly the same business?
Bush last night was indeed a series of excerpts from previous SOTUs of a series of venerable unfulfilled promises and freaky pipedreams.
His "Clean energy" plan includes ...coal? "emissions-free nucular" power?
He takes credit for shrinking New Orleans to a quarter of its size?
"You and the Clinton Crime family are the reason China is a threat to this country."
I love how righties defend their fetish/president.
In a situation like the growing alarm regarding China, they think it is helpful to Bush to present him as a totally inert, inneffectual ocupant of the White House for the past 7 years.
Your negative comments regarding our leader may result in your being banned from this site.
That is so gratifying that the New Orleans debacle so discomforts you, PS. The day Bush did his flyover en route from vacation to DC, I saw the picture, and I said, this is going to hurt. Within days, a number of writers, including the now deceased Molly Ivins, said this is it. This is the turning point. From now forward, this Administration will be viewed a dismal failure. They were right. That opened the floodgates (no pun) intended for criticsim long withheld over anything and everything the Administration had not done or had done poorly. In substance, it isn't particularly fair. To be sure, Clinton wouldn't have flown over. He'd have been in waders sloshing through, hugging people, crying. He would have managed the relief effort better, probably much better, but in the end, there would have been little difference, except in perception. That perception really gauls you, doesn't it? That couldn't please me more. How wonderful it is to see the foremost Bush foot-licker recoiling against the unfairness of it all. It sets so many things right.

Ah, the war in Iraq will NOT be as the left wanted....a failure of Bush.......the speech last night made that clear......
"Clinton and Obama’s divergent views on the troop surge in Iraq, however, were plainly visible.
"When Bush proclaimed, 'Ladies and gentlemen, some may deny the surge is working, but among terrorists there is no doubt,' Clinton sprang to her feet in applause but Obama remained firmly seated. The president’s line divided most of the Democratic audience, with nearly half standing to applaud and the other half sitting in stony silence."

Ah....the radical left still wants defeat and death of freedom and people in Iraq....but the surge stopped that from happening......
there has been progress and hopefully, the next 11 months will see more progress on both the political and security fronts there.....
But the candidates will have to face their previous records and both Obama and Clinton have to answer some tought questions.....
Like their predictions on the surge, their cry for withdrawl timetables dictated by the congress AND their lack of accuracy in believing the US would lose in Iraq......
That still may happen depending on what the next president does after Bush hands over the keys in 1/09.....Will the next president ruin the improvements or allow the troops to continue helping those freedom loving people achieve their destiny?
NOLA was a cesspool before Katrina. The storm did billions of dollars of improvements to that rathole.
"NOLA was a cesspool before Katrina. The storm did billions of dollars of improvement to that rathole."
Another example of extreme right wing empathy and compassion on full display on this blog.
Wah! Wah!
The Surge is a success. Five more deaths in an already deadly month. The Surge is a success. The Iraqi government has ceased functioning (half the ministries are closed and the Parliament can't get a quorum). The Surge is working. Insurgent activity now in the North. The Surge is working. The British are leaving. The Surge is working. Say it again: the Surge is working. Maybe you'll convince yourself.
Wah! Wah! The radical left doesn't like Bush.
Wah! Wah!
You're the biggest joke in the nation, Cee.
Noname isnt even paying attention to even the NY TImes.
The liberals that claim the surge is not working are the biggest disgrace to the democratic party, and an embarrassment to this country. Your a pathetic American, anonymous...
Maybe if the liberals can keep whining that the surge is not working, they can get it to stick- despite the facts
"yellowcake pancake, yellow pancake of Niger." Keith Olbermann.
What is this moron talking about? What is a yellow cake pancake? This is what happens when you try to have a sports caster do a news program.
Poor anon....great news about the Iragi security forces facing Al Queda themselves, large regions being handed over to those same security forces...US troops are coming home, reconciliation between the rival political factions is progressing....Oh yeah and the icing on the cake.....It is not a political issue anymore that BENEFITS the left.....the candidates have even admitted this as fact and want to discuss other issues they see as helpful to their campaigns.....
And George Bush just continues along his planned path, untouched by the hatred and desperation of the radical, anti-American left....
Reality hurts, anon....I know.....the struggle for freedom and democracy in Iraq will continue past 1/09.....and the next president will be held to account for it's success.....
NOT GEORGE BUSH!......like it or lump it!
Stop the war!....Cut the funds NOW!
And this is my post today, the 1,735th day since the declaration of Mission Accomplished in Iraq.....
I am cee, good night and good luck.
"I'd tell you that the Democrats are talking a good game, but they're not even doing that. Everybody in Congress has to understand something: If they continue to fund this war, it's not just the President who owns it. They own it, too." Sgt. Liam Madden
"There were a few tense moments, however, including an encounter involving Joshua Sparling, 25, who was on crutches and who said he was a corporal with the 82nd Airborne Division and lost his right leg below the knee in Ramadi, Iraq. Mr. Sparling spoke at a smaller rally held earlier in the day at the United States Navy Memorial, and voiced his support for the administration's policies in Iraq. Later, as antiwar protesters passed where he and his group were standing, words were exchanged and one of the antiwar protestors spit at the ground near Mr. Sparling; he spit back." NYT 1/28/07
"I think the Vietnamese are better off in Vietnam," George McGovern - NEWSWEEK
"Lefties: Leave these pathetic drowning rats alone to stew in each other's juices. Get yourselves out in the street and fight this criminal administration in ways that really mean something, and that are noted by more than a handful of keyboard heroes!" Sir Loin of Beef
"American liberals need to face these truths: The demand for self-government was and remains strong in Iraq despite all our mistakes and the violent efforts of al Qaeda, Sunni insurgents and Shiite militias to disrupt it." DEMOCRAT Bob Kerrey
"If we end up saying that because these people are committing these acts of terrorism in Iraq or Afghanistan, that we shouldn't have done the removal of Saddam or the removal of the Taliban, then we are making a fundamental mistake about our own future, about security, about the values we should be defending in the world." TONY BLAIR
"You can't bring the troops home if you give George Bush $100 billion to wage this war. You're not supporting them. You're keeping them in harm's way." CINDY SHEEHAN
"There is no doubt ... that Al Qaeda is operating in Iraq. There is no doubt that we've had to take very strong measures against them. And there is no doubt that the Iraqi security forces have got to be strong enough to be able to withstand not just the violence that has been between the Sunni and the Shia population and the Sunni insurgency, but also Al Qaeda itself." GORDON BROWN
"People of America: the world is following your news in regards to your invasion of Iraq, for people have recently come to know that, after several years of tragedies of this war, the vast majority of you want it stopped. Thus, you elected the Democratic Party for this purpose, but the Democrats haven't made a move worth mentioning. On the contrary, they continue to agree to the spending of tens of billions to continue the killing and war there." OSAMA BIN LADEN
"Al Qaeda really hurt us, but not as much as Rupert Murdoch has hurt us, particularly in the case of Fox News. Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda--worse for our society. It's as dangerous as the Ku Klux Klan ever was."
KEITH OLBERMANN
"Thinking such as your's is a cancer on our nation that needs to be cut out." MIKE posted 10/4/07 7:02PM
Sorry, Robbie-Bobbie, no one seriously believes the Surge is working. Well, maybe Cee, but he drives nails into 2 x 4's with his forehead and pulls them out with his teeth. "The Surge is Working" is a campaign slogan like "Compassionate Conservative" or even the shorter-lived "A Reformer with Results". Slogans. It is what Bush does best.
No a slogan is Obama saying he is the canidate of "Change" while standing next to Ted Kennedy.
Short list of people that agree with Cee that the surge is working
Murtha, Clinton. Pelosi, Kennedy...
It seems noname is among the idiot masses... I bet the dolt with no name thinks Bush brought down the Trade Centers too. Keep coming here nameless... you show how dumb the left is.
"no one seriously believes the Surge is working"

MR. RUSSERT: If General Petraeus says, “Senator, in September you called the surge the suspension of belief. It has worked, and you know it’s worked"--let me finish--"you can see on the ground. I’m saying to you, Senator, or president-elect Clinton, don’t destroy Iraq. It’s working, the surge is working. Keep troops there just a few more months to get this reconciliation complete.”
SEN. CLINTON: ...The point of the surge was to quickly move the Iraqi government and Iraqi people. That is only now beginning to happen, and I believe in large measure because the Iraqi government, they watch us, they listen to us. I know very well that they follow everything that I say. And my commitment to begin withdrawing our troops in January of 2009 is a big factor, as it is with Senator Obama, Senator Edwards, those of us on the Democratic side. It is a big factor in pushing the Iraqi government to finally do what they should have been doing all along.

Your leading candidate for the presidential nomination is splitting hairs over WHY THE SURGE IS WORKING, anon! He, he, he....you are very uninformed...Your leftist ruling elite are spinning the positive news coming from Iraq to their own advantage or simply ignoring it!
No one?.....Wow....I guess no one means "everyone."
Like shooting fish in a barrel.
My guess is the idiot with noname is now googling - looking for "anyone" that doesnt agree the surge is working. Perhaps he'll even stumble on Osama's last ramble that was a reaction to Al Queda's demise in Iraq.
Pathetic loser.
No I was googling 'booger brain' and I kept getting 'Rob', 'Cee' and 'Rob and Cee'. How about reading until the end of the sentence sometime? All of these individuals said the Surge has made conditions in Baghdad safer. That's a no brainer. Anyone with any sense, i.e. anyone other than Bush, Cheney, Rice and Rumsfeld, said if we were going to permanently occupy Iraq we needed more troops FROM THE TIME THE OCCUPATION BEGAN. All of people you named added the Surge has accomplished nothing politically and that the insurgency is either moving (Murtha) or will reappear when we draw down (Murtha and the rest).
Cee: Cut the ruling leftist elitist crap. You sound like a drooling old fool.

I'm the Worst!

I'm not sure what I won for, but apparently it was something on my rather benign appearance on "Reliable Sources" this Sunday. That's the same edition of "Reliable Sources" that Olbermann appeared on, suggesting that he likely only watches TV shows during which he can admire and ponder the elegant swoop of his own ashen newscaster pompadour.
Update: Ooh, the first of the enlightened liberal acolytes of Olbermann writes to tell me to go back to pole-dancing. Progressive!

The surge IS working.
Next topic?

It is? When did political reconciliation happen?

Newsie, I remember one comment by KO or a guest making a snide remark that mentioned pole dancing in regard to Vitter's wife or Thompson's wife, if that is the question.

I know if I try to inform you there will be another excuse to support your poor Monday Morning Quarterbacking.....like our other resident leftists....Mike, SLOB, etc....
But I'll try anyway.....
"'We cannot ignore recent improvements both in the security and political situation in Iraq,' said Staffan de Mistura. 'The notable decline in hostile activities can be credited to the cumulative effect of increased deployment of MNF-I [multi-national forces in Iraq] troops, the cease-fire declared by Moqtada al-Sadr [and we hope it will be reconfirmed and we all work for that], the role of the [Sunni Arab] Awakening Councils, and increased cooperation with neighbors on security-related issues. Let me add also the Iraqi fatigue. Many Iraqis are tired to see the violence has led nowhere and that is also helping the situation.'
"De Mistura singled out the Iraqi parliament's adoption earlier this month of a law allowing former members of the Sunni-dominated Baath party back into government jobs and entitling them to pensions, as a welcome step toward national reconciliation.
"He said the U.N. Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) would continue its work to help Iraq's government resolve internal boundary disputes; help returning refugees and internally displaced persons; and advancing regional dialogue.
"U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, who briefed the council on behalf of the multi-national forces in Iraq, pointed to a number of positive indicators on the security front, including a significant drop in civilian and coalition casualties, since the so-called surge began last January.
"'Another striking trend is the reduction of ethno-sectarian attacks and deaths - both of which have decreased over 90 percent in the Baghdad security districts from January to December 2007,' said Zalmay Khalilzad."

Even the international community is trying to keep Iraq from slipping into islamic radicalism and yet the anti-American left just cannot join the positive forces....They continue to whine and deny the great work our troops, the international community and the Iraqi people are doing after the despot Saddam Hussein was rightfully and successfully removed!
Oh well....keep it up leftists.....you look more foolish everyday!
And if a leftist becomes Commander in Chief and reverses Bush's successful policy....history will remember the course Iraq took 2007-2008 and who really caused the defeat of democracy against Al Queda and other radical theocratic islamists....like Iran!
Lovely!
\"The surge IS working.\"
It is? When did political reconciliation happen?
Anon, you are being purposefully obtuse.....the 2:54PM post is clear at the evaluation of the political and security improvements made by the UN....not the RNC or White House......
Reconciliation between Sunni, Shia, Kurd and the many minorities is occurring and people are returning to Iraq to live in freedom and prosperity....The only people in the world who deny this and want it NOT TO EXIST are the islamic terrorists and the American left!
Oh the irony!
3:41 is a perfect example of your theory, cee. He didn't read a single word of your 2:54 post because it didn't come from one of his fav far left blogs. The best is to ignore the trolls.

Ham says that one of Olbermann's fans said it. I don't see any mention that he did.
Not that he isn't capable of a remark like that about women, as are people on the right.
The old faithful "dumb slut" appellation is a fav with both sides.
