    Oops, J$

That's Naomi Klein. Naomi Watts is this hottie:

    "Shock and Awe" "Shock Doctrine"

    ! ! ! ! !

That's all the proof I need!

    > That's Naomi Klein. Naomi Watts is this hottie:

Thanks. Fixed it. I don't know what could have been on my mind!

Let me get this right... the student uprising in China during the 80's is an example for Klein's theory?!

You could attach that same scenario to virtually any crisis history which even remotely involved a capitalist nation.

Everything from the results of post-WWII Japan, what's happened to Vietnam in the aftermath of the Vietnam War, to Clinton's bombing of Bosnia (and subsequently the jet that crashed while heading over there carrying Clinton Commerce Secretary Ron Brown and a plethora of CEOs).

why/patsy, what does your tripe have to do with olbyonesidedkanoby or Naomi Klein? Go back to your fav athiest site or maybe make a joke out of yourself with some of that 'truthout' crap.

    > More racism from the right:

What in the wide world of sports does this have to do with Olbermann or Naomi Klein? And neat bit of editing there, Why, snipping out the fact that Novak was quoting Joe Biden, that well known racist of the right.

    Vote republican !

    You talked me into it!

Why, snipping out the fact that Novak was quoting Joe Biden, that well known racist of the right.

Posted by: johnny dollar at January 6, 2008 3:19 PM

'Why," make shit up and spin? Shocked, stunned and amazed.

That's why the poster sometimes known as 'why' didn't post the link, he knew he was being dishonest. Philby, don't call him a single name, grasp tightly to your badge o hypocriticism.

Leave Creationism to the Sunday bible studies or to Sharon's home school curriculum which probably consists of 80% religion anyway.

    (Chicken crapper)

If you attack someone personally without verifiable facts, there is a better than 80% chance you are an Olbyloon.

I apologize to Johnny for not remaining on the thread topic, but my name was quoted and the comment was left to stand.

You fail to comprehend that there are various groups of Christians. There are groups of Christians who believe in sola scripture (Bible alone). Catholics follow the Bible and Tradition. Is there a literal 6 day creation? "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." 2 Peter 3:8 I don't know how long creation took or at what point the soul was infused into man.

Secondly, there is a theory called theistic evolution (a topic I have seen but not studied). Now, how will this take into account the objection to separation of church and state? So what appears to me that what will be taught is that man came into being through either chance, natural selection, some theory that does not involve God. I think that is where parents will start to see the conflict, ones who are not evangelical. They want their children to appreciate science but don't want an atheistic presentation of the facts. After all, a pretty large number do label themselves as Christians.

Why do you think there is a theological schism between evangelicals and Catholics? This is not meant to cause a wedge between the two groups but point out another view.

Speaking of the topic of chimps, I never heard an answer from you, chicken blogger.

Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 - Declares that it should be the policy of the United States to seek to remove the Saddam Hussein regime from power in Iraq and to replace it with a democratic government. H.R.4655

I thought it was all Bush's chimpocracy idea to spread freedumbs? Why would there be practically unopposed legislation signed by the President in 1998 (with vociferous objection by Republican Ron Paul) if it was such a chimpy idea that democracy would flourish? There was no war authorization then and compelling arguments can be made against the war (that were not made when it counted). But I am hearing that it was a ridiculous endeavor to even suppose a democratic Iraq.

There was one response, to his/her credit, lame as it was.

Additionally, no response for the following:

DESIGNATION OF IRAQI DEMOCRATIC OPPOSITION ORGANIZATION.

    (a) INITIAL DESIGNATION- Not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act , the President shall designate one or more Iraqi democratic opposition organizations that the President determines satisfy the criteria set forth in subsection (c) as eligible to receive assistance under section 4.

90 Days! Think about that. And this is with the President determining whether criteria are met.

Posted by: Sharon at January 5, 2008 12:40 AM

    90 days for Mission Accomplished

    "Academy stresses evolution's importance"

Yet dogmatic poseurs such as Cecelia still think Creationism should be taught in public schools.
( There is a limited amount of time in a classroom each day. What should be omitted? Math, History, Reading ?)
Here is yet another example of the problems religion creates in our society.
Leave Creationism to the Sunday bible studies or to Sharon's home school curriculum which probably consists of 80% religion anyway.

You don't know what I think, idiot.

I enjoy seeing Professor Honeydew (or his real descriptive name, mental midget) get all insensed over what a pundit says, yet a nominee from his poilitical class says the same thing several months ago and.....well, nothing....

Do we all remember Joe Biden?....

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."

    http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Story?id=2838420&page=1

    ###
Where was the mental midget's consternation then?....Oh well....Once again the professor is slapped down by his own hypocrisy....

I won't even touch his religious bigotry....

".....the problems religion creates in our society......."

    ###
"our society,".....man oh man mental midget....you are one elitist bigot for the books....You and Mr. blank-FLUCKER (cue OLD SPICE jingle), also know as Daddy FLUCKER (cue Mr. Magoo theme), should go golfing together and review all those funny names you've used through the years for the hebes as well....

I'm going to see Naomi Klein speak at UCLA on the end of January.

That would certainly bring out the worst in the racist republicans and they would be tripping over themselves over who to slam/smear first.

Mark Penn, senior political strategist for the HILLARY CLINTON campaign, today urged Barack Obama to "come clean" and admit that he has fathered two African American girls.

Great video, and that guy has others on his YouTube channel. It's amazing what people will believe these days.

I recommend the video "Naomi Klein debates Milton Friedman" here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2kTy7glZ9s

It has some of the same comments (because she says the same wrong things) but there's a great part where she tries to quote Friedman and her misquote compared to what he actually said is crazy. It starts at 1:45 or so.

...NOVAK: I think the only potential Achilles heel is in a general election, if there is some racist prejudice. I'm not sure there is. He's, as poor Joe Biden said, he's clean. He isn't a stereotype African-American. And I think he's a very strong candidate.

Posted by: Great Thanks at January 6, 2008 6:20 PM

Thank you for posting this link. It was fascinating.

I'm not certain (because it was a short video) that the video maker didn't cut to Ms. Klein paraphrasing Friedman's words rather than her entirely misquoting him. That said, even such a paraphrase would be a total mischaracterization of what he said.

I enjoy too the irony of the "Copious Dissent" banner on both videos. Compare this to a tv host who has, in effect, declared martial law in his studio, by saying that things are so dire in our national life that he cannot bear or afford to indulge dissent on his television show.

I'd trust my fate to the Milton Friedmans over the Olbermanns of the world, any day.

In all honesty, the credit goes to Johnny. I researched and posted the proof.

I have decided this site makes me WAY too angry. So in the interest of self preservation and a decrease in blood pressure, I will waste no more of my life thinking about Keith or his particular brand of insanity. Keep up the good fight J$. Have fun everyone.

This place is no better than The Newshole. Same people carrying on the same lame off topic conversation, day after day.

Do you actually think that the 'newshole' would let an intelligent post through? A different opinion? The 'newshole' is a spin off of 'countdown.' Lop sided as they come. You have to be referring to the olbyloons tat get their posts accepted. THEY are the off topic/lame posters. Yes, there are some of those here. I won't name any names though. Between the 4 of them, it would take up the whole thread.

What have I said before? If it wasn't yesterday, it has no bearing. Unless it makes the (d)'s or olbermahn look good, then they can go back to the ice ages. Thanks, patsy!

There is a great quote by Milton Freedmen that this communist liar distorts.
The failure of socialism is the idea, that you can do good with someone else’s money. The two flaws in this idea are that first you have to take someone else’s money and then you have to spend it better than they can. What does government do? It takes your money by force and then it spends it to promote its own self interest I.E. lining the pockets of politicians.

Naomi Klein is not a Commie. She is definately an advocate for mixed economies.

I share you belief that Friedman made some significant contributions, but much of his work is quickly becoming passé.

    How so?

From Pat Buchanan's and your mouth to God's ear, huh?

I'm sure it continues to be unpopular in certain circles, but in the last 24 years we've had three presidents whose policies, to one extent or another, embraced it, technology that make extremely difficult to restrict it, and govts abroad that are slowly and in ways similar to the U.S., acquiescing to it.

    The:

Your hero's name is "Friedman," not Freedman. I know that sounds petty,

    posted by philby

It sounds petty because it is.

Well, thanks for the direct response, A N O N Y M O U S, but I don't see anything new in your argument that would reflect any new tendency away from what is/was Friedman's overall effect on economic philosophy and policy.

To give the corollary, would be to argue that the notion of societal safety nets is passe due to some inherent problems within welfare policy.

We'd both be indulging in wishful thinking to-- some extent (I am for a basic safety net).

Aside for differences about the good of some tax policies and of course safety nets, there's very little dissent among economists, no matter their individual politics, about the good of free markets and their decided aversion to economic ideas of populism.

They are all currently playing on Friedman's field and I don't see much that will change that in the future.

The problem with the Japanese banking system is not free market. It is the exact opposite. The government in Japan props up failing banks and thus nationalizes the banking system. Here is a good article on this.

So, the Japanese banking system and government works just like the US? Once again you prove your stupidity. Run along.

Does anyone know why the video is no longer available and where can a transcript might be found?

    Thanks,

    Grammie

I tried several urls for a Klein/Olbermann video and all said not available until a few minutes ago until from Advocate 1234 at YouTube worked.

I just tried OW's link after reading your comment and it is available now also.

Operator error is always posiible, if not probable, for me b/c I'm not exactly a computer whiz.

    Thanks,

    Grammie

Glad you found it, Mrs. Hawkins. It is one of the more interesting and relevant clips ever posted at OW.

Yes, it's always fascinating to hear the latest version of the Trilateral Commission conspiracy meme

Do you think, Cecelia, I might just have meant it was interesting and relevant because of what it says about the person/people speaking that bogus line of crap? I hazard to guess I find it more baseless and ludicrous than you do.

    Posted by: A N O N Y M O U S at January 7, 2008 6:48 PM

No, I hadn't because so far in any conversation about Klein, you've only corrected The Factor's spelling, gotten your usual ego fix with RK, called Friedman passe and then admitted that perhaps...alas....he isn't THAT passe yet...

By all means, go on with what Klein's bogus crap speaks about her and the people who buy into it.

Monsieur Capon Blank-Flucker, I could describe the video in many ways but neither interesting nor relevant would apply.

Virtually every way I would use to describe it would be a variant on the theme of crazy conspiracy theory meets Bush/Consevative Derangement Syndrome. :)

    Grammie

couple of babbling bitches. what exactly are they trying to say? saddam should still be ruling?

Monsieur Capon Blank-Flucker, from what deep dark dregs of your psyche did you conjure this from:

"There were no clips of a nude Bob Hope."

    Oh! Please forget I asked!

I have seen enough of you to know that whatever of your psyche is left uncharted can only be a blessing to mankind.

    Grammie

HOW LAME CAN YOU GO, Monsieur Capon Blank-Flucker?

It would be best to hold your tongue rather than spouting such an inane and foolish response.

Take a short hike to the highest bridge, ok loser?

Factor, that was a prime once in a lifetime link that delineates and and demonstrates our bestial mooing, braying and baaing KO lover fan posters here!

Should I say Great Thanks or should it be Pleasured?

You said it Sport, not me.

Close only counts in horseshoes and bocce ball.

Upon further reflection I do believe you might be correct, Chicken Blogger.

Monsieur Capon Blank-Flucker has never been closer to a pair of cajones than when playing Bocce Ball.

    How sad!

"Mrs. Hawkins! Your faux ball buster persona only accentuates your randiness.

Dear there is nothing "faux" about it!

    Grammie

Then, you do love Keith Olbermann but you are too afraid to admit it?

    - Fuck off.

The honest answer to the last question the loons are too afraid to admit is 'yes,' patsy. Thanks! Being ashamed to admit you like someone is pathetic, to say the least.

If you REALLY WERE'NT an olbyloon, you would agree w/me. You're an olbyloon, philby.
