"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith Olbermann
Topics/Guests:
The day after the Potomac Primaries, the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann assiduously bellowed the opening spiel: Clinton's "bleak options"! McCain vs Huckabee! Bush "terrorizing" the nation! Congress folds! Clemens! And more! It's hump day at Olbermann Watch, when we learn when the word "lynch" is eeevil, and when it's perfectly acceptable (hint: evil = Republican saying it, acceptable = on the Hour of Spin).
#5: Hillary "grasping at straws". Barack's economic plan (clip). New Clinton ad (played for free in its entirety). Merkle compares Clinton's campaign to (gasp!) Rudy's. Keith pimped out The Wolffe Man, who simpered about Clinton's "message". He was Great Thanksed.
On to SuperDelegates. Bearded Chuck Todd nattered about Obama's lead and why, if "dynamics" don't change, it will be heard to catch her. He too was Great Thanksed.
#4: On to the GOP: John McCain is "uninspiring". Well, that's a step up from delusional liar. His Tuesday night speech was a "Red Skelton impression". Rim-Shot! (The Laughing Stagehand liked that one.) It was the return of Rule #1 as "Man on Fan" Olbermann described McCain's criticisms of Obama as "self destructive". Keith pimped out another leftist, E.J. Dionne, who bloviated and was Great Thanksed.
After a Rove! [Ding!] Rove! [Ding!] Rove! [Ding!] Rove! [Ding!] Rove! [Ding!] Rove! [Ding!] Rove! [Ding!] plus a Bush's Brain! [Ding!] came #3: Damn that Senate! They voted to protect the telecom companies, who are "collaborators". Yes, more Nazi imagery from Herr Olbermahn. Time for another episode of Olby & the Perfessor. How long before Jonathan alleges a federal crime? Start the TurleyClock... tick tick tick...[Ding!] 24 seconds. A New Record for the Perfessor! Those Dems, rolling over for the Republicans, and not doing what Oralmann wants. How dare they? Yep, the Perfessor was Great Thanksed.
#2: Nothing. #1: Steroidapalooza, complete with a "throw under the bus"! [Ding!] Not a word from that defender of the constitution, Edward R Olbermoronn, about just what gives Congress the right to put on these show trials in the first place.
In the Media Matters Minute, Fat Ass attacked the "delusional" Justice Scalia (Blue Blog Source: Talking Points Memo), and, yes, he attacked war hero John McCain (Blue Blog Source: Carpetbagger Report). If this was 1974, Keith Oralmann would be Jane Fonda. Oh he also went after Tom Davis (Blue Blog Source: Washington Independent), for describing the witness treatment of Roger Clemens as a "form of lynching". Horrors! Memories of nooses! KKK! Fat Ass was outraged. Somehow he showed none of that outrage when, on his own program, a guest described the possible lynching of an American Idol contestant. What's that? Did you say Olbypocrisy? We thought you did.
Muted Mongrels: Woof!
Tonight's MisterMeter reading: 4 [GUARDED]
And that's The Hour of Spin for this, the 648th day since the declaration that "Karl Rove will be indicted".
Keith really hates it when America makes it tougher for the terrorists. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw another "Special Comment" soon.
"Anonymous law enforcement and military officials revealed that F.B.I. interrogators provided Al Qaeda suspects with “food whenever they were hungry as well as Starbucks coffee at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba,” The Washington Post wrote in a front-page article."

Was this before or after we GASP!! poured water on their face?
Why do we do such terrible things to these brave freedom fighters?
From the said May 5, 205 show.
OLBERMANN: And I don‘t know about the big deal about Paula Abdul. I was in LA when she was a Laker girl, and who she slept with then didn‘t seem to bother anybody, 25 years ago.
Well, at least you have to give Olby credit. He's consistent about degrading women after all these years.
"#1: Steroidapalooza, complete with a "throw under the bus"! [Ding!] Not a word from that defender of the constitution, Edward R Olbermoronn, about just what gives Congress the right to put on these show trials in the first place."
Are you saying that Congress has no right to regulate baseball? It sounds like you could be, since your clip is titled "They have no business doing it".
Well, Major League Baseball is a billion dollar+ business with an anti-trust exemption. As such it is free to govern and police itself almost entirely free of restriction.
When they are not capable of governing themselves, as this scandal proves that is the case, then Congress has every right to step in and force them to do the legal if not moral thing.
Since baseball ignored the abuse of illegal performance enhancing drugs for decades Congress was within its right to step in. They could also impose a repeal of the anti-trust exemption, which I'm pretty sure MLB wouldn't be happy about. That is a big part of why they are playing ball with Congress, so to speak.
2005
zero key got stuck
If there were only an investigative reporter willing to stand outside MSLSD and ask Keith the tough questions, record his answers and give them to Olbermannwatch. Imagine someone asking Keith, "why is it ok for you to say "pimping" but not ok for others?" Or "why did you think it OK to perform a nazi salute?" Oh how fun that would be! Imagine Keith's response -- the long(er) face, the frenzied waddling scurry to his Honda Accord, the clumbsy shuffling of keys and the mumbled curses. After all, there is nothing Keith hates more than ad libbing under pressure! Any cub reporters out there?
> Are you saying that Congress has no right to regulate baseball?
I'm saying that it is at least an ISSUE that Congress spends all day on the question of whether a private citizen got a shot of something so long ago that it's not even a crime any more even if it did happen. And what in the constitution gives them the right to conduct an inquisition of entertainers about these matters. What's next, Congressional hearings into how many drugs Amy Winehouse uses?
The key issue in this entire story is whether the Congress has the right, or even should, be meddling in it at all. The fact that Oralmann completely skipped over the most important issue of all to debate whether somebody took a drug ten years ago is typical of his assiduously shallow news judgment.
> Imagine Keith's response -- the long(er) face, the frenzied waddling scurry to his Honda Accord, the clumbsy shuffling of keys and the mumbled curses.
Sorry, KfK. He can't run to his Honda Accord. He can't drive a car.
What went on today was another Congress 'Dog & Pony' Show.
http://www.nypost.com/seven/02112008/sports/yankees/capitol_shills_388137.htm
What the real question should be is. How many of the members of congress reported the 'Gift' autograph baseballs?
A Roger Clemens autograph baseball go's for about $150 bucks these days. Well, maybe after this messy little drug thing it's dropped a few cents.
Don't worry folks, this is the New Pure Democratic Congress.
No favors here!
And K-Street is gone too right?
> It is also a priveledge for baseball to operate with an anti-trust exemption. A priveledge that no other BUSINESS, not just sport, is offered in this whole country.
that argument would be resolved by repealing it--leave interrogating people who play games about things that are not criminal to the leagues rather than politicians looking for face time. I don't claim to know the answer, but to present this whole story without even a passing acknowledgement of the issue of government assuming it has the right to investigate anyone it wants for any reason it pleases, is just shallow.

The hearing were about illegal activity within a huge, unregulated industy. There was every reason for the session.
Maybe he should have acknowledged that there is an issue among many people that question the validity of the hearings. I think that would be fair. I don't think he would have to agree with it, but mentioning it in its context would be ok.
BTW, did anyone watch the hearings?
The questioning of both Clemens and McNamee was almost perfectly divided down partisan lines.
Almost all of the republicans wanted to kiss Roger's ass, and almost all dems wanted to hold him accountable.
I don't really know what that means, considering that the republicans are supposed to be tough on crime, tough on drugs, and the party of family values. It sure didn't seem like it today.

Just as a demonstration of the partisanship that you wanted to drag into this, one could just as easily say that the Dems all wanted to kiss the ass of an admitted drug pusher, while the Repubs, doubtful of taking the word of such a character, were giving Clemens the legal presumption of innocence. So much for the "family values" and respect for the constitution shown by the Dems.
I don't claim that as my position, just as a demonstration of how easy it is for partisan hackery to twist everything into some sort of Dem/GOP wedge issue.
Ah, the democratic revolution of 2006!
They spend their time harassing private citizens such as Roger Clemens, McNamee and Rush Limbaugh while ignoring their promises to their base.
Just gotta love em!
Grammie
We want to have a full investigation of some over paid baseball players wasting millions of dollars, but, leave the terrorists alone. They're good people just trying to live their lives.

Sad and true.
I can't believe you guys didn't see this before..ko 'advertised' on Obama fund raising site: http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a379/jeannie411/?action=view¤t=aobama.jpg
I think Congress has a legitimate purpose holding a hearing on this steroid business.
It really comes down to a public health issue. The government has a place in protecting the health of its citizens. If only to stigmatize performance enhancing drugs and ostracize the games' cheaters, Congress can be credited with cleaning up an industry that has immense influence on the development of its youth. The temptation to use performance enhancing drugs by kids in their developing years can be immense - particularly if it is an acceptable practice in one of America's entertainment staples.
We're not talking professional wrestling or some other low level activity here. If Congress can expose the abuse at the highest tier, it will flow to all of the other activities and careers American kids might pursue through athletics. We already know how obsessive and over-emphasized professional athletics affects kids. With drugs potentially impacting youth athletics, the issue is even more critical.
The argument against these hearings should not be confused with "personal and recreational" drug use by other entertainment performers either - like the music industry and other junky professions. Although illegal, such drug use is tangential and not essential to its profession, and does not have the potential of becoming encouraged - or even a NECESSITY - for success in their field like it can be in youth athletics.
Missing from COUNTDOWN lately has been news from Iraq.....I wonder why....
Oh that's right, the goverenment just passed a compromise budget and is slowly moving forward towards continued reconciliation and power sharing....democracy is slowly marching on.....
Under the wonder service of our Armed Forces....
Oh well....Spring '08 approaches....and the US troops continue their good work despite the threats by....
who now?
who wanted them out by Spring '08?....
The terrorists I am sure but there is someone I am missing....
Oh yes....now I remember....the anti-American left and their ruling class threatened to pull them out....in fact PROMISED they would be out of Iraq by Spring '08.....
I recall an election in 2006 when it was supposed to be that power would result in change in Iraq....people like Professor Honeydew (WDYT) and Mike were very giddy about it all....
mmmm....Well. Surge, political progress, victory.....versus.....
Obama, Clinton, Reid, Pelosi....calling it all "failure." Our troops failed and need to come home.....
Ok.
Sorry, KfK. He can't run to his Honda Accord. He can't drive a car.
Posted by: johnny dollar at February 13, 2008 10:44 PM
I don't think Olbermann would drive a Honda Accord anyway. We are talking about a nouveau sort of guy who bought an apartment in the Trump tower while his peers go for the older architecturally renown buildings.
Keith would have a Lexus. :D
Interesting comment from Bill Clinton to Plante from ABC re Olby/Shuster.
"Plante asked about Sen. Clinton's reaction to the comments Shuster made about Chelsea being "pimped out" by the campaign: "There have been other incidents on MSNBC, where Keith Olbermann, for example, said President Bush was pimping General David Petraeus, where Erin Burnett referred to President Bush twice as 'the monkey,'" Plante said. "Inappropriate things are said by the press. Do you believe it’s really appropriate for senior government leaders to come down on reporters when they become angry with things that they’ve said?"
Said Clinton, slowly, "I think it was inappropriate for him... to refer ...to my daughter ….in the way he did."
He went on, "it was representative of the kind of blatant, careless, crass, cruel remarks that are altogether too common. And I wouldn’t use disrespectful language referring to General Petraeus or anybody else. But I think that it is remarkable how many sexist things have been said in this campaign that have not been reprimanded"
I see....We ignore the good news and only report on the macabre as it helps the political position....
And if "The American People," are so against troops in Iraq, why are the democrats still funding the war? Why do both Obama and Clinton hedge about keeping troops there? Why are we successful in protecting freedom and democracy if it is a failure and the troops continue to believe in their mission and support it?
And if you really think a democrat prez will act any differently than a republican prez when confronted with:
I withdraw the forces, the progress will be lost and I will be held responsible.....or..
I keep the forces there and progress continues.....
I would love to make a bet with you!
Even now, both Obama and Clinton are hedging saying they will have to assess the situation and rely of their advisors....
Oh what will the radical left do when there are still troops in Iraq in 2012?
A third party, perhaps?
Poor wannawipe just can't face the fact that promises are made (troops out by Spring 08) and promises are broken.....
And lies are made...."Iraq is lost, we have failed...." Oh dear.
When is the cult leader obama going to start offering washing machines to Americans, like mandela did?
I am just waiting to see the plan the left has to insure democracy remains in Iraq and radical terrorists do not take over the government, killa?....I know what the President and McCain will do....insure security for these wonderful allies (just like South Korea) no matter what....but what will the democrats do?
The troops will be there in 1/09.....IF Obama or Clinton become president and withdraw the troops despite the current progress, who will be responsible for defeat, killa?
That is the problem the democrats did not want to face and why they promised withdraw by Spring'08 back in '06.....Now that they cannot fulfill that promise, they make a promise that troops will be out withing 16 months of their presidency?
Oh, ok....good plan.....Then what?
THAT'S RIGHT....EVEN OBAMA says he will reserve the right to change policy depending on the conditions on the ground and advise from the military.
Promises, promises leftists.....You're leadership is lying.....again.
Poor Killa....did you get upset when FDR tortured and executed those nasty German spies back in WWII...under military tribunal with LESS due process than what we will be offerring the 9/11 conspirators?
Oh that's right.....FDR is a democrat and it was ok for him to act even WORSE than any republican has in the last 8 years.....Oh, and that darn supreme court has ruled the process constitutional!
Darn it all....the left wants to coddle terrorists who kill innocent people with planes and suicide bombs....how nice of them....real leadership!
Oooo, and killa, where were Obama and Hillary yesterday to vote against waterboarding....they both decined to vote while McCain was the real man and put his opinion out there!.....
And being a former POW who was exposed to real torture and abuse BY LEFTISTS like yourself in North Vietnam....he has a little more credibility with regards to this!
Aw, poor anon....a reality you have created all on your own?
Sorry, allowing radical terrorists to destroy what the majority of Iraqis have struggled and built with our brave troops is not my deifinition of victory....It may be yours, but I think that is cynical and selfish.
How much money have we spent on the Korean peninsula since 1954?.....Why are we still there?
A threat to democracy.
So dear anon, take your leftist propaganda and chicken hawk argument somewhere else....The republican standad bearer will defuse that argument easily because he has sacrificed for his country more than your silly leftist representatives and has credibility on honor and duty....
Read John McCain's autobiography and get back to me on who is capable of declaring what is an honorable conclusion to a conflict when it comes to the sacrifice of the men and women on that mission.
Obama and Clinton are pathetic when it comes to policy here and have nothing more to offer than platitudes and empty rhetoric.
Oh, the kos kiddies are fired up, today!
Wait, olby sucks....watch this.....
Oh yes, the anti-American left....as represented by posters here today and those kos kiddies....John McCain has had to deal with them as he was tortured by the leftists in North Vietnam as a patriotic POW....oooo lookie here's one of the classy leftists today....
Jane Fonda -- I Wasn't Into Cu*t!
http://www.tmz.com/2008/02/14/jane-fonda-i-wasnt-into-cu-t/
###
And WHERE was the leftist making her classy point today.....NBC News's TODAY SHOW.....
They must be so proud.....
MSNBC shows their professionalism everyday with Olbermann....and now TODAY lets the lovely anti-Ameircan leftist and North Vietnam supporter show her class!
Nice.
"If this was 1974, Keith Oralmann would be Jane Fonda." J$
A great analogy.
Unlike the religious left, anon, most of us who are conservatives do not have litmus tests.....Are you going to have a pro-life speaker at the democrat convention this year, anon?.....How about a pro-Iraq War democrat?.......How about someone againt the use of human beings is experimental research a la ESCR?
Oh that's right.....they are not welcome in the democrat party.....such tolerance....
You see anon, I look for someone who will respect the Constitution....Leftists do not respect The United States Constituion....they think their whims are right and shove their social experiments down the nations throats....
No, McCain respects the Constitution hense my and many conservatives support of him....His personal problems do not seem to have had an ill effect on him like the weak and silly adulterous sodomite Bill Clinton and the strange and marked pant-suit wearing shill he is married to.....They both need counceling.....
Obama on the other hand has some principles and is a born again Christian so I am hoeful the power of the Holy Spirit is there to work its wonders....He is misguided and conflicted in regards to killing innocent unborn babies and protecting people to live and worship and they please, but at least he seems not to have a psychological problem like his opponent, HRC....
No anon, McCain is a great leader, a good man and like Obama and Clinton, deserving of the grace available from The LORD......And my vote as well as millions of other conservaties, evangelicals and "right-wingers."
Sorry about the bad news.
cee, pay no mind to the banned loon he is just frothing at the face, uncontrollably. I think he has a bad case of tourettes syndrome. As far as McCain, he probably heard it on bbc. It must be true, right?
"Tourette Syndrome or Tourettes Disorder is a neurological disorder characterized by involuntary body movements and vocal outbursts known as Tics."
Could we be seeing a Romney/McCain ticket?
The endorcement is key, olby sucks....but I don't think Romney would accept VP if offered to him.....
A cabinet position, more likely.
Let's hope this gives Huckabee the real signal to drop it and let's just watch Clinton Co. try to destroy the first serious African-American candidate for President.....
What a sad sight that is!
Still no response about.....
A democrat party convention speaker who is pro-life....
A democrat party convention speaker who is for the struggle for freedom and democracy in Iraq.....
A democrat party convention speaker who respects human dignity and does not support ESCR......
Oh no.....the tolerant democrat party will have none of that.....
But they will allow their power structure candidate use race baiting politics and wedge issues to try to derail the first serious African-American candidate for President!
What is your response to the dilemna Cee?
###
See 1:42 PM.....Sodomy is copulation other than vaginal intercourse, anon....So please provide your proof of sodomy by McCain if you got it......
No, the adulterous sodomite Bill Clinton admitted to oral sex with his 20-something intern.....in the oval office.....what a nice thing to do while serving the people!
And we now have his wife believing she deserves to be President because she tolerated decades of adultery and shame!.....What a psychic dilemma for the rand and file democrat.....
The compassion for this lowly lady must be strong YET what about the first serious African-American candidate for President?.....
Answer my pithy questions, anon......
2:56 PM....my response is still, 1:42 PM.....and it will contine to be.....
Will you be brave to answer my points dear anon?
Let me guess, anonyloon has McGreevy posters over his bed?
"The dileman for the far right is"
Pray tell, what is a "dileman"?
Grammie
Oh dear Cee,
I have answered your question with air tight logic that demonstrates McCain most certainly must have been a sodmoite. I have also addressed the issue of direct proof of Gingrich\'s Sodomy,
All of which create a real predicament for the far right. But again, do you and others on the for right support McCain for his pro-dscrimination stances or choose to embrace his his flip flop on the issue as a sincere change of heart?
Until the far right comes to grip with this I\'m afraid they will not proceed witheir conservative revolution.
Goodness, gracious! If everything is coming up roses for them, you'd think they'd be a tad less angry and a mite happier... :D
Poor anon.....you can't face the real dirty issues on his own party....while manufacturing problems for the patriotic former POW who has honorably served his country from Hanoi to Washington.....
While people like him and Jane Fonda trampled on the American Flag.....
While people like HRC and her adulterous sodomite husband lead their youthful anti-American lives....
Oh well....the problems any on the right have with the great Americans pale in comparison.....
I have no problem with their final decisions....we are free to make our own decisions....
But anon is hoping for a miracle....
Sodomites like BJ Clinton are are speaking daily and the corporate far left leaning media is giving him a platform. This is morally bankrupt and addresses the issues the far left will have to settle before the party can reunite.
Isn't this fun?
As good Christians We can agree that HRC did no cheating--her husband did. And as a good Christian women she forgave him rather than following the devil\'s path to divorce. The breakup of the family is not somthing I support Cee.
You as a good Christian support McCain leaving his disabled wife for a women 20 years his junior. I could question your ethics for doing so but I won\'t. I ask you to stick to the issues. Sodomites like Gingrich are are speaking daily and corparate right leaning media is giving him a platform. This is morally bankrupt and addresses the issues the right will have to settle before the party can reunite.

Hillary Clinton forgave him and forgave him and forgave him, and that it was in her best interest to do this is a fact.
During Clinton's campaign in 1990, Hillary, along with Betsy Wright, headed up the task force to squelch "bimbo eruptions" coming from Clinton's past indiscretions. When she went on the Today show after Kenneth Star opened his investigation to Linda Tripp's charges, she was very familiar with his pattern and this had to sound all too familiar to her.
She well understood that it was very possible that all the allegations were true, but she continued pointing the finger at others, even as she admitted that if the allegations were true, it would be a very serious charge.
Not only that, but Clinton DID know that the charges were true and still let her go on television, defend him, and accuse others of lying on him.
That there was and is most certainly a component for self-interest in this sort of collaboration/victimization is indisputable, whether you think that was her primary motivation or not.
Not to acknowledge THAT is height of partisan simplification of dynamics that are well-known and far more complex than what you're suggesting.
Cecelia,
I have not argued against Cee, in this post. I agree Sodomy is wrong in any form.
That is why I think the sodomite newt Gingrich was wise not to run. You seem to be against Clinton for issues outside of his sodomy, related perhaps to what he did afterwards and that is your right.
Cee and I however, Feel that sodomy and adultary themselves are wrong. That is why he alwas refers to Clinton as the Sodmite, and the sodomite\'s wife and not the oath breaker as you might be inclined to call him. I agree, that is why I complain about McCain and Newt\'s failings. and I think John McCain may have been wrong to cheat on his handicapped wife.
