"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith Olbermann
Topics/Guests:
It's the Daily Kos's very own Keith Olbermann, back at his anchor desk and ready to kick off another Hour of Spin with the ritual opening spiel: Wisconsin! John Edwards! Dirty Campaigning: how dare they call Obama a plagiarist? Clinton attacks Obama! JFK Conspiracies! It's blue Monday at Olbermann Watch.
#5: Clinton accuses Obama of plagiarism, but Olby sez it ain't so because Barack credited his source once in December. Plus he came up with a bunch of lines Hillary borrowed from somewhere (guess who's campaign sent Bear those talking points?) and tossed in some ridicule of Howard Wolfson. Tight race in Wisconsin, even tighter in Texas. The Pundit for All Occasions nattered but was not Great Thanksed.
Then Olby continued in Obamapologist mode, defending his flip-flop on public financing and attacking Hillary for bringing it up. How dare she make the same criticism ("echoing what a Republican says") as McCain?!? Plus another attack on McCain--like the cherry on a sundae to the infamous, deplorable one. Cillizza yammered and was Great Thanksed.
#4: Al Gore has still not endorsed anyone. And Francisco Franco is still dead. Lefty Alter chattered that the party musn't be split apart but was not Great Thanksed.
After calling Fox News viewers "zombies" Keith "Man on Fan" Olbermann finally got to #3: John McCain with the Bush's Brain [Ding!] guy! Bush has "stink" on him. It's "irresponsible" not to raise taxes. Bush's Brain! [Ding!]
#2: Nicole Kidman, Andy Pettitte. #1: JFK assasination theories.
In the Media Matters Minute, Edward R Olbermann attacked Glenn Beck (Blue Blog Source: Crooks & Liars), the "lunatic right-wing" Heritage Foundation (Blue Blog Source: Salon), and worst was "Mister" Bush (Blue Blog Source: Carpetbagger Report) and his "calumny" and "fear tactics". What's next for Olbermann? Get out a Bush doll and smash it to bits on his desk?
Dogs That Did Not Bark: Keith Oralmann will only go so far. With the Obama "plagiarism" scandal a lead story all over the channels, he couldn't very well ignore it (it was more politic to just minimize it). But in giving it pro forma attention, that gave Bear cover to neatly avoid other things that might prove a bit embarrassing on OlbyPlanet, like Michelle Obama being ashamed of her country for the last 26 years. There's also Bill Jefferson Clinton's latest non-bimbo eruption, along with more evidence to support Oralmann's insistence that Iran is not a threat. Are you convinced yet? Oh, and we had no doubt whatsoever that Edward R Olbermann wouldn't dare, wouldn't dare!, award a "worst person" for this! Tonight's MisterMeter reading: 1 [LOW]
And that's The Hour of Spin for this, the 653rd day since the declaration that "Karl Rove will in fact be indicted".
I can't believe OlberLimp is being so hard on Hilary, he was once her biggest supporter. Oh yeah, his puppet masters at Kos forced him to switch to Obama.
And who is the Zombie Keithy?
He was tough on Clinton tonight, but maybe he's following instructions from the MSNBC overlords, maybe they're holding a grudge over the Shuster flairup. So much for being so fond of both Clintons.
I knew he would spin the plagairism story in Obama's favor, if he even mentioned it at all. I'm winning a small bet over that. Thanks, KO.
Given the fact that 21 relatively moderate Blue Dog Democrats led by Rep. Mike Ross of Arkansas have signed a letter to Mrs. Pelosi urging her to yield on FISA, the speaker realized that she was in danger of suffering yet another humiliating political defeat on the issue. So she pulled the bill from the floor and sent the House on vacation. What this means is that for at least one more week, U.S. intelligence agencies will need to get judicial permission to monitor any new suspected terrorist communications between Beirut and Tehran or Karachi and Kabul. Thus far, Mrs. Pelosi and her friends have responded contemptuously to the security concerns expressed by National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell. The most critical question now is whether Mr. Ross and his fellow Blue Dogs can somehow persuade Mrs. Pelosi that pandering to the kook fringe on national security will damage her politically.

Screwball Chris Mathews and his graphics team confuses Obamanation with his Muslim brother Osama bin Laden and Olbermann says nothing. What does that drop Olbermann's "Manhood quotient" to? If O'Reilly or anyone at Fox News had done that, Oblermann would have had a Specual Komment tonight about how EVIL Fox News is. Olbermann is now a prove coward and anyone who enjoys his show is a proven coward.
CD with KO is a grave yard of WPITWs awarded to anyone on Fox, and especially Bill O, who had a mixup in the scrawl or graphics no matter how minor or innocent.
KO doesn't have an honest bone in his body. So, what else is new?

We report, you decide. He better borrow Hitlery's bimbo patrol.
"Politically neutral" he once whined
"I'm not biased" he further defined
It's what Olby spewed
Journalistically lewd
For a hat Keith wears his behind
Keith switched allegiances from Hillary to Obama after it was clear that Obama would win.

Oh, good lord! Could you imagine if CNN had done that, let alone FNC!
It would have been "EMBLEMATIC" to say the least!
Right now it's looking like MSNBC's prescient decision to be clearly and indisputably on team Obama has carried unprecedented CYA properties!
Goodness knows, Mr. I Must Apologize For Not Being Leftwing Enough Chris Matthews must be giddy with relief! :D
“For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country,” she told a Milwaukee crowd today, “because it feels like hope is making a comeback.” Michelle Hussein Obamanation
I am ashamed that this traitor is an American. She needs to go live in Iran where she can put on a bee keeper outfit and get stonned to death. Obamanation's wife is as big a national digrace as Bubba Clinton.
Yep....America does NOTHING good or honorable under the leadership of George Bush.....NOTHING!.....Nothing to be proud of.....nothing kind, nothing good.......
"Mr. Geldof praised Mr. Bush for his work in delivering billions to fight disease and poverty in Africa, and blasted the U.S. press for ignoring the achievement.
"Mr. Bush, said Mr. Geldof, 'has done more than any other president so far.'
"'This is the triumph of American policy really,' he said. 'It was probably unexpected of the man. It was expected of the nation, but not of the man, but both rose to the occasion.'
"'What's in it for [Mr. Bush]? Absolutely nothing,' Mr. Geldof said.
"Mr. Geldof said that the president has failed 'to articulate this to Americans' but said he is also 'pissed off' at the press for their failure to report on this good news story.
"'You guys didn't pay attention,' Geldof said to a group of reporters from all the major newspapers.
"Bush administration officials, incidentally, have also been quite displeased with some of the press coverage on this trip that they have viewed as overly negative and ignoring their achievements."

Yes, Ms. Obama.....yes, democrats.....yes, radical leftists.....America does nothing good, honorable or kind......George Bush is the devil!
Bush even earns a WPITW while he is high-lighting The United States helping millions in Africa avoid deadly diseases.....This seems ironic after Olbermann "bought a few more huts," for some Africans with his on air donation to the subject of an interview several months back, the adulterous sodomite former President Clinton.....
And soon, continuing private citizen.....
(Thank goodness)
Now, I admit that am not a good speller (my 3rd grade teacher simply gave up)....But even this mistake did not even get by me (can you find the misspelled words?)......
"Texas Two-Step: If you had somehow not yet defined the Clinton-Obama campaign as 'ugly'... Tonight, on the eve of the Wisconsin primary, pull out your needlepoint and start making the letter 'U.' Our fifth story on the Countdown: the word thrown at Senator Obama by Clinton campaign honcho Howard Wolfson is "plaigarism" -- a charge that sank Joe Biden's first presidential bid 20 years ago. But the purported victim of the plaigarism, Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts, says he and Senator Obama use each other's wordings all the time and he has no complaint. On at least one occasion Senator Obama explicitly credited the source anyway... And the issue of the overlap of language was discussed by both men in a Boston Globe article from April of last year. And oh by the way, the polls in Wisconsin are all over the map."

Oh well....I guess we should expect such quality from the man and network that likes and supports David 'the pimp' Shuster......
BTW....we spell it p-l-a-g-I-a-r-i-s-m......
Will the NEWS HOLE people be WPITW for this travesty?

It was the left that caused millions of Africans to die from malaria by banning DDT based on junk science. The left never wanted to help Africa. They wanted malaria to wipe Africans out.
"Mr. Geldof praised Mr. Bush for his work in delivering billions to fight disease and poverty in Africa, and blasted the U.S. press for ignoring the achievement."
More evidence to add to the mountain that already exists debunking the olbyloons claim that the msm is not radical left.
Good News For Americans! Bad News For Liberals/Terrorist Defenders!
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Supreme Court rejected a challenge Tuesday to the Bush administration's domestic spying program.
The justices' decision, issued without comment, is the latest setback to legal efforts to force disclosure of details of the warrantless wiretapping that began after the Sept. 11 attacks.
The American Civil Liberties Union wanted the court to allow a lawsuit by the group and individuals over the wiretapping program. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed the suit, saying the plaintiffs could not prove their communications had been monitored.
That was a really vicious, snarling snapping cur that napped through KO's show:
" "The cancerous growth Israel will soon disappear," Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps commander Muhammad Ali Jafari wrote to Hizbullah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, the FARS news agency reported Monday.
Jafari: If attacked, Iran will target US Forces in neighboring countries
In a letter of condolence following last week's assassination of Hizbullah terror chief Imad Mughniyeh, Jafari said: "I am convinced that with every passing day Hizbullah's might is increasing and in the near future, we will witness the disappearance of this cancerous growth Israel by means of the Hizbullah fighters' radiation [therapy]." "
Cee, with "thinking" such as yours being " a cancerous growth" on our body politic do you have a support group with Israel?
Grammie
olby sucks....The Supreme Court story is really being played down for the same reasons the left-leaning MSM is not giving positive coverage of the positive policy changes Bush has implemented in Africa. It goes against the themes of Bush is a "lame duck" and "wrong on civil liberties."
Olbermann will spin it all as well....the ACLU seems to not realize that this is an executive branch in control NOT spying on Americans and never intended to.....But the "potential" seems to be enough to assign all sorts of evil intentions to them....The Supreme Court was rational and said, "sorry....you have no case."
It destroys Keith Olbermann's tact in his latest Special Comments as well, assuming the worse in the rational actions of those (including MANY democrats....enough for it to pass in the House if the looney left did not delay the vote), and using fear to try to change the eventual success of the President's FISA policies....
Oh well....at least I can get the truth other places.....
And Grannie...it was funny....when I read the Iranian's "radiation therapy for the cancerous growth" quote this morning, Mike's accusation did come to my mind.....Great minds think alike!
Now remember....Saddam Hussein was closely aligned with Hezbollah and along with Iran and Syria, supported their terrorism.....Saddam is now gone and at least one less powerful entity is there to get deadly WMD to these extremists....
But the war in Iraq was useless.....
But the "potential" seems to be enough to [assign all sorts of evil intentions to them]....The Supreme Court was rational and said, "sorry....you have no case."

Arianna Huffington: The Right Strengthens its Hold on McCain, the Media Refuse to Notice
Isn't it funny that several weeks ago a-mess-nbc was saying the republicans were in disarray and may have a brokered convention. Now the Dems are splitting at the seams and a nervously whispered Democrat brokered convention is mentioned in passing.
Sweeeeet to see the obama camp back pedaling and spinning away from mrs. obama's reckless spew. Where's mrs. obama to defend her mouth? Locked up, that's where she is. A kerry moment, for sure.
Wow. obama has said 'change' 14 times in less than 10 minutes......Everything he is claiming he will do requires raising taxes.
Olby Sucks: "Everything he is claiming he will do requires raising taxes."
WHY? Hasn't your party already set the tone for such rhetoric?
After all, you republicans seem to think you can fight multi-billion dollar wars that are not being paid for while cutting taxes for the wealthy in the process.....While never feeling a need to justify the contradiction.
ok, next time you are crying about the economy and how you can't afford health insurance I'll remind you of the night you defended paying more taxes. How long before obama offers free washing machines?
After all, you republicans seem to think you can fight multi-billion dollar wars

How many democrats voted for the war and continue to fund it? Huh?
Olby Sucks, you keep ignoring my points!
As an example, in your 1:32 post quoting my post about the war, you left out the very critical - "that are not being paid for" - part part of the post, ..... in the process of pretending that you responded to what I said.
Why do you do that?
WASHINGTON — Senator Obama's ties to a former leader of the violent left-wing activist group the Weather Underground are drawing new scrutiny as he battles Senator Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.
As an Illinois state senator in 2001, Mr. Obama accepted a $200 contribution from William Ayers, a founding member of the group that BOMBED the U.S. Capitol and the Pentagon during the 1970s.
http://www.nysun.com/article/71421?access=300609
When we begin to examine under a microscope and attack a candidate for each and every donation made to them....while assuming that the candidate should somehow be aware of that particular contributer's past.....it's a sure sign that the usual mud slingers have had a lot of trouble coming up with anything particularly meaningful.
Yes siree....let's make every candidate do a comprehensive background investigation of every small donar.
Keep digging "Olby Sucks"!
Just pointing out that a known terrorist is backing your boy. Still waiting for the list of dems that voted for and continue to fund the "republican" war.
Shouldn\'t you answer the question you are ducking on the other thread first? Just to show youhhold yourself to the same standard? Just checking.
oh, banned one, if you want to see some serious 'selective responding' scroll above to the one you are packing water for. Then get back to me, if you can.
Aww, poor little dipshit RK. Are you mad that someone pointed out your hypocrisy and cowardice in the face of tough questions?

"Still waiting for the list of dems that voted for and continue to fund the "republican" war."
Why do you think I'm delighted that Hillary's chances are starting to look pretty slim?
One correction: This silly war isn't really being "funded" at all, since it is being fought on borrowed money from China and others.
Still haven\'t responded to the other thread RK/jeff/Olby, then you cry when someone points it out. Now there is a suprise. Just more of the daily dose.

Below is the INCOMPLETE quote that the poster now named "Olby Sucks" used to FALSY claim that I had used a term that he himself invented - "republican wars"..... (This poster's name used to be "Jeff" - then it became "Royal king - and now it has morphed into "Olby sucks""):
****** " After all, you republicans seem to think you can fight multi-billion dollar wars." ******
Now here is the COMPLETE, and therefore the only HONEST quotation:
******"After all, you republicans seem to think you can fight multi-billion dollar wars while cutting taxes for the wealthy in the process.....while never feeling the need to justify the contradiction"******
The ACTUAL and COMPLETE comment unmistakingly referred to the FINANCING of the war, ..... and the republican party's approach to HOW it is financed, ..... while contrasting that to how they appoach the financing of OTHER programs.
Then Jeff dissected that comment, dishonestly quoted only a small part of it, which effectively changed the entire meaning......But he didn't stop there! As a final touch, he then dishonestly changed the wording while adding quotation marks in order to create the total LIE that I had said "republican wars".
He then used THAT lie to create yet another lie that I had 'wiggled', even though he had completely changed the argument by dishonestly attributing words to me that I had never used.
Now Jeff, if you want to have an argument about whether or not this is a "REPUBLICAN war", we COULD also have THAT argument....but that was never the argument I was making.....which shows your inherent dishonesty AGAIN.
The bottom line is that we can never have an honest debate as long as you keep creating outright lies about what I, or anyone else, has actually said.
"Olby Sucks" - A different name......but the same old dishonesty!
mike, I did exactly what your hero does every night. I took a part of your words to mount a smear campaign. Although, you and I know exactly what you were saying. Evidenced above. You called it a republican war just like you have in the past. What I want to know is, how long before your hero pulls a Dan Rather? Last nights half hour smear against a decorated hero was one step away. He ran wit a "story" with not one shred of evidence. He and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
"Resign Olbermahn, resign now, while you still have a shred of dignity!"
Jeff: Thanks for admitting that you just engaged in a personal "smear campaign" in order to try to make a point about someone I wasn't even talking about.
Why you would say I should be 'ashamed of myself' when you are the one who admittedly did the smear is beyond me?
As far as pulling a "Dan Rather", if anyone did that, it was the New York Times. They chose to run a questionable story that I believe they should NOT have run, and started everyone else speculating about the validity of it, including Olbermann.
Olbermann is NOT my hero. He has many faults and I have stated so in the past. However, I believe he has been a needed backlash to a very biased Fox News, and I have also stated THAT in the past. I personally believe that Olbermann is at a stage in his career in which if he were to tone it down a bit, the sky might be the limit for him **** (are you listening Keith?) ****.
I personally want to see a straight up, smear free campaign between Obama and McCain, .... and let the chips fall where they will....although I doubt if I will get my wish. I could live with a McCain presidency because I do believe he has integrity that the current one doesn't have.
Finally, while I certainly believe the Republicans led the charge in creating the Iraq war, they were undoubtedly aided by too many democrats, and political fear was probably the motivating factor for far too many of them on BOTH sides....and THEY are the ones who should be ashamed of themselves.
Finally, progress! You are coming around, mike.
Chicken Blogger, the Dems were the majority in the Senate in 2002. One independent (Jeffers), forty nine Repubs, and fifty Dems.
The Dems could have defeated the Iraq Bill without Lincoln Chaffe (RINO extraordinaire) b/c Jeffers Jeffers voted nay.
Although the percentages are quite different, 99% of Repubs aye and 58% of the Dems aye, the bottom line was that it was passed by a significant majority of both parties. I believe that is the Holy Grail of politics, a bipartisan bill.
This bill was very much a bipartisan effort b/c, I believe, many Dems voted their consciences based on: the seamless 10 - 12 years of the same intelligence for both B J Clinton's and GWB's admins; the virtually universal agreement of all major Intelligence Operations around the world for 10 - 12 years ; and the indistinguisable 10 - 12 years of public statements by Clinton/Gore and Bush /Cheney and major political leaders from both the Dems and the Repubs. when they were in power through 2000 and out of power in 2001 and 2002.

Hello olbysucks.
Did you used to post as royal king?
royal king is at 9:49 above. Ask him.
Actually Cee, Independets are allowed to vote in many of the primaries (california and iowa for example) I'm an independent and voted in the democratic primary and will most certainly be voting democrat in November.
In fact, independents are one of the big reasons Barack has been able to gain ground, and ultimetly overtake Hillary Clinton. In many cases the Republican primaries wee closed to non independets but I can't imagine many of them would have come out to vote in the democratic primary if they were planning on voting Republican in the fall, and they came out in droves.
Again this could change, and you are right there is plenty of time for shifts to take place. Right now the omens may be good for the democrats, but as in sports, paper matchups are not the real thing.
Cee just to give you the 411 in Pennsylvania
It's a closed state. Republicans can only vote for same. Ditto Independents, Democrats.
AS for PA, you can switch parties and register for the primary, and then switch back after the primary, for the GE. For what it's worth, there are some Republicans who are doing it so they can vote in the Dem primary for Obama. They say they'll be voting for McCain in Nov but they want to vote against Clinton.
This thread is now closed!
